my villain origin is the frustration I have that all the desensitization training and positive reinforcement I've done has allowed me to

hold my dogs paws like we're besties in kindergarten

give him paw massages and even go between his toes

play with his claws

rub the clippers across his whole body

tap the clippers on his nails

but in five goddamn years as soon as I try to clip the tiniest piece from his giant talons he turns into a inflatable dancing noodle with teeth and sounds like I'm torturing him and he can escape the grasp of five grown men together like a greased pig

I've mostly resigned myself to He Will Never Allow the Claw Clipping but then I get shamed so much by the vet and the groomers and other people about how long his claws are but when I go to the groomer they also tell me his quicks are super long and they're not receding so what am I supposed to do!!!!!

I love sitting in my room and thinking "is that me wheezing?" only to realize that, no, it's my weird 15 lb dog named Miles and wheezes like he's one of the Wheezers.

12 years ago yesterday we found the best friend I have ever had. It's two months without her now and I have never been more empty. It's led to a magical thinking where I feel I can conjure her presence and sometimes feel it nearly as strongly as her absence. Am I delusional? Does it matter? She made me better at loving and caring and every day was a gift.

Monsieur Acorn never had a chance.
