One thing that’s interesting about Ever After High is, when you look at how long some fairy tales have been around in real life, is how much longer some generations of a story are compared to others

The Adventures of Pinocchio was first serialised in 1881-1882 and then published in 1883, and since the story doesn’t say or imply it may have taken place any time before that era, let’s assume that in the EAH universe, the first Pinocchio happened in the early 1880s. Since the average generation time is 20-30 years and assuming that EAH is meant to take place in the 2010s since that’s the era it was released in, that makes Cedar the 5th-7th person meant to enact the Pinocchio story.

Then there’s Beauty and The Beast, where the first version was published in 1740. Using the same method as before, that would make Rosabella the 10th-14th person meant to enact the BATB story, basically double the length of Cedar’s generational line.

THEN there’s Little Red Riding Hood, where the first written version is from 1697, which would make Cerise around the 17th or less expected Red Riding Hood, EXCEPT that we know Little Red Riding Hood was being told orally pre-17th century, and that the story was told by French peasants in the 10th century and that the earliest known precursor of the Red Riding Hood story was recorded by Egbert of Liège in around 1023, which could make Cerise, at the most, the 55th Red Riding Hood

And that’s NOT EVEN getting into Cinderella, where the earliest considered known variant is the story of Rhodopis which was recounted sometime between 7 BC and AD 23.

kinda realising just how genius the roommate pairing of blondie and cupid is, because they both feel the need to present fake versions of themselves to the people around them in order to be accepted. blondie lying about her heritage and feeling like she'd be isolated for having normal parents, and cupid with her hiding the entire world of monster high and having to assimilate to a completely foreign environment because her duty doesn't allow her to settle down.

Okay. Cedar Wood is horrifying.

Like not her, she is best girl and you can't convince me otherwise. But like her curse is horrifying. Like she's got Ella Enchanted truth-curse. She can't have any privacy which means no one really deeply talks to her because she is forced to reveal private information even if she doesn't want to indulge it.

It hurts her and she understands why people don't get close to her and she's just...deserves better.

And like she's the next Pinocchio, right? And before Raven goes "NOPE, NOT SIGNING", everyone believes if you don't do your role, you disappear and by extension, everyone in your story disappears.

But like, by her very curse, Cedar cannot complete the role. Because Pinocchio spends the majority of it being the biggest liar ever? Like sure, his nose might reveal the fact he is lying. But he can choose to lie. He just does not have a poker face.

Exactly how is Cedar supposed to complete her role when she cannot lie at all?

Been thinking about a Neverafter and Ever After High crossover where Destiny’s Children end up in EAH’s world. A world that is built on the stories being repeated generation to generation. Imagining them meeting their story counterparts

I think Cerise and Ramona would both look at Ylfa, this wolf girl in a red hood, and think “oh my god we have to protect her.” And then Ylfa transforms and wrecks someone and they’re both like “o_o never mind.”

Cedar would be excited to meet another living puppet I think but Pinocchio might be a bit wary of her at first. But I think they’d end up bonding a lot. I can imagine Cedar acting like an older sister to Pinocchio.

I think meeting Rosamund would fuck Briar up a lot. Honestly it would also fuck Rosamund up a bit more as well. But they’d also find each other’s presence weirdly comforting I think?

Hopper’s initial reaction to Gerard would probably be disgust or fear unfortunately. He’d be very upset to learn why Gerard is back to being a frog. Hopper’s a romantic so him finding out Gerard’s wife fell out of love would be pretty devastating I think. Gerard could knock some sense into him though.

There isn’t a Puss in Boots in EAH so I imagine Pib just chilling with the next best cat option, Kitty.
