I’m so excited for your mackwill fic! I cannot count how many times I’ve read the snippets you’ve posted thus far. I’m curious though, was there any specific mackwill moment that made you want to write them? Or was it just a culmination of their insane codependency?
oh this is a good question! i feel like i have to make an admission here tho -- initially my interest in willmack was a conduit by which i could explore mack's daddy issues. i know, i know, but i didn't spend all of last year blogging about seasons 1-3 of the cw's supernatural in the year of our lord 2024 to NOT develop a weird obsession with family dynamics.
i did consult my archive to confirm this, so it looks like this was the first post i reblogged this season about macklini, followed quickly by meghan's daddy issues primer. after that, i spent a couple long nights lost in the rabbit hole of macklini draft, dev camp, and pre- and early-season interviews, and it was pretty impossible from there to avoid the smitty of it all. it was also definitely spurred on by this brilliant tofumilanesa fic, which was where i first learned about the 'special person' water bottle fumbling interview. naturally, i had to go watch will's matching one after that, and by then i was in deep.
when it comes to actually wanting to write them, i think what really got me started was that while there were a lot of delicious fics in the tag already, no one was tackling the rick of it all head-on like i wanted. and also no one was giving them the sheer amount of repression and internalized homophobia that i wanted. and that's not to say anything negative, obviously, every writer wants to do different things w their fics, i just personally am really interested in exploring how mack's family Situation would impact the way he approaches interpersonal relationships -- particularly interpersonal relationships that he maybe couldn't tell his family about, or that he never factored in to his understanding of what family could be. (also obligatory ask not mention!!! i will never shut up about that fic; it has done so much for my thinking on will n rick's relationship, not to mention the mack n rick of it all.)
and then ryan leonard broke his nose all over my dash and while will had been interesting before, he suddenly got a lot more 3-d in my mind. so then sharkies had to be 50k.
anyway. long rambling answer, tl;dr: mack is like sam winchester to me. and i needed to put that in writing as soon as possible or i would have to go and rewatch supernatural again.

i have NO idea which ones you’ve already answered ajdkshshdhdj but for the WIP game i would like to humbly inquire about the heart of the sea if you haven’t posted about it already 🙏🙏🙏
omg i am SO SORRY for the time it took for me to answer this ask!! work has been kicking my ass lol but thank you so much for asking! I'd be happy to talk about it <3
the heart of the sea is my pirate AU! The premise is that Harry is a pirate captain, and Tom is the Crown Prince of England; it's written from their dual POV. They meet when Harry is brought before Tom to be sentenced to death for his crimes and it's very much -- if not love, then -- obsession at first sight.
It includes a chase, a lot of found family, and I'd say it's a fast burn.
I haven't touched this one in a while despite having the plot entirely plotted out, but it's one of those wips where the initial idea is good but the execution is mediocre, so it could benefit from a rewrite at some point!
Here's a snippet I posted for a tag game a while ago of their first meeting : link
Here's a snippet from the chase portion of the fic as well :
They all broke off into groups, Harry going off on his own. When he left for the village, the Prince’s ship had been stationed further down the pier from theirs, devoid of any crewmates from the looks of it. He’d tried to get a better look, remaining discreet to avoid his own crewmates' merciless teasing, but he hadn’t seen anyone.
So, maybe wandering off on his own was a decision made with the intent of catching a glimpse of the pretty Prince, no one had to know anyhow.
He thought he’d go and give Suzie a visit, having not seen her in a couple of years.
Walking into the bar though, he saw him. Leaning against the bar was the Prince, wearing distinctively pirate-esque attire, looking absolutely dashing. Harry’s heart rate spiked as he hovered in the doorway. He looked at the people hovering around the Prince but none were paying him any mind, too busy listening to the exchange between the Prince and the barmaid.
Harry walked forward discreetly, leaning against a beam some feet away from the Prince.
“A hundred doubloons,” Suzie was saying and Harry bit his cheek to not laugh, “that’s me last word.”
The Prince scoffed. “A hundred?” he repeated, fingers clenching against the wood.
“A bit much don’t you think, Suzie?” Harry interjected, advancing and leaning against the bar next to the Prince. He relished in everyone’s attention snapping to him, the Prince’s jaw dropping.
“Harry Potter!” Suzie exclaimed, eyes wide. “My, I haven’t seen you in a while dear.”
“Aye,” Harry said, tearing his gaze away from the Prince, an amused grin on his features, “too long my darlin’, give us the usual, yeah?”
She nodded, smiling lightly, a pink blush decorating her cheeks.
“You!” a blonde man spat next to the Prince.
“You know this lot, Harry?” Suzie asked, setting a glass of rum in front of him.
Harry grinned, turning to the Prince who looked shocked. “You could say that, now, how much do I owe you for this, love? Not a hundred I hope.”
Suzie shook her head, smiling. “Only one for that, although,” she added, leaning against the bar suggestively, “my offer still stands if you want it for free.”
Harry smiled warmly, turning back to her. “Aye you know me Suzie…”
She waved a hand in the air, masking her disappointment. “Married to the sea, I know, I know.”
“You know Suzie, lately I’ve been thinking I wouldn't mind a Prince,” he grinned, eyeing the man next to him who was still frozen in shock.
Suzie laughed. “A Prince? Good Lord, and where will you find yourself a Prince?”
Harry angled himself towards Tom, downing the last of his glass and smirking, watching as Tom’s eyes roamed over him. “Not far, I’m sure,” he murmured.
So suddenly Harry would have had no chance of expecting it, a dagger was at his throat and the Prince was pressing him into the bar, pressing the blade into his neck. Harry only grinned. The bar went silent, everyone stilling at the commotion.
“Kill me here Tom and they’ll have your head on a stick before you can appreciate my death,” Harry murmured, holding the Prince’s waist in a bold move.
“You have something of mine,” the Prince sniped, digging the blade further into Harry’s throat. He’d never been more excited in his life. He made a delightful sight, eyes bright with adrenaline, cheeks flushed with anger, hands firm but delicate where he held onto Harry.
“You’ve come a long way for a ring, love,” Harry murmured, looking up at the Prince through his eyelashes, relishing every reaction he got; his eyes flashing in anger, the blade digging further into his skin. Harry pinched his waist, just to see what would happen. His grin brightened as the Prince leant further into him.
“I didn’t come for the ring,” the Prince spat, looking like he wanted nothing more than to slit Harry’s throat.
“Another kiss then?” Harry asked cheekily, cocking his head to the side and licking his lips. He didn’t miss the way the Prince’s eyes flicked downwards, following the motion.
“Harry, my boy! You seem to be in quite the predicament!”
Harry closed his eyes, groaning, clenching his jaw in annoyance.
Of course Dumbledore would ruin the best moment of his life.
“I’m busy old man!” he called, opening his eyes again. “You can just fuck off.”
Tom’s eyebrows raised, a faint look of amusement passing over him. Harry smiled at him, rolling his eyes, as if they were sharing a funny joke.
“Can I buy you a drink?” Harry asked, turning his full attention back to Tom, hoping he was coming off as charming.
Tom scoffed. “You realise I’m going to kill you?” He made the sentiment clear by digging the blade further into Harry’s throat.
Harry sighed before flipping their positions in a swift movement. The Prince’s eyes were wide as he was pressed into the bar. He attempted to fight back immediately but Harry only pressed his own knife into his throat, draping himself over the Prince in a way that was anything but appropriate.
“You know darlin’, it’s not that easy to kill me, a fair few people have had a go at it,” he said, smiling down at the Prince. Harry leant back, keeping the dagger in place, and took Tom’s left hand in his. He smiled, warmth blossoming in his chest. “My needle,” he murmured, passing a thumb over the thin band.
The Prince hung his head back, baring his throat, and snatched his hand back. “I hate you,” he said through clenched teeth.

808s & heartbreak | chapter one
Tumblr media
as newly minted staff producer at bighit, you are lucky for the opportunity but even luckier when you catch the artistic (and otherwise) attention of one of its most formidable artists. however, a past you’ve condemned to remain as such has threatened to drag you back out to sea.
pairing: min yoongi x reader genre: idolverse warnings: angst, some fluff, possible adult content in future chapters words:  10,760 author’s note: remember, side a is fic feels, side b is songs mentioned or song inspiration. this was a long time coming and eventually i’ll put a link out to a full spotify playlist. would love feedback, thoughts, asks, etc. i’m really soft for (1) min yoongi. thank u for coming to my fic and my ted talk.

It was an honest mistake.
That’s what they said anyway. But it wasn't really that honest.
After you had submitted all of your materials, you found the detail that probably should have stopped you from submitting. ‘Male. Born 1998 and after.’ Some could claim that you saw it, didn’t care, and submitted anyways. But you submitted under the songwriting category and your singing of the song wasn’t a red flag at all. Could have been your sister, a friend, anyone.
But it was you.
And when you showed up to your second round audition with nothing but a microphone, your looper, and a cascade of messy hair under a beanie--your best one you would say, you weren’t an animal--you were looked at in confusion. Everyone was too shocked to say anything as you quickly got into your song, clearly intrigued with your set up. Laying down a few quick vocal beats and harmonies over one another, you launched into the lyrics. Music was usually the one thing that didn’t provoke a stream of anxiety and apprehension.
It wasn’t hard for you to get taken away by your own music. It was only a verse and a hook but you made it feel like it lasted forever. At least, it had felt like that long to you.
‘Magical mystery nights, fairy lights. You looked at me like I was one of the sights. I always think of your soju-breath that night, And how you said our love was worth the fight.’
It was easy to pour the emotion into the song as you sang, even though you’d rather die than consider yourself a performer. Singing one of your more intimate, personal original songs was always a risk but hopefully it was one that would pay off. The moment made you think of a quote your sister would often recite to you, one by Laurel Thatcher Ulrich.
“Well-behaved women rarely make history.”
You always took that quote to mean in a male dominated industry, playing it safe would never get you noticed. This moment in time could either change your life or set you back a few steps. When you finished, you used your toe to turn down the sound and turn off the looper. You couldn’t hear anything but your own breath among the silence. You were sure they would dismiss you because you were a girl and not a boy. It was a blessing and a curse that your parents gave you a unisex name.
An older man with glasses sat at the table next to a younger woman probably in her late thirties. They looked at you in silence while glancing down at the papers in front of them.
“Y/L/N Y/F/N,” the man says with a chuckle, peering over his glasses at page, presumably with your submitted information on it.
He said something into the woman next to him’s ear and she nodded before taking a few notes in her own notebook. You couldn’t hear what they said but you know what was coming. You held the microphone that connected to your looper tightly in your hand.
You took the risk...but it wasn’t paying off.
“I take it that it was you singing on your first audition tape, then?” he asked. You looked for a sign that didn’t lead to disappointment but you couldn’t read his face. You knew exactly what he was digging for.
“Yes, it was,” you said simply and honestly. You could feel yourself pressing the balls of your feet into the wooden floor below you. Another rejection under your belt, you could feel it coming. You’d auditioned for one or two other small companies, ones that were geared more towards hip hop but they went in other directions. BigHit was the only other company you really wanted to work with. You could feel your eyes prickle at the nervous anticipation buzzing through you right now
“You know the audition notice said we were looking for males, right?” he asked, the woman next to him interlocking her fingers in front of her on the table. Your hand started to sweat around the microphone while your your free hand reached up to untangle a knot at the ends of your long hair.
“I did...after it was too late,” you said, laughing at yourself, trying to smooth over the situation, “I’m obviously not very good at reading directions.” It was true. The moment you pressed send, you then realized they were only looking for males. They were obviously looking for more guys for whatever group they were trying to put together. You’d heard they were holding additional auditions just in case, even though they already had a lineup they were working with. You were in fact not male and you were born in 1996, two years old than what they were looking for. You couldn’t stand the silence from both of them, so you continued against your mind’s better judgment. “I didn’t expect to even hear back,” you said, “So when I did...I thought, why not?”
“Hmmm,” was all the man said. It was the woman’s turn to whisper something to the older man. He sighed and shuffled all his papers together.
“Despite the minor deceit, it’s obviously that you are talented. We’d love to have you meet with some of our producers and if that goes well, possibly the talent we think you’d be a great fit working with,” he said. You didn’t know if you heard had correctly but when the woman smiled at you, your stomached settled slightly and you couldn’t help but smile.
“Thank you. Thank you so much!” you say, bowing to both the man and woman.
“We will email you to set up a meeting with part of our producer team. It was really refreshing to see a talented young woman such as yourself come in,” the woman said, speaking for the first time. You couldn’t help but smile back at her. There was something in the woman’s eye that you could grasp. Pride? A common acknowledgment between women in the music industry?
You hoped it was all the above.
Tumblr media
Your meeting with the producing team happened two weeks later. It was at 4pm on a Tuesday and you had loaded up as USB drive, your iPad, your laptop with everything you could think of bringing. You overprepared, putting all of your devices into your bulky, plain backpack. You had the ugly thing since high school and couldn’t bear to part with it. It probably had a few cough drops at the bottom from your last year of high school, maybe a granola bar hidden one of the million of pockets. But that was fine because you had everything you needed. Hopefully you’d be able to provide that to the people you’d be meeting with.
Before leaving your apartment, you looked in the mirror. You wore a royal blue sweatshirt, dark black jeans, some sleek boots with cutouts on the side. With your signature beanie--the one you wore to your audition--you knew that this was as good as you were going to get. You weren’t very girly and sometimes, you felt self-conscious about it. But you felt at your most comfortable and at ease when you were in jeans and a crew neck sweatshirt. You felt cozy and you could feel your anxiety quickly slipping away. But you hated to admit that you didn’t even own a dress. You thought to yourself, though, because wasn’t like you were going to wear one or a suit of any kind to this meeting. You were meeting with music producers, for God’s sake. You still wanted to impress, though. This could be your chance to work with one of the most buzzed about music companies in the country, one that you actually admired.
And you were lucky when they didn’t kick you out at the audition for not reading directions.
You easily arrived at the Big Hit offices. When you checked in, you were given a water bottle and asked to wait. Two minutes past four, you were ushered into a conference room with six people already sitting at a sleek, modern conference table. Everyone at the table got up to shake your hand and you reciprocated, bowing in respect as you did so. After taking a seat, the woman who was in your audition came in, shut the door, and sat at the head of the table. Everyone quickly settled in for the meeting.
“Everyone, this is Y/L/N Y/F/N, the one we found through the open audition,” the woman said, smiling. A bit of excitement shifted through the group. You smiled at the group, gripping the hem of your sweatshirt tightly, needing something to hold on to in order to not just internally combust.
“Oh she’s the one that couldn’t read the audition notice?” one of the producers asks. He looks nice enough, wears glasses, and looks like he hasn’t ever worn a suit in his entire life. You try not to look embarrassed but it’s hard not to when a handful of the other producers laugh.
“Yes, she is.” the woman says, “but it’s hard to ignore talent. I know some of you have seen the tape but we’ll play it again as a quick refresher.” You wait until the lights go out and the video is pulled up to hide your face in your fingers. You hated watching yourself on tape and listening to your singing voice. The tape started up, showing you almost tripping over the cord of your looper mic.
You heard the lyrics come through the conference room speakers and you wanted to disappear. Seeing other people react to a video of you projected onto a big screen, singing a rather personal song, made your stomach clench and the breath catch in your throat. You’d hoped that someone would whisper or talk to the person next to them while the video was playing to ease the tension in your head and in your heart but everyone remained silent until the lights came back up.
“Wow,” said a voice. You saw a woman, probably the only other female producer at Big Hit. The one who went by ADORA. She definitely had been one of your inspirations to audition. The only female staff producer at Big Hit.
All  the producers were starting to talk amongst one another, and you couldn’t help but feel a bit of sweat appearing. You looked from the female executive from your audition to the rest of the group, letting your eyes wander around the room, too embarrassed to keep your vision in one place. Why were you like this? Couldn’t even confidently take a compliment.
“I’m glad that you all could meet with Y/N today. I wanted to get everyone together to get to know her. I also asked her to bring some of her other work. I know we are about to gear up on some big projects and I thought she might be a good addition to the production team,” she continued.
A tall man sitting towards the middle raised his hand to speak, “Why don’t you play some of your work. Maybe the full length version from your audition song and maybe one of your favorites?”
“Sure,” you said, trying not to fumble with the backpack between your legs. You push yourself out to get into the bag. You grabbed your laptop, trying not to make a bunch of noise while doing so but failing, and pulled up the full length file of your audition song. Testing the volume, it’s definitely loud enough for all the producers in the room to hear it. With a quick breath, you press play. While your looper played a part in the recording, there are other instruments--guitar and piano specifically--and all the producers at the table quiet to listen.
It’s the longest two and a half minutes of your life as they listen. Your fingers drum against your thighs as the song soars to it’s climax, your nails digging a bit into them as well, palms sweaty. This song is is raw for you but that’s something you don’t want to let on.
It ends and everyone sounds and looks pleased as you look around.
It was then that you realized there was someone sitting in an armchair on the far side of the room. Arms folded over one another, bucket hat low over their eyes. But your attention is pulled away when someone else at the table speaks up.
The producer eagerly says, “What else do you have?”
You quickly sift through your media player list before stopping on a song titled “It Carries.” Your heart stops for a moment. This song is one of your favorites but it also is a painful reminder. Not just about a past you’d like to forget but a humiliation that your best friend Seoyun would tell you was not your fault. You didn’t realize that you just sat there quietly for a beat too long.
“Y/N?” the lady executive asks.
“Sorry,” you say quickly, shaking it off, “Was stuck between two…Hm, this one is called ‘It Carries.’ I actually wrote it for...an old friend. He’s the one rapping, but I wrote everything.”
Throwing your nerves into the wind, you press play, letting the 808-filled beat fill the conference room. Again the room goes silent, that that makes you nervous. Beginning vocals finish and the rap begins, you notice the person in the back of the room lean forward, elbows on their knees. It doesn’t help that you can’t see their face. They’re probably another one of the producers.
The party that wrenches your heart the most comes up and you have to remind yourself to breathe. You take a deep breath but it’s shakier than you were planning on it to be.
‘But you say “it’s fine, it’s fine, it’s fine Words aren’t always necessary” My heart squeezes in love and in thanks And I don’t feel as broken as before’
As it finishes, you let out a breath you didn’t realize that you were holding. There is some applause but you aren’t really paying attention. The tall producer raises his hand to quiet everyone again. “That was really amazing. You wrote those raps?” he asked.
“Yes... I wrote them,” you said, which was all you could manage. Your nerves were still bubbling.
“The flow is amazing. The rapping is good but the lyrics…” he trailed off.
“The rapper had an exceptional songwriter to help him out,” said a deep, slightly scratchy voice. It came from the person in the back, the one whose face you couldn’t see in the dimmed light of the conference room. You looked as closely from where you sat and when he raised his head, you tried not outwardly gasp.
Your complimenter was none other than Min Yoongi, Suga of BTS, one of the most well-known and spoken-about young producers in the industry. But...why was he sulking in the back of a preliminary producer meeting? Didn’t he have songs to write, press to do, anything else but sit in on your meeting? Why in the heck was he here? And he listened to some rather personal songs of yours too. Your face had never felt so hot.
“You’re absolutely right,” the female executive said, making no comment as to why the idol was sitting in the back of this meeting.
The tall producer came back around. “You’ve got an interesting point of view and I’d love to see what you can do. I work with BTS but am also overseeing the new boy group who are working towards their debut.”
You perked up a bit, your attention finally at least partly restored after having been trying really hard not to start at the international superstar just sulking in the corner of the room.
“Really?” you asked, a smile forming on your lips, your eyes moving to bulge just slightly out of your head. Was this all really happening?
“Really,” he said, smiling, “You won’t be exclusive to any team but I think you’d be a great use to many of the projects currently in the words at BigHit.” Everyone looked to be in agreement but your eyes couldn’t help but go back to Min Yoongi in the back. His arms still crossed, he didn’t have much of a reaction...despite what he said to you earlier; to be more specific, what he said about you.
The meeting started to die down and everyone was getting out of their chairs and talking. You took a sip out of your water bottle as two of the younger producers--whose names you recognized from the long list of BTS credits--included you into conversation, asking you about your influences. The rest of the time was spent talking to the two of them, as well as the other producers.
They both gave you their numbers as they mentioned they’d also be working on most of the current projects in production and that you’d be spending a lot of time together so getting to know one another would be beneficial. You wholeheartedly agreed and found them easy to talk to, quickly relaxing into the conversation. Getting to know them was like some sort of...weird reality.
You felt as if you might have to pinch yourself any second.
You were talking to one of the younger producers when they beckoned someone over. You looked over your shoulder to see Suga of BTS--Min Yoongi, if you were to be more correct in this situation--holding a soda can between his fingers. You hadn’t seen him talk to anyone until now besides the female executive from earlier.
“Hey, hyung,” one of the guys said to him, “Ready to go back to the studio?”
He turned his gaze from his drink to the producer and you could finally really see his face, even if it was still partly hidden under his hat. The first thing that definitely struck you was his eyes. Dark and intense, not that you didn’t already know that. You’d seen pictures of him, seen his performances at all the music award and variety shows. But cameras and televisions rarely captured the true reality. They were truly stunning.
It was then. It was then that it really hit you that Min Yoongi was standing a mere four feet away from you. He was perhaps one of the biggest inspirations for auditioning for Big Hit in the first place. You never really considered yourself ARMY but you respected the group and their interest in being involved in the creation of their work. Especially the rap line as they also were considered the main contributors. You admired what they and BigHit doing, what they stood for.
And you had a feeling that you were going to get to be part of it.
You tried not to visibly vibrate with excitement right in front of him. Why would you be calm and collected around him? You’d never met any idols or famous actors, singers, etc. in your entire life. It was jarring to realize that he was just hanging out in the back of the conference room while you showed some of your personal work with the producing team. You rarely shared your music with your family, let alone your friends. Seoyun, was the only one who could pry the work out of you...but usually under force or threat.
But she of all people knew what these two songs meant to you. And having a famous idol hear your work before you even knew he was in the room...it scattered your brain just a bit. You still kind of felt like an idiot, though.
“Yeah, sure,” Yoongi said in a low and tired-sounding timbre.
Part of you was curious as to what they are working on and part of you kind of wanted to ask if you can tag along. But the realist side of you laughed at the idea. You haven’t been in the building more than two hours and you were already itching to know more, do more, see more. But you keep quiet because you knew it was just your excitement. Nothing like this had ever happened in your life and you’re still not even sure if it’s even real. You could wake up at any moment. It’s a dream, right?, you keep asking yourself.
It’s not. It’s the start of the rest of your life.
“Cool,” the other producer said, shoving their hands into their pockets. The water bottled crinkled a little in your hands. “It was really great meeting you, Y/N. Work calls but we’ll see you soon, yeah? I think the plan is to get into get things set up in the next week,” he continued.
“Sounds great,” you replied genuinely. The two producers turned towards Yoongi and the three of them started to leave but before they could make head way out of the conference room, the man in question turned back towards you with a hand raised in a non-moving wave.
“See you around,” he said.
“You too,” you managed to respond, returning the small wave but dropping that hand to wrap around your other wrist in front of you. You couldn’t help the smile that appeared on your face. Your first two words to Min Yoongi. They could have been worse...or more embarrassing.
Seriously, you needed someone to slap you back to reality.
He turned around and left with the two producers. One was Shin Donghyuk--also known as Surpeme Boi--and the other was Kim Yunseo, a newer addition to the BigHit team, but you had been familiar with some of his independent work before he joined. They were going to be heavily involved in the work for the upcoming projects, both BTS’ comeback and the new boy group debut.
Tossing your finished water bottle in the appropriate bin, the female executive who rooted for you, Lee Hayoon, approached you. She had a stern yet friendly smile as she came towards you, with the producer known as ADORA in tow.
“I hope you are enjoying yourself. I see you you already met Donghyuk-ssi and Yunseo-ssi. That’s great because you’ll be working with them a lot,” she said, “We considered hiring a new slew of producers for the new group but Donghyuk insisted on working both albums. Yunseo is, after you, the newest producer. Glad to have you on the team, Y/N.”
The woman you knew to be known as ADORA smiled. “My name is Moon Eun-hye,” she said, making a small bow, “It’s so nice to have another woman on the team finally. Your work is stunning for how young you are.” You beam just a bit as you really respect her work as ADORA.
“Thank you so much. I really admired your work on the last album,” you said returning the bow, trying not to gush. Eun-hye seemed so low-key and dresses casually, much like how you usually dress. What you were currently wearing was you dressing up to impress. This girl made sweats and a ripped t-shirt look cool.
“Aw, thanks,” she said, “Seriously...I can’t wait to work with you. Us girls definitely have to stick together.” She gave you her number and the three of you talked about what was next. Hayoon said that you’d be looped in with the studio/recording coordinator to get updated on the current schedule. They’d be doing a few team dinners for the various projects that were coming up, coinciding with whatever you got placed on. Whether it was primarily the BTS comeback or the boy group debut. Hayoon assured that you’d have time to learn about the group once and if you started working with them, if that was the decision that would go first.
The get together finally died down and you said your goodbyes, only a few hours later getting various calendar invites. You’d be officially signing your contract the next time you came to BigHit. You were having your brother-in-law--a lawyer--look it over before you signed.
Those technicalities and small things were the last things on your mind. You were making your dreams come true and you were doing it on your own.
You also couldn’t wait to tell the people who loved and supported you the most.
Tumblr media
An important event was coming up so the dance, studio, and overall rehearsal schedule was in full swing. Not only did the guys have to share a company with a new group, the company was flocking with new people and faces due to obvious and needed expansion. While they all thought that they knew everyone, there was always someone new popping out from the woodwork.
“Hey, hyung,” Jimin shouted over towards Namjoon while sitting on the floor stretching, “Did you hear about the new producer they just hired?” Both Jimin and Jungkook were fanned out on the floor, getting ready for a dance practice. Hoseok was already in front of the mirror, lightly going through the steps as usual.
“I did,” Namjoon said, rubbing the back of his neck, “I don’t know anything other than that the producer is a girl.”
Jimin and Jungkook both looked at one another. Eun-hye-noona was the only other female producer so this was an interesting development. You’d be the second female staff producer so of course you were of interest. The way you got hired, too, was definitely something that triggered a lot of attention as well.
“What’s going on?” Taehyung asked as he walked over and sat down to join the rest of the youngers.
“The new producer they just hired is a girl,” Jungkook said excitedly. The four of them were talking amongst themselves while Hoseok was still working in front of the mirror, Jin was sitting on a rolling chair playing a game on his phone and Yoongi was getting some water. Shaken from his thoughts, he heard Jimin over his shoulder.
“Yoongi-hyung, do you know anything about the new girl producer?” Jimin asked, Jungkook and Taehyung hanging onto the question.
“She’s good,” he said casually, turning back to his water bottle. Exclamations erupted.
“You heard her work????” Taehyung asked, breaking the commotion.
Yoongi put the bottle down, turned around, and walked over to the four guys. They were all awash with excitement and moved in towards him as well.
“What do you mean?” Jungkook asked. Jimin followed, leaning his hands and arms over Jungkook’s shoulder in expectation.
“I was at the studio and Hayoon-noona asked me to sit in on a meeting,” Yoongi said, crossing his arms, looking up at towards the brim of the baseball cap on his head.
“So, she’s actually good?” Namjoon asked, looking Yoongi over in question, “I’m surprised they even met with her a second time after all that confusion.”
Yoongi whipped out his phone, deciding to pull up the song he asked Hayoon to send over to him. “She brought a looper in with her for her audition. You can’t really ignore that. It’s creative”
Namjoon’s eyes widened. “Wow, that’s actually really cool,” he said, watching Yoongi pull up the song. Namjoon called out for Jin and Hobi to come over.
“I asked Hayoon-noona to send me the song she played for us in the meeting,” Yoongi added, moving to press play.
“What is this-” Jin said before Jimin cut him off with a ‘Shhhh’
A hip hop tone with a bit of electronic and tropical flowed through the horrible iPhone speakers, filling the studio. Hobi and Jungkook immediately started moving their head and shoulders while the others listened intently.
It was the “It Carries” song that you had played the group in your meeting.
The vocals and rap line move seamlessly on top of the melody and production. Namjoon’s chin sits in his hands as he moves it along, deep in though. Yoongi doesn’t move or sway but he’s super intent on listening to the song, something he done a number of times since asking Hayoon-noona to send it to him.
“Who’s rapping?” Jimin asks. By this time, he’s moving his fingers to the beat.
“Don’t know,” Yoongi said, “He’s okay, I guess, but what’s more interesting is that she wrote all the rap and lyrics in addition to producing the song.” Namjoon and Hoseok were intrigued. “She’s only a year older than Kookie,” he said as the song came to its end. Everyone was surprised by that. Once again, they all erupted into conversation.
“Take notes, Kookie,” he said, pocketing his phone and looking pointedly at the maknae, “If you want to continue producing music…”
“Don’t come for me, Yoongi-hyung,” Jungkook said defiantly. The others laughed at the exchange. “Regardless....you seem to know a lot about her,” Jungkook teases. The others join in and it takes Yoongi what’s left of his energy to not say something back.
After practice ended, he ended up spending the majority of the night at the studio after Hoseok and Yunseo left. The three of them were working on a song but Yoongi wanted to to stay behind after they left.
He had been working on some tweaks for a collaboration with a huge western artist but all of a sudden, a thought came to him. A rush of inspiration had led him to his piano and he laid down a melody line. It was one of the first things he was truly proud of and something that wasn’t spurred by necessity. It was something just for him in that moment, something that brought a wide smile to his face as he reached for the soggy iced Americano on his desk.
Maybe it would be something he’d save for the next mixtape. Maybe...just maybe he wouldn’t have to wait that long.

Your family was so proud.
They had been apprehensive of you pursuing music because of the question of stability but in the end, they just wanted you to be happy. You went to university to please them, but majored in music production. They felt more secure in that choice. Sound engineers were always in demand, at least. That’s how they thought anyway. You couldn’t blame them and you did want to make them proud. But there were moments when you were sure that you knew yourself. You knew that you could never do a job that you weren’t passionate about.
You’d always been sensitive and pursuing medicine or an office job...you had a feeling ity would essentially destroy you.
You had lovely friends in university, most of whom you are still close to, but well into your second year, you met and started dating another music production major. Even thinking or saying his name was still painful, though. It had been months since you broke up and you’d begun to heal. Your heart was finally mending and your friends and music were your saving graces. You don’t know where you would be without Seoyun’s pushy behavior or your sister’s quote-laden pep talks over skype or the cave that was your music studio set up in your small studio apartment. The tail end of your relationship had caused a lot of rifts in your heart and life. While you didn’t rearrange your whole life, there were a lot of things you changed after your break up.
After appearing on a famous reality rap show and making it to the end...the funny, charming, aspiring rapper you called your boyfriend and best friend dumped you over text message.
You had relied on your family and friends a lot in the past several months. So seeing you happy about something again made them happy. You really hated being a burden to your friends and family. The idea that they worried so much about you did a number on your anxiety. All you wanted was for your parents and friends to be proud of the artist and person you were. Working for one of the most talked-about music companies in the industry was only something you’d dreamed about. Music had been your life since you were little, ever since you had begged for piano and guitar lessons. Practicing piano for hours a day was a hassle to most of your friends but to you, those lessons were the best part of your week. Guitar quickly became a second love, too.
Before this opportunity, you had seriously considered moving back with your parents, the small cafe job you had up until now barely even helping you make rent. But you knew that you’d soon be getting a paycheck from one of the most profitable companies in music. You deleted that email draft to your landlord, stating that you’d be leaving at the end of your lease.
Things were looking up in more ways than one.
In celebration, your best friend in the world, Park Seoyun, had convinced you to go out the Saturday before your first day officially at BigHit.
She was a social butterfly and had a lot of cool and influential friends. Sometimes you weren’t sure whiy she still kept you around but she did. While she was also the fun friend, she was also the mom friend. Always nagging you and making sure you were taking care of yourself, not just while you were both in university. She actually worked at one of the big companies in a coordinator position and she knew where anyone who was anything would be. Dominoing into tonight, she knew someone who could get the two of you through the VIP entrance to one of the hottest clubs in Seoul.
Clubs were never one of your things but once in a while, letting loose didn’t sound like a horrible idea. However, she’d dressed you up. You weren’t a super fashionable person. You liked a more athletic look in contrast to Seoyun’s sexy, feminine fashion sense. In your signature black, she squeezed you into a short turtleneck bodycon dress and some of her more stable, platformed boots. Heels had always been your enemy and you threw anything that had a stiletto back her way. She had to concede.
As she promised, getting in was a breeze. You were able to slink right in, of course pissing off all the people in the line that wrapped around the block. You couldn’t help but smile a little as the two of you tripped over your own feet into the club.
Your friend insisted on taking a photo before entering the VIP section, where cameras were not allowed. You did your classic peace sign near your face in front of the neon light display. You assesed yourself in a mirror nearby. You looked cute, you guessed. Cute was the most you could muster. Sexy? Don’t even try, you’d tell yourself. Seoyun had a claim on that territory already. But you were fine with being cute. Sexy wasn’t something you actively tried to achieve. After touching up, you two made your way over to the VIP section. Seoyun made flirty small talk with the bouncer and the two of you were in there in seconds.
Yeah, there were definitely celebrities littering the area. Seoyun even walked right up to some actor that you recognized but couldn’t name….and they knew one another. You weren’t surprised as you took the hand the tall, handsome actor offered when greeting you. “Y/L/N, Y/N?”
“Uh, hi. How did you know my name?” you asked., honestly a little incredulous.
“Honestly Y/N, he went to school with us,” she said. Your eyes widened because you didn’t remember him. “It’s fine, you didn’t go out a lot. You may not know him.”
You rolled your eyes at her and apologized to him but you still smile a little because it was true. You had been too busy with your music and...your boyfriend. Maybe if you took your social life a little more seriously while in university, you’d have been friends with the actor too. Seoyun was your first year roommate and despite the two of you being soul twins, you both really were so different. Jisoo had been kind enough to get the three of you drinks so for a moment, he disappeared.
Seoyun stiffened and it caught you off-guard. What was she looking at? “Don’t look over your right shoulder are your new neighbors,” You scrunch your nose in confusion but quickly look, trying to mask it as a scratch.
“I said don’t look!” your friend screamed through her teeth and you quickly whip your head back in her direction in response to her order.
“Calm down,” you said, “Who’s there?” You were surprised any of them were there. They were notoriously absent from the party scene. At least, that’s what Seoyun said. Then again, so were you. At least you had that in common.
“Them. I think all of them,” she said but not sounding so sure, just as the actor--Lee Jisoo, whose name you just remembered--came back with three drinks. You definitely did see that drama with him in it. You had definitely watched the whole thing, too. He smiled at both of you as you clink your glasses together.
“Who’s here?” Jisoo asks after taking a sip. You suddenly feel awkward but Seoyun is quick to gab.
“BTS,” she said. Jisoo looked over and nodded with a thoughtful pout.
“I rarely see them out. Surprised, staff is loosening the reins,” he said. However, it didn’t look like they were being bothered by anyone. It was probably nice for them, you thought, that the could go out and blow off some steam without being harassed once in while.
“It just so happens that Y/N here is getting signed to BigHit,” she says after taking a large gulp of her drink. You gave her a look. Your contract wasn’t even signed yet and you didn’t want anything risking it but you let it go because on the other hand, your socially connected best friend was proud as hell of you.
“I’ll be working on various projects as a producer,” you say, keeping it that, just in case. You didn’t want anything to harm the signing of your contract. But you were proud. You were very excited. Jisoo congratulated you, said that he knew a few of the boys, and then laughed at something else Seoyun said. Sometimes you were jealous of her since she had such an easy way with people. You were the opposite most of the time. You were really shy until you eased yourself into the situation and got more comfortable. You had never been the type to just go up to people you didn’t know but you adapted quickly once you slotted in and often fed off the energy of others.
Continuing to talk, the three of you had managed to shift your standing positions so that the group was now at the edge of your peripheral. You didn’t want to go over and disturb them. Besides, you had only ever been introduced to Yoongi and that was only for a millisecond. You couldn’t even see Yoongi at the moment but what if he was there and he saw you and you saw him and he thought it was rude that you didn’t come over? You were used to overthinking things so you were hoping that even the smallest of sips would help ease the anxiety settling into the pit of your stomach like squishy rocks.
Why were you like this? Ugh.
You continued to flit in and out of the conversation with Seoyun and Jisoo and the feeling of them within your peripheral. Something unexpected happened instead. Two of members approached the three of you. Mid-sip you tried not to choke on the large gulp you just took.
“It’s Y/L/N, Y/N, right?” says the shorter of the two who approached. You were almost 100% certain that was Kim Taehyung. A large, wide smile and impeccable style. The taller, you knew, was Kim Namjoon, the leader of the group. You knew that for sure. But wait a minute, how---? How did they knew you were you? You looked around for a moment but still didn’t see Yoongi.
“Yes,” you said, your glass still held tightly between your fingers, “Hi.” You were glad that you managed at least those two words. He smiled at you and there was something about him that eased whatever nerves you had before. It was true. He didn’t look human in real life. You smile and make yourself take a deep breath. You’d likely be working with the group soon on their upcoming album. In a way, they were kind of your co-workers? Being nervous around them wasn’t going to make anything easier.
“It’s nice to actually meet you. We’ve heard a bit about you,” Namjoon chimes in, shaking your hand, followed by Tae. The two of them also introduce themselves to Seoyun and Jisoo, though Taehyung knew Jisoo as an acquaintance through mutual friends. The five of you fell into conversation and it wasn’t long before Jimin came and joined, introducing himself to you and your group.
“We loved your song, by the way,” Jimin said enthusiastically, “That hook…” Your eyes widened a little as you subconsciously pulled your lips in between your teeth, a small smile tearing at the corners. Some of the most celebrated artists in the industry loved your work. Sometimes, this kind of validation could be enough to drag you out of your shy comfort zone.
“Oh, thank you so much,” you said, “Which song?” You were doing all you could to not visibly shake. Park Jimin had the voice of an angel and if you were lucky enough to keep impressing BigHit, he might end up singing your work.
“I think it was “It Carries”?” Jimin said, calling over your shoulder, “Yoongi-hyung, Y/N’s song you played for us...it was “It Carries,” right?” You turned over your shoulder a little too quickly, hitting Jisoo in the face with your hair. You muttered a quick sorry to him. They’d passed around your song. God, your face couldn’t be any warmer, right?
“Yeah,” he said, expressionless, holding three drinks, “that’s the one.” You forced yourself to breathe again. That song had been hard enough to show to the group as it was personal. The fact that the whole group had heard it caused your heart to palpitate. You knew that Hayoon had a copy of it but the idea that someone you didn’t know might have it on their computer or on their phone or in their texts...it was still a little unnerving. A compliment, likely, but still unnerving.
Yoongi moved to hand the three of his group members drinks, which they accepted. “Nice to see you again,” he said to you, shaking his bangs out of his face. There were his eyes again. Soft despite his monotone. He sounded sincere but not overzealous or as if he was saying it to be polite. He was dressed nicely in a simple black blazer, black t-shirt and black jeans. Simple. Unlike what they usually wore for press, concerts, etc.
“You too,” you say in response, feeling yourself ease a little, taking another sip. He seemed perfectly relaxed, as if playing your song for everyone was just the most casual thing he could do...while across from him, your stomach was in knots. However, part of you felt at ease because he took it so casually, as if this whole thing wasn’t changing your life. As if all of this was natural. It was a paradox you couldn’t quite keep away from.
Seoyun who was having a good time, raised her glass. “Just want to make a quick toast to Y/N’s first day on Monday. I have a very hard-working, tireless, and multi-talented best friend,” she said, smiling and leaning into Jisoo just a bit. Your best friend was sweet but a bit of a lightweight, “Cheers to Y/N!!!” Everyone in the circle smiled and joined in.
The rest of the night flew by in a fun frenzy and the three of you ended up joining the group at their booth. You met Hoseok, Jin, and Jungkook shortly after, the three of them working their way through the fancy handle of Grey Goose vodka among their assorted bottle service. Hoseok was definitely the most tipsy and when a song he loved came on, he even pulled Seoyun and yourself in to dance. He was twirling you both around playfully and jokingly, but still managing to dance with more grace than anyone you personally knew.
When Hoseok released the two of you for a break, you found yourself deep in conversation with Namjoon and Yoongi while Seoyun managed to find herself flirting with both Jin and Jisoo. Namjoon and Yoongi both seemed interested in your music taste. They asked you about your musical influences and you found it really nice that they were just as nerdy about music as you were. For a moment, you could have gone to high school with them, as if they might have been in orchestra with you or jazz band.
“Epik High, Missy Elliott, Lady Sovereign, Beyoncé, CL....hands down of all time,” you said and as you took another sip of your drink, it finally made that awful slurping noise. You’d hit ice. Both Yoongi and Namjoon enthusiastically said that Epik High was one of their biggest inspirations to be rappers.
“Do you rap?” Namjoon asked and you couldn’t help be shake your head no. Performing was not in your wheelhouse. God, your audition was nerve wracking enough. Performing in front of hundreds of people? No thank you.
“No, not at all,” you said, “But I like to write them.”
“Like your song,” Yoongi said,, “That was a beautiful rap. You definitely could, if you wanted to.” You softened at the words coming out of his mouth and then some more when Namjoon agreed.
“Yu obviously have amazing musicality. Just like this one here,” Namjoon said, motioning at Yoongi. Yoongi just raised his shoulders the tiniest bit in response. An acknowledgment rather than an agreement.
Namjoon then asked you what you were currently listening to but you were interrupted for a second as Yoongi took the drink from you, leaning down towards the large low table, presumably to top you off.
You quickly snapped back to what Namjoon was saying. “Oh, lately I’ve been listening to WOODZ, Jvcki Wai, and I love Robyn’s newest album,” you say.
“I like Jvcki’s lyrics. Very aggressive flow, too,” Namjoon says enthusiastically and you nod in agreement.
“She doesn’t take prisoners. I think what she is doing is really cool,” you add, “Especially as a woman in hip hop.” You think of her song ‘Anti-’ All your friends really liked music but you were so excited to be working at a company where everyone had the same passion.
“People think she uses a lot of autotune but that’s actually usually just her voice,” you say with a laugh. Both Namjoon and Yoongi smile at your comment, the second handing you a newly made drink.
“Thanks,” you say, taking the tumbler from his hands. A small smile appeared on Yoongi’s lips as he finished making himself another drink. “Lady Sovereign, though?” he asked and you know he’s making fun of you.
“What can I say? My ten year old self was obsessed,” you say, smiling and thinking about the time you dressed up as her for a costume party in elementary school. The few small braids, the side ponytail, and tracksuit were still a look. Taking another gulp of your drink, you were trying to remember which number you were on. You could feel the alcohol in your cheeks at this point. You were tall for a girl and usually you weren’t much of a lightweight. You could handle your liquor but you’d always feel it in your face two drinks in. The feeling was comfortable but the thought of looking drunker than you were was not.
“I was curious, though,” Namjoon said all of a sudden, “Who was the rapper on your track?” You froze for a second for responding just a little too quickly. “An old friend,” you said, perhaps a little colder than you meant. You were trying to convince yourself that your reaction was due to the alcohol, but your face gave away everything.
“Oh, he sounds kind of familiar. That’s the only reason I ask,” Namjoon said and if he caught on to your demeanor change, he didn’t let on. It wouldn’t be surprising if Namjoon had heard of your boyfriend. He did win a huge rap reality show.
As you took another sip, Seoyun came over, dragging Jisoo and Jin with her. Jin was very drunk and leaning onto Seoyun, earning him an annoyed look from Jisoo. “So, I think the plan is for us to ditch and go get yangnyeom tongdak in say...five minutes?” he said, looking at his watch, a fancy digital contraption that flashed 1:00 AM. Wow, you didn’t realize how much time flew by.
Yoongi was the first to reply, as if relieved. “Sounds great to me,” he said, taking the happiest sip of alcohol you thought you’d ever seen. He then drained the whole thing, practically slamming it onto the table, and wiped his mouth with the side of thumb. “Ready!!” He exclaimed, smile on his face. You looked at him in the eye and there was a silent agreement when both of your eyes met.
Food > Clubbing.
Jin, despite how drunk he was, managed to coral all seven boys plus the three of you into the van waiting for you at the back of the club. Everyone toppled in with Seoyun strung out across Jisoo, Jin, and Jungkook in the back. Yoongi shuffled in, helping you up, Taehyung, Hoseok, and Jimin pulling in the rear. The four of them squeezed together and grabbed you to lay out similarly to Seoyun. Taehyung and Hoseok held onto your torso while your head ended up awkwardly pressed against Yoongi’s armpit. You laughed as they hoisted you up, making sure you were comfortable.
The buzz was hanging high in your head and you could hear Seoyun, Hoseok, and Jungkook singing to “thank u, next” as it started on the van speakers. You didn’t sing but every time “next” was said, you punched the air above you with your palms. Minutes and several songs later, the van stopped and both Seoyun and you were hoisted out of the car. Yoongi and Hoseok gave you a hand out, and then lead you through the dark back entrance of the chicken place. All of you stumbled into a large room in the back, not completely closed off from the main restaurant but private enough where no one would know they were back there unless they went looking.
Sliding along the modern wooden bench in your dress proved difficult, Seoyun and Jisoo fumbling in next to you while Yoongi slid his legs through the opening between the table and bench, managing it without making too much of a ruckus. Jin and Yoongi ended up across from one another, both excitedly together. They ordered what seems like a feast for 25 people--not the ten actually there--and as they went through a list that included sweet and spicy chicken, honey garlic chicken, bulgogi flavored chicken, french fries, pickled raddish, and tteokbokki, you finally hear your stomach growling. It didn’t evade Yoongi and Jin’s ears. “Wow that was loud,” you say, trying to laugh it off, a little too drunk to be completely embarrassed. Jin immediately said to their waitress to make it fast as “the lady is hungry.”
Beer and soju arrive and despite the fact you don’t think you can fit any more alcohol in your body. Jin and Jimin challenge everyone to shots of soju and you managed to find more space in your stomach. Not the heaviest of drinkers, you quickly get more comfortable in your surroundings and you finally get the up the courage to pry. You turn to Yoongi and straight up ask him, “What were you working on with Donghyuk-sunbae and Yunseo-sunbae?” Yoongi finished his shot of soju, putting the glass back down on the table with a loud click, then crossed his arms on the ledge of the table.
“Group number for the new album,” he answered, his voice low and a bit slurred, “Trying to decide if we should do something nostalgic or something different. The concept is a lot...dirtier this time? I guess that’s the best way to describe it?” You mimic his arm position without realizing it, leaning onto the edge of the table in front of you. “Why not both?”
Your question makes him laugh. “How would we do that?” he asked, split between confused and curious. You could feel the gears in your brain start to turn. Figuring out the feel of songs you wanted to work on was one of the best parts in your opinion; thinking about what you wanted to convey was a rush. You had an idea of what you were trying to say but fuck it if he laughed it.
“Just think about it, okay,” you say, weirdly proud of yourself, “Do You Think It Makes Sense? meets ‘Tear.’ Maybe really bring out that R&B feel. Hmmmm...there is this really good sample from ‘Gossip Fools’ by Missy Elliott featuring Ludacris, actually.”
“You really dug into the library on that first song,” he said with a smirk. You can’t help but smile. It was true and you had done some refreshing on the BTS library in the last few weeks. Of course, you’d always been familiar with them but the song was a few years old. He looked at you for a moment, contemplating something. It wasn’t a lie that he made you nervous, but the alcohol was helping….for the both of you apparently. “Play the sample,” he said, looking pointedly at your phone.
“What?” you ask, as in...really, dude? But you’re reaching for you phone. You pull up your library and he takes his phone from you and clips the song, which is now playing on full volume. A few of the guys stop talking and look over. Immediately Hoseok starts moving to it and shouts, “MIIIIIIISSSY!!!”
“But slowed down a bit, I think?” you added, and you look at Yoongi’s face and a few gears of his appear to be turning. He turns down the speed to 0.75 instead of normal. Soon enough, they all seem interested in what’s going on. “Definitely more dirty if you slow it down,” you say, without really thinking what you’re saying and a little louder than you mean to.
The guys burst into laughter and it takes everything in you to not just sink into a puddle beneath the table. You’re could feel all  the blood rush to your face. “Just an idea,” you say smally, putting your arms back in your lap. Hoseok starts rapping along to it and after a moment, you can’t help but lightly join. You loved Missy.
Everyone eventually went back to their conversations while Yoongi and you ended up pouring over your music library, smirking at a few embarrassing entries. He even convinced you to play some some random things you’d been working on, including a few piano ramblings. You also mentioned that you also had played guitar since childhood. Piano was your favorite though, you admitted, and he smiled warmly at that and agreed. It was a little off-putting, his smile. It didn’t fit his preapproved aura but it looked so nice among his features. After ribbing you for having “The Shape of My Heart” by the Backstreet Boys on your Spotify’s “Most Recent,” you two eventually looked up to see that food had arrived and everyone was eating. The both of you were quick to pile your plates with chicken and tteokbokki.
You’d never met anyone as passionate about music as you and even though you were sure it was the liquid courage talking, you felt comfortable talking to the rapper. Despite what public decreed his personality to be, it didn’t feel like that when the two of you gushed over the use of vintage 808s. With a mouth full of sweet and spicy chicken, no less. Maybe it was because you could relate and not just on a musical level. You weren’t as outgoing as Seoyun, who was currently threatening to throw a rice cake at Jin, her personality counterpart. You felt at home in your own head and maybe that made you shy in regards to others’ standards. But...sometimes it was moments like these that you felt free enough to talk to someone you admired without getting nervous, without letting your nerves completely immobilize your ability to communicate.
Fuck, you ate too quickly. Part of you just wanted to lay down on your own plate, but there you were...taking another bite of rice cake, trying as you might to fit two whole ones in your mouth. After a moment, Yoongi’s low voice and shoulder jolted you out of your food and beer trance. “Yeah?” you said, mouth full of rice cake.
“Would you want to work on something?” he asked, straight-faced.
A chunk of rice cake might just have fallen out of your mouth at his question. You tried not to look too mortified when he couldn’t contain his laughter. God, you were hopeless. “Um, work on something?” you asked, sure that you couldn’t have heard right.
“With me, yeah. No thoughts on what but...even for fun? Just in general?” he said, rubbing the back of his neck with his free, ringed hand, both of which were turning red due to alcohol. Not that you were clued in enough to notice. Your eyes weren’t even focusing anywhere because you might still have been in shock. But you felt the heat in your face and a fluttering in your heart. There was part of you that couldn’t help but stare. This was was more conversation than you would have expected between the two of you.
“Y-Yeah,” you say, scrambling with a napkin to pick up the rice cake that had hit the table in a bright red splat. You wrapped it up and set it to the side. Did you really hear correctly? Did you just say yes, too? Everything was a little buzzy and raw in your head right at that moment. This whole experience...getting hired by BigHit had sent everything into hyperdrive.
Were your dreams really coming true?
“I would love that,” you couldn’t help by say. You went for another rice cake, careful to keep it from dropping from your chopsticks. Stuffing it into your mouth without caring what you looked like, you sighed. Late night drunk eating was the best. “Almost as much as this rice cake,” you add, grabbing another with and sliding the bowl closer to Yoongi, so he didn’t have to reach over.
“I’ll be honest. I’m honored,” he said, smiling, “This place has the best tteokbokki.” He dug in for some as well and the two continued to chat mostly about what you two were listening to at the moment, even joining in with the group on other topics that were a-buzz at the moment. Jungkook even hopped up to take a group photo of everyone and then a long selfie shot of the group. You leaned over the table to get past Seoyun, Yoongi leaning even farther but his face still ended up getting partially cut off by your head.
It was getting really late and while Yoongi told you the guys didn’t have a schedule tomorrow, they all had things that they probably should get done. They insisted on dropping Seoyun, Jisoo, and yourself off at your place before getting on their way. From there, you left Seoyun and Jisoo at the door to go their separate ways as you made your way up to your studio apartment. Your heart was beating really quickly but you weren’t sure if it was from the several flights of stairs you ascended or the adrenaline that was currently keeping you awake.
Everything felt fumbly as you made your way around your apartment to get ready for bed. You could have just passed out cold in your going-out clothes, crossbody still strapped to your body. However, you managed to peel everything off and throw it on the floor before you threw on the PJ’s you laid out on your bed in preparation. Quickly, you could feel a headache trying to form so you grabbed a large bottle of water from your fridge and placed it on your nightstand. You knew that if you chugged a bunch you’d be fine in the morning.  After getting part of your nighttime routine in, you practically swan dived under the covers, and cocooned yourself in the large down comforter.
Maybe all of tonight was a dream and you had just been in your bed for the last several hours. You didn’t fall asleep for at least an hour because you couldn’t help but stare at the ceiling, trying to put all your thoughts together. You were getting to do what you loved for a living. A trailblazing company took a chance on you after you failed to read instructions on a songwriting submission. But...you would wake up the next day to the text Yoongi sent to you so that you would have his number.
Yeah, that wasn’t a dream at all.

YOU [11:36 AM]: ah, i cannot imagine a life where boys fight over me. what’s it like in seoyun world? SEOYUN [11:37]: very funny, y/n. not fighting over me, seokjin’s just very friendly and he was very intoxicated. as i just said, so was i! YOU [11:50 AM]: seriously, though, seoyun! we just nerded out. we were discussing a song he’s currently working on and i played him that missy elliott sample. that song she did with ludacris. SEOYUN [11:51 AM]: let’s just pretend i know what you are talking about. YOU [11:52 AM]: it was fun but we were both really drunk. he asked me if i wanted to work on something with him but i’m just chalking it up to ‘commitments made drunk,’ a common theme among drunk people. SEOYUN [11:55 AM] well, good luck and hopefully he remembers. regardless, i have a very talented best friend and he’d be lucky to work on something with you. :) YOU [11:56 AM]: :blush emoji: sleep tight and let me know if you need me to bring you soup. SEOYUN [11:56 AM]: aweeee. ;;;;;; love you xx

(This is the anon about ur zagreus fic! sorry for sending this as an ask, your submission box is closed as far as i can tell,, either way, enjoy <3)
You’d seen the Prince of the Underworld, for the first time, on the day you set foot here.
Dying was a lot to take in, to no one’s surprise. One moment you were merely falling asleep, the next you were clawing your way to the surface of a crimson river. You were sore all over, legs trembling as you walked. (No, gods, did you even really have legs anymore? Were you walking or floating?) It all went by in a haze. The person (shade, man, god?) listing your cause of death after startling awake, and having you take your place in the line.
Your mind drifting to better times became much more difficult when you’re faced with the near obliterating gaze of Lord Hades, looking straight through you for his judgement. Maybe you wouldn’t be as eager to sink through the floor if he hadn’t shown his displeasure with the person in front of you for an ‘ignorant request’. Was it possible for shades to cry? You supposed you were about to find out.
Then, a flash of red made you jump, cutting in front of you as you were about to take another step forward. You blinked, and there was now a man. His skin gray and hair dark, he had a striking resemblance to Hades on his throne. Even the wreath matched. But his actions couldn’t be more of a stark opposite with the stern god in front of you. He cooed at the dog, the exact words he was saying lost on you, and it leaned toward him. It was such a ridiculous sight, the gigantic Cerberus sticking its tongue out and wagging his tail, craning its head for more scratches underneath its chin, that it broke you from your panic and made you muffle a laugh.
Not even Lord Hades snapping at, what you assume to be, his son to cease bothering the dog, got you nearly as scared again. You never got the chance to, in one way or another, thank him. Despite being dead, you were certain you would’ve never lived it down if you burst into tears at the moment of your judgement. Your sentence was given, and received.
Elysium is beautiful.
It’s a privilege to be here, of course you’re aware. To share these hallowed grounds with the greatest heroes of history, ones you’d only heard wild tales about, and to roam these fields of endless green is a wish for many. The reward you received for a lifetime of servitude as one of Artemis’ hunting attendants, and never falling out of your goddesses' grace while doing so. But, even in a gorgeous place such as this one, there are still things left to mull over. Besides regrets made during your life, you sometimes think back to your first day here, and to the prince that saved you from humiliation, without being aware. You had made your mind up to, if you ever encountered a second time, to pay your dues.
There are few things for the dead to indulge in. Rumours are one of them, especially ones as grand as the supposed escape attempt of the prince, Zagreus. The whispers among the shades spoke of an upcoming battle between him, Theseus and Asterius. You’re sure everyone is welcome to watch as Theseus enjoys fighting in front of as large of an audience as possible. The thought makes you giddy, too. Not only do you get to see the prince again, you can show him your appreciation in such a direct way, too. You’d used flowers for the red of your banner, at first. It took ages and wasn’t bright enough for your liking. With enough travelling through the fields however, you came across more and more puddles of dried blood. Whose it used to be, you don’t know, but you used some. They wouldn’t be needing it anymore, would they? Your clothes were still dyed with flowers, though.
When the rumours turn out true, you’re one of the first in the line. You’d expected most of the visitors to be in support of the minotaur or his friend, but you weren’t anticipating being the sole person cheering for Zagreus. There’s no time to care for it. Your shame died along with you. Either way, you’re much more enthralled by the scene unfolding in front of you. The movements are so quick they’re hard to keep track of, a flurry of attempted hits, the prince dashing around as he shoots a flurry of arrows. (You swear he catches your eyes one, and as selfish as the thought is, you think you made him smile.) A spear pierces his chest, and his body falls to the ground.
He returns, dies, returns, returns and dies. You are there for every battle. At one point, you pick up the habit of waving at him as soon as he enters the battlefield, and he returns the gesture. During the fight, you call out his name, your voice lost in the ocean of cheers. (Once again, it’s a self indulgent thought, but Zagreus always moves towards the part of the arena opposite of you, glancing in what you think might be your general direction.) To soften the ache in your heart every time he is forced to sink to his knees, you observe. He lasts longer every time, gets better at dodging, manages to hit more, and then- No longer is he the one forced to accept his losses. Just like during his fights, it’s impossible to tear your eyes away from him.
“I dedicate this victory to you, my Good Shade!” And yet, it still comes as a surprise. To have him staring up at you, smiling widely, as if you aren’t merely one dead among many, on an entirely different, lower level than his. In your journey to show your appreciation for him, you’ve only gained his in return. (Though you’re certain that this is the most personal interaction you’ll have with him; two very separate existences, only interacting for a moment.) You lean over the railing of the arena, and give a smile of your own.
~~~
some noootes…! like i said this was inspired by your yandere!zagreus post,, i wanted to write a little something from reader’s perspective <3!! i added the attendant of artemis detail out of self indulgence,,, they wouldve been sworn to have no relationships during their life so they might not immediately realise how out of the ordinary zagreus is acting later on :P and them using zagreus’ blood for their banner for him was just ironic to me lmao,, hope u enjoyed it <33!!! thanks for ur writing <3
Hello, your latest greta x alucard fic was really cute! Would you be able to write a part 2 cute moment where they get to hold their little one for the first time? 🥺
Here’s part 1 if you want to read it!
££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££
The anguished pain screams went through the East wing of the castle, anyone within close proximity could hear every curse, every yell and a good curse on Alucard’s name.
The blonde dhampir took each blow with a nod scared that if he spoke up, another threat would be sent his way. His pale hand was being gripped by the screaming, currently in labor, head woman of Danesti now-Belmont.
It was late at night when the contractions started and the brown skinned woman didn’t even make it in time to the bathroom when her water broke.
Greta was calm when her water broke, it was Alucard that acted out of character first. He was quick to find someone in the castle to call up the midwife, Sypha; who was already awake dealing with her own toddler, and of course to help a concerned pregnant Greta to help settle her down on their shared bed.
“Adrian please,” she pleads to the skittish dhampir and squeaked when he took her pregnancy dress off and helped change her into a silk nightgown.
“Adrian-”
“The towels-Where are the towels?!” Alucard questions himself as he skirts around the room for the towels. Greta sighs and puts her hand on her stomach.
“Your father is so crazy, I am not even pushing you out yet and he’s ready to catch you himself.” Greta speaks to her protruding belly.
A knock at their bedroom door perks up the two and Alucard dashes over to it and opens it to reveal the midwife, Merdi and Sypha behind her.
“Lord Tepes, we are here to help with-”
“Yes, yes please come inside, she’s already contracting and I’m sure she is close to ready to push-”
“I am not!” Greta chimes in as both women come to her side and begin to set up for the delivery. Alucard is to her right and Greta points a finger at him, scolding him.
“Stop making such fibs about my current condition, I’m the one having the baby here mister.” She snaps playfully with a smirk. Alucard gives her a quick smile and holds her right hand as another contraction strikes her.
Sypha promised to help with cleaning the baby while Merdi would catch the babe and make sure they were breathing when they left the womb.
“Are you feeling alright, Miss Greta?” Merdi asked and Greta winched a bit when a contraction hit.
“I’m contracting but, they are not that bad, honest-ooohhh!” Greta is quick to cup her stomach as a strong contraction hit her again.
“We should get started, you could already be crowning.” Merdi suggests and her and Sypha help her to stand legs up by her stomach and lift her gown up to her hips.
“She’s not crowning yet but, we should wait a couple of minutes to count her contractions and then we can begin pushing.” Merdi says.
In the next hour or so, Greta had started to crown and thus began the screaming torture that has begun the tale.
“Adrian fucking Tepes, when this is over-ohhh!” She squeezed his hand as tight as she could muster as she pushed.
“I am going to find the sharpest, longest, axe I can find and cut off your fucking penis! You bastard!” Greta screams fire in her eyes.
“Please don’t resort to such violence, beloved. I don’t want our child to be fatherless.” Alucard tried to reason but, the sudden yank of his hair is pulled to the point where his face is looking into her angry ones.
She was sweaty, hair stuck to her forehead and teeth grit to the point they would break under pressure.
“I’ll make you dick less for the rest of your life! If you want more children then you better knock up another bitch, because I’m done!” She yells and Alucard nods fearfully.
“Yes, love I hear you. No more, I swear.”
More screams and curses continued for the next three hours until another scream enters the air; the sound of a baby wailing almost immediately ceased the crude language Greta spewed.
“It’s a boy!” Merdi announced and Alucard felt his heart soar in happiness.
“A boy…” he shuddered in pure joy.
Sypha cleaned the small baby boy in the nearby basin and Merdi dabbed a warm damp cloth over Greta’s brow.
However, Greta let out another cry in pain and the three look to see her stomach still large and protruding. Merdi is quick to get back in between her legs and her eyes widened when another head appeared.
“You are having another baby, Miss Greta! You’re already crowning, you must push again!” Merdi commands.
“Fuckkkkk!!!” Greta cursed and begins squeezing her husband’s hand again.
The next couple of hours of cursing, yelling, and a reach for her hammer promising, to smash Alucard’s head in for doing this to her, the second baby came screaming into the world.
The new parents lie on their sides, each cradling an infant as they spoke quietly.
“I cannot believe that they have all this hair on their head. It’s no wonder my chest was hurting like hell for months.” Greta says quietly as she strokes her daughter’s cheek with her thumb.
In the total of 18 hours, Daniel and Elisabetha were born on September 9th, 1478 in the early mid morning of Fall.
“And of course, they have your hair. I’m so jealous.” Alucard chuckles at his wife and kisses her forehead. Sypha and Merdi helped her clean up and changed her into another night gown also wrapping her hair up in a messy bun.
“They’re beautiful. Just like their mother.” Alucard says, slyly. Greta grins at him and adjusts her hold on Elisabetha.
“He looks just like you when you were a baby, it’s uncanny.” Alucard kissed Daniel’s head and the babe coos in his sleep.
“Shall we put them down now? You need your rest, Greta.” He tells her and Greta brings their daughter closer to her bosom.
“Must we? I want to stay with them a bit longer-”
“You need to sleep, you’ve had a long night.” Alucard slowly rises from their bed and placed Daniel in the bassinet by their bed.
Alucard reached his hands out to take their daughter and Greta placed a long kiss on her forehead and handed her over to her husband.
Alucard is careful to put Elisabetha next to her brother in the crib and pulls the small blanket over them. He kisses both their heads then goes back to join his wife in bed.
Pulling her close, Alucard kisses her lips, holding there to show how much he loved her. Pulling away, he hugs her to his chest and Greta sighs tiredly into his chest.
“I love you.” He hears her muffle.
“I love you too, my wife.”
They are quiet for a couple of moments allowing the serene silence to envelope their tired bodies until Alucard clears his throat.
“So, is it true that we wouldn’t have anymore kids after the twins?” He asked and Greta sighs heavily then laughs.
“Damn it Adrian, the twins were just born yesterday and you’re already thinking of having more babies?” She jokes with him.
“With you,” He cups her chin up to look up at him.
“I will have as many as you want.” He tells her and Greta smiles.
“Well…then I think we should wait until the twins are at least two. At least!” She tells the dhampir who laughs.
“Then I shouldn’t have to wait too long then, remember,” his eyes grow dark with lust as he kisses her collarbone.
“I grew up very, very fast.” He whispers.
Their play was short lived as one of the babies began to wail and the new parents smiled at one another.
“Go for it, Papa. You are on baby duty for the next couple of weeks.” Greta tells him with a laugh then rolls out of his arms to get some much needed sleep. Alucard pinches her clothed ass in retaliation.
A/N: Be warned I’m not an expert writer and mostly just writing this fic down for my own pleasure. This is probably my second-ish published fanfiction and it’s 100% shitty (for me). So please bear with me and I hope that you’ll still find this enjoyable to read. *fingers crossed*
Also, special thanks to my creepy soulsister @negans-attagirl for being an awesome beta reader, lots of love 😘
Part 1 || (Y/N) P.O.V
It had been an hour ago since our truck broke down in the middle of the US borders and now I'm currently sweating like a dog under the desert sun while trying to keep up with the rest of the group that my brother and I came along with.
"(y/n)? Are we there yet? I feel so tired"
My eyes went down to the little boy looking at me with tired eyes while trying his best to continue holding on to the end of my jacket.
"Nope, but don't worry buddy we'll get there soon, just hold on for a bit, okay?" Smiling to him reassuringly.
To be honest, I have no idea how long it will take for us to get there, and I'm beginning to feel worried for my little brother since I know that it wouldn't be long till his lungs decide to work itself up. My brother is suffering from a serious illness called Chronic Bronchitis and that is the main reason why we need to migrate to America. Back home I have an on/off job that can barely feed us, the doctors I can afford for (b/n) aren't that good either and I know that the only way I can help my brother is to cross the border and do everything that’s needed to make him eligible for the treatment. So here we are, illegally crossing...
BANG!
A loud gunshot echoed throughout the desert stopping us from our tracks. I held onto my brother’s hand tightly preparing myself to run when needed. Once our guide Lobo called out to us the next thing I know we were sprinting to the fields.
Minutes of running we finally stopped giving us some time to rest while Lobo and Mechas, another guide of ours, surveys the area for any signs of danger. Looking down at (b/n) I could clearly see that he was trying his best to control his breathing. I quickly reached for his inhaler and gave it to him. Once done inhaling the medicine his breathing was beginning to normalize, and so was mine.
“Hey bud, you good?” I asked while putting his inhaler back in his backpack.
“Yup! All good. Umm (y/n) what was that gunshot about? Are they gonna shoot at us?” (b/n) asked thoughtfully. Thinking about what to say I finally settled to a somewhat more comforting answer, “Of course not, must be something else. No need to worry okay? I’m not gonna let anyone hurt you”
“You promise?” holding out his pinky for me to take.
“Promise. I’ll do anything for you” and I know that I will, no matter what.
_-_-_-_-_-_-_
(A few moments later)
Resuming our journey once again, (b/n) and I were trying our best to keep up but we ended up getting left behind along with a teenage girl which I came to know as Adela, Ramiro her sleazy guardian, a lanky man named Moises, Mechas who’s currently berating us to move our ass, and another male migrant which I forgot his name.
Lobo and the rest were already way ahead of us and as much as we tried to get their attention, we ended up getting ignored.
Letting out a frustrated sigh I averted my attention below and what I saw made me freeze on the spot. It’s a truck, SHIT!
“Everybody, get down now!”
Everyone immediately complied. I pointed down to the truck just a couple of miles away from us, as a man stepped outside the car. Moments later a dog jumped out of it and it seems like the man was giving it something he found on the ground to smell on. The dog ran in the direction of the rest of our group and I know from that moment that something bad is about to happen. He ordered his dog to get in the truck while he retrieved something deadly... Oh lord! That looks like...
“A sniper” Moises shakily stated, finishing my terrified thoughts.
I held onto my brother preparing for the worst.
The man positioned himself near a cliff while aiming his gun towards our fellow migrants. And then the first shot was fired…
BANG! BANG! BANG! The gunshot continued while we shockingly watched what was happening in front of us...One by one, our fellow migrants were crashing to the ground painting the desert floor with the blood of the innocent.
Covering my brother’s eyes and ears with tears welling up in the corner of my eye.
I was so terrified that I didn’t even realize that the gunshots stopped. I was pulled back to reality when Adela was frantically pulling my arm while telling me that we need to go. Getting back to my senses I pulled my brother with me while we dashed to where we came from. Sweat falling from my forehead while my breathing became labored and still, I didn’t stop running. I’ve only paused for a moment when I heard (b/n) breathlessly say that he can’t breathe.
No no no please not now. Crouching down to my brother’s level, I took his bag while in search of his inhaler. That’s when I noticed a rip from the bottom. No this can't be happening. I tried to search for it but it’s gone. Looking at my brother his breathing was becoming erratic. So I held him in my arms while I rocked him back and forth “Hey bud, look at me. (b/n) look at me and listen to my breathing okay? Your alright buddy”
“What on earth are you doing?! You have to get up now or else they will catch up!!” Moises yelled at me.
“I can’t. We lost his inhaler somewhere and he’s having an asthma attack. I need to calm him down or else he won’t be able to breathe!” my voice filled with desperation as I just yet noticed Moises terrified expression. Something was behind us...
When I followed his gaze I saw the dog running towards us. Oh, god!
Moises’s eyes were full of guilt as he turned away from us and started running. “ No! Please don’t leave us please!!!” I cried desperately but to no avail. When I returned my gaze to the dog I can see that it was getting closer and closer. I know that we wouldn’t be able to outrun it no matter how much I tried. Looking down at my brother who was still having a hard time controlling his breathing. Time to deliver a promise… I gently placed him right behind me, standing up to my full height readying myself for what’s about to come.
The dog immediately jumped right at me while it sinks its canines in my arm. Crying in agony from the pain that ripped right through me, my brother’s breathy cries can be heard from behind me while I tried to get the beast off, stumbling on a rock I fell down on the ground and then hit my head hard on a rock. Fighting for consciousness my vision was getting blurry, I was barely feeling my mortal wound. I even failed to realize that they were no longer any canines sinking into my arm. Lolling my hazy head to the side, with a blurry vision I could see a pair of black heavy boots slowly approaching me. The sound of dust, his heavy boots clinking with each step and my desperate cry for my brother were the only sounds in the otherwise silent desert.
blink* boots by my side blink* shadow above blink* soft caresses on my cheeks blink* I was losing my consciousness... With tears in my eyes I can barely hold on,  but before losing myself to the darkness I can hear him mumble on… the words of the devil have sealed my fate and from then on I knew I will never escape.
“Beautiful, my desert rose,” he said.
yup, I'm fucked.
SO! I’ve been thinking about how Zagreus, a literal god, trained fighter under Achilles, has to fight through each region of the underworld, powered by the Olympians and ancient Titan-slaying weapons, dying multiple times, before he is able to reach the surface. And Orpheus, dude who has never held a sword in his life, just walked right in and out with only his lyre and his falsetto. I’ve been thinking about that so here’s a fic from the prospective of Thanatos about it:
disclaimer: I have no idea what the underworld timeline looks like so we are shooting pinball with the ages of the gods here
Thanatos was but a godling when the Orpheus debacle happened. Queen Persephone was with child, attempting to grow a new plant in the garden, when they all heard the singing. This was the first Thanatos himself had heard of it, although Mother Nyx and Lord Hades did not seem alarmed. Specifically, Mother Nyx did not look surprised, but instead, impressed. Lord Hades was enraged. He stood up dramatically, slamming his hands on his desk. Thanatos had been speaking to Mother Nyx about his future duties, the young god had recently found his calling and would soon be working among his older brother Charon and the young Olympian Hermes helping souls to their final resting home.
Speaking of, Lord Hades was working on attempting to gain communication with the god of messengers.
An orange orb appeared in the air, as a quick voice emerged, echoing around the house.
“Hey there, boss, you called?”
Lord Hades’ voice bellowed, trying to be heard over the distant plucking of a lyre. “Have you yet found out who exactly has infiltrated my realm?”
“About that, you see, that’s gonna be Orpheus, son of a Muse, you know those.”
“Why is he here? How did he get so far? I can hear that obnoxious lyre from my desk.”
Hermes tsked. “Well, that’s not a question for me, boss. That’s a question for your security system.”
“My security system is in ORDER! I would have heard if he had killed even one of my wretches.”
“Guess he’s not killing them then, huh? Anyway, good luck, keep me updated, gotta dash.”
The orange orb zapped out and the presence of Olympus left the chamber.
“Agh!” Hades pressed his fingers on his forehead. In a low voice, he called for Nyx.
Mother Nyx carted a hand through Thanatos’s hair to calm him before she rose to speak to Lord Hades.
Thanatos stood up and began walking towards the garden. Hypnos was standing at the doorway of the garden, peering out.
“What are you doing?” Thanatos asked.
“You know, just waiting for the Muse’s kid to get here.”
“He cannot. No one alive can enter the underworld, much less the House. The wretches will stop him.”
Hypnos grinned. “He’s gotten through both Elysium and Asphodel. Tartarus is probably a cakewalk, who knows when’s the last time those shades have heard music?”
“You think he is getting through just with his singing?” Thanatos looked through the doorway. Queen Persephone was no longer tending her garden. Instead, she was simply standing and looking, waiting.
“I can tell that some of the shades out there--they’re sleeping.” Hypnos wrapped himself in his blanket. He said it nonchalantly, as if sleeping shades was a common incident when, on the contrary, it should have been impossible.
Thanatos hovered closer to his twin, whispering harshly: “Don’t you think you should do something about that? Can’t you wake them up or something?”
Hypnos yawned. “I’m Sleep Incarnate, brother. ‘Waking up’ isn’t really my domain.”
Even if it had been, it would have been for naught. A melody erupted from the garden and the twins barely moved out of the way as all the shades in the House burst out the door in a green river of souls. The eruption, followed by a shout of anger from Lord Hades himself, was matched with the appearance of a young man, surrounded adoringly by shades, walking into the garden.
In his short trips to and from the surface, he had heard music but nothing quite like this. This was a melody that seemed to be aimed directly to his heart, his heart, as if it was sung just for him. Hypnos beside him seemed as close to wide awake as he’d ever been, as the two godlings peered out to the garden.
The musician, Orpheus, continued his descent through the garden. Queen Persephone held a dark purple plant to her chest and stepped aside, allowing him entry. She stood still for a moment, and then threw down her flower and ran ahead of Orpheus, past the twins, and to the desk of Lord Hades.
As Orpheus and his parade of shades entered the House, Thanatos watched Queen Persephone take Lord Hades’ hands in hers and whisper a plea.
The professional plucking of the lyre echoed and bounced around the chambers, drawing out shades. The House had never felt like this before, everyone kept to themselves and milled in silence. Even the announcement of the pregnancy of the Queen hadn’t held such a communicable celebration. The arrival of Orpheus drew in everyone. Thanatos could see even Sir Achilles swaying on his feet, debating to leave his post to get closer to the music.
Mother Nyx appeared behind her sons, resting a hand on each of their heads.
“Mother, what will happen to him?” Thanatos asked.
“I believe the Queen is attempting to sway Lord Hades’ anger of the musician’s trespassing, my son.”
“But he must be punished,” Thanatos said, finding sorrow in his tone.
“Yes, my child. But we do not yet know the extent of his crime. The Queen wishes for him to, at the least, be heard.”
Thanatos believed Orpheus was already, clearly, being heard. Mother Nyx remained with the twins as the scene unfolded before them.
As bold as his actions had been and as long as his journey, Orpheus seemed nervous. He arrived before Lord Hades’ desk. The God of the Dead was standing tall, one hand curled in a large fist, slammed down on a pile of parchment-work. The other was gentle, as Queen Persephone was clutching it.
Instead of immediately striking down, sending the man’s soul flailing hopelessly towards Tartarus, Lord Hades said: “Do tell, what has prompted you to defy my power and waltz into my home?”
Orpheus’s song stopped and Thanatos could have wept due to the sudden silence (some shades did). His hands shook as he held his lyre close. “My lord, I-I did not mean disrespect to you and your House, or-or, to the Queen. Quite simply, my muse, my love, my Eurydice, had fallen to unkindly fate which led her here. And, well, I do intend to be taking her home with me.”
Lord Hades laughed starkly at that. “Ah, I see. Not only do you break into my home but you expect to leave with another soul? A soul that rightfully belongs here? Have you any idea who you speak to?”
“Uh, I believe you are Lord Hades?”
“That--why you--”
Lord Hades paused and leaned down to the Queen Persephone, who spoke quickly and quietly. A hand rested on her stomach and the god’s expression softened.
A heavy sigh blew around the chamber. Lord Hades sat down in his chair. The Queen found a seat as well. He said, “Well then. Go on.”
“I’m sorry, my lord?” Orpheus, as well as Thanatos, seemed surprised.
“If your intentions are of that--of love--well, I will need you to convince me. How do I know this is not a ploy? How do I know you did not come here in malice against me and my family?”
Orpheus brought a smile to his face. “I-I see, my lord. I have a song, if you’d be willing, that will assure you my true intentions.”
Lord Hades nodded. Queen Persephone smiled and leaned forward, as if she was preparing to soak in the moment, savoring every note of the lyre and utterance of the man.
Orpheus began to sing a love song. It began light and happy and adoring. Thanatos did not need to process the words for the feeling of it was enough to be understood. Mother Nyx gently pushed on his back and allowed them to move forward.
Thanatos and Hypnos didn’t need more encouragement. Without much thought, the twins broke their endless hover and walked, feet on cold tile, to sit at Orpheus’s feet and listen. Amongst them were all of the shades, gathered around, emerging out of the lounge and administration chamber. Cerberus rested all three heads on the ground, puppy eyes pondering Orpheus. Achilles did not give breaking his post a second thought, and walked over to be closer, leaning with his head against the wall, closing his eyes tightly, as if trying to imagine himself somewhere different.
The end of the song came too quickly and too sorrowfully. Contrary to the beginning, the ending was of grief and mourning, of loss and the extent one will go to lay eyes on their lover again.
At the last note, it seemed like a spell had been broken, releasing the House from the song. Thanatos did not realize how much time had passed, but felt in renewed spirits. He wished to thank Orpheus, but instead rose again, grabbing the hand of his twin, who had curled in his quilt, yawning.
Thanatos returned to Mother Nyx who was watching Lord Hades at his desk, wiping his eyes and furrowing his brow. Thinking of what would come next.
But they all remembered how it went.
Time later, the Queen left and returned, both times due to her son, Zagreus. Orpheus was back and singing once again. Zagreus found Thanatos peering over the River Styx.
“Hey, Than!” Zagreus had just returned from another run, ransacking the underworld. Of course, Thanatos had lent a hand, but that wasn’t something that needed to be announced. It had taken Thanatos time to justify his actions. Especially before it was Zagreus’s duty to do so, back when Thanatos thought that everytime he helped, he was only assisting in Zagreus leaving him.
“Hello, Zagreus.”
“Did you hear? I was able to lift Orpheus’s punishment, he can visit Asophel to see his muse whenever he’d like.”
“That’s great, Zag. I’m sure he appreciated that very much.”
“I sure hope so, it cost me a couple diamonds. I suppose I’ll just get more from Lernie. Actually, I came to ask, weren’t you there? When Orpheus first came through?”
“Yes, I was,” the song Orpheus had sang was a low hum in the back of his mind ever since, “but I was quite young.”
“I see. I can’t stop thinking about it, you know? Everyday or night, I nearly die trying to get out of here, and that’s with help from a lot of gods. And he just walked through. I doubt he fought.”
“No, he did not. He just sang.”
“I’ll have to give it to him. He made it look easy--the getting in part, at least,” Zagreus smiled. The song, that damn song, seemed to play louder Thanatos’s head. What were the words of it? Did it matter? Why was it louder now, but less clear?
Zagreus was talking, asking him a question: “So, do you think you would?”
“What?”
“Look back. If you had been Orpheus, would you have looked back?”
“Oh, well. I don’t know.”
“Me neither. Seems like a pretty simple task with a high reward, don’t you think?”
Thanatos nodded. Seemed so. Then again, sometimes things that seem so simple prove to be the most difficult.
“Alright, I need to trade in some fish, thanks for the help back there?”
“Of course,” Thanatos said as he watched Zagreus trot off, waving to Achilles on the way.
He, he thinks, understands. He knows, actually. If it was Zagreus behind him, he would have to turn back.
He would have to know. Could he be faulted for that?
Rowan glanced at his pocket watch and attempted to swallow his irritation.
How was it only nine-o-clock still? He had already suffered through enough social niceties to last a lifetime.
Now, he listened with but half a mind to his cousin drone on about the night's guests. His head was filled with all the tasks he needed to see to, including searching for a new governess for his sons. His boys kept chasing away every woman he employed and he was hesitant to hire a tutor, because he believed they needed a woman's influence too, now that his own wife was too ill. The physician had done all he could but there was not much hope she would wake, loathe as he was to admit it. Perhaps he should have accepted his mother-in-law's offer and send the boys to their her after all?
"--and Arobynn's here too—"
That caught his attention. "He is?"
"Mhmm. Look, over there, no, no, to the left—besides the pretty redhead, yes, just so."
A man stood by the entrance with a red-haired woman on his arm, tall and muscular, with a fine-boned face. His auburn hair were pulled back into a bun, offsetting his pale skin and the fine cut of his suit was a stark reminder of his prominent position in society, despite the whole stigma around tradesmen.
"I knew he was fond of flaunting convention but escorting his mistress to a ball?"
"You haven't heard?" James approached them with a drink in his hand. "She is not his mistress but an adoptive daughter of sorts and his apparent heir."
Fenrys choked on his drink.
"He named a girl heir to his trade empire—and not even his own blood—stupid!"
"Spoken like a man," said the gentleman and shook his head. "He raised her himself, is introducing her to all his associates and she doesn't look dumb either."
James nodded towards the redhead he had seen earlier, dressed in the finest black silk with a neckline low enough, it bordered on scandalous. Her copperish-red hair were pinned into an elegant coiffure with pretty, gold hair combs and a simple, pearl necklace completed the striking picture she made. Her sharp, defined features were barely beautiful until she laughed—a musical sound in itself—and he wondered whether he had seen anyone prettier.
"If hers was the last face I ever saw, I'd die a happy man." Fenrys sighed and walked off.
James rolled his eyes. "He's about to seek an introduction to her, isn't he?"
Rowan's lips twitched up.
He had always liked James. The man was completely without artifice and his enthusiasm for everything was so infectious, no one could remain angry with him. He had spent a few summers with the Galathynius children, until their youngest daughter was abducted and the visits stopped.
"I say you must frown a little less, sir, unless you wish to give offense."
Rowan looked up, startled at being addressed by the object of his thoughts. She looks even lovelier up close, thought he.
"I detest these events."
"So do half the people in this room and yet, appearances must be maintained."
"Deceit is not in my nature."
The lady frowned. "It is not deceitful to pretend you are interested in an event in order to spare your host's feelings."
"Your motive may be charitable but it is no excuse for dishonesty."
The lady looked amused but did not pursue the topic further. "I hope you will forgive me for speaking without a proper introduction, sir. I am not a fan of convention."
Rowan smiled.
An unmarried woman, not even of age, and already a heiress to a trade empire—by all accounts, she did not seem like one.
"I will, if you allow me to remedy the situation now." He bowed with exaggerated formality. "I am Mr. Rowan Whitethorn of Harcomb, in Doranelle."
Her cheek dimpled. "Miss Celaena Sardothein—my father—"
"Mr. Hamel, yes, I know." He almost cringed at how rude he sounded. "He and I, we are—"
"—business associates, yes, I know," she teased with an impish grin, replying in a poor imitation of his own deep voice.
Her eyes twinkled with amusement, filled with laughter and mirth—turquoise orbs, ringed with brilliant gold.
All of his resolve flew out of the window. "Miss Sardothein, will you allow me the pleasure of leading you into the first set? The dancing is about to commence."
"The pleasure will be all mine."
In hopes of starting a conversation, he said, "You are a fine dancer."
"I would have believed you to be a liar if we hadn't already established that deceit of any sort is your abhorrence."
He smiled. "And if I were being insincere?"
"I would take it as a compliment to myself, for it will mean that you are acting on my advice from earlier about lying for the sake of appearances."
They fell silent again.
"We must talk some, you know," said Rowan. "For someone who claims to be concerned with appearances, do you not think it would look odd for us to spend a half hour together but in silence."
She startled at the sudden statement. "Introduce a topic then and I will do my poor best to maintain the conversation."
Rowan complied and was pleasantly surprised to find her lively and good-humored and well-informed on most subject from current fashion disasters to books to political bills and movements. Her arguements were passionate and far from taking offense at his dry humor, she matched it with witty quips of her own; and to top it alll off, she was as skilled a dancer as a conversationalist.
Rowan was almost annoyed when the song came to an end. He could not recall the last time he had been half as well entertained.
"You will be the death of me, you foolish, foolish chit!" screeched the old matron.
Fenrys had allowed himself to be dragged into a bookstore, which happened to be one of his least favourite places, by his cousin, James—the second son to his uncle, Lord Rhoe, the Earl of Narrowcreek—and was now eager for any sort of amusement. He turned towards the high-pitched shriek with interest.
A young lady stood near the shelves, tall and proud, even in the face of her mother's ill-bred manners.
Her blonde hair fell down in waves, half pinned by dragonfly-shaped hair combs. The fabric of her dress was fine enough for her to belong to the first circles and yet, he could not recall seeing her—or her mother—anywhere.
"Ungrateful child! Wait until I tell your father what you did; he will be most displeased."
She bit her lip to contain her mirth, though her cheeks flushed with embarassment. Her eyes flitted to the door and back, as if she was looking for some escape.
"Poor girl," the bookshop owner murmured.
The following words had the unfortunate attention of drawing the mother's attention towards the owner.
Lord Fenrys almost laughed at the alarmed look on the owner's face when she began lamenting to him instead and then looked over at the lady who was staring at the door with a thoughtful look, as if wondering whether or not to attempt an escape.
She must have decided in it's favour because she gathered her skirts and made a mad dash towards the door.
Fenrys realised he was standing in her way and hastened to move but it was too late—
"Darn!" cried she.
The commotion drew her mother's attention and upon spotting her wayward daughter lying on the floor with a grimace, she rushed over with a whole new litany of complaints.
Fenrys could have sworn the lady cursed under her breath.
"Stubborn, stubborn child! I told you not to run off without me but oh, how you love vexing me," shouted her mother in her high-pitched voice. "And what are you doing, bothering this fine gentleman over here? You had better not to talk to anyone if you are determined to refuse them all. You broke that poor man's heart—"
Fenrys quirked an eyebrow in interest, looking thoroughly entertained.
Her cheeks flushed further.
He frowned.
Up close, her face looked awfully familiar. He searched his brain for an answer.
A memory flashed in front of his mind. A highly unconventional black dress, a tinkling laugh and a ballroom.
Realisation dawned.
"Miss Sardothein! Fancy seeing you here," said he. "I almost didn't recognise you because of the hair."
"The hair? Oh, yes, I am very fond of dyes, but you have caught me in my natural state."
"I find you lovelier than ever. If you will forgive me for prying, I could not help but observe you haven't bought a thing yet, even though I know you to be a great reader! Is the reading material not to your taste, Miss Sardothein?"
Celaena answered wryly, "As a matter of fact, the books here suit my tastes very well—It is only that I am not allowed to buy books for a month—as punishment."
"No books! And what awful crime did you commit to merit that?"
"I rejected a marriage offer."
"A capital offense!"
Celaena smiled, "Indeed."
"I hope you are appropriately ashamed of yourself!"
"Horrified at my own audacity, really."
The lady looked up at him and grinned; Fenrys' own face turned pale and his mouth fell open in surprise. Ashryver eyes! She had ashryver eyes—like James, Aedion, and their mothers Helen and Evalin and—gods. The little poem his cousins had made up in childhood came to the forefront of his mind.
"The fairest eyes, from legends old,
Of brightest blue, ringed with gold."
But how...?
He looked at the woman again: her eyes bright and mirthful and thick eyelashes resting on her cheek, the face tugged at his memory; and she smiled so impishly, he had seen that smile before—
"Aelin," he blurted out.
He was startled when her smile dropped and recognition flickered in her eyes.
Fenrys shot an alarmed look towards the shelf behind which James had disappeared. Aelin was here! But how could this be? His heart thumped loudly inside his chest.
"Aelin?" She inclined her head in question.
He smiled uncertainly.
Was she really his little cousin? Aelin had been five year old when he last saw her.
But if he was wrong about this, could this come to bite him in the ass? She was certainly as old as his cousin would have been, had she been alive and she had the same unruly blonde curls and those ashryver eyes, teeming with life.
It couldn't be...
Arobynn's adoptive daughter.
"Yes, Aelin was my favourite cousin—you, uh, you remind me of her."
"If she is your favourite, then I am inclined to take that as a compliment." Celaena—Aelin?—smiled again, though her eyebrows remained drawn still. "The name does sound familiar. Perhaps I would have heard of her in the newspaper? The society column is a great source of amusement to my father. He reads it aloud to us from time to time."
Father? He wondered if she was talking of Arobynn or Mrs. Rhunn's husband.
Fenrys smiled sadly. "That is not possible for you see, my cousin died when she was five."
At least I thought she died.
"I am sorry for your loss." Then, with an arch look on her face, she asked, "If she was like me as you say, she must have been delightful."
He chuckled. "An absolute troublemaker."
"Definitely like me then," said she, sparing a look towards her mother. "I should leave now, before my mother lists you off as yet another suitor!"
And before he could think to stop her, she curtsied and scurried off.
Fenrys stared at the door, somewhat dumbfounded. Aelin is alive. He marvelled at the thought and then wondered how on earth he would inform her family—James would be ecstatic and his father would have to be informed, and Edward would have to be called to London, gods. Edward!
Aelin had been missed by all but no one grieved her as the poor man had.
Edward would be ecstatic; everyone would.
Fenrys ran towards his cousin out of breath, who was still examining titles in one corner.
"Fenrys, god, slow down, man! Whatever happened? You look like you saw a ghost."
He blinked.
Then, without any attempt at tact or discretion, he blurted out: "Aelin is alive."
Tumblr media
"Aelin, Aelin, stop that—no, look at your frock, mother will be so angry, no, Aelin! You will hurt yourself like that."
The man watched, concealed behind the ridge as a little girl skipped from one mud puddle to another, blonde curls bouncing up and down as she moved. Her elder brother followed at a more sedate place, calling out admonishments and threats, not that they had an effect on her.
Aelin grinned over her shoulder and ran, leading her brother on a merry chase.
The man was still debating how to go about abducting the girl when fortune smiled upon him; she twisted her leg and fell down, prompting the boy to run towards her.
"It hurts," she whimpered, refusing to stand.
The man smiled maliciously and waited as the boy looked around. "Very well," he said finally. "If you promise not to go anywhere, I will fetch papa. Do not move, Aelin."
The boy rushed towards the manor house, ignoring the twisted knots in his stomach and burst into his father's private study. In his panicked state of mind, it took a few attempts for Rhoe to make sense of his garbled words.
A foreboding feeling rose in his stomach.
She will be fine, he tried to reassure himself. Aelin, troublemaker that she was, had had a lot worse than a twisted ankle.
But his alarm grew the nearer they came to where she was supposed to be and his heart pounded inside his chest. All colour drained from his face when they didn't find Aelin where she was supposed to be.
"Are you certain this is where you left her?"
Edward nodded.
Rhoe suddenly felt dizzy, his knees buckled and bile rose up in his throat.
He reined himself in and with admirable composure, organised search parties to search around the estate and the neighbourhood.
The search carried on until late that night, when an express rider from the nearby magistrate arrived with a letter: a nearby warehouse had burned down earlier that day and two bodies were found: a man in his forties, who could not be identified and a seven year old girl who had on a silver anklet bearing the word fireheart and requested Mr. Galathynius' presence tomorrow at the warehouse to confirm the girl's identity.
Rhoe folded the letter, excused himself from company and sent his sons to their beds.
Then he entered his study: the study no one was allowed to enter without permission—except his Aelin—slumped into the armchair by the fireplace and wept.
Random Anime Opinions from a POC that will probably make you hate me :)
DISCLAIMER: These are only my opinions and things that I believe in. Nothing about it is canon. Once again my OPINION. Nothing is a fact.
- Eren probably doesn't know hygiene. That man is a feral killing machine. And you think he cares if people say he stank? I'm pretty sure he would kill the person just for saying that tbh. Especially if they MARRRLEEEY. So If I see one more fic of Eren having a sense of fashion, I'm going to shake my head.
- Shigaraki has a mommy kink. He's a mama's boy. (I hate and love mama boys. But there are certain ones that I hate with a burning passion) But Shigaraki is a good mama's boy. The one that is touch starved and needs cuddles even though he doesn't want to admit it.
- Deku's theme song is Gangsta's Paradise by Coolio, specifically because people see him as black/Asian because of his hair type compared to others.
- My hero fans need to stop with the Broke Uraraka jokes because most of the time it is going way too damn far. I get it's a joke but Jesus christ Momo is not gonna bash Uraraka for not having a few dollars for the club.
- Bakugo is not hot bro. You just see yourself in him and you like yourself. Bakugo is literally the type to date his damn self to prove that he's amazing in every aspect. But that man is a literal virgin. There is no way he would be a sex god you guys be praising him to be. He is the type to never lose his virginity cause he "never" losses.
- Kirishima had an emo phase in middle school. (This is lowkey canon) He had the black hair and he would wear chains. And that's why he didn't have a lot of friends because they thought he was weird. (Don't come at me for that because I love Kirishima to death. He's a sweetheart)
- I never want to put racism onto a character. But in my head, Denki acts so black. I don't know why- I don't know where it came from. But I feel as though he is the type to take after Africain American culture. From the music to the clothing styles. Probably even hair styles but that would be too far. But Denki would be the type to enjoy AA culture. I mean Idon't blame him.
- Denki is also a crackhead. And any fic you read that's him being on drugs like vape or weed. I personally thinks it's true. They are in high school, there will always be a high kid in HIGH school. It's in the name. And a High story Denki had is of a guy in a white van trying to kidnap him using candy as fucking bait. I mean Denki's dumbass would actually get halfway kidnapped until he starts rambling about Pokemon. He looks like Pikachu literally. And he was probably compared to Pikachu all his life. So Of course he likes Pokemon, he thought Pikachu was his bestie.
- Let's move on from My hero and go to Jujutsu Kaisen because please the things i have to say-
- Gojo is a whole man child with no hoes. Wait it's either he has no hoes or he has a lot of hoes. Too many hoes that he can't keep up with. There is no in between. Gojo had a my little pony phase, his favorite was rainbow dash and Princess Celestia. (Geto's favorite was Princess Luna) Gojo still watches my little pony but only Itadori knows because Itadori likes my little pony too. He thinks the concept of the show is inspiring.
- Sukuna would say the n word. Point blank period. He says it. Itadori will never be able to listen to rap songs made by black people the same.
- Itadori loves Hispanics/Latinos. I know damn well as a kid he had vine and followed Lele Pons and lusted the hell out of her until he realized she was kinda flat. And began his lust for Jennifer Lopez (in the manga it says Jennifer Lopez) and Megan thee stallion.
- Toji is also not a sex god. That man is sexy as hell but he isn't a sex god. Wait... Now that I am thinking. I feel like he knows his way around but I just think he's rusty. Too busy being a shit dad and killing curses with his glock.
- Nobara is a bad bitch and If I hear a single bad thing about her. It's either imma block you or I will slap you. It depends on if you say it in front of me or over the internet. She was smoking hot when she got affected by the curse that made black roses go all over her face and arm. People that don't like Nobara is just ugly. And you can't tell me otherwise.
- And Megumi, lord have mercy. Megumi deserves to be in Tokyo Revengers. HE PROBABLY WAS IN TOKYO REVENGERS. He's gotta be Baji's cousin or something. They both got that crazy look in their eyes.
- Megumi is also a city boy. Just like his daddy (Gojo i mean) And you can't tell me he has girls waiting on line for him. Because he doesn't own a single ugly bone in his body. Have you seen his demigod of a father? Megumi was like Jotaro in school. The silent shut the fuck up or I'll beat you to a pulp type. And those types are always the best at dropping panties. Sooner or later, Megumi is going to learn from his father and become a dilf.
Seaside Rendezvous | Chapter 1: Deep Sea Treasure
Tumblr media
Pairing / Ship: Thor Odinson x Male reader
Featuring: Thor Odinson
Words: 1271
Category: Fic, Fluff, Multi-Part, Collab
Warning: Shirtless and fluffy Thor, the beach, absolute gay fluff, gift giving, kisses, nicknames, slight teasing
Summary: You and your boyfriend spend a day on the beach, and Thor just can’t help but be the adorable boyfriend that he is.
Author’s Note: This is a collab I’m doing with @kingreidx! He’s writing the second chapter (which is smut) so keep an eye out for that one! This is my first collab and I loved working with such an amazing writer and share our mutual love for Thor.
A soft summer breeze whistled past you as you were laying on the beach, the sun high up in the sky and already bright as ever. You were laying on a towel, baking in the sun and enjoying the background chatter that the beach offered. You were here together with Thor, your boyfriend, who dove into the water the second you two entered the premises. He had been gone for quite some time, so you decided to get up and start looking for him.  You know he had gone out surfing, but you have no idea where he was doing it. There were several small docks on the beach going out into different sections of the water, so you just walked onto the one where you saw some other surfers and called out his name.
‘’Thor! Thor, babe?’’ You called out to the blue waters, but for a second there was no motion, no response. You waited, breathing in the salty summer air, your eyes darting around the water. Out of the corner of your left eye you spotted someone rising from the depths and soon you were met with Thor’s masculine frame and blond hair. A smile appeared on your face as he swum closer to you. He was almost at your feet when you noticed he was holding something. You kneeled down when he reached you.
‘’Hey baby, did you have fun surfing?’’ Thor’s eyes were immediately fixated onto your body, ascending and eventually reaching your eyes. ‘’More fun now that I have been reunited with my treasure.’’ Thor wasted no time making you a blushy mess. He jumped up onto the small wooden dock. You noticed how the water dripped from his biceps, his well defined abs, his chest. He immediately moved himself closer to you, his hands cupping your face to hold it in place. You giggled because this was one of the most favorite things Thor did to you. His eyes looked like they were drowning in yours and you couldn’t help but feel butterflies in your stomach. Thor placed a kiss onto your lips while one of his hands descended down to your hip, on which he pulled so you got even closer to him.
Your arms were tied around his waist and you were standing on your toes. He seemed to notice this as he broke contact with your lips, he looked down smiling, his tongue licking his lips in thought. ‘’Is my baby too short to reach me?’’ You knew what would happen next, because this was one of the familiar phrases Thor would use on you before doing something utterly soft and romantic.
In one swift motion, Thor grabbed you be the lower legs and shoulders and picked you up bridal style, carrying you back to your spot on the beach. You gasped and chuckled in response, one of your arms was swung across his back as the other was resting against his large chest. ‘’Thor! Oh my-’’ As he carried you from the docks to the beach, a few people gave quick looks or stares, all in positive light, but that didn’t matter. As your cheeks started to flush you hid your face in Thor’s neck. ‘’Thor, people are watching.’’
Thor took this as a good thing, and didn’t notice your slight discomfort. ‘’Huh? They are?’’ He said in a mildly sarcastic manner, putting on a tone as if he didn’t notice but in a jokingly way. ‘’Good, everyone should admire my beautiful treasure.’’ You blushed even more as he played you down onto your towel. As he did though, he sat down on one knee and leaned into you, his mouth close to your ear. His voice had gotten deeper and huskier for just a quick second as he said. ‘’You are still my treasure though.’’ He gave your neck a quick peck but at this point you couldn’t help yourself.
You grabbed Thor by the neck and kissed him passionately in return. You felt him smile under the kiss for just a second but he quickly composed himself and kissed back. You felt his hand roam from your lower leg to your thigh which made you gasp; a perfect opportunity for Thor to slip his tongue inside. You didn’t even fight and fully complied to Thor taking the lead. A soft, grunted down moan escaped your mouth and you suddenly realized that you were on an actual, well-packed beach, with actual people.
You laid your hands on his chest and softly pushed him off, chuckling just after your lips parted. ‘’Babe, we’re still on a beach.’’ Thor’s face shifted and it was hit with literal confusion for just a quick second. He looked around himself and chuckled. ‘’Ah, right. We’re still on a Midgardian location, my mind travelled a little too far back to Asgard.’’ There he was again with the dreamy eye contact, you couldn’t stop yourself from biting on your lower lip. ‘’My apologies, my love.’’ He kissed your hand as he always does when apologizing, even for the must innocent things and you just chuckled. Thor has always such a great effect on you. You leaned into him and whispered, if he was gonna tease you, you were definitely gonna tease back. ‘’Besides, save some for tonight.’’
Thor shook his head and laughed. He reached back and grabbed something, the item you saw him holding when he was getting out of the water. Upon close-up inspection you saw it was an oyster. You frowned and looked up at your boyfriend, who was already grabbing something else and probably ready to explain the oyster situation. ‘’About tonight.’’ He started, you were already dashing with curiosity. ‘’I thought it would be a grandiose idea if you were to wear something that I think resembles my love for you.’’ Melted didn’t even come close to what you were feeling, your heart was fluttering and you were positive you ascended to cloud 9.
He cracked open the oyster and inside, you couldn’t believe it, sat a beautiful shiny pearl. He tiled the oyster so the pearl fell in his palm and he held it up to you. His eyes were shining and your love for him just went through the earth’s atmosphere and into space. ‘’When I think of you, I am reminded of all the treasure in the world. Because that is how you feel to me-’’ He voice had gotten trembly at the end of his last sentence so he cut himself off, but continued nonetheless. This man was incandescently in love with you. ‘’A beautiful, glowing, radiant treasure from the deep sea. So I would love it if you were to wear this tonight.’’ He paused for a second, looking at you and waiting for an answer.
‘’Yes! Oh lord, yes. Of course I’ll wear it.’’ Thor sighed in relief and kissed you, his lips feeling sending you to the heavens. You two laughed until both your bellies rumbled with hunger. It had been quite some time since you two last ate, so you decided to go to the nearby shop and buy some ice cream. You picked raspberry cheesecake flavor, Thor - not being very familiar with earthly food - picked chocolate.  You two were walking along the pier next to the beach, holding each other’s hand and eating the ice cream. You were about to finish your final scoop when Thor suddenly let go of your hand and yelled. ‘’Last person to the towel’s is a loser!’’ As you chuckled and started to run back to the towels, you wondered how tonight would look like..
Depth Over Distance - Part Three [Rudy x Reader]
Tumblr media
[A/N: I haven’t found a hometown Rudy fic yet soooo I wrote one. I have no idea where this story is going to go and I’m honestly finding it hard to get out of writing JJ and get into writing Rudy, but here we go anyways. I wanted to write something where the reader and Rudy were hometown friends before he moved to LA, and to explore the idea of how that would change/what it would look like when he comes back. Get ready for a S L O W. B U R N. my dudes. Peace and love, Mossy x]
There were very few people in the world that could make you smile at 7 in the morning when it was raining outside, but Rudy was one of them.
You forced yourself awake as your car wound around the dirt roads, swerving pot holes and washboards, the rain starting to patter lightly on your windshield again. You followed Rudy’s tail lights away from the beach parking lot, your hula girl bobbling on the dash board, and you smiled as you were instantly transported into a flashback of the first time you had followed him down this road.
————
It was the day you bought your car, the week of your sixteenth birthday, and Rudy had asked you to meet him out at the beach alone in the afternoon before your party later that night. You had driven your car to the parking lot where his old beaten down and barely drivable Chevy was parked and pulled in beside him. He applauded graciously as you got out of the drivers seat and you took a deep bow, laughing.
“Look at this absolute TANK!” He said, taking his sunglasses off and walking around the car, inspecting it. It must have passed his inspection because he got up off the ground after looking under the wheel wells and wiping the dirt off his knees, beaming. “Its perfect”
“Isn’t it?” You gushed, unable to contain the smile plastered on your face. “I can’t believe its mine. It feels so weird.”
“Come on” Rudy bumped your arm with his and grabbed his pack out of the box of his truck. You followed him down the trail, jogging lightly to keep up with his long, comfortable stride. When you got to the beach, he laid a blanket out and patted for you to sit down beside him, you had been telling him about how the car drove and all its quirks you had noticed and how sticky the gear shift was, and didn’t notice when he pulled two beers out of his pack.
“Oh” You said quietly, stopping talking and staring at him. “Rudy, I can’t. I have to drive to my party after this.”
Rudy smiled at you and chucked the beer underhand at you so you had to catch it. Your eyes wide, you looked around, checking to make sure nobody was watching.
“Relax, Y/N. I will drive in front of you...if anything happens ill get stopped first.” He winked at you, knowing that one beer wouldn’t get either of you in trouble but knowing how conscious you were, and cracked his can. You apprehensively cracked your own, some of the spray from it being shaken up landing on your bare legs. You clinked cans and smiled at each other. Rudy looked at you intently and dipped his head towards you.
“To you. My wonderful best friend. I hope you have the best night ever. Happy Birthday. Congrats on the car. Can’t wait to christen it-”
“RUDY!” You smacked his arm and laughed until your face was beat red. “Cheers”
He echoed you and you both lifted your cans, drinking a few gulps. It was hoppy and made your throat burn, you squinted and shook your head.
“-AND, and,” He tipped his can towards you. “I have a present for you.”
“No.” You looked at him, feigning anger. “You know the rules. We don’t do presents...”
He ignored you and smiled cheekily, lifting a box out of his pack. Unwrapped and the cardboard torn, you snorted as he passed it to you. You hoped he mistook your blushing for the beer making you flush. As you opened the box, you could feel your legs tingling and your chest pumping quicker. Rudy had never given you a gift before - you had agreed as kids that you weren’t going to be those friends. This felt weird and intimate. First you saw the black hair and the green skirt, then the lai and the bikini top. You looked up at him and raised your eyebrows before you started laughing.
“Oh really, Rudy. Really, you shouldn’t have. Thank you.” You mocked sincerity, putting a hand on your chest. “So thoughtful...I just...”
“Alright shut up” He laughed, tearing the box up and stuffing it back in his pack.
You smiled genuinely at him, and held the dashboard hula girl gently in your hands.
“Thank you” You said without laughing now, making Rudy wiggle his nose and shift his position on the blanket, scratching his hand through his hair nervously.
“Well. You know...no beater is complete without one.” He said with mock seriousness.
“Hey! She’s not a beater. She’s...just...very well loved.” You emphasized the last words, hoping to convey how loved you felt at that moment.
You smiled at each other now, then the smiles faded and you held each others gazes silently. You couldn’t tell if it was the beer or the sunset or Rudy’s cologne or the proximity of how close you sat on the blanket, but the air shifted between you and you felt your head loosen on your shoulders. It was as if Rudy was leaning towards you, but you felt wobbly so you couldn’t be sure. All you knew was that he was staring at you, your eyes, your lips, and your chest was pounding and you felt light headed.
You swallowed and broke eye contact, looking at the water.
“We should probably get going. Can’t be late to our own party.” You smiled at him, his eyes still lingered on your mouth then hazily looked back up at your eyes and returned the smile.
“Yeah” He agreed, then stood quickly, offering you his hand to help you up.
You white knuckled the steering wheel the entire drive from the beach to your house, the hula girl on the dash wiggling in between Rudy’s tail lights.
————
You blinked and looked at the road again, Rudy’s rental car tail lights disappearing around the corner onto his street. You looked at the hula girl and stretched your hands out on the steering wheel, your palms sweaty.
You pulled into his driveway behind his car as he emerged from the drivers seat, taking his sunglasses off and hanging them off the neck of his shirt. You shoved the gear stick into park and reefed on the e-brake (you couldn’t trust the brakes on flat land let alone a slight hill) as Rudy walked towards your car, waiting near the hood. He placed his hand on it and smiled, you watched as you took off your seatbelt and opened your door.
“What, did you miss her?” You asked sarcastically as he feigned shock and lifted his hand to his chest.
“Of course I did” He bumped your elbows together when you stepped in beside him and you both started towards his front door.
His house hadn’t changed a lick since you were there last - you stopped visiting a few months after Rudy left, even though his mom invited you over every single time she saw you. The gutters were still rusting and the front door looked like you could kick it in if you tried hard enough. You spent more time at this house than you did at your own in high school, and walking up to it was like muscle memory, you knew to sidestep the root in front of the first step, to skip to the third step because the second was rotten and your foot would go through it.
Rudy’s mom was already coming down the hall towards the front door, making all sorts of noises and probably crying, and you could hear the family dogs scuttling on the hardwood around her feet.
“Good lord, my boy.” His mom stopped in the frame between the main door and the screen door, then she broke into hysterics, throwing the screen open and pulling him into a huge, very Rudy bear hug. He came by them honestly. He looked at you like he needed help before she turned her attention to you and did the same thing.
“Hi Mrs Pan-Hi, yep hello-“ She squeezed you so hard you felt your back crack.
“Mom - you literally see her once a week, chill.”
Rudy was laughing but also courteously trying to pry his mother back inside the house. It was true - she did see you every week when she came into the bookstore to pick up her newspapers and magazine subscriptions, but it didn’t matter. She was like a second mother to you and always made you feel like it was the most exciting day in the world when you came to visit.
When you finally made it into the kitchen, you and Rudy sat down at the barstools as his mom flew back into whatever she was making, both of you knowing better than to get in her way when she was cooking. She started talking to Rudy about how the trip had been and how much of a ‘weiner that Alan was, messing up your schedule like that’. Rudy placed his phone on the counter and the screen lit up briefly - showing over 20 missed calls from someone who’s name started with an A. The screen went dark before you could read it. Wow - he really was famous. Or had a stalker.
You watched Rudy and his mom convalescing over their separation (his parents flew to LA to see him at Christmas every year since he had left, but still) and felt yourself relax into your seat, smiling. Watching her rolling dough and washing fresh berries, smelling the spices and being in the same seats you had spent numerous summer mornings in in high school, you actually felt somewhat hungry.
Rudy’s mom passed you a cup of fresh coffee and you nodded a thank you at her as you began to sip it, listening to their conversation shift from how the trip was to how his acting classes were going to how Anna was doing. Anna? The name jogged your brain and you realized that was who the missed calls had been from. Rudy’s face dropped and his eyes flitted to your briefly, you lowered your cup from your mouth and held his gaze, then he regained composure and smiled at you before looking back to his mom.
“Uh, yeah. Yeah no she’s good. Actually I was gonna talk to you about that later.” His eyebrows rose and he smiled shortly at her, to which she made a confused expression and continued.
“But I thought-”
“Mom. Later.” He said finally, cutting her off. She nodded once and returned to her dough, continuing to talk to him about some of the things they had lined up while he was home. You barely heard a word she said, your gut was screaming at you that something was off about the way Rudy had reacted to her bringing up this Anna person and how odd it was he had so many missed calls from her. His body had gone completely rigid, and he had completely dodged the conversation, like he was keeping her a secret. You and Rudy had never kept secrets. Besides, if he had told his mom about a girl, it was serious. He hadn’t even told her about his high school girlfriend and they had dated for over 4 months. Why was he being shady now?
Then it hit you, and you felt like an ignorant little girl. It had been 4 years since he was home, he lived in LA and was a professional actor. He led an entirely different life that you knew nothing about now. It had been so easy, so comforting, to slip back into your old routine with him, being in his family home, visiting with his mom. But it wasn’t the same as it had been before, you were both different people now. Of course he had been with girls, was probably with girls right now, apparently her name was Anna, and who were you to him? His high school best friend? He didn’t owe you an explanation. But it did feel like a mistake coming here, expecting everything to just... be as it was. You felt silly.
As his mom brought plates of food to the table and motioned for you to sit with her, you grabbed your phone out of your pocket and checked the time. It was just after 8am.
“Actually, Mrs Pankow, I would love to stay but I’m actually not super hungry and I have to help my dad get ready for this trip he has coming up this weekend...it was really nice to see you though.” You rushed your words and scurried towards her, forcing her into a hug and then separating and moving towards the door, walking backwards as you talked.
“Wait, but honey I made you a plate.” She stood, confused, looking at you while holding the tongs.
“I know I’m so sorry, I just didn’t realize the time. I’ll see you soon, though. Promise. Bye Rudy”
As you spoke you spoke only to her, avoiding Rudy’s eyes which were watching you intently as he rose from his seat. You put your back against the screen and apologized again before pushing through it and jogging back down the stairs, tripping on the root at the bottom and walking quickly towards your car. You heard the screen door slam as Rudy called your name from behind you.
“Hey, Y/N, woah woah woah.” He was behind you before you reached your car, his hand wrapped around your arm. “Where are you going?” He spun you to face him, his face full of concern.
You smiled, tight-lipped, and nodded to your car.
“I lost track of time. I have to go.” You said curtly, waiting for him to let your arm go.
“Look if its about the food...I mean, you don’t have to...” He looked down at your arm, that was so devoid of fat and muscle anymore that his hand could wrap fully around it, and frowned.
You let out a breath and looked around, pinching the bridge of your nose before speaking.
“Its not that, Rudy. I just...I need to go. I’m sorry.”  You backed away, tugging your arm free as you walked towards your car again, your face hot and feeling embarrassed. Of course he would think it was about you not wanting to eat.
“Y/N wait” He said hurriedly, jogging to catch up to you and pressing your door closed as you began to open it. You looked up at him now, his eyes were intensely focused on you.
“What’s going on?” He was scanning your face, desperate. You felt yourself crumbling being this close to him and feeling him watching you so intensely. His expression faltered and his features relaxed. “Please talk to me” he said quietly.
You took a step back, away from your door, and let out a breath, swatting a mosquito away.
“I don’t know Rudy, I just....a lot has changed since you left. A lot. And I can’t just waltz around and pretend like we’re still in high school and nothing is different. We’re different...and...I mean if there are some parts of your life that you don’t want to share with me then that’s fine, but-“
“Hold on, what are you talking about?” His brow furrowed and he narrowed his eyes, taking a step towards you.
You raised your eyebrows at him and looked around, putting your hands in your pockets.
“You don’t have to...hide...stuff. From me. Of all people.” You said slowly, urging him to pick up on it so you wouldn’t have to say it. He looked stunned. “Anna?” You finally relented, taking half a step back.
His shoulders relaxed and a small smile crept onto his face, then a small laugh.
“My agent?” He said in a half mocking tone. “Anna is my agent.”
“Oh. Oh...that’s...weird” You felt the gears in your head turning slowly, trying to think if you had ever heard her name before or maybe it was normal to fool around and date your agents in LA? “You’re seeing your agent?” You said sceptically, trying not to look too judgemental.
He let out a full belly laugh then.
“No I’m not dating my agent, you loser. I just didn’t want to...talk about work yet. Its all my mom ever wants to talk about and I’m kinda trying to...have a few hours to relax first.” He said quietly, his eyebrows raised as he watched you, ready to laugh again at any moment.
You rolled your eyes and looked at your feet, nodding and pursing your lips.
“Yeah alright laugh it up. I don't know...you just seemed really on the spot when your mom brought her up. It was weird.”
He looked around and put his arms up, resting his hands on his head before his eyes settled back on you. He licked his lips and took a step towards you, dropping his hands to his sides.
“Look. There are some things about work I haven’t shared with my mom yet, and probably never will. And what I said on the beach this morning...about needing to come home for awhile. I meant that. Its...complicated. And trust me, please trust me when I say that I want to share that with you but....” His eyes were heavy on you then, he set his jaw and stepped towards you. “Y/N, please don’t go yet. I just got here.” He said firmly, his eyes locked on you.
You nodded once, scratching your forehead, and throwing your hands up dramatically.
“Fine. Alright.”
Rudy chewed his cheek and smiled, taking a deep breath and releasing it as his dad appeared on the porch behind him, the screen door squeaking.
“Hey! Kids! My breakfast is getting cold over here!” He shouted, smiling as Rudy turned around to wave at him. Rudy looked back at you once to make sure you were still coming, to which you nodded reassuringly, before he took off and hiked up the steps to greet his dad with a hug.
Happy 4/20 Yugihoes,
Please accept a humble posting of my puppyshipping/violetshipping weedfic.
Joey showed up at Kaiba's shiny new dispensary for the sole purpose of kicking Kaiba's ass.
It does not go as planned.
A gift for @sky-kaijou / @sky-kaijou-writes in honor of the 2020 New Zealand Cannabis Reefer-endum. TW: Marijuana use and sale.
Title by @auroraXborealis <3 For the Professional Rivals prompt of AU-Gust. . . . (context for this fic) Marijuana is decriminalized currently in Domino City, and stores can be licensed through a regulatory scheme similar to that of California.
Full story under the cut
Joey stomped into the new cannabis shop in the neighborhood.  It looked like an Apple store: white walls, smooth white tables, iPads and clerks in matching polos.  Gentrification had taken his neighborhood by storm, spinning the older apartment complexes into glamorous condos, replacing the older styled homes with sleek modern imitations, and leaving everyone who couldn’t keep up forced to either move away or to the streets.
Joey’s own rent was soaring, and so was his bitterness towards the invaders to his territory.  And especially this cursed-ass pot shop.  The shiny new dispensary hadn’t made a terrible dent in his sales, but he couldn’t keep up with the variety, the quality, or the convenience.
It was a travesty to his profession, is what it was.  Joey had been dealing for years—he’d never gotten an allowance from his father and passing a little pot along had made up the difference.  Once he graduated high school, it morphed into something of a full-time gig.  That hadn’t been his intention.  It wasn’t like he was trying to move up the distribution ladder or become the next gang lord.  But he’d built a good network, and in an industry that ran on relationships and reputation, it was really going pretty well for him.
And this bastard had the gall to move into his territory!  Sell his soulless, corporate product to his loyal customers.  With this robotic, inhuman, unfeeling mockery of everything that weed is.
Joey spotted a mustachioed blue-polo wearing corporate shill and waved him over.  “I’m here ta talk ta yer manager.  Give him ‘a piece of my mind.”
“If you intend to make threats against Mr. Kaiba in some sort of gang turf nonsense, you have no idea the true power that you are—” the goon responded, placid energy souring.  Joey’s fists clenched tighter, body preparing for a fight.
“I’m not sure a piece of your mind would get you very far.”  While Joey was attempting to intimidate the soulless bud-tender, a tall brunet in a white suit with a light blue oxford shirt had stalked up behind him and interrupted.
Joey spun on the toe of his well-worn red Nike’s. “An’ who do ya think you are?”
The brunet crossed his arms over his chest.  “Seto Kaiba, the license-holder for this establishment.”
Joey nervously ran a hand through his messy blond hair.  He hadn’t expected the shop owner to be so young.  Or attractive.  All of his fight drained from him.  In Joey’s decade of experience, rival dealers were rarely so… professional and polished.  Joey felt instantly underdressed in his varsity jacket and jeans.
“Uh… well, yer in territory that doesn’t belong ta ya!”  Joey stammered.
“Is that so?  I assure you, I have all required state and local permits,” Kaiba answered, blue eyes narrowing.  The taller man let a stray glance to Joey’s old, green Jansport backpack. “Perhaps if you had a better view of my inventory, we could have a more amiable business relationship.  I’m not trying to alienate everyone in my industry.”
It was insane, the way the taller man could knock the fight out of him without even trying.  Joey had never considered that his enemy would possibly seek to de-escalate the situation.  Joey nodded and followed the taller man to the back, hypnotized.  He maybe shouldn’t have smoked a bowl before raiding the enemy facility.
Inside an equally pristine office, Kaiba lit a pre-rolled joint and took a long inhale.  He passed it across the desk, the rolling papers poised delicately between his forefinger and middle finger.
Joey accepted the joint and took a hit.  After an impressive pause, Kaiba released smoke rings from his lips slowly, in that perfect practiced way.  The smoke dissipated softly, fading from tight circles and clouding the air.  With no windows in the room, it seemed that his intent was to hot box it.  Joey wondered idly how the white marble of the desk was so free from dust or ash if Kaiba took to smoking here.
Joey passed back the joint before releasing his breath in a round of hacking coughs.
While Joey was gasping for air and trying to gather his bearings, Kaiba produced a glass of water and a plain white ashtray.  He gently rested the joint on the edge.
“That was a proprietary strain—Blue Eyes White Dragon.  It’s Sativa.  I’m working on a hybrid model that has a significantly greater THC content.  But the current Blue Eyes plant has the highest percentage of CBD for Sativa plants currently on the market in Domino.  Thoughts?”  Kaiba unbuttoned his white blazer.
Joey’s eyes watered, and he managed to take a few sips from the glass.  “It tastes… unique.  Kinda minty?”
Kaiba nodded, raising the joint to take another hit.
“So, y’know, I came here to talk about ya encroaching on my business.  I’ve built up a book ‘a business in this part ‘a Domino, and I’m not gonna give up that easy!”  Joey said, straightening his shoulders.  He couldn’t tell if he was sitting up properly.  The world was already starting to feel a little warmer, fuzzier. His forehead sort of tingled like he had a third eye.
Once again, Kaiba blew out a series of flawless rings, staring into space.  The blue irises of his eyes were framed by smoke-induced redness.  “Yes, well, I have no intention of cowing to any threats.  I took this corrupt pharmaceutical company from my dead father, and I am turning it into something that can actually improve people’s lives.  And no puny street punk will stand in my way.”
“Oof.  Sorry for ya loss.”  Joey elected to ignore the last comment, as a gentleman.  And because, for the first time, he spotted a white holster tucked under the newly opened sport jacket.
“Don’t be, he was a bastard,” Kaiba said with a satisfied smirk.
Joey laughed at the insinuation.  He might’ve had more to say, under other circumstances, but Kaiba had shared the good shit.  Instead, the room felt a few degrees warmer than when he had entered and he removed his letterman jacket, revealing his toned biceps.
Kaiba was constructing another round of rings when his eyes met Joey’s sculpted arms.  His focus was completely dashed, and he ended up exhaling the rest of the smoke from his nose, like a dragon.
“Ha, ya see something ya like, rich boy?” Joey said with a signature grin, picking up the joint again.  It was already almost half-way spent.
Kaiba looked away dismissively.  “Irrelevant.  Mr. Wheeler, it was a matter of time before you paid my enterprise a visit.  As you have most likely noticed, there are certain elements of the trade in which I excel.  I am a gifted scientist, an expert businessman, and—”
“A robot?  You’ve had double the hits I have and ya won’t even crack a smile!  I dunno what yer tolerance has ta be, but ya ain’t human anymore.”
Kaiba rolled his eyes, tapping the joint against the ash tray to release some of the built-up cinders.  “There is a certain social element to this business that I have no interest in participating in.”
Joey leaned over a little in his chair.  “Is that so?”  He meant to have an interrogator’s pose and expression, but he was worried he just looked high as balls.
Kaiba passed the still burning joint across the table, little red ember barely emanating light in the bright white office.
“I would like to absorb your book of business and employ you as a bud-tender.”
Joey rejected the joint and cracked his knuckles, knowing that the action flexed his arm muscles.  An almost-imperceptible blush flashed across Kaiba’s cheeks.  “I’ve been my own boss, mostly, for a little while now.  Why should I be a glorified store clerk for ya?”
“You can’t possibly see this career continuing to serve you indefinitely.  You’ll need to go legit or go to jail.”  Kaiba lazily released one more puff of smoke before butting the joint.  “But, I am amenable to other arrangements.  What do you propose?”
Joey smiled at the suggestion.  “Partner.  It doesn’t haveta be fifty-fifty or anything, but I’ve built somethin’ up, and I know what I’m worth.  I gotta be making at least five g’s a month.”
Kaiba finally broke.  He laughed almost hysterically at the suggestion, doubling over and taking a full minute to get his breathing to settle.  “Yeah, ok.  That would be, maybe, a five percent share of the retail business.”
Joey stretched, resting his arms behind his head, giving Kaiba an eyeful of his tight white t-shirt and strong pectorals underneath.  “Ten percent of the retail company.”
Kaiba nodded, picked up his phone and typed away.  “The contract will be prepared presently.”
“Neato,” Joey said with a lecherous smile.  Everything felt soft, warm, comfortable—even if the room looked so sterile it could be used for a surgery.  “Now, what should we do with this time?”
Kaiba shifted in his seat and adjusted his light blue tie.
Joey leaned forward, planting an elbow on the desk.  “I got some ideas I think you’ll like, partner…”
Kaiba leaned over the desk as well, a small smile budding on his lips.  “Oh, already?”
“Yeah.  In this business, yer supposed to seal a contract with a kiss.”
“I do not think that’s custom—”
Joey closed the remaining distance and captured his lips in a searing kiss. Kaiba relaxed into the kiss almost instantly.  It was softer than Joey had expected.  Sweet and hot, with the flavors of mint, smoke, and cannabis on his partner’s lips.
Joey only broke it to walk over and climb into the brunet’s lap.
The contract was respectfully slid under the door.
Worth It- Pt. 2
Read Part 1
Summary: The reader has a brief encounter with Sean.
Characters: Marcel x black!reader, OMC x black!reader, Klaus x black!reader????
A/N: This part was really fun to write. I hope y’all enjoy it as much as I did to write it. Also, your girl is feeling a bit confident writing for Klaus so more fics with him might be coming soon. Happy holidays!
Tumblr media
“Listen just tell momma and daddy that they either need the get with the program or get left. Because a man as fine as Marcel Gerard is mmph!” Your sister, Bianca emphasized with a chef’s kiss. She was probably the only one in your family, who approved of your relationship with Marcel. Bianca always said love is love and anyone who tries to stop it is just bitter.
“But I do say, you should get a little taste of Sean. Marcel is a refined gentleman, but Sean is hoodnificent! Let him crack that back at least once.”
You stopped gathering the herbs around your shop, to pinch Bianca’s arm for suggesting something so outrageous. “Girl, are you crazy? Marcel will have the boy’s head on a stick, and I don’t even know what he looks like.”
“FIONNNE!” Bianca commented.
Both of you were too busy arguing with each other to hear the door chimes, but the voice that spoke got your attention. “Indeed, Marcellus would have the boy’s head on a stick. I taught him well.”
“Klaus, what are you doing here?”
He lingered around the shop, touching little trinkets, trying his best to intimidate you. “Imagine my surprise when I walk downstairs to see Diego and Thierry knocked out and you missing.” Now he was dangerously close, whispering into your ear, wrapping one your curls around his finger. “I do believe Marcel instructed you that you couldn’t leave the house without supervision.”
“Girl, add him to the list too. I bet he does all types of nasty things in the bed.” Bianca whispered into your other ear.
Klaus maneuvered his head around you to look at Bianca. He was giving her that famous smirk of his. “Would you like to find out?”
You moved in front of your sister to block her view of Klaus, because she would definitely take him up on his offer. “Nuh uh. None of that, you hear me?” You pointed at the two. “Anyway, the reason I ditched the bodyguards is that I have a business to run. A business that is frequented by witches. Witches hate vampires. So, don’t you think two vampire bodyguards, especially two that are Marcel’s best friends are bad for business?”
“Ok, then I’ll stay. I don’t need to suffer through Marcel’s groaning about how you were left unsupervised.”
“Oh no, you’re not! The witches hate you even more!” Your protest went unanswered as Bianca asked about his baby and he proceeded to show her pictures. Both ignored you, so you just went about your business as usual.
Customers would walk in and do a double take once they saw Klaus. Some would try to leave, but Klaus told them to ignore him and some would get over it and listen to him, but with others Klaus had to calmly threaten to remove their head from their shoulders for them to continue to shop. You didn’t know if you should be mad or grateful, but at the end of the day you were still making money.
It was getting close to closing time when a last-minute customer walked in. You were busy stocking the shelves, so you didn’t have a chance to see who it was. “Welcome, we’re about to close in ten minutes, but I can help you with whatever you need.”
You felt a tap on your thigh, and you looked down to see probably one of the most beautiful chocolate men you’ve ever seen. “I need you to get down, cher before you hurt yourself,” said the stranger. Before you could reprimand him for touching you, he put his hands on your hips and pulled you from the shelf.
“Who the hell do you think you are putting your hands on me?” Klaus watched the scene closely but didn’t intervene. He knew you could hold your own and would only get involved if necessary.
“I’m your fiancé,” he smiled, revealing a bottom row of a gold grill. Bianca was right Sean is hoodnificent. His attire was all black accented by gold jewelry. He had on a turtleneck and a gold chain and the Lord knows you’re a sucker for that combo.
Tumblr media
(Sean’s face claim)
You just noticed he had two other witches with him when Marcel, Thierry, and Diego burst through the doors. Sean lifted your hand to his lips, “Until we meet again, chérie.” With a blink of an eye him and the other witches disappear.
“Search the whole damn Quarter! I want him found!” Marcel ordered Diego and Thierry. When his eyes met yours, you knew you were in deep shit. He was at the level of pissed off that he didn’t even acknowledge Bianca or Klaus. He just grabbed your hand, shoved you into the car, and drove to the Mikaelson’s.
“Are you going to talk to me or continue to give me the silent treatment?” You were back at the manor, sitting at the dining table watching Marcel pace back and forth. He hadn’t said a word to you since you were in the car.
Nodding to yourself, you got up to leave. “Ok, the silent treatment. Let me take my black ass home then.”
Marcel moved in front of you and back you into your seat. “You’re not going anywhere.”
“Oh, ladies and gentlemen he talks!”
“Stop fucking trying me, Y/N.” Marcel warned you.
“Stop treating me like a fucking child then, Marcel!” Granted, you didn’t listen to his instructions, but you really tried. You lasted 3 days before you started getting antsy and tired of constantly being followed. Today was the sixth day when you made your escape and you felt that you could finally breath. “I can’t do it Marcel. I’m not meant to be locked up like some criminal.”
“You think that’s what I’m doing? All I’m trying do is save our relationship!”
“Like you do with New Orleans? Trying to stifle me and make me follow your rules? You know why my parents hate the idea of me dating you? Its because you ran the wolves out the quarter and forbade any witch from doing magic! You can’t control people like that. Its not right!”
“And your parents making you marry someone against your will is not the same?” He asked, getting closer to you.
Sneering your face, you replied, “Well, if you weren’t such a power-hungry asshole, they wouldn’t be making me.”
Marcel rolled his tongue around his mouth. “That’s how you really feel, huh? After knowing why, I forbade the witches from using magic?”
You cupped his cheeks, showing the first sign of affection since the incident at your shop. “I get why. You did it to save Davina but know she’s safe and you’re still trying to control everyone. New Orleans does not solely belong to just the vampires, or just the wolves, or just the witches. It belongs to everyone. But everyone is too damn selfish to see that. But hey, do what you gotta do. I’m gonna go to bed if that’s alright with you.”
Before you walked off, Marcel gave you a soft peck to your lips and murmured good night against your lips. No matter how pissed off he was at you, he couldn’t go without telling or showing you that he loved you.
“Now that’s the Queen of the Quarter,” Marcel heard Vincent say. Him and Klaus were standing next to each other, smirking at Marcel.
“How long have you two been listening?”
“Long enough to know that you better smarten up or you’ll lose the lovely Y/N to that witch or to someone more dashing.” Klaus informed him.
He ran up to Klaus and punched him in his jaw. “I’m not in the mood, Klaus.” Klaus got up and chuckle at him, not even mad that Marcel punched him.
“I can’t help it if your girlfriend is so charming.” Klaus teased some more.
Vincent shook his head and got in between the two vamps, before a real fight broke out. “Can you not antagonize him, man? Dude’s already on edge.”
Klaus sidestepped Vincent to get to Marcel. “Nope. Not until he tells us the real reason, he’s so mad.” Klaus circled Marcel, trying to gauge his reaction.
“He’s pissed because Y/N left, plain and simple.”
Raising a finger and ticking his head no, Klaus replied, “No, that’s not it. We all expected Y/N to break out. A woman like that, you can’t keep caged in.” Klaus stopped circling Marcel and stood in front of him, staring him down with a condescending smirk. “I wager the King of the Quarter was upset of the sight he saw tonight. It was but for a fleeting moment, but there, nonetheless. Y/N was intrigued by her witchy suitor. Before he thought of the witch as an annoyance, but tonight proved he might be more competition than he hoped for. Am I right?”
His nostrils flared as Marcel listened to Klaus correctly pinpoint his anger. When Marcel saw Sean’s hands on you and you not being immediately turned off made him worry. Sean was obviously closer to you in age and you both had similar upbringings. But the thing that worried Marcel the most was the one thing Sean could give you that he couldn’t, a baby.
“If I’m not back by the time Y/N wakes up, tell her I’m out doing business.” Marcel informed Klaus. He had to find and kill Sean before he could steal you away from him.
Shoot-em-Up Drabbles and such
Reading the Hardcore 101 Shoot-em-Up Vol. 2 book inspired me to quickly dash off this short Battle Garegga hurt/comfort fic. Translating and reading Japanese Battle Garegga fics has inspired me to try my hand at one. It also inspired me to headcanon the Wayne Bros as being rather sensitive types or 'cute' in a way. ;)
Content Warnings: Mentions of Torture, Eye trauma, and PTSD/Panic Attacks.
Brian groaned as he tried to flex his bound wrists as he dangled from a hook attached to the roof beams. The Federation’s ‘Supreme Investigator and Judge’ De La Costa cleaned the needles with a gold embroidered handkerchief. Dabbing a bit of rubbing alcohol on the cloth before he did so. He smiled a genuinely affable smile.
“I find sewing needles much more effective for my work. Don’t you?”
Brian remained silent.
De La Costa rose up, a few needles in the palm of his hand and said, “Now wouldn’t it be much more effective for you to tell us where the Garegga Series planes are hidden?” He slowly walked up to Brian, until he was close enough to trace a needle down his cheek, “It would be a shame if a genius engineer such as yourself lost an eye.” He hissed with sweet venom, “A mechanical engineer without sight would be worse than useless, wouldn’t they?”
Brian jerked awake, clutching his chest. His heart beating a million miles per minute and as he breathed in short, ragged gasps. Fever sweat forming on his brow and sliding down his face. His bandaged right hand instinctively covering his managed, taped-up eye.
Dear lord, what punishment have the Federation done this time? Brian thought as he instinctively hunched over as his fever spread through his body.
“Brian? Brian! You got to calm down. You’re having another nightmare!”
Jay? No, it couldn’t be the surprisingly youthful voice of his younger brother. The only good thing that happened during their botched attack on the rebuilt Black Heart Mk II was that Jay had managed to escape while he caused a diversion. Did what remained of the Federation had managed to capture him too?
“Brian? I need you to breath for me.” Jay said eerily calm, “On the count of four I want you to take a breath.”
It could be a trick, Brian’s interrogator could have forced a gun behind Jay’s back and told him to say those words so he could get him to talk.
Still, it wasn’t like he had any choice in the matter.
One…two…three…four. He took a deep breath. His heart slowed down as Jay said “Now hold for four more seconds.”
Brian slowly started to relax, the only thoughts in his mind was saving his little brother.
“Now exhale.”
His breath came out in a rush, followed by an ‘Uhhnn.” Jay’s voice saying “It’s ok, your safe now, far away from the Federation.”
Safe?
Never mind that, just focus.
“Okay, I need you to repeat. This is going to help you out a lot big brother.”
One, two, three, four, breathe in, hold, exhale, and repeat. A monotonous but soothing repetition which allowed him to settle down, his muscles sagging in relief. Then they started aching everywhere. Brian blinked his good eye several times before he opened it.
He sat in a small, sparsely decorated bedroom with sunshine pouring through the window next to his bed, warming him. The fresh, soft cotton sheets a cool and welcomed relief on his tortured body.
“Thank goodness I was able to help! You’ve scared me quite a bit Brian!” Jay said, wearing shirtsleeves with a few red-orange splotches on the front and a navy blue floppy hat with his flight googles on top of it.
“I’m really sorry Jay.” Brian managed to smile a little, “I must have scared you.”
“Oh, don’t worry about it Brian. I was just glad I could do something for you.” He replied, beaming with joy. He grabbed the bowl of soup on top of drawers and gently handed it to Brian. The smell of tomato and spices hit his nose. He breathed deeply, smiling again as the thought of a comforting meal pushed the nightmares away.
Brian looked down to see a steaming, thick liquid as Jason said “It should still be hot.” He took a spoon, winching a little as he scooped up a mouthful. It tasted nice, warm, and chewy as he tasted the savory citrus tang of tomato mixed in with bread, eggs whisked into little clumps, and thick pieces of salty bacon.
“I know we don’t eat a lot of red meat, but you need to build up your strength after…” Jason stopped speaking. Trying to put words to the incident brought images of a small farm smelling of decay and manure which hid a bloodied brother hovering near death.
The brothers stayed silent. No need to mention the ordeal now.
“This soup is pretty good.” Brian said, trying to lighten the mood.
“Oh it was nothing, just a bunch of stuff I threw together.” Jay replied.
“No, I appreciate it, you’re a lot stronger than you think you are Jay.” Brian said. Jason broke down crying much to his amazement.
“Damn it Brian! Don’t do anything stupid like that again!” Jay said as he came up and gently hugged him, “Didn’t it ever occur to you that I still need my brother?!”
Brian lightly hugged him despite the painful throbbing, letting his brother sob out his relief. Jay was just so glad his brother wasn’t killed in revenge by a Federation that didn’t know they had already crumbled into irrelevancy.
“Don’t worry.” Brian said, lightly pinching Jay’s nose with his fingers, “My little brother is pretty good at pulling my fat out of the fire.”
Jay laughed through his tears as he said “Cut it out Brian.” In mock whining. Brian chuckle in return, even if he did had a spasm of pain. It was good to be back home.
A different Connor, with a kinder face and no facial hair, a different Mia too for that matter, in a completely different place. Somewhere darker and grimier, as if the filter that seems to shine over Star City has been removed.
[When Dinah and Laurel restore the rest of FTA's memories, Mia and Connor talk through some of their issues... or at least they try to. It's a little hard when you have two lives' worth of memories in your head.]
The Miracle of the Avenging Angel by @realityisoverrated-fic | Arrow | One-shot
[An evening set between 6x03 and 6x04 because we all know these two couldn't keep their hands off one another]
Baby Daddy by more0rLessJess | Arrow | WIP
Oliver thought his days were going to be filled with partying, one night stands, and boys weekends while also spending quality time with the girl everyone kept telling him he was in love with. Until his ex-girlfriend dropped a baby on his doorstep who turned out to be his son. After a lot of thought and Felicity Smoak pep talks, Oliver decides to keep and raise his son with the help of his friends. Or the AU fic inspired by the Freeform sitcom Baby Daddy that no one asked for but I needed to write. Aka Oliver and Felicity are childhood friends and are hopelessly in love with each other and everyone knows but them, oh and now they’re raising a baby. What could go wrong?
It’s in the Air by @emmilynestill | Arrow | WIP
Summary: December 23, 2016. It’s Mayor Queen’s first-holiday party and love is in the air.
No, wait, that’s tension in the air. Bitterness. Regret. Painful longing for one’s former love. Awkward interactions with current significant others. A little humiliation mixed in. Yup, this was one great party.
Then the gas came.
Maybe love was in the air afterall.
**Just my usual lock Oliver and Felicity in a room with a mind-altering substance with a dash of holiday magic thrown in. And, by magic, I mean Sex Pollen. And maybe a little Truth Serum to stir things up.**
Always Been You by @smoaking-greenarrow | Arrow | WIP
Leader of the Russian mob Oliver Queen stumbles upon a piece of information that unfortunately requires a certain set of hacking skills that no one he knows seems to possess. Lucky for him, he comes across an unusual criminal hacker who has mysteriously turned up in Starling and funnily enough, seems just right for the job.
How's that for perfect timing?
All Her Firsts by @callistawolf | Arrow | WIP
The WIP Tag Game
Couple repeats, but I have more snippets for both of them so it’s fine.
Long post once again!
The Twins: Test of Redemption (old title) - Terraria - 2016
Ah, yes. My baby, and the bane of my existence. A piece that makes me both smile and cringe whenever somebody happens to find it on AO3. A piece that embarrasses me now because I didn’t know “sp*z” was a slur at the time and now I can’t figure out what to nickname Sp*zmatism thanks Re-Logic. And also embarrasses me because I couldn’t think of a better title. I didn’t even think it was a good title back then I just couldn’t think of another one. This story is a specter that sometimes leaves for a while, but occasionally returns to remind me of its existence, and when it does I look on it with as much fondness as I do shame. I had so much planned. To an extent, I still do. It sits in the back of my mind, waiting for me to get the courage to try again. Maybe I will someday, but for now it sits in a massive series of documents on my computer and Google. And here, now.
Randall and Sherwin Spencer, chosen heroes of Terraria, failed, and died. However, a pact Randall made with an otherworldly power both damned and saved them, and twenty years later, with the world shifting more violently than ever, the stars align to see them revived--without any memory of either of their past lives, man or monster. Guided by the displaced and irritable Keeper of the Underworld, who's trying and failing to remain low-key, the two eventually make their way to a refugee town founded by those the Spencers had abandoned long ago. And so their fight for Terraria begins anew, though now more difficult than ever with the Moon Lord trying to hinder them, the land's strengthening corruption pulling at their very souls, and a few key members of the Lunar Cult keeping a too-close eye on them, one of whom has more than a little bit of a bone to pick after a hasty decision invokes the Moon Lord's favoritism. Meant to be a story of companionship and family, hope and guilt, making up for mistakes and facing the people you hurt without running away, and saving the world--even when it's hard.
Okay, big spiel over, you can tell I still love this stupid thing. Have a bit I wrote slightly more recently (during NaNo 2018) of our green lad being outrageously stupid and summoning a boss, but it’s fine because the moon told him to do it, and then the boss screwed off because the cult told it to go and try to destroy the town so the twins didn’t have any support network. Instances of the character’s name have been replaced by [S]
The next orb was in another dip in the ground just before the main cavern closed itself off into a dead end. A grin spreading across his face, he swung practically before he even reached it.
This time, when the orb broke, dropping an odd-looking spear at his feet, the ground immediately began to rumble.
All at once, the gold light he’d been emitting winked out, leaving him in the purple-tinted darkness. He jolted as if suddenly waking from a dream, his thoughts quickly slipping back into focus as he leapt forwards to avoid being knocked down. A great quake shook the world around him, sending his teeth rattling in his head as he tried to figure out exactly where he was and how he’d gotten here.
He—he’d been on the roof, hadn’t he? The moon…but…how had he gotten here?
Another tremor. [S] grit his teeth and braced himself against the stone with both hands, hammer discarded at his side. He could swear he heard something in the distance; the earth turning, stone crunching, the low rumble of a creature’s roar…
The ground exploded behind him.
[S] scrambled forward, but found himself hitting the cavern’s dead end. He quickly pushed himself around to face the threat, and all the blood drained out of his face.
It was a titanic worm, thicker around than a man with mandibles the size of [S]’s head. Its skin was a sickly purple that almost blended in to the corrupted landscape, and it was covered in innumerable yellowed eyes, all focused directly on him with a look of absolute hatred as it rose up out of the earth, roaring loud enough to shake some loose stone from the walls.
[S] staggered backwards, back hitting the wall as he gaped up at the creature. Was this the worm he’d been told about? There was on time to worry about it—he was unarmed, he needed to get out—
The worm lunged forward with surprising speed, and [S] cried out as he launched himself to the side, back roughly smacking into the wall of the cavern. Hammer was quickly replaced with shield, and he scooped up the thin spear from the orb, testing its weight before plunging it down towards the worm’s body as it raced past.
The spear itself didn’t connect, but with a pulse of mana, it shot out a spike that made the worm roar in pain. [S] quickly dashed further down the cavern in an attempt to get more room to move as the worm burrowed itself into the ground, then burst out of the dead end towards him.
[S] quickly grappled the ceiling, feet barely an inch above the worm as it raced by underneath him, then burrowed back into the ground. Another roar shook the cavern, and the world around him rumbled and lurched, before the head of the worm popped out again above him, and its undulating body twisted up to try and encircle him.
Teeth clenched, he used the power of the shield to dash forward and past the worm, though it nicked him on his way by, causing him to hiss in pain and fumble his landing. He rolled along the ground until his head smacked into a Demon Altar, and stars shone in front of his eyes even as he struggled to get his legs back under him. He could hear the worm burrowing, hear it getting closer, closer, he forced himself up and started running without being entirely sure in which direction he was heading—
And then, the faint moonlight shimmering down from the surface seemed to brighten. The worm burst straight down vertically out of the ceiling where [S] had been standing, but it burrowed straight down into the floor without paying any mind to him. Its next appearance was traveling straight up, up, and out of one of the chasms, leaving [S] frozen as he watched it disappear and heard its roar fading into the distance.
A minute passed, then two, [S] listening intently to ensure the worm wasn’t about to come back. Three minutes later, [S] crumpled to his knees, gasping for the breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding and letting the shield and Vilethorn drop to the stone beside him. His hands reached up to his head, and his face twisted as a massive headache blossomed behind his eyes.
His mind was racing. What was he doing here? Hadn’t he been on the roof moments ago? What had made the worm so upset at him?
Why had it left? And…where was it going?
[S] pushed himself into a proper sitting position, throwing his head back, eyes shut. The allure of the Corruption had absolutely left him, replaced by fear and guilt. Just what had he done, and why? Had Ret been right? What was he supposed to do now?
Ungodly screeching and scrabbling from creatures deeper in the cavern snapped him out of his endless questions, and he scrambled to his feet. He—he couldn’t go back to Rifdale, not yet, so without thinking he ran, he ran until he reached an alcove where one of the orbs had been (he remembered that, somewhat, vaguely, it was difficult to tell) and curled up inside, staring up at the opening as some of the Corruption’s strange mandibled creatures tried and failed to figure out a way through the opening.
Once he was certain they wouldn’t get in, he buried his face in his arms. He wasn’t sure how long he was going to stay there, but if he hadn’t been able to face Ret before…he certainly wasn’t ready to now.
Dissonant Counterpoint - Crypt of the Necrodancer - 2017
Talked about here, but here’s another bit dated January 2018, from near the fic’s tragic end, immediately after the undead Fret’s been incinerated by a red dragon.
"It seems a shame to just leave you here like this. You did have so much...potential."
He wasn't sure how he could see or how he could hear--it was something beyond him, now, some sort of magical tomfoolery he'd never wanted to deal with. But he could see Octavian's boots in front of his face and could hear his constant song pulsing inside his head.
"Ah, don't worry. I think I'll be able to get you set up with something you'd like."
Anger flared again.
You don't know a single fucking thing about what I'd like, he thought, You don't know anything about me. You never did. You just know what you made up.
He wasn't sure how he could stand, either, but he did, compelled by a command. He stared at his former friend, who now looked somewhat uncertain and spooked. He wanted to yell, he wanted to scream, but words were something else beyond him.
He could see and hear when he shouldn't be able to. He could stand when he shouldn't be able to. He could live when he shouldn't be able to.
And yet whatever cruel joke the universe wanted to play on him still refused to let him speak.
"Still have nothing to say to me, old friend?"
The anger burned away, just like everything else had. And all it left was a grim, defeated sort of certainty.
His final act of defiance would be to give in.
He refused to give Octavian the fight he so clearly wanted. He would not let this man tease and torment him, control him however he liked and know he was still there watching it all in despair. He refused to despair.
He couldn't move on his own anymore. He was no doubt unidentifiable. No one would know it was him except Octavian.
How's it gonna feel to get everything you wanted? He wished he could somehow convey his own bitterness, but he was frozen. To know there's nothing more for you to do?...I bet you're gonna hate it. You always wanted to be something more. How's it gonna feel when there’s nothing left to be?
Octavian ducked out of his sightline, and then something was shoved into his hand; the familiar shaft of his halberd. His fingers closed around it, though he wasn't sure how that was possible. Octavian looked...perhaps the least bit upset.
"Er, here. I'll get you something better later. Come along."
The song pulled him forward behind Octavian as they walked deeper into the crypt and away from his own coffin. The only thing that made him question his decision was the thought of Maria--his weird little half-sister that he did care about so much--sick, dying, clutched by fever like he was and all because of him. If she came here...If he wasn't here...
But maybe it would still be better, because she and whatever ghosts she could conjure to her aid would destroy him. And then it would be a double loss for Octavian. Something he could never fix.
Give him hell for me.
But he was going to free himself. He would not let himself stay trapped here anymore.
...You win. How's it feel?
The song seemed to grow louder in his head, rattling him to the core, overwhelming him, and the anger came back, burning hot and bright, and he stopped. He saw Octavian turning back to face him in confusion.
In one final act, he gathered up all of his strength.
He threw his head back, and broke whatever curse had left him speechless.
And he screamed.
are ya winnin the puyo tournament son (doc name) - Puyo Puyo - October 2020
Talked about here, but have another bit.
“Yes? Did you need something?” She looks them over. “I don’t think I’ve seen you around here before. Are you new?”
Ajisai gives a small bow. “Yes, very much so. I only just arrived here a little while ago, but I heard that you were arranging a Puyo tournament--and that more than just the magic school students were able to participate. Is that true?”
Accord turns her head, glancing at them out of the corner of her eye. “Yes, though the prize will only be for students this year. We had some...unexpected guests vying for it last time, and I’d like for my students to have incentive to show what they’ve learned.”
“Of course.” They nod respectfully. “I’m not interested in the prize, but I would like to participate if I’m able. I’ve been told I have some skill.”
There’s a moment’s pause as Accord looks them up and down searchingly, then shares a glance with the cat. A sly smile spreads across her face as she meets their eyes. “So, you’re participating by yourself this time?”
Ajisai’s eyes widen slightly, but they manage to recover. “Ah...yes, yes I am. Good eye.”
Accord giggles. “You could say we have a nose for this sort of thing.”
“And we don’t trust mew,” the cat adds, baring its teeth.
Ajisai turns their focus to it, a hand to their chest in mock offense. They know what the cat’s about, of course. “You don’t trust me? Why, we’re practically family.”
The cat hisses, and Accord laughs again, though tries to hide it behind the feather of her cane. “He’s a bit high strung,” she offers, stroking the cat’s head with a finger--it appears to try and pout, but leans into the touch anyway. They’re almost positive they hear purring. Her gaze becomes serious. “Though I do hope you don’t intend to cause any trouble.”
“Of course not.” A hand over their heart, this time genuine. “My wits are about me again, and that is all in the past.” ...They can’t help a slight smirk. “...well, mostly. But I don’t want to cause any harm.”
Accord nods slowly, taking a second to judge their sincerity. “I’m going to choose to trust you.”
“I appreciate it.” Another, lower bow.
