I got to see Cirque du Soleil’s Koozå and was immediately infected with brain worms because the Trickster is just SO cool. I’ve thought about nothing but them for like an entire week

not to bring tiktok drama on tumblr but like every time a ‘scandal’ comes out with one of these ‘production companies’ that make fan films i always hope we’re finally gonna discuss how they professionalize something that should be an hobbyist endeavor… and yet every single time i’m disappointed.
#like I know we’ve been talking about it here on tumblr and i remember seeing like one or two videos on tt about it#but other than that creators really don’t seem to be engaging critically with the impact that the very nature of what they’re doing has#and look i truly do love the art that some of the people involved in the project make#like arone is truly one of the most talented cosplayers i know#ethan is an amazing actor and I’ve followed him since before he was even in the marauders#dorian is a great writer and idk the others as well but I’m sure they are all great artists#((naming the just cause i feel like being vague would be worse in this case))#and i do believe they engaged with the project with the best of intentions#without knowing or trying to afford grace on past controversy#and it truly is a horrible predicament to have your work be tainted like that for something you had no control over#but like i do think we should be questioning the very idea of how this fanfilms have been made is inherently a problem#like fanfilms are essentially fanfiction on camera#so as long as a few cosplayers want to get together with their iphones write a script and shoot at the local park I don’t have a problem#but if you are putting in place a product that somehow requires you to fundraise consistently for two years then I have a problem with it#ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE SELLING THE SCRIPT TO DO SO#cause even if that script hadn’t been ai generated#that script is fanfiction and you do. not. sell. fanfiction.#seriously like… do we need to go over our abc again?#like fanart and cosplayers are a bit different in the sense that people sell fanart/do commissions and they can be professional cosplayers#but for any other fanmade project that requires you to put pen to paper (or keyboard to chatgpt ig)#you need to be engaging with several ethical questions regarding any exchange of money#and personally i don’t think that there’s been engagement with those ethical reflections#and this isn’t about any of the people involved and not even about mischief productions specifically#it’s about a wider issue in how we have been collectively normalizing a way of doing things that should not be normal#and like yes star using ai and being overall not good is bad but like can we talk about EVERYTHING ELSE please

Guys idk if this is like a red flag or what but I actually unironically think I love the genre of theater that is off-broadway political parodies bc I just saw Ghost of John McCain today and I just had fun
Like off broadway political parodies give me this escape from the theatrics of real politics and gov. while still often providing thought provoking messages when looking a little deeper into it
Because political parodies don’t take themselves seriously and they’re fun but they also oftentimes have a moment or two in them that is a sudden switch and idk I just really like Off Broadway political parodies and I think they work specifically better in Off Broadway settings rather than Broadway bc the smaller venues add to intimacy and really take up the whole space

I hope they had intimacy coordinator for bdsm. Even if suppose a real couple is playing in a series intimacy coordinator is a must. Fk I know tend to be very unconventional while doing intimate scenes (even barring the best friends part which good for them cause the trust they have with each other is immense ..they have said some unhinged stuff about what they do to make the nc scene work lmao) but they should be guided a bit. I have always liked their improvisation like the smoke kiss and music room kiss and even our skyy too cause they really do know their characters but that doesn't necessarily take away the need for intimacy coordinator especially when they are venturing into unknown territories
exactly! like, even in a hypothetical situation in which first and khaotung are 1) actually dating and 2) actually have any sort of bdsm dynamic within their relationship, there should STILL be an intimacy coordinator to aid them. because even IF they had those dynamics irl - these characters are. not. them. the dynamic between kant and bison is going to be different regardless and they should not be left to just figure it out for themselves. and like i’m glad that first and khaotung are close and comfortable with one another, but that does not negate the need for an intimacy coordinator.
and i speak from personal experience here! the one and only time i have ever kissed anyone on stage it was my best friend - my very own khaotung whom i’ve kissed plenty of times for funsies outside of on stage. AND our kiss was only a light peck! and yet, despite both these things, we were still recommended to use an intimacy coordinator. and like, sure, we can argue about how necessary that was, but personally i think it was very helpful. so, yes, even if first and khaotung tie each other down on the reg for fun, there should still be someone guiding them for those intense scenes.
and i’ve said it before, but that doesn’t mean they can’t have a say in how the scene goes or have input or even have some amount of improv, but we should not reward the idea that they were left to their own devices to figure out how to do these intense scenes. it is not a good thing, no matter how happy it makes you thinking that khaotung just wanted to bite first’s lip or whatever.

ok lemme just say that i love the fact that '87 shredder and krang are just kinda weird little guys. like omg......a ninja and an alien....and they're trying to take over the world.....there's something so neurodivergent and queer about them.....they are so immensely squishable.......
idk if this made sense AHAH
Unironically 87 Shredder and Krang are some of my all time favourite TMNT characters I love those weird little dysfunctional freaks so much. No one else has done it like them since 💔

Smosh’s decision to make Sword AF audio-only because of budget and views (which it most likely is) is so immensely irritating to me because it just reeks of Corporation being Corporation. Smosh uploads daily, they take sponsorships, they consistently get 500k+ views across channels. They got pretty damn high viewership for s1 - especially for a Dnd show. The cast meeting up with Dnd experts after s1 etc. is only indicative of their interest in the project and it just really feels like they compromised on not completely axing it. You’d think as an independent company they’d allow more creative freedom than they do.

Drakengard 3’s english cast is so funny to me because it’s just an endless stream of “wait that’s Sakura from naruto. That’s Sasuke from naruto. That’s Gaara from naruto. That’s shizune from naruto”

I’d love to hear your thoughts on possible positive representations of fatness in media. I’ve always dreamed about a queer romance with a fat lead actor
Yes!!! I hope we can get that kind of energy going big time, and shake up perceptions of what a beautiful “Hollywood” body can be!
See, the reason we don’t see a lot of authentically fat positive media is pretty much homousian; of the same stuff as the reasons why we need and preach fat politics in the first place. The same reasons we need more fat positivity in day-to-day life can (and should!!!) be just as easily transmitted to a medium like film and television. Not much I can add to that conversation that pretty much any of the recommended fat politics books and reading materials can explain better.
Where I’m interested in contributing comes from a strictly visual sense. While i’m pretty well-versed in pretty much any aspect of a production, i’m a visual person at heart, so my main interests go in the realm of cinematography and deliberate shot composition. And what i’ve found through that avenue is that because Hollywood on the whole never had a positive opinion towards fat people and fatness, cinematography and film language as concepts pretty much evolved to the present day never really figuring out how to make fat people look good.
So my natural question sort of became, well if a good writer can fix that problem by writing a fat-positive script, or if a good producer can help fix the issue by saying no to elaborate fat suits and find an actor already that size, what can the cinematographer do to make fatness look good, when 100+ years of filmmaking has only ever made it out to be ugly or lesser?
A good cinematographer, in collaboration with a good editor and a good director, can make you fall in love with what they’re showing you. I love fatness. I love fat people. And i wanna find a way to communicate my love for you all through this art form.
Good question!
