one thing i love is how shi qingxuan and xie lian are just buddies? the book is full of all kinds of complicated relationship dynamics and traumatic backstories, but xie lian meets shi qingxuan after his third ascension and they have zero history together and they just get along? they talk comfortably and they look out for each other and they are on the same bitchy wavelength? they don’t get a lot of time to bond and get close but its clear that in time they could? sometimes you just meet someone you vibe with and they’re your friend it’s not that deep and you know what it makes me so happy to think about!!!

The more I think of Tamka and Erevu’s relationship, the cuter it is

First off, the smart woman x dumb guy is one of my favorite couple tropes. It’s the perfect mix of comedic and adorable. Comedic cuz of the dumbass’s antics but adorable cuz you know they’re still there for each other

In crocodile standards, Erevu’s attractive in every way: beautiful, mature, graceful, nice voice, good fighter, and most importantly, intelligent. Everytime she walks, she gets a group of males (and lesbians) staring at her.

And she falls in love with the dumbest, most imperfect crocodile she has ever met.

She obviously doesn’t expect to. Hell, her original dream mate (though she’s perfectly capable of being happy without one) would be strong and intelligent since in her words “it’s the only way to survive”, only for her pupils to dilate at Tamka making a fool out of himself hfhghf

Yet Tamka’s the only one who really understood first hand how she felt about being seen for more than her beauty cuz he values brains more than anything else. Not only that, but he helps Erevu to take it easy once in a while and have a bit of fun, which she didn’t know she needed until she took a little ride on his back. It’s actually how she started to fall for him (he was already crushing on her). He’s a complete moron, but he’s super sweet and he’s the only one she can really be herself around other than her best friends

Just thinking about how Tamka looks at Erevu when she’s around with a stupid lovestruck grin on his face while Erevu sometimes chuckles at Tamka’s antics. Like they genuinely love each other with all their hearts 😭
