Too tired to write a deep analysis post rn but do you think there’s some significance in EC carving EC on his sea chest (maybe/possibly at the beginning of the voyage) -> “Hickey” carving Hickey and CH on the Hickey knife (maybe/possibly sometime in mutiny camp/after the walkout)?? Like he carves his old name/initials on stuff when he’s becoming someone new or starting a new chapter. Carves EC into his sea chest as they set off -> casts off EC’s identity to become Cornelius Hickey. Carves Hickey onto his knife once he’s in mutiny camp -> casts off any name/identity to (attempt and obviously fail to) become Tuunbaq’s shaman. Reconfigure reinvent rearrange etc etc. Does this make any sense or is this just a bunch of words thrown together

He's still got that aloof energy of original Swap!Pap, mixed in with a bit of silly because I can't *not* give him a fun sword :)

Bonus, old designs!

These (from left to right) are: His first ever design in 2019(ish), a redesign from my first big design overhaul 2020(?), and then another attempt from what I believe is 2022(?).

Rust was always kinda the second thought back when I first came up with his design, but it's a lot more intentional now! He and Blue never really had a chance at nabbing high-quality outfits so his is a lot simpler than most of the cast (especially in a cyberpunk setting). He's intentionally got that young-ish whimsy to him still since he's Blue's younger brother, I don't want him to be another depressed middle-aged guy in the story. He does the skeleton-equivalent of vaping and would absolutely love a good episode of Voltron or Demon Slayer. That electric sword of his was a gift from Blue for his birthday one year. It serves him well.

I needed to cut his arm around the three sides latsr so that it can he could be posed like Rin here! Luckily he was still salvageable :)

I spent my morning showing rotating groups of grade 3's and 4's how to apply fractions to real life by getting them to halve a given recipe for sour cream and onion dip, rewrite the new measurements, and then MAKE IT!!!! and they have a herb garden in their class so they harvested fresh dill and carefully chopped it with a little paring knife and they had so much fun :)))

the posthoot friday night inspired me to finish my mom and dad tholomule designs - their names are Atticus and Fiona 💛 Atticus is both boys’ bio dad, but Fiona is Matt’s biological mother and adopted Steve when she married Atticus. They both work in the Construction Coven which takes them away from home a lot, which is why Steve had to help raise Matt 💛 they attended Hexside, but worked in Latissa for many years before moving back to Bonesborough sometime during Season 1 (in order to put Matt into Hexside after Steve brought it to their attention he was being bullied at school). (I also worked on designs for Atticus’s siblings, one of whom is Boscha’s three-eyed-mom - I’ll post those hopefully soon but yeah the matt and boscha cousins HC is so personal and real to me)

I dunno why everyone says they hate grooming and hand stripping dogs. I find it so soothing. I would probably go for hours if Arthur didn't let me know he was done with it.

Something, something, ec-4o!Geno totally studied psychology in his freetime, it was his passion aside from programming, and he sees everyone and just kinda... subconsciously clocks their trauma?

Like, he's not the best guy ever so he usually uses it *against* people, but the further into the story? When he realizes he has friends again? He's careful about making loud sounds around Horror. He makes sure to warn Reaper when he's entering a room. He's always keeping his distance from Error and the other etcos. Most damningly he clocks that Dust has something, he can't quite pinpoint it, but he notices he's talking to someone.

He does that thing where he tries to play along one time, and lies and says he can see Phantom. Dust kinda freaks a bit, but just kinda swears Geno to secrecy. And then every time Dust starts to act weird or talk to phantom, Geno gets a general target location and just wafts him away or de-escalates towards the air instead of Dust. And it works, and he's a lot less stressed. But then. Y'know. Geno starts noticing the static impressions left on screens around the workshop. The ones that fizzle and follow Dust? The ones that are... vaguely person-shaped?

ik ikkkk like I can't get too excited about this book because I'm overwhelmed with the fear that it's going to change too much ...I hope it doesn't span much further than the end of tkm because that way there's not much new that could be said about the foxes, and I really hope that we don't see any cameos or anything from them because like you said I like how things were wrapped up and I like how it left things really open so you could fill in your own blanks (and aftg fans have gone crazy with that) idk like I feel like such a wet blanket about it but i just don't want changeeee
