Roswell New Mexico: New Mother
Let’s see what is going on with Michael and Maria, Isobel deciding to poison herself to get rid of the baby, Maria seeing Rosa and everything else that is going to happen.
The episode starts with the military finding some of the aliens. Which does not turn out well when some of the aliens attack back. One of the aliens is shot and runs away only to be found by the original Max. Max from the original series. I heard he was going to be on the show this season and I am a bit excited.
Michael is doing what he can to help Max while he is in the pod. Alex asks Michael’s permission to keep investigating his mother because Alex hit strong firewall which means people really don’t want that info out. Alex later visits his father and tells him that he was right about the aliens. How he is no longer with Michael.
Jenna, Max’s old partner found Maria’s mother walking down the street and brought her to hospital. Jenna talks to Michael about what happen to Max so Michael sends her to the lab where Liz is working. Liz explains to Jenna what she has been doing to get Max back. They later take a moment to have some drinks and shoot at the side of a building. Which causes to Liz to break down about everything. Max didn’t ask her about saving her sister he just did it.
Earlier Liz had given Rosa some art supplies to help her. When Rosa starts to hear Max when she is awake it causes her to drink more. Maria finds Rosa raiding liquor at the bar. Maria freaks out thinking she is turning into her mother. Rosa tells she’s not and about the aliens. When Michael comes to see Maria he finds Rosa and a very upset Maria who kicks him out. Rosa gets a dream from Max who says he is getting stronger and can feel Isobel and she is in trouble. Rosa calls Liz about Isobel.
Isobel took a higher dose of the poison because the microdoses she had been taking have not been working. Isobel hallucinates Max talking to her. Max telling her that she is going to get herself killed. He also tells her it won’t matter if she id doing everything to become stronger if it means she dies. He wouldn’t want to come back to a world without her in it. Sheriff Valenti interrupts Isobel hallucinations to go over somethings found on Noah’s body. Isobel brings out a sex toy box to show the Sheriff. Apparently they were into some kinky stuff. This scared hallucination Max. Max told Isobel she would be a great mom but she can’t have Noah’s kid. Isobel feels like the only one here for her is herself. At this point Isobel has miscarried and Max urges Isobel to take the antidote but as she tries to grab it she falls and knocks her head on the table.
Liz got to Isobel and was able to save her with antidote. Liz and Isobel had moment and Liz tells Isobel that Max was there for her and the one to help save her.
When Liz goes to visit Maria at hospital, Maria is upset with Liz for keeping it from her. Especially since she mourned for Rosa as well. Maria would visit her grave every month and even helped clean it. Maria put her necklace on her mother to protect her from all the bad things have been happening to her. Mimi doesn’t remember where she had been but she had boots on that were hers. We all know Mimi likes to walk around barefoot.
Alex pays Michael a visit because he found some information. It seems original Max’s name is Tripp. The alien he found is probably Michael’s mother Nora. Nora was able to get the gun away from Tripp and get away from him. They found her a few hours later with the military vehicle she took. Tripp puts down his weapons and tells Nora he will help her because she is injured. Tripp then grabs Nora from behind and calls the team in. A siren alien jumps and in helps before she was shot. Nora was able to get the other alien into the truck and get away. Inside the truck were the pods that held the babies. The question is if the other alien is Max and Isobel’s mom. Michael shows Alex a news article with his mom in the picture where she won a pumpkin contest. How did she go from the crash to the pumpkin contest to being in captured. We see Nora and the other alien arrive on the doorstep of the man we saw in the pumpkin context picture. He offers to help them.
There was a lot going on in this episode. Maria’s mom is back but no one has any idea what happened to her. Maria now knows about the aliens. She has every right to be pissed off especially after Noah controlled her. It seems whatever Michael did is helping Max get stronger. Hopefully this will stop Rosa from medicating with alcohol to keep Max away.
Of course the cute moment between Michael and Maria when he made her breakfast. His relationships must always be mentioned. Alas Maria and Michael have hit a road block already with fact Michael has been keeping the fact he is an alien a secret. I am sure we will be seeing more of Maria and Michael because this town has a way from bring people around each other.
Isobel got her wish and lost the baby with that back alley coat hanger method she was trying. I really liked that line when Max said it because what she was doing was not all that different. At the same time she needed to do what was right for her and Roswell had no options for her. I appreciate her seeing Max when she needed him. People rarely talk about how when someone is going through a tough time sometimes it helps them to talk to someone even if its in their mind.
I wonder if the second alien was Max and Isobel’s mother or was she the mother of a different one. It looked like there were 4 pods in the truck. Anyone who has read the books and watched the original knows there was a 4th alien, Tess. We still have not seen her but there was mention of a Tess in the first season. I am sure like everyone else I would love to know what happen to Michael’s mom during that time. I am sure she was captured because of the newspaper article. How did everything happen and did the guy help take care of the pods after she was gone? I am curious about them all having a different power and do the kids inherit the parents?
I guess we have to keep watching to find out and next week looks like it will interesting looks like Rosa will be revealing herself to her dad.

Roswell New Mexico ep 1.09 liveblog Songs About Texas
Listen I don’t care that I’ve never done a liveblog about this show before. I love it. I watched the original. I like this one better. Do not watch if you don’t want my buzzed cursing and spoilers and flailing. Because I curse and flail and spoil. it was an accidental liveblog because I was messaging a friend of mine who watches but was not caught up. So I didn’t want to spoil her until she said it was fine and then it became no holds barred. Do I edit it or let you see my terrible typing while I watch a show and drink a beer in the afternoon?
Ahh. Get it unfiltered.
me--all right. i'm watching the roswell episode
buddy--We had a rather intense work meeting How’s the Rowell episode Roswell*
me-- just started. idk. did you see the last episode? omg i like all these character so well
Buddy--No I’m so behind
me--well then i can't tell you marias not as quirky. i liked the last maria a lot oh i like all these characters. the female sheriff? i like her too can we please have a maria/alex/michael love triangle? please? no wait not love triangle. ot3 polyamory please
buddy--Lol your commentary is awesome
me--michael is canon bi. it works. maria and alex can just be nonsexual partners and share micheale he's SO cute IF YOU HAD KEPT UP TO DATE I COULD GIVE YOU BETTER COMMENTARY
buddy--YOU CAN SPOIL ME
[buckle up I just go IN]
me--they're going to see a faith healer they're wondering if she's an alien. max and michael went to see if she did that, but liz and maria went to see if she could heal maria's mom who is crazy. the female sheriff went to ALEX instead of his father who is trying to get her to out max. she found a handprint death and thiks there's a conspiracy and she doesn't trust alex's dad who is blackmailing her to surveil alex. wait why is MARIA going with Michael to heal his broken hand that was smashed by Alex's dad because he cauthg them together. oh wait. liz is talking to max PERSONAL SPACE MUCH? michael is funny. "That feeling babe is naivetee" wait why does michael care about maria? oh she's a fake healer. oh. they just did an indigenous appropriation comment. wait grandma is like, 'they were asking about the sigil?" i love his show confession. i'm on my second beer. michael stole from the scamming healer. liz doesn't care
buddy--Ah feeling a little loose?
me--michael is funny casual let's say better than anxiety oh they just made a cut about healthcare. this show is awesome maria is singing alanis morisette!
buddy--Oh hey I don’t judge at allI can’t go that route or my family would start raising eyebrows
me--i'll probably have to watch again because i'm getting buzzed wait why is michael flirting with maria stop it michael if you're just teasing poor max is moping wait maria's making max sing with her i love max, michael, maria and liz together. oh now we have alex, the female sheriff, and liz's ex boyfriend. i like them too but he thinks the murderer is isobel but it's not i bet it's someone else.
buddy--No I can’t imagine it’s that simple
me--i think there's another alien out there killing people and taking control of isobel which means she didn't kill rosa but whoever controlled her did I'm REALLY gonna need michael to stop flirting with maria because i used to ship maria and michael and he made me ship michael and alex. michael is both hot and funny at least we get some max and liz bonding. oh no there's a motel across the street!!!!!! girl sheriff just got told her ex bf max is an alien
this show is great
Oh god lol Is everyone in this town in love with max evans? says liz's ex bf what's his name?
buddy--Dude come on you know the answer to that I think Kyle
me--lol kyle yes that's right uh oh needed to rewind the lol line and i rewound too far. atleast i get to see max and liz again wow how far did it rewind? I guess I'm pushing my kids "clean up your room at 4" back a little bit. wait we're back to alanis again? maybe my buzzed rewinding is making it so i don't need to watch again btw maria can sing wait michael TOTALLY checked out maria stop that! liz is falling in love wth max wait lol line coming up. in love wih max evans DId you just threaten to tattle to our parents Jenna? Manes or the Sheriff. now she's about to find out Max is an alien. wait. the female cop is Jenna. it skipped to the previous commerical l why would it do that? michael and maria flirting again. listen stop playing with my heart. WHICH ONE?Maria or Alex? they're so cute Liz suggests the hotel. She jus tlooked at Max with love in her eyes If there's only one bed i will die Jenna freaking out about Alien Max wait here's the line. Kyle annoyed because everyone is in love wih Max evans. Alex says, "angsty nerd isn't my type even though he is tall." Kyle says, "Is angsty COWBOY?"lol
buddy--Lol
me--btw remember kyle used to be a homophobe
buddy--Ohhh right
me--uh oh. Kyle has info too. Alex is investigating. Alex, Kyle and Jenna are a good team. Alex wants to take over project shepherd.
STOP!! THEY ONLY HAVE ONE ROOM AT THE MOTEL!!!!
buddy--LOL
me--Oh no lol
KING SIZE BED ITS THE JALAPENO ROOM REAL SPICY that is an actual quote from actual canon
buddy--LOL What?!
me--LOL YES LITERALLY But the clerk found anothe rroom I think Wait wait before he found the room
"It's fine, I can sleep in the truck" max "ITS FINE WE"RE ADULTS" liz
LOL OMG THERE WAS ONLY ONE BED
buddy--LOL Oh the kiss of death
me--lol but they're teasing he finds another room lol. i'm crying with laughter is it the beer or is it really funny? i have to pause and let myself laugh even though the other room is called The Alamo room. "Which one of you is into mass carnage? i love this show Lol rewind i need to see that again WF WTDF WTF i can't even curse without typos IT LITERALLY JUST DID THAT just cut to liz alone in a giant bed. halepenos. real spicy. she's tossing and turning i am pausing with liz tossing and turning because I DONT BELIEVE IT i know how to spell jalapenos. i'm not a good typist especially when watching tv

me--THey cut from Liz tossing and turning in the jalapeno room to max tossing and turning in the alamo room. THIS IS A FUCKING FANFIC neither of them could sleep. YOU COULDN"T GET COMFORTABLE BECAUSE YOU SHOULDA BEEN IN THE SAME BED YOU FOOLS
buddy--LOL CLASSIC
me--Max wants to be a healer, he tells liz. or thinks he should because he's seen people die in his job. She's the only one he's saved."Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown." quoting henry the iv. dorks. he just gave her his coat uh oh liz doesn't hate max anymore. she was mad at max becuase he lied to her, he broke her heart. shades of bellarke LISTEN YOU ASKED FOR THIS LIVEBLOG isn't there a writer for this show that used to be on the 100 is it the sisters?
buddy--YEA
me--mother fuckers
buddy--Oh lord almighty
me--i have to keep taking breaks because i can't handle it
buddy--Well I know what I’m watching when I get home
me--they are literally bellarke after coming back together. llz felt betrayed like clarke felt betrayed over madi if i press the wrong button it goes CRAZY on the rewind. it just went all the way back to the fake healer liz wanted to share a bed. she hated the alamo room this is SO fanfic romantic THis is so bellarke even how she walks away kyle and alex are bonding over aliens. but kyle doesn't believe they are terrorist threats. maria and michael are bonding over being shitfaced come on michael OH MY GOD HE KISED HER SHE KISSED HIM BACK OH DOWN THEY GO DAMMIT THIS WAS NOT IN MY PLANS OT3 or bust do NOT mess around with my maria and michael if you're not going there
Faith healer again. This time Max is there with the grandma. The grandaughter is scamming but the grandma knows something. Faith healer wants to see max striptease lol. grandma tells her to get in the car. Grandma calls him a loud white cop lol He shows her his tattoo. Grandma knew someone like him. Sh enever spoke until the day she died. "He has arrived so I may leave." She thinks Max is who she said.
Oh Maria and Michael. "Here's the deal. Never happend. Tell no one." He told Max and Liz or maybe not.STOP FLIRITNG YOU"RE KILLING ME
"I could never hate you" max says to Liz. And she doesn't believe his version of her."youre always muttering in spanish like it's some secret language no one understands but you. hello. we're in new mexico. we all speak spanish."He sees her faults. And he loves her Easily KILL ME NOW STOP WITH THE SUNFLARES WOW SHE REALLY YANKS HIM BACK TO KISS HER HOLY SHIT THAT"S ROMANTIC REWIND HE SEES HER. oh he takes her hands and tells her she thinks that being more perfect than her sister she's easier to love but he sees her fautls and he loves her easily" Is it so crazy that I believe in you too?" I just know. Oh god THAT IS . A FUCKING GOOD KISS. She has her hands all over him
buddy--Sorry a coworker was talking to me

me--he says, "come on I'll drive you home" and starts walking away and she's like THE FUCK YOU WILL YOU AMAZING MOTHERFUCKER YOU"RE GOING TO KISS ME I"VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR TEN YEARS. I could literally keep rewinding that all day but I realize I need to know what comes next commercial break ends. omg they're still kissing Now they're breathing. Why he asks. "I ran out of reasons not to. Was it whorth the wait?" He says it was worth the wait SOMEONE'S WATCHIN GWHO THE FUCK IS THAT? WHO THE FUCK IS-- WAIT THATS ISOBELS HUSAND HE sees the eggs He sees isobel in the egg.
kyle and liz. her cure works but the thinks isobel is the murderer. the husband tells the sheriff that isobel is in rehab. he's lying. Kyles father was killed by an alien too.

Thanks her for solutions for Isobel. She thinks there's a fourth alien in roswell because she knows the murders were aliens but not isobel because isobel hasn't had a blackout since Rosa. I told you there was another murdering alien.

TVD 2x20 Review
1. “No, Bonnie can’t break the curse without dying.” “I’ll write her a great eulogy!” I won’t lie, I did like Ian’s delivery here but also, Elena’s “It’s not an option, Damon.” is like, you’re like super chill with how much he wants to kill your best friend. Legitimately, there should be a moment where she snaps and is like OK ENOUGH or he shouldn’t be a part of the conversation at all. It’s weird that they’re even letting him have a say about this. I get why Stefan would because as he said, his love for Elena is what keeps him protecting her and he wants all the protection for Elena he can get and he keeps Damon in his lane when it comes to Bonnie, but Elena should be a lot more outraged than she is.
2. So guys, if Elijah has an elixir made by witches that is supposed to bring Elena back to life, maybe have Bonnie look at the elixir?
3. “The ring only works on humans, the doppelganger is a supernatural occurrence...” but Elena is human, though, she is a human doppelganger, that’s bad dialogue, it should just be “The ring only works on non-supernatural humans.”
4. "What do you want me to do, Damon, Elena made her choice!” He wants you to disregard it and put your own feelings above hers, Stefan.
5. Matt and Caroline were super cute. Seriously.
6. “She’s not the same, she’s a vampire.” “At this point, I don’t even know what that means”. Exactly, though. They’re SO bad at differentiating.
7. “Damon is the problem, not Caroline. We should focus on him.” I mean seriously, though. Killing Damon would legit solve so many problems.
8. It also makes no sense that Elena would go upstairs to find Damon. HE KILLED YOUR BROTHER AFTER TRYING TO FORCE HIMSELF ON YOU. How much time has gone by since then? A month? Two? And you’re just OK?
9. Nina legit looks super young in comparison to Ian.
10. “I can’t lose you.” “You won’t.” He should though.
11. And then he force feeds you his blood. Kind of like how you said “I care about you” and then he killed Jeremy because it wasn’t exactly what he wanted. When things don’t go his way, he enacts violence on Elena through violation and we just NEVER talk about it.
12. This fight between Damon and Stefan is so telling because Stefan is winning and Damon is a little bitch about it and STABS him. Also, legitimately, they’re two vampires fighting, there should be cracked walls and floors from all the force.
13. I also love how focused on each other Stefan and Elena are. Like Elena’s just been forced to drink vampire blood but Stefan has a stab wound so she’s focused on comforting him and getting him better, Stefan is in a lot of physical pain but Elena’s been forced to drink vampire blood so he’s focused on apologizing for what happened to her.
14. Oooooh quasi-topless Stefan scene. Also, super subtle but cute that Elena’s hand is on his leg.
15. Jenna and Alaric, oh how I do not care.
16. Also Stefan always gets Elena to do a little smile.
17. Aw, charged glances between Tyler and Caroline. Great chemistry.
18. “I screwed up.” Oh, Damon, tattoo it on your forehead.
19. Joseph was super skinny.
20. “Thanks for the loner, mate.” LMAO. What a dickish thing to say to the dude whose body you possessed.
21. I love how DE fans/Damon fans try to say that Damon saved Tyler’s life this episode and therefore that shows growth when actually what happened was that he wanted to take “the werewolf” out of the equation for the ritual to postpone it so the vampire blood could pass out of Elena’s system and she wouldn’t spend an eternity hating him.
22. See, this is how you challenge someone. Stefan doesn’t push Elena to talk but he gives her the space and the time by climbing up a waterfall, he makes her feel safe but he also pushes her to be vulnerable through the climb itself.
23. I don’t get this. Damon advances on Katherine and she backs away like “hey, hey, hey” why though, you’re not weakened, you’re just compelled by Klaus so you could easily defend yourself against Damon, he is a BABY vampire. It’s always so transparent when the writers try to make someone seem more menacing and/or powerful than the narrative states they are.
24. “Those witches vervained me.” Caroline, should you not be drinking vervain everyday? Being a vampire in this town?
25. “Tyler, you shouldn’t have come back here.” No shit, Caroline, he’s chained up across from you.
26. “What’s the worst part of becoming a vampire?” “You know the worst.” “Besides from the blood.” But Damon taught Elena the worst parts of being a vampire tho.
27. Klaus keeping Katherine around makes no sense.
28. Klaus, you’re not holding the coffee mug but its handle so it doesn’t look as menacing as it should.
29. Why wouldn’t the witch just stake Damon? Lol.
30. Damon, was it really necessary to knock Matt unconscious?
31. “But our future, our lives together...” legit, Elena did think about a future with Stefan, she just didn’t have everything mapped out at 17 which is understandable and realistic. Her awareness of that would be more realistic if they made her breakdown more realistic and not related specifically to the possibility of her becoming a vampire and about the entire situation in general.
32. Yeah, Nina’s crying is acceptable.
33. LOL OK, let me see if I got this straight, the sun was up when Damon is in the cellar rescuing Caroline and Tyler and he stops and tells Tyler “don’t make me regret this.” Cut to Elena and Stefan and the sun is setting during their talk. Cut back to Damon and the others and they’re JUST getting out of the tomb and it’s night with a full moon??? CONVENIENT. How fucking LONG does it take to get out of the tomb?
34. It also doesn’t make sense for everyone to go help Tyler chain himself up. Matt is a human, Caroline should’ve taken him home or Damon should’ve taken him home.
35. Aww, the Stelena love cue playing during their goodbye scene.
36. And still a much more moving goodbye than the Steroline goodbye in 8x16.
37. I also love that Elena smiles when Stefan says he loves her despite going to her “death”.
38. “I’ll take care of it.” Will you, though?
39. It also makes no sense that they all watch Tyler transition, they could’ve run, it’s not insensitive, he could kill them. They just wanted Damon to get bit.
40. “What is this, Damon?” “A werewolf bite.” DUN DUN DUN.

PLL Wishlist: How I Hope Pretty Little Liars Will End
BEWARE: SPOILERS AHEAD
After a 7 year rollercoaster of plot twists, multiple fake deaths, creepy A/A.D. messages and a lot of lies, Pretty Little Liars is coming to an end. Although I am sad that it’s over, on the other hand, I’m glad it is. It was starting to get a bit messy if you ask me. Here’s how I hope PLL will end.
The Couples
Let’s get the least important stuff out of the way. I always feel with shows like this the mystery comes first, all the romance second. Who would I love to end up together?
1. Haleb (Hanna & Caleb). They have been my favorite ship since the beginning. Now, they’re actually married! Wasn’t how I ever expected Hanna to get married, but it was cute. 2. Spoby (Spencer & Toby). Love them! Although they hooked up like 2 episodes ago after Toby was engaged to Yvonne, who is now dead (another irrelevant character created by the writers of this show) and Spencer dating Caleb (why?). I just don’t see Spencer with anybody else, but with Toby or nobody at all. They are perfect for each other. 3. Emison (Emily & Alison). I don’t know about these two. I feel like I liked them together in the early seasons of the show, but now it’s just so messed up. The whole Ali being pregnant with Emily’s baby, because somehow Emily’s eggs were planted in her uterus (we still don’t who the father is and I honestly couldn’t care less). I think it seems a little forced these two. But I don’t see both of them with someone else (except Emily with Maya, but she’s dead). 4. Aria. I’m not big on Ezria at all. Why? First of all, the teacher dates the student. It’s just inappropriate. Even if they met before he was her teacher. The moment he became Aria’s teacher, it should have ended. Secondly, the book. Ezra literally used Aria for information since the moment they met. Yes, he fell in love with her, but that doesn’t make it okay all of a sudden. I still can’t believe Aria forgave him for that and is now engaged to the guy. Aria gave up so much to be with this guy, while he has been lying to her since the start. Pretty sure Ezria will get married in the finale, but if it doesn’t happen, I’ll be throwing a party. Can Aria just be with Jake? You know, her martial arts teacher back in season 4. Or alone #IDontNeedAMan
Unanswered Questions?
Isn’t PLL known for this? Just kidding. So much has happened on this show, that I don’t even remember all of it. Which is why I started re-watching the old seasons. Here are some things that I’m still confused about and hope will be answered in the finale (pretty sure 90% won’t be, but there’s always hope).
1. Whatever happened to Jason? We last saw him in season 7 episode 7. Which isn’t too long ago, but he is still shady. What does he know about all of this and did he have a part in any of it? 2. What’s Melissa and Wren’s part in all of this? We know Melissa buried Bethany, but what’s up with her and Wren? Are they together? What are they guilty of? Wren and Melissa are both in the finale, so we’ll hopefully get some answers. 3. What happened to the NAT club? Back in season 1-3, there was the mystery around the NAT club with Garret, Jason, and Ian. Well, 2 of them are dead and the other has been pretty absent from the show. So did I miss something or has the NAT club storyline been dropped all of a sudden? 4. Why was Archer Dunhill hiding his British accent? Is he connected to Wren somehow? 5. Who shot Spencer in the mid-season finale of season 7? We saw Jenna with a gun, but we never actually saw her shoot. My bet is on A.D. 6. What’s the deal with Jenna? Remember when A.D. got Jenna in a van after Spencer was shot? At the end of the episode, A.D. gave Jenna a lot of pages in braille that she was reading. What did it say? Does Jenna know who A.D. is? Is she working with him/her? 7. Why did Eddie Lamb recognize Aria while she was volunteering in Radley? Pretty sure everyone remembers Eddie from Radley. But how does he know Aria? Was she a patient there? I still think Aria is shady, she was pretty quick to turn on her life long besties this season. Those “Aria is A.D.” theories aren’t there for nothing.
Till “Death” Do Us Part?
I’m 100% sure someone is going to die. I don’t think it’s going to be any of the girls. I don’t think it’s going to be one of the boys either. So who is? I couldn’t tell you, but it better not be Mona. Mona is probably my favorite character in the show right now. I feel like the girls still see her as the villain. How many times does Mona have to save/help them for them to see she is looking out for them?! Seriously she would die for Hanna and she still treats her like crap. Also, how can you not love Mona after how she looked at that game? Find someone in life who looks at you the same way Mona looks at A.D’s game.
Who is A.D.?
The million dollar question. I think it’s Spencer’s twin, all the theories I have seen are pretty convincing and make a lot of sense. I really started believing in it when “Spencer” was meeting Wren at the airport. There was no way Spencer went from that house she was supposed to meet Mary Drake (but Marco Fury showed up because he followed her) to meet Wren at the airport in that short period of time. Also “Spencer” was really nervous there and asked Ezra (who saw her with Wren) not to mention this to anyone. Now that’s really shady if you ask me. I don’t know who the real Spencer or the twin is, but I definitely think she has a twin and that twin is A.D. I do hope this is not the case. I just feel like it wouldn’t be shocking, but if they do make it fit with everything that has happened I would be ‘okay’ with it.
What I want is to be as shocked when we found that Mona was A, Toby was on the A team, Spencer was on the A team & when Ezra was A (well not really, but that’s what we all thought). That’s the shock level I want. This is the series FINALE. I want it to be someone we have known throughout the whole show, someone who has been shady af since the beginning.
Today in the US and tomorrow for me, we can finally say goodbye to Rosewood and never look back to that messed up town.
But with all the messed up stuff that happened these past 2 seasons I really do love this show and consider it one of my favorites. So it’s bittersweet that it’s ending.
Thank you PLL for the crazy rollercoaster that was this show!
Stay Flawless!
Kisses,
A.
PS. Who else will be watching the finale like Pam Fields?

Dear PLL fandom,
I had no idea what I was getting myself into seven years ago on June 8, 2010 when the Pilot episode of Pretty Little Liars aired. I hadn’t read the books and I definitely hadn’t watched anything religiously on ABC Family. There was Greek, but that was on and off and no other original show on the network was able to captivate me.
My favorite show Smallville announced its final season, Gossip Girl was in between the 3rd and 4th season and another favorite, Glee, was finishing its first season. But let’s face it, I was turning 21 and still much into those teenage, coming of age shows. Plus, Ashley Benson was my favorite (and still is). And as a huge fan, I had to support my girl!
https://twitter.com/itsadeleee/status/15542729584
So then the day came, the Pilot began and I was hooked. It started with 4 young girls starting a new school year one year after the leader of their pack went missing. The episode introduced us to the characters we’ve loved for seven seasons.
We were first introduced to Aria Montgomery, the artsy girl who went through a little goth phase, returning to Rosewood after one year in Iceland with her family. During that year, she held on to one huge secret: her dad’s affair with his student. Things also get complicated when she hooked up with her future English teacher, Ezra Fitz. The eye contact the two share during the revelation was one of the most iconic scenes of the series.
Next came Emily Fields, the sweet girl on the swim team, with the popular jock boyfriend. I’d like to think she was part of a conservative family, with her mom part of the neighborhood welcoming committee and her father in the army. Life gets a little complicated when she is constantly reminded of [her love for] Alison, while a new girl moves into Alison’s old house. Sexuality is questioned and in a small town like Rosewood, that’s unheard of.
Spencer Hastings then graced us with her presence. She was almost the epitome of overachiever. With the Hastings name, you’ve got to be especially with Melissa Hastings as an older sister. Spencer was the girl involved with everything, intelligent and outspoken. She was striving for good grades to get into an ivy league college and follow in the footsteps of her lawyer parents. But then she strayed away from the perfection, when Melissa’s boyfriends decided that she may be the better Hastings daughter.
And then there was Hanna Marin, formally known as “Hefty Hanna”, who transformed over one summer to become one of the most popular girls in school. She lived in the shadow of Alison DiLaurentis. Getting body shamed by her “close” friend, her confidence and self esteem was low. Her father leaving her and her mom didn’t help, either. So Hanna’s motto was practically, “new year, new me” and with her new popular girl title along with a trusty sidekick, Mona Vanderwaal, she was able to step out of Alison’s shadow. But the whole problem was maintaining her top spot and getting the attention she longed for. Hanna Marin will always be my favorite character.
What did those 4 girls have in common? Alison DiLaurentis, the girl who knew all of their secrets. However, she was the girl they knew nothing about. She was the glue to the group up until she disappeared, but that suddenly changed when “Alison’s body” was found and an anonymous stalker decides to start playing mind games with the girls. Alison’s “death” brings the girls back together and just like that the Pilot set the whole premise of the show.

For seven years, Pretty Little Liars ruled social media. They’re practically known to be the most social television show on air, with so much social media engagement from fans. It’s safe to say that it was the pioneer of trending topics when it came to TV shows and live tweeting along around the world. It allowed fans and those involved with the show to communicate with each other. Every Tuesday since it has aired, fans have been able to get PLL trending with hashtags like #PLL, #WhoIsA, #betrAyal, #WorldWarA, #Poor[Insert character name], etc. And of course the main hashtag for this season, #PLLEndGame, which tailored not only to the game, but obviously to the PLL relationships. #Ezria, #Spoby, #Haleb, & #Emison. I was only a year into Twitter by the time the show aired, and it definitely had me talking and more active on the web. The downside was all the spoilers. But I didn’t have an issue – I absolutely loved/love spoilers.
I think people have learned over the years, that if you don’t want to be spoiled, you better stay off social media until you watch the episodes. It’s so much more fun to live tweet. That’s why I ended up having a separate twitter just for that fact.

Since the Pilot, I’ve stuck through it and my obsession for television grew stronger as I dedicated a new Tumblr to my love for entertainment: PrettyLittleGossipGleek. The name was fitting for me as it was three shows on air that I absolutely loved that made me feel more like me. I started to make gifs and fanart of my favorite moments, something I enjoyed doing and something that kept my mind off of reality. One time TvGuide used one of my gifs, #ganstAtoby, and to this day, I’m very proud of it. HAHA
Pretty Little Liars always had me at the edge of my seat with all the cliffhangers and kept my mind going, thinking of all the possible outcomes to the question,”Who is A?” I think that anything that gives you several mind f**ks is worth watching.
I watch a lot of television, and very rarely do I dream about them. Pretty Little Liars was an exception. I dreamt about running away from “A”, so obviously the show managed to sneak it’s way into my sub conscience.
But enough about me..
To the endgame couples —
Ezria: For a long time you were my favorite #PLL couple. The chemistry was unreal. I’ll never forget the first time Aria and Ezra met and the look of shock a few days later in Mr. Fitz’ English class. You were a forbidden love, like Romeo and Juliet, sneaking behind everyone’s back. It was starting to get toxic because you were holding each other back. And then the love story took a turn when Ezra was revealed to be stalking the girls for inspiration for a novel. True feelings were tested and you both entered intoseveral other relationship, but in the end you found your way back to each other. To all the haters, stop. It started off as a relationship based on lies, but the truth is that they make each other happy.
Spoby: Your relationship didn’t start from the beginning and I think that’s what drew me in to you. I’m not going to pretend that I didn’t love Alex for Spencer in the first season. I loved them and their somewhat forbidden love, but Alex left and the relationship with Toby came out of nowhere. As I rewatched the first season, it’s clear that Spencer had strong negative feelings towards Toby. Toby was that creepy bad boy that hardly said a word, so it’s understandable. He was a suspect in the murder of Alison DiLaurentis for goodness sake. That didn’t go well with a lot of people, but Spencer, you sympathized with him and gave him a chance. Sure, you took a French tutoring job just to find answers about Alison, but I’m sure you didn’t expect to fall in love with Toby. I’m sure you didn’t expect to even like or understand him. A part of me thanks Emily for somewhat bringing you two together. When your relationship was threatened by “A”, you kind of gave up easily. You both tried to protect each other, doing things that broke the trust you built. Eventually you grew up and realized maybe you weren’t meant to be in each other’s future as a significant other. Your break up was by far the worst. It broke my heart the most, especially with the possibility that you weren’t endgame. But fate has a funny way of working and in the end, you two still shared a love for each other. That’s all that matters. In my head you make it. You were #RelationshipGoals.
Emison: You made it from beginning to end, but not without the ups and downs and occasional mind games. Emily was always so sure of her feelings for Alison. The latter not so much. Honestly, I was never really a fan of any of Emily’s girlfriends (well maybe Samara because I love Claire Holt). I always thought that Alison would one day return Emily’s feelings. But I admit, it was an unhealthy relationship. When they were young, Alison always led Emily on. She gave her hope that wasn’t really there. I mean, Alison always had Emily wrapped around her finger and Emily constantly forgave the girl. But that’s the thing about Emily, she sees the best in people and gives them [constant] chances even if they do her wrong. Although the pregnancy was pretty messed up, I’m happy that it brought the two of you together along with two cute Emison babies. Along with some instigating from Paige, it helped Alison realize her feelings for her best friend. That proposal was the cutest thing because come on…I think we all thought Emily would’ve been the one to propose. AND how cute was it that Pam gave Alison her blessing? I guess you could say you’re soulmates.
Haleb: I remember when you two first met. You were practically bickering like an old married couple and to this day you still do. Only difference is that you’re actually married now! You know what they say, opposites attract. Your relationship basically started on a lie though, with Caleb acting as Jenna’s spy. But just like Spoby, falling in love probably wasn’t part of the plan. When Caleb ran away to Ravenswood, I wasn’t sure if he’d be back (I liked Ravenswood and thought maybe it would go on longer). You were on and off and like the others, you grew up. Life got in the way. Your different lifestyles got in the way. For a short time I liked Spaleb. It was a random relationship and it caused a strain on other relationships. But the thing about Caleb is that he’s loyal and will do everything in his power to protect the people he loves and I love him for that. I love him for loving and protecting Hanna. It took me a while, but watching season 7, I finally appreciated the relationship that is Haleb. Also, I always think about how both of them were on Days of Our Lives, at different times.
To my favorite guy, Ezra Fitz: You will always be my favorite English teacher. You were straight out of college, nerdy and adorable AF. You played the girls for a little and I was Aria when the truth was revealed. But I forgave you. How can I not? I feel like you’re the one guy who had the most secrets. Maybe it’s the mystery that is Ezra Fitzgerald that captivated me because even though the series has ended, I still feel like you’re hiding something. On a side note, I miss your brother Wesley.
To my favorite villain, Mona Vanderwaal: I love you, I really do. I could never really hate you. Even though you were the first “A” to start the game, I still couldn’t dislike you. You’re intelligent. You think outside the box. You’re prepared and detail oriented. Jealousy seeped through your blood and you wanted to be accepted. You just wanted to be loved. You went too far, but somehow you still managed to wiggle your way back inside, even though the others hardly trusted you. I trusted you many times because I didn’t know what else to think about you. I trusted you because I know you wanted to protect your “friends”. Ultimately, someone stole the game from you and you were determined to win. Your passion and drive is probably what I admire the most. In the end, I couldn’t decipher whose side you were on, but you won and got your happy ending. You’re no longer Loser Mona. You were never a loser though, just misunderstood.
To my favorite character, Hanna Marin: I see myself in you the most. Your back story hit me hardest. To this day, I still have low self esteem when it comes to my body image. But I’d like to think I’m good at faking it. You came from a broken family and you faked it til you made it. You wanted this sense of love and acceptance and it took a while for you to feel that. But you learned to love yourself and you learned to say what you feel. There were so many layers to you and I’m glad we were able to see them unravel over the seasons. You may not have been book smart, but you were street smart. You made me laugh many times. But you were also the source of my tears as I watched PLL. I never liked to see you being tortured or hurt. It broke my heart every time because you didn’t deserve any of it. The thing I admire most about you is your loyalty to your friends, no matter how many times you got hurt. Also, I wish I had your passion for fashion and all your OOTDs. 🙂
To my favorite actress, Ashley Benson: BENZOooO. You’ve been my favorite forever. I mean, you were practically the reason why I started watching PLL. From being Abby Deveraux on DOOL to Carson on Bring It On: In It to Win It, I followed you on to your biggest project yet. We’re the same age, so in a weird sense I feel like we grew up together and a part of me wishes I was part of your #SQUAD. I was able to meet you once and it remains one of my favorite moments ever in my almost 28 years of existence. You were the sweetest person ever and i’m not just saying this because I love you. I absolutely adore your sense of humor, your style, your personality and the way you love and support your family/friends, Olive, and Walter. I absolutely adore YOU. Thank you for being my inspiration to do the things I love. Thank you for playing a character I absolutely love and connect with. Thank you for doing that epic dance scene in Season 5. And thank you for just being you and allowing us fans into your world. I love you!
To A.D, you’re awful. What kind of person wants to get rid of their twin sister so they can live in their shoes? All the awards to Troian Bellisario for bringing not just one great character, but two. Sure, Spencer and Alex looked alike, but they were so different and you were able to portray that to us viewers. The only similar thing I see between the two, is the yearning to be part of a family.
To the WHOLE cast, it’s been quite the 7 years, hasn’t it? You all practically grew up in the show, especially Sasha. To think she was only 13 when she shot the Pilot! Even I feel like i’ve grown up with you all. And then in Season 5 you started playing characters closer to your age and it felt even more relatable. Not that I have a stalker in my life, but just the fact that you were all in your twenties trying to figure out life. I lived vicariously through each and every one of you, through the drama and relationships. Thank you for bringing these characters to life and not giving up on your fans. Not only did people fall in love with your characters, but with you as actors. Even though things were so dramatic on cam, off camera you brought us some great BTS laughter and fun. It’s so great to see actors and actresses who have been on the show continue to do awesome projects. There’s a reason this show stuck around for so long and you all are why.
To the directors, writers, producers, and crew behind it all: First off, thank you Sara Shepard. Without you there would be no Pretty Little Liars. Your mind and creativity came up with this whole universe. You had these characters and constant mystery that captivated your audience. And I thank you for that. I hope one day I’ll get to reading all the books! Marlene King, thank you for bringing the books to screen. I’m pretty sure that this was one of the most popular book to tv adaptation. Thank you for taking that risk and bringing the whole team together to create the magic that is PLL. I can’t wait to see what else you have in store. And to the rest of the team behind PLL, thank you for the dedication and hard work you put behind the scenes to make sure the viewers got the best experience. From the set, the costume design, the score, the props…you all made PLL the iconic show that it is. Also, shout out to Lisa and Romy for putting up with Ashley and Shay all the time. 😛
It’s been two weeks since the show ended and I meant to post this a few days after, but I just never got to finish it until now. I think a part of me still doesn’t think Pretty Little Liars has ended. I mean, there’s so much that could happen after that finale. Alex and Mary Drake could escape Mona- I’m sure Detective Tanner is wondering where Mary Drake disappeared to and she’s a closer remember? I mean, I’m pretty excited to see the PLL reunion in the future. It’s an iconic show and will be for many years to come. PLL’s impact in popular culture should not be underestimated.
I can’t wait to see and support each of the cast members in their next projects, but I’m sure nothing will ever replace the love I have for Pretty Little Liars.
To whole PLL fandom, thank you for your passion.
What show should I recap now?
xoxo,
Adele

THE PRETTY LITTLE LIARS ENDGAME
It is bittersweet that I present to you my last ever theory for Pretty Little Liars. I apologise in advance for the insane length, but this is covering all those frustrating loose ends across the entire series. I hope you can make it to the end so we can discuss. My only fear for this theory is that it is too daring and gutsy; it would re-define the show we thought we knew. Are the writers willing to ‘go there’ in just 10 episodes? I don’t know! Regardless if this is all right, partially right, or so damn wrong, I hope you have as much fun reading this as I did putting this together the past two months! For the last time before the show ends... I hope you enjoy!
ALISON DILAURENTIS
The one storyline that was never confirmed, but was constantly teased throughout the show, is that Alison deliberately faked her death. This story is making a comeback in 7B because the entire show (pre time jump) centres around it.
How do we know Ali was planning to do this?
She was blackmailing Hector Lime for hundreds of dollars and Byron for thousands of dollars - no ordinary 15 year old needs such large sums of money.
In 4B, we see Ali doing everything in her power to get more money: she was asking Shana for money, and even Emily tried sending cash to her. Ali was fretting for money whilst on the run. So clearly, there is the evidence that her scamming money off people in the early seasons was to aid her plan of faking her death.
Also throughout the series, we hear Ali’s mysterious comments, including:
- you're going to miss me when I'm gone, - I’m writing my diaries for you so that you can carry on when I’m gone, - haven't you ever wanted to die in a mysterious way and leave a beautiful corpse? - you were the hardest to leave behind.
WHY DID ALI WANT TO FAKE HER DEATH?
To find out who A is. She had been receiving messages from A/Mona for quite some time and she wanted this to stop. If A/Mona thinks Ali is dead, the threats will stop, which would buy Ali time to find out who exactly is her harasser. We know Ali was determined to find out who A is: she spent ‘that night’ walking around Rosewood crossing people off her suspects list. Also, whilst dressed up as Vivian Darkbloom, she said “I’m watching someone”. Faking her death would be just another way to narrow down her A-suspects completely.
CHARLOTTE AND ALISON’S RELATIONSHIP
Charlotte and Alison are the two most important characters of the show. An alternative name for PLL could be TAACS - The Alison And Charlotte Show. Their friendship began in Cape May one summer, as Charlotte revealed in 307, and they’ve been extremely close ever since.
That summer, they bonded and they naturally realised their personal similarities. The way they look, walk and talk, and also shared Jessica as a ‘mother’ (Jessica raised Charlotte like we saw in 610, although Mary gave birth). Charlotte confided in Ali that summer and revealed to her that she was born as Charles, transitioned to Charlotte, and that she is the daughter of her aunt. So at Cape May that summer, Charlotte revealed to Ali that they are first cousins.
I know this because of what Charlotte told the girls when she first met them in 307: “our families rented summer homes in Cape May. We went through an intense couple weeks together.”
Well, Charlotte and Ali are family. The “intense” part about it was Ali’s learning of the existence of the Drakes. Besides, Charlotte did tell the girls in 307 that “Ali was going through such a rough time. Like a broken doll”. Well, it must be hard to learn of family you never knew you had.
Charlotte had never met Mary, as Mary confirmed in 7A. In 707 Charlotte asks Jenna “did you find my birth mother?” This is not the same as “did you find out who my birth mother is?” That summer, Charlotte was with her biological father (discussed later) when they rented summer homes at Cape May.
Ali never mentioned me to you guys? asked Charlotte. No, replied the girls. Charlotte is Ali’s secret friend throughout the series; the one who gave Ali that anklet in 306.
Throughout 6A we see Ali asking her father “who is Charles DiLaurentis?” She already knew the answer, and was only asking her father because the girls forced her. By asking her father who is Charles, she at least has an honest answer to report back to the girls. Of course she tries to throw the girls off, by acting sad at the news Charles is dead.
CHARLOTTE WAS HELPING ALISON FAKE HER DEATH
Friends/family that are this close tell each other everything. I mean, Alison thought Wilden got her pregnant and her instant reaction was to seek Charlotte’s help. (Wilden is beach hottie, almost confirmed by Charlotte in 320 when she said Ali thought Wilden was cute.) Clearly these girls are very close. So when Alison was about to pull off the most elaborate stunt she has ever attempted, she needed someone’s help. And who better to ask than Charlotte Drake.
Charlotte was Ali’s partner in crime; she was driving her around town as she executes her plan of faking her death. Here, Charlotte was Ali’s get-away ride from Hector Lime’s mask shop after she had just scammed money off him.
BETHANY YOUNG
In order to fake a death there needs to be an actual dead body, right? Bethany Young was the person that both Ali and Charlotte agreed will take Ali's place in the grave.
Out of everyone in Rosewood... why Bethany Young? It all comes back to the affair between Jessica and Mr Young, which is proving to be critical to the storyline. Alison was aware of the luxury that Bethany was getting from Jessica - Jessica bloody bought Bethany a horse named Custard, and signed her out of Radley to go riding. Was Ali getting such attention and affection? No. Jealousy drove Ali to want Bethany dead. Maybe then, Jessica will focus on her real daughter, end the affair and restore the DiLaurentis family. It may sound extreme to want Bethany dead over this, but Alison did need a body to take her place in the grave: it makes sense to use the girl whose death would bring a self-benefit, than to use a random girl off the street.
What Ali didn’t know is that Jessica wasn’t “slutting it up” with this affair. Jessica had her own agenda to fulfil by seeing Mr Young.
One day at work, Jessica accidentally pushed (perhaps bumped) Marion Cavanaugh off the roof at Radley, which Bethany saw. (A flashback here would be ideal: maybe the two had an argument and it wasn’t an accident?) Jessica paid Wilden to rule Marion's death a suicide, but that wasn’t enough to cover up her deadly mistake: she still had her witness, Bethany, to worry about. The affair with Mr Young was Jessica’s way of keeping close tabs on Bethany, ensuring she doesn’t say a word about what she saw. “I love your dad, and if you tell anyone what you saw, your dad will get upset. I know you like horses... if I take you out of Radley every now and then, will you promise not to tell anyone what you saw?”
Jessica was so determined to get some bonding time with Bethany, that she had to pose as her aunty in order to sign her out, hence Jessica asked Bethany call her “Aunt Jessie”. Many people think that Jessica forcing Bethany to call her Aunt Jessie is almost confirmation that Bethany is Mary’s daughter. However, the guy who works at the horse stable told Spencer and Emily that “I knew they weren’t related. There was something else going on”. That “something else” was Jessica bribing Bethany to shut up about what she saw on the roof. Thanks for the clue that they’re not actually related, writers.
These are Bethany’s drawings. This is how the girl spends her free time: drawing Jessica in a negative way. Clearly, Bethany hates Jessica; she sees her as a killer.
The 'liar' signifies Jessica having Marion’s death ruled a suicide, and also Jessica’s bribery towards Bethany (with horses) to not tell anyone the truth.
The horns represents Jessica being the devil, as she killed Marion.
And, of course, the drawing of someone falling from the roof speaks for itself.
According to Charlotte, Bethany pushed Marion and blamed her for it. If Bethany truly did it and wanted to get away with it by blaming Charlotte, Bethany wouldn’t be drawing and glorifying her deadly action for Radley staff to see. Instead, she should be acting like it was so tragic what ‘Charlotte’ did. Or even, play dumb like she doesn’t know it happened. Clearly, the plot hole in the timeline exists because Charlotte lied: she wanted the liars’ sympathy so she said that she took the blame for it. The truth is that Jessica did it. Besides, Jessica is clearly authorised as she worked at Radley. I guess we can also clear the ‘plot hole’ of young patients being on the roof alone at midnight, haha.
How could we forget Bethany’s recordings: "she's a bitch. An evil bitch!" She's talking about Jessica, as Spencer said in 512 (clue from the writers). She’s an evil bitch for killing Marion and bribing her to not tell anyone what she saw. Of course, because Jessica paid Wilden to rule it a suicide, no one believed the Radley-patient’s claims that Jessica is an “evil bitch”.
Bethany was Ali and Charlotte’s target that night. They wanted to use her body in Ali’s grave, so Ali can fake her death. So how do they get Bethany to Rosewood? She was just a couple letters away. Little does Bethany know, that once she arrives in Rosewood wearing the yellow top that Alison gave her, she will be killed in the place of Ali.
“Did I already thank you for the clothes in my last letter? If not, thank you times a million. Yellow is my favourite colour.” I get goosebumps reading this. Alison was getting ready to kill someone.
As confirmed by Marlene, Charlotte swapped Bethany’s dental records to be Ali’s. (Don’t ask how. She’s the intelligent Big A.) It was also Charlotte that deliberately put the Alison bracelet on Bethany’s dead body, as they needed Bethany to be identified as Alison.
THAT NIGHT:
Mona sent the below text to Ali that night - Mona wanted to kill Ali. However, because Ali had arranged for Bethany to wear the same yellow top, Mona got confused and hit the wrong blonde. Mona killed Bethany instead (of Ali), which is exactly what Ali and Charlotte wanted to do.
(Minor side note: Mona never knew that she killed Bethany - she always thought she hit Ali and that Ali was later pulled out by someone. “When I hit her, all I could hear was every awful thing Ali ever said to me. But if CeCe hit Ali... Bethany had blonde hair and she was dressed just like Alison. I killed an innocent person”. It wasn’t until 610 when Charlotte confessed to hitting Ali, that Mona realises she hit Bethany instead.)
"Did I get everything you need?" Mona asked Ali at the Lost Woods Resort, signifying Ali indeed was planning on faking her death as she had a runaway kit at the ready.
Charlotte hit Ali thinking she was hitting Bethany; thinking she was helping Ali fake her death. This is major. That was quite the mess, as it’s the opposite of what they had planned... Ali wanted to FAKE her death, not be killed! Thankfully Mrs Grunwald and then Mona came to Ali’s rescue, and she was alive.
However the problem was that Charlotte didn't know Ali had 'faked' her death - Charlotte thought Ali was legitimately dead. She hit her, and Jessica/Mary buried her! Looks pretty dead. Once Charlotte began seeing a blonde in a red coat, Charlotte became suspicious that Ali may be alive. (Marlene has confirmed on Twitter that the below was indeed Ali.)
Hence Charlotte organised the events at the lodge to find out if Ali is alive. By putting the girls in what seems to be a dangerous situation, Ali may come out of hiding to save the girls.
Clarification on what happened the night of the lodge fire:
Melissa sent Jenna and Shana to keep an eye on Spencer and also to find out who Spencer was going to meet - potentially Alison. Melissa needed to know if Ali is alive, because if she is, that means she buried an innocent person, and she may begin to see the repercussions.
Little did Melissa know, that Jenna and Shana had their own agenda. They were only accepting Melissa’s orders out of fear, as Mona confirmed in 401 (”they’re both afraid of Melissa”). Melissa’s orders to protect Spencer and see if Ali is alive went in one ear and out the other.
Shana lit the fire thinking Alison is inside, thinking she’s getting justice for The Jenna Thing (on behalf of Jenna whom she fell in love with).
Wilden was with Jenna and Shana, as he too wanted Ali dead because if she came home alive, he will get in trouble for doing dirty work as a cop (accepting Jessica’s bribery money to stay quiet on Charlotte hitting Ali).
So Charlotte killed Wilden, for Ali’s sake, and her own sake, as Wilden will throw Charlotte under the bus for Ali’s ‘murder’.
Melissa told Spencer in 404 that “Jenna and Shana didn’t light the fire, it was Wilden. They saw him”. Little did Melissa know that Jenna and Shana lied. They were merely trying to save their own assess; blame the dead guy for their own actions.
Below, we see the alliance forming between Jenna, Shana and Wilden. They all wanted Ali dead.
Another problem that night, was that Mona saw Ali... the exact person Ali was trying to escape from by faking her death (but didn’t know it). Ali did learn that Mona is A whilst on the run, however. So although Charlotte hit her, she did achieve her goal of faking her death nonetheless. In 212, Emily asked Ali if she knows who A is, to which Ali says “of course I do”. The confidence in that response... it’s almost like “the amount of effort I went through in order to find out... I faked my own death, Emily. Of course I know”. Ali believes Mona is weak, less superior, and won’t hurt the girls, so telling them won’t do them much.
GETTING AWAY WITH BETHANY’S MURDER
Although Charlotte and Ali didn't actually commit the murder of Bethany that they had longingly planned, they needed to ensure that no one finds out about their intent to murder Bethany. If the police knew about Ali (and Charlotte’s) desire to kill Bethany, simple connection of the dots would say that Ali planned on faking her death and that Ali was NOT kidnapped. Faking your death is illegal, and so Ali creates the kidnapping story to play the victim.
So, how exactly did they plan on saving themselves?
One day whilst Alison was on the run, she met a guy named Cyrus Petrillo. In 510, Cyrus expresses that he and Ali used to have “so much fun together”. I mean, they were holding hands at one point. They genuinely liked each other.
Then Cyrus figures out Alison’s true intention of their relationship: Ali was planning to blame Cyrus for her kidnapping. He was furious at being used like this, and so he stabbed her in the thigh. That’s what the fight was about.
“There’s a warrant out for my arrest. That wasn’t part of the deal we made. I could’ve told the police the truth about you [not being kidnapped, and faking your death]. How we met. All the fun we had together.” - says Cyrus in 510.
Ali hands Cyrus a passport and a plane ticket. It’s like Ali has a load of these just laying around the house.
Ali just got this guy charged for her kidnapping. She sends him away, so that he can escape the charges. It’s a win-win for both of them: he flees, and Ali gets away with faking her death by intending to kill Bethany.
How else did they plan to be safe?
Alison was getting flirty with Detective Holbrook at the exact time Bethany's murder was high on the Rosewood Police's agenda. Getting close with Holbrook may allow her the inside-scoop as to the police's latest theories on Bethany's murder. Ali was keeping tabs on him and therefore keeping tabs on Bethany’s case. If worse comes to worse and Holbrook latches on to Ali’s intent to kill Bethany, because they are supposedly “in love”, Ali may be able to lie her way out of it. Ultimately, Ali wanted to make sure her kidnapping story was being believed.
In the event the police do latch on to Alison's plan to murder Bethany, she had her Holly Varjack passport (which Spencer found in her house in 513) at the ready, to flee the country. Alison gave Charlotte a passport in 501 to flee the country for Wilden's murder. That parallelism tells us that Ali and Charlotte are willing and prepared to leave the country for murder, in the unlikely event they become suspects in Bethany’s murder.
Again, although Ali and Charlotte didn’t actually kill Bethany (Mona did), Ali’s priority is to ensure no one knows she planned on faking her death; she needs everyone to believe she was kidnapped.
Flying lessons with Duncan could potentially come in handy here, too. Not that Ali will fly her own plane out of town, but, you never know what you might need if the police come looking for you, or if you’re on the run.
Ali was also experimenting with her Vivian Darkbloom disguise, in case she ever needs to not be Alison DiLaurentis for a while.
And the final way Ali and Charlotte plan on getting away with it all...
Charlotte sure as hell did speak with Melissa that night. According to Charlotte in 320, Ali begged Charlotte to speak to Melissa, to find out where the NAT videos are. The conversation topic quickly shifted when Melissa told Charlotte “I just saw Spencer and Alison fighting. Spencer had a shovel in her hands, and now there’s a body lying over there. I think Spencer killed Alison”. Charlotte knew that Melissa must be talking about Bethany, and NOT Ali, because Charlotte had just hit Ali herself. Hence, Charlotte had every reason to believe that Spencer killed Bethany.
Charlotte told Detective Holbrook this in 424. “I know who killed that girl. The one you thought was Alison DiLaurentis.” Brilliant, because now, Charlotte (and Ali) can blame Spencer for the murder they planned.
Side clarifications: when Charlotte hit Ali, she was wearing a hoodie. She later changes into the yellow top for a very specific reason: to look like Bethany. They need to make it look like Bethany never died that night. Hence Charlotte told us in 610 that “Jason saw Bethany, he didn’t see me.” Jason did see Charlotte, but she was posing as Bethany. She lied, to keep the secret.
If you’re not convinced that Ali wanted to fake her death by killing Bethany (with the help of Charlotte), then this will totally convince you:
OUR QUEEN MONA VANDERWAAL GOT IT 100% SPOT ON IN 512
Isn’t this exactly what this entire post has been about? 512 is one of the most important episodes of the entire series.
How do we know that Mona’s theory is totally correct? Because right after she shared her theories, Charlotte kidnapped Mona to shut her up in order to protect her best friend and her cousin, Alison. Charlotte would not have done this if Mona could be proven wrong. God bless Mona for being smart enough to solve this mess years ago. (And good job Marlene, for having this all planned that far back!)
Alison popped by Mona’s house just to double check that her partner in crime, Charlotte, took care of their threat (Mona). Ali isn’t crying like everyone else for 2 reasons: she never truly did like Mona (”Mona played me like a fool”) but more importantly, she knows Charlotte never actually killed her. It’s just a temporary kidnapping.
Ali wrote the below message whilst in jail. Who could she possibly have been leaving this for? Hanna wasn’t yet in jail, and even then, why would Hanna need to see this? This was for the all-seeing Big A: Charlotte. Ali was telling Charlotte that although she kidnapped Mona to shut her up, she was too late. Mona had already told everything, and the girls knew. The girls know everything about luring Bethany to Rosewood.
Well the secret isn’t safe if she just kidnaps Mona and not the girls, isn’t it? Charlotte puts the girls in jail because Mona told them everything.
That’s why Mona copped it really bad in the dollhouse. Mona had the information required to get Ali in a lot of trouble. Charlotte needed to protect her cousin.
Evidently, Mona’s theories in 512 were right!!!
To further back up that Alison was up to something else, in early 5A, the girls are adjusting to their new life without A: Aria had just killed Shana. (Their true enemy was Charlotte, who was not in the country, but anyway...) Alison visits Ezra’s apartment asking for the remaining pages of his book; she says she needs to know what else he found if she's going to stay alive. Why can’t she relax at an A-free life like the other girls? Why is she so paranoid even after A is dead? Ali was worried that Ezra uncovered the truth to her kidnapping story... the true version to this story revolves around faking her death and murdering an innocent girl named Bethany. If Mona could work out Ali's plan later on in 5A, then the information is clearly out there in the wild to crack Ali's code.
ALI AND CHARLOTTE ARE THE PRETTY LITTLE LIARS OF THE SERIES
So Charlotte lied in 610. She was indeed A, but Charlotte’s pivotal lie was saying that Jessica took her back to Radley after Charles' funeral. This couldn't have happened, because Charlotte had a roommate and was even in the Rosewood High yearbook. Saying she went back to Radley after Charles' funeral was her way of making the girls feel sorry for her, hoping that way they will forgive her for playing the A game. She was free to roam the streets of Rosewood.
For an episode that was supposed to culminate 6 years of rich story, it was kind of disappointing that the girls who went through A’s torture were not even present during the A reveal, and instead, were locked behind a sci-fi screen. This was actually by design, because Charlotte and Ali knew that if the girls were physically present in the room, they would poke holes in their story.
What story?
Yes - all of 610 was pre-rehearsed between Charlotte and Ali. It seemed very formulaic, didn’t it? Ali asks a question, Charlotte answers it. As already discussed, Ali knew Charlotte was born as Charles. Well it didn’t stop there, because Ali knew Charlotte stole the A game from Mona, too. They were putting on a performance for the liars who are watching on the screen in the other room. They were telling the girls what they wanted to hear.
Because Ali and Charlotte are human, they made mistakes in their scripted story; mistakes that we know as plot holes. All plot holes from 610 are instantly cleared once they reveal in 7B that Charlotte never went back to Radley after Charles’ funeral, and that she was putting on a show for the liars. The plot hole of Marion’s death has already been cleared, as discussed earlier.
Note the camera in the below shot: Marlene, as director of 610, made a clear effort to show that Charlotte and Ali are putting on a show for the liars, with a prepared script.
Look at the girls. They are practically believing every word Charlotte is saying, with no evidence to back up any claims. I’ll give it to Ali and Charlotte - the story they put together had some degree of logic. But there were deliberate lies to gain the girls’ sympathy, and these lies created plot holes. Ali and Charlotte think they’re getting away with it all.
The biggest plot twist of the show will be precisely that Alison knew Charlotte was A (and was helping her!) the whole time. The thought that one of the liars was aware of who A is, is certainly a lot to take in at once. I’m not downplaying it - I understand the severity of this claim. I understand this re-defines the show as we know it. I’m scared the writers aren’t going to ‘go there’ in just 10 more episodes, but it truly does just make so much damn sense. Let’s explore.
Why was Ali doing this? Well, Mona got it right again in 512. God bless Mona.
“Alison would’ve gotten bored with any one of you, but all together... She assembled the perfect group”, said Mona.
“For a sociopath to manipulate”, finished Spencer.
Mona points out the below:
Smart - Spencer Loyal - Emily Admiring - Hanna Compassionate - Aria
... which perfectly coincides with this:
This is Charlotte’s game, and Ali was playing it with her.
You are probably thinking to yourself that it can’t be true, because Ali has clearly been A’s target many times.
Firstly, please don’t forget Ali and Charlotte’s insanely close relationship. It’s not possible for girls this close to have a secret that big between them.
Secondly, it clears one of the shows biggest plot holes: if Charlotte loved Ali so much, why did she send her to prison? We know why Charlotte sent the girls to prison: they knew too much of Mona’s information.
Bravo Ali, for putting on quite the performance here:
This was Charlotte’s way of telling the girls: “stop saying Ali is A! Stop saying Ali killed Mona! What’s it going to take for you to leave my team-mate alone, do I need to throw her in prison?”
Besides, Charlotte had Ali arrested for a murder that never even happened. The stakes were extremely, extremely low. Only Alison DiLaurentis could pull of that performance, crying like that.
We are talking about the girl who said this.
Going to prison would clear her name straight away.
We are talking about the girl who left Rosewood, when Charlotte clearly told her that “if you leave Rosewood, I will kill you”. That was a fake threat to scare the girls. Charlotte would never hurt Ali. She even pretended to strangle Ali in her living room so that Emily can find her, and get scared.
Need I also remind you of this slip up? Ali signed -A out of habit.
And in 301, Emily received the below text. Are we really going to believe this was from Charlotte... someone that Emily had never met before? Alison just loves messing with the girls!
To provide further evidence to Alison knowing Charlotte is A, we can look at the Ali masks. The mask maker Hector Lime said that Alison ordered masks for all her “friends”. Aria, Hanna, Spencer and Emily sure as hell didn't receive any masks, so who are Ali's "friends"? Well to find out who Ali’s TRUE friends are, let’s just look to the past and see who exactly is in possession of an Ali mask:
Well would you look at that... the A team are Ali’s friends: Charlotte and Sara Harvey (who received the mask from Charlotte).
And finally, do you really think THIS is how Ali would react to her friend detonating a bomb right in front of her? Oh please. Spencer pressed a couple buttons and that made her think she disarmed it. The bomb was never active. Charlotte was not going to kill herself after having just gained everyone's sympathy, which is what she needed in order to go to a mental hospital instead of prison.
However, Ali running from A in New York was out of genuine fear, as Ali knew that it was not her teammate Charlotte on the roof in New York. At that moment Ali knew there was actually a hooded figure after her. And there was; Shana. Ali was genuinely scared for her life when Shana walked on that stage holding a gun to her head - Shana worked separately to Charlotte.
Rather than say Ali could not have been playing the A game with Charlotte because Ali suffered over the years, we need to look at each individual event. A holistic approach/comment is not possible here! I’ve explained a few events, but I’ll move on because there’s so much more.
If you’re still not convinced Ali was on Charlotte’s A-Team the whole time, let me remind you who Alison DiLaurentis is.
- she bullied Hanna about overeating.
- she was kissing Emily just for practice.
- she drove Mona to develop a personality disorder
- she threatened many times to divorce Aria’s parents
- she threatened to ruin Spencer’s relationship with her sister over boys
(A material, isn’t she?)
- she made the girls pass a test in order to truly be her friend - a test that was situated in a haunted house.
- she has been continually making comments throughout the series that make no damn sense. You all know much more about that night than you think you do. Telling the truth to the wrong person at the wrong time is how I ended up where I am. I want to come home, but it’s still not safe for me. ... what the hell!? These comments throughout the series make no sense. Ali is telling us, that combined, the girls were able to work out that Ali’s transgender cousin hit her with a rock and then she was later saved by a psychic? Ali is telling us that she’s scared of Ezra, the author?
She is playing with the girls. She wants them to think about her every day of every hour. Throughout the series Ali is causing mystery just for the sake of it. Her comments have proven to mean nothing. She loves the attention.
- she made the girls go on a wild goose chase in Ravenswood to reveal herself as alive. Rather than reveal herself as alive then and there, she makes the girls chase her around Ravenswood, only to ask them “did you miss me?” instead of telling them “I’m alive, I’m okay! I’ve missed you all!” She is so self centred... she thinks the girls missed HER, rather than her miss THEM.
One statement that does have meaning... She’s practically telling Aria she’s on Charlotte’s A-Team.
No one can convince me that this girl is not A material. Alison DiLaurentis epitomises why this show is called Pretty Little Liars. She deceived her friends all these years; she knew Charlotte is A and she helped her. Can we not forget that a flashback revealed Jessica telling off Alison for playing too many games with Charlotte?
How else did Charlotte know absolutely frickn everything about the girls?
Sorry Emison shippers - this is precisely why I haven’t been a massive supporter. I still believe those kisses were for practice.
This is exactly another reason why Charlotte kidnapped Mona in 512: Mona’s theories were so damn right, beyond luring Bethany to Rosewood! Mona worked out Ali is on the A-team (quote Mona: “Ali is A”), and Charlotte needed to shut Mona up. Again, 512 is one of the most important episodes of the series.
(I would like to give credit to @uberaalison for a few points I’ve made about Alison. Please go give this amazing person/blog a follow, and I thank them for inspiring me to look deeper at this character.)
POST TIME-JUMP: AVOIDING PRISON
As emphasised, Charlotte and Ali lied in 610. Why? Emphasising mental instability reduces the conviction and the sentencing. (Not me speaking, but legal systems in general.)
Did you ever find it odd, that Charlotte willingly revealed herself? The genius, who spent years avoiding getting caught, handed herself over to the girls? “Oh, you caught me! Well done girls!” It doesn’t work like that. The A-mastermind doesn’t just give up the game - she had a plan: tells the girls a really sad story, to get admitted into Welby instead of prison.
Why Welby? What’s at Welby? Archer Dunhill, her lover.
At the very beginning when Charlotte stole the game from Mona, she met someone named Archer Dunhill, and she fell in love with him. Charlotte told Archer to take on the alias of the deceased Doctor Elliot Rollins, and to wait for her at Welby, so that when she arrives there, he can get her out. (The ID was provided by Jenna, which she confessed to in 706).
The girls were too close for comfort in 6A: they wouldn’t stop looking into a Charles DiLaurentis. Charlotte decided it’s best she gives herself up now by telling a sad story, and then Archer will get her out of Welby within no time, rather than getting caught red handed (without the opportunity to tell a story, and then go to prison for the rest of her life).
Again, it made no sense for Big A to voluntarily hand herself over to the girls. She did this because she had a plan to fall into the arms of Archer and avoid prison.
“He knows everything about me. My family. My upbringing. Everything I’ve done. Everything. And he loves me. And he wants me out of here just as much as I do.” - Charlotte, 706.
Archer is no doctor. He took on the alias of a doctor merely to get Charlotte out of there, so he is not qualified by any means. When Charlotte arrived at Welby after finally declaring game over, Archer is supposed to help Charlotte get better. But of course, his true agenda is to get Charlotte out of there. He made her (falsely) pass all her tests and he organised court hearings (in “two weeks instead of six months”). During their ‘therapy’ sessions, Archer learns that Alison is now in possession of all the money Charlotte had when they first met. Archer wants it back, as he believes it belongs to the beautiful woman in front of him. Archer convinces Charlotte to allow him to take it all back from Alison. “But honey, I wouldn’t be doing anything wrong. It WAS yours. You worked hard for that. How are we going to start our new life together when I get you out of here? I’m not a real doctor, we have no money. We need that money back, Charlotte.” Charlotte was exposed to those feelings of manipulation all over again... not that she ever truly did get better, because Archer wasn’t treating her. Although Alison is her cousin, best friend, and partner in crime, she hears Archer’s valid claims and accepts his proposal to take Ali’s money. Archer begins seducing Alison.
This may all sound extreme that a man is willing to do this, but don’t forget in 620 he said... “I would have done anything for Charlotte”. He was the only man Charlotte had ever loved, according to Mary. That may be precisely why Charlotte agreed to even go against Alison here and take her money. Your first love is always the strongest.
“It’s like Rollins had an exit strategy for him and someone else”, said Emily in 703. Yes, he did. That someone else was Charlotte. Hence the passports and money. He was going to get her out of there and flee the country; go start up a new life elsewhere together.
In 706 Charlotte says to Archer: “I can’t thank you enough for being here. I don’t know what I would’ve done if...” She is thanking him for waiting for her at Welby. She doesn’t know what she would’ve done if he didn’t pretend to be her doctor to get her out of there. Perhaps go to prison?
“They used to come to the Bed and Breakfast all the time” and “I saw them kissing once, but I’m not supposed to tell”, says Eliza in 703. “I’m not supposed to tell” is because Charlotte is going against Ali; her long time partner in crime and cousin. Charlotte told Eliza to not say a word after seeing them kiss. They're supposed to be doctor/patient working together to help Charlotte get better!!!
And then... someone killed Charlotte. Archer went through SO much just to be with her. He took on a fake alias, pretended to be her doctor for years and even agreed to steal someone’s money. And all of a sudden, the girl is dead?
Mary tells us the truth in 705: “As we [Archer and I] consoled one another, he began to share his suspicions [of Ali’s involvement in Charlotte’s murder]. I never agreed to [punishing Alison to the extend Archer did]. Archer told me that Charlotte wanted me to have her money and that, for me, was justice. But... he wanted vengeance. I tried to talk him out of it but he was intent on taking an eye for an eye.”
Archer wanted vengeance for Charlotte’s murder, as the love of his life is now dead. As Mary said, Archer wanted an eye for an eye. He wanted more than just her money; he wanted to see Alison suffer the way she apparently made Charlotte suffer. Mary did not think it needed to go that far, hence:
Archer: you being here is not part of the plan. Mary: well neither is what you’re doing to that girl. Archer: you’ve got what you wanted. The money is yours.
Evidently there is a disagreement as to how far they should go to avenge Charlotte’s death.
THERE’S ALWAYS BEEN SOMEBODY WATCHING. MANIPULATING.
This is the writers speaking to us, through the character of Mona. The writers are telling us that we need to look at someone who has been there since the beginning. We also know it needs to be someone who at least has a connection to Charlotte, as this person is supposedly avenging their death.
There’s only ONE person in the entire show that fits these criteria: Melissa. Notice I never said Melissa Hastings.
“I have been protecting you since it started. Since before it started.”
Assuming “it” is in reference to the A games, what exactly has Spencer needed protection from, even before the A games started, when life was much simpler?
“You don’t understand, you’ve never understoond!” - what, Melissa? What doesn’t Spencer understand? Her true relationship with the Drakes. Spencer doesn’t remember it! And Melissa is trying to ensure Spencer never finds out, for it will break her heart. Melissa is a firm believer that love connects family, not blood. And there is no love with the Drakes. In fact, the entire Hastings family doesn’t want Spencer to know about her relationship with the Drakes. I quote Veronica Hastings here whilst she was on the topic of the DiLaurentis’ in 504: “your dad and I had an understanding that we’d never involve you in all of the...” Go on Veronica, finish that sentence. “...in all of the Drake/DiLaurentis drama”. Spencer belongs with the Hastings. This is what Melissa is talking about - she has been protecting Spencer from her truth since forever... since “before it started” - since before Mona began the first game.
Just look at the face of concern when he’s confronted with Radley files in 525... is the secret about to come out when they open that lid?
Let’s not forget Mary’s conversation with Spencer in 701.
Mary: I know enough about your family to know that they are excellent secret keepers. Spencer: why would they keep you a secret?
Everyone in the Hastings family is working hard to protect Spencer from her ugly truth. No one wants her to know she is adopted. They want her to live in the present and be happy with the Hastings.
How does Melissa know this about Spencer? Melissa is a Drake as well. She is Mary’s third and final child, and she knows it. The doctor who delivered Mary’s babies clearly stated that he “delivered two of her babies” - that wording is very ambiguous, implying there could be more than just Charlotte and Spencer.
It was heavily alluded to in 701 that Spencer and Melissa are biological sisters. It would make no sense for Mary to tell Spencer that "you and your sister look so much alike, almost like twins” if Melissa is not also one of her children. Mary then proceeds to ask if Spencer is close with Melissa, like any mother would hope for her children. Mary’s fascination with Melissa tells me there is more to their relationship, and there is. I am dying for a scene between Melissa and Mary.
Peter is the biological father of both Spencer and Melissa. He kept both girls, with his wife Veronica, whilst Mary went off to Radley. Peter and Veronica wanted to raise them as the perfect Hastings. That involved totally erasing their history and connection to Mary... you know, the woman who was ‘responsible’ for the death of a baby whilst babysitting. Who knows what Spencer’s birth was? Melissa’s birth name began with an A. Alyssa, or Alessia Drake, perhaps?
MELISSA IS AD
Have you noticed how AD has a very different agenda to that of Mona and Charlotte when they were A? AD/Melissa is NOT here to ruin relationships, trap mothers in basements and send messages exposing secrets. She doesn’t care about any of that petty stuff that Mona and Charlotte once did. Melissa has her own agenda.
Melissa killed Charlotte, and she wants the girls to hand over a name to her so she can get away with the murder.
I know what you’re thinking. “Melissa killing Charlotte is too obvious. It’s too easy. Therefore it’s not happening.” We need to stop thinking like this! The writers told us CeCe is A back in season 4 when they showed her face under the hoodie, and we all said “oh CeCe is in a hoodie? Easy, she’s not A”. Look where that got us!
Yes, Melissa did kill Charlotte. Innocent people don’t lie about where they were on the night of a murder (thanks for your lie detection skills Caleb). Melissa did use the metal rod from her suitcase. No, 6B wasn’t as pointless as we all thought. Actual answers in the season of fillers/romance!
If the writers pointed the finger to Melissa in 7A, it would be fresh in our minds. They gave us the answers in 6B, hoping we’d forget about it by the time 7B comes. Smart move by the writers - because I’ve seen about zero theories on Melissa killing Charlotte, yet there is just so much damn evidence. Of course, it’ll be the person that the writers built up; the person that makes sense, rather than a person with zero clues. And right now, Melissa is the only person with actual clues towards being Charlotte’s murderer.
Melissa wanted Emily to touch the rod, to get her finger prints on it, so that Emily can go down for Charlotte’s murder. Melissa doesn’t care who she throws under the bus for her crime. ANYONE. She’s supposed to be the perfect Hastings. She can’t have a murder on her resume. We saw how Melissa reacted recently to the thought that her employer potentially knew about her video confessing to burying Bethany... she was about to pass out!
AD had an obsession with getting the killer before election night. This sent alarm bells ringing in my head to re-watch the election episode, and see who is making their presence known. Lo and behold, the only character is Melissa. Melissa was sick and tired of the girls not handing over evidence, or a potential killer’s name to her. Her temper started to boil, and so she has the idea of giving them a deadline with consequences if they don’t follow through. Maybe then, the girls will do as told.
Spencer says: “that was Melissa [on the phone]. She’s sending her love for the 10th time this hour”. The writers are very subtly teasing Melissa’s involvement. No other character made subtle features during the election night!
Veronica then says “I swear she's more nervous than I am!” Clearly Melissa is constantly checking in on Spencer/the girls to see if they’ve made progress on handing over a killer, so that Melissa can move on with her life.
Look at the wording above.
“Thanks for giving me Hanna” - Melissa did warn the girls: “give me the killer by election night, or YOU LOOSE.” Because they didn’t hand over a killer, they lost. Because they didn’t hand over a killer, Melissa takes Hanna; the most recent person who made a confession.
Melissa is smarter than that: she knows Hanna is lying as it’s her own freaking murder! Hence all of this happened:
Melissa told Hanna that if she wants the pain to stop, all she has to do is tell the police exactly what she told her earlier. Luckily Hanna escaped. Thank god!
Through all this, the million dollar question still remains: WHY did Melissa kill Charlotte?
First, let’s look at the relationship between Melissa and Charlotte.
Note: Melissa does know that Charlotte is her sister, evident in her saying to Hanna in 617 “who gave that twisted sister phone privileges?”
1) Charlotte and Melissa had an ongoing relationship (as they are family). It possibly was strengthened at Rosewood High, as Charlotte was prom queen the same year of Melissa’s prom.
2) They continue their friendship into summer at Cape May - Melissa took a photo of Charlotte, Ali and Wilden on a boat.
3) Melissa and Charlotte spoke together ‘that night’. (That’s because Ali called Charlotte and told her to speak to Melissa, asking for the NAT videos. I guess Ali was too scared to talk to Melissa directly.)
4) When Charlotte first met Spencer, she greeted her as “Melissa Hastings’ little sister”. Very odd greeting, which teases a history with Melissa. That history is their family connection.
1 to 4 above have been planted across the series to tease Melissa is connected to Charlotte. No other character has such a connection. This connection I speak of is the family connection; sisterly bonding!!
5) Wren says that Melissa called Charlotte to say that Mona is in Radley. (Side note - here’s proof that Charlotte never went back to Radley after Charles’ funeral. If Charlotte were a patient there, she wouldn’t need to be told about Mona being there. Since Charlotte was no longer a patient there, and she was using the new alias CeCe Drake, she needed a visitors pass - plot hole cleared!) Melissa believed that her sister, Charlotte, would serve as a good role model to Mona. She wanted Charlotte to help Mona get better so that Mona can get out, and she can talk to her about Bethany Young.
6) Charlotte calls Wren to tell him that Melissa buried Bethany Young, causing Wren to end his relationship with Melissa as he couldn't look at her the same.
We very rarely get scenes with the Melissa and Charlotte, but their names constantly pop up in the same sentence. This can’t be a coincidence.
Charlotte never truly did get better as she was being treated by Archer, who is not a qualified doctor. She even kept her dolls of the girls, all those years after declaring game over, as we learnt in 703.
Rewatching 617, it became extremely clear that Melissa killed Charlotte.
"That scheming nut job who made your life a living hell has now moved on to mess with mine. Who the hell gave that twisted sister phone privileges? How does someone with her resume get put under penthouse arrest? A leopard never changes its spots. If she’s willing to tell Wren [about Bethany Young], who else is she gonna tell? We all have a past, Hanna. Aren’t you curious what she plans to use against you?”
Additionally, killing Charlotte served as protection to Spencer, as Melissa learnt of Charlotte’s intentions to tell Spencer about their true relationship as Drakes. Again, Melissa is protecting Spencer, like she always has been, since before it started.
I believe Melissa wrote the essay that coincidentally aligns with how Charlotte died, and Spencer thinks it’s her essay. We have seen Spencer take Melissa’s essays before. Just because it has Spencer’s name on it, doesn’t mean she wrote it. Spencer was too paranoid at how bad this could look for her, to look past the fact that Melissa is its true author.
If Melissa loves Spencer, then how do we explain this?
There were 2 gun shots heard in the house. The first gun shot was Jenna shooting Spencer, and the second gun shot was Melissa aiming to stop Jenna from shooting Spencer. I believe the second shot (Melissa’s) hit no one. And Melissa kidnapped Jenna to punish her for shooting Spencer. Jenna thinks she’s safe with AD, because AD is avenging Charlotte’s death, but she’s wrong. Jenna has been kidnapped BY Charlotte’s killer.
So Melissa is AD because she wants to get away with killing Charlotte. What’s that “G” word that should be coming to your mind right about now? A GAME. If you’re expecting AD/Uber A to be a ruthless killer seeking revenge for something the girls did to harm them, you need to lower your expectations. I mean, Freeform itself is trying to warn us by the title of their video. It’s a game of “who can I blame for the murder I committed?” There are no merciless psychopaths on a murder spree in Rosewood.
Garret says to Spencer in 302 that “there’s a lot you don’t know, Spencer. Some of it you don’t want to know. Someone that you know well has you completely fooled. People lie but… medical records don’t.” When they were dating, Melissa confided in Garret and told him about their connection to the Drakes, and this is what Garret is talking about. Garret really needed a lawyer to get him out of prison, and so he blackmailed Veronica. “Take my case, or I’ll tell everyone about the Drakes”. That’s why Veronica took his case without pay. Then Garret is released, and later is killed on the Halloween Train, which Melissa was on. Melissa sees Spencer having one-on-one private conversations with Garret, and fears the secret is coming out. Melissa killed Garret, protecting Spencer from her truth.
In 317 we see “A” burying the Queen of Hearts mask, who we know was Melissa. This can’t be Charlotte - why would Charlotte care about burying this mask? Melissa is in possession of a hoodie!
THE TWINS
Peter is the biological father of Charlotte - he had an affair with Mary, thinking he was seeing Jessica as per normal. Mary did this to get back at Jessica for being the world’s worst sister. Mary is the innocent one and Jessica is satan in disguise. Jessica organised electro-shock therapy for Mary (very inhumane) and took Charles away from Mary the very second she was born. As Mary said, she didn’t even get to hold Charles at the hospital. Jessica even told Mary that Charles’ grave was real - Mary did not know her child was transitioning. Jessica wasn’t giving a cause of death, and even went as far as to say “you gave birth, but he was my son”. And let’s not forget the Teddy incident, where Jessica blamed Mary for the death of a baby whilst she was babysitting. Mary was born first and Jessica was born jealous.
Hence Peter tried to shut down Radley throughout the series: he is embarrassed of his affair with Mary, after already having had Jason with Jessica. He is trying to erase all evidence of it. It really does seem that Peter is the father of everyone in Rosewood!
As we learnt in 7A, Jessica was searching for Ali the whole time. How did she know to search for Ali, if she buried her? Kind of an odd reaction. Peter wanted to give Jessica a little bit of hope that maybe her daughter is still alive, and so Peter told Jessica that Melissa buried a body (Bethany) that night too. That of course implies something is going on; perhaps Ali made it out and someone else died?
Peter and Jessica’s understanding is that he will not tell anyone about the mess with Mary, if she does not tell anyone about Melissa’s secret.
After Jessica got confirmation in 424 at the police station that Alison is alive, she nearly sent this email to Peter:
Ali is alive, yet Jessica buried her...
And so in order to save her own ass, Jessica was going to say that Melissa buried Ali, and Melissa didn’t want to take that risk. Melissa proceeded to murder Jessica.
No wonder Peter lied to Veronica about taking Melissa to a bed and breakfast the night Jessica was killed - Peter is helping Melissa cover it up. Veronica gets bad vibes (trust issues), and files for divorce from Peter, taking Spencer with her, leaving her killer ‘daughter’ behind.
RANDOM FINAL NOTES
Noel killed Sara Harvey, because she was going to tell the girls that he is a bad guy. Sara saw Noel helping Charlotte in the dollhouse, and she knows how dangerous he can be. Sara was murdered right after she said to Emily “I want you to be safe. Please, don’t come back. I’m talking about...”
Jenna said in 706: I read about Charlotte wasting away in that hospital. So I reached out. I figured she’d welcome a visit even from a stranger. But I wasn’t a stranger. Mona had told her everything about me. I was a celebrity. This doesn’t seem to align with the pre-time jump, whereby Shana told Spencer that Jenna fears CeCe? The truth is that Jenna did not know that the Charlotte DiLaurentis that she read about in the paper was the CeCe Drake that she feared. She went to visit this girl, and was surprised to see the face that awaited her. Jenna and Charlotte eventually bonded once Jenna realised she doesn’t need to be afraid of Charlotte anymore.
Ian’s reasonings for committing suicide can be read here.
Mona’s reasonings for being A can be explained here.
Uber A is the smartest of all, according to Marlene. Arguably, the smartest person on the show is (Mona, but she’s already been A, so we are left with) Spencer. The only person smarter than Spencer is her sister Melissa, which the writers teased in 225. She is playing a game. She has been there since the very beginning, always watching. Never sent A messages, but always watching. She can be connected to EVERY single plot in the show. No other character can. She has A’s tone, referring to the liars as “bitches” in 324.
Melissa has been protecting Spencer since before it started, and now she needs someone to take the fall of the murder she committed. In 711 she declares it is “play time!” with the girls - she really is getting sick and tired of them not handing over a potential killer so she can walk free from her own crime.
If you’ve made it this far, I’d like to say THANK YOU! For my final theory ever for PLL, I couldn’t be more proud. So many loose ends were covered here. I will admit, I was scared to post this for my bold claims about Alison and Melissa in particular (more so Alison). If I’ve left out any storylines, it’s because the post is already long enough, but also, I don’t feel they’re significant to the overall plot. Please remember that this is more than 2 months of work, and so rude messages will be deleted and you will be blocked, whilst constructive feedback is invited and encouraged. I sincerely hope you enjoyed my final efforts. That’s it from me... I’m all ‘theoried out’. Goodbye PLL theories, it was fun being a detective for 7 years!

Hanna Marin: the rundown
Season 1:
Hanna is portrayed as once ugly duckling turned Rosewood High's it-girl, equipped with faithful sidekick Mona, and sticky fingers when it comes to department stores. I think Hanna masked her insecurities by pretending to be someone full of confidence but she's really a good friend and cares about her mother. And even though her father is a dead beat piece of crap scumbag, she still loves him and that's a source of insecurities that have outgrown as the series progressed. I didn't like the chemistry between her and Sean and I like how that fizzled out when she met Caleb. A was definitely gunning for her with that car, she bounced back quickly.
Season 2:
Hanna went through it this season with her scumbag dad marrying Isabel but it wasn't a too eventful season for her individually. I'm glad Haleb reunited(and it feels so goood..sorry, started singing).
Season 3:
After all Mona has done to them over the course of the first two seasons, Hanna still went to visit her crazy ass. I don't think she should've given Mona the time of day after all that bullcrap. Mona had no reason for doing all that because she felt like they were stealing Hanna away from her boo hoo Hanna was loyal to her and got stabbed in the back in return. I think she gave Mona too much power over her. I think she should've told the girls.
Season 4:
I think Hanna's connection with the girls got stronger as a whole this season. Hanna and Caleb got weaker-say what you want but this is the third breakup and he left her to figure out the secrets of a town that he's been to once with a girl he met on a bus, get real. I'm a Haleb shipper.
Season 5:
I feel like her identity crisis was for no reason and she slipped back into the slump of insecure Hanna. She didn't know who she was when Alison came back so she tried to be the person she wasn't, switching up her style so they look opposite and drinking way too much. I'm glad she realized the problem before it became a real one. I think that Hanna could've avoided the whole Ali made me mentality she had and just do her. Alison influenced her to upgrade herself but she damn sure didn't make her. Hanna is a stronger person than she gives herself credit for, and I would've loved if it'd been approached differently. At the same time I don't like how she wanted to get her out of town, I know she doesn't feel her true self when Ali is around but don't convince her to leave when she's in danger, Hanna is so much better than that. Hanna and Travis were cute for a minute but he's no Caleb. How Mona's "death" effected her showed a lot about forgiveness and how she can't help but be loyal. Moving on the 5b, how pissed was I when she got arrested? Very.
Season 6:
The peak of her maturity. I think that you could truly see how much she grew as a person. Her and Caleb were solid and there for one another. Her bond with her friends was strong as per usual. I love how they stuck together and got out of the dollhouse in the premiere. Flashing forward I'm glad she semi followed her dreams. When I found out that Haleb wouldn't be together when we came back for 6b I was salty about it, but Jordan seemed like a great guy and I think if she had not been summoned to rosewood that they would've made it. It seemed like he was willing to help her with whatever. I felt bad for him when she gave him the ring back. Ok the Haleb thing-----Caleb took a job in the city Hanna wanted to be with, with a salary that would allow her to follow her dreams, only to be neglected. I feel she was acting out of her character when they moved. Hanna always takes Caleb into consideration but then she didn't. Let's be clear, Hanna is an ASSISTANT, she's not some high up in the fashion industry that's making millions and jet setting across the globe, there was no reason to put being an assistant over a boyfriend who would do anything to make you happy. Hanna and Caleb were broken up for years and during the course of the breakup did not see each other. I don't feel like she should have been acting interested once he got with Spencer, that's not being a good friend. I'm a Haleb shipper and I think that their relationship post A should've been done better. Keep them together or apart. How many people have been with someone for two years, haven't seen them in 3 years and then see them and bam get back together? Nobody that's not realistic. Given the timeline of the show they've spent more years apart than together. Her taking charge- or so she thought, by trying to trick AD made my eyes roll back in my head. Although she didn't deserve the actions that followed- she pretty much put herself in harms way leading her to being kidnapped
Season 7:
Hanna was put through absolute hell by AD. In my opinion more physical pain happens to her and Emily. I'm glad that her and Caleb are getting back together and sealed the deal and that he gave her a sense of security after all the hell she's gone through. I do t think she should've gone rogue and went after Noel but I didn't hate it when she knocked his smart ass out. She should've thought it through and told the other girls. Several parallels happened with her thinking for a second time that Noel was A and her needing Mona to coach her into a lie again.
Favorite moments so far:
Haleb's first time Her style
Hanna being so accepting when Emily came out to her
Hanna's freak out when she saw that A signed her cast
"She's blind, she can't hear us"
To Jenna when they found out she could see "aren't you a sight for sore eyes"
Showing up to Jordan's office in that killer red outfit
"Why am I beeping I haven't even stolen anything yet"
Haleb 7a finale reunion
What I want from her in the final 10 episodes:
I want her to be happy with Caleb post AD. I want her to have the marriage and start the family that she wants. I can't wait to see how amazing her dress will be if she gets married on screen

TØP Weekly Update #26: I Saw a Concert This Week, and I Don’t Even Know If That’s the Most Exciting Thing (2/19/16)
Basically, just read the title, we’ve got too much stuff to cover this week, let’s goooooooooo!
This Week’s TØPics:
Grammy Win: Yes, It’s a Week Old, But Let’s Just Reminisce, Shall We?
New Video Series: Who Are the Sleepers? (oof, that might be the most click-bait thing i’ve ever written, someone remind me to edit that ou- you, hush, you’re not supposed to be reading my notes)
Interview Recaps: Blurryface Returning For Future Projects?
Upcoming Shows: Southwest to Southeast in One Week
Major News and Announcements:
Obviously, the biggest news since the last time I posted a full update is from the Grammys: they fricking won one, and they did it pantsless. Everyone and their Mom knows: I even did a Mini-Update because I knew I couldn’t go seven days without acknowledging it, so I won’t go too far in-depth. But, suffice to say, they slayed, rubbing elbows with entertainment elites, being imitated by James Cordon, getting the attention of everyone from Gordon Ramsay to the Rock on Twitter, bowing to Celine Dion, killing it on the red carpet with their plus-ones (Josh brought Jenna, his mom, and his sister, while Josh brought his brother Jordan- all, frankly, looked right at home among Hollywood’s most beautiful.
The only other main “news” story (if you could call it that) is that Mark has started releasing another tour diary video series. The soon-to-be five-part series comes with a unique title, “Sleepers”, and the first one is mainly edited around the song included in the title of the video, “We Don’t Believe What’s On TV”, including a soundcheck acoustic performance of the track. Does that mean that “Sleepers” refers to “sleeper hits” and that every episode will feature a performance of a Blurryface song that never got to be a radio hit? Does the title have something to do with “Oh Ms. Believer”? Is it a hint at the next album? Will I ever get a life? The world may never know.
Anywho, the important thing is that this honestly might be the best video Mark’s ever shot- it’s edited so, so dang well. Plus, it features a lot of Josh, which is always a great thing: his interviews here contain him confessing that their last break was driving him crazy (hopefully a good sign that they’ll try to make the next one short), wandering the streets of Newark at night and talking to folks out of a desire to see more than just a lot of dressing rooms during his touring experience, and him and Tyler recreating one of the band’s most iconic Vines on a treadmill (#TruFans will know).
Performances, Interviews, and Other Shenanigans:
Holy crap, I can’t believe I complained about too few interviews last week. *deep breath* OK. Let’s go.
First, I need to acknowledge that I went to their second show in Anaheim. While the first show apparently had some problems involving screwed up communication between early campers and venue security, things seemed to have all fallen into place, save for the minor hitch of Tyler having a bit of a cold that added a bit of extra nasal to his speaking voice and, as he humorously noted on stage, caused him to sneeze on-stage for the first time in their career. That wasn’t the only nifty thing from a show this week- as pictured above, Tyler gave Josh a Valentine’s Day rose in Fresno, and the first Anaheim show was attended by Kate Hudson (who praised the band on Ellen, #TOPonEllen) Muse frontman Matt Bellamy, and their young children, as well as (if Twitter is to be believed) Gerard Way himself.
The first Anaheim show was preceded by an awesome acoustic set for an L.A. radio station (I’ve missed those, wish they did more). Highlights include:
An acoustic remix/mashup of “Ride” with the “House of Gold” (and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”) instrumentation that’s just too good for words.
Tyler trying to get a kid in the audience to sing parts of “Stressed Out” and oh my God he’s such a freaking dad.
When asked, Tyler confirms that the break between album cycles will be longer than previous ones- he says that he can’t write without singing his lyrics, and that means he can’t write much when he has to be careful about maintaining his voice on their almost-daily touring schedule. He also says that he enjoyed getting to be an actual person during the last break, from doing stuff around the house like fixing the toilet and changing the oil to just being able to drive himself around and remember “Oh yeah, you can turn right on red”. That said, he doesn’t really want to take too long off, especially when he knows what its like when artists he enjoys take off years at a time. He also trolls the audience at one point, asking “What do you guys want to hear? Cool, new album.” (Oof, this is torture.)
He talks a bit about the Grammys, namely getting texts from everyone he’s ever known (including his mom’s neighbor), probably stealing his speech from a Disney movie, and it being cold.
On collaborations like with Mutemath, Tyler emphasizes that he knows that people can tell when they are done just for the sake of marketing, and he firmly believes that collaborative art should come from a place of friendship (more on that later, although my conspirical (sic) brain has to note that it sure sounds like Tyler might have done more than just the Mutemath collab... I’m still watching you, labelmates).
Beyond that, there were also a bunch of other interviews that surfaced this week. The huge profile of the Grammy win earned them a couple of news spotlights, one from a Grammy after party where Jenna gets to answer a question or two, another from the local Columbus station going over the bands’ history in the town that’s just too cute for words. As far as interviews, highlights include:
SiriusXM, New York (Fan Submitted Questions):
They’re lurking on Twitter, watching those “buggers” that are making fun of them. Thankfully, that means we’re safe on Tumblr.
Being a bean helps Tyler escape awkward social situations.
Josh thinks that all of the fans who yell “I love you!” aren’t really thinking through the full ramifications of that statement, and that they really mean “I respect you”.
Tyler’s dad sends him band memes all the time, which led to him getting blocked.
“TB Saga” and “Coconut Sharks” don’t get played live because singing and playing the drums is difficult when you’re overwhelmed with emotion.
Every time they see someone with a band tattoo, Tyler and Josh are forced to acknowledge that they have to stay together “for the kids”. You heard the men. You know what to do.
Kevin Klein Line, Live 105, Bay Area:
Not sure how I feel about the interviewers being more sarcastic than the boys. There’s something fundamentally wrong about that.
“Baby Sized Man” may be a future single.
Future projects will be focused on the all-important Mom demographic.
106.5 Sacramento:
Tyler’s Grammy wins mean that more than a few folks are now obliged to get some tattoos.
This is big: Blurryface might not be retired for the next album. Tyler says that he continues to get new ideas about the same kind of ideas that Blurryface is based around. More on that in the BLIND SPECULATION section below.
10N1 Sacramento:
Tyler and Josh would not descend from the ceiling in the style of Gaga if they got the chance to play the Super Bowl. Giraffes, on the other hand...
Josh attributes his physique to Reeses Puffs and cinnamon. Cool, I’m almost there.
New Rock 104.1, Fresno:
“Dude, you’re like the best bro in the world.” -Tyler Joseph to Josh Dun, 2017 (Context: Pointing out that Josh totally could have let Tyler walk onstage solo and left him looking like an idiot.)
Josh explains the difficulty he faced getting his dress pants off.
An eating contest with Josh might replace Mario Kart in future shows (though it presents some potential nausea problems.
It’s not a Twenty One Pilots interview, but worth mentioning: Jon Bellion, who notoriously revealed that he’d be opening for the band months before it was officially announced, might have confessed that their teams might be collaborating on something.
As an update from last week: the full video from Andy Signs’ performance with the band last week was posted, and it’s so sweet. Twenty One Pilots have actually been up to all sorts of cool fan things this week, from meeting with more Make a Wish kids on the Grammy red carpet to hanging out with Kate Hudson’s kids before the first Anaheim show.
Upcoming Shows:
After spending most of last week in a single state, this week of touring has some real geographic range, pretty much spanning from one side of the United States to the other. Let’s take a quick look at the varied locales, shall we?
Show 23: Tucson Arena, Tucson, Arizona, 2/19
Capacity: 7,400
First stop is Tucson, the second largest city in Arizona. Twenty One Pilots has played six shows in the state capital of Phoenix, but poor Tucson has always been passed over for its neighbor two hours to the north, which both services more people and is physically closer to other potential tour stops. That will change tonight.
The arena at the Tucson Convention Center usually hosts the hockey team of the University of Arizona. It’s a smaller venue for this tour, but there aren’t many bigger options for this area.
Show 24: BOK Center, Tulsa, Oklahoma, 2/21
Capacity: 13,600
Tulsa is a fifteen hour drive from Tucson (might be time to bust out the private jet again). A fairly active cultural center in the otherwise pretty empty region of the country, Tulsa. The band has played three shows in Tulsa, though the last two concerts they’ve played in the state of Oklahoma were in the eponymous capital, so this will be a minor homecoming.
The Bank of Oklahoma Center lacks any regular tenets other than the minor league Oilers hockey team, it keeps the lights on with basketball championships and concerts like these. It’s a pretty interesting building that features a lot of diverse artwork from throughout the region.
Show 25: American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas, 2/22
Capacity: 21,000
The tour then moves south to the great state of Texas for what is, surprisingly, the only stop in the territory on this tour. That said, it makes sense to place the stop in Dallas, which, when combined with neighboring Fort Worth and several other nearby cities, makes up the largest metropolitan population in the country outside of New York, L.A., and Chicago. This show will be Twenty One Pilots’ twentieth show in Texas and their eighth in the Dallas area. Fans may remember that the last show they played in this area back during the last leg of the Roadshow fell the day after the fatal shooting of several Dallas police officers; Tyler gave what, in my mind, is easily one of his Top 3 best speeches at that show.
This show’s venue is one of the biggest on the tour, in an apparent effort to make up for the strangely small size (relatively speaking) of the last show, which could only fit a little over 6,000 folks; the American Airlines Center, known by some as “The Hanger”, can hold more than three times that number. The Hanger is the home of the NHL Stars and NBA Mavericks, and is a local landmark.
Show 26: Legacy Arena, Birmingham, Alabama, 2/24
Capacity: 19,000
Next stop is Alabama's most populous city, Birmingham. The band hasn't played the city since early in 2013, though they've played near Alabama's southern shore a few times since then. The city will be welcoming them back in one of the state's biggest venues located in Birmingham's convention complex.
Show 27: Greensboro Coliseum, Greensboro, North Carolina, 2/25
Capacity: 23,000
Last on the list for this week is Greensboro, North Carolina's third largest city behind Raleigh and Charlotte. Greensboro and its Coliseum has had a pretty interesting history over the last few years involving struggles to hold on to minor league hockey and basketball teams and, notably, Bruce Springsteen's cancellation of a concert in the venue due to the state's backwards transgender discrimination law. Hopefully the Twenty One Pilots concert will go much more smoothly.
Community Spotlight:
Keeping it short and sweet this week: artist/comedian Hannah Hoffman makes funny content (not all related to Twenty One Pilots, of course, but even that stuff’s good, too).
BLIND SPECULATION OF THE WEEK:
Calling back to the central topic of most of the interviews from earlier, I must ask: what’s up with Blurryface returning in upcoming albums? Does that mean that we might have been getting clues about upcoming music this whole time?
In a word: no. In another word: yes? Confused? Good.
I don't think there was any indication at the start of the cycle that Tyler and Josh were planning on carrying Blurryface past his eponymous album cycle, for the simple reason that such things were too far in the future for them to worry about at the time. You have to remember that Blurryface was the first album where Tyler really worked on building a story with the songs more than just grouping them around his own life experience, feelings, and maybe a general underlying theme or idea. Around 2015, I'm sure Tyler was thinking about a million different possibilities for future projects, but he was by no means tied down to one course of action or another.
However, in recent months, Tyler has constantly been talking about how all of his creative ideas have been coming out of what he's experienced during this album cycle. That, I think, ensured that the character would continue to exist, even more than just how successful Blurryface was for them as a band. Tyler has always written from what he has experienced, but with all of the success of the last few years, he's gotta be running short on compelling things to write about. He's experienced so much tremendous success that it's doubtful he'll ever have to worry about doubting his decisions or fearing utter failure again. Frankly, the dude's been so busy working that I wonder how much of his own personal life he even has left to write about. That leaves the illogical manifestation of anxiety that Blurryface represents- that gnawing feeling that it's all been a fluke and everything good is temporary- as one of the few real things he can write about that he's personally experienced and that will still be relevant to his audience.
Of course, Tyler hasn't just written from his own experience; songs like "Guns For Hands" have drawn off of what Tyler has seen in his fans when he's shared his music with them. While Blurryface was very much an album about making music and expressing yourself as an artist, what I've heard from Tyler and Josh so far about how the touring has been informing their music gives me reason to believe that a lot of Album 5 will look at how Blurryface, the ideas he represents, and the music they made to fight him has impacted other people. That excites me.
So, back to the original question: Do I think Tyler's given us any direct hints at future songs yet? I think it's a distinct possibility. Though we haven't been getting any lyrical tweets from him (save for maybe that "Friends close, enemies on the guest list" one), the dude talks so much and so eloquently that there's a veritable laundry list of potential lyrics floating around. We know that Tyler dropped lyrics from "Ride" in an interview well before that track's release. Ultimately, we're just gonna have to wait and see.
As always, but especially this week: power to the local dreamer.

TVD = The It Doesn’t Make SENSE Diaries {1x13 Review}
Welcome to the 13th review of season 1! As per usual, here are the guidelines: Considering that I haven’t sat down to watch a full episode of the past seasons of TVD in a few years and my memory might not be the greatest I will start with my usual disclaimer: I write my thoughts in real time so if I make a mistake at the beginning of this post, it will be corrected by the end. There will be anti-Damon and anti-Delena senitments and I feel the need to say there may be some anti-Jenna sentiments too. I will probably bring up other shows and call attention to misogynoir, racism and anti-blackness. OK. Ready? Let’s go.
1. Opening scene of Damon helping Katherine murder two people and yeah Human Damon is a lot meeker but that doesn’t mean that this grown ass 20-something year old man was “done in” by Katherine, he knew exactly what he was doing and doesn’t actually seem to struggle with her killing two people, he just seems mildly uncomfortable and then he kisses her with their blood on her lips, the fact that he has a “Aw gee” meek demeanour doesn’t make him any less of an an accessory to murder, guys.
2. Elena and Stefan cuddling as they wake up! So cute! The way she smiles when she wakes up in his arms and how he kisses her, omg.
3. I also just realized that the door is still open when Elena brings Stefan back into bed so like not only does she not give a shit if Damon hears them fucking, she doesn’t care if he happens to pass by either. But seriously, how can anyone say they didn’t have amazing sex, she’s like um excuse me, half-naked God of a man in my bed, I’m not done.
4. Seriously, Giuseppe doesn’t realize that his two sons are sleeping with the same woman in one house? HOW?
5. Also, legit Damon would’ve been married with kids by now. Stefan wouldn’t be too far off either, it would actually be interesting if they were at least promised to two other women and then Katherine came. Like if Katherine convinced Damon to destroy his life, leave his kids, leave his wife so they can run away for an eternity together and then went oh btw, your brother is coming with us and then set the series of events in motion in which the town was at war with itself and Damon spent over a century waiting for her and feeling the guilt of having abandoned his wife and children for her but holding on to the idea that this woman he did all these things for will finally reunite with him only for her to be gone? Then that would be way more interesting and have way more emotional stakes than what we have now.
6. Yep, let’s just brush over the fact that Emily is enslaved. Pearl also would not be so easily accepted.
7. No seriously, how OLD is Anna? When did she turn?
8. And I never got why Pearl wouldn’t just leave Katherine behind. Like yo if they have vervain in elixirs and they’re trying to find vampires, I’m about to LEAVE.
9. “You were sad, Ben, you lacked purpose, you needed me.” I don’t understand this idea of vampirism = purpose because the show doesn’t expand on that. As a vampire your emotions are heightened so if Ben was sad as a human, would he not just spiral into despair as a vampire? And also his “purpose” is to help Anna for her own agenda, how would Ben not realize that? At least in True Blood when Godric turns Eric, Eric is dying and Godric likes the fire he has because Eric was a viking and he was like do you want to be a companion of death? I will be your father, brother, son and friend. In TVD it’s just ... what?
10. “You know I really think that Damon believes that everything he’s done, every move he’s made, he’s done for love. It’s twisted but kind of sad.” HOW, ELENA? How was turning Vicki and leaving Stefan to clean up the mess done for love? How was abusing and raping Caroline done for love? And how can you speak so dispassionately about something when the people being affected are the people you’ve known since childhood? It doesn’t make SENSE. From the first season, Damon and in relation Delena is the biggest writing weakness.
11. Stefan: “There are other ways to get what you want, you don’t have to kill people” LIKE RIGHT THO? And Elena just tilts her head like, “Oh. True.” WHAT? This reminds me of a plot line in Friday Night Lights, where a man attacks Tyra and tries to rape her but she manages to fight him off but then he comes back again and tries to rape her so Landry kills him. After a while, the attacker’s brother asks to see all of his brother’s victims to apologize on behalf of him and Tyra is uncomfortable doing it so choose Landry to go in her stead and his brother is like, I’m sorry he never used to be like this ... he was the only one who took care of me, my dad ran off and my mom was too drunk to feed us and Landry is like, you know what, pretty much every person in Dillon has the exact same story and they don’t turn out to be rapists! Same THING.
12. Also, I have a question about these journals ... does every Founding Family have their own set of journals? And if they do, since they make up the council, shouldn’t they you know SHARE these journals with each other? Like why is it so singular?
13. OK, schools do get locked you know.
14. Paul commands such presence in his scenes, seriously when Alaric discovers he’s a vampire and Stefan just dashes him to the desks and tells him to sit? I would not want to cross him.
15. The woman who plays Pearl has so much more presence than Nina and she comes across as older -- because she is -- so for her to take point from Katherine is like, why? I don’t get it.
16. “I never asked for your respect.” “Good for you, Damon. Because all I have is disappointment.” Said every sane viewer ever.
17. IT MAKES NO SENSE THAT STEFAN AND DAMON WOULDN’T GROW UP LEARNNG ABOUT AND HATING VAMPIRES.
18. Also, I missed when Damon went over to Elena’s house. And him being in the kitchen cooking is like, that’s cute, Stefan did that 8 episodes before, you’re late.
19. His grin is annoying.
20. “You met Damon.” “Who do you think killed my wife.” Oh yes, ALL for love.
21.Elena feeling guilty about lying to Damon is like, remember that time he nearly killed Bonnie? Remember that time he nearly killed Caroline? Remember that time he killed Tanner? Remember that time he turned Vicki?
22. And so Jenna and Jeremy aren’t a little bit curious why a grown ass man is hanging around Elena and why he’s at their house? When Angel is in Buffy’s house, she has to lie to her mom and tell her he’s in college and that he’s her tutor and Joyce side-eyes the hell out of that so Buffy has to sneak him up to her room. If you’re making sexy eyes at the man, Jenna, then he should not be around your niece the way Damon is.
23. “Elena and I are bonded for life, I can’t imagine it any other way. She’s my sister, I mean, I’d die for her.” WHY. WHY. WHY. WHY BONNIE. Elena hasn’t done anything in these 13 episodes that would warrant such loyalty.
24. Also, Damon just told Elena that he won’t let anyone get in his way when it comes to getting Katherine back, like it was a threat, and when they find out the journal is gone and that Jeremy is the only other person who knows about it and he walks back into the house that determined and Elena is just like “Damon, leave him out of it ...” I would panic especially considering that Damon had already negatively impacted Jeremy’s life by turning Vicki.
25. Yeah, this Giuseppe is stern and a hard-ass but I didn’t get the impression he was this tyrannical, abusive father. In 1x20, Stefan does say even in our death you only feel shame so like I don’t get a sense of closeness with Giuseppe and either brother but I really do feel like they turned him into a monster in season 7 as an attempt to excuse Damon’s behaviour because we all know if you’re forced to eat your pet bunny nearly two hundred years ago you have to act out and kill people.
26. Stefan, why are you giving Elena a shovel too to dig up your father’s grave, you can vamp speed that shit.
27. Seriously. Paul’s sighs when Nina is kissing his stomach and chest, like ...
28. I forgot Bonnie actually kisses Ben.
29. WHY would you open the grimoire there? Vamp speed the dirt back into the grave and then go. HOME.
30. Oh shut UP, Damon, you’ve caused this town so much damage, Elena owes you nothing.
31. It’s also super gross that Damon sniffs Elena’s hair as he hands her back to Stefan after force-feeding her his blood.
32. It really bothers me that the show is substituting vampires for the enslaved without talking about the enslaved, like it takes some kind of privilege and entitlement to have a show set in the South and flashing back to 1864 and NOT talking about it.
33. To be fair, Stefan didn’t tell Giuseppe that he was sleeping with a vampire, he was just like so maybe we shouldn’t kill all of them. I get that in the heat of the moment, Damon would blame Stefan but like 100 and some odd years later? Fam, let it go. Or if the point is that he can’t let it go and the older he gets the more stuck in time he becomes, that needs to be displayed more.
34. I love that forehead kiss and Stefan and Elena holding hands till the very last minute is their aesthetic.
35. Wow, Jenna being semi-active! “You know you’re not staying the night, right? Keep the door open.”
36. Pearl’s death is probably the most moving part of the episode.Much better than Damon’s man pain.
Thanks for reading!

Surprise! The Sequel. [TVD 1x12 Review]
Welcome to the 12th review of season 1! OK. Ready? Let’s go. I love how Stefan and Elena are lying down on her bed, talking about what’s happening in the town, that level of intimacy just in the fact that they’re together on her bed and it isn’t sexual, it’s about how comfortable they are with each other. I still think it’s bullshit that Jeremy would invite the pizza guy in. I also really hate this scene because I want more details, like at least see vampire hoodie dude get into a car with the actual pizza delivery guy bleeding in the backseat. Paul’s jeans fit much better now. Omg Paul is just all chiselled features. This man is beautiful. “Oh yeah, Elena and I had a blast!” You two were barely together. Yay, more lunch! Sorry, I just couldn’t recall when they ever ate lunch so the fact that I’m seeing them eat it makes me happy because DETAILS. If only we got a class other than history that wasn’t in a dream. “If it’s what you and Matt want then it’s not about me.” We don’t ever get a conversation like this about Steroline, like Elena just kept her mouth shut and she never talks about SC as a couple, which I find telling. I also never understood why Nina uses her left hand to brush the right side of her face, like her hair out of her face, I always found that weird. Lol Elena leaves Bonnie with the bill. Of course. And doesn’t say thank you. It really annoys me that the first guy to show interest in Bonnie in the show is just using her. Ugh. Especially since they could’ve been really hot. And cute. I’m annoyed. “It’s because we’re predators, Elena. We hunt, we stalk, it’s often as exciting as the kill.” See, Stefan never once distances himself from the darker aspects of vampirism, so I don’t know where the DErs get of saying he pretends to be a saint. The way he strokes her face, omg. Matt and Caroline are so cute, their almost paint fight and the way he says, “I MEAN I thought you always told everyone else what to do.” OK so Elena and Jenna do have separate cars. “I’m really sorry it won’t be any help for your Diabolical Plan. The Sequel.” I love dry Stefan so much. It’s kind of funny watching Ian’s hyperactive eyebrows against Paul’s pretty stationary ones. “See that’s your problem, Damon, you apply all of your shortcomings to everyone else.” Ha, could say the same thing about DE shippers. So, funny story. When I had cable and would watch my teen dramas, my mother would always complain about them and say how much she hates them but then I would see her standing in the hall watching them over my back. Happened with OTH. Happened with Gossip Girl. And it happened with TVD. So I’m at the scene where Elena is doing her hair and the compass is on her bed. I remember being soooooooo into the scene, like OMG THE SUSPENSE THE COMPASS IS MOVING and then I just hear my mom yell, “She is STUPID. If you’re in a town overrun by vampires and your vampire boyfriend gives you a vampire compass that finds vampires would you not have that damn compass everywhere you go??? SHE’S AN IDIOT. What’s her name? I don’t like her.” Lol. And now eight years later, I tend to agree. It’s funny, in KDramas when a loved one’s number is saved it’s always something like “My Yoon Jae” or “My Gyu-woon” so just seeing “Elena Gilbert” on Stefan’s phone is like … aww, come on, can’t it be “My Elena”??? lol. Although tbh I probably wouldn’t like that. Kdramas get away with a lot of things that American TV can’t. Aww Stefan’s hand on Elena’s leg as they talk about the vampire. So sweet. Simple gesture but it shows his protectiveness and his need to comfort her. And then when Elena slips her hand over his to comfort him for being worried about her. My feeeeeeeeeeeeels. Also Paul is total James Dean here. Who was that person who said Ian was more James Dean than Paul? Like … WHAT? “What’s Damon doing here?” At least Bonnie looks mildly indignant. Also it takes some kind of gall to stand before Bonnie and Caroline, two people who Damon had tried to kill and not feel a type of way. I do still find Elena’s *turn to Stefan* “May I have this dance?” to be hilarious and necessary. And Stefan’s smile is amaaaaazing. Paul’s hands are kinda low on Nina’s hips, lmao. Anna’s hair is a little weird. “You’re doing that thing again, where you pretend we’re dating even though we’re not” LOL that was a little harsh. The way Anna brushes it off is cool though. I actually just noticed that when Matt walks up to Caroline and Bonnie at the Grill he’s actually smiling until Caroline is classist af. Also totally forgot that Stefan and Elena actually have a blast dancing before he pretends he won’t dip her, like they’re smiling SO goofily. And Damon is looking at them jealous for absolutely no reason because he’s hardly spent any time with Elena but seriously, that’s what love looks like Damon. The fact that Damon can call himself Stefan’s legal guardian and none of the adults side eye his relationship with Elena? When she’s supposed to be the Rory Gilmore of Mystic Falls, beloved by the town? “Tonight was so much better on paper.” Just like how the SC relationship was so much better on paper? I get it, Caroline. Lmao I’m watching all these other people dance and yeah Paul’s hands on Nina’s hips has me like mmmhmm. Lol he moved them up to her waist. Oh back to the hips. Their dance kiss is still one of my favourites, like it just shows how much he loves her. The way Damon dances with that blonde is utterly ridiculous. ALSO LOL. “My Boyfriend’s Back” is a song I did a vid to for Steroline and Stelena back in the day, I didn’t realize they played it in 1x12. It’s actually good to see Elena active in a scene. This is one of my favourite Elena’s scenes [when she fights with Noah] One of the things I actually like about the Stefan torturing Noah scene is Damon’s facial expressions in the background because he knows how much Stefan loves Elena so he’s just like lol yeah you shouldn’t play tough because he WILL make you suffer. Also seriously, Stefan’s intensity in this scene, that type of protectiveness over Elena that isn’t shown through “I will break your arm” so much love. I think I really like Mattoline because it reminds me of me and my best friend in high school and it’s really realistic. I also like the Mattoline kiss, it’s very cinematic. Also find it cute that Elena is on her couch and Stefan is making her tea in her kitchen because they’re just so at home with each other. And the way she looks at him giving her the tea, like isn’t my boyfriend so considerate? “It’s going to take a lot more than a road trip and a rescue for me to forget who Damon really is.” Oh, so the necklace was the dealbreaker then? Also, it wasn’t a road trip, he kidnapped you. Also y’all are acting like he hasn’t damaged this town and that he’s just a dick. For Stefan that makes sense but Elena honestly should not be this calm. At least with Spike, Xander and Willow only stop fearing him when there’s a chip in his head that makes it impossible for him to feed on humans so he’s no longer a threat to them. This was a weak ending.
