[Image description: A digital drawing based on the film One Cut of the Dead. It's a close-up of the arms of Ko and Chinatsu as the former approaches her, arms in a raised zombie pose. She clenches an axe which she pushes towards him. Both of them have blood splattered on them. Director Higurashi stands behind the two, hands clutching a camera which is recording, its red tally light standing out. His face is blurred into pixels but it's still clear he's smiling wide. The sketches are not coloured, the background peaking through. They have a dark brown lineart while the background is a sickly yellow that reddens around the edges. In the same red as the tally light, the words "one cut of the dead" are written down the right side of the piece, stacked on one another. The font is irregular and bleeds down. On the other side, there's an larger tally light which also bleeds.]

I wished for a Bioshock movie for Y E A R S
but now that we're finally getting one I don't want it
I do not have faith this is going to be a good adaption, I'm sorry, maybe 10 years ago this could have been a great passion project (especially if Gore Verbinski had been involved like originally planned) but I just know it's going to be an over-actioned, improperly funded (since it's a Netflix production they're absolutely going to either dump too much or not enough money in it then write it off as a failure if it doesn't 'perform' well enough), CGI-laden slop fest that doesn't even acknowledge or properly handle half the themes present in the series.

I just watched Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and I felt like it really solidified one of the reasons why Endgame just did not work in my opinion which was that none of the characters whose stories were ending in that movie actually got a proper send-off that was focused on them. This is because, in Endgame, everything was taking place in the midst of a much larger story where a major goal was still to set up future storylines and ultimately to try to give partial or equal focus to a really unreasonable number of characters. I always hate on Steve’s ending in particular and while I do definitely think it was a majorly poor choice for his character in general it was also just really rushed and didn’t make sense given the pretty minimal amount of time that was allocated to his character in that movie, whereas if Steve had gotten to go out on a final Captain America movie I’m sure it would have been much more likely for him to get an ending that actually aligned with his arc as a whole and within that film. Plus, characters that are so well established deserve to get a real conclusion that is focused on them! And it worked so well in GOTG3 to actually have that but I couldn’t believe it when I realized that this is the first time in the MCU that a series has gotten to end in that way. I feel like it really goes to show how much this type of franchise storytelling wrecks character arcs more often than not because the priority is always the bigger picture rather than the individual story, and I’m happy Guardians got to end in this way but the other characters should have gotten that too :(

I have spent. YEARS. YEARS I TELL YOU.
looking for a collection of childhood films I would watch.
Based on Aladdin.
Everytime someone mentioned Aladdin (one of my favourite Disney films) I would mention this and everyone would look at me like I was crazy
AND I FINALLY FOUND IT.
JASMINES ENCHANTED TALES. GOD HOW I LOVED YOU AS A CHILD JASMINES ENCHANTED TALES.
I would watch it at my grandma's almost constantly. I was watching really niche films (as well as your traditional Disney films) at my grandma's and it's nice to finally find one that I thought I made up! I also watched the swan princess, but I know I didn't make that up because one of the songs was trending on tik tok a while ago. And thumbelina, but I know I didn't make that up because it's trending now. It's nice to remember something good about my childhood. And now I've found my childhood comfort films!!! I loved my grandma's house. I'm so happy.

Hi, I I saw your most recent post about your thoughts on actors performance. I so agree with your thoughts about Miss Stewart, what you said about Anne Hathaway I feel the same way about her. I can always tell she’s playing a character she’s not an actress that disappears which is OK but it’s something I always notice.Timothée Chalamet does as well. It’s so fun watching actors and the different life that they bring to the characters. I so enjoy hearing all your thoughts about actors and movies.
(x)
Hi! And thank you for your lovely words, anon! I watch a lot of movies so I often end up with opinions about a lot of actors, haha. I do like Anne Hathaway, like I said, but she's definitely an Actor You See Acting - I tend to put Cate Blanchett in the same category because I don't think she ever disappears into a role either.
And gosh, yeah, Timothee Chalamet is definitely an actor who I think you can See Acting. I've mentioned it on here before, but I actually think of that crop of young male actors, Tom Holland's the more talented of the two and can be a little more chameleon-like in his roles (I say as one of 4 people who loved The Devil All the Time, haha), but I don't think he has the same feel for projects or, frankly, as good an agent.

every single tony scott movie is queer coded. i don't think every action 80s movie is, and i actually don't think rambo is that gay. commando is pretty gay, that is not a new take. as far as queer coded villains go, mark l. lester, who directed it, has spoken openly on it. the lethal weapons movies were written by shane black, who some people (me, for the first time right now) have described as "only ever making homoerotic christmas movies". beverly hills cop 2 was directed by tony scott. the issue isn't top gun having a normie amount of male gaze mistakenable for gay longing, it's people not drawing gay erotic beverly hills cop fanart. so we agree on that.
