I sincerely hope that Gamefreak didn't debunk the fandom's main two theories (possessed Kieran and the imagination one) just because of this trend that if your public manages to predict a plot point by following the clues you been throwing at them then it means it's a BAD story and the ending must be changed at the last second to keep the shock factor. Because everyone knows a good story must have a ~*plotwist*~ rather than a fullfilling, cohesive ending.
Like I don't mind that the imagination theory isn't canon, and I think that Kieran not being possessed makes him a more interesting character since his actions come from his own flaws rather than from a random third party. What annoys me, however, is that by debunking said theories, the many plotholes the story has have remained unanswered. And it's not like Gamefreak doesn't know about them - they literally pointed them out to make them obvious to the player (Arven mentions that it doesn't make sense that Heath found paradoxes in Area Zero before the time machine was built, Carmine points out that we still don't know how the loyal three revived after Kieran punched their shrine). You don't point out your own story's flaws unless you actually have a proper explanation for them and you're hinting your public "yeah, we know this doesn't make sense, but it will in the future ;)". This is why the Indigo Disk/Mochi Mayhem was a letdown for most of us: we expected answers, and instead we got... nothing. Maybe even more questions that probably will remain unanswered (unless we get some video like pecharunt, which is the laziest option. you need to explain your story during the story, not after!).
I'm not trying to throw shade at these games because I hated them - I liked them in fact! And I wouldn't be so annoyed if they were capital-s Shit tier games, because I would have expected nothing. But it hurts me that a pokémon game has the skeleton of a good story and completely wastes it, and I don't even know why would they do that. Maybe they want to exploit the ""hidden lore"" to promote later games, a future remake or legends-like game, attracting the fans who think it'll finally explain""the truth"" (spoiler: it won't, and if they do, it'll be a retcon).
I don't know if Gamefreak truly has some sort of explanation for the paradoxes, the loyal three revival or Kieran's dark hand aura. If they do, they'll probably save them for another game (remake or a legends-like game), the anime, or just release another video (unlikely if they haven't done it yet). But, in my opinion, the probably don't have any, and if they ever had one, it was one or both of the aforementioned theories and they decided to scrap them for some reason. If that's so, I don't think we're getting an explanation and they'll expect us to just forget about it.
I said it before and I'm going to said it again: I liked the game. I liked the DLCs. Hell I even liked the epilogue, even with it's flaws. But you can't argue me that it seems that, at some point during the development of the Indigo Disk, they decided to change the course of the story. The Area Zero-Terapagos quest was rushed, we get nothing explained about Pecharunt-the loyal three and their connection is only hinted by a few interactions, their resurrection it's not even explained in it's video. And I refuse to believe Kieran's aura was unintentional: you can see the purple glow both when he punches the shrine (with the camera focused on his fist) and in the ID promotional art, and the camera often focuses on his affected hand, specially when he feels frustration against the player. I don't know, maybe I'm grasping at straws, but to me it looks like they had something in mind that they dedided to scrap at the last moment, for whatever reason, and they didn't have the time to create a new ending that made sense.
I don't know what happened but I sincerelly hope they didn't truly "troll us" because if they made a plotwist specifically to "troll" us I'm going to be so mad at Gamefreak I'm exploding

I do think people forget that when Rhaenyra walked the castle battlements of Duskendale weeping, refusing to eat or sleep, she was, in all the ways, heartbreakingly alone. She was a mother with five children lost, a widow too (for some reason people forget this aspect?), a dragonrider who had her dragon with whom she had shared her cradle killed (the canon literally tells us that Syrax's death left her inconsolable). It's just very interesting how for some people everyone else is allowed to suffer and their losses are blown out of proportion, but Rhaenyra isn't, and her total losses (which were devastating) are of little to no value to some.

i dont get people's obsession with book making up with/forgiving people from her past because is her whole arc in tpot not about moving on from the past and finding new friends. idk people really want her and ice cube or match or pencil or taco or you get the point to make up and i don't see the point. let her have new friends. let her move on. not everything has to end with everybody being happy and silly together. they can be on bad terms/not talking/literally not friends. it's ok guys. I Really Just Want Them To Move On From Each Other and for people to stop forcing her back into toxic environments from her past
i think book confronting her past is important and i personally feel that she's been avoiding it (her lack of objection towards ice cube leaving her in tpot 1 and her dreading having to deal with it in tpot 10) so obviously it shouldn't just be swept under the rug but i Do Not feel like book owes match or pencil (especially pencil because match has been shown to at least be trying to improve. iirc i don tremember like anytihn gfrom bfb LOL) forgiveness. She shouldn't have to be forced to suck up and go back with people who hurt her. i genuinely think it's best that they go their seperate ways.
^ i also feel like the whole "they should just go their seperate ways" thing applies to icebook. their relationship in bfb was mutually toxic and both of them hurt the other with a lack of proper communication and whatnot. soooooo many people want ice cube and book to make up and be friends again it tpot but they're Not Good For Each Other!!! also book hasn't proven that she's grown enough from her time in bfb to even handle being around ice cube again without repeating her same mistakes towards her. ice cube has no reason to not dislike her right now because she's just acting the same as she did in bfb towards her in tpot 12. if book wants to have a chance at being with ice cube again she needs to realize /what/ she did wrong; book and ice cube's boundaries were always a mess and a big problem in their relationship was that constant pushing of boundaries by book, something that she saw no issue with because ice cube never spoke up about it until it got to an extreme point.
i fear if book and ice cube become friends again in tpot they'll A. just repeat their same mistakes or B. have all of those mistakes conveniently disappear so book faces no consequences for her mistakes in bfb which is like Not Good
i get wanting your fav friendships to interact again but *insert nerd emoji here* it makes no sense for her character and the arc they're trying to give her this season acshually
book needs to accept that her past doesn't define her so she can move on from that and move on from her past friendships. she needs to accept that those people are gone for a reason instead of chasing after them. She Needs To Actually Learn A Lesson And Change, Tpot Writers
vaguely related but dont get me wrong i love icebook (peep the blog lol) but maaaaaaaaaan i don't like seeing it portrayed all fluffy and happy and wholesome. you do you but GAFHGFDGFDKG there's so much interesting stuff about the flsaws in their relationship and just how disgustingly attached book is to ice cube and how ice cube allows this to happen until it's too much for her to handle and how book focuses so much more on ice cube than herself and they're so awfully codepdendent and they suck at communication and boundaries and they were honestly always doomed to fail They Won't Work Out Together they're tied by fate and can't live without each other even if it's hurting them and AND AND AND make their relationship uglier it won't hurt to have ship content that's not 100% happy fluffy all the time no flaws ever fix-it fic material (obligatory you do you i don't care that much this is my opinion you are allowed to do whatever you want)

Oh hsr... so then why did we spend a WHOLE PATCH with aventurine and his sad tragic backstory where some of it could have been in a character quest so the main plot could be paced better 🫠 I didn't mind learning about aventurine but I was like man are they going to cram everything into 2.2? And it looks like they did. Also what do you think of the pov switching? I'm not sure how it is like necessary 🤔 idk I mean I guess you can play as boothill but not really do anything with him. Maybe some of the plotlines like with sparkle will pay off in 2.3 but that's me being optimistic. I still overall like penacony story better than luofu but hmmm the philosophical ramblings not really going anywhere and there's going to be another IPC character that'll be playable which is oh boy I have no faith in the story writing of her. And firefly was um. A character. I liked her convo with blade! But other than that she was okay. Idk are any of the playable characters other than Robin even from penacony??? I know there's Misha and Gallagher but they're well... you know not exactly with us. I wish they went the hey yeah capitalism sucks direction rather than aww poor Sunday 😔 he just needs a hug 🫂. They were so close in 2.1 with him what happened???
LITERALLY 80% of 2.1 should have been aventurine character quest. like he's fine as a character, tho im not loving how slavery used for his sad backstory, but ignored that hes now doing it to others, but like literally nothing payed off in main quest. why did i have to hear him argue with his ghosts of past and future
i dont mind POV switching as concept, i think not tying us to the MC's view can be good for storytelling, but like, when it actually contributes smth? like in sumeru heist going from different parts of the plan makes sense bc we get to see how plan unfolds. boothill and sparkle literally didnt do anything that mattered tho, so like... we got to hear boothill being hey pardner at dan heng for like 20 minutes and nothing came out of it. they need to get an editor for real....
i have no faith in how they handle IPC at all after this one tbh. can we fucking stop with woobyfied sexy slavers. is it too much to ask
firefly was. a character indeed. like tbh im not loving how they use this "elio script" to just have stellaron hunters do whatever shit is convinient for plot with no logic or inner motivation. like she had zero reason to be here, zero personal goals. like its just cheap. also did she like die?? there was dialogue with raiden where shes like we should do it bc firefly cant go back to real world without dying, so we should honor her. did they like kill her off screen???
but like yeah, 2.0-2.1 AND part of 2.2 was like "capitalism sucks", but then it just goes ACSHUALLY capitalism is just natural order, should poor\weak ppl even have right to decide for themselves???? like what even the fuck

I've been seeing lots of takes lately with people feeling hatred towards part 2 Speedwagon for being a greedy capitalist who probably exploited people and done some shady stuff to become wealthy because there was '''no way he could have become rich just from oil money'''... thoughts?
it's so disappointing to see some bad takes about the Speedwagon Foundation being some "acshually nasty organization" and about Speedwagon supposedly becoming some heartless rich man popping up again. And like, I shouldn't even be surprised at this point considering how the average "Jojo fan" mistreats Part 1 and 2 and alllll the misinformation they love to spread about them and about some characters in particular, often bastardizing them into wildly out of character versions and pretending those fanons are canon for whatever reason (being Speedwagon one of the characters that gets bastardized like that the most), sometimes just to make Blorbo Of Their Choice look better by throwing every other character under the bus, sometimes just because people can't be bothered to pay attention to the og if there are no punching ghosts on sight (and even then, Jojo parts featuring stands get misinterpreted a lot too).
This is gonna be long, so let me start by saying that if y'all really believe that Speedwagon somehow became some nasty ass rich man, then you're completely misinformed and you (and I say "you" in general and not specifically you anon) might benefit from rereading/rewatching the source material and actually paying attention to the plot and details this time.
Like, I've seen people assuming that the Foundation only researched the stone mask and eventually stand stuff, and completely forgetting that one of the literal main goals and also one of the biggest things the Foundation does is seeking for the betterment of the planet as a whole (preserving nature, wildlife, etc) as well as for the betterment of medicine and health care, actually seeking for the best for all humankind, this in addition to all the secret branches it has for the research of supernatural phenomena like stands, stone masks, pillar men, and so on in order to prevent as many incidents with them as possible and prevent the loss of as innocent lives as possible.
Sure, the people working for those latter branches might get into deep trouble sometimes whenever some jerk with a stone mask or a stand starts some shit, but, another thing jojo fans tend to conveniently forget is that those employees are working for the secret/non-public branches of the Foundation. We as audience know about them because we are let into seeing them working as part of the narrative, however, the public in general within the story DO NOT KNOW about the existence of those branches or what they do. Pillar men, stone masks, stands and the research around them are kept in secret in order to prevent any sorts of chaos and ensuing panic, among other safety reasons.
The people working for those branches are specialized or at least have some prior knowledge on those fields they work in (you'd think it is a MUST considering they are being let in on sensitive information that could be super detrimental for the planet and for humankind if it fell in the wrong hands), meaning that those employees already know and are fully aware of the kind of stuff they're going to deal with there from the start. They weren't deceived into it, and the fact that the employees remain loyal to Speedwagon from start to end and respect and follow his will, even long after his death, denotes that there was some deep and mutual respect and appreciation there, something you can't earn through exploitation, and definitely something these people wouldn't have done had Speedwagon been the heartless tyrant rich old man some people with a lack of media literacy want to believe and make others believe he was.
If people paid just a wee bit more attention to earlier Jojo parts, they would have realized it was all spelled out from the beginning too! Speedwagon expressly states from the very start his disgust and hatred towards the rich, being the Joestars the only exception to that due to them being genuinely kind persons, unlike most other wealthy people out there. He was also implied to have been dirt poor for most of his life and was also stated to have lived in the slums at least up to PB's main timeline. There were never any indications or signs that showed that he ever betrayed those roots of his by siding with the rich against the poor over the years. Instead, he's been using his funds to make the whole world a better place for everyone, not only by improving health care and access for all people as well as the environment (which would actually show a sense of duty from him as he is counteracting whatever negative impact his oil company may have had on the planet), but also providing all the aid he can against supernatural threats.
And not just that, but he's also kept some of his connections with the crime world over the years. However, rather than using those connections for selfish goals, he makes use of them to workaround the system in cases like Lisa Lisa's, where he used all those influences he had to help her go successfully into hiding after killing the zombie that murdered George (an undercover zombie that was actually a higher up within the army and who everyone believed to be a regular human, hence their chasing after her to make her pay for that "crime" she had supposedly committed). Additionally, if you know anything about big companies and organizations, you'll know that the law is also not always there to protect regular people, and sometimes, it will cater to the more profitable goals, as well as some businessmen actively being shady af and "hindering" their rivals for their own benefit. The Speedwagon Foundation being an organization that vouches and actively works for the wellbeing of people would have probably ruffled countless feathers among those who seek for a personal gain, to say the least (think of the hijackers that tried to kidnap him, as shown in the flashback in BT, i.e). This is also where those connections he keeps with criminals come into play, as there are never any mentions about Speedwagon doing shady stuff through them nor using them to pursue some personal goal, which hints at the fact that he keeps and uses those nexus as means of protection against actual enemies. Defense rather than offense, if you will.
Also, lets not forget that Speedwagon found his reason to change his ways when he met Jonathan, and that a lot of the things the Foundation does are things Jonathan himself would have gone into had he not passed away (the archaeological research, the deep studying of the stone mask -which eventually led to the discovery of the pillar men just in time before their awakening-, all in order to prevent more incidents like the whole thing with Dio from happening, and so on). It's downright silly to think Speedwagon would even think of betraying Jonathan and his memory by using not only the second chance he received from Jojo himself, but also using the literal monument Speedwagon built to honor the deep bond and mutual affection the two had back when Jonathan was alive for some selfish goal.
And also, lets not forget how disgusted he was with Dio and every single vile thing he did to everyone. Do you really think he would want to follow a path similar to his, in which people are just another step for him to walk all over?? If so, then you sure are completely wrong about who Speedwagon really is like.
Those "he became some nasty capitalist lol", pretending that Spw became some heartless and selfish wealthy man along the way for no reason, all despite the heaps of constant evidence the canon has presented, even long after Speedwagon's passing away in the story, that shows that that was never the case only go to show that people are lazy and that paying attention to the story and the details in it is just something some Jojo fans will actively refuse to do and then will make the worst bullshit takes up about it.
Also?? People do realize that it's possible to become rich and not be some piece of shit?? Like, sure, I do agree that most wealthy people irl ARE shit and scummy af, but there will always be a few exceptions, you just don't always see them because the real kind ones don't go around telling everyone about every single kind act they do, they just put their money to good use to make their own employees lives better, or invest/donate money every chance they get to some organization of their trust and so on. Adding to this, do you all even realize people can't just throw money out of the window and that as a business person you always need to keep some capital to actually make your business thrive and so you can continue helping other people out in this case where BIG SUMS of money are being put to use in favor of actual civilians and people from all walks of life??
((Edit to add yet another Very Obvious display that Speedwagon never sided with the rich, not even in his older years: Smokey Brown! The kid is literally a mirror of Speedwagon’s own younger self in that both were criminals from the streets in a large city (London in Spw’s case, NY in Smokey’s), immersed in crime and poverty and most likely having to resort to crime as a mean to survive in a society that was even more classist (and also racist, and this can actually be seen in BT when one of the mafiosos starts spewing shit towards Smokey due to his skin color) than it is nowadays, both having no known parents or family either and having been most likely orphaned/abandoned. Had Speedwagon been this nasty ass rich man, he could have simply ignored Smokey or treated him poorly, or could have even turned him to authorities, considering Smokey’s criminal record just for the sake of “preventing him from stealing from him” or whatever. There was literally nothing Spw could benefit himself from by keeping Smokey around like he did, which is a core trait in abusive/exploitative people. However, he never did any of that. Instead, and despite the reigning classism and racism at the time, Speedwagon along with Erina always embraced Smokey from the start and basically became his godparents, never letting the kid go back to his life in the streets, providing him with everything he needed and making sure he received a proper education, which was something very few people of color (black people, specially) could receive. And yet, Speedwagon and Erina made it happen, very likely using some of Spw’s influences to allow Smokey go to the school (and eventually college too) of his choice without any stigma or trouble at all and covering all expenses for him. -end of edit-))
If this was, idk, the Metal Gear series or some other media that revolves around the topic of politics, then the whole "cRaPiTaLisM!!! >:O" thing would have some weight and be plausible as it directly impacts the main plot of the story. But here?? In Jojo's?? Where the main focus as stated by it's author himself is the strength of the human spirit overcoming obstacles in the face of actual evil??? Try harder.
And, before I get That One Type of fans yelling at me that "people don't just get rich without exploiting people in real life!!"… do you guys realize we're talking about animanga series where vampires, funky stone masks with spooky powers, pillar men, stands, people who can use some ancient sunpowered martial art, plankton that can turn into a sentient person, and so on can happen, right? And yet I don't see anyone whining that "tHaT DoEsN'T hApPeN iRl!!".
And like, if this whole claim stems from disliking Speedwagon, just say you don't like him and move the fuck on. You don't need to try to justify your disliking for him or for ANY other characters, let alone making up wildly out of character bullshit about them to try to prove to yourself and to everyone else why according to you the character is "bad". I promise you it is not a big deal to simply not vibe with a character.

What kills me with these free speech people is they're ok with free speech being trampled when people say stuff they don't like. Like it's ok for Florida to ban books but God forbid people disassociate from you for being transphobic or saying the full blown n word with the hard er.
Err acshually is okay because the book had HARDCORE PORNOGRAPHY FOR TOODLERS(is a sex Ed book in a highschool)

When I say hoyo doesn't address sensitive topics (that they themselves introduced) I don't mean that they should verbalize them in the text (though it would be like.. the bare minimum if they're not willing to go into it at least). As in, having a scene with explicit in-game racism and acknowledge it by calling the situation or the character committing the aggression "racist". Very little of it could be misinterpreted as anything else, the audience recognized what they were watching easily. Pointing it out would reassure the audience that it is an intentional choice with a purpose if it has one, but hoyo didn't have any, so more like a cheap way to not engage with it any further. Yet they didn't even do that.
They don't need to necessarily solve it either, the writing would feel pretty disingenuous and immature if racism was solved in a day.
Actually, I think the way hoyo does it (solve these big issues) is pretty awkward? They skip the development and go straight into solution, and it creates a dissonance between the world building and the audience.
For example: the Wall of Samiel
We started the Sumeru chapter with the introduction of this wall as an element of marginalization between the forest and the desert, and we're shown later that Dehya even smuggled people in.
In that sense, the narrative owes it to the audience to explore this deeper before dropping the retcon of "Acshually, the wall was good all along" we get when it's revealed that Rukkhadevata created it to protect the forest.
This specific element in the story had a lot of connotations recognizable in the real world for the audience and implications within the world building one moment, and then the next it doesn't.
We should have gotten, like, at least a quest that explored the perspective of eremites regarding the wall. And if they wanted the retcon, they could have done it as well by having one of these characters struggle with the feelings caused as a consequence of oppression vs the original intention of the wall, and see them reach an emotional resolution that could frame the eremites into positive lights of forgiveness, resilience, etc.
(I mean, my preferred option would always be to break down the mf wall and give the characters validation for their anger, but we're working with "the wall was always good" here.)
We get something loosely similar to this through Rahman in the archon quest, where he confronts his resentment against the dendro archon with the new understanding that deshret and rukkha were never enemies, which makes the eremites' collective desire for revenge misplaced (where have I heard that one before lmao). But, see, it's not an empathetic narrative towards the eremites, it makes their anger meaningless and frivolous (where did I hear that one again).
When Dehya expresses her anger in the archon quest, it was one of the most interesting and promising bits of the world building. A wide range of fans liked this moment a lot and wanted to see more of it through Dehya, we're feeling this anger with her, especially people who relate to the allegory or abstract portrayal of what this wall symbolizes, but then we're just told it wasn't a big deal and the characters got over it already.
It feels like an unfulfilled promise from the writing. And the plot relied on this element of the story, on the marginalization that motivated the eremites to hope for deshret's return, so if they fail to deliver the development of these themes, it only looks like they used them as a prop for the main story. Like, the in-game racism of this chapter is just makeup to support the main storyline.
And obviously using minor themes in a story to do exactly that is normal but, like, not racism bitch. Especially not considering the racism that this chapter was built on, the colorism of the designs and the orientalism overall.
This is one the most distinctive (/neg) characteristics of genshin's writing, they do it all the time. It's fine most of the time, like having the parallel of Marie Antoinette be a loveable girl failure slash cunning god with a nice character development who we all sympathize with - not a big deal. It's not a sensitive issue, who cares. But racism or colonialism? if they don't have the freedom to explore that within the medium or whatever excuse there is, then just don't do it man. Did we really need to see those microaggressions against brown people if they were not going to be followed by anything else.

Screw it: Three of you liked my post, not feeling with drafts, bored at work and I'm in a Halcyon verse mood, so yeah. Content!
This does not reflect on anyone writing these characters (though it would be neat if those writing them adopt these).
Kar's dynamics within the Unreliable:
Hawthorne/The Stranger: Kar only briefly knew the real Alex, not enough to vibe, so it's a blank slate here. At first she's little cold and bitter towards them; Welles did promise to get her sister out of cryo, but as he was in a time crunch it was the Stranger's pod he revived instead. Once she works through that, they are on very good terms and become good friends and allies, especially in the days to come.
ADA: Kar and ADA are on good terms, inasmuch as a sentient astronagivator and an expert on synthetics and ships can be. It did not surprise Kar when she came aboard, given the level of intelligence of synthetics from home. ADA was always another part of the crew to her. She has quickly adapted to understand binary, and you can sometimes find Beedee in the captain's chair chatting away.
Parvati: Probably the first of the crew for her to be less business-like with. Given Kar's technical skills helped them colonize, it's safe to say engineering is their common ground. And of course, Beedee helps, being as cute as he is. Vati gets little sister-ed in her brain, and given Kar's known the Tennysons since before the jump, is more than happy to see both Junlei and Parvati happy. (It takes a bit for Parvati to realize the strange lady that saved the worker from being crushed by crates in Edgewater years ago and Kar are the same.)
Max Pre-Scylla: She hates him. He's a Board shill. She enjoys their conversations; he's the closet one to understand her constant internal conflict. She is torn with wanting to stick him in a jar and study him like an insect and beating the shit out of him whenever he opens his mouth. She wants to push every button to see what ticks. Kar and Max share witty barbs as much as they academically debate the nature of things. And likely once he even got floored by her in the cargo bay when they opted for fists instead of words. (You know Felix, Ellie, and Nyoka were straight up not missing this.)
Max Post-Scylla: I think things are certainly less antagonistic and respectful-- they're colleagues and friends now that he's experienced ego death. The-Vicar-but-not-quite and The-Jedi-but-not-quite. Now that's he's more opened up to listening, there's less hands being thrown. (At each other at least.)
Felix: Boy may not be the sharpest crayon on the tree, but Force guide and protect him. His heart (and persistence) caused her to warm towards him. Between him and Max she still doesn't have half a fucking clue what goes on in Tossball, but she tries. Teaches him a little hand-to-hand, whether or not it sticks is another thing. Has to try hard not to "uh acshually" the science in some of the aetherwave serials they watch together, but all in all, she's kinda his smarter older sister who he knows better not cross-- but still a good sparring buddy if she's down.
Ellie: As freelancers, the good doctor and Kar have crossed paths, but not enough for either to have any real rapport until the Unreliable. In a ship full of nosy neighbors, (and given Ellie's predisposition to keeping a distance) they both share respect and relief of someone minding their own business. They aren't besties, but they aren't on bad terms. There to share a drink and occasionally pick each other's brain on something, but that's really it. And for them, that's fine.
Nyoka: Nyoka and Kar already have established history before this, so she's the second of the crew for Kar to "warm up" to. Despite the Board blockade, Kar has managed to be a frequent visitor to Monarch; in particular to Amber heights. Nyoka first thought her crazy to go out in the wilds by herself, but after first hand seeing Kar handle herself...still thought she was crazy. For other reasons. Theirs is the mutual respect of survivors, hunters, if not friends. And it doesn't hurt Kar's more than willing to cover a drink (or five).
SAM: Kar would love to give SAM a little more sentience, but overall, he's a good, if misguided automech. Beedee can sometimes be found, taking a ride on his shoulders when Kar is otherwise occupied.

What do you think, what would have been Martín's reaction to the Andrés-Ariadna "relationship"? Like, I saw people saying that he would have been disgusted by the rape and wouldn't love Andrés anymore but I don't think this would have happened. And I mean, the story was probably all over the news in lcdp universe and he knows it and still loves Andrés, it wasn't even mentioned (yeah, i know it was just pina forgetting about the uncomfortable parts and a whole different question)
Disclaimer: For this answer, I need to be very clear that this is what I believe MARTIN believes, not what I personally believe. I think it's Wrong that Martin would think this, and even Worse that Andres did it. There is no excuse for either of them, they're shitty people and my opinion of their moral character is extremely low. (I trust that everyone here understands this, but you never know which stupid people are out there trying to put words in others' mouths asdfas)
The answer: I think anyone who actually thinks Martin would react that way is delusional, stupid, or so lost in their projection they've just divorced themselves from canon.
Like you said, there's no reason why he wouldn't know in canon? 1) it'd realistically be all over the news 2) Tokyo and Nairobi hated Martin's guts, there's no way they wouldn't not tell him about Ariadna (if he for some reason, didn't already know) to spare his feelings. So it's obvious to me that Martin knew and it didn't taint his image of Andres at all.
the "meta" outside-narrative reason is also (like you said) that at this point, the writers needed palermo to literally replace berlin + they decided to rehabilitate every single character from s3 onwards; by this logic, s3-5 Andres is meant to be seen as a different person anyway, innocent of everything he did in s1/2 (I hate this logic but this is how Pina's mind works apparently asdaasf)
As for my own opinion, Martin would react like your average reddit berlin fanboy "Andres did nothing wrong and it was all the victim's fault." And not even because of delusional love for Andres; even if Martin was a stranger to Andres, he'd still react this way. Martin is just that misogynistic, with a mindset almost exactly like Andres' ("she offered himself to him, nobody forced her to have sex, *insert every other explanation you've seen berlin worshippers throw on reddit*)
That said, I also believe Martin would be upset about the Ariadna incident. Because to him, Andres is once again wasting time with an empty pretty face. He'd be angry at Andres for again falling into old habits and failing to see how uninterested this woman truly is in him. (We don't talk about s5 vol.1 Martin on this blog asdasdf, but vol1!Martin would be morally disgusted, but it's also a moot point because s5!Andres is a great wonderful dude who would never have raped Ariadna in the first place...)
Back to the main answer- besides frustration and anger at Andres, Martin would also likely victim-blame Ariadna for leading Andres on, so acshually it's her fault for tricking Andres into breaking his own moral code. It's nasty, but I truly sincerely believe this is the most realistic reaction Martin would have. imo, for all we know Martin literally had this conversation with Nairobi off screen, and she just stopped debating with him because she realized this idiot is a hopeless misogynist.

I love following people who are watching The House Of The Dragon as someone who Does Not™ bc there's just SO MUCH DISCOURSE AND CONTENT going around and I have no idea who is who nor what the hell is going on but I'm building my own little series in my head with every silly little post I see. The blonde girl is trying to gain or keep the throne. She's an angsty sapphic lesbian and her angsty sapphic girlfriend is this one woman with brown wavy hair and their hug scene just MAKES ME CRAZY. Idk why they can't be together but Imma assume homophobia and stuff. I'm pretty sure they fucked each other's first love or husband or something and there's a massive post about how this is somehow related to their angsty sapphic relationship. There's a war between green and black and everyone is sure the writers are supporting the opposite team for some reason¿? There's a dude named Daemon and a dude named Aemond and absolutely nobody ever mentions they have literally the same fucking name so I spent a good while thinking they were the same person and people just couldn't agree on the way their name is written. Now in my head they're twins Idc. Aemond or Daemon was almost killed someone named Lucy-something and people are Mad About It™ but some others are like "Acshually Lucy tried to kill him first so 🤓"

The idea that Kanan was somehow rejecting the teachings of the Order by being in a relationship with Hera is just... A weird take. As is the idea that the Council or any other Master would have disapproved had they been alive to see it.
There's plenty of instances of Hera and Kanan showing they're both ready to protect innocent people or carry out important missions no matter what, and they both know how to go on without the other, and Kanan specifically asks Ezra to plan the mission to rescue Hera because he knows his own judgment is clouded by his emotions. That's not rejecting Jedi teachings, that's like Jedi 101 - How To Romance, Done Right. That just about screams 'I know love is both powerful and dangerous and I'm making sure I know when and how to let go, and especially let go of my need to control the situation.' If we were meant to think Kanan was angsting over his relationship, or was giving the """"attachment rule"""" the finger, you'd think that would have come up at any point, but it didn't. Kanan's issues with reconnecting with his past as a Jedi were fear and self-doubt, not 'I dOn'T thInk atTAchEmENt iS bAD AcsHUaLLy aNd tHe OrdER waS wROnG'
(Fear and self-doubt that he faces when he takes Ezra as his apprentice, which allows him to connect with Yoda in the Temple of Lothal as a Jedi, and be knighted for good as a Jedi. When he takes the very last steps in reclaiming his full identity as a member of the Jedi Order, as Caleb Dume, he still kisses Hera - because his relationship with her is in no way a rejection of his roots.)
But maybe he wasn't rejecting the old teachings but rather improving them? Because he understands how to balance romance and the Jedi way, and he could have had that even as a PT era Jedi because he just gets it, and the well-meaning but blind Order would have changed their rules after seeing the light? Like... No. The one reason why he can be in a committed relationship with Hera when he couldn't have had that as a Jedi living within the Order is so simple guys - there is no longer an Order to be essentially married to. Kanan is basically living Obi-Wan's year on the run as his whole life, but there's no Temple to come back to, and no Republic he's sworn his life to as a neutral diplomat/peacekeeper waiting for him. To push the metaphor to an outrageous degree, Kanan's fiancé died before the wedding and so he's free to remarry. There's no neutrality to uphold, there's no Republic missions to go on leaving his spouse behind, there's no longer hundreds of younglings to teach and take care of as a community, there's no longer a Temple to maintain, there are none of the duties of communal living. Kanan and Hera's relationship working so well isn't a gotcha to the Jedi who came before him, it's different circumstances.
But finally, the idea that the PT era Masters would either begrudge him the happiness or go "oh yeah, attachment is good actually, why didn't we ever consider it?" is dumb, big time. How do I know that? Because we do see a Jedi reacting to Kanan's new life - Yoda. And how does he react to Kanera? He doesn't. Because it's not the point of Kanan story and has never been, and if it was something that would have been a point of contention to him or any other Jedi, it'd have been presented as such, but it never was. Most Prequels Jedi we know would be happy that Kanan found a strong, supportive, loving partner to help him through all these years spent hiding and running, and it'd change diddly squat about the way the Order works.
Like, seriously, there's no need to 'question whether attachment is good' for a Jedi to be happy about Kanan and Hera - they aren't Anakin and Padmé. It's totally different circumstances, handled well.

That reminds me, a lot of dudes who "used to" be anti-feminist suddenly saying shit, like, "Actually, TERFs are smart and great females!". Meanwhile, they still post the "male feminists are secretly predator" comics and I'm here, like, "You know that you are one of them now?". It's also more sad that these people use to talk about "female rapists get away too easily," to "Acshually, the statistic about female rapists are a lie! It's mostly men in dresses making the number high!"
The whole BS anti sjw stuff makes me cringe so hard, especially because I used to be so into it as a teenager.
But guys like that are literally just contrarians, they only care about being opposed to *group* instead of actually caring about what they're saying. Sad and pathetic

i don't watch twd so i don't know the full context but i can't believe they're really redeeming the dude who viciously beat glenn's face in with a baseball bat/calling maggie a bitch for not forgiving him like are you KIDDING me
DON'T get me started on this
I mean okay, at least they're going for "you have to actually work for your redemption" instead of a character doing one (1) Good Action and promptly dying or getting easily accepted but he's just completely taken over the show. What infuriates me is that they keep engineering situations where he's 100% in the right and the mains come across as self-righteous hypocrites and it feels like the show is winking at you and going "ACSHUALLY he's making a VERY GOOD point". And I'm supposed to think that Maggie is being an unreasonable bitch for hating his guts when HE BEAT HER HUSBAND'S HEAD INTO A BLOODY PULP? Or Daryl, who was blamed by Negan for Glenn's death and tortured and literally KEPT AS A SLAVE AND PARADED LIKE A DOG and yet he was still willing to work with him when he had to and even saved his life? I'm supposed to think he's just being an asshole for making it clear that they will never be buddies no matter how many children and puppies he saves? Fuck that.
Also, the show keeps acting like killing Glenn was the only shit he did, ignoring all the communities his group slaughtered or the rape harem he kept or that he was seconds away from murdering Carl, a teenage boy, while insisting that he would NEVER kill children. /Rant
I like JDM and he can be fun to watch at times but this is getting exhausting.

Aah could please go into more detail? I just know I’ll be able to understand it better like that uk if someone spoon fed it to me 😊 ty
oh I am more than happy to 😂😂
I'm gonna put this under Read More cus I went. off my shits. but here's some funky art nerd shit about 1. different color wheels, 2. primary, secondary and tertiary colors, 3. mixing colors/paints, 4. color schemes and 5. contrast
I just want to make it explicitly clear that this is something I’ve been interested in since I was a kid and you don’t need to know all this to be able to paint 😂😂 this is 100% just me infodumping rather than “things to know before you’re allowed to pick up a paint brush”
1. color wheels
there are 3 different color wheels depending on the medium you work on. I'm gonna focus on the traditional RYB color wheel here, but I’m mentioning the others mostly because there's some absolutely dumbass arguments about RYB not being the "real primary colors" (saying CMY are the "real ones"), so just in case you ever run into anyone trying to WeLl AcShUaLlY at you, you'll know they're full of shit, it depends on the situation & you can just fling them into the sun.
red-yellow-blue (RYB) - the one that we all get taught as kids. this is used in traditional painting and pigments when black and white are also available color options.
red-green-blue (RGB) - the color wheel of light. this is used on digital painting and screens. things that don't actually contain pigment, but rely on light and the way our eyes perceive it.
cyan-yellow-magenta (CMY) color wheel is for printing only. if you're working on something that will be printed out, you will want to consider this one, as white printing ink is not an option.
2. primary, secondary and tertiary colors
Tumblr media
I'm using an RYB wheel for reference here, but the terms apply similarly to the other ones too.
primary colors - I bet you already know this. these are the 3 that the color wheel is named after - in the example above, it's red, yellow and blue, just like we've all been taught as a kid.
secondary colors - the "inbetween" ones. I'm sure you've been taught these too. it's whatever you get when you mix 2 primary colors. on an RYB color wheel they're orange, green and purple.
tertiary colors - this one you might not have heard about, but as you can tell from the color wheel, it's not complicated at all - it's what you get when you mix the primary and the secondary colors next to each other, and while there’s obvs fancy names for every color in the world, you can just call it the mashup of the colors that it is. the reason these ones are important is because they help you find warm and cool tones of the colors - for example, a yellow-green could also be considered a warm toned green, or a cold toned yellow. (if you’re still lost on cool and warm colors; red, orange and yellow are warm. green, blue and purple are cold. you can get a cool toned warm color by adding a hint of it’s closest cool color and vice versa.)
as you can guess, you could make the color wheel more detailed - after all there’s hundreds of hues in the world. if you mix a yellow-orange and yellow, you will get a tone that fits between them. but these 3 levels will get you pretty far.
3. mixing colors
funky terms I'm gonna talk about:
complementary colors - the opposite colors on a color wheel. red-green, blue-orange, yellow-purple are each others complementaries. they have the strongest contrast, and mixing them makes a neutral tone.
hue - basically, the color. all colors fit in one of 7 categories - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, and "neutral tones" aka brown and grey.
value - the brightness. where on the black-white scale does the color fit. is it dark or light color. this is what is left if you turn a photo into greyscale - which is why a lot of artists often see value as a more important aspect that the hue you're painting with.
saturation - the intensity of the color. if you mess around in a photo editing software and find a saturation slider, you'll find that maxing it out makes the photo look like an Andy Warhol painting, while minimizing it turns the photo into greyscale. basically how much color pigment there is.
when mixing paints, you want to know what value and saturation you're looking for, because the more different paints you add, the lower the saturation gets. if you're looking for a highly saturated, dark value color (for example, intense dark purple), you're better off mixing two dark value colors (dark red and dark blue), than two low value colors (light red and light blue) and black. sure you will get a dark purple, but a less saturated one. that being said, less saturated is far from atomatically meaning worse, so when you’re looking for less saturated color for a background or enviromental painting, adding black, white, grey or the completentary color of whatever you're working with will bring the saturation down.
4. color schemes
Tumblr media
when picking what colors to use in your painting, there are few popular color schemes that work well together. this is where your own personal taste gets to take the lead - if you want to paint with extreme contrasts, the complementary color scheme works well. if you want more harmonous colors that do not clash with each other quite so harshly, the analogous one could work together. Split complement is also always a nice one to consider if you need a very specific highlight for your work, and multiple colors for a background.
most important thing to remember, however, is that these are guidelines. you can have literally any color you want in your work. these schemes help you pick the hues you’re working with, but with correct values and saturation, you can use literally anything you want.
5. contrast
so like, this is what it all comes down to, right? when you want something in your painting to stand out, you need it to have contrast to it’s surroundings. and this is where it gets fun.
you can create contrast by using hues that complement each other, like shown in the color scheme examples above.
you can create it by playing with the values - tho make sure you know where the light source in your painting is. darker values for shadows, lighter ones for highlights. remember however, that adding black and white messes with the saturation of your colors.
you can mess with the saturation on purpose too, especially if you’re painting landscapes or something. a brightly saturated flower stands out a lot better if the saturation of the field behind it is low.
and last but not least, you can create contrast by using cool tones for your highlights, and warm tones for your shadows, or vice versa. this is a tip I read in an art book, and the artist that contributed stated that this is the only thing he sticks to as a rule and not just as a guideline. and this is where the tertiary colors are helpful - when you decide to paint a red flower, instead of painting your shadows by adding black, which kills your saturation, add a cooler toned (purplish) red intead.
so.
this most of the shit I have to say in terms of colors in art and painting. which is to say, it’s only a tiny part of the process of making art, and does not account for lighting, composition, perspectives, depth or textures. that being said, and I can not stress this enough - absolutely none of it matters if you’re not enjoying it. I can write this whole ass essay because I find it fun and interesting. but this is like. actual art hoe shit. I didn’t learn this in a day, or a month, or even a year. in fact this has been... about 15 years of digging around and collecting bits and pieces of info here and there when I don’t actually have a proper art education. so if you’ve just started painting, don’t get overwhelmed cus I’m dumping this on you. you don’t need to know any of this. to make art, you just have to enjoy the process. cause at the end of the day art is about creating something and having fun with it, and I don’t want to scare anyone off from creating just cause I cant shut up 😂😂
