hm, what do you mean by that? genuinely would love a follow up if you've got more to say. i'm open to hearing your perspective, but let me share mine.

i don't think it's particularly bioessentialist when people use TME (transmisogyny exempt) and TMA (transmisogynyny affected) as terms; the terms are relevant for discussing a person's lived experiences. if you experience transmisogyny or not can be pretty influential on how you see things..? i try to be as informed and willing to listen to others as possible, but i also understand there's just a limit to how much i can understand something i haven't personally been through. at the end of the day me and people who ARE affected by transmisogyny do not experience it the same way, for societal reasons rather than biological.

the transmisogyny people experience is motivated by bioessentialism, but it's not bioessentialist to talk about this discrimination and how it does not effect all of us equally. it is, frankly, just honest. i and other people who use those terms aren't trying to create division between categories or anything like that; it's just a descriptor of an experience.

i used it in my tags on that post for a specific reason. society at large is often quite transmisogynistic and that leeches into all of us because we grow up with these attitudes, consciously or not. people who are excluded from transmisogyny (regardless of other factors) hold a degree of privilege over those who are affected: i can't be hurt by transmisogyny in the same way as someone transfeminine can. i am not its target nor its victim; any harm it does to me is just a result of the bioessentialist, transphobic rhetoric at transmisogyny's core.

addressing TME trans people specifically is important to me because i think our larger community needs to do better by transmisogyny affected people.

so in my own experience i feel like mentions of transmisogyny sort of fly over TME people's heads, with this idea of like.. "how could i hurt another trans person in that way? if someone did X or Y to me, i wouldn't care!" which.. of course, it's not meant to hurt you. but we still need to recognize that behavior + attitude, and make sure to not perpetuate it ourselves. the label of TME and TMA is just that: recognition.

also; the woman who wrote that post is a trans woman who was talking to other transfems. i agreed with her point and wanted to mention the way i had observed it in people i shared experiences with!! i specificed "TME trans people" because that was who i was talking about, and the attitude i was criticizing was like.. pretty relevant to both their transness and their lack of experiencing transmisogyny specifically.

my lovely mutuals and followers and circle of dykes. i am BEGGING YOU to stop reblogging that "NSAIDS while on spiro damages your liver" post. there have been MANY additions in the comments expanding on the risk factors of mixing these medications (and i HIGHLY recommend looking in the comments. @/boringkate assesses the risk beautifully in there, and many others are in the reblogs expanding on the interactions and risks as well). all those aside - the major risk of mixing NSAIDs and any diuretic (not limited to, but including ibuprofen snd spiro) is RENAL (KIDNEY) PROBLEMS!!! NOT LIVER!!! and the most frequent version ive seen to that post does Not do a good enough job clarifying that "renal function" is related to your kidneys, not your liver. there are some effects that will happen on the liver eventually of course, but the premise of the interactions is wrong in and of itself and this kind of misinformation is kind of dangerous to just take at face value/without curiousity

i encourage you to read the actual drugs.com summary on the interactions between NSAIDs and spiro that keeps being referenced in that post (more on this under the cut). it is a moderate interaction manageable with increased hydration (your kidneys love water!) and, if you're taking spiro under the supervision of a doctor, monitoring of your renal function via blood tests. and i understand feeling betrayed learning there are potential interactions between all NSAIDs and diuretics because these risks are often not clearly communicated by doctors themselves, but in the pharmacy and usually in that packet that comes with your meds that most people are more likely to toss than read - but please do not make sudden rapid changes to your healthcare plans or work yourself into a panic on ever taking a pain med ever again based on that post and PLEASE fact check things you read on the internet before spreading it as Health Facts, even if its just looking up what different words mean to understand more of what you're reading. i also really do encourage y'all to read on how kidneys work and this is a really nice overview

the risk of kidney problems mostly occurs if you are (1) taking regular doses of both medications (2) NOT drinking enough fluids (3) not communicating with your doctor about all the medications you are taking. if you are taking spiro as a treatment provided by a doctor and are worried about kidney problems after that post, by all means talk to them and ask about getting a blood test to check your kidneys function/health!! im not discouraging this!! your doctor likely isnt bringing this up in the first place though because (in my cursory glance over the sources) many of these studies cited even in the drugs.com article "specific" to ibuprofen and spiro are about a variety of diuretics interactions with a variety of NSAIDs. the ones that arent paywalled are also either acute case studies about elderly patients on diuretics (so who Already have kidney problems/elimination issues) who developed heart issues after diuretics treatement or observational studies specifically on men in good health ages 20-38 to specifically look at drug interactions in the body. in the more acute cases, with proper management/alternative medications almost every single case was reversible and resolvable. many of these medications in these papers also are ones I have not heard of or taken, so i did look up every single drug i didnt recognize by name references to confirm my initial assumption that the reason this is labeled a Moderate instead of low risk interaction is because All NSAIDS and diuretics have potential interactions (confirmed also that the major effect is that NSAIDS have the potential to reduce the efficacy of diuretics, which leads to fluid and salt retention, which can lead to other issues - namely heart issues in the most extreme cases) with variable effects based on specific combination of the drugs used, the patients specific health, and the dosage (not just the size of dose, but the timing as well).

as an aside: if you habitually are taking frequent (read: daily/scheduled, not a one off for a headache or other body pains) doses of OTC NSAIDs, Regardless of taking diuretics, you NEED to tell your doctor because even though its available over the counter (at least in the US) it is still a major medication in your life/relevant to your physiochemistry!! OTC medications are often overlooked by doctors and people alike because they are seen as ubiquitous and to many doctors OTC pain meds, like NSAIDS, are assumed be used in acute pain situations where the dosage is minimal/infrequent enough it will likely have little to no long term effect with other medications.

Nadia's mind was a storm, racing and whirling with a constant analysis as she weighed every cause and effect that might be in play. There was no clear answer, but she had to try. It wasn't in her nature to do otherwise. As far as she could tell, the other witch didn't seem hostile. If anything, she seemed as confused as Nadia. But what was clear was the fact that they were drawn here by something powerful and, dare she say, sinister. The sort of magic that should never be let loose but that she suspects raced into their world through the tear in the veil.

She gave the witch a cursory glance, not answering the question outright. Her silence, however, was as telling as an answer. No. No one had figured out what had happened. Or, rather, no one had figured out the full cause. If Nadia had to guess, foul play was afoot, though it did no good stirring suspicion or causing panic with unfounded speculation. "We're working on it," she settled on as a reply, gaze flickering to the jogger stuck in a perpetual loop.

Nadia nodded at her name and reached her magic out towards the jogger. But as she pressed forward, attempting to reach him, she frowned, brows pulled in concentration. It felt like wading through a pool of honey – thick and viscous. "We have no choice but to try," Nadia asserted, still trying to push through the haze around the man before exhaling and dropping her magic from him. "Unless you can get through whatever that is, we should focus on this." She pivoted and gestured at the haze covering the pond. Nadia was willing to bet that once they figured it out, they'd be able to help the man.

The haze swirled over the still water and Nadia blinked with the sudden realization that the moon was now in the sky and that the park was dark around them. Dusk had come and gone. She realized what was happening with a thundering heart and felt another slip taking hold. Rather than reaching for her Talisman this time, Nadia took a step to the side and bit the inside of her cheek hard enough to taste blood. A different step from what she'd done before to break the pattern, a random action to disrupt the cycle before it could repeat.

Her wide-eyed gaze mirrored Kenzie's as her mind raced. "We have to break the patterns before we loop." She hopped from one foot to the other, gesturing at Kenzie to do the same and then glancing around them. "And we need to find the epicenter." Where this was all coming from.

It's always hard to tell what to expect when paths cross with other witches. Friend or foe. Sensing magic is one thing, but intentions are harder to read. Kenzie's eyes flicker over the other witch, then shift to the jogger, their motion looping in that unnatural way. Her hand rises instinctively, fingers twitching with the urge to connect to the strange haze of magic that clings to the park like a fog. But as soon as she tries, it curls back, retreating along her veins. "Damn." she mutters under her breath, her gaze falling briefly to her hand.

The mention of Grand Central draws her focus back to the other witch. Whispers have circled since the explosion. Everyone felt it, the ripple that was as if it tore through the city's fabric. "Has anyone figured out what happened there?" Kenzie asks quietly, though she doesn't ever expect information to be given so freely. After all, people build fortunes from selling what they know. Her attention keeps drifting to the jogger.

The name Nadia seems to settle something in Kenzie's chest, easing her for a moment. "Kenzie." she offers back, a small smile flickering across her lips before vanishing. "We could calm him down?" she suggests, nodding toward the jogger. "You think we're strong enough to handle that with… whatever this is?" her voice trails off as her eyes shift to the haze. The entire park feels muted, wrapped in something that isn't quite real.

Her gaze catches on the pond, the shimmer above its surface glinting faintly, but it's not the light that holds her attention. There's a familiar figure approaching the other side, making Kenzie's head tilt. "Wait, a second. Is that god damn..." the words stick as she takes a step forward but something stops her. It's a flicker that pulls her back to where she was standing just seconds before. Beside Nadia. "What the fuck?" she whispers, glancing at Nadia with wide eyes. "Did you just see that?"

ssso my good friend pastell @startagainaprologue mentioned it was struggling with making a human design for the guide and i rubbed my hands together evilly and got to work. aaaaa this was super fun to work on!!!!! thankyou again for letting me draw this graaaa. as always my deranged character design ramblings are below the cut 👍

CHARACTER DESIGN BLAST

most of guide’s colors are slightly shifted to be closer to red and more… desaturated? my default bonnie colors clashed with the palette i usually use for guide so they got changed slightly. i did add the blue on the sash as a reference to my nille design however! and i tend to use cooler colors to represent countries outside of vaugarde, so you could interpret it as a link to the island. if you so desire :3

speaking of the sash, just about everything they’re wearing here is based on another character!! in this case, it’s meant to resemble nille’s waist sash! but with a different pattern. something something only having an imitation of what it lost. the stars are meant to represent siffrin and loop, and also just the universe in general. fun stuff!

i mostly just made their shirt longer for the sake of looking Different from normal bonnie? but combined with the sash it has the fun bonus of having a silhouette similar to siffrin’s cloak. not full intentional but hey! i’ll take it!

the gems on its tail are there to represent odile!! as well as referencing the ka buan tradition of compressing ashes into diamonds. you can draw your own conclusions there! and they go ding ding when it walks :3

the hat/halo isss probably self explanatory? it’s a way to fit guide’s Spiky Head into the design. the halo was added pafter pastell drew buns version of the design auau. i like both! so their hat can be whatever shape you please.

okay! nno more talking about clothes i promise. similar to my ghostlight loop design, i gave it spikier hair!! i have to give sponsors spiky hair to resemble their Spiky Heads. it’s the law. their hair was supposed to be shorter but. i’m pretty sure this is the exact same length i usually draw bonnie’s hair. oops? oh well it looks cute. the stars are honestly just there for fun i didn’t have anything specific in mind

in a similar vein, i changed their eye shape to match the eye shape on guide’s ref! perpetually Sad Looking. on the bright side they aren’t constantly crying anymore!

here’s the thing about thea calling it jeans “old tricks.” we’re given more than ample clues to fill in the blanks. jean refused to let anyone else in the nest know he was raped. he and kevin painstakingly covered up after riko because they were too proud to let anyone in on the abuse they faced. thea has no reason to suspect assault— ive said it before, but there’s no crime unless jean speaks up.

i see the claim that jeremy knew it was statutory rape so thea should have, but jeremy is in california, from california, born & raised. the age of consent is 18, as opposed to 16 in west virginia. jeremy is operating under a different legal framework. but look at the scene as a whole: it’s not important that jeremy believes it was statutory rape, because that accusation leads to jeans revelation that he never consented. it may not have been statutory under west virginia law, but it was rape. thea and jean have never had that conversation, and if jean has it his way they never will.

thea looks at jean and she has no reason to see a victim, but every reason to see a teenager she cares about making bad decisions that hurt him. jean himself tells her they were just mistakes. that’s how her “old tricks” sentence comes across. she’s tired. it sets her apart from the rest of the ravens— that’s far more compassion than any of the current line up gave him.
