Welp folks, looks like we're in for a hell of a season of puppet history!

the set is gorgeous this season. i always have loved the puppet history set and how it evolves season after season. the mismatched chairs are beautiful. i love the lion and beaver and little dinos. and eagle eyed viewers may notice the brick wall came from the old pod watcher set, and watcher tv folks might have noticed the scuba lamp fella is the light they made on weird wonderful world (thanks to @toomanywatchers for pointing that one out to me!) also the new theater!! its gorgeous!! the stars light up!!! its so pretty!! incredible craftsmanship!

now why is ryan holding a ... hose (?) ready to fight someone? maybe to melt a wicked witch of the west? kill a genie? kick some hologram ass again — water is good in a fight against electronics [unless the substitute is a pokemon] — either way its a little too soon to tell but i love to throw shit at the wall and see if it will stick like molasses so maybe he's fighting dorthy ruth's shady second husband.

I spent a long time trying to decipher what the "Reader" actually says but the image was too compressed to make anything out besides possibly a captial R, and the first time i read it I read it as reader, so we'll go with that for now. Now, who is this mysterious reader? why is he in contact with the Substitute? I believe this reader is the mystery puppet we saw in this tease from shane a few weeks ago.

we see the reader be buddy buddy with the professor. maybe they're friends from long ago, maybe they're family, maybe they've just met. either way, he plays the key role in helping or hurting the puppets that are trapped in pergatory.

Now, is he working with the Substitute? did he just meet with them? it seems that simply contacting the substitute could lead to vaporation, and if the reader wants to help free the trapped puppets from pergatory, the substitute would be the only other puppet (besides literal god and satan) that would have any information. So the Reader could be a good guy just looking to help out and looking for information.

or he is working with the Substitute by getting buddy buddy with the professor. He learns about dorthy ruth and how she is on a mission to get her stanly melvin back from pergatory. so he, as an evil scientist that may have created the substitute, slips her a horse brain pill so that she forgets everything, even her own name, as the song above suggests.

I do find it interesting how all of my information about the reader is coming from The Department, who is basically just using the reader as a scapegoat. if the department is supposed to keep puppets safe, why are they covering this up? why are they using vaporization death penalties? what is really going on here? why is my silly puppet show slowly turning into a massive lore dump with an overbearing government that is pumping out propaganda and using scapegoats? why am i having so much fun with it and so excited to start a puppet revolution? free your felt hands from your chains!

The more I dig, all im left with is more questions. I can not wait to see what is in store for us. This has been the most fun I've ever had digging for lore. I can't wait for this season !!!! It's going to be so insane and fun.

BASICALLY. aziraphale is an angel, crowley is a demon. theyve known each other for 6,000 years, at the creation of the universe (when crowley was still an angel. he created stars and everything. very nice job) and theyve become great... friends (wink) even though theyre not supposed to be! so theyre not friends! theyre eeeevil enemies. and then they go out for dinner

anyways. idk how to explain it well but theyre just SOOOOO!!

ok so now im going to try and do like. a whole thing explaining everything below so SPOILERS!!!!

okay so. in the beginning aziraphale and crowley were both angels. they met when crowley was making stars and galaxies and all that pretty stuff, and aziraphale came to say that they were going to shut it down after a bit. crowley gets upset and goes whaaaa this is so cool why would they do that (lil thing to note. aziraphale is like. interested in crowley but he doesnt really care) and then they have some really nice scene

d'aww. ok and so THEN! some big war happens i think? i dont know they dont show that part and crowley falls. demon moment!!! and then they go through all these different decades being friends, getting to know each other, and its great. aziraphale sins a little bit (gluttony), crowley saves aziraphales books, and they all have fun. oh btw. crowley can transform into a snake, and apparently hes the one that caused adam and eve to eat the apple? BUT! theres this other great scene where theyre talking, and its revealed that aziraphale gave his flaming sword to adam and eve, showing that he loves humans and has a soft spot for them, and theres this other great shot

THE PARALLELS!!!!!!!!! AUUUGh (^ this one came before. btw) and so this is sort of them showing how ohh, theyre not supposed to hang out because angel good demon evil waaah but they just KEEP ON FINDING EACH OTHER. oh and. speaking of like. showing off different softer sides of them. in season 2, theres a lot of bits where they show that crowley is pretty much putting up this show of being so meaaan and eeevil but hes actually nice and cares about humans (bringing jobs kids back, keeping that girl from dying, etc). ok now onto talking about season one. warning i havent watched this season in a bit so this is just me going off memory.

ok so! the big issue this season is "oh noooo we lost the antichrist!! big bad things gonna happen" and its awesome. OK SO. it starts off with crowley delivering the antichrist to this satanist church? and theres two women having babies that night. ONE is a normal family, who are supposed to have a normal baby. THE OTHER ONE is a rich family who is supposed to have the EEEVIL baby. can u guess what happens. BABY SWITCH!!! they didnt realize it tho so crowley and aziraphale are sent after the wrong baby. (to make him sin/be good) and then they realize on his 11th? birthday "aw crud! wrong baby." and go on some search to find the right antichrist. and that brings us to ADAM!!! hes the antichrist, and one coooooool kid. hes pretty normal tho and just hangs out with his friends. and then one day on his 11th birthday this dog shows up! (hellhound) and then off on the side theres this witch lady named anathema device who has a book that knows the future. crazy stuff. oh and this guy names newt whos kinda a dork and talks to this weird witch hunter guy shadwell and his neighbor madame tracy. oh and the four horseman of the apocalypse are around and free OKAY. into it now. anthma knows something bad is going to happen (book), and she moves to london because thats where its gonna happen!! whaaaat!!! and newt moves to london because uhh. witch finder i think? and he goes to meet shadwell and accidently meets tracy. not important rn. shadwells kinda bonkers and freaks newt out. ok now onto anathema. im pretty sure that aziraphale and crowley were driving around (oh btw. he has a magic bentley) and hit her!! yeoch. and after driving her home she accidentally leaves her book in the bentley and aww they gotta meet up again aw shucks. okay now they go searching for adam (antichrist) and i dont think they find him? anyways i forgot how but then tracy shadwell newt and anathema all meet up with crowley and aziraphale and do a seance. i forgot what about but ohh nooo aziraphale is in madame tracys body!!! ok so i kinda forgot how again but somehow theyre all at some big area and the four horsemen and running around i forgot what theyre doing and BLAM ADAM SHOWS UP hes mad. hes trapped his friends into doing what he wants. hes gonna start the apocalypse. average 11 yr old stuff. BUT!!! crowley and aziraphale manage to calm him down and newt blows something up. idk whats going on anymore. satan comes out, "grrrah im ur father adam". its a nice lovely moment. but oh wait!!! gabriel (heavens big man) and beezelbub (hells high duke) come down/up and r like "yall r in biiiig trouble! cant be doin all this" and they try to kill both of them. aziraphale in hellfire, crowley in holy water. that scene comes and yoo wait theyre both alive??? this is insane!!!! theyre both MILKING it, bein dramatic and then. at the end. WHAOOOAH THEYRE ACTUALLY THE OTHER ONE?????

and thats the end of season one. okay so i know that this is incredibly long but im not even done. im going to reblog this later with me talking about season two and that should be shorter. OH BTW

and so they spent a horribly uncomfortable day with boos parents and its basically a huge disaster but at the end kiki and boo laugh about it because after that his parents were like well if this is who u bring home i guess its fine ur not married yet or whatever (theyre fine with the whole gender and sexuality thing they just think kiki is WEIRD AS HELL)

after that whole thing happened kiki realized he really liked crossdressing and so they quit their job at her old place and boo was like well its no fun if i dont get to hang out with you at work (she had also been contemplating quitting bouncer work for a while before meeting kiki) so he quit too. currently kiki is a drag queen at a different club and boo works as a caretaker at a nearby cemetery

Venice (35 y/o, he/him)

Minte (pronounced minty) (33 y/o, he/they)

quick rundown on the story uhhh Venice is sorta the mc he grew up in an assasin/gang setting and eventually ran away and kept getting tangled up and couldnt leave that lifestyle behind and took up being a hitman but eventually found kanai (who was close to being in the same situation) so he took her in and raised her as a daughter and made a proper life for himself and everything until. one day. his past caught up to him. and he found her body in the snow on train tracks.

but it was faked and was used to get him back in the game but he continued to work as a paid hit man (one of his main things was actually kinda seducing people then getting info or killing them) and he eventually met minte. and they. toxic yaoi. minte was also a paid killer but he also rlly likes music and yaya and one day venice just. well. venice was paid to kill minte and minte said "we'll run away together" and venice said okay but. he ended up betraying that and instead shot him (agaaain in a snowy setting) but he didnt kill him.

fast forward some years later venice gets called in to work for an org. trying to get info on some weird other organization that is suspected of taking people into experiemnt on them. a group of ppl are called in. GUESS WHO ELSE. minte. he is immeditaley like "ohoho look who it is~ little prick venice awwww look at thatttt~" and venice wants to either kill himself or minte. anyways.

not fully fleshed out but on the other side: kanai is not dead. she is part of that same organization venice is workin on taking down. at first venice believed they stole her memories or wtv. but. they didnt. im not sure whyyy exactly kanai stayed by her own will but it was smthn like. fate is fate. it was never gonna last. stuffs like that.

then theres naiya. Moth girl as I call her. She loves moths (cuz i do) and her design is based off the cecropia moth.....(my favorite.....) well. she cant remember where she came from but she calls the "enemy" org. her home. She's prolly an experiment????. not fully fleshed out but it makes sense plus it plays into her whole "not feeling human, not feeling natural, feeling abnormal" play. or also "i am not a butterfly like all other living beings, I am not gazed upon with awe. I am disregarded with digust, associated with the emptiness of life". like a moth. shes eccentric, lil crazy, and loyal not to her home, but to the orders given to her. She gets attached easily..and when kanai comes in when theyre both kids..she gets attached. very. very much attached. yeah you know what that means

okay firstly orientation and all that. i imagine her as being nonbinary and female at the same time but i cant decide on which label fits that (bigender or demigirl are my current options. im indecisive as hell WAH). uses she/they. people usually nickname her rika but hiro calls her ron :)

also adhd haver i think... i love projecting onto characters

for battlegear, they notably dont like, have headgear in a lot of promo art? usually i imagine her using the cephalo pods and wearing them outside of battle to listen to music too. probably listens to music during battle LOL (i imagine deep cut, maybe squid sisters too when shes neo 3..)

personality wise? kind of lines up with common interpretations i think. energetic and a bit wild, a little weird to most. a bit of a prankster, too- if youre confused by her words, she's probably messing with you (lightheartedly, of course). but they can be genuine in moments, mainly toward their closest friends (roommates, in my mind, lol)

speaking of roommates, i like imagining she lives with hiro, ane, and little buddy. specifically moving in with ane and hiro after spending most of her life with little buddy as her only friend. neo 3 or not, i like seeing them as having a close, familial-type bond with them, though that label's never put to it in words. ane and hiro are friends they love turf battling with and against (usually against due to how i have main teams sorted in my brain) but theyve got a little something going on with hiro.. (wow im hironika shipper? no way! crazy)

their main team? i call it yellow team, but not publicly cause i dont wanna get into coroika territory there. its based off of this part of some promo art specifically where theyre with yarrwhal, stephanie, and kayoss :) i still think she battles outside of this team though, mainly w/ hiro and ane (cause she lives with them and all)

main weapon is DEFINITELY tri-stringer. i think she could use reeflux and splatana wiper too.. but theyre the type to stick to a main, despite their chaotic nature

okay everything after this point is like honorable mentions that i dont rly care about a whole lot but are like good watches anyways even if they arent my faves if that makes sense? like i like them but im not crazy about them

-the exorcist (this is literally the only horror movie that has ever like. gave me actual genuine fear. but that might be bc i was raised christian and watched this for the first time at 9 years old)
