I have a simple fascination and joy in the thought that, for the Ghost King AU, most of the time Danny is literally so normal compared to other ghosts.

Like, he’s a kid. He looks like a kid. Going by canon appearances, he is the most human looking ghost we see (aside from Ellie). Even Plasmius is more inhuman, which is where all the vampire jokes come from. Every single one of this enemies is off even in a human disguise. They’re not human, and people don’t expect them to be.

So aside from the implications of Danny looking like a child ghost, I wonder what other characters would think if they summon the Ghost King, expecting this huge monstrosity worse than anything they’ve ever seen, and getting a totally normal human-looking kid.

I’d be terrified. Because if horror movies have taught us anything, it’s that the most innocent and normal looking people are the worst monsters you’ve ever seen.

Parading Meleys’ head through King’s Landing streets was indeed stupid, because while it was thought by Cole as a way to showcase the Blacks’ weaknesses, it made the smallfolk think that dragons « are just meat » which in the end will turn against the Greens as well. After all, their dragons are just meat too.

BUT that’s why I think Jacaerys and Rhaenyra decision to look for Dragonriders who are not « pureblood » Targaryens is a terrible idea (if they succeed) in terms of reaffirming their strength. The fact that the Targaryens are the only ones able to tame and ride such creatures is why they are both feared and admired. As Targaryens they are « closer to gods than men » mostly thanks to their dragons. Sure, having more Dragonriders will make them look stronger, but only for a while.

Daemon himself said « If the King isn’t feared, he is powerless. If you are to be a strong queen, you must cultivate love and respect, yes, but your subjects must fear you. ». Perhaps he wasn’t wrong.

The realm will come to the realization that 1. Dragons can be defeated and 2. Dragons can be ridden by other houses as long as they have a drop of Targaryen blood in them.

That would make both the Blacks and the Greens appear weaker. Entitled. Cruel even because the smallfolk and the others houses suffer from this intestine nonsensical war. But should they really fear them, if their dragons are just meat and others can ride them ? Meleys’ parade and the dragonriders search might even eventually lead to the storming of the Dragonpit.

In the end, the Blacks and the Greens come from the same (family) tree. They’re two sides of the same coin. Whatever they do to tarnish and undermine the other side will ultimately fire back. No side can prevail, either they all win, which is impossible or they all lose, which is inevitable.

I love how every single time, without fail, that I have a random thought about a cool show I watched on Netflix where I’m like “Oh yeah, I remember that show. It was pretty good. When’s the next season coming out?” and the answer every single time is: “It was cancelled.”

I just found out The Irregulars isn’t getting a season 2, despite season 1 having done pretty well. Probably old news for most, but it just popped into my head and I’m like let me look it up. CUE MY COMPLETE LACK OF SURPRISE to find out it was cancelled.

Netflix really is the fucking worst streaming platform, bar none. So far both Hulu and Amazon have only cancelled one show that I liked, whereas Netflix has cancelled like twenty at least by now. I have zero interest in getting involved in anything that isn’t a guaranteed hit or a one-off because they’re just gonna cancel it.
