idk my stained glass post is going around again and a lot of people are saying it's inspiring them but they're still hesitant to start whatever craft has their fancy rn, so here's a dipshit's guide to getting from horsey to whale when you're starting out a craft

Step 1: skim a tutorial.

don't take notes, don't pay all that much attention to it, give it like. at max 10 minutes of your time. Just get the general shape of the process into your head along with any relevant safety precautions.

the point of doing this is to stop yourself from forming expectations. Expectations are the motivation killer. Strangle them to death.

Step 2: Tool time

You may want to start right in on a project, you might even have one in your head already.

Don't. Stop that, see the point above about expectations. Your first project is going to suck major nuts, it doesn't matter what you do, so you simply must plan to make your first project as nut-sucktastic as physically possible. Burry your expectations so deep in the ground that you will leap over them by simply faceplanting.

So here's what you do instead, gather the necessary tools and materials then set aside an amount of material that you are ok with just pissing away. just absolutely wasting. If you went right in and got discouraged enough to drop a project while doing it, youd be wasting the materials anyway. Might as well get the wasting over and done with Before it eats hours of your mortal life.

Ok, now pick the first tool and associated skill involved in your new craft and just practice That. Don't try to make anything, just learn the motions and teach yourself how things move or break or bend or etc etc etc. all the real basic boring parts that don't produce anything.

Then move onto the next steps associated skills and tools. Connect them back to the product you got from practicing the first step if you can, then the third and so on, so that at the end of this ordeal you too can have a horrible abomination you can pretend looks like a horse.

Step 3: nap

With that done, fuck off and do something else for a bit. like for at Least a few hours if not a full day. Take a nap. do some drugs, play a hentai gatcha game, fuck if I care man. Just don't do the craft. This is the best way to kill expectations: fuckin forgetting what you're capable of.

step 4: learn it right this time

Actually watch/read that tutorial now. like. for real. give it your full atten and take notes on where you fucked up and how you struggled back in step two. like actual written/typed notes. You're going to be focusing on those areas and having a neat list to keep thing orderly in your head can help.

at this point it's also a good idea to try to find other tutorials that explain the Thing, but have a different person explaining it. or tutorials that are more granular. like ones that talk about the skills involved in a single step instead of the whole process. having that little bit more detail can be a game changer.

step 5: visualization

Come up with the easiest and most basic project you can think of while referring to that list of areas you struggled. You want this project to primarily focus on those weak spots and give you room to practice and improve them. ok. and now scrape the top 10% off the project. Make it easier make it smaller, make it less detailed, find a pattern instead of making your own, whatever just simplify it that little bit more.

Step 6: just do it

actually do that project while referring to your tutorials and notes.

Let yourself fuck up. Let yourself waste shit. And then move on. Don't get tangled in expectations, or let your perfectionism strangle you. Look it in the eye and strangle it back, make your shit uglier just to spite it.

Skills take time to develop. Give yourself that time and don't let your brain issues take the joy of creation from you. It's fuckin hard, but you've Got to do it if you want a modicum of happiness in this hell world. the vibe is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy but done with pure violence and vitriolic hatred of what your own neurosis are trying to take from you.

step 7: aw shit it's a never ending cycle

repeat step 5, but go for something a bit harder, then step six until you find a new muse to start over at step 1 with.

Hello, Mr. Lev, sir! They added Octopath Traveler to GamePass, and I've been itching to play it after seeing how much it has enraptured you. Any advice or anything I should know going in?

Oh absolutely, lemme lay out some stuff:

Gameplay-wise, this game is very strategy-based and often grind-heavy. If you wanna slap some mods onto it to make the gameplay less tedious in terms of exp/jp gain, I would not blame you At All. If you're into that kinda stuff (like me) it's a LOT of fun utilizing strategy to take down beasts, but if you're not, I say there's no shame in watching a playthrough instead.

You will see people talking a lot of shit on this game. These are typically people who got their opinions from people who already do not like RPGs and went into a game mis-marketed by Square Enix, who is already well known for botching the marketing on everything they produce except Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. The game is a pretty consistent 7-8 out of 10, it's not the best thing they've ever made but it is not even CLOSE to the worst thing theyve put out and people get wayyy too mad about it for some reason.

Don't, like...go in expecting super deep inter-party interactions. You get plenty of them, like 3-4 per chapter after everyone's chapter 1 (in order to get them you need to have the specific character they wanna talk to in your party. After a major plot beat the move is usually to go to the tavern and swap people out until you see the party banter icon in the corner, but if you don't wanna do that they're all available on the octopath wiki). It's annoying that there's not more of them but for me what really makes my brain like to gnaw on it is that the characters are all strongly written but there's a *lot* of space left in the air to be filled in, and if you mesh with the characters and the storytelling you'll find that it's so easy to fill in the blanks yourself.

If you don't vibe with one, that's fine. Two is generally considered the better of the two for the technical improvements and more inter-party interaction, but there's no right answer in terms of which one is narratively better. It's alllllll subjective

btw invest in Therion early. hes good as a dodge tank and a magic user but the OT1 Thief movelist is actually kinda nuts. He doesn't have to be the one you start with but if you do I apologize in advance for the funny purple thief brainrot

Same with Tressa, parts of the Merchant movelist may seem underwhelming at first but once you get to the point where money is easy to come by and you have A Certain Secret Job, it's VERY hard to justify leaving her at home for tough fights.

also you should play Live A Live. its not quite right to call it OT a spiritual successor but it takes some strong cues from it. also the remake on switch is really good

store any extra reviver seeds and petrify orbs you find. you will probably need it

if you find yourself in a bind, USE ITEMS. even a sleep seed can go a long way when you toss it at an enemy

the move dig is insane against the main campaign boss

stack missions if you can! if you have more than one mission from the bulletin that takes place in the same dungeon you should do all of them at once

base stats in pokemon mainline series means nothing here. you can have a butterfree with max stats in everything (255). you can boost pokemon stats permanently with medicinal items (protein, iron, etc) and drinks from spinda’s cafe. this lack of base stat disparity is why people can clear zero isle with smoochum. also there is no base speed stat unique to each pokemon, because it’s a dungeon crawler all pokemon have equal speed unless it’s modified with movement boosting. some pokemon may have a +1 boosted movement speed by default, such as deoxys-s, shaymin-s, and dialga with time tripper IQ skill unlocked. and kecleon when you steal from a shop for some ungodly reason. some abilities may increase movement speed in different conditions like chlorophyll in sunny weather

odd floors will generate male pokemon and even floors will generate female pokemon. this might not seem significant but it can be helpful for some gender-based evolutions like getting a female snorunt or male kirlia. at 0 stage stat changes, male and genderless pokemon have a 1.5x bonus applied to a move’s base critical hit rate while at the same time decreasing their evasion rate from foe hits by about 1.03 (268/256). female pokemon have higher move accuracy by about 1.03 (268/256) and neutral evasion (256/256), but this evasion is better in comparison to male or genderless pokemon. i believe genderless pokemon can appear on either floor dont quote me on that but it will follow the male bonus regardless of it was found on an odd or even floor

turns are everything in this game. smokescreen isn’t really a good move in mainline games but it’s fuckin nuts here because it basically renders opponents unable to hit you for a few turns

i really need to link moves more but thats why theyre awesome. there are so many big brained combinations. usually a status move and then an attack but it only takes up one turn

if you eat gummis normally you get an IQ increase and Maybe stat increase, but you will always get stat increases when you make gummis into drinks at spindas cafe so you get more out of them. you can save scum at the save well for “good feeling drink” bonuses if you want. like maybe every 3rd gummi if you dont get a feel good bonus you reset, and every time you do get one you save

why eat gummis? IQ skills are important and helpful in different ways. my favorites are map surveyor, stair sensor, acute sniffer, all-terrain hiker, natural gifter, deep breather, and multitalent

different pokemon families fall into different IQ groups (A-J). a group is essentially a different “kit” of IQ skills. IQ groups basically tell what kind of role they have on your team

heres the list of IQ skills in EoS. off to the side under the “group” column you can click on each IQ group for their kit and the pokemon in that group. list of pokemon in each IQ group (ctrl + F searchable)

x-ray specs are broken when you combine them with map surveyor and stair sensor IQ skills. you can also tell how many items on the floor are hidden with acute sniffer by subtracting the number visible on the map with x-ray specs from the number given by acute sniffer. they need to be worn by the team leader though.

you can collect items in walls with a one-room orb, mobile scarf (watch out for belly drain), palkia’s absolute mover, or being ghost type

speaking of the team leader there are many things that are only effective when done by the team leader, such as recruitment, so watch out for that. also you need to be on an adjacent tile to a pokemon to recruit it. if you defeat them ranged it wont work

natural gifter is busted with natural items like seeds and berries (especially with items like golden seed or sitrus berry) because the team leader also gets the boost. but if you want to spread the effect of artificial items like vitamins and gummis to your whole team, you want a team leader with the IQ skill pierce hurler equipped with lockon specs. pierce hurler is essentially a built-in pierce band which allows thrown items to penetrate through whatever is in tile line of sight before going out of bounds. lockon specs boosts the accuracy of the item coming into contact with the pokemon, so it’s better than just the pierce band because you can ensure that none of the beneficial items “miss” your teammates. go into a dungeon hallway with your team in a single file line, make sure the IQ skill pierce hurler is turned on, have your lockon specs equipped to the leader, face your team and throw vitamins or gummis. this is excellent for vitamins but i prefer doing spinda’s cafe for gummis in the long run one at a time since you get a guaranteed increase in at least one stat every time and sometimes rich bonuses like HP increase as well if youre lucky

monster houses are fuckin scary at first but easier as time goes on. when you first start seeing them you should use petrify orbs. eventually you will start seeing some room clearing moves such as blizzard, discharge, earth power. if you can get that on your side you’ll have an advantage. you should also account for movement speed. you’ll be able to attack multiple times in a row if your movement speed is boosted, whether its from a quick seed or agility. probably the best room clearing move is silver wind because it hits multiple enemies and each hit has a chance of boosting all your stats including speed. it has a low hit-rate though to balance it, but unless youre extremely unlucky youre probably going to get multiple hits across the monster house

USE TEAM TACTICS. it gives you a bit of control over how your partner pokemon move. a cleared monster house is a great example because they are usually filled with traps. maybe your team leader has trap seer IQ skill (Able to step on traps without setting off) but not your teammates. change the team’s tactics to “wait there” in the hallway outside of the monster house, go in and collect the loot, go back to the hallway and turn it back to “let’s go together”. no harm done to teammates or even yourself if youre careful. (or your items: there are sticky traps which make your items unuseable, explosion traps which damage you, your teammates, and destroy all floor items and walls around, pokemon traps which turn floor items into pokemon, sludge traps which turn edible inventory items into grimy food. so it’s always good to avoid these scenarios when you can.) another example is if your teammate gets tile warped to a different part of the floor. dont let them move unless you know they can handle themself. change their tactic to “wait there” and go find them while making sure they dont die with oran berries.

you can also control your teammate’s moves by switching them off in the menu. this comes in handy when they start using status moves for no reason. the check mark next to the name of the move means it’s switched on and the teammate will pull from whatever moves you have checked. it doesnt mean anything on the leader pokemon though

i find it more convenient to use less strong moves such as confusion instead of psychic because they tend to have higher hit rates and more PP. the reason why is that the item ginseng can permanently boost their power, but ginseng is hard to come across so i just generate wonder mail s codes for them like a chump (shoutout to the og apointlessplace.net…i remember thinking “well its not very pointless is it” and that same thought still echoes in my head). but this is optional you dont have to cheat.

i go with celebi as my leader most of the time, with ginseng’d weaker moves. i originally shaped celebi in an attempt to recruit kecleon (which i still havent had success with) since you need the fast friend IQ skill in addition to the golden mask and be at lv 100 to even get kecleon’s chances ABOVE 0% recruitment. but even without all the kecleon recruitment stuff having deep breather IQ skill + chrono veil item in bag i virtually never have to use max elixrs for myself. by making celebi prepared for kecleon i incidentally made celebi prepared for anything lol

I’ve never been one for role swap au’s tbh. I think there was only one that ever caught my attention, but the characters were so insanely on point that I could envision the show in my head. In all the body swaps that I’ve read, it’s Splinter being like “ya’ll could benefit from being in someone else’s shoes. Here’s what we gonna do”

I prefer a character being forced to manage in another’s brain/body for some time. There’s so much potential in those 🤩

What are April and Casey’s roles?

I suppose Casey is more muscle, but April seems to tilt between brains/muscle as it pleases her. She absolutely wants to be seen as a warrior, but she works with Donnie in his lab during research and making connections and whatnot.

“Added April and Casey” implies that the role swap includes everyone, so just swapping Donnie&Casey feels shortsighted. (I don’t mean that to be offensive in any way. I’m thinking outloud.) We could give Casey’s role to Donnie, but with the wide group of people, I feel like Donnie’s role should go elsewhere. If that makes sense?

Yk what April’s taking Leo’s role, I’ve decided. Not because “haha she’d probably be bad at it” but because I think she’d find a potential to be a leader when given the chance and that would be neat.

Mikey can take April’s place bc it would give him the chance to be more involved in things. “You never question April when she says she has a feeling about stuff! “You always let April help out in the lab!” “You let April check out leads solo!” He wouldn’t care that she’s a human or that she has psychic powers. She got to when it came to helping the team so that’s what he gets to do.

Raph can take Mikey’s role because he deserves to know what it’s like for his main role on the team to be bait. He can’t always fight mutants head on because he has to keep them busy so his brothers can take the baddy down. He can’t protect his brothers because he’s meant to headed in another direction. That would drive him nuts. (I’d think it’d be cute if he demanded to know how Mikey could stand it and Mikey’s all chill like “I just trust that my big bros have it covered like they always do” and then he’s utterly humbled.) He’d also be put in the position of having to be the “face man” (of sorts) and make friends with optional allies. Stop being grumbly and glaring for five minutes to hold a conversation. It’ll be his ultimate struggle.

Casey can take Raph’s role because it’s basically his role except he’s not able to play the loner game anymore. The fam always kind of lets Casey do his own vigilante thing during the series, but now that’s not allowed. And Raph makes it very clear on day one. His job is to be by their side when something big is going down. And if being the leader’s second is the way to accomplish that then he has to deal. He can complain, he can whine, he can make the leader’s life impossible- but he has to be there when they need him. PERIODT.

Donnie can take Casey’s role because he deserves to not have to be a big part of the game for five minutes. There’s no monumental role, no impossible task, the fate of everything is no longer on his shoulders- he can just, fight. And when not on the field, he can do as he pleases. He’s not expect in the lab, in the dojo, in any kind of strategy planning- he can pick one or he can hang out. He can snack, he can videogames/shows, he can read comics, he can run away the surface- he has essentially free range when he’s not actively on a mission. (The only downside is that he actually does like having people rely on him and look to him for answers. He likes keeping his hands busy with purpose. And punching baddies 24/7 gets kinda old.)

Leo can take Donnie’s place. He’d be the most capable of taking on the role of genius since there have been scenes where he pays attention to his brother because the mission depends on it. He admits to helping out in the lab on occasion, or he’s seen with Donnie discussing blueprints, and he’s probably the most likely to be able to actually listen to Donnie’s written instructions or notes and not blow up the lab because he got frustrated or decided to wing it. (Plus, Leo should see the kind of stuff Donnie has to deal with on a daily basis.)

But anyway. That’s just my thoughts on the matter.

I have an issue that’s been greatly troubling me.

I’ll keep it simple: I’m in a very healthy and committed relationship with a guy I love and he truly loves me for who I am. (I’m a trans guy.) We’ve been together for a little over two years now and we live together.

Seemingly out of nowhere, I’m absolutely slammed with an insatiable crush on my other guy friend.

We all hang out in groups and play games (including my partner) and I just started catching him glancing away from me when I’d look back at him or feel him staring and it’s making my brain go nuts for him. I do know him well also and I know he’s a kind, smart person.

I usually brush stuff like this off but as of now I’ve woke from multiple steamy dreams involving him specifically and thoughts of him at plaguing my mind.

My love for my current partner has not diminished at all, but I find myself liking my crush *in addition to* my partner and I know this isn’t viable or fair to my partner.

It’s causing me enough stress to weigh on my mind often lately and it’s making me worry about our future together.

I don’t even know if my crush would LIKE me as a trans guy, I think he just thinks I’m cute.

Let's see. I see both of them as being very light sleepers, easily woken by noises, stirring, bad dreams, etc. Consequently once they're sharing a bed it becomes somewhat common practice for them to accidentally wake each other up - either jostling each other during normal nighttime movement or because one of them had a nightmare.

Both of them get good at not being bothered by this, over time, and get in the habit of coming half-awake, gauging the situation, coming further awake if the other needs them, or snuggling back in and falling back asleep if nothing is happening.

The most obvious one for me to talk about here is my involvement in the BG3 community which has revitalized my creativity from a very very dormant state, gotten me writing again, and introduced me to some really awesome new people who are inspiring to me. :) (Including you! Since you sent this ask I'll go ahead and highlight that I've really been enjoying our conversations about Jaheira and everything else, and that I'm glad we've started chatting! c: )

I'm finally slowly starting to unfurl myself from my Covid isolation and get out and explore the city again - particularly starting to make regular appearances at the local karaoke bar which is definitely helping me rebuild some social confidence that was lacking.

I'm very excited to be settling in to life in my new house and starting to think about the ways I want to customize and personalize it, starting with the recording booth I'm getting set up in the basement.

Oof, tough choice. The truth is, any fic that I'm that excited about, I'm gonna want to write myself. Probably it would be something about either Jaheira or Karlach or both. (To be honest, I think The Grand Reunion - the Jaheira post-game supposed-to-be-one-shot that has gotten tremendously out of hand - has potential to touch on a LOT of stuff that I think is really important about her character, so that might qualify.)

That said, I think the purpose of this question is for me to highlight other writers I enjoy. Honestly hard for me to pick; there are so many talented writers in this fandom, to the extent that I feel quite intimidated by them at times. Hi honeybun! Sorry for the delay, I was busy horsing around! And thank you so much for the ask, I will try to not spontaneously combust while talking about my fave! And you did ask about my fave, so you brought this on yourself! Here we go!

2. Favourite canon thing about this character?

Before I start, I have to let you know, I am Indecisive(TM). As fuck. Which means I often don't have favourites simply because I cannot choose which one to pick. And also there are so many things about him that I love. Like his design. I love all the symbiotes but there is just something about his face and the way he looks that scratches my brain just right and makes me go apeshit. And that he is a wet pathetic dumbass extraordinaire, worse than when he is Venom even though he desperately tries to pretend like he's got his shit together. Like, they were always idiots but I swear Symby took half the braincells in the divorce, and when he got Anti they had to split what was left. And of course the whole religious nut messiah complex is funny as hell. Also little things like the way using his healing powers leaves him conked out, and the way he grows tiny spikes all over when he gets agitated or upset. God I love his little spikes. And also the way he embodies the whole "If I cannot be wanted, I will be needed, and if I cannot be needed I will be used until there is nothing left". Aughhh.

4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?

I actually don’t do a lot of crossovers between different media, as I usually prefer putting my blorbos in situations in their own universe, or completely off the shits headcanons. But remember that story idea about symbiotes disguising themselves while in the spider verse? Yeah, I've stuck him in the spider verse a number of times for shits and giggles. Also because the multiverse means unlimited potential for settings and situations for them all to get roped into. Otherwise I do like putting him in medieval or fantasy settings, usually in multiverse context, because symbiote dragons babey!

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

Oh my. There are SO MANY HEADCANONS swirling around my noggin. (Like, I use canon for cherry picking, then take that and bits and pieces of fanon and anything I can find that I like and put it in a blender, then fill the gaps with whatever headcanons I feel like. Just frankensteining together several versions of him in my head that are between 30-80% headcanon, I keep them on rotation for whatever fits the mood.) One of my main headcanons is that Anti-Venom survives the spider island event. Simply because I don’t want him to die, and for fanfic plot reasons so that he and Agent Venom get more fun times together ;). I have a few different takes on how exactly the symbiote lives on, but it's kinda similar to how Carnage had bonded so closely with its host that it never really left, and could regenerate itself over time from the smallest traces in his body. Bonus points are that the biblical similarities of Anti-Venom sacrificing itself to save the souls of the innocent by giving up its body, only to rise from the dead some time later would absolutely send Eddie's messiah complex into overdrive and make him even more insufferable. Oh, right, and I should probably also mention that I frequently headcanon Anti-Venom as sentient/sapient. Because I want to, and because it makes things a lot more interesting. But I won't go into more detail about that here or else this will turn into a dissertation.

6. My favorite character

I regret to say that. Vyce is maybe possibly my favorite. Cerya is definitely a close second but there is something wrong with my brain and whenever I see a character make absolutely undeniably horrible decisions many times in a row I get heart eyes. I just think he's neat!!! And his whole terrible relationship with Denam compels me. Whatever those guys have going on is insane and also really funny <3

Honorable mention to all the Phoraena sisters though, I'm really enjoying how often they get to interact + how their stories build on each other. I cannot remember how far I've gotten in posting my little screenshots yet, but I did get to recruit Sherri a while ago and got that scene where Olivya and Denam kinda talk her down. It's really fun to see the four of them comfort/interact with/argue with each other with everything that's going on--I feel like it's uncommon to see sibling dynamics with more than two siblings let alone four, so it's fun to see tactics ogre tackle that

19. Favorite headcanon

Speaking of the phoraena sisters!!!! Ever since I picked up Sherri my brain's been trying to piece together how exactly all of them would interact with each other so now I've got this fun convoluted little web which I'm now going to inflict upon the world.

Mostly my take is that I think Cerya + Cistina have really similar personalities (really opinionated + stubborn) while Sherri + Olivya are really similar in a different way (more laid-back, tend to be more passive-aggressive than outright aggressive), and that Cerya + Sherri / Cistina + Olivya would tend to be a little more fond of each other just because they're closer in age.

I also think if they were going to have a vote of "sister most likely to defect to the Bakram army and try to kidnap our dad" it probably would have been in order: Cistina, Cerya, Sherri, Olivya, so it would have been pretty out there when Sherri was the one to go nuts after their mom died. "Most likely to start her own rebel army" was definitely Cerya though. 100% all of them saw that coming and actively made plans around it

Oh, I am delighted to answer this! Thank you for the ask, I love our Twisted Wonderland Saw AU, and as the end of September approaches I become more and more excited to go see Saw X.

Riddle - The rules of the games have always been about targeting people who are taking life for granted, whether it's their own or someone else's. Riddle loves rules. I also think this would translate over to laws; as they are definitely rules. So, in general I think Riddle is not overly picky about which law-breakers he puts into a trap.

However, the ones he gets most satisfaction from putting in a trap are the ones who are meant to uphold the rules. People in power who should be protecting others, but end up abusing the power and instead using it to allow themselves to get away with crimes such as theft, assault, etc., those are the ones Riddle feels deserve this the most. He's going after corrupt cops, corrupt politicians, people who scam others out of money with fraudulent practices.

Riddle knows that what he's doing also breaks some laws, but he doesn't feel it's hypocritical of him to target those people. After all, he's using what power he has to protect others from corrupt individuals by forcing them to either change or die.

Leona - Leona also goes for people who abuse their power; specifically people who use their physical strength to intimidate and overpower others and hurt them. Basically, muscleheads who use their strength against others. I think he would hate them the most because he has a bit of a chip on his shoulder about brains vs. muscle.

I think it gives him a bit of satisfaction to trap people who think they can just muscle their way out of problems or make others take the consequences. He likes the realization in their eyes when they finally realize they have to face the consequences of their own actions. They don't have to necessarily be convicted criminals for him. (he still thinks John is a bit nuts though.)

Azul - I think Azul would actually have a list of people for Jigsaw to have investigated on the regular; all people he'd be willing to put into traps. Why? Because he still runs the Monstro Lounge; with multiple locations. "But Meags," you might say, "what does that have to do with anything?" Well, honestly, while Azul works his staff hard and demands a certain level of service for customers, he's not stupid and he hates when people make a mess of what he sees as his. So, Azul goes less for the criminals, but more for the people who are shitty to the waitstaff. People who mock their servers, people who are rude to bartenders and harass them, racists who throw a fit about the nationality of whoever is serving them, people who make a scene and disturb the environment of the lounge, and anyone who makes his staff feel like absolute shit. Azul knows he needs workers who want to come to work, not people who dread every minute of interaction with the customers. So, maybe he doesn't get to know all his staff personally; he's got a big chain of restaurants in this AU. But, he's gonna make damn sure he doesn't let customers get in the way of their work or damage the mental health of his staff. It's a bit of an open secret among staff that if you tell Jade or Floyd or Azul that a customer harassed you, a few months down the line that customer will stop coming to the restaurant for good.

I honestly think he'd want to put so many in a trap that Jigsaw tells him he has to make a wait-list and also has to sprinkle in some different victims here and there to avoid suspicion being thrown on the Lounge.

Kalim - It's been established many times in canon that Kalim has been a victim of poisoning attempts and kidnappings. This is part of the AU too. I think Kalim would want to prevent other children from suffering like that, so I think he actually goes after people who abuse and mistreat children. Especially if the judicial system decided not to put them behind bars or gave them a lenient sentence. It pains him to see how poor the justice system can be when it comes to the protection of children. He feels compelled to do something about it, and while working to support charities and advocate for children's mental health and support is what he can do publicly, sometimes it really feels like it's not enough.

Vil - Vil is going after people who use date-rape drugs. He can't stand it. He's the kind of person who knows what it's like to feel like you have no autonomy in a situation (movie industries are notorious for how they mistreat child actors) and he hates it. He's also of the belief that if a person needs to use drugs to get with someone they're interested in, they are truly pathetic. He hates the attitude of "it should come to me naturally and if it doesn't that's everyone else's fault". If someone says no, they mean no, and Vil is fully in support of that.

SA is a terrible crime and he is fully disgusted by it. While he will choose various committers of various crimes/infractions, sexual offenders are his go-to for traps when he can.

Idia - The bigger the challenge, the more Idia wants to do it. He wants the ones who are so clearly committing crimes, ripping people off, stepping on people, scamming people, and abusing the people who work for them; but have so little concrete evidence tying them to their deeds that the police have nothing to arrest them for. That, or they are technically not committing crimes but are definitely making life miserable or even endangered for other people for no reason. He gets a thrill out of finding all the little pieces and stringing them together, and he feels wholly satisfied when the whole trap comes together and he gets to watch the person finally face their comeuppance.

He's a pro at getting information, almost as fast as Lilia and Malleus are when it comes to researching and stalking the victims. He's got a number of online aliases and uses them to get as much information as he can from any and every source. For him, there's always a thrill when he finally nails someone who thought they were completely able to get away with mistreating and abusing others.

Malleus - For Malleus, his choices depend more on the day and what he sees. In this AU, we've established with each other that Malleus and Lilia being Fae allows them to bump up their timelines because they don't need to spend as much time stalking and researching the perpetrator due to Fae powers.

I think that for Malleus, he doesn't really have a type that he wants to put in traps. If he sees someone committing a crime or degrading another person, they are all potential victims for his traps. Because clearly they need to be taught to appreciate their own life and the lives of others.

Of course, for all the Housewardens, the Number One person they want to put in a trap is Anyone Who Harms/Insults/Offends Yuu. Because they are very protective of their non-magic friend and love them dearly. :D

moving continues...

So, we continue to move into my dad's place. I think I've mentioned before it's beautiful because of the work he did to it. Anyhow, it's obvious he had a life-limiting disease because the cobwebs are epic, and I am spending at least 1/4 of all my time cleaning after moving things. It's a lot of working, deciding which of his things are better than ours and which of ours are better for us, and thank god we have the time to move over.

Anyhow, a brief tour through my place based on photos I've sent my brother.

This is my laundry room. My Dad built it because it's a 4-level split, and he hated going down three flights of stairs for laundry. It's right across from the bathroom in the 1st basement, so there's a dresser down there that has my scrubs in it (which is what my mum did). Those shelves were all for books, but I've brought over the crafting stuff, and that's where it's stored for now.

Those seagulls are a key memory from my childhood. They go clang clang together and my tiny ADHD brain loved the sound. It made my parents nuts. Anyhow, that's the edge of the fireplace my Dad refurbished from an UGLY 70s brick fireplace to a gorgeous craftsman style fireplace.

Okay, this is my new corner bookshelf from Wayfair, but it shows the beautiful hardwood floors, the beautiful woodworking in the dining room. So good. I hate that wallpaper, but not enough to be worried about changing it.

This is the 'eating area' in the kitchen. My Dad built this all and there used to be a small table in the slot. It was awesome when I just had The Girlchild because she could sit at the end of the table and Mum and Dad would face each other for meals. But since Mum passed, the eating area table had become a shit repository, and so now it's the family computer station. I am using it currently because I got a fancy ergonomic gaming chair on clearance today and I wanted to testdrive the set up. Set up is good. The hexagons are for my pins. I had 8 of them at my old place and bought 8 more for here because I have an awesome spot for them. Dad built that clock - I think we have 3 or 4 clocks that he made between the houses - both kids have one, my old dining room has one, there's this one and there's a shaker clock in the living room. Yes, that is my children in a walmart portrait studio portrait in their inflatible dinosaur costumes. Best photo ever.

Anyhow, it's a lot of work, the stairs are absolutely killing me, my back is sore, and when I'm not feeling shitty because of the grief, I'm happy that I have such a beautiful forever home that my Dad used his talents to make so perfect.

i don't have much of opinions! as one could... probably tell from my excessive iterator posting and extreme lack of scug posting

lore wise i will forever stick with my ultimate fav scug, Hunter. being a pre-Downpour fan has conditioned me into thinkin of the vanilla scugs the most and i'm most attached to them as well. Hunter is my fav of the three because of how unique they are compared to the other two, the amount of special lore and explanations their campaign offers to us. also i fucking love NSH endlessly so those two are a combo to open up my heart. they are actually the reason why i ended up hyperfixating on RW the first time around!

Survivor at the end of the day is the most basic scug, no matter what people say that's just a factual truth with her bein the first lil bugger peeps usually try out, but i've had a lot of fun playing with her characterization and my absolutely favorite thing to do is pair her up with Pebbles. Survivor is Five Pebbles' Cat to me. from the olden days

i don't have much to say about Monk except the fact that i'm still quietly laughing about how on THEIR campaign i got more pissed than anywhere fuckin else except Gourmand i think. like this peaceful little sunshine parading around in the world and then there's me behind the screen cursing up a fuckin Storm truly embracing my inner Bitch... i had fun with that..... either way, the fact that he can see traces of Survivor in the shelters is So Fucking and the possible parallels between vanilla scug sibs n Pebs n Moons are eating my brain alive whenever i dedicate a braincell to the slugcats

the Downpour scugs are more in the bg to me and also offer a sort of like... not exactly completely 100% continuation of the game, but one of the possible canonical paths the story could've taken n i ain't gon lie i often forget or ignore some Downpour facts because of my ass bein so stuck with the vanilla game

either way, Arti's maul ability is the best thing invented for this game, Gour is Neat and i really gotta go and explore OE better with Surv cuz that place is Very interesting from the lore stand point (also that map Pebs flashes when openin the gate is SUPER cool). Spearmaster is prolly my favorite of all the scugs cuz of their mechanics n the whole uncollapsed LTTM structure is a delicious world-building, along with the first hint towards the climate, the shit with Seven Red Son-of-a-bitches and the broadcasts at large. i'm affectionate for Spear. that lil fella can climb up with the vanilla scugs i shall allow it. Riv was... the most notable things to me about them was The Rot/Pebbles condition/his last words and then their crack cocaine eyes. love headcanoning UI made 'em like that with actual crackies. the ending with Moon didn't... really hit me for some reason- but still, i'd rank the coolness of their lore on the third place because of The Rot kush

now Saint... Saint is a though nut to crack to me because of Two ✌ reasons. 1. i still haven't fucking finished playing this asshole. 2. there is a lot of room for interpretations. which is a GOOD thing, i Like when that happens, but it makes talking about the lore of the rat harder. ultimately without any brainstorming, Saint's lore is a confusing outta-nowhere mess that is so extremely far from the original ideas and themes of the vanilla game that my head spins. at first i legit thought that the lore of the thing would break what vanilla has already laid out, but thankfully i'm a person who likes to shrug so i shrugged and let it be n started figuring out my own interpretation of it all which has been a lot of fun. what i have going on for Saint in my stuff i adore all SO so so much n ofc shout out to shkiki's interpretation for being one of the coolest i've seen too

n Sain't mechanics have. made me stupidly daring with death jumps i don't know what's happening but that tongue has made me basically jump off a ledge without any preparation before that Sky Islands/Chimney karma gate n i didn't even flinch about it cuz the.. tongue... i don't fucking know what happened to me there but it was bizarre n i like bizarre in this game so i'm givin that shit 4 pats out of 5 you-tried stars. i also got fucking BULLIED BY A SCAVENGER IN FRONT OF A SHELTER FOR TEN MINUTES THATS GETTING A 5 MINUTE FROWN OUT OF GODDAMMIT THIS GAME

My choices have been very carefully considered because it’s so hard to narrow it down when it comes to my two favorite things jwjfjdjsndjdks

Okay okay so, easy one first!

Sypha is a Parasaurolophus. They’re magic-coded - I don’t make the rules. There’s something both ethereal and imposing about Paras that screams “yes, I’m very lovely, but watch out.” Like, it’s kinda nuts just how big Paras are. I wouldn’t want to get charged by one. If that’s not Sypha, then idk what is. Visually, the crest is like a built-in staff that I think would be a good visual link. And this has absolutely nothing to do with Parasaurolophus being my favorite hadrosaur and one of my favorites in general. 👀💦

Grant’s hard to pick a dino for tbh, but if we’re going “small-but-mighty”, then any species of microraptor would fit really well! They were capable of climbing and of gliding, so I think that fits well with Grant’s abilities in-game. That said though, any species of dromeaosaurid like Velociraptor or even Utahraptor works, too. Considering that there’s some fossil evidence to suggest that Utahraptor may have hunted cooperatively (at least in family groups), then I think that’s as good a fit as any for Grant’s role as a team player. Oh, that and the sickle claws. But, going off of that aesthetic alone, then Therizinosaurus or other related species with big, fuck-all claws works, too. Maybe even something like Suchomimus?

Trevor’s hard to pick for, too. I want to say any large dromeaosaur, but then part of me is like “why not a Diplodocus because of its whip tail and long shape?” Which, like, yeah, tall and long is Trevor to a T. Again, hard to pick between the two options, but I think I’m more inclined to say big dromeaosaur. Preferably one that has big feathers since Trevor is “soft-but-sharp-coded” in my lil pea brain. Oops, my favorite family of carnivorous dinosaurs has been discovered.

Alucard has to be a dino with horns or something. Again, I don’t make the rules. But I don’t think any ceratopsian fits him?? So that basically leaves either Ceratosaurus or Carnotaurus. OR something that may have had a really elaborate display feature like Dilophosaurus, and I’m more inclined to pick the Dilo since it’s less bulky than the other contenders. That, and they were pretty big without being massive and losing that streamlined, elegant shape.

(I will say that a large pterosaur like Quetzalcoatlus would fit since they can fly, are huge, and look very graceful, but not a dino.)

Is this subject to change? Maybe, but I like all these options. C:
