I think it’s so interesting that for most of the series, Misty is portrayed as almost the most damned of the girls, in the sense that her violence is portrayed as meaningless/unprovoked while her kindness is portrayed as conniving/conspiratorial/conditional.

But in this ONE shot, she is allowed a closeness to divinity that she is rarely given. The only other time she is allowed this is in the pilot, when she brings the meat out to the other girls to devour. I think she’s only allowed these brief glimpses at the divine when the people around her are finally ready to accept the sacrifice that comes with the wilderness.

Lottie is on the cusp of death, begging for it so the other girls can have a chance to survive. Who better to confide in at this moment than the girl that death follows around every corner? Who better to sit with you at death’s door than a vulture who’s just as hungry and alone?

Who better to stay by your bedside than the stray willing to lick your wounds clean?
