again and again i find myself lamenting that audio roleplay isn't taken more seriously by some people. like yeah, they often have a romantic element, and by nature they usually directly involve/address the listener- and i totally get that those things aren't to everyone's taste. no art or entertainment is universally appealing, and that's okay! but.. it still makes me a lil sad that the "cringe" reputation of asmr/audio rp precedes it. there's a whole lot of talent and creativity being poured into these audios by so many people that i feel goes unrecognized and/or disrespected simply due to the medium that the stories are being told through.

deciding to write bellum in a context beyond and different from what he's shown in in ph is kinda. something. because there's not a whole lot to him and there seems to be an intense focus on having things be 'in character' so it creates the interesting dilemma of. what even is 'in character' for bellum in the first place and are the conclusions i draw about him based off the little bit we get in game things that can be considered 'in character' or w/e, or is (almost) anything fair game since i'm working off of a list of concepts and actions rather than an actual written character

SO when i was watching the recent tsams ep where nexus talked w earth. honestly ngl although i get that he mightve been manipulative like. he wasnt Wrong??

specifically im thinkin abt what he said abt Earth not being a therapist bc like. yeah! true! and Earth responding by saying that she never claimed to be one was .... hrm. she... literally has a job as a therapist? even if shes not directly claiming to be one, shes still working as one and isnt correcting other people (and her patients) when they think/say she is one.

not to mention idk if its just me having this opinion within the fandom but i just Cannot get behind a therapist providing therapy to family members ;v; its just not a good thing to do bc of the power imbalances and bias inherent to forming close personal relationships with someone who you are medically treating,, which tbh is like. my primary gripe with Earth and why i just dont rlly like her (on a personal level. like, i like her as a character, but if i met her irl i wouldnt get along w her At All type beat)

Hi hello spoilers for the ENTIRETY of riptide (specifically episodes 78, 93, 110, tho the entire campaign ep1-ep115 is talked about here) and also. A read more since this is a very. Very. Long post. And i dont intend to colour of the sky you <3

Yknow im just thinkin like ik the common theory is that chips the nameless prince and im still pretty in agreement but im also. Thinking.

Bc i relistened to episode 78 where goobleck finds the book on the nameless prince. (32:35ish) And id basically entirely forgotten abt it until i relistened to 93, heard charlies sparknotes version n wanted to listen 2 it for myself. And like.

Im pretty sure, unless im interpreting grizzlys words wrong, that the nameless prince is whatever entity was mentioned in the 110 prophecy ?

Tho its hard because. He gave a summary of what the book was about since goobleck didnt properly read it i think he just kinda. Skimmed. And he started by saying that the book is about a prince, a self proclaimed prince at that, but mostly just an entity born in the abyss. So im not sure if that entity is the same person as the prince or if theyre two different people ???? But for the sake of Thinking ill say theyre the same bc i dont see why they wouldnt be.

But he goes on to say that this book talks about this abyss entity, and how it became obsessed w spreading corruption in a world of mostly peace. And how it wants to learn about the inhabitants of this world (?) And then the book ends in chaos and tragedy, where the entire world falls to corruption. The entity destroys all living things ("this race of living creatures") and then consumes even more worlds by spreading its abyss corruption. And how its also almost. Parasitic.

So. This sounds a lot like the 110 entity.

"An entity threatens world stability / caged in the deepest layers of infinity [...] forboded calamity, the chosen is warned / the shape of all life shall take a new form / its choice to be made with no time to mourn"

Definitely sounds like this entity is the same, it threatens world stability by spreading its corruption, and this infinity could be the abyss. The shape of all life line draws my attention tho bc of how grizzly described the entity as destroying "this race of living creatures" and like a parasite.

Althoughhhhh i will have to relisten to. The just rolled for episode 93 because i think it was then that the 3 players made their guesses as to who the guarding giant, nameless prince and unborn kings are and grizzly said One was correct. I know they guessed arlin as the guarding giant and i think niklaus chip or rose's kid were other guesses perhaps ? Tho im not sure as to Where they fit each.

Ill also have to relisten to the stone age what if. Because even though that what if probably doesnt contain much thatd be important since. Its a what if. And it was back in the desire arc. The ending of it reminds me a bit of the nameless prince section where the entity destroys more worlds by spreading its corruption. Andddddd yea if that what if means anything at all then that could suggest niklaus as the entity or the nameless prince ?

Something else that gets me though is the legend lore scroll itself. We all know about the guarding giant nameless prince and unborn kings but. What i keep thinkin on is the beginning and end:

"A map that is a guide and a key / passed around the hands of destiny / it leads to chaos infinity / beneath the seas / the guardian giant / the nameless prince / the unborn kings / all wait to be inevitably free"

The very end with the "inevitably free" sounds like. One line of the 110 prophecy ("its release in time an inevitability" IT being the entity) and niklaus' greatest desire: freedom.

There is a consistent theme of freedom throughout riptide - or instead, a need/want for it. Gillion and jay both work towards freedom from the elders and navy respectively, islands (and casinos) early campaign all wanted freedom from various curses, pirates strive to create freedom from the navys rule, navys claim to strive to create a world free of "chaos".

However, across the nameless prince skim read, the legend lore scroll, and the 110 prophecy, there are manyyyy many parallels between them. Parallels, which i spent about 2 hours brainrotting about yesterday

It has been a couple days since i have made this biggg graphic and ive had a lotta time to dwell on this all and think. Because there are definitely many reasons why chip could be the nameless prince - and like a lotta other people i Know he has a bigger role in the world of mana than it seemed at first. However, i do feel like that role isnt the role of the nameless prince.

I mean, i probably have forgotten some evidence since i havent rewatched the ENTIRE campaign in a littleeee bit, just random episodes i think would have points of interest. But so far, we dont exactly know a whole lot about the nameless prince, only that whoever it is, is waiting to be free, could be whatever entity these poems and texts talk of, and has links to the hole in the sea. There were also a lot of details in the hole during episode two of the oneshot, which could be linked back to the prince. Lemme justtttt. Get the notes i took during my rewatch of it.

So, on the staircase where the three had their flashbacks, there were a few engravings in the wall. Some were words in abyssal primordial which read "what do you desire", others were depictions of humanoids with gems and coins, some were depictions of slavery + power. However, one stood out to finn since whilst the others repeated, this one was unique and singular. And it was the mountain with a crown above it.

This ofc could be passed off as mostly unimportant since it appeared so very early in the campaign, but we all know grizzlys dming and worldbuilding style isnt like that - everything thats been mentioned so far has been important in some way or another, and events from incredibly early episodes still affect the present day.

Although, unfortunately, i am Not Smart. And dont really know what this could Mean.

Weve seen a few mountains throughout the campaign, and none that instantly feel connected to that. Theres the mountain they all climbed in 111 of course, but that just housed those ice pirates, not anything much to do with a prince. It did also make me think of edison kingdom, since that has a monarchy and is a stacked city, howeverrrrr i doubt it would be that since. I dont see the relevance.

The crown is of course the only part here we can really connect to anything, that being the nameless prince. Since, they are a PRINCE afterall (although i do think these names are more metaphorical than literal). There ARE other places throughout the campaign crowns appear (once again, edison, and queen) though i doubt the edison kingdom would be so important to what feels like personal riptide pirate story, and queen didnt exist much as a character until they were introduced in episode like. 80smth. And their name is only queen bc charlie started the bohemian rhapsody bit.

SOOO yea basically. Summed up. Shits addin up. And also not addin up. I have lots of thoughts on this stuff, howeverrrr like ive said before im. Not very good at analysing. And also not the most articulate either. All in all, i think chip could possibly not be the nameless prince, and whoever the nameless prince IS could be whatever entity has been mentioned around a lot. The end. Goodbye. Thanks 4 readin. I've been thinking a lot about Nox recently because I've figured Bard's arc out so well and right now they just seem like an extra (btw these guys are all old favorites I thought of them maybe even 3 years ago now and they're still stuck to me like baby opossums). but I've been thinkin about them lately! mostly about how their city is fighting a big monster and how Nox relates A Little Too Much to the monster and how their best friend is supposed to be the figurehead of light against the monster

I also just thought of two more scenes so you get to have them shoved down your throat with some context

(context: Bard is supposed to be a religious hero for the city but he doesn't believe in the god he's supposed to represent. he has light powers but that's just a thing he's been able to do his whole life but now everyone is calling him the Lightbringer and thinking he's the icon of Lady Light and when he doesn't know what to do he starts actually praying to her and becomes more devout. also he's like. 16)

but anyway. Bard goes to battle against the monster (he doesn't really do anything his job is purely symbolic) and at some point gets face-to-face with the thing who had seeked him out and totally overwhelms him (but doesn't do anything to him something something understanding being made into something you're not) and the people hell bent on protecting their icon beat the monster back (who lets them) and Bard was terrified out of his mind but Nox saw what the monster did and after that starts doing research and maybe tries to find the monster and talks to it

and then later in the story we have a parallel scene where Bard goes to find the monster and be face-to-face with it in battle and uses light against it (aided by Lady Light, his light on its own is not that powerful) which works but at this point the reader has followed Nox and understands the monster more and maybe doesn't want it to die? and that scene either ends with Nox pulling him back (thus committing heresy) or the monster killing Bard I haven't decided yet I just thought about it. I don't think Bard's arc is advanced enough for him to die yet (he hasn't started loving himself again) [plaintext: "he hasn't started loving himself again"].

so that's who's been causing me trouble they've been causing me emotional grief

Imo, Neytiri and Jake did not need that many kids, even if one of them died. I've read some theories about how the adopted kids, Kiri and Spider, have lots of parallels, but some of the roles the kids did could have been combined just to focus more on the individual characterizations over quantity

I said it before but Jake and Neytiri having such a large family right after being displaced and massacred from a literal genocide just.... doesnt seem like good timing esp since 15 yrs is just not far removed from such a horrific event for an entire peoples. Maybe the Omaticaya are just very resilient and adaptive, or maybe the director and writers just didnt think of the implications of that passage of time and the extended life expectancies of the Na'vi (they def could have waited a bit longer considering how young Jake and Neytiri were when they met).

But yea u def make a good point that many tropes and arcs could have fit into one or 2 characters rather than 3 + 1 1/2 lol. Now that im thinkin abt it, it would have been rlly cool and VERY unique if Jake and Neytiri had either

I just thought of these now so the ideas arent entirely fleshed out, but i just like the idea of the family Jake and Neytiri could have had being less nuclear while still consdering other parts of the clan. Neytiri having that many kids consecutively after witnessing genocide and then being sidelined most of the 2nd movie (then framed to be toxic and irrational) just put a bad taste in my mouth. Too many misogynistic implications that could have been lessened, if not eliminated, if the focus on AWOW wasnt to appeal to a western, patriarchal sense of "family" and "childhood".

blehh just brain-dumping abt the new Roger DLC trailer here but I'm thinkin abt what his arc might be. there's maybe an argument to be made that it'll go in a direction of "Roger grows a spine and learns to deal with his problems" but that's kinda just Randy's exact deal, and The Hound has mentioned that he's taking Roger in a slightly different direction than his DSaF counterpart specifically due to the two sharing a lot of idea-DNA.

My thoughts are that it'll focus on regrets about his past (failing med school, getting divorced, addiction, or possibly a continued struggle with alcohol?) and trying to be someone else ("id much rather be Scott than Roger") but idk i could be totally off. I haven't even started chapter 3 yet so maybe there's some crucial context I'm still missing.

oh also I haven't seen ANYONE mention that we're now at 4 out of the 1st 5 managers.

i agree w ur ideas!! im not very sure abt earth kingdom cats, but i was thinking thin/wispy/short fur would be more common for fire nation cats, resembling smoke/fire. maybe also tufted ears/tail tips... also resembling fire.

aang - donskoy, or one of those super-shorthair-basically-bald cats. not much to say about his fur, considering he has basically none. name time! skypaw -> skylight, but idk if it rlly fits.... maybe breezesomething? spring? flutter? hop? dunno.... also i wanted him to have a matching suffix with zuko sooo open to suggestions!

katara - dark brown classic tabby or leopard spot maine coon. was thinking her markings could resemble waves/water. also, she 100% has a thick mane on her neck i have to its so cute.... she would have a few scars from solo training. anyway name time rapidpaw -> rapidfloe. fits her quick-to-anger personality and her suffix would be after her mother (was thinkin floefur but it feels a bit basic but i def want it to be floesomething)

sokka - dark brown classic tabby or leopard spot maine coon. his design would be pretty similar to katara's. maybe a circle/moon on his chest? representing the whole wolf thing he has goin on and also yue :) i guess that would make him and katara's designs slight parallels, resembling the moon and the ocean. he would have a few scars from hunting. name time! wolfpaw -> wolfmoon. wolf for the whole wolf thing he has goin on, and he requested his suffix to be moon so he would never forget yue.

toph - not entirely sure what breed, but siamese/some sort of colorpoint cat. maybe ragdoll or a colorpoint bengal. i wanted her to feel like one of those fancy rich people cats ig... i dont have much to say abt her design. name time! badgerpaw -> badgerstrike. this one im suuuper not sure abt the name. it feels too.... just, meh? but most rock related prefixes also sound too bland, so im open to suggestions

suki - somali 100%. just... look. its perfect for her. i think a stub tail could fit to resemble her haircut. not much to say abt her design. name time! very sad to say i couldnt think of a good name for her... prefix ideas i got atm are grass, holly, dew, dawn, dusk, red (creative i know), maple, chestnut, ivy, thrush, pine.... ok this is getting too long suggestions r welcome...

zuko - tortoiseshell, dunno what breed. look at it. thats him bro... thats him... i think he would have wispy fur like fire/smoke but kept his fur short (...somehow) during his ponytail arc. he would def have ear tufts and a tuft at the end of his tail (think sol). the orange bits would resemble fire, like the rest of his ancestors on sozin's side. his scar would be more like brightheart's (book brightheart not official art brightheart) and would be more... ragged ig? he would've likely collected a lot of scars from his exile/rogue time form various fights with other cats, dogs, foxes... literally everything that moves. name time! sparkpaw -> sparklight, then eventually sparkstar. this name was for sure. spark = 'sparky'/the spark he lacked at birth, and light = the light he saw come from aang's reawakening. i guess it also sorta represents his 'two sides'/two bloodlines, sozin (spark, fire related) and roku (light, associated with hope)

i dont have many ideas for some of the other major characters, but ill reblog again once i have those ideas (im writing this before bed)

So if Natacha says 13, it could be possible 13 or 14. I want to assume they are done with 12 since they've been back filming for over a month.

yeah, it'll more than likely be 13/14, and i am VERYYY excited to see what that entails. i actually love gabriel so much as a character. and we know carlos is gonna be part of ep 8, ep 11, and ep 13 so it's really looking good for us out here........ i'm loving the s3 division so far 😭
