King of Hearts!Diluc R. headcanons and ideas
wc ⸺ 1.4k
cw; just a heartbroken diluc. </3. not exactly a diluc x reader as in direct insert but rather doing a personality, appearance just to properly decide on his overall character. not exactly ooc though obviously its a different au so, you get it. also lots of bittersweetness ૮ ꒰ྀི╥ ᴗ ╥꒱ྀིა ultimately he is the sweetest hopeless romantic ever ♡
also if this was an xreader fic then it would be soulmates trope w/ a tinge of forbidden love. so there.
At first glance.
Diluc is a king with a broken heart.
He rules over a kingdom that grows more delicate and fragile as his heart weakens the more years he spends in his immortal life, lonely with exhaustive volumes of blood dirtying his hands.
The kingdom suffers a famine due to the power loss. He lies to himself, tries to trick himself into thinking he has it all under control.
He doesn't.
Perhaps in this case, he- the king - is the damsel in distress, waiting for the one he holds dear to hold his heart in her hands and kiss it until it heals.
Comes to life, eagerly. Thump thump thump...
He waits.
Personality , Traits, etc
Diluc's eyes are canonically [ ? ] sharp, I think. It's like a hooded gaze. Alert, ready...present. always making sure that no danger is in sight. As for koh Diluc? I'd like to believe his eyes are more weary, droopier. His eyebrows, however, are always etched in a furrow. But his eyes? His eyes are just sad. Canon Diluc's dominant emotion is anger (phlegmatic-choleric) and koh Diluc is more sad (melancholic-phlegmatic). It's really the long years of his immortality, fighting alone despite his army, men and all. (But he is also secretly very kind. Any tough demeanor remains a demeanor)
You know what? Now that we're talking about the temperaments. Why not just get all into it.
I believe koh diluc's pdb is
Intj (T) 6w5 ,, tri type 615 [?] ,, melancholic phlegmatic ,, Ni > Fi > Te > Se ,, sp/sx ,, neuroticism (?) please give ideas.
Koh Diluc is so, so much more exhausted. He falls asleep on his throne with his arms crossed sometimes and furrowed brows relax into a softer expression. His Guards don't dare make a sound or try to wake him up. They know how he works himself to the bone.
He's actually a little more quieter, the only time he'd usually speak is when he needs to give out another order to his men, soldiers or servants. Other than that, he's quite quiet and keeps to himself a lot /isolating
King of hearts Diluc loves desserts. He adores them. Tarts, cookies, coffee and cake - oh, he loves cake (especially red velvet/chocolate…a little self-indulgent there haha) – caramel, little toffees, pastries, chocolate.... Gods, you name it. It’s not much of a secret since at every feast and dinner table there’s always an overly generous number of deserts and sweet treats.
Despite his cold almost burnt out demeanour hes actually very soft. He love gardening a lot and tends to his flowers. He loves reading romance novels, he loves woodwork and crafting. And blade/weapon crafting too! Usually, he keeps himself occupied to distract his mind from a lot of things. Also he's immortal. so....yeah
Aesthetics / Appearance
His color palette is wine red, velvety crimson and all reds royal. Gold as well, but it's more of a light-silvery gold. He doesn't appreciate things too bright. He really likes dark colors. But he'd also appreciate the simplicity of saturated colors. (He’s a goth/victorian king.)
Having fought for more than half of his immortal life, he had earned many scars. Printed on his skin, either a proud mark of his achievements, a proof of the brunt of his responsibilities or the shame that comes with being a king that his citizens fear.
He has claw gauntlets. They're silver and the claws are long, intricately and finely designed. Despite his battles against any corruption or evil that may seep into wonderland, the gauntlets almost remain unscathed. It was a show of both beauty and strength it held.
Also what if diluc had an army outfit. like im not sure what is called but omg
Diluc doesn't like his crown. It's heavy, flashy and it irks him more than he likes to admit. It was a crown crafted for royalty, gifted by the hands of fate. It was a sign of his responsibilities, the burdens he had to carry as a king with a broken heart. It's a striking gold crown. Adorned with the rarest gems of his world, but prominently rubies and garnets.
His cape is long, it's either a dark, commanding or an intense black. Hanging over his shoulders attractively, it trails behind him as he walks with such poised posture, and he never stutters in steps. Luxurious, soft fur drapes around his neck, coating the hood of his cape perfectly.
Diluc loves rings. He loves them, he loves them, he loves them. He has many of them, all beautifully designed for his liking. The intimacy of the beautiful piece of jewelry makes his heart thump. He's a romantic.
Secret Desires, Hidden Pain
He yearns to be a kinder, softer king to his citizens. But the fear of his vulnerability slipping, his heart crumbling, he wears a mask of stoicism. He already had a fragile, broken heart. If any enemies caught sight of his weakness, wonderland would be done for. Needless to say, the mask felt heavy and unnatural.
Because he's lonely there are times where he sits in the grand chair in the huge library, right across another, slightly shorter chair (fit for a queen). It remains empty and has remained empty for as long as he remembers. He sits in a deafening silence, letting his thoughts and the overwhelming gnawing of his emotions consume him. Before him lay a chess board, on the table. White faces against him while black faces the opposite side. A few pieces were scattered beside the wooden, intricate board. He moves a piece, slowly and deliberately as if time had melted away into a misty fog his present couldn't make sense of. His feels as though his immortal life is killing him. He moves another piece- his rook- playing the two player game by himself. One day, he's sure all the turmoil would mount and he'd throw the board, send it flying across the room so that it hits the wall. Slowly, he moves yet another piece. The king's shoulders slump.
Koh Diluc feels like he misses someone. Feels like there is an ever lingering feeling his heart. Feels like some memories of him in his mind is blurred and surreal, something he can't make sense out of scientifically. He feels it. He feels a distant love. It's almost a dream, an illusion. But part of him vaguely knew it was a little secret of his soul shared with him - well, maybe. Or his mind playing cruel tricks on him, mocking him for his loneliness.
Another rather...personal Diluc headcanon! His heart (if healed and well, and hypothetically the famine is gone) can heal injuries of his (fated) beloved with a simple touch. Just a hug, just a kiss, just a brush of his fingers against her delicate skin...
Because Diluc and his dearest lover's heart beats as one.
Architecture of the His Majesty’s Castle + Other sights
His palace is a show of extravagance. How big it is. At first glance it may seem as though it would take two whole weeks to explore it fully. From the chandeliers that hung proudly on the ceiling to the velvet carpet on the floor. Every room, despite big or small, was created with purpose. The most beautiful paintings were pedestalized on the walls. They were adorned with golden frames, or silver ones or perhaps even a void-like noir.
Diluc harbours a library, abundant with books. Books with lacy covers and intricate designs. Each page would surely cost a fortune. The information it contained was almost prestigious, for the library held knowledge that can't be found easily outside its confines. Tall, grand shelves and and shacks filled to the brim with books. Despite the grandeur of it all, it had a comforting feel to it. Oh to be snugged up in a plump couch by the window of the castle, leisurely reading a book during the dark hours of the night...
He has a bountiful, grand and extensively handsome rose garden. The whole piece of land was designed elaborately, with the finest of care. He takes long walks in them whenever he gets the chance to, to simply take a breath and clear his thoughts even for a moment. And appreciate the beauty of the scenic area. Despite his strength and ferocity, he tends to all of them with nothing but gentleness. To say he loves roses is an understatement.
Identity, Status, Trivia, other...
It is no secret that this man is ridiculously, obnoxiously and impossibly rich. Diluc is typically rich, yes. But king of hearts Diluc? He's on a whole other level. He owns everything. Everything.
The king is a warrior. He has fought many battles in the past, taken part in wars against other worlds which threaten to rip apart the fabric of reality of Wonderland and claim it for themselves. Wonderland is whimsical, strange- truly a place fit for the curious who are either brave to delve into the world or too foolish.
This is a more personal-ish headcanon, but I'd like to think that his citizens are similar to the ones in Simulanka. While the world may [ ? ] have been not created by Alice or other mages, I just like to switch it up. A little.
I'm thinking...hamsters, bunnies, frogs, cats, dogs, horses and? May be other animals I have to research more.
okay but also wonderland diluc owns a black steed <3 he pampers it a lot lol and its the toughest horse in the land. both kinda have the same personality
Mermaids, colorful fish, knights (they have no body, their soul holds their armour together somehow), those nut-cracker like figures in simulanka? Maybe. This needs a little more work but hopefully you get the idea.
Want my wonderland to be more comforting.
also he genuinely has nerd-like interests in black (barred) owls and hooded owls. He admires them, and has many paintings of the creature in his castle.

answering all my asks in a big bunch
@help-system
it's kind of cool to think about actually & something i didn't consider (re: the implications for future generations). the reason he has to stay in a town flock isn't just because he's formed attachments there, but because he is vision-impaired and his feathers are fucked from lack of structural pigment and would struggle to live without the support system (for lack of a better term) of the town around him. his survival depends on living in a society. that also means he'll survive to pass on this trait when otherwise he would not. it's recessive so yeah could definitely be passed on!
@focshi
Oh habitat & life habits change the look of the nests completely. for the ama plains eagle harpies I was imagining a kind of gourd-shaped woven bower.. sortaaa like this as the eastern edge of the plains (where they live) has emergent columnar basalt and it's on these big stone stacks where they make their nests. use rope and picks to secure the bowers to the columns and the king's eyrie (the tallest one naturally) is built around a log tied upright with guy-ropes driven into the stone. they are all flexible enough that they blow around a lot in the wind without suffering much damage (see pic below)
in between them are net-like rope platforms and ladders as well as more 'spires' which are the trees propped upright on the columns. solid stone is the only safe 'ground' material to build nests on.
@gardenergulfie many of the monsters were bound by additional magical rules on top of the "you are twisted into a monstrous form" main thing. i hadn't thought of many tbh but i believe sphinxes were more strictly bound by their riddle names rather than just doing it playfully by choice, i know there was more but it escapes me. i'll have to think of some!
wyrms are cursed with immortality in a very classical sense so it would be impossible for Revelation not to be around in Cuinn's time. but ah... i wouldn't say it's in a good state
wildfire unfortunately is no longer with us. in mind & spirit anyway.
For eagle harpies, baby-rearing is not communal. The parents swap brooding/hunting roles (one broods/warms the young, the other hunts, they barely get time to sleep). Once baby is old enough to fly it hops out and joins the other fledglings in their eyrie. Parents rarely have anything to do with them after that but they will occasionally stop by to deliver discipline if they feel their offspring isn't behaving properly.
Partnerships are monogamous (but if the king wants your girl then that's his girl for the night) and last as long as any relationships might; could be many years, could barely last a season. there's a stigma against breaking up while tending a nest so some harpies with relationship problems tough it out for the sake of the kids (this never works)
The king does not care about his offspring as people, only as tokens of his virility and strength. Kings often boast of how many offspring they have (and the All-King can have hundreds) but do they know all (or even any of) their kids' names? of course not
Regular cobs do most of the fathering because most flocks don't have a king and they have to reproduce somehow. There's no visible difference between the offspring of a king vs the offspring of a cob. eggs is eggs
Eagle harpy pens can lay up to 4 eggs in one nesting season. Sibling aggression is common in the early days and if unsupervised they can kill one another but that's seen as a sign of lazy and inattentive parenting UNLESS the baby being picked on was kinda runty and then it's their own fault for being a whimp and they should toughen up. Parents can lay unfertilised eggs but rarely do, it's similar to a false pregnancy. Unfertilised eggs are eaten. Harpies of different species base cannot interbreed, but bear in mind that harpy species diversity is overall much lower than birds.
Eagle harpies are VERY protective of their eggs. It's not unheard of for other harpies of the same eyrie to steal their neighbours' eggs for various reasons (you can gain favour if you have one of the king's offspring in your nest....). many predators also might want to take some as well (sphinxes are... very ferocious predators of harpies, but also you gotta watch out for that little human who might have ambitions of being a falconer). parents will guard their eggs viciously.
I don't think it's unreasonable to imagine such a scam tbh... yeah sure take this egg it'll tooootally hatch into a big strong harpy. human falconers probably candle their eggs frequently to monitor them so i think they would catch on very quickly though hehe

So, remember in previous posts when I chatted about Emm-lich and my potential wariness about eventual corruption turning him into someone/something different?
Well, Neve brings it up, and he addresses it at 16:11. ‘Inevitable corruption.’ Though his inflection could indicate that he’s summarizing her doubt, and the ‘inevitable’ is more so interjected opinion than fact. Regardless.
She says ‘some’ avoid this, but expresses doubt. How many lifetimes of power does lichdom bring? Can he really stay himself for all eternity? He tells her that his devotion is absolute, but still. We don’t know a ton about liches in this world. How long have some of them been around? Do we have and 500,000-year-old liches that are perfectly normal at the lich luncheons? We know all candidates face a soul-sifting, which should weed out the bad eggs, BUT this discussion still puts the point out there that the effects could be gradual. He’s fine now, of course.
Neve: And if you ever decide to become an evil, undead overlord, just wait until after I’m dead.
I don’t know if we’ll get another Dragon Age game. And if we do, will they take previous game choices into some account like previous games, or will we focus more on a new cast and crew?
If a character lives in one game, they could die in the next. If one character is immortal in one game, they could become corrupted in the next. Characters that were loyal to you can change their mind and betray you because of one choice you made (or a choice you skipped on accident.) We’ve been led along before. We know this series isn’t afraid to give characters some horrible fates. (Did we all see that recent tweet about Fenris’ fate in a canceled book? If you didn’t, don’t worry about it.)
I just think of the other immortal characters we see. Corypheus. Fen’Harel. Also characters like Bull, who need a pivotal choice to lock them in, or they’re betraying you and become a boss battle in DLC. Or Alistair, who you can rescue or sacrifice. Or Anders, who you can choose to kill or let live after what he does to the chantry (I romanced him and let him live, but ough.)
I don’t know. Emmrich’s choice makes me ponder future consequences more than others. His feels like one that could ripple out and have huge effects if we ever get another game. Hmmm.

It shouldn't have been Aaron
(To the people that call other people misogynistic/sexist because those other people call out/analyze Aphmau's MCD actions, just leave. This probably isn't for you.)
I want to spread my agenda around and agree with the few people who have said it too. It shouldn't have been Aaron. He had potential, probably. Aphmau doing the deed in the woods with him and then coming back after just to flirt with Laurence was trashy, yes. The entire plotline where Aphmau decides to go and be with Aaron behind Laurence's back after everything is really bad, yes. The part where Aphmau doesn't break it off with Laurence even though that's what she should have done if she wanted to be with Aaron instead of lead him on is more than strange, yes. Of course Aphmau is going to do things that aren't perfect, yes. She might have an explanation as to why she found comfort in Aaron, but not an excuse to the way she did.
But I still find potential in the plot line where she forgets both main love interests, but not with Aaron. Think of someone that has done everything for Aphmau such as Laurence. Someone who's sacrificed so much for her. Think of someone who's shown to give great care to children which Aphmau seemingly finds attractive, like Garroth spending time with Levin. Think of the one person that left their home and sacrificed too much for Aphmau, who gained Aphmau's undying love. The one who Aphmau even said "I love you" too. The one who isn't really looked at enough. Of course it's easy to find a man who looks like they are attracted to Aphmau, simply because she's Aphmau, but this person isn't a man.
It should have been Zoey. Zoey has been a part of Aphmau's life from day one. She has been the other mother, a parent alongside Aphmau. She has been there for people when Aphmau could not. She was Levin and Malachi's mother while Aphmau was experiencing her bane of being Irene. Zoey was supporting Aphmau in so many different ways, and Zoey deserves to be loved by Aphmau because of it. Aphmau would turn hostile if anything happened to Zoey.
Zoey is very similar to Aaron in regards to where they came from. Zoey can never go back to her home, in a sense where she lost her life there as Aaron lost his in his village. Zoey has sacrificed her immortality much like Aaron has sacrificed his life for the gateway to open up to save people in need. They have both been willing to be a part of Aphmau's life in ways of which to care for her and her family and not just that but be a part of it. To have Zoey to have turned out to love Aphmau even through death isn't falling short from Aphmau and Aaron's original plot. Sure, they might not have the shocking "Oh I'm pregnant with their child." Reveal, I still feel like Zoey could've easily replaced Aaron in a more meaningful way that would've grasped more of a hold on viewers attentions because Zoey had something stronger with Aphmau than Aaron ever did.
Aaron and Aphmau may have related to each other about being lords, but Zoey and Aphmau could love each other for being caring about others, especially each other. There could be so many ways to put their relationship. So many dynamics. They had more time together. This instead of the strange man that develops nothing with anyone else other than Aphmau and dies after a few good episodes of him just standing around shirtless...
Just think about it.

It's word vomit time because I can't help myself when it comes to this franchise and particularly when it comes to Solas. Even some old blogs that I really enjoyed the analysis from I had to unfollow because it seems that all that's being taken from the game is "Solas did everything bad in history ever but actually it was also Mythal" and going wildly between completely absolving Solas of all responsibility because "Mythal made him" or "Solas is actually the root of everything wrong in the world". That they're just two dimensional cartoon villains.
Which???? That's not what Veilguard was showing us!!
Much longer rambling under the cut but the tl;dr is Veilguard showed us the build up and exposed just how high the stakes are and just how deep Solas's regrets are as he tries to wade through the mess he was born into. We got just crumbs in Inquisition/Trespasser and Veilguard just handed us the whole loaf. Looking at this as them saying he's just an uber villain is y'all eating the crust and being pissed about how crusty it is. Dig down to the fluffy center!!! He says time and time again that he's not a god, he's just a man that made mistakes. He's a man burdened by war and when all you have are horrible choices he tried to pick the least bad of them. It just added layers and reaffirmed that in war, there are no good choices. There's survival. You can't apply black and white morals to war; it's messy as fuck and there's no good choices. Veilguard exposed the motivations of a broken man drowning in guilt and showed us how he got there. It pulled back the layers like an onion and exposed the heart in glaring light; it added so much nuance and so many layers to Solas and his motivations and actions.
The cut hides me just rambling and breaking this down further, be aware it's a wall.
First off; the first elves were spirits. We've learned time and time again that spirits don't think the same as humans. Especially when speaking to Emmrich about Manfred and his rambling included teaching Manfred morals. Human morals. You can't really apply human morals to ancient immortal creatures that decided to fashion bodies for themselves cause they thought it looked fun and was new and novel. They probably didn't think ahead to the future where the creatures they struck down might be upset. They don't care; it's a rock to them. Why should they care? They're spirits mucking about in this new world and having a ball. They didn't stop to think about the consequences of it.
Which brings me to the second thing we got reaffirmed; THERE WAS WAR. Even now we live in war times. War is fucking scary. War changes people. We have so much media from survivors trying to express how terrifying war is and share that with people that haven't been through it. (LOTR I'm looking very pointedly at you and waving you around.) The first war was the Titans striking back at the Elvhen for what they had done. (Very justified.) This is when Mythal pleads with Solas to give up his very much loved form and Fade to help her. As they were originally spirits and are effectively immortal, they would have probably a.) felt emotions far more deeply and richly (if more narrowly/with less range) than modern mortals and b.) their morals are probably very different considering they're new to physical bodies and their own growing complexity instead of remaining as more simple spirits and c.) it's clear he feels at least some sort of trust and devotion to Mythal in a fashion we can't really grasp. (The writers confirm that a romanced Lavellan is the first time he's fallen in love so we know that's not what he has for Mythal. But devotion and service? Those are still powerful.) Anyway, that war is wrapped up decisively in one fell stroke thanks to Mythal again making use of Solas's wisdom to craft the dagger that would sunder the Titans. (Even though she, herself, apparently doesn't even do the final blow she again has Solas do it with the weapon he crafted. In the art book, it shows him trapping their dreams in a small black cube and he himself bringing that prison cube back. This is probably why he becomes known as her lapdog/attack dog.) War over, their people are safe. Oooooo elves are just so evil. Except. What were the alternatives? Continue hunting and killing the Titans until they're all truly dead? Would the dwarves have survived this or would they have died with their creators? How would this affect the physical world if the "pillars" are struck down wholesale? The elves can't just fuck off back to the Fade anymore, they have physical bodies crafted from this world now. They're no longer spirits. Do they all just roll over and die? It's in your nature to survive no matter what and this fundamental truth means there would be no peace between the elves and titans, even if the elves stopped their colonizing bullshit. Instead, they were sundered from the fade and left in comas alive. The dwarves were sundered from the titans and each other, but they also lived on. It was a terrible choice when all there were were terrible choices. There were no good choices. The elves sacrificed the titans for their own peace and their war with their world ended.
The second war was the newly named Evanuris against the Forgotten Ones for not helping the Elvhen in the war with the Titans. This is when the elves would have been fearful and already fallen in behind the strongest of them in want of protection. The fight of "those that protected us" vs "those that abandoned us". It just set the stage for more intensely divided elves, more intensely dependent elves. The Evanuris were powerful enough to protect them and end the war with the Titans, they would be powerful enough to protect them and end the war with the Forgotten Ones. (In Bellara's quest, we learn that at least one of them crafted an army of demons to fight for him.) We also learn through Solas's memories that the Evanuris aren't above propaganda and lies; they slaughtered their own people and claimed the Dread Wolf did all of it. This was a war of vengeance, plain and simple, prettied up as good gods vs evil gods. Even the later legends paints it as the good Creator gods vs the evil Forgotten Ones.
After that, the war focus shifts to Fen'harel and his "rebellion". The game shows us that after their war with the Forgotten Ones, Elgar'nan decides they deserve to be gods. Why not? They're already incredibly powerful and rule as kings/queens. Why not be gods? Their people already serve them in body, lets just amp that up to in spirit and in mind. They're marked in blood writing to show who owns them. Just take their minds and have their total obedience, love, and devotion. It's what they deserve after all being so powerful and cool! (Sarcasm in case you miss it.)
Solas pushed back at every opportunity. He started with letters and moved on to freeing their slaves and moving against them period. He was making such progress against them they got desperate and delved into the Titan's prison, using it as power. "They were blind to the horrors." They didn't realize how horrible this new power was because they were already corrupted. He begged Mythal to stop them and they instead murdered her with her own dagger/the weapon Solas crafted for her. To save the living world, he had to imprison them and the Blight away. The Veil locking away all of the Fade was a mistake on his part; considering the power of the magic he was casting, kinda understandable.
We can see, through his own memories, how he changes through this time. Where he begins to make more and more "acceptable sacrifices". Where he cuts problems off entirely instead of taking the time and risk to try and save people. The greater good is what drives him and he can't risk getting caught up in the small details. Like individual lives compared to all the lives they're working to save. Like the trolley problem but more extreme; does he let this person die, or does he let them carry their infection out to kill untold people? Does he ask these spirits to die doing what they love making the distraction or does he have their very limited bodied forces serve as the diversion and die instead?
The memories we play through in the Crossroads and hear through the murals aren't painting him and/or Mythal as the worst villains ever. They're not simplifying their motives or actions. I mean, they're not even justifying their actions either. They fucked up, they did wrong, but they fucking survived and tried to do so with the least casualties possible. The writers are handing us the story, colored only by Solas's feelings/memories. No longer are they colored by the personal biases and limited perceptions of the unreliable narrators like the rest of the game lore and history that has been given to us. These were practically straight from the source! And instead of it being given to us through the distorted lens of other characters, y'all get to distort it all yourself. :)
I had a good conversation with @hyperions-light in the comment section of this post where they also pointed out that the meetings show us just as clearly how this is happening in real time.
The game showed us, IN REAL TIME, how being presented pretty straightforward information is filtered by each person based on their own life's perceptions and biases and their own motivations.
I'm sorry y'all walked away from all that with the most basic surface level understanding colored in black and white.
The whole fucking thing was heartbreaking. What Solas has been through, the situations he was in both of his making and out of his control, were terrible. He did his best but it still wasn't good. Veilguard didn't cheapen what he did or what he went through; it added layers and honestly made it more tragic. He was born into war and desperately fought his whole life like he was the only one standing between his people and total annihilation. You can't live thousands of years like that and not fuck some shit up. I'm also not above that and I don't think any person would be. I'm in my 30s and have fucked plenty of stuff up; gimme a few thousand years and multiple wars and I probably also would have committed war crimes trying to save my people.
Every time I see a new post complaining that Veilguard reduced Solas and Mythal to cartoon villains that did everything wrong, I want to start biting.
#veilguard spoilers#batty is rambling#this is long as fuck#but i'm to the point of biting people for bad takes

Haunted City
Danny could admit that pretending to be a "regular ghost" was pretty fun. He could hide in one place and scare people who were waiting for an open door and a creepy laugh.
Honestly, Danny could do a lot more than that, the ghosts people believed in were nothing like the ones he knew. He wondered if there were simply different types of ghosts, or supernatural creatures; it was quite likely, considering that the ghosts of the Realms weren't even of the same dimension so it wasn't a fair comparison.
Anyway, the halfa had spent a couple of days "haunting" Gotham. The place was too leggy and they needed a little excitement in their lives. Of course, this led to some rumors about a spirit suffering or something similar, he didn't really care.
The "heroes" of Gotham didn't seem to share his opinion, going through all the places that had been "attacked" (they were just jokes) and looking for some explanation before calling Justice League Dark, Danny had fun scaring them a little in the process.
But he wasn't too interested in being exorcised, banished or whatever they did with rebel ghosts, so he settled on a mansion that was too big for its few inhabitants. Scaring billionaires was almost therapeutic, although the butler didn't seem too impressed by his (minimal) efforts.

Whoa, hold on, my theory is theorying (idc if it’s not a word, I love this, and I’m coping right now).
Remember in the trailer that immortality is mentioned? I’m convinced Sylus is immortal. He’s met MC in a different life, she died, he did not die because he CAN’T die, hence why she does not remember their ACTUAL first meeting but Sylus does but chooses to be vague.
He does not show it, but it pains him a lot to talk to MC and thinking about the possibility of losing her again. That is why he risked his life and got badly injured in Searing Touch.
He also remembers MC in her past life coming to him with the intent to kill him at first, only for the two to fall for each other, with him falling hard, hence why he willingly gave MC a gun and made her shoot him. It was a reminder of his past with her. And because he most definitely feels like maybe if she tries to him and give him that same adrenaline he felt when she (from what I saw in the trailers) was trying to sneak kill him and even strangle him. Then again, I think the strangling part is just MC getting her freaky on like usual, lol.
His eyes in the second gif when MC encounters Sylus for the “first time” (because it’s from her perspective) say a lot. You can tell the actual feelings of a person just by paying attention to their eyes. I studied psychology and I learned the saying, “The Eyes Don’t Lie.” Sylus’s eyes are not lying when he says that he and MC met before. His eyes do not lie when he sees MC.
Despite the lack of light in his eyes, I can tell that he’s experiencing a mix of different feelings. He’s feeling melancholic, because here is the love of his life in front of him, but she does not remember a single thing, but at the same time, he feels somewhat happy he sees her again. He’s also feeling guilt because in a way, he feels responsible for what happened to MC in her past life, so if she wants to kill him, he’ll happily let her do so. And the hand gesture, as pointed out by OP, is also the same gesture he does physically expressing his love.
Sylus is also the most touchy out of the four love interests currently in the game because he is touch starved and has not experienced love in a very long time. That’s why in so many of his 5 star cards, he’s very touchy feely with MC. He has moments where he feels like if he lets go for even a split second, he’d lose her again.
As for how he went from dragon to human, he probably has the ability to shapeshift.
THE HAND GESTURE 😭❤️
#love and deepspace#love and deepspace sylus#ramble#fan theory#and this fan does not even play the game she’s just lurking#like the lore is interesting and I like all of the characters especially Sylus#but gacha games ain’t for me I don’t have that patience#if that bothers you as an actual love and deepspace player you can just ignore me lol#but I’m hoping you guys pull this card before it ends (assuming that it’s a limited card)

actually I love Tentoo and he is the Doctor and it was the only ending for Rose that worked and it is a huge gift to be able to have the man she loves grow old with her, they were always heading for that, y'all be quiet. I 100% understand the angst but it's okay, they're okay, good ending-
#did you want her to...not end up with the doctor?#she ended up with the doctor. she ended up with the doctor and they get to AGE together#they get to have a real honest relationship the way they both always genuinely wanted#it's hard that the full time lord version has to carry on without her but that is the way that character's story ALWAYS goes#the doctor does not get to keep ANYONE. it would be a different show if he did#meanwhile there is a version of that same face of his - the one that was MADE for love? particularly born out of love for ROSE? the one 1/2#2/2 that always wanted a FAMILY? and stability? and a normal life? the tenth doctor longed for that specifically because of rose#now he gets to have it AND be part-human so he doesn't have to watch her get old. he gets old WITH HER#and they're canonically growing their own Tardis so you don't even have to be sad that they're not adventuring in time and space as usual#because they ARE. it's the kindest ending for either character. and if the full time lord hadn't left without either of them-#-he would have had to lose them eventually. lose Rose because she's human? hello? painful? but instead he was selfless and left her-#-with a proper happy ending. which she CHOSE to have so you can't be like “he tricked her!” she chose to kiss one of them and it was Tentoo#they are the same man. Rose won in this scenario.#and I GET IT I am with Billie Piper I think it will always feel a little off that she was left with Tentoo and not the full time lord#I understand. it still makes me a little sad. but I know it's a good ending writing-wise. really the ONLY ending.#yes I know about the popular idea of Immortal!Rose or Bad Wolf Rose or whatever and that's cute and all BUT - it's not a GOOD thing#it's not PREFERABLE to be immortal. Rose doesn't want to live forever. she wants to be with the man she LOVES forever.#she doesn't want to not die or adventure for all time. she wants to be there to hold his hand. and when Tentoo is born she gets THAT!#Immortal!Rose is tragic. the Doctor would not wish the burden of immortality on the woman he loves HELLO#anyway#I ship timepetals. that includes Tentoo/Rose. because he is the doctor#so there#I have more thoughts on Tentoo specifically but I digress#maybe if provoked in an Ask or something idk#doctorrose#timepetals#opinion piece#tenrose#tentoo#handy

Sometimes a take about a character is so bad and so widely accepted by the fandom at large... it drives you crazy sometimes...
#this is about ketheric thorm's entire plot being boiled down to “homophobic father” which is literally not the case#i don't even think homophobia happens - if it does it's so rare - in BG3 everyone seems pretty open about being gay if they are#ketheric thorm didn't hate aylin for gaying up his daughter - he hated the demigod child of a goddess who failed him sweeping up his baby -#a dangerous divine immortal with a whole different perspective to living#yes ketheric thorm did wrong and he knows it!#but it's not because he's a homophobe#it's just sad especially as a parent myself because his plot is so interesting and it's like honestly I'd probably done much the same as hi#i know it's probably mostly a meme in regards to keth being a homophobic dad and not meant to be serious but there are people -#who will take it seriously and think that's the plot because no one can think deeper than a puddle on this site sometimes#sorry he's my favorite villain in the game#personal#sorry to rant!!!!

so i've been listening to elysian fields way too much lately and thinking how fucked up that song is for the mechs to perform. like put death to the mechanisms out of your head (bc that basically didn't happen yet with udad) and listen.
they're immortal. they can't die. the song is all about the sweet release of death, and arguably a gentle one at that, cradled in the fields on a world were nature ceases, next to the grave of your deceased beloved. it's a beautiful song, and arguably, ulysses got their happy ending.
the mechanisms don't get that, though. most didn't even get the option of keeping mortality. they're stuck on the mortal plane, in flesh and metal, with no escape or release within reach.
their finale performance of this album is the bittersweet comfort of mortality and endings, something they're well aware they will never be granted.
#it actually just really messes me up thinking about it#anytime i get immortal characters i will immediately go for the angst of immortality that is bound in flesh somehow#cause dude that would SUCK actually#so many pros to immortally but man you mean i can NEVER have the big gothic nap??? like never???????#also i only just know realized that oedipus's father in the riddle of the spinx song and his bio father he killed aren't two different ppl#idk why i thought they were two different people for so long man#the mechanisms#ulysses dies at dawn#the mechanisms udad#udad#udad ulysses

honestly, maybe it's a hot take or whatever, but I think that tearing down the veil and *potentially* bringing back the immortality to the elves would not have helped them a lot
#like ok i'm not 100% sure that tearing down the veil would even make them immortal again#bc the problem is that the elves of today are so far distanced from the ones is solas's time i don't know how that would even work#or maybe i'm stupid and missing context clues but whatever#but like what service would that *actually* do to the elves?#it won't bring their erased history back#it won't suddenly break all the chains of the ensalved elves#or give better quality of life to those in the alienages#bc take fucking tevinter#yeah if suddenly all enslaved elves became mages it sure would help them#but their enslavers are ALSO mages#who had way more training and years of practice#and then the ones in the south#if they suddenly all became mages#what would stop the templars of jus rounding everyone up and committing a genocide?#what would stop the ruler of orlais of burning the alienages again#like waht gets to me is that#the current situation of elves in thedas is a political problem#that needs to be solved through that#through rebellion through changing the status quo#to pushing for political powers to protect their elven citizes#not through magical means#bc that time is gone#and the dalish and the city elves have SUCH different cultures#than the ones of the first elves#that like...what would they gain?#solas could have spent his time actively encouraging all elves in thedas to rebel#to break their chains and rise up against their masters#but instead he's choosing to risk literally everyone's lives bc of HIS regrets#like he is only thinking of the past and of himself and of the people of his time#the way he treats the dalish is a good example of that

The horror of immortal whumpee with superhealing. The horror of not leaving scars. The horror of it's not visible, it's not lasting, so it didn't happen.
You can hurt them and hurt them and hurt them and hurt them and hurt them again.
And everyone just sees clear skin, sees youthfulness. No evidence of suffering remains.
It doesn't look like anything happened to them, so how could they still suffer from it?
Why should others give them empathy, give them care, when there's nothing to care about. Why should they themselves?
Just look at them. Nothing happened.
#Whump#whump promts#Immortal whumpee#I'm watching through all of the x men movies from start to finish#And while I've seen them all I've never watched them so closely together#And it rly highlights how wolverine is just going THROUGH it#And it made me think about how often the movies use looking different as an important aspect of how mutants are surpressed#And how often they use magneto's tattoo as a visual portrayal of his trauma#And I love both of those things#But that in juxtaposition w what wolverine's body is put through#And the focus is on how his immortality and how he often feels untethered in live bc of that but like#He feels that pain. He feels it every single time. Does anyone care that he knows how all of the things that happen to him feel?#Does he?#Anywayyyyyyyys#Also yes I had to throw in my fave line from frankenstein by mechanisms in there bc that line made me so insane#So if you read this post and think wow the line about no evidence of suffering remaining is real good#Go listen to frankenstein by the mechanisms I beg you

a power of peace and healing//your bones run strong
I spent a very long time trying to work out a Stone design and I'm still not settled! I'm sure like my other humanizations of Fallen London entities, I'll come up with a few <3
#blood cw#gore cw#fallen london#fallen london spoilers#whoooo wants to hear my design thoughtsssssss okay so#I colour selected from her art. she's mostly brown but there's a pale peach colour I've chosen to adopt#I think pale orange/pink works well for stone! pastel is like a half colour innit. she's a half judgement. a softer light#she has 'mountain limbs' referenced there's no reason to give her only two#esp since one of her parents is a crab. they're kinda hooved/claws/roots to reflect both her and baz#the outfit and part of the pastels is also that Stone is.... a princess kind of. i wanted to invoke that!#no one would call her this but the idea of 'maiden hidden where she can't be seen secret child of the king' is like. Her#maidens locked away often have pointy hats too. like mountains. solved it. all the neath mysteries. i won#she has cracked and the wound obviously because. folks. stop mining her! stop seeking immortality!! CHILL!!!#she's PROBABLY HAS cursed people but she's overall all ALRIGHT and in a TOUGH SITUATION okay. her dad fucking yeeted her into the dirt#oh she has tears of flint on her face. chose orange eyes bc Remembered Sunlight and blue for the Sky. half-lidded because half-sun.#as the monarch of monsters and princess of Shame I wanted her to look notably Different while not being the biggest deal of the design#you will probably notice the wound before the many odd legs or singular arm. she's way more human than my baz designs too#bc like. ONE WAY you can interpret Stone is to place her in Victorian London. The king has a bastard he is ashamed of at birth and hides he#anyway. other stone ideas are much more garden themed. cat themed. put her in a cat sweater

Technically an OC fic that's not Resistance-based-
Involves:
Yoichi singing the American anthem to make a baby sleep. It's the only song he ever heard on the radio, and it actually works
Kudo throwing a baby Factor over the edge to kick them out of the void because Bruce wouldn't do it
Bruce felt himself wither and die a bit more at what was expected of him.
Kudo rolled his eyes. "If you're not going to do it-"
"Second, don't you dare-"
"Kudo," Yoichi tried.
"I will," he finished, heaving her up by the back of her onesie like she were a trash bag. Raising her up to eye level, he did a brief three-finger salute.
Her head was too heavy, and neck too weak, for her to look anywhere but at his feet, biting her gums onto her little knuckles. She had no idea what this man was about to do to her.
"Hasta la Vista, kiddo. Enjoy your last seconds of life."
"KUDO!!!"
En speedrunning the marriage process because his friend wanted to (both ace, it's a QP relationship)
"Sorahiko-senpai, give me the marriage certificate," En nearly hissed over their burgers.
Sorahiko chewed slowly. "Why?"
"I'm about to set the world record for fastest divorce—!!!"
Quirk bullcrap where the story focuses on what happens if a Quirk Singularity can't adjust, and how Factors are their own personality.
AKA, when a Quirk Singularity is in a normal person, and not like OFA or AFO.
Gran Torino is bad at relationship advice
"In my experience, which is none—"
Aizawa has problem children (definitely plural) acting out on day 1
Aizawa slammed the door open.
"Hi, Shouta!" she waved, a raging blonde stuck to the classroom wall and screaming up a storm. The first day had barely started, too. "Fancy seeing you here-!"
Aizawa slammed the door shut.
Setting up a Monopoly game for the vestiges to play
"I want the doggy."
"I want the doggy!"
Kudo didn't even blink. "Shut up, Fifth, Yoichi gets the dog."
###
She looked at Midoriya, who suddenly went quiet. His expression was a bit cowed, staring blankly at the tiny player pieces.
"What?"
"Ah..." His head jolted, called to attention. His head immediately fell down a bit as he admitted, a bit awkwardly, "They're, fighting over the doggy..."
###
"Yoichi grew up with nothing. Are you really going to deprive this orphan of even a playing piece?"
"Are you seriously playing the pity card right now?!"
"I'll play any card to let Yoichi have what little he never got when he was alive,” Kudo sniffed, arms crossed. “I may have been a murderer, but wow. I never took you for a heartless monster, Fifth."
"Guys," Shinomori spoke up quietly, completely ignored and otherwise unheard underneath their spreading bickering, "it's just a board game..."
#not to worry banjo caught the baby with his quirk and kudo was banned from coming near said baby from that point on#as for why theres a baby in the void. its to do with the quirk bullcrap and Factor personality stuff#she basically got misplaced and was the just-awakened Factor in a baby and Kudo didnt like that she was there when she didnt belong#he knew she shouldve been in her original owner and not somehow here#they also had no idea how the heck she got there or how to get rid of her safely so this was kudos solution.#aizawa thought the principal was joking him when he saw this kid in his class list. because HE KNOWS THIS KID.#bnha#mha#boku no hero academia#my hero academia#oc#fic#en tayutai#ofa#one for all#theres something a bit more special to ofa here#kudo#bruce#yoichi shigaraki#shouta aizawa#the fic spans from when en was alive to the paramount war so its not like. a single time period#and its not an oc thats immortal or timetravelling either. its just following a family bloodline with different ocs#the baby factor showed up during ua#spoilers#my hero academia spoilers#boku no hero academia spoilers#i think the vestiges as an existence are already a spoiler but also. i mentioned war and stuff#banjo daigoro
