Any other Dix Pour Cent fans delighting in the fact that come August and series 2 of Heartstopper, there will be far more people admiring Thibault de Montalembert and his excellent facial expressions? :D
(Minor Heartstopper and Dix Pour Cent spoilers below:)
(I mean, if I remember rightly from the comics Stéphane is... good-hearted but not the best father ever. And we already know Thibault de Montalembert is rather excellent at playing flawed parents who want to do better, so. ;-))

Silk and Silverite, the complete series (so far), by Lady Stéphanie Toutlemonde-Baliverne of Val Royeaux
in-fiction Dragon Age fiction, because why not
Silk and Silverite
Featuring no subtitle, the book was meant to be a one-off, but upon the wildly positive reception (five scarves fluttered in shock out of five!), the work was expanded into a series.
This first volume, fittingly to the title, is a fairly basic story about a whirlwind romance between a wealthy surface dwarf merchant-woman with a price on her life, and a beautiful bard (known only as "Lady Cinquefoil") that mostly follows the conventions of Orlesian bardic romances, and shocks mainly with just how explicit it is for its genre.
It's rumored to have been inspired by the author's own scandalous affair, however this is mostly due to the staggering amount of very specific details pictured, as there is next to nothing known about the secretive authoress.
Vol.02.: Lustrous Cotton
Following one of the secondary protagonists of the original Silk and Silverite, Lustrous Cotton is about a meek, scholarly mage in 9:41, now a rebel against his will, trying to make his way across the Fereldan countryside with a hired bodyguard: a tortured and complex woman, a deserter of the Templar order, who is trying to eke out a living by taking people across the wartorn Hinterlands for coin. The two, of course, fall into mad love roughly 80 pages in, and then proceed to make (both figuratively and literally explosive) love in tents and inns all over the country, before fleeing both the war and their Templar pursuers towards the Tevinter Imperium.
While controversial in its choice of protagonists, the book is commended often on its creative yet heavily eroticized use of magic, and its accuracy in depicting the difficulties of stripping off armor while in the ~throes of passion~.
Vol.03.: Vyrantium Samite
As a hard pivot from the previous two books' southern settings, the third installment of the series continues in Tevinter, and takes the reader to a fictional version of the underbelly of the upper echelons of Imperial society, featuring the entanglement of a handsome magister and an equally handsome Orlesian ex-chevalier in the heart of Minrathous. It's easily the most inaccurate to its setting of all the books, and it sparked quite a bit of controversy both with its generous blasphemies, and by coming out in the same year as Lord Gallanter Pismire's "The Magister’s Temptation", and Lord Gustave Thibault Beaumarchais’ "Champions of the Lust - To Break an Imperial Stallion", which both feature some eerily similar characters.
This, of course, fizzled out quickly, as it soon became obvious that these books were not all copies of each other, but were merely inspired by the exact same people (with Pismire and Beumarchais drawing on the Inquisitor's figure far less subtly), and Vyrantium Samite at least never used expressions like "quivering flesh-cavern", or "pulsing man-meat". (Editions after the first one feature a mysterious endorsement on the back cover signed only as "R.": "To draw from life with such boldness is a thing both wonderful, and mildly terrifying.")
Vol.04: Fade-touched Velvet
Any semblance of and overarching plot or an interconnection that the previous installments would have introduced is chucked straight out the window, as this installment is written from the perspective of Juliette, a cheeky apprentice in the newly formed College of Enchanters, and recounts her taboo romance with an enchanting desire demon seeking to possess her. (Which explains why exactly the titular "velvet" is "fade-touched".)
The demon's shapeshifting abilities are, of course, explored in extreme depth, touching on yet more Andrastian themes of blasphemy and desire that leave the average reader feeling both flustered and vaguely guilty, and the book ends with a series-atypical cliffhanger that had readers writing letter after disgruntled letter to the Randy Dowager in such numbers, that Her Ladyship had to put out a notice that she will simply stop reviewing the series if people don't stop bugging her about it. (Five scarves fluttered in shock out of five, of course.)
Vol.05.: Rough Hide
The author seems to dial the oddities back in with this installment, as it features, once more, a fairly common Orlesian plot structure and a conventional depiction of a fictional Grey Warden, a gruff and determined dwarf woman with a heart of gold, and her partner, a plucky, yet sweet recruit- a thief both petty and pretty, who chose to join the Order as an alternative to either a hanging, or a Chantry cloister.
This one, though still explicit, is cited as by far the most loving, most romantic book in the series, as the "burn" seems slowest in this one, and the characters' palpable bond tugs at the heartstrings. The two often meditate on mortality, love, and loss- mostly after bouts in the bedroll that definitely fit the title.
The dedication of this book raises eyebrows, as it is merely "Thinking Always of You".
Vol.06: TBA
The newest installment was set to be released 9:53 Dragon, but, well... it wasn't, for obvious reasons.
Rumor has it, the title was to be Paragon's Luster, and it intended to delve quite deep into Orzammar's caste politics and royalty (again, both figuratively and literally), but it'll understandably take a few years to actually be released, if it ever will be.
#squirrel plays datv#squirrel plays dragon age#fun fact!!! i based the name off how -afaik- “toutlemonde” is a common placeholder last name in French meaning “everyone”#and “baliverne” is a word for “nonsense” or “balderdash”#while a meaning of “stéphanie” is “crown” or “wealth”#so translated all together; the pen name is (very loosely) “Orlesian” for “nonsense for wealthy ladies”#and i'm toying with the thought of it being another pseudonym for my dwarf LoF Rook; Tanner#but it's also *really funny* to me to imagine that it'd be just. Leliana.#who is both romanced and the Divine in my world; so it'd tickle me extra hard to imagine her in competition with varric#without his knowledge of course#and her having been a bard and my warden being a f!aeducan would lend plenty of inspiration to more than one of these plotlines#..... i wanna say that verbena is more of a swords and shields fan#but marcus is quite fond of silk and silverite; with book 2 being his favorite#for..... reasons#definitely not because he may or may not have a mild magic kink; nuh-uh#idek if i should tag this with any of my guys' names; it's kinda purposefully all up in the air#and this is kinda just reference to myself lol#tho there is a part of me that wants to write all of these as fics lol

Bestie bestie bestie!
Hello :) Where to even begin after so much time.. I guess first I'll note that my last anon to you is starred below just so we can follow the thread of last convo somewhat (and honestly just wanted to ensure you knew I at one point wrote in over you hiatuses)..
Ok on to more new stuff: Biggest news is Im off to the wifeys motherland (ironic a bit as I believe shes currently playing in my fatherland). I'll report back on food a day drink 😋 ca va?
Yay Liberty, they did it! 🗽Plenty of kudos to the Lynx as well. Was a great series all around. Even if my nerves barely withstood those overtimes & dramatic endings.
Coaching movement in the W continues to make my head spin. OMG the Thibaults are gone, didnt see that coming tbh! I remain seated for all the hirings/happenings to come. And cant believe we're almost to the lottery selection w still so much upheaval in place 🤯
Hope all is well w you despite lifes busyness. Take care
** Hi hi hi bestie! Yes that anon was me ha. I realized after sending that I left of my emoji signature, but was pretty sure youd connect things, given some hyper specific topics ha. Hope life is treating you alright apart from just being busy!
Im personally just relieved that the Libs managed to even things up last night, while still trying to process the 2nd half & OT of game 1 lol. That one was all just absolutely bonkers. Crazy entertaining, even if it hurt my NY supporting heart at the time.
When it comes to the coaching moves, def in agreement that Indy doesnt deserve good things. What do you make of who the Valks named HC? Seems a good hire to me at a quick glance, but Im also leery of anyone who might be involved w the Aces lawsuit ordeal (tbf Im not super well informed on that, but dont believe Ive ever seen her referenced w that stuff). Yeah objectively I dont feel that a (random) late winning run/playoff push, external circumstances w the standings aside, was worth dropping your odds of getting #1/Paige from like 30 to 10 %. Still struggle to understand why they ended up trying to fight the path that established itself early on. Granted kind of unexpected and extreme circumstances, but still, lemons to lemonade if you will. Im not feeling eager for the draw next month..
Honestly it will be interesting now to see/follow any Liz activity while she hits the offseason as college ball starts up soon. Curious to see if any crumbs or reactions come up at all. W those two seeming to be at an avoidance phase, another college wbb couple needs to step up and provide us w some (non toxic) drama to follow over the season ha! Not you tho Pazzi, you stay lovely/wholesome/stable/healthy
One additional GH note - I obvi live for snark, so wanted to share my fav lines from Ch 10
“Won’t somebody please think about the complications” Jana in full menace mode and so funny. "I mean other than the woman you married as well that is" The fact that Azzi will not ever say her name I just love. I also have this idea that Stephie, when older and knows pretty much everything re her parents history, will continue the she who shall not be named thing in support of her mama. (And Im not entirely discounting the possibility of a bit of real time drama w Olivia that wont help w this whole Azzi grudge).
Wishing you a good start to the week!! -☕️ **
Hi hi lovely I missed you <3
Ah babes that must have gotten lost in my sea of asks because I've been so bad about answering them. It's funny how much has change since whenever you sent that thought because the W has become a revolving door of coaching changes.
I really like the Valks HC choice. She's been very effective with the LVAces and I expect that to continue. Same with the recent news we go today of Tyler Marsh with the Sky. I think LVAces coaching staff in general is so strong and them branching off is good for the league and both the Valks and the Sky with these coaches and a little bit of time for player development should eventually be really good. Ultimately the lawsuit is a front office issue and I don't think these two had much to do with it and so until I see issues in their new respective teams, I don't think we can hold it against them.
LIBERTYYYYYYY. So happy for them and of course props to the Lynx. And honestly thank you to both teams for giving us what I think, despite that one foul, is the greatest W finals we've ever had.
THE THIBAULTS ARE GONE. You were one of the first people I thought of when I saw that news. Honestly I have no idea what to think. I really didn't see it coming and as much as I've done a lot of nepo baby this nepo baby that, I don't necessarily know if this is the right choice but I'll wait to see who they appoint as the head coach to really figure out my thoughts.
Lottery in 2 weeks?? What the actual hell? Like y'all we're likely gonna know where Paige is going before we even see Azzi on the court and that's insane to me.
OOOOH I have some CWBB drama if anyone wants it. Did y'all peep Last-Tear's Poa's shady insta caption she deleted? Her and Sam'yah Smith were a thing and streets are saying maybe she cheated?
Pazzi are being wholesome as always. "Silly girl" - what if I jump off a cliff :)

(Virgil is @thal-ent's character)
"Virg'?"
"Yeah ?"
"What are vampires like ?"
The other one held silent for a moment. Vampires. A subject as simple as it is complicated. Well, he was the Ultimate Vampire Hunter, so, it had to be easy for him to answer somehow, but Bastien knew he was digging deep into reflexs and teaching ingrained so deep it would take long to make the truth out of the doctrine.
"Well... they are many legends. Your country has some we don't, and they probably all hold a part of truth somehow, I just know well what I've fought."
A knowing look from both of them to the prostethic arm Virgil had. A sacrifice for survival, said the hunter at the time. Bastien, him, just couldn't believe something was strong enough to take a part from the most powerful person he knew.
"Those things I fought were very different depending if they were starving or not. Either ghoulish, starved and monstrous, but easy to defeat, or humanlike and sadistic. They were the most difficult to defeat."
"At the very least they burned under the sun."
"Yeah. Could you imagine if it just glittered away like in that trashy romance novel Emerens lent me once ?"
A laugh, feeble, echoed from both their throats. Emerens lending the Twilight series to Virgil with the knowing look of "you're gonna hate it so good" still was a funny memory for both of them. Too bad, thought Bastien, that it was invoked to ease expression of trauma.
No matter how Virgil lost his arm, nothing could dull the pain Bastien felt seeing him wounded.
But the tone was clearly set. It was no time to reinvoke past trauma. So Bastien kept laughing.
"Oh, I'll never forget his disgusted face. Sometimes I think the hatred he harbors for that book is oddly personal."
"Something we can agree on. But since we are talking about other vampire perceptions..."
Virgil got serious.
"I studied many legends here at Hope's Peak and so many of them contradicts. There's the classic Dracula, of course, but vampires seem not to be limited to this. Ghoulish creatures, but also immortals surrounded by a veil of mystery, unaffected by the sun. There's one thing that seems to be common to a lot of the legends, though. Apart from the drinking blood, that is."
"What is it ?"
Virgil's hands shivered. Both the flesh one and the metallic one.
"Potential for subjugation."
His eyes, turquoise, met those, dark green, of Bastien. Letting through so many words both of them spent so much time saying.
There was nothing to be added.
Later, meeting with his cousin, Bastien remembered how easy those turquoise eyes found his way into his cold, fueled by spite and desperation heart. He looked at how Thibault was talking about Emerens' last shenanigans with that lovestruck smile only harbored by the one who loves, but is not in love.
He looked farther away, where the two boyfriends were talking Latin. He looked at how the hands of the blond one moved, how the hair of the one who was his fell around his face, surrounding a little smile.
He wondered if vampires really existed somehow, and were sitting some feet away from them, talking like everything was fine, like they didn't caught the heart of two unsuspecting humans beating in their hands.
Strangely, he feared one of them way more than the other.
#hel is talking#la peste moderne#not my ocs#hel ocs#lpm#hel writing#perros de guerra#yeah Bastien is very gay for his boyfriend but who can blame him. at the end of the day he trusts Virgil is Virgil#and the Virgil he knows is soft and a bit cocky and somehow hiding a chaotic part of himself and would never hurt him#the same can't be said for Emerens tho.

Sol Fertilis History: The Great Economic Collapse and Falling Birth Rate
The Formation of the Progressive Natalist Party <- The Great Economic Collapse and Falling Birth Rate -> The Rise of Youth Crime
The Great Economic Collapse and Falling Birth Rate
The Global Drought has brought untold damage to the worldwide economy. Many people lost their jobs, leaving them without income, homes, and food in the ever-growing food crisis. Homelessness was at an all-time high, especially for families. Despite the mass unemployment among middle and lower-class people, the upper class has either had their wealth the same or even gotten higher. At the same time, many scammers and con artists use their influence to steal money from people. This includes the concept of the prosperity gospel, where it is believed that worshippers must give their money to priests and pastors to be “closer to God”. Several governments used corruption to save themselves, such as taking money from public services to fund their extravagant lifestyles. One of the more extreme measures was a prohibition on alcohol, primarily beer, or putting a very high sin tax on it in certain stores. This caused massive outrage due to how unnecessary it is and how local breweries and small businesses are damaged by it. Yet the governments themselves have their own private wine cellars and breweries. The PNP had created and funded several non-profit and charity organizations to help people. These are Vestal Shelters, which is a homeless shelter for families, The Cornucopia, which is a food bank, and Caduceus Clinics, a series of health clinics. These actions have given them support among the middle classes and the working poor. However, some accused them of doing charity work to get more votes. Berto Mariani countered this by stating that the next election is in four years and the organizations are the only places that could help the people while governments do nothing. The Worldwide population has started to shrink as mass infertility started to take over. The infertility crisis had a variety of reasons, most commonly poor nutrition due to the Global Drought, the rise of diseases affecting the reproductive system, low sperm count, people waiting to have children due to the Great Economic Collapse, and women choosing to work than having family in their 20s. The PNP saw this as a warning sign for humanity, believing they have a duty to resolve it. Vincenzo said that worshipping the Caelum Duo can resolve it. Concetta Angelone believes that better and management nutrition would resolve infertility. Thibault Vaganay suggested that medication and a different lifestyle can reduce it. Srečko Horvat, a young Czech doctor, has taken all of these into consideration for his idea of “Fertility Restoration”. Meanwhile, some of the PNP members are worried about the startling increase in youth crime.

Week 1 research
--------------------------------What is Maya-------------------------------
Maya is a 3D modelling and animation software made by Autodesk, which has been used by multiple film and game studios to create some, admittedly, really good 3D models.
examples of what Maya can do can be found here:
youtube
on an unrelated note, i really like how the mecha sonic animation adapts the 2D sprites into 3D models.
---------examples of Maya being used in the games industry----------
Maya has been used in multiple different game series. such as:
The Last of Us. "Maya was used to create character models, facial animations, and environmental assets in The Last of Us".
Assassins creed. Maya has been used in many of the assassins creed games to create its "richly detailed historical environments and fluid character animations".
quotes from here
As well as that, Maya was used in other games. For example:
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Maya was used to "model and texture the different characters and the game’s environments".
Uncharted 4: a thief’s end. Naughty Dog used Maya to "record a character’s movements and then transplant them into another". They've been doing this since Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
Mirror’s Edge Catalyst. DICE used Maya to "model the characters" and was used to polish up the animation that was captured in Motion Builder.
quotes taken from here
--------------------------------What are Tags------------------------------
Tags are labels created by the user in order to identify one thing from another.
for example: if you have 2 doors that needs 2 different key cards in order to be opened, tags can help differentiate key card 1 and key card 2
-------------------------Weird weapons in games-------------------------
there are plenty of weird weapons that have been made.
examples include:
The mutated milk from Team Fortress 2 - a secondary weapon given to the scout that (according to the TF2 wiki) " functions identically to the Mad Milk... a bread monster appears squirming and biting the target's head on the side they were hit from for 10 seconds."
the dubstep gun from Saints Row - a gun that (according to the Saints Row wiki) "fires long-range pulses of energy to the beat of an electronic song". the song the gun plays depends on what skin you give it.
the cluck shot from Gears of War - a gun that LOOKS somewhat normal. however, instead of shooting bullets, it shoots explosive chickens.
-------------------------------Audio Examples-----------------------------
audio is used in shooter games for multiple purposes, such as:
using gunshots & surround sound to locate where an enemy is
a light hum to find chests and pickups and such
a unique sound effect to let players know there's a character specific skill being used by someone
audio is used by platformers to:
help players find hidden collectables and power ups
sfx plays when players have been damaged
sfx plays when players collect collectables
audio is used in puzzle games to:
make the player anxious and thus more likely to mess up
sfx plays when player does a good thing (i.e get a tetris)
--------------------------------Voxel Artists--------------------------------
Thibault Simar (AKA Voxelmade) is (according to his about me page) "I’m a french art director, addicted to voxel". his professional work isn't related to voxel art, however it is a hobby of his. his website showcases a few of his voxel art pieces and animations.
Antoine Lendrevie (AKA Sir Carma) is the Art Director at Happy Volcano. his ArtStation is a bit outdated, but shows 7 of his Voxel art pieces.
--------------------------------Voxel Games-------------------------------
crossy road is a game about a voxel chicken crossing a voxel road to get to the other voxel side.
minecraft is the second best selling game of all time, and is a game about a voxel guy/girl with the power of a god that goes around building stuff and things.
There's a YouTuber called CodyCantEatThis who remakes 2D games in 3D using Voxels.
he's remade the legend of zelda; super mario bros and sonic.

What I wanted characters to say to each other this year so far...
(Spoilers behind the cut for: "Endeavour" series 9; "Shadow and Bone" series 2; "Good Omens" series 2; "Heartstopper" series 2)
Fred Thursday, to E Morse: I love you, you're my best friend and like a son or brother to me. I don't want to leave you behind, or neglect you. But I'm burned out, and exhausted, and scared, and you seem to be doing a lot better and meanwhile my son is disintegrating and my daughter is getting married and I am *so tired* and so terrified, so you can't be as much my priority right now as I'd like. It's hard for me to confide in anyone or let you help me. But I will try, and I do love you, so so much.
E Morse to Fred Thursday: I love you, you're my best friend and like a father or brother to me. I find it so hard to believe that you care about me, and I'm scared that everyone is leaving me behind yet again, and I'm hurt that you are, and I don't know how to help you. Please confide in me and let me try. I do love you, so so much.
Kaz Brekker, to Inej Ghafa: I love you, but I'm in a bad way and I don't know how I can be with you in a way that works for us both. But I do love you, so so much. Please come back one day.
Inej Ghafa, to Kaz Brekker: [actually she pretty much said it all, bless her] [but another affirmation of love would have gone well I think]
Aziraphale, to Crowley: we aren't going to agree on this, but I'm not leaving you behind because I don't love you. I think I'm doing the right thing. I'm scared and broken and everything is hard right now. But I love you, I ache for you, I know that you are good and kind and worthy and you don't need to be an angel for me to love you, *I will be back*.
Crowley, to Aziraphale: we aren't going to agree on this, but I'm not staying behind because I don't love you. I'm desperately worried about you and I wish I could change your mind. I'm scared and broken and everything is hard right now. I'm worried that you can't love me as I am. But I love you, I ache for you, I will try to trust you, *I will wait*.
Pretty much everyone in Heartstopper: ACTUALLY USED THEIR WORDS even if it took them a while, excellent, well played good gentlebeings. If Stephane Nelson can get his act together by s3 that'd be great (hey, Thibault has form for redeeming himself as a dad ;-) ), but Nick will cope if he doesn't. 9/10 at least for all the characters who aren't shits.
Disclaimer: this is not in any way a criticism of the writers of any of them except I think Endeavour, for I have... complicated feelings about that final episode, and whether doing That was actually really, totally necessary to set up Inspector Morse (I don't think it was, for at least two reasons, so it feels to me like gratuitous pain and the fucking up of a precious character arc tbh). But wrt Shadow and Bone and Good Omens? Fair play, that's brilliant storytelling, some things need to take their time, and romantic cliffhangers are awesome actually (provided they then get resolved at some point!). And Shadow and Bone has multiple awesome relationships, in some of which communication does actually happen. <3
But that doesn't stop me yearning for those characters to say those things, even though I think it's artistically better that the ones in S&B and GO didn't just yet. <3 Heartstopper is a different kind of show, where that would be less appropriate. But in S&B and GO it is actually brilliant. Just... ow. ;-)
Watching Heartstopper after the other three was rather a particular blessing tbh. :)

A (comparatively) short selection of the most prized volumes in Marcus' library:
Philosophiae Naturalis Vol. 7: The Fantastic Fungi Of The Arlathan Forest, by Enchanter Ines Arancia of Amaranthine (it has very pretty pictures. some are even of mushrooms.)
Andraste’s Jewelry Box: A Brief History of the Glorious Nation of Orlais, from Kordilius Drakon I to Etienne II, by Sister Petrine (it will put you to sleep- regardless of whether you're reading it, or getting smacked with it. For its promise of briefness, it's meticulous, and exhaustive.)
Compendium of the Marauding Magus: Studies on Artifacts of the Ancient Elvhen across the Fair'st Lands of Thedas and Their Contemp'rary Applications, by Sister Gaelya of Cumberland (he already had a copy before Bellara gave him one. Her note is borderline incomprehensible, but upon closer inspection, it appears to be a series of page numbers all connected with arrows.)(He now uses it as a bookmark.)
Encyclopedia Maleficarum: Advanc'd Hexes, Curses, and Conjurations Most Foul, author unknown (very hard to get, very expensive, banned in most places. don't let Emmrich see it- he won't be scandalized, he'll just be very jealous.)
Eldritch Devices: From Devastating Bewitchments to Magical Parlor Tricks, To Awe and Dazzle, by First Enchanter Gustave Thibault Beaumarchais of Montsimmard (it's more slight of hand and flourishes than actually impressive magic)
Introduction to Salumancy: The Beginner Battlemage’s Step-by-Step Guide to Mending Minor Injuries and Setting Broken Bones Through Arcane Arts, by Senior Enchanter Wynne of Ferelden (a very important volume to any aspiring healer, OR anyone who's ever had to take a magic first aid class.)
Almanac of the Thaumaturge Errant - A Travelogue (Books 1-4, the complete edition), by Seer Phenydae of Dairsmuid (very old. It still refers to the city of Ventus as Qarinus, but it's an enchanting account of an unlikely adventure that -in retrospect- can be described as positively Tethrasian.)
Discussions with the Deceased: A Dissertation on Safe Passage of Wayward Spirits, by Speaker Viuus Anaxas (somewhat outdated by now, but still a foundational work. The author unfortunately deceased some years ago, and despite the Mortalitasi's best efforts, he seems woefully unwilling to resume his work.)
Silk and Silverite 2: Lustrous Cotton (this one is just dirty.)
Salacious Entrigues, Vol. 3: The Magister’s Temptation, by Lord Gallanter Pismire (this one is VERY dirty. it doesn't often find its way back to his room.)
The Mortal Corpse, by Maecius Agrippa (a cheesy, yet tattered attempt at a pulp horror about a necromancer who masked his machinations by cleverly reanimating his victims, but the events described are eerily accurate to a series of unsolved murders that happened in Carastes some twenty years ago. it's best not to question it. there was a concerning spark in Neve's eye when she saw it, and it likely will not make it back to Nevarra City.)
An untitled, unsigned, unbound manuscript of what appears to be a weird little speculative fiction-cum-whodunit story set in an alternative version of Nevarra City that's shrouded in near-permanent dusk for some reason, and everyone there scowls and snarls their every second word. (It's more corrections and crossed out words than writing, and he'll blush beet red if questioned about it. It will not be finished.)
And the most important one, one that I like to think all my Rooks have:
All This Shit Is Weird: The Inquisitor Trevelyan Story, by Varric Tethras.
This copy bears two signatures on the inside cover: one in sharp, spiky letters and a quick hand ("For however far you'll go. - V."), and one beneath, done later in a shaky, slightly uncertain one that still nevertheless carries the echoes of a well-practiced, sweeping script. ("And for the people who'll go with you. - R.")

Sigurdur Gudmundsson: There Is No Visual Language from Louisiana Channel on Vimeo.
"Every new work requires a new language." Meet Icelandic artist Sigurður Guðmundsson, whose life in art expanse over more than 60 years. In the video, he shares his philosophies on art and love.
"My way into art started with completely failing at everything else." Sigurður Guðmundsson never succeeded in school and worked in forests around Iceland from a young age. One day, through his father, he met the principal of the Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts, who helped him get into the school. Since then, Guðmundsson has been working with art. "I'm the type of artist that has no plan," he explains. "I desire something that is on the poetical side."
Sigurður Guðmundsson's most famous body of work is a series of photographs which he calls 'Situations'. "I have no connection with photography," he says and continues: "I didn't feel it as photography. I felt it more like sculptural or poetry." Thus, he sees the works more like poems than traditional photography.
As an Icelandic artist, poetry and literature is inevitable, according to Sigurður Guðmundsson. "Language is very dominant by us, the Icelandic artists. Our main culture, when it comes to art, was poetry in this country. Everybody was a poet." According to Guðmundsson, the visual arts are still a very new thing in Iceland, so he experiences that he and his peers went into the visual arts with a "literary attitude", as he calls it. "I always denied it when critics were talking about the visual language. And I said: No, there is no visual language," he continues, "Every new work requires a new language."
Sigurður Guðmundsson (b. 1942) is an Icelandic artist who lives and works between Xiamen, Amsterdam and Reykjavik. He studied at the Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts and Academie '63, Haarlem, in the Netherlands. Inspired by the Fluxus movement and painters of the natural world, including Caspar David Friedrich, Guðmundsson conveys longing and a search for a better world in his works, which range from photography and painting to sculpture and text. In his "Situations" series, the artist placed himself in illogical situations to comical yet melancholic results. Sigurður Guðmundsson has had many solo exhibitions, including shows at Galleri Andersson/Sandström, Stockholm, Sweden; Levant Art Gallery, Shanghai, China; Galerie Martine et Thibault de la Châtre, France. He has also participated in multiple group exhibitions, including shows at i8 Gallery, Reykjavik; Moderne Museet, Stockholm, Sweden; The Living Art Museum, Reykjavik, Iceland; Weserburg Museum für modern Kunst, Bremen, Germany; and The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, USA.
Sigurður Guðmundsson was interviewed by Roxanne Bagheshirin Lærkesen at his home in Reykjavik, Iceland, in May 2023.
