An Analysis on the Finale and Aziraphaleâs Inner Monologue (Michael Sheen is an Incredible Actor)
Like most Good Omens fans in these tragic, triyng times, Iâve spent hours scrolling through Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr reading hundreds of peopleâs thoughts and opinions on the season, particularly the final scene of the season in which Aziraphale is offered to return to Heaven to be Supreme Archangel and Crowley confesses his love to Aziraphale after literal millennia of pining. After my most recent rewatch of the season, I spent a lot of time focussing on the final scene(s) and carefully eyeing every tiny detail. Not necessarily around the coffee, but around everything that came after it. I am somewhat on the fence about the coffee theory. Though I donât think that Aziraphale decided to go back to Heaven entirely on his own fruition, I donât think he was completely under the control of Heaven either. His ultimate decision was not entirely out of character.
Starting with the coffee and scene with Metatron itself: many people have theorized that The Metatron poisoned Aziraphale with cyanide, which I see the logic in. We saw earlier in the series in the second minisode that poison causes demonsâand presumably angelsâto act very strange, like theyâre high or drunk. When he drank the laudnum, Crowley stops a girl from killing herself, while stating that it was not a kind thing to do as he was âOff [his] rocker on laudnum. Not responsible for [his] actionsâ. However, Crowley still drinks the laudnum to stop Elspeth from doing it herself, so obviously he was at least somewhat in his right mind. He still aimed to thwart her attempt, so his statement deflecting his actions due to his intoxication could just be another moment of Crowley denying any goodness in him, much like when he saves Aziraphaleâs books and tells him not to thank him. So, coming back to the coffee, it is perhaps plausible that Aziraphale said yes to The Metatron because he was not entirely in his right mind. When we see Metatron order the coffee, he does ask for a âdash of almond syrupâ, but when giving it to Aziraphale, says that there is a âhefty jiggerâ of it. That certainly doesnât sound like a dash. Where the coffee theory starts to fall off, however, is immediately after Aziraphale drinks the coffee. When Crowley drank the laudnum, he immediately felt the effects of the poison, whereas with Aziraphale, we see that he is completely the same afterwards. Of course, cyanide is not laudnum, and it was also, theoretically, mixed in with coffee, so the effects could very well be different. Aziraphale returns to his shop with no coffee in hand, so it is safe to assume that he finished it, and we donât see any changes in behavior until he starts talking to Crowley. That is when he starts to act off.
If we look at Aziraphale during his conversation with The Metatron, he immediately declines his offer. He flatout says that he does not want to go back to heaven. Not only that, but Metatron tells Aziraphale that he chose him to replace Gabriel as Supreme Archangel because heâs a great, natural leader. That heâs honest and doesnât just tell people what they want to hear, which is just flatout not true. We see Aziraphale lie so many times in the show, probably more than Crowley, and he especially lies to Heaven on multiple occasions. Thatâs a huge focus of the minisode in episode 2, that Aziraphale lied to Heaven. He has never aligned with Heavenâs beliefs. He is notoriously insuboordinate. He is by far not the best choice to be Supreme Archangel, especially since he hasnât properly aligned himself with Heaven, or even spoken to them, in years. This is the first piece of manipulation from The Metatronâs part. Not even necessarily some miracle or poisoning, but he was feeding Azirphale what he wants to hear. Heâs praising him to get in his good graces, but thatâs only the first half. Aziraphale still says no. Itâs not until Metatron presents his second half of the offer that we see something start to crack in Aziraphale. If The Metatron did do something to Aziraphale, it still could not have worked without this vital piece. He offers to let Aziraphale, as Supreme Archangel, restore Crowley as an angel. Crowley can come with. Suddenly things are different, and we see it on Aziraphaleâs face. Michael Sheen is an inredible actor and he manages to narrate a deep and painful inner monologue within Aziraphale with just his face. The second The Metatron starts to say that he could bring Crowley with him, his expression changes very subtly, but just enough for us to see that something made its way through to him.
We are deliberately not shown the rest of their conversation. There is clearly something there that we did not see. The only other part of their conversation we see is at the end of it. The Metatron says that Azirphale â[doesnât] have to answer immediately. Take all the time you needâ. All that Azirpahle says in response is that he doesnât know what to say, to which The Metatron says, âGo tell your friend the good newsâ, as if he knows that, in the end, Aziraphale will come with him. We watch Aziraphale walk away, and he does not look like he has good news for Crowley. He looks scared.
Something inside of Aziraphale is battling itself in this moment. We see no change in his demeanor until we reenters his bookshop, and even then, itâs not until right before Crowley begins speaking. We see him looking at Crowley and something almost seems to waft over him. Heâs no longer scared or nervous about this news. He suddenly wants to tell Crowley all about it.
When Aziraphale cuts Crowley off, heâs suddenly ecstatic about going back to Heaven, which does not at all match how he was feeling less than one minute ago on his way back to the bookshop. So, it might be entirely possible that The Metatron didnât do anything to Aziraphale until after their conversation. That he performed some miracle on him just as he was walking away. As Aziraphale explains the ordeal to Crowley, he is filled more and more with joy and excitement about all of it. Aziraphale, who, just a few minutes ago, said that he didnât want to go back to Heaven. I do believe that part of him here is thinking back on when he knew Crowley as an angel. We donât know much about Crowleyâs time as an angel, but we do know that he was an important angel. Important enough to be second to the Supreme Archangel as Aziraphale proposes. We saw a small moment of Crowley when he was an angel and how much he loved building the universe. Creating stars. Countless galaxies that were like his children. But we know very well why Crowley could never go back. So why doesnât Aziraphale? Aziraphale doesnât exactly have the best relationship with Heaven. They were the ones who tried to destroy him, to hurt Crowley, to destroy the world and humanity, which Azirphale stopped. Why should we believe that heâs even been forgiven for that? Crowley seems to share the same sentiment that the viewers doâwhy should Aziraphale go back after what they did to him?âbecause he immediately assumes that Aziraphale turned down the offer.
Crowley tells Aziraphale that theyâre better than that. That they donât need Heaven. That when Hell offered him a promotion, he said no, without hesitation. Aziraphale rebutes with âObviously you said no to Hell, youâre the bad guys.â Youâre. When has Aziraphale ever aligned Crowley with Hell like that? Especially in the last few years of their relationship. They have been completely cut off from both sides for years. This is the first instance of something slipping through that isnât entirely Aziraphale. This is not something that he would say to Crowley. Aziraphale says, â...Heaven. Itâs the side of light, of truth. Of good.â He has spent all of both seasons of the show whole-heartedly believing that Crowley was good. He has always seen him as such. So, for him to not only include Crowley in the Hell collective, but to imply that Crowley cannot be good without Heaven, is a clear sign that something is wrong. Crowley is begging, pleading that Azirphale said no to Metatron. If we look back, he never gave an answer. The Metatron told him that he could take all the time he needed to answer. But Aziraphale has his answer. He never had a choice in giving one, did he? Aziraphale did say no and The Metatron didnât take it.
At this point, Crowley can feel Aziraphale slipping away, so he goes on with his confession anyway. Itâs clear in his voice that heâs now desperately trying to hold onto Aziraphale. Throughout Crowleyâs confession, he plays a tug-of-war with Heaven for Aziraphale. He brings up Gabriel and Beelzebub, saying that if they âcan go off together, then we canâ. Heâs not just bringing them up as a point in his argument to say that it is possible for an angel and a demon to love each other. Heâs bringing them up because Beelzebub says flatout that they âfound something that mattered more than choosing sidesâ. Crowley is trying to present himself as that for Aziraphale in that moment. Heâs looking him in the eye, allowing himself to be vulnerable, and begging him to forget about sides. What about shades of gray?
Crowley is presenting Aziraphale with an offer. An offer for the two of them to forget Heaven and Hell, to forget everything but each other. But Aziraphale has his mind set, either by himself or by someone else, but it is set nonetheless. Even as he fights whatever is inside of him, pulling him toward Heaven, heâll be damned if he doesnât do everything in his power to pull Crowley with him because he cannot bear to be apart from him. Crowley would burn Heaven to the ground for Aziraphale, but heâs afraid of fire.
The best comparison for Aziraphaleâs willingness to go back to Heaven, which many people have used, is that of an abuse victim. He has suffered at the hands of Heaven for millennia, but when the expectation is that he must feel worthless, he holds on so tight to any speck of praise like it is high above the standard. When Crowley presents his offer to Aziraphale, heâs not turning it down. He is trying to fulfill it while also getting to enact his hopes for Heaven. He says to Crowley, âCome with me. To Heaven. Iâll run it, you can be my second in commandâ. This line always stuck out to me. Second in command. When has Crowley ever been a second to Aziraphale? Throughout the series, we see them walking together, always shoulder to shoulder. Neither ever walks behind or in front of the other. They have always been equals. Now, suddenly, Crowley is no longer worthy of being Aziraphaleâs equal. Almost as though Heaven is looking at Crowley and saying that he doesnât deserve to be on the same level as a measly principality. Someone who was once important enough to build galaxies can never be on the same level again because he has fallen. The Metatron is starting to flood into Aziraphaleâs head, and Aziraphale is fighting to stay afloat, reaching out for Crowley to pull him out, but if Crowley takes his hand heâll just get pulled under, too.
âYou canât leave this bookshop,â Crowley says. You canât leave me. Is what he means. âOh, Crowley,â Aziraphale patronizingly coos at him. He thinks that Crowley is refusing because of foolish attachments to material objects, something that Heaven has no time or use for. Something Heaven has no patience for. âNothing lasts forever.â We wonât last forever. Crowley is offering Aziraphale eternity, and Aziraphale is laughing at him for it. At least, from Crowleyâs perspective. Through his heartbreak, he canât see that Aziraphale so badly wants to go with him, but something is holding him down, so he asks Crowley to come to him. There is no halfway point. âNo, I donât suppose it does.â Crowley puts his glasses on while heâs alone with Aziraphale for the first time in years. He spent years carefully tearing down his walls for him, and itâs as if, in an instant, someone came along and pressed undo. All the bricks came magneting back together and built themselves back up. Crowley opened himself up, truly, for the first time ever, and he thinks heâs being rejected becaus Aziraphale doesnât know how to tell him how beautiful he looks. As Crowley walks away, Aziraphale doesnât know what he did wrong. Why is Crowley leaving? Heâs offering him what is, in his mind, the best possible outcome. He wants to fix Heaven for Crowley. He wants him to be that sweet, happy, angel he was, but Aziraphaleâs too naive to see that he never can be. Heâs begging Crowley to come with him now. âWe can be together,â he says, almost like itâs a compromise. He still doesnât know how to let himself love Crowley, but heâs willing to let Crowley love him if that means he will stay. He says that they can be angels, doing good, again implying that Crowley cannot be good without Heaven. Crowley cannot be good with Aziraphale. But the fact of the matter is, he may be good without Aziraphale, but he isnât Crowley. More and more of Aziraphale breaks through in this moment. In his moment of desperation not to lose Crowley, heâs forgetting about Heaven. All he needs is Crowley. He needs him. And when that plead doesnât work, Heaven surfaces again. He turns to anger. âI donât think you understand what Iâm offering you.â Heâs now bringing Crowley down. Heâs using the same tactics that Heaven does. Make them feel worthless so that they love you when you give them anything more. But this is also Heaven trying to push Crowley away from Aziraphale. The intention never was for Crowley to be an angel. Metatron knew very well that Crowley would say no. He just needed that option to get in. To break into Aziraphaleâs mind, tear the two apart with no hope of mending, and keep them as far away from each other as possible.
Aziraphale gives up trying to hold onto Crowley. Heaven is in his head and in his ear saying, âGive up. Heâs not coming.â Heaven has built itself back up in Aziraphaleâs head. He has closed himself from Crowley. Itâs not until Crowley kisses him that the battle begins again between Aziraphale and whatever The Metatron placed in him, whether literally or emotionally. We see on Aziraphaleâs face and in his body language a flicker between wanting and hating it. But he never pulls away. When Crowley letâs go, Aziraphale looks horrified. Like he canât believe that Crowley just did that, or that he allowed it to continue as long as it did. Deep down, thereâs nothing Aziraphale wanted more, but not like this. As he struggles to find his words, his face is first sad. Afraid. He mouths something through an exhale that appears to be what wants to be an âI love youâ, but his face shifts. Heaven takes over again and all he can say is âI forgive youâ. He goes from sad and lovelorn to a sort of anger with Crowley. We see him flash back and forth between these two many times throughout this sequence.
As Crowley walks away, Aziraphale comes through again, wanting to go after him. He even appears to mouth âNoâ. He wants him to stay. He wants to stay with him. But then he looks after him with a furrowed brow. Heâd better walk away. Itâs better for everyone.
He pushes Heaven back again when he presses his fingers to his lips. He wants to remember what that felt like. He wants to feel it again. Desperately. But he changes again and wipes the kiss away. Itâs not what Heaven would want, and so neither shall he, for this love is a sin, and angels do not sin.
When the Metatron returns and Aziraphale tells him he didnât take it well, The Metatron immediately puts Crowley down, saying that he was âalways asking damn fool questionsâ. Now that Crowley was out of sight, he needed to be out of mind as well. He did not align with Heaven or its goals, so Aziraphale cannot think even remotely fondly of him. He must be an angel again, and angels do not look upon demons with an ounce of kindness. Crowley does not deserve Aziraphaleâs kindness. He offered him something great, and he was too foolish to accept it. Right?
The Metatron asks Aziraphale if heâs ready to start. Aziraphale never gave him an answer, though, did he? Because there was no answer to give. Aziraphale never had a choice. Crowley had to be gone, and Aziraphale had to be the one to push him away, because how else would they regain control over the both of them? The reality of it has suddenly hit Aziraphale. Heâs still fighting Heavenâs control. Suddenly, he canât leave the bookshop. Suddenly, it must last forever, because this is Crowleyâs shop, too. While The Metatron is trying to get Aziraphale out of the shop, he keeps looking at the chairs. The chairs in which he and Crowley sat and drank so many times. Where they laughed together. Where they decided to stop armageddon. The chairs where they decided that their side was the only one that mattered. Aziraphale is doubting. He almost tells The Metatron that he wants to stay. He almost tells him no. But he canât, because The Metatron wonât let him. He canât.
In the scene just before Aziraphale gets on the elevator, the music is a key factor. It tells the viewer exactly whatâs going on in Aziraphaleâs mind. He is still flipping between Heavn and Crowley. Every time Aziraphale leans toward Heaven, the music plays in a major key, with more emphasis on the flute. When his mind goes to Crowley, the strings take over with a melancholy melody. Strings that pull Aziraphale down, back to the world, to Crowley. And then he takes that final breath and steps onto the elevator. The flute takes over again and the music changes to a hopeful melody, but still sad enough sounding, especially when we cut back to Crowley getting into his car. We see one final look of doubt on Azirphaleâs face as the elevator doors close. The weight of his choices are hitting him. But he doensât dwell on them long because heâs finally let go of the ledge. Heâs stopped trying to float. Heâs sinking down into the black waters of Heaven and his mind has vanished. Heâs under the Metatronâs control now. We see him struggling and fighting one final time during the credits until finally, just before both he and Crowley are completely gone, he cracks an unsettling grin. The last ties to Earth have been severed. His uncanny expressions throughout the entire credit sequence are meant to be unnerving. Something is deeply, deeply, wrong.
So, I donât think I necessarily believe in the coffee theory exactly, though I do think that it is important. There was so much cinematic emphasis placed on the coffee, but whether that be because The Metatron meddled with it or just as a red herring to raise unease from the viewer with The Metatron is uncertain. The only person who knows is Neil Gaiman and we all know just how much weâd get out of him if we asked. Ultimately, if Crowley coming to Heaven was never presented as an option in the first place, Aziraphale would not have gone. But he leaves with blame placed on Crowley, and thatâs exactly how The Metatron wanted it.

@chrumblr-whumblr Day Four: Watching while a loved one is hurt
Fandom: Endeavour. Post 4x04 Harvest. I watched the episode like a week ago and Forgot Details and haven't rewatched it to fact check anything so if something doesn't line up with canon oh well ignore that. I just love Morse and Miss Frazil's friendship SO MUCH i wanted to explore it a little. (May cannibalism this scene if i ever get around to writing my 'joan says yes' au)

Dorothea wasnât sure when it had happened, exactly, but somewhere through the years her acquaintance with Morse had shifted from a respectful professional relationship to genuine friendship. It was a development that hadnât been entirely intentional, but there was something about the young man that made her think he hadnât had much friendship in his life. There was a hungriness about him, a desperate desire to be loved that she was sure he didnât admit even to himself.Â
She found him almost on accident, the day after everything at the Bramford power plant had been wrapped up. He was sitting at the bar of the pub, nursing a pint and staring morosely at an untouched crossword in front of him. Dorothea took him in for a long moment, seeing the bags under his eyes, the exhaustion in the way he sat, leaned over the bar. He was staring at nothing, eyes dull and half glazed over, clearly lost in thought.Â
He looked positively worn out, and Dorothea felt her heart clench at the sight of him. He was so brilliant, so young and full of energy. Had a brain so fast and wonderful, but life had beaten him down so quickly. He didn't share much, but Dorothea had years of investigative journalism behind her--she could read between the lines, could pick out a story in the shapes left behind by absence. Not for the first time she thought he was a man too used to caring and not used to being cared for.Â
To break the ice, she cleared her throat and sat down at the stool beside him. He started, torn out of his thoughts and the lost expression on his face shifted into a small smile.Â
âMiss Frazil,â he greeted, shifting his newspaper aside to give her room. She smiled back at him, placing her handbag on the bar. âCan I get you a drink?âÂ
âI'm alright, thank you Morse,â Dorothea answered. She eyed the mostly empty glass in his hands, wondering how many he'd finished before she had arrived. Best not to bring more alcohol into the equation--heaven knows he could drink enough without encouragement.Â
She started with work, knowing he would close himself off immediately if she pushed too hard too quickly.Â
âYou were at the plant, were you not?â she asked. A wary expression crossed Morse's face, but he seemed to relax a little nonetheless. She thought back to their last conversation, when she had dropped him off by an empty field. He'd opened up then, just a little. Bared himself just enough to show his hurt, but not quite enough for her to do anything about it. âAnything you can tell me?âÂ
The request pulled a small smile from him, something Dorothea was grateful to see. He rolled his pint between his hands and shook his head, turning to look at her. There was a cut along his hairline she noted--that hadn't been there last she saw him.Â
âI'm afraid not,â he said. He still seemed distant, mind on other things. Not fully engaging in their usual dance as they tried to tease information out of the other.Â
âThe official story is a fire,â she said. His hand drifted to the cut. He nodded.Â
âBest to leave it at that,â he said. She waited, long years of experience telling her the best way to get information out of someone was to wait. Let him tell her in his own time.Â
Though it wasn't really what had happened at the plant she wanted to know. Not right now, at least. Like as not, it wasn't going to be anything she could publish anyway.Â
What she really wanted to know was what was bothering him. It was more than this current case, more even than his flat being burgled earlier in the week. She knew him well enough to see it in the way he sat, the line of his shoulders, the shadows in his eyes.Â
âOff the record, sabotage,â he said finally. This time he did press his hand to the cut on his forehead. âSome plot by Bagley, planning to leak radiation into the nearby area to prove just how dangerous nuclear energy is.â
Now that would be a juicy story. The part of Dorothea that was pure journalist wanted to dig deeper into it, chase the story, share it with the world. But from the way Morse was hunched, from the sensitivity of the situation, she knew that this would be another story by the wayside. Another time societal requirements won over the truth.Â
Sometimes she felt a little bitter about that. But she told herself to keep looking forward, finding the next story, uncovering the next truth.Â
âAnd you stopped it,â she said and he nodded, his attention still wandering. âYou alright?âÂ
It was an innocent enough question, one she knew wouldn't shut him down immediately. There were a lot of ways to answer that, and Morse could choose how much he shared.Â
âI'll live,â he said. She wasn't surprised by the answer; it was a dismissal, his way of saying he didn't want to talk. Not quite fully a lie, not quite fully vulnerable.Â
He infuriated her, sometimes. He was so clearly in need of someone looking out for him, but he was so stubborn he refused to accept help, let alone ask for it.Â
Sometimes she wanted to force him to stop, put him up in her small apartment for a week so she could put some meat on his bones and light in his eyes. Drive it into his stubborn skull that people cared and he didn't have to go at life alone.Â
âReally?â she asked gently.Â
He let out a long breath and emptied the last of his beer.Â
âStill donât feel entirely safe at home,â he admitted. âFeels too empty.âÂ
She nodded sympathetically. She knew a little about feeling vulnerable in a place that was supposed to be safe--it had been a few months since her kidnapping by Leyton-Asprey, and she still felt uneasy being alone in her office. Coming home to find his space invaded so violently had clearly shaken Morse and she couldnât find fault in that.Â
But he was using it as a shield, holding up the reasonable excuse so she didnât dig any deeper, uncover the actual source of his hurt. Always hiding himself, was Morse. And Dorothea hated not knowing the truth.Â
She let the silence sit for another moment, pondering her next course of action. It was always a delicate balance with Morse, finding the line between getting him to open up to her without shutting down fully. He needed to come at his own pace, but he needed to know she wanted to know. She wanted to share whatever his hurt was, help him in whatever way she could.Â
She thought maybe he didnât have many people he could feel safe opening up to, and she didnât want to break the trust they had built over the years.Â
âThere was a girl.âÂ
His words came as a surprise, and it took Dorothea a second to process them. He spoke them softly, a mix of hurt and bitterness mingling in his voice.Â
She thought back to that last conversation in the car on the country road. Heâd denied a girl then, a scoffing almost-bitter voice proclaiming he didnât have anyone. Sheâd thought it was a laden admission at the time, and now she felt a little vindication.Â
It wasnât sweet vindication. Not seeing how he was hunched into himself, not seeing the heaviness in his eyes. Heartbreak, she realised. Not something new to him, she concluded.Â
âAh,â she said softly. Morse stared into his empty pint glass.Â
âShe⌠had some trouble,â he said finally, looking anywhere but at Dorothea. âI couldnât help her. She didnât let me help her.âÂ
âSounds familiar,â Dorothea thought, expression soft and understanding as she looked at Morse.Â
âIâm sorry,â she said finally, not knowing how else to help. She was glad he had let her in, glad he had shared at least something. Gently, she reached across the bar to squeeze his forearm.Â
He started, looking down at her hand and then back up at her, seeming unsure what to do with the unexpected touch. Again, Dorothea couldnât help but feel he had been so starved of everything a persons should have--love, intimacy, friendship. The knowledge that people care.Â
For just a moment, he let her in fully. She saw the despair behind his eyes, the grief and loss. The hurt that informed every part of his life, walls and barriers and scars built up after a childhood starved of love and an adulthood seeing the worst of humanity.Â
Then he shifted, pulling his arm away and looked back down at the newspaper in front of him. The moment was over, the walls were back up. Once again, he locked her out and was alone in his hurt.Â
Dorothea knew there was nothing she could do for him except just wait until the next time he was brave enough to be vulnerable. For now, maybe that would be enough.Â
âIâll buy you a drink,â she said, sensing the companionship would be of more use than anything else right now. He flickered a small, forced smile in her direction and picked up a pen to start filling out the crossword.Â

if youâre open to requests, i was wondering if you could write a lestat x louis x reader fic that takes place during their huge fight in the townhouse? i can imagine the reader being a mother figure to claudia and trying to protect her during it and getting hurt in the process of trying to break up louis and lestat. iâd love to see how the reader deals with the aftermath of her and louisâ injuries as well as claudia taking care of the two of them.

ࡠout of fear, lestat does the unimaginable and has to try his hardest to win his family's trust back, but it may be too late

How did your once beautiful family go to ruins? When Claudia was created? When she rebelled? Or when she left? Your daughter, you would go to hell and back for her, yet, you couldn't convince her to stay.
Lestat was cruelly strict with her, invading her privacy by reading her diaries, not considering the fact that she was trapped in the early stages of puberty for an eternity. She couldn't help that she was a young girl stuck in this body, and he never let her forget or made it easier on her.
Louis, he'd always been passive, about your companionship, as well as his role as a parent. He wanted to keep the peace and harmony. If that meant allowing Lestat to discipline her, then heâd turn his head to not have to watch out of guilt.
Then you, Lestat often complained that you spoiled her too much. You never raised a finger to her, nor your voice. You hadn't been brought up that way, and so you did the same with her. You still remember the night she left. Packing only a few things, while you and Louis tried convincing her to stay. Standing her ground, she gave you both a hug, letting the wind carry her away.
Seven years flew by, silence made its way into the house that no longer felt like a home. Louis nose-deep in book after book, Lestat leaving going god knows where, while you remained secluded, drawing, reading, and sometimes staring at the wall.
Tonight was a rarity, Lestat wasn't running off, and Louis sat on the sofa, reading, while you sat in a chair, your head lying on your arm, taking in the soft jazz music.
Hearing the door open, Claudia entered, setting her suitcase on the floor. Rushing over, you wrapped your arms around her, rocking back and forth. Pulling away, your heart broke as Louis hugged her tightly. He too had been taking it so hard, since she had been gone. Abruptly, the music stopped, Lestat glaring at her.
âThe prodigal daughterâ
âI've come to apologize, I put all of you in a bad spot, I wasn't right in my head. I am now,â she said. You couldn't put your finger on it, but there was something different about her, a certain brokenness, she was trying to shut away.
âApology not accepted,â Lestat said.
âHow was college? Magna cum? Summa cum? Phi Beta Kappa?â he continued.
âI've read a lot of books. Started with Persia and Babylon, the old gods who longed for blood. A lot of it was popcorn, but a few old tomes. A Romanian tract on vampirs. A strange old Hungarian text, âMasticatione Mortuorum,â the chewing dead. I plan to leave for that part of the world as soon as I can,â she told him. You and Louis shared a look, sensing that this wasn't headed in a positive direction.
âSo, quick stop home to do laundry before you fuck off for good,â Lestat spat.
âA quick stop to pick up my mama and Louis,â she told him. Your hand went to your stomach, trying to control the unsettling nervousness building up. Lestat glanced at the two of you, before glaring at her in disgust.
âOh, Perused a few folklore anthologies, and now you're going to cross the ocean and take on a society of monsters,â he said, slowly making his way towards her.
âIf what I've read is lies, then tell me what's true,â she told him, but he only continued to stare at her as if she was beneath him.
âSeven years and whatâs changed, other than you need a housekeeper?â she sneered. He slowly approached her, and as you were about to step forward to intervene, Louis grabbed your hand, discreetly shaking his head.
âThe vampires out thereâŚare vicious. Oh, but you've learned that already. Who did you meet out there in the American hinterland? Read her,â Lestat looked at the two of you, walking away. Staring at her, you quickly wiped the tear from your eye, you couldn't imagine what she had been through all on her own.
âThatâs it, keep 'em scared. That's his way,â she said to you both.
âThe vampires in Europe are much, much worseâ
âBut I think he's scared,â she spoke over him.
âI never asked, how did Charlie taste? Like the love you'll never really know,â he said, trying to get under her skin.
âAnd when he's scared, he ridiculesâ
âShe was a destitute little girl, destined to live an inconsequential little life,â he said, approaching the both of you.
âAnd we took it from her, we cursed her,â Louis said, making the smug expression drop from his face. Looking at you, his frown deepened, seeing you gaze at her, the bloody tears moments from seeping out.
âCome with me!â she called out, both of you staring at her.
âCome with me, mama, Louisâ
âLouis, Y/n,â Lestat said, becoming angry as neither of you looked at him.
âI thought I could live without either of you, but I was wrong,â Claudia said, her eyes pleading for you to come along.
âY/n, Louisâ
âLouis, Y/n,â Lestat continued, raising his voice.
âHis love is a small box he keeps you both in, don't stay in it,â she said, as you glanced at him.
âA thousand nights of sulking, and the first sight of her, you are just gonna up and leave me?!â Lestat yelled.
âPlease, come with me! Letâs be vampires worth of your love!â Claudia screamed before Lestat surged, choking her.
âGet off of her,â you said, going to shove him off of her. However, he was much stronger, gaining the upper hand, his fingers wrapping around your throat, he looked unrecognizable.
âYou, always choosing her,â he spat, before Louis charged over, tackling him.
As they fought, Claudia screamed, panicking, as you tried to keep up with them. Throwing Louis in the living room. Lestat straddled him, punching him in the face.
âLestat, stop it,â you cried out, jumping on his back, but he easily slung you across the room, as you smashed into the wall, you could feel your arm already broken.
âClaudia, stay down here,â you told her, rushing to the bedroom.
âStop fighting,â you screamed, as they continued tackling each other.
âLet him go,â you hear Claudia crying.
âItâs alright, you stay where you're at,â Louis told her, as if he wasn't completely bruised up.
âYou're going to choose her too? Leave me for her when she left you both, Iâve been here,â he told you, as you slowly backed away, unsure of what he'd do next.
âLestat st-
âDo not tell me what to do,â he told you, wrapping his hand around your throat, and pulling you close. His nails were in your skin, with your airway completely blocked.
Dragging both of you downstairs, and outside, you could hear Claudia running.
âI fought myself a million times, fought my nature, controlled my temper. I never once harmed either of you,â he said.
âLet him go,â you cried, hoarsely, trying to claw at his hand, while reaching for Louis.
âSilence,â he told you.
âUncle Lesâ
âIt's Uncle Les, now suddenly?â
âLet them go, they didn't do nothinâ, let them go, it's me you want,â you could hear her steps approaching.
âListen to me, and listen very carefully my infant death, it was never you. No matter how much your mama made you think otherwise,â he spat, crushing your throat, and dragging you both out into the road.
âI chose you, and you, given you the dark gift and you've betrayed me,â he said, biting into your neck, draining almost every ounce of blood from your body, before throwing you, watching as you flew into the backyard, colliding with bricks, you could feel your rib cage shatter.
However, as you stood up, you quickly fell to your knees in pain and fear for Louisâs life, watching as they flew into the sky to the point where they were no longer seen.
âMama, are you alright?â Claudia ran to you, reaching for her hand, your other hand on your throat. You couldn't speak, Lestatâs nails had managed to pierce through. Claudia gasped, as you coughed, blood spilling out.
âAre you okay?â you asked.
âIâm okay, we just need to get Louis,â she said, helping you stand, however, just as you stood, Louis fell from the sky, hitting the ground. Limping over, you were afraid to touch him, the slightest touch looked as if it would break him even more.
Crying, you looked up, staring into Lestatâs eyes as he flew over you all, not saying a word. You couldn't say it, but from your expression, there was no way you could easily forgive him after this.
Healing was a struggle, not just from the physical damage, but any previous trust was gone. While you managed to bounce back within a few months, Louis had a long way to go. Lestat skipped town and hadn't bothered to show his face.
You avoided thinking about him, altogether. Dedicating yourself to Claudia and Louis, from coffin-bound to limping, every day was progress. Louis was slowly getting better and you both worked on strengthing your bond with Claudia. Then the calls started coming.
All of this time, you managed to push through the soreness and pain, but the moment he called you hid away, licking your eternal wounds. He was a completely different person that night, the things he said, the things he'd done. After Louis fully healed, you were no longer opposed to the idea of leaving for Europe with Claudia.
Hearing the doorbell ringing, you turned your head, watching as Claudia went outside. You could hear his voice, he had gifts, and he wanted to talk, to apologize. Louis went upstairs, throwing his coffin out of the window, you couldn't help but snicker.
âThereâs your answerâ
âAnd where is Y/n? I know she would enjoy these paints, they are rare. I paid quite a price because I knew she would make the most beautiful-
âMy mama ain't got nothinâ to say to you, like you said, she betrayed you, choosing me,â she told him, shutting the door, and locking it.
Coming back to the living room, she glanced your way before to Louis, who came from upstairs. As Louis sat next to you, you pulled him close.
âYou okay?â you asked him.
âGetting there,â he mumbled, smiling as you kissed his cheek.
Lestat didn't show his face anymore, but the gifts never stopped. Each time more spontaneous than the next, and while you knew, Louis was becoming weaker, you wished you could say the same for yourself.
âEmily Dickinson is not a vampire,â Louis said, as you laughed.
âHow do you know?â she asked.
âBecause she is dead,â you pointed out.
âHow do you know?â
âShe got a grave,â Louis said.
âAnd a tombstone,â you added.
âSo do you,â She told Louis, all of you laughing, afterward.
As you crossed the streets, the driver honked their horn, as they slowly came to a stop in front of you. Opening the door, Lestat climbed out, smiling at you all. Rolling your eyes, you simply looked the other way.
â25 horsepower Rolls-Royce six-cylinder engine and a front end they call a coffin nose, is that rich? This oneâs yours, mineâs back at home in blue,â he said, showing off the new car, and tossing the keys to Louis.
âI know how much you despise driving, so I got you other things, the finest fabrics, books, art supplies, and music, waiting for you at home, I'm back in town permanently,â he continued, looking your way, but you just stared off to the side, as if you didn't see him.
âWere you gone?â Claudia asked him.
âAcross the river, in Algiers,â he said, you could still feel his eyes on the two of you.
âYou know who lives in Algiersâ Claudia said to you, as you clenched your jaw.
âI don't know what possessed me that night,â he said.
âThree years ago, that night, three years ago, he means,â Claudia corrected him.
âI was someone I don't want to be anymore. I've changed. Let me prove it to you. Iâm nothing without you. Iâm nothing without any of youâ
âIf you want me to go away, just say so. Iâll obey you. Iâll leave your lives forever. This silence is cruel, all I ask is that Y/n looks at me. You haven't spared me a glance since I've been here. Neither of you were ever cruel, don't let our situation change you,â he said.
âJust look at him,â Louis pleaded.
Turning to face him, he cleared his throat, straightening his posture. You didn't say anything, emotionlessly staring at him.
âYou look stunning as always, ma chĂŠrie,â he complimented, his heart breaking as you looked away again.
Taking the keys, Claudia threw them, before scratching the car, reaching for your hand, walking away.
Six years, came and went, and more gifts flooded the house. It was unspoken between you and Louis that you both missed him. Although it looked different, Louis wanted him to come running back, each extravagant, but sentimental gift was tugging more and more at Louisâs heart. You preferred the distance, reminiscing on the past, before that night. You didn't think you could have that back, now, you secretly enjoyed every time he saw you, or wrote to you, begging that you would acknowledge him.
Unexpectedly, it happened, the record came in the mail and was immediately played. The song meant to win you both back while pissing you off, a song sung by his affair partner. Louis was seething, grabbing the record, and ran out of the house.
âYou're not going with him?â Claudia asked.
âThey will be back,â you mumbled, knowing his plan worked, he got through to Louis and would be coming back.
âRule number four-
âKill Antoinetteâ
âAntoinette is my own private-
âAffair,â Claudia said.
âSaid child, interfering in the romantic lives of her parents,â Lestat said, wanting one of you to stop her. She had been sharp with him since the moment he stepped into the house.
âShe will be 33 soon, far from a child,â you reminded him, rolling your eyes.
âItâs a lick and a promise in vampire years,â he shrugged.
âMaybe, but I am not your child anymore, that's rule number five,â Claudia said, catching his attention.
His eyes shifted from her to you, your interlocked hands. She had you, wrapped around her fingers, taken from him. Louis was more willing to work on the broken relationship, but you had shut him out, choosing your child.
âIâll be your companion, your sister,â she told him, as he scoffed.
âIt's not as simple as choosing a new family configuration, now I'm your cousin, now I'm your aunt, I am your maker,â he told her rudely.
âIâm going to bed,â you said, standing abruptly, he looked into your cold eyes, searching for any emotion.
âWill you not lay down your rules, as well?â he asked, sarcastically.
âGood night,â was all you said, turning away, going upstairs.
âShe needs time,â you could hear Louis say.
Did you need more time? You didn't go through nearly as much as Louis and he managed to forgive him, why couldn't you? You were never maternal until Claudia came along, perhaps it came with being a mother. The way that he treated her, turned you against him. As much as you loved him, thinking back to the times you were spoiled, lavished as if you were royalty, you couldn't bring yourself to open up.
Hunting became insufferable. Louis began drinking human blood, it was supposed to bring everyone closer, hunting as a family, but you kept your distance. He knew he'd wounded you, his choice of words hurting you just as bad, and he'd have to be more persistent to win you back.
âI wished youâd look at me, the simplest glance would help me a great deal,â he said, following you, sighing in relief as you faced him.
âHappy?â
âYou have my heart at your will, your precious words command me, and I would do anything you ask of me,â he said, trying to fight the tears, as you slowly approached him.
âTake up your heart, I wouldn't want you to feel betrayed when I don't choose you,â you said, turning around, leaving him to stand there and try to gather his emotions.
âCould you at least try to compromise?â Louis asked you, as you looked through the different fabrics in the store.
âI am-
âNo, you're not, you put your coffin in Claudiaâs room, and the other night, whatever you said, he cried himself to sleepâ
âAw, poor baby,â you said, placing the fabrics into Louisâ arms.
âYou agreed that we would work things out, everybody is compromising trying to work through our problems, we need you too,â he said, pouting, as you approached the cash register.
âFine, I hate when you give me that look,â you playfully rolled your eyes at him.
âThank you, I love you,â you grinned.
âI love you,â you laughed, pecking his lips.
Later that night, after putting away your things, and changing into your nightgown, you were about to into Claudiaâs room, when you stopped. Huffing, you went to your shared bedroom, opening the door.
âDid she say anything? I left a note, but she never responds,â Lestat grumbled.
âI talked with her, but it is up to her to make a decision,â Louis said.
âI hope you don't expect us to squeeze that coffin,â you said, making both of them face you.
âWe could always sleep in the bed,â Louis offered, both of them approaching you.
âThank youâ he said, as you faced Lestat.
âWill you keep that stupid look on your face, or will you speak?â you asked.
âI didn't know it was okay for me to do so,â he chuckled.
âY/n is willing to compromise, she hasn't said it verbally, but she does still love you,â Louis spoke, as you stared at the two of them.
âMa chĂŠrie, if I could take back what I've said, what Iâve done-
âBut you can'tâ
âI can't, and I will have to live with the burden of knowing I hurt you and Louis both, your role in Claudiaâs life was never a problem, I am sorry, my love,â he said, walking to you, falling to his knees in front of you. His head laid against your stomach, and he continued to apologize profusely.
âTo have you look at me, after months of refusal, even if it is a look of anger, is to see heaven,â he said, looking up at you. Reaching for his hand, you helped him stand, pecking his lips. Holding your hand out for Louis, as soon as he was close enough, your lips were on his soft skin.
Pushing Lestat onto the bed, you straddled his lap, rolling your hips, as Louis stood behind you, kissing your neck. Leaning down, you wrapped your hands around his neck.
âIâll forgive you, but if you ever do anything remotely similar, Iâll make sure you burn in the sun, and Iâll wear you as makeup,â you said, making him smirk.
âAnything you say, although the thought of me being on your face, arouses me greatly,â he said, watching as you pulled Louis onto the bed, moving over to him.
Your nearly decade-long monogamy had now come to an end, sharing the night with Louis and Lestat. You had forgotten how spontaneous he was, managing to pleasure both of you.
âHave you taken him back, like Louis?â Claudia asked.
âFor nowâ you thought, as Lestat kissed along your shoulder blade.
âDo you think Louis will help?â
âHe willâ
âDo you think it will work?â
âI don't know, my child, but we will tryâ
âWe can do it, mama, he wants to keep you and Louis for himself, he hates me and would probably kill me if it meant having you both aloneâ
âI knowâ
Now lying in bed, Lestat in between you and Louis, both of you in his arms.
âI hope you will allow me to continue to prove myself to you, and I am lost without either of you, I feel empty without you both here with me, I love you,â he spoke, you couldn't deny the way your heart fluttered.
âThen it is official, we will kill Lestatâ
âAnd if our plan doesn't work?â
âThen we escape to Europe, we find other vampires, and we rebuild our lives there, does that sound okay?â
âIt sounds perfectâ
âGreat, good night mamaâ
âGood night, my childâ
Looking up at Lestatâs face, he lay peacefully, his eyes shut, face relaxed. He was incredibly handsome, you didn't dare tell Claudia but coming to this room, you were just as weak as Louis. Would you be able to kill this beautiful man, the love of your life? Or run away and live an eternity with your daughter? You couldn't decide anymore, only time would tell.

*rolls up 15 years late with Avatar the Last Airbender thoughts*
So I've been rewatching clips from the show lately to refresh my memory while I'm writing my Zuko Alone fanfic. And last night I rewatched the clip where Iroh teaches Zuko how to redirect lightning and I have had thoughts about this scene for years so I might as well finally throw them into the void of tumblr.
So, this scene is insane to me, because at the end of learning how he could-hypothetically- redirect lightning, Zuko looks at Iroh and, completely seriously says "okay I'm ready to try it with the real thing now". Like, Zuko, the boy with a massive scar on his face from where his father burned him just looks at his uncle and says, "shoot me with lightning".
And yes, he's 16 and not thinking but that's part of the point because the amount of blind, complete trust Zuko has in Iroh to look at him and say "shoot lightning at me" after the insane trauma he had at the hands of his own father- that is WILD to me. Zuko literally trusts Iroh so much that he just assumes, without even having to think about it, that no matter how volatile and unpredictable the lightning is, Iroh won't hurt him because Zuko cannot fathom his uncle hurting him.
And of course, Iroh's appalled because Zuko's standing there with a massive scar on his face from when his father misused firebending against him and likewise, Iroh cannot fathom hurting Zuko. And since IROH knows how volatile and unpredictable lightning is and how it could literally kill his son nephew he is absolutely NOT going to use it just to let Zuko practice redirecting lightning, but he's so flabbergasted that Zuko would even ask him that that he just kind of splutters angrily that he will ABSOLUTELY NOT shoot lightning at Zuko. (it's also just another layer of how messed up Ozai is because he shot lightning at Zuko without a second thought later)
But I hope Iroh thought about it later and realized the amount of pure, unthinking trust Zuko has in him because ;-; the child didn't even THINK about it. "Okay uncle shoot lightning at me now. I know I'll be safe because it's you." I love them so much đđ

REWATCHING SEASON 2 EPISODE 7 OF ARCANE
+ some of my highlights and notable moments that I enjoyed bc people canât understand media anymore
This is mostly an infodump of stuff I can fit into a twitter thread/didn't rly want to make into a thread. I'm not great at words so I apologize in advance, I am sure there are many people much better at analysis than I.
I want to start off by saying I am heavily invested in timebomb so this is very much going to be a ship analysis. If you're looking for someone unbiased i am very much not the person for that đ
FIRST OFF:
The disc on the music box is adorable!!! It features au Powder (who I am going to refer to as just Powder for the duration of my analysis) and au Ekko
Compared to the normal Disc
This is very obviously because it takes place in a different universe, one without Vi or "Jinx".
The first scene starts off with AU Ekko writing in his notebook. (Cute mention is Powder's doodle in his notebook!!) Then we see flashes of the wild rune. This is when AU Ekko switches to canon Ekko.
Also one of my favorite silly images from this episode is this one.. Powder is being so adorable and Ekko is just scared out of his MIND. it's so silly.
In the Last drop, Powder asks Ekko. "What is up with you? You've been out of it all day?". One thing I noticed in my rewatch is that i think Powder is aware this Ekko isn't HER Ekko. This is just one instance of many that makes me think this.
This hideout seems so much more vibrant and loved, similar to Jinx's hideout after Isha. It's colorful. There are guard rails that I like to think was pushed by Vander. We can see Ekko's art scattered around. It just shows how much more support and family Powder has compared to Jinx, which i mention a lot.
Id also like to note Ekko being shocked au him went to powder for help. In his mind at this time he believes Jinx to be all that is left, no more Powder. Through out the episode we see that change.
Notice how Powder gets upset at Ekko in this scene. However, she doesn't react explosively like Jinx would've. She handled it in a way that shows she had support. She told him to leave instead. Again, the main difference between Powder and Jinx isn't only Vi but also the existence of multiple support systems that Jinx simply didn't have.
THIS FLASHBACK! Oh my god this flashback. The fact it happened after he upset Powder? I think it shows just how much he truly cares about Jinx/Powder. He remembers VIVIDLY the day that he thought he killed her. Jinx was his childhood best friend, and I don't think that kind of feeling ever truly goes away. He doesn't want to hurt any version of her, not even the alternate universe her. We see that showcased more later on. Also, random probably insane note. He is interrupted by small children playing, having fun. This isn't a coincidence, it shows he does miss the moments from when they were kids.
While talking with Heimerdinger, we see Ekko look at Powder multiple times. Watching her laugh and be expressive, he smiles. When she doesn't return it we see him get upset. Once more this brings me to my point that he doesn't want to hurt her. Considering he hasn't known this Powder very long you can see where I gather my point that he doesn't want to hurt her in GENERAL. Any version of her.
THIS SCENE!! He is such a bad liar it's adorable. This brings me to my earlier point, Powder knows what's up!! She suspects something 100%. He is talking about this dream her like it was real.
"You aren't the kind of person who helps other people with their projects. Your ideas change the world. I can't shake the feeling that that's who you're supposed to be."
Are you LISTENING TO THIS? He is obviously talking about Jinx. You can tell this by the first sentence because obviously Powder IS that kind of person. He's starting to see that Jinx is just a part of Powder, one that is unavoidable and that he unknowingly appreciates in a sense. Like two sides of one coin he can't see Powder without Jinx and that is good. I think it is here he realizes truly just how much he cares about Jinx.
This whole montage is beautiful but I want to zero in on two things. Powder's reaction to the notebook and how she looks at Ekko after. NOW THIS. This is the nail in the coffin for her. She knows that this is not her Ekko. She has fully gathered that he isn't from this universe.

THIS WHOLE SCENE. I AM NOT ANALYZING THE WHOLE THING HERE BUT IT IS GORGEOUS. I saw someone talking about how it was animated on 4's to signify the way Ekko can only go back 4 seconds and I honestly shed a tear. THE SONG TOO? I encourage everyone to look at the lyrics because they're beautiful.
Okay now for my favorite part of this episode so much to dissect and i'm totally going to mansplain but yk..
"I used to dream the undercity could be like this" â That sets the tone for the whole conversation and just what world he is talking about. The canon one.
"But somewhere, I got consumed by all the ways it wasn't. I gave up on it. Gave up on YOU." â Heavy emphasis on this line. Once more he is talking about Jinx. He is talking about how he got so consumed by the way that Jinx wasn't good, and he gave up on her. Believed she was irredeemable. Powder showed him that Jinx is capable of love and happiness, it's just under that tough protective shell. The undercity in the metaphor is Jinx, from my interpretation.
"I promise i'll never forget this." â Now time for my insanity. He doesn't forget this. That's why he saves Jinx from ending her life in the first place. He remembers Powder and knows that with the right support Jinx doesn't have to be the way she is. It's not that she "needs to be fixed" she just needs to be LOVED, like Powder. He sees that now. He sees how in the au the love that everyone shares for one another shaped the undercity beautifully, and made everyone in it much healthier mentally despite going through hardships. That is beautiful. People with mental illness are not unlovable they just need more support, it can't be cured, or fixed just healed. Mental illness is always there it is how you DEAL with it that matters.
Nothing too major to talk about with the kiss. It's sweet I love it, but nothing too notable for me to say about it.
Finally, Ekko leaves the au. I have seen people say that this is a sacrifice, he could've had everything he wanted and he gave it up to save the people at home. But i take insanity to another level. I see this as him appreciating his home. He knows he can never truly love this Powder because she isn't the version he fell in love with. He learned to appreciate Jinx even through her flaws, and that while this world has everything he could want and more he can have that home too.
I am experiencing HEAVY timebomb brainrot if you canât already tell. I was tired of people taking things in the complete wrong way with this episode, if anyone has different views pls tell me I love hearing how other people took certain scenes. there are a few scenes I love but I wouldâve made this post way too long..

okay okay okay thoughts/excited ramblings about the wicked movie under the cut bc i've seen it and now i'm insane about it again
let's be real it's kinda hard to fumble the opening number of a musical especially when that opening number is no one mourns the wicked and yet i was still absolutely blown away it was SO GOOD
the lil munchkins running, the singing in the streets, the posters of the witch (side note all the artwork was insanely good and just added so much to the style of oz i feel like) it was all so awesome
NOMTW becomes so sinister and they nailed it
obligatory emotional babbling about glinda standing alone in the crowd as everyone sings 'the wicked's lives are lonely'
before i left for the theater i was like 'take your bets on if i'll cry' and my roommate and i agreed that yeah obviously i would. but what i didn't expect is for ariana's sad face to knock me out in five minutes flat. i was done for
the effigy. holy shit. and handing the torch to glinda. i want to go see the whole thing again just so i can rewatch that scene. my heart still hurts
(also nanny! sort of not really. but i liked the childhood scenes i liked that elphaba had one (1) good thing in her life before shiz)
SHIZ okay shiz honestly shiz was the thing i was most excited for bc c'mon, we don't write about our gothic magic school all the time in fic for nothing. and honestly it was so good. the shots of the whole castle! the library design! the balcony moments and the stairways and just like the layers of architecture and the way morrible could kind of be anywhere at any time. the way it felt so grand and yet so small at the same time. idk man the vibes were good and the set was beautiful
glinda arriving by boat was magical that's all
the way everything dillamond had was tailored to him was fantastic it was so good
actually i want to shout out the library set design again and how it tied into the clockwork theme that never gets fully called out even in the musical but it's still so good

also back up the scene where elphaba loses her temper in the courtyard--when she breaks the relief of the wizard, there's old artwork of Animals behind it and i gasped out loud when i saw it
and that was the first moment i thought 'this is brilliant but i still want an hbo dark fantasy political drama tv show based on the book'
speaking of the dark fantasy political drama tv shows, the Animal meeting!! i'm so glad they put more stuff like that in there
actually as a whole the movie felt more grounded and less comedic than the musical. i think they did a fantastic job of keeping the magic and silliness and charm and wonder of the show while still adding those extra bits of drama and dire circumstances
anyway gelphie fic prank wars trope is officially canon great work everybody handshakes all around. i was cackling (silently. i promise i'm a respectful moviegoer)
the ozdust ballroom being illegal makes so much sense. it being underwater was fucking cool. boq and nessa were actually really great and i usually don't care about them at all during this scene
also i love love love nessa and i cannot wait to see more of her. but showing her multiple times on the sidelines when elphie was being humiliated was such a good choice. the tension between nessa obviously caring for her sister yet always caring for herself more is so delicious and i always want to see it fleshed out more, and i think they did such a good job with her? her and elphaba have sweet moments which i love, and her wanting to be independent and only elphaba really understanding that is so so good. and having her just watching elphaba for so long before finally saying she can't watch. god i can't wait to see her be desperate and selfish and cold in act 2, it's gonna be so good
side note boq also looking upset by elphie being bullied. i miss my brotp man
but let's talk about what's most important: the gelphie dance. because oh my god i started crying all over again. so did elphaba. and glinda wiping her tears i'm dying i've died oh my god
i always get a little bit surprised when glinda seems more head over heels than elphaba. idk why. but ariana's glinda is absolutely more head over heels than cynthia's elphaba and i loved it
(they just. freaking LEFT the party. just zipped out of there as soon as they hugged. glinda was like hmmm i just realized some things and grabbed elphaba's hand and ran off while the night was young. and fiyero stared after them knowing that he stood no chance whatsoever)
also i'm like 72% sure the guys sitting next to me were a couple? and they both cried during the gelphie dance too and it was a very unexpected but very funny moment of solidarity
i say ariana's glinda is more head over heels and i stand by it but elphaba's fond little smile when glinda was pouting about sharing secrets almost made me start sobbing again they're so GOOD they're so CUTE and she is SO heart eyes for glinda immediately!!!

i say this jokingly but the fiyero and elphaba romance really does feel like a product of the early 2000s especially now that it's on screen rather than on stage. idk maybe that's just the lesbian in me talking though
the train design is also sick but we knew that from the trailers
okay look logically yes i knew idina and kristin would have cameos. but i'd been crying on and off and one short day's magic had already taken hold so they caught me completely off guard. it was great
the wizard stuff was really sweet. and while i was hoping for more time put toward shiz and stuff, i do think those moments did a great job of 1) showing how much elphaba just wants to be loved 2) foreshadowing the wizard being her father and 3) laying the groundwork for her briefly considering working with the wizard in act 2, which is a decision that never quiteee feels right in the show
i love that they put more lore into the grimmerie btw. very cool
the hot air balloon was random but fun. i wonder if it'll come up again in act 2
every time. every damn time glinda starts singing in defying gravity i just want someone to end it right there. glinda grabs the broom, it fades to black, and they both lived happily ever after

So I was rewatching Good omens and I realized something.
Season 2 brings up Memory. A lot
Specifically Crowleys memory
In every episode something is said about it and I find this really interesting
Iâm only going to bring up what I think are major, I want to note there are more instances than this. This is gonna be messy and a little disorganized since Iâm just throwing my words on this post as I think of them and read the episode transcripts but I had to write it out.
In Episode 1 we see pre-fall Crowley and are introduced to our amnesiac archangel. This will be important later
We donât see much of Crowleys memory loss in this episode but the biggest example I could find was the way Beelzebub had said Extreme Sanctions after Crowley misunderstood
It was as if they were expecting him to remember
In Episode 2 we get the first blatant hint of Crowleys memory loss
When Gabriel said he couldnât remember, Crowley doesnât say âWell try anywayâ
He says âYes you can.â
Crowley knew Gabriel could remember, he knew he could make himself remember. As if he knew it from experience.
Also in this episode we get Crowleys âIâm a demon, I lied.â As well as several other instances where he lies in this episode.
I also feel like his âLonlinessâ is important to point out, because I feel like that goes much much deeper than â[Iâm on] my sideâ
In Episode 3 we get Crowley and Gabrielâs Conversation about âGravityâ
Crowley knows what gravity is on a base level. But he says âI donât rememberâ when asked why gravity exists and proceeds to give a very nondescript explanation
Now for Episode 4. This episode is actually what triggered me to start looking for these instances.
Because of Furfur
Near the end of the episode when Furfur enters the dressing room he mentions that him and Crowley were directly next to eachother during the Great War, as well as the fact Crowley used to jump on his back âLike a little monkey in a waistcoatâ
And Crowley didnât remember
All he remembered was going to war
Why does Furfur â A demon â remember but Crowley doesnât?
In Episode 5 we get one of the most crucial âmemoryâ scenes imo
The aftermath of Crowley threatening Gabriel
When Gabriel tells Crowley âIt hurts to remember, my head isnât built for thatâ Crowley replies with âI know, do it anywayâ
Again it sounds like Crowley is speaking from experience
The most important quote to me though is when Crowley says âI know, looking at where the furniture isnât.â
Because after the fact he proceeds to ask Gabriel if he wants a hot chocolate
This wasnât a sympathetic action. It was Empathetic.
He feels for Gabriel, he knows what itâs like to not know
Finally in Episode 6 we get context.
This is where the whole amnesiac archangel comes into play.
Before I get into that though I want to bring up Crowleys meeting with Saraquael. Because something interesting stood out to me while reading her voicelines. After Crowley asks âDo we know eachother?â Saraquael says âWhen you were an Angelâ and pauses before she says the following voiceline âWe worked together on the horsehead nebulaâ
Those were two different sentences. Iâm definitely looking too far into this but to me it sounded like she knew he wouldnât remember so she gave unnecessary context. This as well as the fact she didnât respond when Crowley essentially said he didnât remember her.
Back to my original point though, during this episode we finally learn how (and why) Gabriel lost his memories. Angels can remove their own memories as well as have their memories removed by other angels.
But clearly Furfur still has his memories, as well as Shax, Dagon, and Beelzebub
And anytime Crowley mentions ârememberingâ something itâs post-fall
Adding on Neilâs post about âCrowley not being a reliable narrator on his fallâ as well as showing Crowley pre-fall in episode one leads me to believe thereâs some foreshadowing in there and something happened to Crowleys memory.
But What?
Why doesnât he remember?
What did they do to him?

little observations of episode 16 of revolutionary girl utena: cowbell of happiness
(these are just some thoughts i had. i tried to organise and articulate the ideas the best i could.)
(all dialogues are from the empty movement website)
this is a nanami-centric episode. it begins with the regular fairy-tale-like scene of utena meeting prince dios when she was younger.
this is an interesting screenshot from episode 16:
the dialogue for this scene (as in, for this specific shot):
as anyone can see, utena wasn't wearing her red socks here (she wore the red socks even when she decided to wear the girl's uniform in episode 12 [screenshots from episode 12 below, for clarity]). thus, this shot caught my eye.

the dialogue for this scene (as in, for this specific shot):
at first, i surmised that these were just animation errors because these shots lasted for only several seconds. however, upon watching and rewatching several times, the only times utena didn't wear her red socks were when she's directly confronting nanami about the cowbell. utena was the only person openly calling out nanami about it, as opposed to others who either ridiculed, ignored, or tiptoed around the matter. tsuwabuki tried saying something about the cowbell to nanami, too, but was quickly shot down by her:
generally, not wearing socks while wearing shoes can be somewhat uncomfortable, especially for long periods. it's much worse when one walks or runs while wearing shoes without socks, as this could cause skin irritations, foot blisters, etc.
when people buy certain types of shoes (or any, i think), it's common to buy shoes with a little room for toes and heels, rather than a tight, perfect fit, for comfort. when worn with a pair of socks, these shoes would usually fit perfectly. without socks, these shoes can feel loose and thus, affect gait/movements (i believe this depends on the type of shoes).
based on some readings i've done, some of the common interpretations/themes of nanami's situation in this episode (oversimplified):
exploitation and abuse of girls and women via indoctrination of patriarchal norms that simply equate them to mere livestock; raised as subservient as a calf to then be slaughtered and reduced to a piece of meat to be consumed by men.
nanami was so blinded by the love she held for her big brother that she was willing to do anything to keep that love, to maintain her bond with him. she was willing to make a fool of herself, and ignore the ridicule and concerns from others. however, deep down, she was aware of how this could all go wrong and hurt her terribly later, and all of this could very much be orchestrated by her own beloved big brother. (i hope i worded these properly)
to relate the themes of the episode to the visuals of utena not wearing socks and her dialogues: in my opinion, i think utena calling out nanami on the cowbell puts utena in a somewhat uncomfortable position (hence, wearing shoes with no socks); it's akin to challenging detrimental societal norms of a patriarchal system. notable examples that come to mind regarding detrimental societal norms are fashion and beauty standards (as in this episode). people usually don't take too kindly to the safety of their realities and status quo being challenged/questioned critically, because these are what they have been raised with, what were taught to them, and what they have been made to believe to be right and true. therefore, the person who challenges/questions these is often ignored or triggers aggressive reactions, even from the individuals who have been detrimentally affected by the status quo, in this case, nanami. "the deeper the attachment to the status quo, the greater the willful blindness." this quote by clark (2023) from his writing about challenging one's organisation's status quo felt fitting for nanami's situation (although the case with nanami definitely requires more nuances than what the quote can present).
nanami said that utena's boy uniform was very weird (dialogues above) in response to utena calling nanami's cowbell weird (2nd picture). they perceived the other's pursuit as weird because it didn't align with their ideals (an adult's fashion sense versus a noble prince). these things weren't quite the same, in a literal sense: nanami essentially wore the cowbell to appeal to the students of the academy, to be an idol of the school, to stand out, be special. meanwhile, utena wore a boy's uniform to become a prince/emulate princely ideals. however, fundamentally, both did not truly understand (at this point, at least) what these truly entailed (to be the most special girl at school versus to be a prince).
when nanami said that utena's uniform was very weird, the focus was on chu chu drinking milk from a bottle. then, at the end of the argument, chu chu was shown to have been stuck in the milk bottle, after drinking the milk. these visuals may be indicating how nanami and utena's attempts at striving towards respective impossible ideals they envisioned for themselves may be self-fulfilling at first, but will eventually have them equally trapped and hurt, you know, something like "in the end, all girls are like rose brides." (i may be wrong here)
a look at other episodes: one may say that the shots where utena didn't wear her red socks were indeed animation errors based on this shot from episode 24:
however, this shot was from the scene of episode 16 as narrated by anthy based on what was written in tsuwabuki's diary. we can see this as tsuwabuki's perspective while the previous shots as the audience's perspective (this is how i chose to see it, at least).
watching through other episodes, utena also wasn't wearing her socks when her foot was injured in episode 30, throughout episode 33, and in episode 37 when utena went on a date with akio. i pondered the correlation between utena's sans red socks moments from episode 16 and those specific events. based on episode 12, i think one can conclude that the pair of red socks was a part in which utena expressed her sense of self (because it made up her whole outfit of emulating a prince). hence, i think that nanami's situation in this episode was also a foreshadowing of utena's future, in a way (this was also illustrated with the chu chu stuck in a milk bottle imagery after drinking the milk during their argument, as above). as described earlier, utena called out nanami twice on her cowbell; on the second time, utena thoroughly explained to nanami in japanese that a cowbell is a bell that cows wear, as in the dialogues below (the following scene after these dialogues was the 5th picture; 6th picture contained the corresponding dialogues):
i think it's safe to conclude that nanami may not know what the english word "cowbell" means. this was further emphasised by utena admonishing nanami for not knowing what a cowbell is all about (see the 6th picture). everyone around her called it "cowbell" and knew what it was (what the word meant). upon explanation by utena, nanami finally came to her senses (as in, turning into a cow). relating to utena's case in later episodes, i think this could be synonymous with the fact that utena was unaware that akio was actively grooming her. several people noticed the changes in utena due to akio's grooming: juri and miki in episode 36, where juri said that utena looked more like a girl; touga asking whether utena was in love with akio in the same episode. and of course, anthy was the most aware of what akio's doing to utena throughout.
the point detailed above regarding nanami's situation in episode 16 foreshadowing utena's future can be further supported by the fact that the cowbell and the earrings akio gifted to utena were closely identical in design (interesting to note that the cowbell was purchased by anthy for her cow named nanami while the earrings were picked by touga on behalf of akio).
from my understanding, nanami turning into a cow may be equivalent to utena accepting akio's proposal to be his bride, to take kanae's place. much like a calf raised to be slaughtered for consumption (nanami's dream), akio groomed utena to be his bride. and similar to how wearing shoes without socks can be uncomfortable, utena was evidently uncomfortable in these scenes as well (the worst being episode 33). in episode 30, utena's left foot was injured. akio offered to help her, then proceeded to kiss her. akio was grooming utena to be fully dependent on him. also, since the red socks were synonymous with her self-expression, these moments (episodes 30, 33, and 37) were when her true sense of self was gradually repressed through akio's grooming. utena not wearing the red socks during the most gut-wrenchingly blatant depictions of grooming and sexual assault âś how grooming and abuse can ultimately strip you of your personhood and cultivate this cycle of dependence of victims on their groomers/abusers, not being able to stand on their own feet.
after nanami turned into a cow, utena tried, and succeeded, in taking off the cowbell from nanami. i think this would be analogous to utena rejecting akio's proposal.
nanami then turned back to her human self âś utena wearing back her prince outfit.
to reiterate:
critiquing the status quo may induce harsh feedback even if it's done in good faith.
nanami's situation in this episode can be seen as a foreshadowing of utena's fate in later episodes.

Nah i need to talk about Earthspark Starscream for a sec.
I'm so, so so very angry about it btw. First, they gave us inplications that he could MAYBE change. Maybe not entirely good, but maybe not quite as evil as before. Not only that he had someone that tried to care about him genuinely, and still did.
Secondly, while it was tame- Megatron and Starscream still talked. It was so important. They should have gotten another chance.
I'm not saying Starscream in any universe has to forgive Megatron, but Earthspark could have made a really emotional and valuable scene between those two. They NEVER ever give a chance for Megatron to mourn or grieve the other Decepticons? Even if he hates Starscream still? Thats a lot of change for someone.
In season 2 they want Starscream to be the big bad and its just.. why? They could've done that but had him help in the end.
And then finally.. season 3. Where they tease us a lot- which i will admit i thought they wouldn't ever come back to him and just tease. And when they finally show him- he's "crazy", AND his supporter stabs him.
I'm sorry, what the actual fuck? As someone who is psychotic, and an abuse surviver, this is absolutely disgusting writing and i don't want to hear "they had limited time and new writers" as an excuse.
You know what you do? You have him help vaguely, and then he fucking leaves, if you can't be bothered to properly redeem him or anything else.
And since we are here, Earthspark s1 was good. Thats it. It focused too much on the humans ( which i DO appreciate and find it beautiful that the main humans are non-white. ) and not enough on the robots. I'm rewatching G1 and even though it spend a lot of time with humans- it still mainly focused on the robots.
Same with Transformers Prime and Animated.
I am so tired of series like this almost making me feel emotional and then its flat. Its like- Almost there, and then its like the producers are like "Oh remember this is a kids show and also only for kids. Btw this is a kids show. Dont be too emotional. Throw in a joke".
They could have had Megatron at least be the one to go get Starscream in the end to start that road of "i want to try to help you" PROPERLY.
The IMPACT of it all. The emotion it would have had. Not that Starscream is emotional nor is Megatron, but if they had written it right. They could have done it in a way where the abuser isn't forgiven, but they both help each other become better people within the moment. Or fuck- even a dangerous fight between the two ( worse than the first one ) with Starscream PROPERLY calling Megatron out with an audience of the terrans, Decepticons and autobots, maybe even Dottie.
Make it an emotional episode for lore and implications that are good enough for kids to understand ( see The Owl House ) and make it an episode about Growing as a person/bot and that its okay to be hurt, you don't have to forgive people that have hurt you + you don't have beat yourself up for being a bad person, you just keep working on yourself.
But also this has the Decepticons REALLY realize how bad it was, as well as the Autobots ( though i feel like Optimus and Elita already would know ), and Dottie could talk to the Terrans about it, and thats how it could've been "a kids show lesson" or whatever.
Sorry i rambled i am just so. We could have had it all.

Hello! I am interpreting your ask to mean you want bls that 1) are focused on a Big Love Story as their main purpose and 2) have strong writing that nails the romance, in particular. With that in mind, here's what I would recommend in addition to the ones you already listed, sorted into a few categories.
Dramatic and Swoony
La Pluie
Two soulmates (or are they?) meet, try to figure out their relationship, and decide whether they care what destiny has to say about it. Also features an equally swoony side couple romance. This show is Big Romance all around and very much in conversation with the genre.
I Feel You Linger in the Air
It doesn't get much more epic and swoony than this show about a modern gay man who gets sent back in time and falls in love with a young heir. This one has an asterisk next to the strong writing criteria because things get pretty wobbly in the final arc, but the romance stays strong throughout and it features some of the best bl romance scenes of all time.
Bad Buddy
It's gay Romeo and Juliet, but nobody dies (though importantly, someone does get shot). This one is tumblr famous for a reason!
Romantic Comedy
Cooking Crush
The sweetest romcom Off and Gun have ever made, with a simple love story between a med student and a chef. This show has some flaws--they let a drunk monkey take over the editing booth on a few episodes in the middle--but it's well written and the romance is great.

It's not a traditional romance but it is a deeply moving one, and if you like it there's a sequel season and movie that are both also great.

The messy angst-ridden friends to lovers drama we deserve. Don't skip the special episode, it's one of the rare cases where the special is actually crucial to the story and not just bonus fluff.
My Tooth Your Love
This one is romcom shaped but also deals a lot with trauma, so on balance it's more of an angsty romance. Warning for dentistry (which I recently learned is an issue for a lot of folks on here).

A pandemic-era romance that starts long distance before our boys can come together in real life. Definitely watch both seasons!
Jack Oâ Frost
The only bl that has ever used the amnesia trope well. A romance gone wrong that gets an unexpected second chance after an accident forces a reset of their relationship. I found the themes of generosity and forgiveness in this one really moving.
Seven Days
This one is what it says on the tin--spend a week with two teenage boys as they try out dating each other. I really love the structure of this one, and the romance is well done.

"just be grateful for what you got!" "was it perfect? no! but we got some good stuff!" "people are just being so down about season 3"
There is a reason people are displeased.
We are consumers of this media. We PAID for this media. With time, with money, with subscriptions. We bought the merch, we watched the promos, we paid in attention, we paid financially, we paid literally and metaphorically.
And they did not deliver.
So, yes, we have a right to complain because objectively speaking, it was a bad ending. It just was! It was poorly written and poorly edited, it did not leave viewers happy, and there is a REASON the engagement of part 2 is much lower than part 1. Polin is not the problem, sidelining Polin is the problem. Writing Polin poorly is the problem. Shoving Colin to the side (half of the pairing) is the problem. Inconsistent characterization is the problem.
the fact that we came in with high expectations and they were let down for us? makes it a bad ending. makes it bad writing. the fact that we waited 2 years for it and then another month in between and did not walk away feeling as though that time was worthwhile? makes it a bad ending.
the writing was disjointed, characters were underutilized, Colin was pushed aside in his OWN SEASON, they tried to do a #girlbossfeminism narrative and then threw Cressida to the wolves because she did a few things that hurt the main heroine's feelings, even after showing us as viewers we should (and do) empathize with her. I mean, for fuck's sake, there was literally a big speech and everyone clapped moment. stakes were defanged, there were threesome scenes that cut any and all tension building between Polin, Eloise's character was written inconsistently for the sake of swift forgiveness, they threw Babies ever After at us, momifying the one character who was said to be plus size representation at NINETEEN, there were more sex scenes for Benedict than there were for the main couple Polin. Lady Whistledown was a black hole for good quality because instead of writing a narrative that suited the couple's ending, they wrote a narrative to keep her as a plot device by any means possible. This season was a roller coaster that went up up up and then stagnated.
there are legitimate criticisms to be had about this season. as if we don't have a right to demand good quality from something we paid for.
and the worst part of it is that they set it up SO. WELL.
I ended Part 1 pacing my apartment, giddy and kicking my feet and rewatching the ending over and over. Part 2? None of that. And the reason people have been so negative about it is that IT SHOWS.
Yes, in part, some negativity is homophobia for Michaela, who I honest to god adore and am so happy to see on screen. Yes, in part, some negativity is for Polin from haters, a couple I love with all my heart.
But most of the negativity comes down to poor writing. Inconsistency. A lack of bravery for dropping a plot device (Lady Whistledown) that the show has held onto not for Penelope or for Polin, but for Bridgerton's story moving forward that writers do not feel confident portraying without a narrator so it might crutch them.
Stop licking a plate of crumbs and claiming it a meal. They had 2 years to deliver a fantastic season. They didn't do so. That is not at all on the actors, because they are FANTASTIC, it is on the writers, and on the production. Was it beautiful? Sure. Was it well acted? Absolutely. Was it good? Well edited? Well written? Meaningful? Fun?
No.
There are parts of it that are, but when you fumble an ending, it sours the entire experience. The reason people loved Part 1 so much was because of the ending of Episode 4, which was done beautifully. It felt satisfying. And then Part 2 felt like an entirely different beast. If you settle for mediocrity, that is all you will get. So yes, I demand better of this season. I demand that we get more than just one thirty second scene of Pen and Colin being intimate after their marriage. I demand more characterization and time devoted to the main couple instead of useless side plots. I demand better writing. I demand better EDITING. Cressida was done dirty, Colin was done dirty, Eloise was done dirty, Penelope was done dirty. And at the end of it, VIEWERS were done dirty.
There's a reason Part 1 had such glowing positivity and then Part 2 is garnering horribly mixed reactions. It's because one is better than the other. And if this show is CAPABLE of delivering content like Part 1, then yes, I will absolutely demand it of part 2. One day, Bridgerton will learn how to write a proper final episode, a proper closing to an arc.
That day was not in Season 3.

Arcane S2 Thoughts
I've had a week to digest this season and well, I guess I have the unpopular opinion of being very disappointed. After the initial flash of gorgeous animation and some ooo's and awe's.... I was left with a bitter aftertaste. I can rewatch S1 loads of time. I don't think I can watch S2 again.
I'm happy for the fans that loved it and got what they wanted or the shippers that got what they wanted. I'm happy for you. Do your thing.
Me? Not so much. Even as a Silco fan (and I admit to squeeing for any footage of him at first), I'm not pleased. Yeah, my young Silco is a nerd, man-bun hottie, but that's where it ended for me. His entire characterization was nothing like the character I fell head over heels for in S1.
Vander's Flashback: I honestly don't find Felicia's inclusion necessary at all. In fact, I think it waters down everything between Silco and Vander. Their knowing her and the kids creates more questions, plotholes, and problems than it supposedly solves.
Why is Vander only in those memories with the kids? It's before the fallout with Silco. Why don't the kids know or remember nice Silco? Why do they only fear him (obv that's from Vander and Benzo, yes?)?
Why doesn't Silco seem to know Powder at Vander's dead body? Why would he kill Felicia's kids? None of it makes any fucking sense if he cared about Felicia. He hates Vander so much, he hates the kids too because he adopted them?
How the hell does S2 Young Silco turn into S1 Silco? Riot really messed this one up. Vander's attempted murder didn't change his entire personality.
It was a rebellion battle. People were going to get hurt and killed. They had to know this. So, whether Silco accidentally killed Felicia (as some fans are debating) or she died, is so damn dumb for Vander to solely blame Silco. Takes the kids, becomes a pacifist FIRST and then decides to (shave and grow younger) kill his brother for the greater good. Doesn't make one lick of sense narratively.
The narrative, characterization and animation inconsistencies don't help from S1 either. The drowning scene doesn't fit the S2 explanation. They're too young. Vander had a beard and appears much older on the bridge. Hell, S2 Young!Silco looks older than S1 Young!Silco. Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy. If people want to kiss Riot's ass, fine, but there was too much that was straight up lazy writing.
Silco's death is just glossed over considering how important he is. Silco did what Vander couldn't. Even without Shimmer, the Underground was thriving. Cait's mother's death/burial/statue gets more screen time and Silco gets dumped in the river. No one seems to question his death or what happened? Yeah, ok.
I'll use this moment to complain about the excessive music video montages this season too. I watched S1 again and the writing and use of music worked in unison and enhanced scenes. S2 felt like scenes in between music videos and it was irritating.
There was so much screentime wasted that could have been good dialogue heavy scenes that S1 was great at. Instead, time wasted on poorly executed plotlines that needed way more time to flesh out (Mel, Ekko and Viktor) and we have slowmo music videos and MCU fight scenes. Hermie's guitar song and Mission Impossible jokster crap was laughable and not in a good way.
Riot tried to pack too much into one season, and it was a mess. This season felt like watching a Marvel movie. Cool action sequences with little to no substance. All the nuance and grit from last season were gone in favor of the 'good vs. bad' trope. All the political-societal issues in S1 were abandoned that were far more fascinating to explore.
Mel has superpowers now? It feels all out of place. Her, Ambessa, and the Black Rose plot have zero time to make it interesting and plausible. She was introduced as this master manipulator/politician and her sage persona feels so forced.
Jesus Demigod Viktor was too much. I was excited for the Machine Herald and the psychedelic Arcane magical multiverse took me out. Making him to be the big baddie and timeloop it around to Jayce felt like a big cop out. Viktor deserved better. Hell, Jayce deserved better.
So much was sacrificed to make the whole Arcane magic THE point of the series when it was one of the least interesting aspects of the show. Hextech for weapons and the continuing problems between Piltover and Zaun was RIPE for storytelling. It seems each act needed several episodes to cover.
Ekko sure as fuck deserved better than that half assed time warp with Hermie. The AU really bothered me. Everything felt wrong. EVERYTHING. Nothing was explained well at all. It felt like complete fan service at the expense of the characters. Before people rip me saying "well duh! It was an AU!". You don't assassinate characters and plot to have a happy ending that insults your viewers.
They turned Zaun (its own cool character) into the bargain basement of Piltover. How is it sunny and pretty? Really? Mirror tricks? Everyone just forgave Piltover after years of oppression?
You're telling me Vi's death saved humanity? Fuck that shit right now. Piltover just stopped because a kid died? Suddenly everything became better? What happened to Jayce? Viktor? Hell, Hermie after decades didn't give two shits about Zaun, so what changed with the Council? Where's Singed? I don't buy it.
I don't buy Jinx/Powder being super normal smart girl. I LOVE JInx, but I believe she had mental issues prior breaking into Jayce's apartment. I don't think Vi's death made that go away (as I don't believe Silco's death did either). As someone who battles with mental health, this is insulting to me as a viewer.
I hated AU Silco. There. I said it. He just forgave Vander? Really? Bullshit. The reason Vander tried to kill him is stupid. A simple letter changed Silco? That fluffy-haired softy is not Silco. I can't imagine that Silco being the one who fought a rebellion. He probably would not have become a mob boss peddling drugs but this AU softboi dad feels so wrong. I never would have stanned AU Silco. Not in a million years.
S1 Silco's traits didn't magically appear because Vander betrayed him. The young S1 Silco had to be similar in many ways to older S1 Silco. Drive, ambition, ruthlessness, willing to die for a cause. I don't see Felicia's death changing that. I certainly don't see Vi's death changing that.
If Vander needed to kill Silco to stop the violence, etc, it's because he saw Silco as a threat to him or society as a whole. S1 Vander is known as The Hound. So, he seems to be violent as well. He takes credit for building the Underground when Felicia credits both 'bozos' for it. So Vander being upset she died and blaming Silco to the point of murder is a slap in the face to fans' intelligence.
I do hate that by Vi's death, everything is magically better. I can't express how much I hate that. AU Powder was irritating and was nothing like my Jinx that I love. Again so much wasted time that could have been better spent on good character driven scenes that actually advance the plot.
Pointless characters. Introduce Isha (who I adored). Make her seem important to Jinx. Kill her and never mention her again. So what was the point of her inclusion this season? Just to make Jinx suicidal? I hated that also. Again WASTED SCREENTIME.
Oh, and Caitvi was a disgrace. I think shippers deserved better here, too. Caitlyn goes crazy dictator because of guilt over her mom. Granted, Caitvi only knew each other for a week-ish? Not a lot of time to make their relationship serious past an infatuation. Cait turns from all her good points last season to Ambessa's padawan.
Don't get me started on that side piece Maddie. Really? Cait you were that hard up? And that long awaited sex scene was a big eye roll. Vi goes to her sister, and shit goes to hell, and a few minutes later, she's fucking Cait in the same cell. Vi was reduced to shit this season.
I mean, these characters just got shafted in every way for a high speed train wreck ending that we've seen a million times in Disneyfied stories. Action sequences were more important than actual character development and plot.
You can't make me believe that one speech from Jayce 'seeing a possible future' suddenly got Zaun to work with and dress up as Piltover soldiers? Really?
I had high hopes for Sevika, and the girl got shit nothing to do except in two episodes. Her seat on the Council feels like a last-minute decision and not worthy enough to expand on.
What made S1 so great was the class divide between Zaun and Piltover and how it affected the characters. S2 decided to scrap that and go with the easy good vs evil trope instead. Even the parallels didn't have the same hit as last season.
I did like Jinx talking to her 'ghost' Silco in the jail cell. He was calming to her in contrast to Milo/Claggor except the implication that she should die (that's what I got out of that).
We didn't even get much from Singed. Yeah, he got his daughter back (in some form) but his story was so blah. We didn't get nearly enough of him and Warwick and what made Warwick.
I guessed a few years ago it was going to be Vander but I didn't like how it was handled.
Too many plotlines all rushed together without getting any decent screentime and explanations that don't confuse or insult viewers intelligence. OR you have to be a LOL fan/player to understand. I never played LOL before S1 and wasn't confused as to the main plot.
I loved all the characters in S1 and felt they were pretty much watered down or assassinated in S2 for an apocalyptical Demigod villain vs humanity battle done to death finale.
The Zaun/Piltover political-societal problems, parallels, corruption, science going wrong, pathway to hell paved with good intentions themes from S1 was so much better in every single aspect.
I'm still a fan of S1 and the characters and frankly, I'm going to ignore 95% of S2.

Been rewatching some Jesse scenes since Iâm gearing up to write again (sequel to Sweet Tooth â wooo), and I particularly wanted to look at his relationship with his parents since Iâve given Jesse a son. And like, after watching those scenes againâI really donât think Jesseâs parents were abusive. Since I was writing notes up, I thought I might share them (under the cut because it's 2000 words đ)
Here's what happens in 1x04: Jesse smokes so much meth he starts having paranoid delusions that people are coming to kill him. He shows up at his parentsâ houseâIâm guessing he went there because being with his parents made him feel safe. He doesnât knock on the door, thoughâhe crashes into their backyard while his parents and brother are eating dinner. Heâs still very obviously high.
His parents let him in to sleep it off. Itâs likely been years since heâs lived there, but theyâve kept his bedroom for him. There are pictures that he drew as a child framed on the wall, as well as pictures of himself as a child.
Meanwhile, his parents wonder what kind of drugs heâs on. His mom wants to check him for needle marks. His dad wonders if they should let him stay, and his mom mentions a church that has meetings for people struggling with addiction, and that if he agrees to go then maybe he can stay (although Jesse has a house to live in. Thereâs no reason for him to stay, but his parents probably see his sudden appearance as maybe a cry for help). Jesseâs mom mentions sheâs not sure what to tell Jake about the sudden reappearance of his older brother, which suggests Jesse drifts in and out of their lives, which is probably hurtful and confusing for a child.
Jesse appears and asks when dinner will be served. His mom asks him if he slept well and offers to do his laundry, which he declines. His dad waits for Jesse to leave before saying to his wife âwe are not doing this again,â suggesting that there have been multiple times in the past that Jesse has shown up like this and itâs never turned out well. His mom protests, but Dad is firmâtheyâve got to lay down the law and be consistent.
Except they donât. They find Jesse setting the table, and they clearly donât have the heart to make any demands. Why? WellâI think the obvious answer is that seeing their son home, setting the table like he did as a little boy, tugs at their heartstrings. Which is the reason Jesse is doing it.
So likeâso far, his parents have been very kind and understanding to him. They didnât berate him about showing up to their house high, they gave him a place to sleep it off, his mother politely asked him if he slept well, offered to do his laundry, and welcomed him for dinner.
Cut to Jesse hanging out with his brother in his room. He admires Jakeâs many awards and suggests they hang out more often. Jake doesnât seem very interested in this and actually seems pretty uncomfortable with Jesse being there. Mom checks in on them, asking how theyâre doing in an overly bright tone, and leaves the door open. I think if Jesseâs mom was abusive, she would have said something nasty to him and ordered the door be left open, but she didnât. Why? Probably because she didnât want to hurt his feelings, while still signaling to Jake that sheâs available if he needs her. Â
Jesse is VERY offended by this and sneers that she probably thinks he's a criminal (he is, though) and that she doesnât want him to corrupt their favorite son. Jake scoffs at this and says that Jesse is clearly the favorite, since heâs all they ever talk about. If Jake is under the impression that Jesse is their favorite son, I think itâs pretty safe to assume that they arenât talking about how much they hate him all the time. They talk about him all the time because theyâre worried. Jesse looks surprised, and then a little ashamed.
That night, he canât sleep, so he opens the trunk in his bedroom. Itâs full of his old toys and drawings. He gets a phone call from Combo and they make a deal for Jesse to sell him more drugs. Because he is, in fact, a criminal. And likeâI think itâs deeply shitty of Jesse to be angry at his mom for not even directly saying to his face that sheâs worried he might be committing crimes but just maybe sort of implying it, when that is indeed what heâs doing, under her own roof, after she welcomed him in. Jesse is the asshole in this situation, not his mom.
Later on, Jesseâs parentsâ maid finds a joint. His parents are upset and assume itâs his. His mom asks, rhetorically, how many chances have they given him, and how many times have they had this conversation, and how many times has Jesse lied to their faces and played on their emotions by telling them what they want to hear so theyâll give him another chance, which they always do, and how it makes them feel like fools. If Jesseâs parents were abusive, I donât think they would have given him so many chances. And his parents have a right to be angry about all the lies heâs told them. They are wrong in this particular case, but itâs not unreasonable for them to make that assumption, since theyâve had the exact same thing happen many times before, which Jesse doesnât deny. And even though the joint wasnât his, he did spend the previous evening making a drug deal out of his childhood bedroom.
And likeâweâve witnessed the manipulation his mom is talking about in this very episode, with Jesse setting the table to prevent them from asking him about what drugs he was on when he showed up in their backyard, which worksâthey donât confront him. They donât want to chase him away.
So they kick him out. But itâs not like heâs going to the streets. He has a house! A very nice house, in a great neighborhood, all to himself!
And about that house. I also rewatched the scene where he loses the home in 2x04, and this is what happens: his parents ask Jesse to speak with them and their lawyer. Jesse pouts and scowls and rolls his eyes. He assumes this is âanotherâ intervention, i.e. a boring waste of his time, in his opinion. He only becomes interested in whatâs happening when the lawyer says he has 72 hours to leave. He canât believe heâs being kicked out of his own house! Except his dad has to explain to him that he doesnât own it.
How was Jesse not aware that he didnât own the house??? He just seems to think that living in it means he owns it. That suggests to me that he isnât paying rent. Jesse isnât a little kid. Heâs got to be aware that owning a house is a legal matter, and that heâd need to have his name put on the deed. But he doesnât know that, because itâs pretty clear to me that heâs never actually had any adult responsibilities.
So back to the meeting. Jesse is furious at being kicked out of âhisâ house. Apparently at one point, the plan had been to sell it and split the profits 50/50. He angrily asks why thatâs off the table now. Jesseâs dad says itâs because Jesse a âspeed manufacturer.â Jesse IMMEDIATELY liesâlike he doesnât even take a beat to process it, he just reflexively denies it, sounding outraged that his father would DARE to accuse him of such a thing. But likeâhe is a speed manufacturer!!!
His mom says that a DEA agent came to their house looking for him. Jesse immediately lies again and says that heâs been HELPING the DEA, and that he could get into a lot of trouble for telling them so, and sarcastically says âyouâre welcome,â I guess expecting them to be impressed that heâs helping the DEA? (These are all liesâhe is lying his ass off.) His mom says she saw the meth lab in the basement. Jesse still doesnât admit it. Instead, he expresses annoyance that his mom has a key. To the house she owns. The lawyer confronts him with photos of the lab. Jesse dismisses it as not a big deal because it isnât even there anymore, he cleaned it out. He doesnât acknowledge at all that he just lied to his parentsâ face several times in the space of about five minutes.
His dad says they canât stop him from ruining his life, but they wonât let him take them down with them. It's harsh, but true. Jesse set up a meth lab in the basement of a home his parents legally owned, which could have gotten them into trouble. And when the DEA came looking for him, they didnât turn him over, even though they could have. I mean, maybe you can argue that they just didnât want to lose the house, but I think they also donât want their son to go to jail.
His mom shows up later at his house while heâs taking a nap. He tries to hide all his drug paraphernalia while telling his mom that the whole thing has been such a huge wake up call for him, and how heâs thinking about going to business school, and how great it is that theyâre starting a dialogue! Very sweet now, very apologetic. (HEâS LYING. HEâS NOT GOING TO BUSINESS SCHOOL, HEâS SELLING DRUGS.)
Then he notices that furniture is being moved out. He drops the sweetness and gets angry. His mom tells him sheâs putting the furniture in storage and will give it back to him when he âgrows up.â Then he gets really angry and says that he âearnedâ the house by taking his aunt to her appointments and making her lunch every day. And then his mom says that he didnât make her lunch every day.
And you knowâI kind of believe her? LikeâJesse obviously was involved with his auntâs care, but is it hard to believe that maybe he was a little flaky about it? And itâs true Ginny wanted him to live in her house. But she didnât leave the house to Jesse in her will. She left it to her sister. Why? I think probably because she knew that Jesse wasnât mature enough to own a home. Which was true!
Then Jesse gets right up in her face and starts screaming that she abandoned her dying sister (did she?) and now sheâs making her eldest son homeless (as if Jesseâs choices didnât have anything to do with that) then he sarcastically says what a great family they have. And then she slaps him and yells back that she doesnât know why heâs like this. What a monster.
Anyway. I think we see Jesse suffer so much abuse at Waltâs hands that we kind of forget that he had a whole life before Walt showed up in it, and he was royally fucking it up in spite of having a lot of privilege. He's an upper middle class white boy who, at age 24, has no job (other than selling drugs), and yet he had a house to live in rent-free (kind of doubt he paid utilities either), clothes to wear, and food to eat, and it basically seems like he did whatever he felt like (which was mostly partying) while suffering very few consequences other than not being allowed to live with his parents, which Iâm assuming as an adult man, heâd rather not be doing anyway. And the only reason he lost that house was because he built a meth lab in the basement. Jesse wasnât abused. He was coddled.

You pour some on the mug waiting on the corner. Rushing over to the fridge, you take the carton of milk and pour a little bit of it on your cup. You didnât put in that much milk. You wanted to be active as you read, the milk would make you sleepy.Â
Script in hand and coffee secured, you make your way into the living room and carefully rested the mug on the coffee table. You plopped your body onto the couch once again and started to read once more. You were captivated by the story when it first came out in serialization.
But you never expected that it would grow big like this one day and even more so, play one of your favorite characters in the show. You were glad for the opportunity, when it first came around. The yes was immediate and one season and a movie â you were now here, for another season once again.
âOh, so that scene with Suguru is happening, hm?â You gasp, your eyes scanning through the words. âYo! Suguru, theyâre not going to disappear, donât hog them, oh my god.â
Your character was the only senior left in Tokyo Jujutsu High by that point and so, they guide them into the ropes of being sorcerers. In modern times, theyâre very close, Satoru and your character. You were both left behind by Suguru's character.
But before that, there was Suguru and Suguru was in love with their senpai, but staved off for Satoru. But this scene, in Okinawa, was the moment Suguru couldnât help it anymore and thought about making a move. You flipped another page.
âOh baby, youâre gonna be so sad when he leaves.â You muttered under your breath, continuing to read. âDonât start something you canât continue!â
âDonât start something I canât continue?â You heard the voice echo through the apartment. Your head snaps to the direction of the door and you smile, seeing his purple eyes gleam against yours. âWhat do you have on hand, darling?â
âScriptâs arrived!â You say, waving your own in the air. You pointed to the side. âYour manager left yours here too.â

He nodded back at you. The silence stretched between you, pregnant with unspoken apologies and lingering questions. Finally, Suguru cleared his throat, gaze searching yours with a mix of regret and longing. "I... I didn't expect us to meet like this, truly." he admitted, voice tinged with sincerity.
"Neither did I." you confessed, fingers tracing patterns on the tabletop. "But here we are."
Suguru nodded, a flicker of uncertainty crossing his features. "About that Youtube show... I didn't think you'd agree to it."

You didnât know what else to say to him.
But you think that you both long for the same things in life.

"You knowâŚ.I really donât know whatâs going to come out of this conversation between us." Suguru said, his voice trembling slightly. But he smiles, as though trying to comfort you too. âThis is a new sort of conversation to have in front of the camera.â
You glanced at him, your own hands shaking. You laugh shakily. "Donât worry. I feel that too. I donât think that this is gonna be any easy for us. I'm afraid it's going to be like..." You railed off, unable to finish the thought. âYou know what, let that thought disappear.â
"Do you want to go... Yeah," he chuckled nervously. âLet it disappear with a drink.â
âPour it down, Sugu!â
You watched Suguru take a deep breath, his hands steady as he poured the clear liquid into the small shot glasses lined up between you. The familiar scent of vodka filled the air, a sharp contrast to the subdued atmosphere that had settled over the table.
"You really went with vodka first?" you quipped lightly, a hint of amusement coloring your tone despite the nerves that fluttered in your stomach.
Suguru chuckled softly, the sound familiar and comforting. "It's the closest to grab!" he replied with a half-smile, his eyes meeting yours briefly before returning his attention to the task at hand.
A moment later, you both raised the glasses to your lips, the cool liquid burning slightly as it slid down your throat. The familiar warmth spread through you, a mixture of nerves and determination mingling in the shared ritual. As you set the empty glasses back on the table, a sense of tenderness settled between you. Liquid courage settled tremendously well.
"Here goes nothing, Sugu." you murmured, meeting Suguru's gaze with a mixture of apprehension and resolve.
"Nothing we can't handle, doll." he replied softly, his voice carrying a reassurance that eased the lingering doubts.Â
You shake your head at him, as he smiles as you introduce yourself. "And I play his situationship in Jujutsu Kaisen." you said, breaking the ice. He laughs.
"And I'm Geto Suguru." he replied, smiling faintly. âI also play their situationship in Jujutsu Kaisen.â
"We used to date each other.â you continued, looking at him.
"Is dating the right word?" he asked, a hint of uncertainty in his voice.
"Yeah, I think it could be the right one." you nodded. "I mean, people who date also live together!"Â
"For many happy years, I may add." he added, and you both laughed at the shared memory. âThose were the days.â
"I guess that's how we know each other. Then, we broke up a few months ago." You said, the laughter fading into a more somber mood.Â
âThat really killed the mood so fast in the studio!â Suguru laughs. âWe are so sorry about that.â
âI feel like I need a penalty shot for that.â You laughed with him.
âShould I pour some whiskey for that?â
âYeah, why not?â You say as you watched him pour the whiskey
"Okay," Suguru said, raising his glass. "Cheers."
âCheers.â You clink your glass with his and you start drinking.Â
It was your turn to pick up a flashcard, your fingers trembling slightly as you lifted it from the pile. Across the table, Suguru had already started sipping his chaser, a nervous habit that betrayed the gravity of the game you were about to play.
"Am I a better lover than who you're currently with?" you asked, your voice steady despite the sudden seriousness that settled over the conversation.
Suguru paused mid-sip, his expression shifting from casual to contemplative. "I'm not currently going out with anyone, that's for sure." he admitted quietly, setting down his glass. His gaze met yours, earnest and vulnerable. "And because of that, yes. You are a better lover. Probably always will be my best lover."

âYeah.â You responded to him a moment later. âIâm also not seeing anyone, soâŚ. I doubt that I could think anything of it.â
âIf you were dating someone, would you feel like that too?â The staff once more interjected with a question.
You hummed. âI thinkâŚ..probably. Suguru and I dated for a long time. And I was loved in ways that people can never even fathom. Only he has been able to do that.â
Suguru looked at you for a moment, as though he saw the universe in your eyes. He felt the heat pierce his cheek. âI think I need to get a drink on that.â
âGo for it.â You say, blushing just as equally bad. âIâll drink with you.â
You both drink together, your eyes lowering at the intensity of his gaze. âYou stare at me too much.â
"Canât help it,â Suguru whispered, his voice a soft admission of vulnerability and lingering affection.
His eyes met yours briefly, a flicker of warmth passing between you before he glanced down at the flashcards scattered between you on the table. Each card held a potential truth, a shard of their past waiting to be explored.

âI do.â You responded to him, confidently. âI feel like I was an adult and I should have been able to be an adult in that situation with you. But instead, I acted like a child when I should have settled down too.â
âNo, but I feel like I hold the most at fault for that.â Suguru says as he leaned forward, straightening his posture. âThere was really no reason for me, even if I was stressed and exhausted, for me to have reacted to you that way.â
âYou were exhausted that time too.â You smiled at him softly. âI donât think I could hold it against you.â
âJust like I donât hold it against you that you were exhausted waiting for me and trying for me to figure things out.â Suguru replied back. âYou donât deserve that and Iâm glad you stood your ground and put yourself first when you needed to.â
âI was waiting for something like that from you.â You retorted back to him, your smile turning emotional. âIâm glad that you gave it to me.â
âIâm sorry it took me so long to say it.â His face softens, the hurt in his eyes palpable.Â
You shook your head. âItâs alright, weâre alright.â
âItâs your turn.â
"Did you ever cheat on me, and if you did, what was the reason?â You read the card, looking at him. âDid you ever do it?â
"I've had some pretty solid opportunities, doll." he admitted to you. âBut I never thought about it.â
"Is that a no?" You pressed.
"Itâs a no.â He tells you, and you could see it in his eyes, he was honest. âI had you, doll. I donât think I needed to have anyone else.â
You laughed. âYeah, I guess youâre telling the truth.â
âHow about you? Did you ever cheat on me?" Suguru asked, turning the question back on you.
"No. The fuck?" You replied, offended. He laughs. âI would never.â
âI really donât think we had the energy to do something like that.â
You nodded, looking at the camera. âOur managers are behind the camera. When we tell you that our schedules were so packedâŚ.there wasnât even room to pee!â
âI say that every time we have to do a reshoot because Satoru made a funny face.â Suguru added. âGojoâkesa isnât easy to remove everyone. Especially when you need to pee!â
âI think we got too far ahead of ourselves here.â You retorted as you drank your chaser. âThat got me thirsty.â
âTo everyone, we did not in fact cheat on each other.â Suguru makes an âxâ sign with his arms. âWe broke up normally, like some couples do.â
"Let's keep going," You said with a laugh, trying to steer the conversation back to safer ground.Â
"How long did it take you to get over us, and what did you do to help yourself get over it?" Suguru asked.
"I think I'm gonna take a drink." I said, dodging the question with a laugh.Â
âItâs only been a few months, so I donât think thatâs an easy thing to answer.â He laughs with you.
âYeah, youâre right about that one.âÂ
He winks at you. âI always am, doll.â
âMy turn.â You say, picking up a card. "Do you think I'll be a great spouse?"
"Definitely." he said without hesitation, looking at you tenderly. "I wanted you to be mine, you know?"
"I know." You whispered, tears threatening to fall.
âHey donât cry now.â
âItâs the alcohol, donât worry.â
"What was your least favorite thing I did to you in bed?" he asked.
"Well, my least favorite thing that you did to me in bed," You began, trying to keep my voice steady, "I think it's to not make love with me. You once slept on me before we could start something.â
"I can see that being your least favorite thing." Suguru snickered.Â
You pointed to the camera. âLesson 101 folks, tell your partner beforehand!â
"When did you know it was over?" He asked, taking his turn.Â
"When your work and your friends become bigger than me." You said honestly. âI really didnât know where we were and you kept telling me that it was fine and your friends told me it was fine. I think I was not understanding my place with you at the time.â
"Hmm. I didn't feel like all that became a priority. I think I was having a hard time trying to understand how to slow down from the work that was my life." He explained to you, as you nodded. "You know? And that was my fault. I feel like that community I had understood that and didnât question it.â
âBut that needed to be questioned.â
âYeah, because it affected what we had. And that wasnât fair to you.â
You nodded in surrender. âYeah, that was it.â
"I'm sorry for all of it, doll." He whispered back to you. âThat it hurt you.â
âItâs all in the past.â You whispered to him.Â
"If you could erase every thought of me, would you?" you asked, your voice breaking.
"Fuck, no! There would be nothing to feel pleasure about at night.â He joked, trying to lighten the mood. You smacked his hand, laughing so hard. âIâm sorry, that was a crude joke.â
"No, that's okay.â You whispered back at him, laughter subsiding. âThat makes me feel really good about myself, actually.â
"It should make you feel beautiful, doll. All the expensive towels at home die because of you.â he teased.
"Alright, I'm gonna forget the towel thing now." you said, rolling your eyes as you tried not to laugh. "Why do I keep getting these cards? I dare you to take a body shot off me, or you have to take two shots."
"Was it two shots?" he asked.
"Yeah, it was two shots for you, Sugu." you confirmed.
âOkay, Iâll take the shots.â Suguru says as he gritted his teeth, pouring whiskey on two shot glasses. âThis is not a good think for me later.â
âHe still has to record a song later.â You say, laughing as he puts the bottle back and starts taking a shot. âI feel like youâd do fine though. You arenât that much of a light weight.â
âI think so, but it would be emotional in the booth.â
âOh then, cry it out!â
"This is a good question!" Suguru said, holding up a card for his turn. "If you could do it over again, what would you change?"
"I don't think I'd change anything, for our previous relationship.â You tell him honestly. âI think it ended when it needed to.â
âYeah.â
âBut Iâm not putting the door to a close yet, I donât know what would happen.â You whispered back at him with a soft smile. âBut given the chance, similar to the question, how would you make it better?â
"I would put in more time, doll." he admitted to you. âI think Iâd put you as my priority and what future we have together first.â
"That would be cool.â You said softly.
"I fucked up." he sighed, looking at you softly.
"Would you do it again?" You asked, your heart in your throat. âWould you take another shot at it, Sugu?â
"You know the answer, doll." he said, avoiding my gaze. He picks up another card. "Do you still love me?"
"Yeah. Yeah. Of course." You said, your voice trembling as you smiled. Your eyes water with emotion. "I think I always will.â
âI guess Iâm the love of your life, huh?â
âYou know that already.â You sniff, laughing.
âThat I do.â
âAre you happy with our current relationship?" You asked him, turning to him as he slowly smiles.
"Doll, are you happy with everything right now?" he countered.
âWith all thatâs going on in my life?â He nodded at you. âYeah, Iâm happy. Some days are bad, but you knowâŚ.Iâm happy. You taught me how.â
"Good.â
âHuh?â
 âThen the answer is yes." Suguru smiles at you, with that same smile that made you fall in love with him in the first place. âIâm happy.â
"Really?â You were taken aback, smiling as your face wells in your tears. âI donât know what to say, Sugu.â
"You donât have to say anything.â He whispers, leaning forward as he wipes your tears away. âAs long as youâre happy. Itâs more than enough for me to be happy too.â
"I wished that would have been enough, when we were together.â You whispered back to him. âI would have loved to hear that from you.â
"I know.â He smiles at you, pained. âI wish I could tell you more.â
"'I wanted to be with you for a long time." You admit to him, tears flowing more. He wipes them all away. âI really thought I would end up having forever with you.â
"Do you think your past break up has had closure, you two?" the staffâs voice asked, cutting through the emotional moment.
âI donât think thereâs ever going to be closure between the two of us.â You admit to them, almost as though it was a fact. âHeâs my person, you know? I think the fact that weâre not together, it justâŚit's hard to know how there could be anything, but pining.â
âHow about you, Suguru?â
"I think about them often and it hurts knowing that we're not going to have any closure.â He whispers as he too starts feeling his eyes sting with tears. He takes your hand into his and you squeeze back.
âYou know, when the future changes everything so fast. And I just donât know what to do, because theyâll always be my muse. And Iâll think about all these years, wondering whatever happened to the love of my life.â
He wipes his tears. âFuck, I canât see anything with these tears.â
"Hey, you wanna wipe our tears away with alcohol?" you suggested, attempting a smile through the lingering pain that tugged at your heart.
Suguru looked at you, his eyes softening as he nodded. "Yeah, let's go."Â
He pours the drinks and raises his shot glass, his faint smile touching his lips. "I donât know what will happen in the future, but I am genuinely so lucky to have you in my life and I am so very lucky to have you as my muse. I hope you have nothing but happiness, love and joy, doll, my love.âÂ
"Cheers, Sugu." You said softly, lifting my glass and clinking it against his.
"Cheers, doll." Suguru echoed as he downs his.
