“The very word ‘submission’ contains the paradox of wanting and not wanting,” William S. Burroughs wrote in the introduction of Jimmy DeSana’s 1980 book Submission.
For the photogragraphic series featured in the publication, made between 1977 and 1978, DeSana built on 101 Nudes (1972) and his work for File Megazine by creating theatrical and often comic photographs that push the limits of respectability and explore domestic confinement, consumer affluence, and social conformity. He was also mocking the recent trend of S-M scenarios in fashion photography and advertisements.
He titled many of the images after the objects depicted in them—Toilet, Coffee Table, Television, Shoes, Shower—rather than sex acts or the names of the individuals shown, who are always anonymous and often wearing masks. This strategy not only protected the identity of his models, many of whom were friends, but also contrasted with his better-known portrait work during this period, which he did to make money. Many of the photographs comically equate practices of everyday life and consumerism (washing dishes, taking a shower, driving a car) with forms of bondage and discipline.
In exploring S-M through an aesthetic and performative lens, DeSana joined a long history of twentieth-century avant-gardes that engaged with these practices in order to compel debate on freedom of expression and power.

15yo is watching the Nolan Batman trilogy. I haven't been paying a ton of attention, but my impression is that all of the dialog is delivered in a hoarse whisper and 90% of the cast is composed of interchangeable chiseled brunet dudes.

Stay Romantic
It’s so important to stay romantic, in my opinion. Thinking outside the box and finding something you both enjoy keeps the relationship alive. Forget the club, going out to eat, or just walking around the mall. Find some fun physical activities that you BOTH enjoy. There is no point in taking someone to rock climb when they are scared of heights. Please don’t take her hiking and she is scared of spiders. After you’ve got done figuring out something you both like, make every moment special. My honey stopped in the middle of the trail to carve our names. In every movie yes, did I care, hell no! It was so cute so thoughtful and unexpected. Don’t over think it, JUST DO IT!

It seems that Sam Claflin has a new projet with Amazon: "Lazarus", a mystery-thriller.
It will be a limited TV series. Along with Sam, Its set to appear Bill Nighy - with whom he played already in the phenomenal "Their Finest"- playing his dad this time, and Alexandra Roach, whose work i'm not familiar with, though that will be corrected ASAP (this weekend), she will play Sam's sister.
Source comes from Variety (by Joe Otterson), so Its trustworthy info to me, they always get It right, i trust them.
Also its an original story written by Harlan Coben for the series, so no book to read this time (insert sad face here). I like Harlan Coben and Sam Claflin so I'm excited to know more about It.

I love Matilda because it's a story about a child who sees injustice around her and gets mad about it and questions why things aren't fair, and instead of the ending being that she learns how the world works and that life isn't fair, she catapults one of the adults who abused her out of a building with her mind

I keep seeing people use this image as a reaction to people's original posts:
Tumblr media
Which I think is really incorrect, because with an original post they haven't come up to ur window, u've come up to their window.
So I made this, as a more accurate reaction for original posts:

I just think everyone should take a moment to consider the question "what is your visual shorthand for cruelty?" and then follow it up with a critical "and who taught you that?"
specific examples include but are not limited to
why is an evil timeline character design disabled? (why do the heroes go through equally punishing battles and never lose an arm, a leg, an eye?)
why are the futuristic scifi terrorists uniformly darker skinned? (why are the heroes so much lighter?)
why is the greedy boss fat? (why are the heroes skinny?)
why is the criminal mastermind heavily scarred? (why is the brooding, traumatized hero unscathed?)
why is the predatory creep a bearded person in a dress and makeup? (why are none of the heroes trans women?)
who taught you that this is how things are?
how long do you plan on repeating it?
