I'm on a time-tracking rewatch. 2x03 was 11 weeks before opening, and 2x05 was 6 weeks before opening. You're telling me he didn't tell Sydney for a whole month that he was hanging out with a friend who's a girl? It's not like he was keeping it a secret from everyone because Natalie knew early on he was spending time with Claire.
Whether platonic or a business partnership, if Syd and Carmy were building a friendship, it's strange that he didn't tell Sydney at all.

Bour was just like casually bringing BATB into things as an Easter egg#since it was his first job in animation#and like don't get me wrong; I LOVE that he did this. I just don't know how he expected anyone (i.e. me) to be normal about it afterwards#once you've introduced BATB; it ceases to be a fun and casual reference and just makes the literature major girlies go feral#i thought this was gonna be a quick and easy little project but it wasn't#the parallels are all there but they're in slightly different order in EoA than the original and the pacing for each reference is differen#so i had to determine which ones I needed to skip frames for and which ones to use all the frames#and then try to figure out the speed from there#the coronation day scenes were very hard to color because the grey skies and muted filter kind of whitewash the characters#like you don't even understand i added so MUCH vibrance and saturation to the 4th and 5th gifs but elena's skin still is just gray#and the coloring is still just a very very mixed bag#also i've realized that while I don't think it was an intentional reference in the same way BATB was#anna's sacrifice and resurrection from frozen is perhaps just as --if not more-- a clear parallel to the coronation day scene than BATB#so maybe I will do that one someday too?#once i psych myself up again to try coloring coronation day again#which i imagine will be awhile#these do not look like the same scene and pretty much the same scene at all even if i tried to use the same psd when i could#and edit them to make the coloring as close as i could

#this will likely be the last of my recent twcfm posts#but i did love goemon's (and fujiko's) depictions/relationships#all goemon wants is a friend like him since he feels so alone in the world#but he fell in love with a person who doesn't exist#and he keeps setting himself up for failure by hoping for fujiko to change into the woman he thought she was#only to end up more lonely since before meeting fujiko (the ending of twcfm “resolves” their relationship but it felt wrapped up too soon)#also i'm specifically thinking of the scene where they're on the beach and goemon interprets her actions as having been good and honest for#once only to end up disappointed when she hadn't changed for the better to be more in line with his values#as for fujiko she got closure from her trauma but her relationship with goemon went nowhere#she was too traumatized to understand that goemon was trustworty and genuinely did love her unlike all the other men in her life so far#but it was interesting to see her being comfortable “alone” after she dealt with her trauma as well as her new outlook on life#but i still feel bad for goemon; he deserved better and all he wanted was for someone to want/love him and make him feel he belongs#lupin iii#lupin the third#lupin the 3rd#goemon ishikawa xiii#goemon#fujiko mine#twcfm#the woman called fujiko mine#fujigoe
