i'd like to know... whats ur take on rinne meeting niki's parents for the first time?

ok i forgot about this ask but because people are sort of SCARING ME speculating that bc crazyb are going overseas there's a small chance that they might come across his parents. i dont actually know how much i believe this will happen since at the end of the day the focus is on rinne and this sort of thing deserves to have More exposition, imo, so having it be an interaction that only occupies a chapter at most is doing a disservice to niki

i actually have a fic drafted out for this (which is nowhere near done, loool), which i'll summarize: it's not necessarily a pretty encounter.

i think rinne would blame niki's parents in part for his "curse" — he doesn't think highly of them, even if niki himself doesn't hold a grudge against them. i think rinne feels like he needs to hate them on niki's behalf, bc even if niki doesn't realize it, at least part of his self deprecating habits come from having been left by them at a young age, and the whole scandal that had arose from his father's tv career.

so while he's obviously not violent towards them, if he were to, say, head to niki's apartment and encounter both of them sitting there waiting for his son, he'd be very passive aggressive. they fucked over his best friend and left him alone, no visits, who knows if they even call him anymore, for years? he wouldnt want to exchange pleasantries with someone like that. and as far as niki's parents are concerned rinne's some stranger who just waltzed into their home so i'm not sure they'd be all too fond of him either? this is all operating under the assumption that niki has little contact with them at this point in his life, so they know little about rinne besides him having dragged their son into the idol world, which he was consequently dragged out of by his father, and now he's an idol again. in their eyes, he's probably kind of a bad influence.

if niki shows up during this meeting, say he was late from work or something, he'd just be kind of speechless the whole time. it's not really a tearful reunion. if they stay for dinner, the preparation leading up to it would be awkward, not much talking. if there is it's niki trying to fill the silence, but neither his parents nor rinne want to actively take part in conversation, opting for throwaway comments at each other, and about niki, since they all think they know what's best for him (and niki isn't the brightest, but none of them go over his head). eventually niki gets fed up and slams his hands on the dining room table, effectively shutting them all up, and going to make dinner by himself while the other 3 sit in silence.

i dont know. maybe they'd be able to talk it out eventually? however i think after this initial encounter they'd probably just want to talk to niki, by himself, some other time. rinne wouldnt be pleased and doesnt think niki owes them shit but i think theyre at a point in their relationship (esp after talking it out themselves — even though rinne can be a bit of a jerk, niki would understand that he was angry on his behalf, not just because) where if niki said he wanted to go speak to them alone, he'd be apprehensive but encouraging. if niki wanted him to come with, he'd drop everything to come with if only so niki doesn't feel alone when talking to them. but ultimately, even if niki reconciles with his parents, rinne wouldn't ever be on the best of terms with them. at least i think that's how it'd be.

vex: ohhh you mentally ill little boy. fairly normal until Dust [the leader of a very violent and large anti-ascension movement] corrupted him as his mentor. uh. ve likes to believe it was beneficial and 'enlightened' vir but really it just turned him into an angry person, especially when mass ascension happened and dust got ascended which only cemented his beliefs. fights a fuckton with omens and believes in the holiness of the cycle. very unbecoming of an iterator. sure hope he doesnt do anything terrible!

jet: built at sea, collapsed due to a great flood/tsunami before mass ascension. believed to be dead and very distant from the group, they were a source of a lot of drama. hes actually alive though! he was built with Some waterproof measures in mind so hes functioning to an extent down there. in yuri we trust [with depths]

depths: originally built as spectacle + as a lighthouse to work alongside jet, but jet collapsed before they were completeted. oops. feels very hollow and purposeless, until a messenger from the sea shows up with a pearl . otherwise depths is very distant from the group [mainly distance and poor comms] and also when trying to learn about jets clouds found it insensitive with the wound being 'too fresh' and kind of exploded on them. woops.

what do you imagine barry's childhood was like

(this is partly childhood and then also teenage years + military sorry. i got really excited explaining it because i imagine it in a very elaborate way.)

well i think it was very lonely and isolating for him . his mother is entirely out of the picture - i imagine dead, rather than divorce. if they had a decent relationship or she was still around, he would probably end up mentioning her at some point. but he has no strive for a maternal figure either, suggesting she did not neglect him or remain alive, yet distant from his life. so, probably dead. his father either doesnt talk about her, or talks about her too much.

in a strict military family, he's the youngest of however many sons there are. his brother probably went into the military as well, and was favored by their father. barry's father clearly does not care for him as much, annoyed by his shyness. barry did not like him. he wants to impress him, but continues to fail. strangely, he doesn't have any real jealousy towards his brother. barry might hold a grudge, feel resentful, but he's not a jealous person. he's left feeling considerably unloved and neglected by john sr. though, leaving him to search for fatherly approval elsewhere.

john sr. is cold, strict, and an alcoholic. barry doesnt like to drink much anymore.

at school, he's unpopular and unimportant. he doesn't get particularly good grades, he's painfully awkward, he doesn't contribute anything important. probably few friends, if any. i don't think he has any serious friendships here, nor a girlfriend. he could play baseball in high school though. football would probably be more realistic, but i like baseball because it correlates to john jr., ok?

i actually imagine he'd be treated very poorly at school. hes sweet and shy, but autism wasn't a known diagnosis then, and he's probably already developed a violent streak from fuches' training (ill talk about fuches in a second). he comes across as aggressive, awkward, and stupid. he doesnt feel accepted here. the people here arent like him. they dont get it.

but fuches gets it. fuches is there from when hes 5 years old, becoming a more and more frequent presence in his life as he ages. fuches is...like an uncle to him. (like a father to him, but he doesn't understand that yet.) fuches is understanding of how shy he is, fuches is kind, fuches can get away with what he wants. he's like the cool uncle of the family. he tells stories about him and john sr. in the war, and barry wants to be like him. he slips him beer when john sr. isn't looking. he teaches him to shoot glass bottles, and takes him out hunting. he's a bit cruel sometimes, a bit harsh, pressuring barry, but he has good intentions, right? he makes barry feel loved. barry trusts him. barry goes into the military, full of the propaganda he's been fed and a desire to impress his father(s).

as soon as he can, barry joins the military. for once in his life, he feels accepted by his peers. he's a good shot, trained already by fuches. he's a really good shot. theyre impressed by him. people his age, impressed by him. who act like they love him. who act like theyre friends. barry is accepted for his violence, and if he keeps doing that, theyll love him more. he sends letters to fuches. he's eager to serve, eager to help. eager to be praised. barry learns to mask here, learns to copy the way the other marines act. i dont see enough people discuss how barry clearly masks around other marines, like chris. around this time is when his mental disorder starts showing symptoms - i'm not sure what i think he has, but it involves (often grandiose) delusions and dissociation. as things get more stressful, it gets worse. he's violent, and he can't help it. it's like he loses control of himself. its like hes a monster. he just wants to kill the bad guys. theyre the bad guys, hes the good guy. and bad people have to die. this is how its explained to him, and he doesnt question it. hes trusting of authority. but he ends up killing the good guy, and now hes the bad guy, and he has to go.

the period of time between barry being discharged and then becoming a hitman (around half a year, if i remember correctly) is particularly interesting to me. this period of time, where he is a war criminal, dangerous, scared, deeply suicidal, lost, no purpose, marked, etc etc. they gave him help for a while. they sent him to a hospital. gave him a psychiatrist. it didnt really help. only fuches visited him. after a bit, they let him go from the hospital too, claiming he was fine, he wasnt a danger, he was normal now. he was fine. this is a huge example of just one way the government fails its veterans, how the state of mental health care fails them, how they let a young man go off into the world knowing he could still be dangerous and traumatized purely because they didnt want to care for him anymore.

his father doesnt show up for him. is he dead, or just disappointed? thats up to you. fuches is there, though. fuches is there to help him. to save him. to give him a purpose. barry doesnt need a purpose. he needs love. approval. his violence was once praised, but now, reviled. but fuches tells him it can still be useful. he can still kill the bad guys. itll be profitable and itll help the world and nobody will even know. everyday he is being manipulated. barry is in such a weakened state, so damaged and shocked and scared, that he accepts it. because at least fuches loves him, right? and maybe this is just who he is. maybe hes just a killer. at least he can be a good one, though. at least he can help the world somehow.

maybe if he destroys enough bad in the world, itll make up for who he is. maybe if he just does what hes told, someone will love him. maybe his father will finally see him and be proud.

shilowhere thoughts - not as fully fleshed out bc ive worked with them less, but all my oc partners are complimentary

nowhere and shiloh first meeting is uneventful and boring. nowhere is admittedly memorable because he looks like an evil clown, but he comes across very sullen and distant. not an immediate draw. but he stops by the clinic on occasion for cross, and it's interesting to see how he is with cross (and interesting how different he is from stories cross tells). shiloh finds him pretty curious. nowhere doesnt think about shiloh much at all beyond the weird feeling of "huh. so people could have just been normal and kind to me before. and they werent. they chose not to be. it is not inherent to me. ah."

there's less of a pivotal point in my head and more just. at some point shiloh is like i kinda like this weirdo. im gonna flirt and see what happens. and nowhere has no basis for this, so he mostly doesnt notice consciously. subconsciously, he's hitting weird spots. trying to parse out average sociality (that he hasnt been privee to) and courtship (which he has experienced extremely little of). on some level, he does pick up on shiloh's interest. he is very careful about it because he worries about coming across as aggressive or violent or scary. he basically doesn't flirt back, but he starts spending more time hovering around the clinic (which he hates, so it is noticeable). i think it hits him when shiloh touches him casually and it hits him like a lurch and it's incredibly disorienting. he feels very bad about it

Sexuality Headcanon: Homosexual without a doubt (VERY STRONG MAYBE demiromantic, but regardless men-only) . It still pains me to see people CONTINUE to suggest that he could even POSSIBLY like women even if it were completely unrelated to their gender. Nagito likes men CANONICALLY. He was elbow deep in mikans pussy and he had never even batted an EYE. (in fact, he looked DISPLEASED more than anything.) I sincerely judge other people's character analysis comprehension if they even THINK Nagito might be even the SLIGHTEST bit interested in a woman. (also low that theyre letting a weird not-fitting character ship affect a literal unarguability for Nagito) (im wording this exaggeratively on purpose) Gender Headcanon: Transgender male. People really be widespread headcanonning Hajime as transgender just because of his fat tits but everyone is just glossing over how transgender as fuck Nagito is. He literally can never breath because he binds 24/7 and people are ignoring his struggle. (also because he has asthma) A ship I have with said character: Komahina/Kamukoma - literally canon. I don't think I'm swaying the annoying anti-komahina people (who are annoying. its more based to BE the "good side" of fandom yourself rather than to let annoying people ruin genuinely good things for you.) by being matter of fact and intentionally "im right your wrong" but komahina is literally canon. Could you guess why? Though more seriously besides the sexuality issue I just dont think either of them would get together well at all. Chiaki's way of therapy/advice wouldn't suit Nagito very well, her way of thinking being usually straight-forwards and 'going with the flow' kind of behavior (AKA she doesnt seem like the kind of person who would always take Nagito's tangents seriously bec shes ditzy and she isn't the kind of overly-negating person Nagito would be better off with) -- Mikan however should be OBVIOUS WHY NOT. Mikan's entire personality is "shy and bullied person who is secretly very shitty" (considering she gets a power trip from making her patients dependent on her NON-DESPAIR). She is overly apologetic and insecure and so is Nagito and they would fight over who is worse until they both put themselves down to the point they BOTH just feel like shit (which could be humerous but not healthy). Not to mention everyone who ships them forgets that she literally jabbed one of Nagito's insecurities knowingly? (She mocked him for being alone/having no one when he is afraid of dying alone AND LIKE YEAH you could argue she was despair-mode at the time but like still sooo cute guys) A random headcanon: He is autistic with autism and im right and the fact that people portray him as neurotypical/just "quirky" is ummm? dumb?. General Opinion over said character: He is very misunderstood and misread and its annoying (though not surprising because the dr fandom is notorius for that). But otherwise he is a very VERY shockingly well-written character. His personality is very enjoyable to me and I wish that the dr fandom had the same 3rd eye I have and didn't rely on the fact that he's gay for his personality. (AKA everyone bases his personality off of that ONE sassy nagito sprite) I AM VERY PLEASED HE HAS BECOME ONE OF DR'S MOST ICONIC CHARACTERS and he is one of my most favorite characterz. I can imagine Henry being so incredibly awkward around the other assassins and especially Jacob at first. After all, Jacob was a one-night-stand and all other assassins wanted him dead (he assumes) but he quickly befriends Evie and Greenie because he is as social as a puppy and is just as likable as one. But he keeps a distance from Jacob because he finds the entire situation incredibly uncomfortable and especially after what happened with Robert. He doesn't want to get hurt like that again and even if his heart slowly, slowly is letting go of Robert and willingly opens itself up again, he desperately tries to lock it away and make sure he isn't too close to Jacob. Jacob, who probably is a person to fall head-over-heels with persons he just met and especially if they have even shagged (he literally fell in love with two of his enemies after 1-2 meetings, canonically, one being a gal and one being a lad) is probably quite hurt by Jekyll taking a distance but he still tries. Hence the flirting, hence still trying to get to know Henry.

A few months pass, maybe. Henry gets used to working for the assassins, he spends most of his free time on the train because he can escape both Lodgers and friends alike and just... Relax. Even if he spends most of his time there, and even if he tries to get away from Jacob to not end up more hurt, he just can't. He keeps getting pulled into those handsome eyes and those flirty jokes and he just can't deny that he is feeling something for Jacob, and Jacob notices. Suddenly Greenie and Evie are gone on an emergency mission and Jacob and Henry are alone on the train. Perhaps Jacob would offer Henry some whiskey, perhaps they would just sit around and talk on one of the couches. Perhaps Jacob would slowly inch his way closer and Henry would pretend not to notice. Suddenly Jacob's hand is on his thigh and Henry's breath hitches, his face shots up to meet Jacob's gaze and their noses brush together. They are alone, Jacob takes his chance, and so softly he presses their lips together. Nowhere near as hungrily as their first meeting and nowhere near as possessively as during their shag. It's soft, it's adoring, and Henry can't help but melt into it. He doesn't want to but something in him feels safe with Jacob, much safer than he had ever felt with Robert, much more loved than he had ever felt by Robert, yet he quickly falls back to reality when Jacob's hand moves-- maybe not even up his thigh, maybe he just accidentally nudged it-- and Henry places his hands on Jacob's chest and breaks off. So many thoughts and feelings swirling around in his head, yet all he can feel is how his heart clenches so violently and everything in him is screaming stop, stop, go back, you are ruining it, all while it's also screaming run, run, don't look back, don't let yourself get hurt again.

Henry stands up, Jacob follows as Henry begins to panic so slightly. He is apologizing profusely, he is saying that Jacob please shouldn't take this personally, it's just... He can't handle this right now, he's sorry, Jacob did nothing wrong but Henry just isn't ready for it. Right as Henry is about to leave the train, Jacob stops him. He asks what he did wrong, or what's making Henry panic so. Henry stops, for a moment, takes a deep breath, and tells him that he just... Does not know what Jacob wants from him, and he has been hurt by pretend-relationships enough that he doesn't want to experience that again. Jacob tells him that he actually likes him, he would like to have an actual relationship with him sometime, if that would be something Henry would want and would be comfortable with. Henry pauses, another deep breath, and finally, he just says that... He needs to think about it. Please give him some space, he will give him a letter once he has gotten to think things through, he is sorry for being difficult but it's just... So, so much for him and after what he has been through. It's nothing personal, he assures Jacob, yet both of them just feel so, so hurt as Henry waits for the nearest train station and leaves. It's in the middle of the night, yet he is trudging his way back to the Society alone. Jacob debates following him, just to make sure he gets home safely, but doesn't.

Maybe it takes a few days, maybe some weeks, maybe even months, but soon, when Jacob enters the train after a particularly foul mission, Evie has a letter for him. "Jekyll came by and told me to give it to you", she says. Jacob could not grab it any faster, hastily tells her some weak excuse before excusing himself to his personal train compartment. He sits on his bed, he takes a deep breath, and he opens the wax seal of the letter-- so formal and official, he thinks. He wonders what Jekyll has told him, what news he is about to get. He can't deny that he likes him and that he likes him a lot. More than he liked Pearl. More than he ever liked Maxwell. What he feels for Henry feels good and real and he just feels miserable at the thought that Henry might not feel the same.

He opens the letter; the actual text and paper are just as "official" and formal as the actual wax seal and letter fold.

And then he reads it.

And the first thing Henry does, no surprise, is apologizing, and Jacob feels his blood run cold. But then he continues to read, and Henry is explaining why he was so scared. He has been hurt before, his last boyfriend treated him like a side piece that he just threw away and they had known each other for two years and it has affected Henry a lot. He apologized for being difficult, but he is willing to try out a relationship if Jacob is still up for it, and if he is just willing to take it slow and be patient with Henry.

And Jacob, of course, is willing to be patient. He is willing to wait for Henry because he likes him.

At the end of the letter, Henry asks Jacob to meet him in his office somewhere during the evening; he will keep the window open.

And Jacob does come.

And they get to talk it all out, they get to set some boundaries and actually talk about what they want out of all of this. Obviously ends with Jacob embracing Henry in a way only lovers can, and loads and loads of kisses.

So far, I have imagined the assassin crew (Jacob, Evie, Greenie) needing Henry for something but they see this... This blond gremlin breaking into his office. They immediately think of cornering him and questioning him about why he is breaking into Henry's office, except they enter at exactly the wrong time and manages to catch the transformation as Hyde turns back into Jekyll. They all stare in horror and yet Jacob doesn't hesitate to immediately run forward and cradle Henry; spitting and trying to keep himself from vomiting as all that slime and goop comes out of his mouth and eyes. Henry coughs, he manages to open his eyes, and the first thing he sees is the assassins and Jacob's face. He coughs again, he presses out a panicked smile, and the only thing he says is "oh fuck."

Jacob, without even thinking about it, immediately helps Henry to gather himself and clean himself off of the slime, Evie and Greenie are just standing on the sidelines unsure of what to do. Finally, Henry is rested against a cabinet and his breathing is calmer, and he manages to explain everything. Yeah, he was really depressed a few years ago and he thought there were things that were horribly wrong with him so he wanted to get rid of that. Except he accidentally personified all of that "bad" stuff and now that person is Edward Hyde. Jacob would definitely be... Slightly concerned, but would very much be like "oh so you are slightly insane and also halfly schizophrenic? Ahaha is no big deal I still love u darling xoxo"

aliyah’s very good at regulating, not necessarily their emotions, but which of their emotions they communicate, if that makes sense? they’re famous and always in the public eye, and they’re married to an even bigger public & political figure, so they have to regulate the person they’re allowed to be super heavily. the image that they give off is like, one of unending cheerfulness and caring and kindness, super cutesy, and, like, being the perfect citizen. and they are kind and caring, to the point where it’s frequently detrimental to them how much they care about people, but they’re also really cutthroat to anyone who they don’t care about, and they have a very deeprooted distrust and hatred for governments and they kind of have a tendency to commit crimes frequently and just trust that their or their husband’s status will keep them out of trouble and maintain their image. their favorite ice cream flavor is cookies and cream! nader’s current state is... not where i plan on vae ending up, but atm vaer most noticeable traits are that vae’s quiet, tries not to stand out, and is very much a shitty rich kid (as in the mindset, vae’s early twenties agewise). vae tends to view most relationships and interactions as transactions, looking for what vae can get out of shit for the best price, and at this point is only really sticking with the group of people vae’s with because vaer stuck in a city they don’t understand that’s suddenly a lot more dangerous than it was when vae arrived, and vae doesn’t know who else can keep vaer safe. vae’s whole mindset is one of, like, if i blend into the background enough and don’t draw attention to myself, i can always pretend i’m meant to be where i am and get what i want and no one will ask questions. vaer favorite ice cream is strawberry. etel is, first and foremost, sure of herself. he used to be from a noble family, and even though she’s not in anywhere near as good a situation anymore, he still tends to act like she is, and presents himself as affluent and powerful outside of the few friends who know her actual situation. he’s very charming and charismatic, generally, and tries to at least act like the most well-read person in the room. she’s kind of ignorant of whatever everyone around him needs or wants, and is more than willing to push someone down to get what she wants as long as he can spin it so she doesn’t come away obviously looking like the villain of the situation. his favorite ice cream is triple chocolate. camille does not like people. that’s the main (and only real) impression most people have of him. she’s also from a noble family, though they still have much more tangible ties (even if they prefer to act like those ties don’t exist) to that family than etel does. he prefers the company of animals and nature, and will take off and leave the city to fuck around in the woods as soon and as often as they can. they’re very socially awkward, and have a hard time speaking, and he tries her best to be kind but tends to come as very rude because they have a hard time censoring himself and will either completely clam up or say whatever’s on her mind without really cleaning whatever that thought is up and making it palatable. their favorite ice cream is mint chocolate chip. nix is kind of. like. weird to talk about? they’re three people, and most of their identity is either based around Being Distinct From The Other Two or having a constant identity crisis because they don’t see themselves as a person. Arturo is an actor, and that’s a lot of what he bases his identity around is performing and being on stage. he doesn’t feel like much of a person when he’s not acting, and he tends to be very snappy and irritable towards anyone who he thinks he can’t help him with acting, with the exception of rowdy, who he kind of idolizes because rowdy is violent in a way that arturo doesn’t have the capability to be. lup bases all of her identity on being social, getting close to people and fostering relationships with them, because she doesn’t feel like she’s real unless she’s someone in the eyes of other people, and that determines a lot of how she acts depending on whose eyes she’s viewing herself through and what they would want from her. nix proper doesn’t have something that grounds it and makes it feel like a person in the way the other two do, so they really don’t view themselves as having an identity at all, and lean very hard into the mindset of not being a person, going out of their way to look as alien and uncomfortable to perceive as possible and trying to avoid interacting with other people at all unless forced to. it’s very jumpy and stressed all the time and distrustful. arturo likes that gross looking bright blue blue raspberry ice cream, lup likes pistachio, and nix doesn’t really eat but if it theoretically had to pick one it would be neapolitan.

3. What does your oc’s voice sound like? (Or, if you have one, what’s their voiceclaim?) Can they sing, whistle, or roll their rs? Do they have any speech impediments or notable dialects/accents?

how does one even describe voices... ok here goes

avani: she’s my character for a ttrpg campaign, so her voice sounds basically like mine (which might not help much cause you don’t know how i talk lol), but when i’m talking as her i pitch my voice up a bit and make it a bit more nasally. she’s not much of a singer, nor can she whistle, but she can roll her r’s pretty well. also, since she’s autistic and hard of hearing, her tone of voice often comes off the "wrong” way

farhan: he’s another ttrpg character i play lol, or at least he will be next semester, so his voice is again kind of like mine. but when i talk as him i pitch my voice down and it’s a bit hoarse. ig his voice would also be more “masculine” than mine but whatever. he can sing and whistle but has a pretty small vocal range (since he’s, like, 13 right now and will be 16 when i rp him next semester)

carter: i imagine his voice as low and on the quiet and raspy end, with a tiny bit of a lisp. he’s way too insecure to try to sing or even whistle or anything like that, though if he practiced at it he’d probably get pretty good

calira: she’s mute so n/a i guess. but she talks pretty formally in her dialect of elvish sign language, which is definitely unusual

sam: they have kind of a low voice that’s also raspy, but with quite a bit of pep and variation in their tone. they can even sing pretty well and they like to whistle constantly while working. that creates some kind of whiplash cause sam comes off as a typical edgy teen a lot of the time

jizoriel: high-pitched with lots of voice cracks, peak pretentious preteen/early teen jerkass. he can’t really sing or do anything similar, nor does he want to very much

victoria: so quiet and raspy that you can barely make out that it’s low and has a soothing and pleasant tone to it. she can sing well, or at least she could once upon a time

rowan: just! the happiest and most cheerful voice you can imagine! so much love behind how she talks! her voice fills up her whole head and the whole room!! and she whistles sometimes while she walks

ace: defies any masculine or feminine labels, smooth and cool in theory but they stutter quite a bit

charity: gruff but with a hint of cheer and clarity behind it that comes out when she’s startled. she loves to sing but can’t whistle and can’t roll her r’s either

jamal: i actually have a voiceclaim for him! it’s this (the voice that sings from 1:51 to 1:58)

kimberly: her voice is a bit high and a bit... idk how to say it exactly... i guess shrill would be the word?

fabián: his voice seems higher-pitched than it actually is cause he talks higher when he’s anxious, and he’s always anxious. it’s a bit hard to describe his voice otherwise tbh. i can hear it in my head but i can’t quite put it to paper oops. oh yeah also he has a great singing voice but never uses it sooo

this question opens up a wormhole cause i have playlists for many of these guys but instead i’ll just provide one (1) song for each and vaguely describe their music taste, how does that sound

avani: honestly “mr. capgras encounters a secondhand vanity” by will wood is a “her” song to me. her music taste leans a lot more toward older music though (like some classics from the 70s and 80s and such)

farhan: he’s still very new so i haven’t really found a song for him yet. but i know he absolutely loves peppy and energetic pop music and also sappy gay love songs

carter: (slaps my hand away when i try to type another will wood song) “fantasy island” by the shins always launches me into daydreams about him. which kinda roughly aligns with his music taste, he listens to a lot of those “mainstream indie” artists. he’d also listen to will wood because he’s gay and mentally ill <3

calira: one of my favorite songs on her playlist is “maximillian von spee” by dirt poor robins. but the music she listens to is basically all invigorating church-loving stuff with medieval-era instruments lmao

sam: “sometimes” by nick lutsko is an absolute bop and very much a sam song. sam actually doesn’t go out of their way to listen to music though, but when they do they listen to either the most soothing and relaxing stuff or to the angriest metal emo music. no in between

jizoriel: i’ll go the less emo angle here and say a song that reminds me of him is “upside down” by jack johnson. jizoriel’s music taste is like. old choir music and shit plus incomprehensible magical music that doesn’t even sound like music. if he was from earth he’d like my chemical romance

victoria and rowan: i’m grouping these two together here because a song that reminds me very strongly of both of them/their relationship is “human” by dodie. which actually fits very well into both of their music tastes!

ace: again, going the less edgy angle here, “auntie earth” by walter mitty and his makeshift orchestra. but ace mostly listens to uh, classical flute music and flute covers

charity: absolutely “dance and cry” by mother mother, that’s pretty much her theme song. it’s among her favorite songs in canon too

jamal: “tire swing” by los elk, since his arc is about letting go of childhood and all that jazz. he’s more inclined to listen to fun. and other pop artists and rappers and such. he likes janelle monae

kimberly: “best tears” by the happy fits for sure. in terms of her music taste though, her taste is pretty similar to jamal’s. they bond over being janelle monae fans

fabián: by god does “heal” by so much light fit him. his taste is that he rotates through three (3) specific obscure indie artists lmao, so theoretically i guess that specific song is included in there

avani: how she sees herself: honestly the worst person alive. unless she spends every moment of her time trying to make up for what she’s done, she’s worthless, and she doesn’t deserve to love herself in any capacity how others see her: her brother (farhan) really looks up to her! most of the time. the superhero team she’s on (other people’s ocs) all think she’s generally smart and capable enough, and her boyfriend in particular thinks she’s incredible

farhan: how he sees himself: as of right now? a misunderstood emo middle schooler who’s still kind of cool i guess how others see him: his sister (avani) thinks he’s quite an impressive and charismatic young man

carter:  how he sees himself: 1/10 awkward and annoying how others see him: carter reminds calira too much of her old self, so she love-hates him. sam thinks he’s weak and cowardly but admires his kindness. and jizoriel clings to him as a caring father figure and loves carter’s passion for natural studies

calira: how she sees herself: it goes back and forth between “i’m the greatest chosen one ever im such a strong warrior” and “wow i’m literal trash why did the gods pick me for this” how others see her: carter is a bit intimidated by her but appreciates her attempts to vibe with him, sam thinks she’s an annoying pretentious self-important bitch (but their opinion softens over time), and jizoriel sees right through her facade and feels comfortable around her because of it

sam:  how they see themself: evil and in need of redemption, kind of similar to avani ig but with 10x more confidence in their skills and also much more violent how others see them: carter knows theyre doing their best even if theyre kind of an asshole, calira is a fan of their strength and determination, and jizoriel Hates Their Guts (at first) because they baby him too much

jizoriel: how he sees himself: a fucking fraud of a prince. all he has going for him is his abilities as a mage, but even then those are shaky how others see him: carter knows he’s very insecure and wants to comfort him, calira admires his magical prowess and noble air, and sam thinks he’s a snarky little pretentious douchebag but also he reminds them of their late brother and they want to protect him at all costs

kimberly: how she sees herself: not good! if she can’t grow up fast and do science well then she’s useless how others see her: ace wants to be friends with her but doesn’t know how to do that, charity is annoyed by her rule-bound-ness, jamal thinks she’s cool but should unwind a little, and fabián resents her at first but would still like to play chess with her sometime

FINALLY, i’m back to hob’s universe. i had to stop reading this because university, but now that i’m freaking done with my exams, i can enjoy it as i wanted *^*

San Lang didn’t respond, and after applying the powder he let go of Xie Lian’s hand. Xie Lian couldn’t help but think his attitude and this weird atmosphere between the two of them was really off, but didn’t know how to ask about it without sounding weird. This wasn’t something anyone else would notice either and couldn’t possibly understand.

(he just hates you putting yourself in danger for the sake of other people, he waited too much for you, gege! aaaaah they are beautiful, help me-)

Ever since Xie Lian had gotten stung by the scorpion snake, San Lang had behaved like this. A couple days ago it was all ge ge this, ge ge that, but now he barely called him ge ge anymore. When they first met, San Lang had avoided his touch and seemed weary of contact with Xie Lian, but that seemed to have gone away after spending so much time together. Now, besides sucking poison and applying herbs, San Lang was once again avoiding touching him, and that made Xie Lian feel weird. He’s not used to this distance.

Xie Lian grabbed the merchant by his collar and backed up, but the tongue that flew out was freakishly lengthy and barged right into the merchant’s ear!

Xie Lian felt the body in his hold convulse violently, the merchant’s limbs writhed nonstop, and the man let out a short agonizing scream before falling to the ground. That long tongue dug out a large chunk of something bloody from his ear and and brought it back to the mud face’s mouth.

The massive nine feet man they called ‘general’ seemed to have found the squirming mud face deeply disgusting, and swung his mace towards him, smashing his face into a bloody mess, the teeth of his mace piercing his brains. When he pulled up his mace again, the entire body was pulled out with it, fulfilling his wish of “let me out!”. And the body that was unearth was not a full human body, but a skeleton.

As long as it wasn’t some pool of corpse dissolving water, his body shouldn’t be damaged too horribly.

Still dazed and confounded from falling at such a height, Xie Lian unconsciously held on tight to that person’s shoulders and called, “San Lang?”

The pit was filled with darkness, nothing could be seen, including the person. But Xie Lian still called that name. The other didn’t respond so Xie Lian patted and squeezed the chest and shoulders just to make sure. “San Lang, is that you?”

I am not sure a posses the words to explain how i feel, but even if i knew san lang was gonna catch him (that he was fine), my heart is pounding so hard and i love how strongly xie lian is reacting to him, unconsciously feeling him up to make sure he is fine. i didn’t know it’d be like this, they are gonna be the end of me.)

It took a moment before he heard the boy’s low voice from very close to him, “I’m ok.”

Xie Lian didn’t know why, but this voice was curiously different than before.

in no particular order bc that would kill me:

1. Oikawa Tooru (Haikyuu!!)

i love every single character in this heckin anime, but oikawa rly messes up w all my feelings. im too weak for characters w gap moe, even if its the ‘looks very nice, is actually a bit of a demon’ kind and not the other way around, lmao. the thing abt oikawa is that he twists in and out of himself; he is handsome, charismatic and endearing at first glance, but hes also cunning and easily overcome by feelings of jealousy, inferiority and egoism. even so, hes an observant and hardworking leader who places his strength on the strength of his team as a whole, never thinking himself higher than his teammates. oikawa looks like he got everything easily, looks like hes a genius, but everything he has he worked very hard for. oikawa built himself to be a winner but never got the victory he wanted the most. nothing w oikawa is as it looks, and that why i cant help but love him.

2. Noiz (DRAMAtical Murder)

u knew he was going to be here, its gotta count for something that i, at least, didnt put him on number 1 too lmAO

just like oikawa, i fell victim to noizs gap moe as well. i mean, u give me a delinquent in weird clothes whos rude to everyone, pushy and even violent, and then turns out hes like a little kid at heart who buys foods without knowing their names, who doesnt know when to stop fighting bc he doesnt feel pain and no one ever cared abt his safety and thinks hes a monster bc of his insensitivity and silently suffers bc of it, ofc im gonna lay down my life for him. im gonna die for noiz ya hear me

theres not many scenes in anything that fucks me up more than the scene (that didnt make into the anime, sob) where he fights w aoba as theyre hiding in the oval tower, and then he tells aoba abt his insensitivity to pain and aoba pulls him down to him and tells noiz the world isnt as bad as he thinks and makes noiz slowly open up to him and learn from aoba how is it like to care abt someone else. its beautiful to see him, whos so young but is both hardened by the ugliness of the world hes seen and ignorant to the good things the world still has to offer, finally open himself up and make the first steps towards growth, and meaning to grow beside the one he fell in love with. im soft. my heart was found full of love.

3. Olivier Mira Armstrong (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)

ive been in love w this woman since i first read the manga and when i watched the anime i died, thats the story

just like haikyuu!!, i love every single character in this anime, like, im physically Incapable of hating any of them. but olivier stands out for me. i think theres people who prolly had a bad impression from her as she antagonized ed and al right when she showed up, but young me was in awe of her attitude and her strong resolve in seeing for herself what ed and al were worth. shes known as ‘the ice queen of briggs’ and she leads her men with an iron fist, but its also clear that shes fair and values the life of every one of her subordinates, like when buccaneer and the others were late in coming back to the surface after their rescue mission and thought they would be left for dead, only to find that olivier had subtly made sure they would be received any time they came back.

her confidence in her own judgement, how she dealt w miles’ conflict as an amestris soldier and part ishvallan and the way she doesnt rly give a fuck abt whats lawful and correct and goes through with the things she herself considers right, are all things i love so much abt her. when i was a kid i even tried to get my hair to be like hers LMAO

4. Kinomoto Sakura (Cardcaptor Sakura)

cardcaptor sakura was my first true anime. i did watch saint seiya and naruto on tv around that time as well, but cardcaptor sakura was the first one i actually watched in full and then rewatched again and again and obsessed over, lmao.

i was rly, rly young then. not a baby anymore, def; i was about 10-12? it was an age at which i was building my own personality. honestly, at that point in time i think i was already kinda Messed Up, lmao; id get on Moods and be rly depressed and then super cranky, and i was always socially awkward. sakura made a huge impression on me; it just seemed like her attitude made everything better. she talked to everyone and had lots of friends and it seemed like she had a lot of fun like that. i tried to be more cheerful like that (i wanted roller blades too but i dont live in a place where i can use it a lot, and my parents never bought it for me lmao), and while i never got the hang of being super bright to Everyone and im still kind of moody, i think she rly taught me to be lighter and not take myself too seriously, to always try to see the bright side of things and believe that everything will be alright.

5. Nino (ACCA: 13-ku Kansatsu-ka)

thats not an anime a lot of people watched, i think, and on that note, if @ u all didnt watch it, GO WATCH ACCA ITS SO GOOD UR LOSING OUT???, so theres prolly not a lot of people who would put nino in their top 5 favorite characters lmao

but hes absolutely worthy of it. its fascinating to see the mystery of his identity and actions throughout the anime slowly unravel itself. i even wrote a oneshot that delved into what he was doing and what he was thinking as the events of the show progressed, trying to fill the blanks that the canon didnt show. ill try not to be spoilery w this one bc i want u all to find out for urselves, but i love ninos intelligence, his attitude and his strong loyalty, and in that loyalty, the conflict he feels between his duty and his desire. the episode that shows his past is one of my favorites bc its so heartrending. i love how naturally he fits in with jean and lotta and how the three of them look like a family. anyway, watch acca and love nino w me ♡

Who is a night owl: Tavis doesn’t really have any set sleep schedule, at least not initially, so how long he’s up really depends on the day, but he DOES like how darkness makes any manner of blast or bolt all the more appealing… Who is a morning person: Again Tavis is totally good with morning time–all he really requires is a certain amount of sleep in GENERAL, whatever time of day he gets it is irrelevant. As for Gar…I might be wrong but he seems like the type who’d probably like sleeping in, even if the morning is nice and peaceful and stuff sleep is still. important. Are they cuddlers: YEAH. YEAAAAAAAH. Tavis is embarrassed easily but affection and just being the most attention seeking goober on the planet makes him relent a lot and he is BIG ON THE CUDDLING. And Gar like. DUH. Have you MET the guy???!?! 

He makes a joke about Tavis being clingy and it’s a very interesting dayWho is the big spoon: Gar tried to be the big spoon but Tavis’s hair kept poking him and Tavis kept waking up in the middle of the night to being held and it flustered him so much he kept shocking Gar awake so until either of these issues can be sorted out Tavis is the big spoonWho is the little spoon: SEE ABOVEWhat is their favourite sleeping position: CHAOS.Who steals all the blankets: I feel like they’re both prone to doing it so it’s just this weird subconscious battle of will like at one point Gar rolled himself up in blankets and fell off the edge of the bed but Tavis was holding onto them so tight he didn’t even fall he was just suspended in this weird blanket hammockWhat they wear to bed: Oh Jesus Christ I have no idea, Tavis has no perception of sleep wear or literally ANY wear other than what he just. HAS. But it is NOT comfy to just spoon some dude in fucking armor even if it’s ridiculously skimpy so they need to work SOMETHING out. Tavis got three words into the suggestion of just sleeping in his underwear but thankfully his embarrassment protocol intervened violently once he realized the implication. Eventually he might just buy the most blinding and extravagant t-shirt boxer combo known to man, but we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. Who likes seeing the other wearing their t-shirt: Tavis doesn’t OWN any t-shirts but the idea of him looking at one of Gar’s and attempting to put it on and it getting stuck over his head because he’s too damn tall? Something tells me Gar would like that a lot assuming the shirt doesn’t rip. Who falls asleep mid-conversation: Tavis tends to have fatigue hit him all at once–he’s not really someone who knows how to balance sleepy and conscious at the same time, so it really comes out of nowhe–ZZZZZZZZZWho wakes up in the middle of the night with nightmares: They both do. When Gar has nightmares Tavis is really awkward about it but very earnest in his concern. He’s not good at addressing stuff or even like…acknowledging that Gar feels bad because that makes him feel bad and he doesn’t like that…but doing nothing doesn’t seem right either. So he probably just asks him questions about random things or tells some unrelated story. Maybe a compliment out of left field.

It’s harder when Tavis has them because it’s really hard for him still to let himself be vulnerable and seen as scared. Distraction works at some points, or just sort of wordless comfort, but eventually the longer they know each other the easier it might be to try to press him a bit and acclimate with just…talking about it. He feels better afterwards ugh he hates it stupid Gar stupid nice Gar and his nice words and stuff ugh. Who accidentally punched the other in their sleep: TAVIS WILLIAMS. END OF QUESTION.Who can’t keep their hands to themself: I think they’re both really touchy, but Tavis can sometimes be antsy and nervous, and kind of…seeks out physical touch as just a reminder?? Like he’s not a fucking infant he has some amount of object permanence it just doesn’t really FEEL real sometimes so he just needs to ground himself.
