I finally could pick up the adorable coasters i commissioned from @creations-by-chaosfay and they can not be described with words 💖💖💖💖💖

I gave the prompt of "hobbit meets slavic grandma" which sums up the vibes of my kitchen and most of my flat in a catchphrase and otherwise gave her complete artistic freedom over everything else and Renee absolutely delivered. The picture shows the front and back of the set and I adore these little guys so much i can only make incomprehensible noises right now🤩

The boy looked up into his face, his eyes wide, his face blessed with a massive grin.

He bounced as he spoke.

"Oh gods, you're me from the future right? This is so cool ! what are we like? Are we a good king? What have we done?

Are we brave and strong? You look like you went to war. Do we go to war? Did we earn glory-"

Odysseus looked down into the boy's chubby face.

He smiled slightly at his energy, his exitement and his determination to learn.

All things he would lose one day and

the child had no idea, no idea at all, of what he would one day face. Odysseus wished he could keep him from ever knowing.

He looked away and caught sight of his reflection in a bronze shield on the wall. He noticed the bags beneath his eyes, the scars all over his face.

Where had all of that optimism gone? Why would this child have to lose it, why would it be overtaken by bloodlust and ruthlessness ?

He knew why.

He kneeled down and grabbed the boy's shoulders in a tight hug.

"I'm sorry" he whispered, tears dripping onto the boy's shoulder.

The Athena of the past looked at him, shocked and then sad at his tired appearance. He looked better since he came back but he still didn't sleep well. She placed a hand on both of their heads, a silent promise.

I hope you liked it. How this came to be was I was looking at your blog and i saw your age chart for odysseus. I kid you not when i saw your warrior of the mind design, he gave me cuteness aggression. I was like "aww he's so cute, I wanna kiss his nose and squeeze his cheeks."

And then i saw your charybdis odysseus design and he gave me such opposite,angry,tired energy, . I then thought" heh wouldn't it be funny if we stuck them in a room together." Then, I more seriously thought, " wait, what would happen if we stuck them in a room together, how would odysseus feel about his younger self's innocence after everything he went through and how he changed. And so, here we are.

Also the context is that Athena let younger ody time travel after he got curious about his future.

(Can i just go on a lil side tangent to say how impressed I am by how you take the most tough-looking, looks like they eat nails for breakfast, grungy type designs and somehow manage to make them look sweet and soft and vulnerable. Like how bro !?)

writing advice for characters with a missing eye: dear God does losing an eyes function fuck up your neck. Ever since mine crapped out I've been slowly and unconsciously shifting towards holding my head at an angle to put the good eye closer to the center. and human necks. are not meant to accommodate that sorta thing.

As gen-AI becomes more normalized (Chappell Roan encouraging it, grifters on the rise, young artists using it), I wanna express how I will never turn to it because it fundamentally bores me to my core. There is no reason for me to want to use gen-AI because I will never want to give up my autonomy in creating art. I never want to become reliant on an inhuman object for expression, least of all if that object is created and controlled by tech companies. I draw not because I want a drawing but because I love the process of drawing. So even in a future where everyone’s accepted it, I’m never gonna sway on this.
