Eep! But Gortash is my favorite non-party character in BG3 (I mostly play Urge, and its heavily implied he had a crush on the Dark Urge before the events of the game, so that probably doesn't help. I also feel bad for him because of his backstory (basically being sold to Raphael as a child)) even though it doesnt excuse his horrible actions and what he did to Karlach. Still, It's very difficult being a Gortash fan.

I have a new question about shapeshifters: if you were to stab one, and leave the knife, would it stay in place as they shifted forms?

And then on the other side Callisto’s panicking, because he just reacted on instinct, he didn’t mean to reveal that he’s a shape shifter, he just had the thought of ‘I need to get my baby brother somewhere safe’ and now he’s sealed away, all comfy and cozy inside his belly. His instincts are satisfied, knowing that Oliver’s secure, he’s in a good place, and he knows exactly where his baby brother is, can feel every shift and movement. The other part of his brain that has been raised and nurtured by human hand and ideals is shrieking its head off in horror.

he can barely even think straight with his instincts burning like wildfire through his mind and has to wait it out so that they’ll subside and he can feel Oliver getting progressively more tired out and anxious the longer he’s tucked away and it!s making him panic in turn and overall it’s just not good. Because it feels like when Oliver is scared or hurting, especially because of him; it’s like daggers, straight to the ribs bc he loves his baby brother more than anything else in the world. But still terrifying. Not the best introduction to noms so far.

maximum of 4-7 feet depending on ability. minimum is about 8% of their maximum (so much magic cannot be contained as easily)

Liu started as a female character and presents as such normally. They are a shape shifter and can switch between masc and fem appearances but any pronouns are fine for them as they are gender fluid. Canonically they are still figuring that out for themselves as they were raised cut off from the outside world. We love and cherish our gender non conforming royals in this house

so picture this, boy without friends spends a lot of time outside in nature and befriends a bird (i am thinking common swift maybe?), while later bird turns into a human (so like bird/human shape shifters) and they become close, however, it becomes winter and the bird migrates with her family

boy is deeply disappointed, but then, she returns next summer!! this continues a while until one summer she does not return (the boy is no longer a boy but a young man by this time) so he (very worried) goes to look for her. so turns out, someone in the big city somewhat nearby captured the bird and her family (oh no) and he goes to free them, but in the process gets captured himself. the bird discovers this and convinces her family to help her with freeing him.

boom happy ending. (maybe they stay together and he goes with her when she migrates) (AS FRIENDS) (THEYRE BESTIES)

🎆 - Do you/your self-insert have any powers or abilities? If so, what are they and how do they manifest?

Necromancer (self taught and it messed her up), shape shifting, color shifting, acid blood beam, jaws that can crack a person's arm clean off, some form of bard magic (she can influence how people feel and control the dead by singing).

She's essentially a necrobard. Being able to just influence living people, but when it comes to dead folks, that's where she has the upper hand. Controlling and making the dead do her bidding.

She's only one iteration of Pancake. There's a lot of others cuz i reuse the same S/I for everything. OG!Pancake is known as Leave Death to the Professionals!Pancake, where she's a demigod who has a Deity's soul in her possession (and that lead to a situationship). UTY!Pancake however, is NOT a demigod. She has an extended life, being a necromancer yes, but she's no demigod. Including Leave Death lore in UTY was confusing so I cut it.

As for the others, she's half human, half alien. And an alien species I made up called Terrorvants. Theyre shape and color shifters, though with being half human, her forms are extremely limited. Doesn't stop her from turning into a candy colored version of the Thing, though. Being able to change colors of her fur, hair, mouth, antennae, etc on a whim.

Call her a Mary Sue cuz that's what she essentially is and I love her

If leviathans are born as larvae then when they become kids how do they find their way in the world? Do some leviathans raise their young or are they all abandoned as eggs like most sea creatures? Also you said shifters don't know they're shifters until they have their "first shift" usually when out swimming in the open sea so does that mean they forget where came from? What are their childhoods often like? SORRY THATS SO MANY QUESTIONS!!

Leviathans and merfolk are very different things, I think you may have concepts confused x)

Levis just live their lives out at sea like irl sea creatures do. Some of them abandoned to their fate, others raised by the parents until theyre old enough to survive on their own etc

With merfolk its different, and varies per region but usually they will keep the eggs near the shore or in special locations that are protected until the larvae hatch and then can take care of them like regular kids. Some are cared for by their parents specifically, others are cared for by the community instead.

Shifters finding out about being able to change shape is usually when they are older and head out on their own and figure that out, but they would still know where they come from

Childhoods again vary but a lot of it is spent protecting them from trouble x)
