Once again thinking about how Takasugi and Katsura do down a very similarly destructive path because they idolized a man that they loved until he might as well have been a deity, making him so fundamental to the way they perceived the world that once he was gone they simply couldn't keep track of a reality that didn't include him. And the reason Zura changed tracks at the start of the show is because he never worshipped Shouyo to the extent Takasugi did - he split his reverence between his Sensei, who made him a Samurai, and Gintoki, who let him be Zura. But in BFY Gintoki went and died, too, sending Katsura tumbling back down the same path as Takasugi.

Gintoki never puts anyone on that sort of pedestal, never places that sort of responsibility on them, not even the man that gave him a sword and a life and a future, which is why he could cope with the loss better than the other two.

He's so human, so undeniably flawed, and after the war and the Shiroyasha he makes sure everyone sees him as such. He messes with Shigeshige and punches Nobunobu and pisses off Yato and mocks everyone he respects because they're all people, none of them are infallible, and he knows that worship can be as dangerous as faith is important.

The ending to episode 1 was just a hit to the face with a bat. It was beautifully done but SO devastating.

YOU’RE RIGHTTTT OH MY GOD. what drives me crazy is the singular piano key repeating as charles finds the metal bones compared to the grand orchestra that normally plays whenever the trio finds a dead body. due to sazz being the first victim that’s a friend to everyone in the trio, there’s a switch up in routine of the soundtrack that creates such a drastically different tone compared to the trio finding tim, bunny, and ben’s bodies. the scene was so well done but it made me feel so sick at the same time

something about the show treating percy's use as only being to serve vex's joy kinda fucking hurts. like vex is distraught, she was in the stream and she was here, that's true. but they are framing this as if it's a romantic loss only and it's making me lose my mind. people don't lose their use to others when they enter a relationship. they don't just become somebody's partner. they're still a person. percy was a full person and vox machina is a family and everyone loved him. that was the point of tearing ripley apart in the original glintshore fight, they were nothing but pure rage because they just watched somebody they love die and at the end of the day, past the monsters and world ending threats everything is about their love with each other, as a group; platonic, familial, romantic, but love as a FAMILY. that is critical to understand. they are who they are because they all love each other, they love each other to the ends of the earth. and the show just. doesn't acknowledge that. percy died so vex could feel sad and that's it. truly what even is the point if nobody else cares. the death doesn't matter if nobody else cares. so percy's death doesn't matter.

oooook so there are two possible explanations for this contradiction. a) bill has become so disconnected from his daughter that he has forgotten how old she is. or, the option that seems more likely, b) alice was seventeen when her parents split up, and therefore considers seventeen years old to be the last age where she was truly bill's daughter. either way another great example of two small bits of dialogue adding so much depth to these two characters who are never truly able to be on stage together except for when alice is already gone

(Which will earn him a raised brow.)

♡ This initial curiosity, however, quickly spirals down into an intense hyperfixation that Barbatos partly blames you for with a long-suffering sigh.

These aren't just random gifts; they come with studied and detailed descriptions of their origins, their ideal conditions, and their unique properties, delivered with his gleaming, unwavering eyes and his fangs peeking out of his smile, wanting praise from you for his thoughtfulness.

♡ Oh, He wouldn't just build terrariums on his own. He'd formally invite you to "collaborate" on a project. (A mere excuse to have you to his eyes only for a few hours.) Picture this: a grand invitation, perhaps sealed with wax, requesting your presence in his greenhouse. Even after his extensive research, he'd constantly seek your advice. He'd hold up a handful of different types of soil, looking genuinely perplexed, asking, "My dearest MC, which of these substrates whispers to you?"

♡ Diavolo would start associating specific plants with you. "This delicate fern, its resilience reminds me of your spirit."

♡ With a terrible pun from Leviathan, he had announced you and him to be the first 'plant parents' to roam Devildom!Eyes gleaming at you, he suggests to start naming the plants you two have raised so far.

♡ Sometimes when he needs to get away from his duties, he shrinks himself down to terrarium size just to "inspect" the miniature world up close.

♡ He had also created a tiny replica of RAD, with clay figurines of you and himself sitting on the biggest mountain. Frequently moves the said figurines around RAD to go on dates. Holding hands and sometimes in inappropriate positions jus to be 'hugging' as he swears
