questions for questions. one: are there are people who, given every support and every attempt to rehabilitate, every mitigation strategy, given resources and therapy and money and time, will still choose violence? i don't know. YOU don't know. but anything is possible, and i will freely admit i don't have the answer to that yet.

but also, two: yeah, what about them? because what i DO know, and what i need you to try to understand, is that prison already does not prevent violence. the threat of it doesn't deter violence to begin with-- look around you-- and it doesn't stop violence after the people deemed "too dangerous" are locked up. they simply commit violence against other prisoners instead.

so, the thing you're concerned about losing? the ability to prevent someone from committing violence? that's already not a thing. it is not happening. the thing you're worried about losing HAS NEVER EXISTED. "but how will we stop violent criminals from hurting people" is the first thing out of anyone's mouth in response to the idea of prison abolition, but we already don't have a solution to that! that is NOT SOLVED! you can't see the violence anymore, but it is still happening! at the hands of the guards, if not these "violent criminals" you're so worried about, so the problem of violence IS NOT SOLVED by locking people up, do you understand? no one is locked up to keep them from hurting people, they are locked up to ensure they can only hurt people whose pain has been deemed acceptable.

instead of saying, "we can't abolish prisons because violent criminals will hurt people," please ask yourself: is the current violence against disenfranchised, systemically vulnerable people so much more acceptable to you than violence against the public that you will advocate against helping people, instead of hurting them?

My post about Anya is making like a little ruckus on Twitter and I think it’s crazy how many people like have a problem with it.

Like you don’t have to agree with how I characterize Anya and her actions but it’s more like, why are you focused on only one aspect of her character? Why are you removing nuance from the situation? I don’t see it as giving Curly the benefit of the doubt when it comes to doing better for Anya, but as exploring his character and hers relationship with a the very little authentic facts we get about them. In truth, there’s a lot more I wish Curly did, even if it wasn’t pragmatic but I realize the issue there.

The first psychological horror game in a while that’s real intricate in its storytelling and makes you need to really need to address the morality of intentions and its already getting torn asunder smh 😔

Yosano will jokingly use the pet names when they're off the job or making fun of Dazai, but honestly takes to using them at work as well after a while, they're really pretty when they blush, wat can she say? (transfem!Sigma x Yosano yuri.... I think maybe)

Kunikida, after months of yelling at Dazai for being unprofessional and Sigma telling him "it's fine, really, it... it's not that much of a bother", will deadpan the pet name's with a very tired "I can't believe this is what my work like has come too" tone, esepcially cause Dazai will only refer to Sigma as said pet names in his reports (which Sigma and Kunikida always revise) and in the office groupchat/email chain.

Ranpo uses them in the gc.

Fukuzawa is tired of getting the reports from Dazai where a birdy is missed by Kunikida and Sigma's tireless revisions.

everyone else knows exactly who's being referred to when they hear those pet names, even if they don't use them themselves, just like Sigma pretends to not like it, but responds every time he hears one of his many titles.

they become his monikers in the field. Dazai is elated.

How did Luna + Titan react to Earth first saying to Titan that 'moons can't have life' and 'wanting to have life is a stupid dream'?

How would Titan + Ganymede + Europa react during Earth's speech, when they learn that Earth HATES his lifeforms, but keeps them around for Luna's happiness?

How would they react to realizing that Earth WASN'T truely being anti-moon, Earth doesn't want Titan to suffer like he is (although Earth was still rude about it)...

Would Ganymede + Europa still try to encourage the attack? OoO;

1) They react pretty much the same way as in canon, because neither of them would know about Earth’s struggles at this point. Luna may be a bit suspicious because of the “stupid dream” part, as Earth previously always dreamed of having life, but he just chalks it up to Earth’s insecurity.

2) Titan’s main issue with Saturn was that, despite definitely being treated better than all the other moons, he’s seen more as an object than a person, on top of the fact that he only seems to care about Titan. Realizing that Earth loves Luna more than what Titan believed to be his "prized possession" (his Earthlings) would resonate with him. Additionally, learning that Earth actively dislikes his life and only tolerates it for Luna’s sake—paired with the revelation that Earth’s previous words weren’t meant to be hateful, just a (admittedly badly-phrased) warning—would likely cause Titan to side with Earth almost immediately, even sooner than in canon.

Europa and Ganymede… not so much. Sure, they genuinely don’t like the Earth, but killing off his life was just a way to prove to the planets that their equals. They’re not as emotionally invested in it as Titan was.

However, I can see the other moons being way harder to persuade into attacking the Earth after the speech, because why would you attack a guy that’s not only apologizing for the whole situation but is claiming that the whole thing was just a misunderstanding and he’s suffering for the sake of one of your fellow moons??

Sure, Ganymede and Europa may still try to convince them to attack, but they’d all refuse, forcing those two to “forgive” the Earth like in canon, just without the actual fight.

“What?” Buck glances at his phone, as if he could see Eddie’s face. Then he looks back at the road. He crossed the state lines around an hour ago, he’s been driving the whole night, aside from that quick nap when he was getting gas, but how does Eddie know? “How-”

“We’re sharing each other’s location, remember?” Eddie sighs. Right. Eddie insisted on that a while ago. Buck had no problem with that, obviously. It’s Eddie. And it’s just in case of an emergency. “What are you doing, Buck?” he asks, concern and confusion audible in his voice.

“I don’t know, Eddie, honestly.” Buck chuckles quietly, bitterly. “I- I didn’t wanna go home. I just felt like going for a drive, and before I knew it, I was on I-10, so I just- kept driving.” he shrugs, as if Eddie could see him. “Why are you checking my location so early in the morning, anyway? Or at all?” he adds, because he’d only check Eddie’s if he couldn’t get ahold of him for long enough to warrant worrying, not in the morning when he could easily just be asleep. Then again, maybe Eddie sees how off Buck’s been lately.

“Uh-” Eddie takes a beat, swallows audibly. “I do that sometimes.” he admits, voice quiet.

“Do what?” Buck’s hands grip the steering wheel a bit harder, eyes on the road. Fortunately there’s not a lot of traffic at this hour, in between cities. 

“Ever since-” he takes a shaky breath. “Ever since you- you died, I check sometimes, just to make sure you’re there, that you’re- you’re alive. To ease my mind without overwhelming you and smothering you with my pointless worrying.” he chuckles quietly. “And, I don’t know, today I woke up and had this nagging feeling to check, to make sure you’re safely at home, and- and here you are, two states over.” he says in that tone that makes Buck clearly imagine him shaking his head with exasperation and fondness. “Buck, if you wanted a road trip, you should’ve just said so. We’d have taken Chris and gone across the- the world if you wanted to.” he says earnestly, and Buck feels tears in his eyes again. Fuck, what is wrong with him? “You know we’re here for you. I’m here for you.”

“Maybe I don’t want you to be.” Buck whispers, not meaning a word.
