I analyze fandoms the same way I analyze the media they're built around and that should concern all of you
#the MXTX fandoms are FASCINATING#They reflect their books#(SVSSS has the most‚ most creative‚ and some of the best AUs and is also twice as unhinged as the other two combined)#(MDZS has the most and prettiest art (the settings and character design cannot be matched) and most interesting dynamic analysis.)#(TGCF has the cleanest (RELATIVE) fandom and the biggest obsession with its main couple (rightly so) It also has the least shipping overlap#but they are also distinct creations of themselves- I've seen the LEAST amount of mpreg in MDZS#(desite the fact that WWX would LOVE that!)#Now why is that? let's think about it#hmm. Well‚ since they already have the juniors‚ a lot less people are making up new kids- and therefore requiring mpreg#or they're taking advantage of characters like Xue Yang who could've used a good dad or two.#very interesting!#but don't worry! this analysis is not confined to the MXTX fandom!#you ever look at how the fandom for The Song of Achilles (TSOA) reflects its books?#First of all they've got some AMAZING art#and the book has amazing descriptions#and‚ interestingly‚ this fandom has unusually well-divided attention among the parts of the book#which reflects a very nice significance everything seemed to have when I read them#we also have a majority of popular AUs that are “they're happy now fuck you‚” my favorite being them adopting Hyacinthus#and honestly? the book wanted them to be happy too#you could feel it#anyway I love analyzing shit and I will never run out of victims#analysis#fandom#mxtx#mdzs#svsss#tgcf#tsoa#ramblings

Can we not just stop birthing men like... women have to stop giving life to men.
I'm doing my part ✌️ and I agree but collectively most women wouldn't. I remember when there was discourse over a radfem having & celebrating giving birth to a baby boy. I've seen radfems praise lesbian couples adopting baby boys.
Tbh a lot of women are sellouts, they sellout other women & even betray themselves for love or having a slightly higher social status in society. When forced to cohabit with predators that have more power & essentially want to reproduce a copy of themselves, women giving them that could elevate or secure their status in society - it's an incentive & many would go for it.
Another thing to consider is that many women birth maIes to spare their lives, there's been cases where maIes would kill their partners & daughters for the woman not having a son (even though the sperm determines the sex). Part of me considers maternal instincts of women not being able to kill their maIe offspring bc that's still their child but then I think of post partum psychosis & cultures where daughters are routinely killed when they're born. If these instincts applied to maIe & female children I dont think things would've gotten this bad. Also a lot of women treat their sons much better than their daughters.
In a patriarchial society, birthing sons lets boymoms live out their power fantasies through their sons. They 'borrow' power from their sons or use their sons as a proxy for power. Like toxic mother in-laws treating their daughter in-laws like shit bc it's through the association that this woman is married to their son, women that cover up their sons sex crimes, in some cultures; boymoms look for women who've undergone FGM for their sons.
Bear in mind so many women still have faith in maIes as a collective, they think they'll raise the "good ones". This notion is popular in feminist spaces, women think they'll magically train & raise maIe allies. There's a saying of how several boymoms have emotional incest with their sons, they see there aren't good maIes in society so they want to create their own one(s).
However I think the biggest issue is that women are never going to be sociopathic or apathetic enough to moids. It would take a high level of apathy to abort maIe fetuses & refuse to birth another xy solely on the basis of their sex, to get to this point you'd need to have this feeling towards maIes generally and most women dont have this. MaIe survival is contentigent on female subjugation, women dont need to subjugate maIes to survive, we carry life, we can also provide for ourselves & maIes know it which is why they've set up societies the way they are and they're brutal about it because they and their bloodlines would be dead anyways if they dont have a system forcing women to rely on them to survive. That said; In the end despite everything, many women still want to partner with maIes, many women still love & believe in maIes. Most women wont disassociate with maIes collectively, catherine mckinnon goes into this in her book "the second sex" where she speaks about how women are scattered everywhere & identify with the tribes maIes put them into as opposed to seeing themselves as a sovereign group.
I personally dont think birthing another oppressor is worth it but people are different. Of course this can (& does) backfire against women but by the time the damage is realised it's too late. Ultimately for a shift in gender ratio & for women to refuse to birth maIes at any cost, they need to think bigger than themselves individually. Think of womankind instead of maIe supremacy & its structures but this will never happen & I wont kid myself otherwise.

#like servant like sultana huh? but this time it's *Mahidevran* who apparently mirrors Gülşah as we see her rule later. both got these#positions so unexpectedly - it should've probably been someone else but it's them and they're *thrilled* as they can finally achieve what#they've always wanted through these promotions: to command power over these so despised people that have disrespected them; that they've#been embarrassed by; that have even taken their most cherished away; for Gülşah it's something more general/all-encompassing opposed by#many people while for Mahidevran it's something more specific opposed by a single person but both *feel* that same drive to seek#accountability and justice to the point of enacting revenge anyway. they both ultimately get carried away by that pull. they both operate#by letting people know they're in charge through pulling rank as an absolute lecturing that precise tradition and order that puts them#above brazenly issuing orders to discredit and/or outright punish those who've offended them: it's one person Mahi/Gülşah have a particular#beef with during their rules (Daye/Hürrem respectively) but Gülşah didn't show any resentment of Daye until that point thus Daye is more#the cumulative power Gülşah is starting to lord above while Hü is that exact hurt for Mahi bringing it all back to the general vs. personal#there're other notable differences here like in their speeches about order/tradition because quite a part of Mahi actually believes in#the good these traditions can bring and their necessity as much as she resents their restrictive ruthlessness but Gülşah doesn't believe in#any tradition really she just mirrors what she's seen and known her entire life using it just for her goals no more no less;#for Gülşah all will be okay only when they do what she says because she's so understandably insecure about her authority over *everyone*#while for Mahi all will be fine only when the order is kept in general including there being no unrest among the concubines#(hence peace; another pre-Manisa to post-Manisa transitional point perhaps?); they both want 2 certain ağas to “understand” but while they#say they do without much/any question for Mahi no matter how much they dislike it they are almost forced to by Gülşah and they don't hide#not their dislike but *disregard*; even Gülşah's short rule is telling of her position: SS dismissing her is completely out of her control#she's removed before even doing all that much - another symbolic reminder of how little agency she has - while SS dismissed Mahi because#she truly screwed up a lot in spite of her being framed this is the one time she was given *all* the agency; they both encounter the person#they're replaced with but with Gülşah it happens immediately to highlight the out-of-reach suddenness while with Mahi it happens afterwards#as a result almost. I included the bonus parallels because while Mahi didn't rule the harem then it was almost a set-up for that with a S2B#bent to it while Gülşah as treasurer highlights that this is indeed a harem within the harem; it's Mustafa's harem now as a preparation for#Manisa while also being a culmination of Gülşah's own arc (I kind of like that in spite of their relations being brought back to normal#Gülşah still doesn't have that many scenes with Mahi or in general compared to S01; it adds to this little rule's culminative feel)#also Mahi looking carefully through the concubines to truly pick who she thinks is best while Gülşah is just ecstatic to make calls at all!#magnificent century#muhteşem yüzyıl#mahidevran sultan#gulsah hatun

the people in the tags understand me. starembers art is super pretty but also weird at times.
#xie lian has been doing manual labor for a living (breaking boulders on his chest WITH NO SPIRITUAL ENERGY brick laying farming etc)#im anti twink xie lian#also i dont think he should have mxtx protagonist snowy white skin. maybe as a sheltered prince. but he has been planting rice for years.#AT LEAST GIVE HIM A TAN#and hua cheng died as a malnourished 17 year old (he has been working out since then but i still prefer skinnier headcanons).#why does everybody have light eyes (even putting aside the colorism in the novel.)#why does xie lian have this wide-eyed-lips-parted-blank look and hua cheng have bedroom eyes all of the time#(not that they can't necessarily make these expressions but augh.)#why are they tall as fuck in every full body shot#why are their hands so big.#again i don't want to put any opinions in an actual post because i havent read the comic and it might be different than i think#but just based on the art ive seen... theyve been very yaoified. thats the best word i have#even by the point the manhua has reached (lqq arc iirc)#they've been having sincere and vulnerable moments#and i havent really seen panels that tell me that. let them be silly and awkward and fuck up. even if it makes them less sexy for a moment#and also?? xie lian (again just based off the art) seems to have lost a lot of agency?#he is a 'go with the flow' guy but he is also pretty situationally aware and clever#but the vibes i get are that he gets wide-eyedly dragged from plot point to plot point#(in the case where hua cheng slung him over his shoulder literally??)#(he would not fucking do that book 1.)#please correct me if i'm wrong#i'll probably get around to reading the manhua faster if someone tells me theyre more in character than i think they are#lmao#if you love the manhua disregard me.#not art#to delete l8er#(possibly)#(if i turn out to be wrong about this which is possible)#(or if someone decides they are very emotionally invested in my medium intensity feelings)

not you advertising for me in the tags bye ily 🥹🥹💕
annnnyway some of those fandoms caught my eye so i'm just gonna put descendants, arcane and opla in here pretty please <3
sorry this took me so long i was genuinely freaking out trying to figure out the whole 'best character' part of this and figuring out the formatting gave me more trouble than it should've <333
descendants
favorite character(s): JANELOS MY BELOVEDS. y'all will never make me hate jane. i love her so much, she's an absolute cutie patootie and so so pretty and i support her wrongs solely because fairy godmother should've been a better parent and should've actually helped her. and carlos !! the loml. he's never done anything wrong ever, he also has the best style of the core 4 but that's another discussion for another time. he just needs so many hugs and i'm very sad that he is canonically now dead (even though, ofc i know why and i'm not gonna judge the decision)
are they the best character(s)?: i'm gonna say no and instead say that uma is. she knows what she wants and how to get it and what she wanted wasn't even awful or selfish. she didn't want fairy godmother's wand to cause chaos, she wanted it to free her people and she didn't want to be chosen for auradon for herself and to go crazy, she wanted everyone to go if they wanted so they could have a better life. and amazingly, her goals don't shift over the course of the three movies she's in, she just wants every vk to be someone's priority and to have a voice and a choice (ha that rhymed)
arcane
favorite character(s): hmm probably viktor or ekko. i've been a big viktor fan for a while now (even though i was mad suspicious of him during his s1 introduction but that's not important) and i support his jesus-agenda (also he looks so good in s2 omg). and then with ekko, i loved him from the moment i saw him and wanted to protect young him so bad !! i was very happy when he was revealed to be the firelight leader and really liked his dynamic with heimer in s2. i've never rooted against these two ever (save for that little parentheses up there)
are they the best character(s)?: objectively, no one's really the best character (in my opinion) cause they're all very morally grey save for like some of them but the best written is probably ekko, i'm not even being biased. he's the most consistent character and has angered (meaning due to a completely ooc/very bad and avoidable writing choice) me the least out all of the characters. i know a lot of the characters have been said to have changed in s2 but i feel like ekko really hasn't all that much and any change has been due to events on-screen
one piece live action
favorite character: roronoa "my beautiful beloved" zoro. he's just so pretty and strong and cool and funny. i low-key wanna be him tbh, cause he's everything i wanna be. i love swords and he has three of them so- guys i love zoro so much i'm not even joking (special mention: luffy cause i love him too)
are they the best character?: i don't think so. i think that it might be usopp. i mean he's just such a guy, like such a person, if that makes a lick of sense. he reacts to situations like most people would and he's the most realistic out of all the characters. this is a franchise that does not follow realism though, so that might be a negative for some people...but anyway. i once saw someone say that usopp's the bravest one on the team because being brave is doing things even though you're scared whereas the others have little fear and aren't technically 'brave' and that's just so valid. i also feel like he was the only character who never had a moment that felt different then their previous scenes (like in a personality sense)
thank you so much for the ask :))) i love getting to talk about characters like this
