Giving me faith supporting my delusions about this show.
Tumblr media
Important information. The film they watched at the hotel is You've Got Mail, this is Sam and Rebecca's story. When they messaged each other not knowing who the other person was. Ted said Sleepless in Seattle was far superior. This is the one where airports play a significant part and it's about a man who lost his wife and has a son finding love with the woman he never knew would be the one.
Edit: Also Rebecca mentioning she has a private jet and the thing with airports; SUSP A HELL.
Edit Edit: Keeley assumed the moment Rebecca spent with Dutch Guy was "Magical" This is also a quote from Sleepless in Seattle. Turns out it was Gezellig instead. But this is definitely where we're going. And That'll either be with Dutch Guy or Ted. Both fit the man who lost their partner and have a kid formula. Definitely not Sam. But Ted has the matchbook, loves Kenny Rogers, bakes the biscuits who are home to her, she carries his army man everywhere she goes. She hasn't been struck by lightning yet which to me means it's not Dutch Guy; Ted is leaving which means her world is about to be turned upside down. I keep the faith. i don't care.
AND there's a tear in Meg Ryan's wedding dress and she says oh no it's a sign to which her mum says "You don't believe in signs!" All the signs have been pointing to different people except the obvious one!
I might be setting myself up for disappointment but the writers are building every step up to the cliff egde, baby!
Thank you for coming to my Ted Lasso Talk

I have been Processing My Feelings mostly through sleeping a lot (thanks, shark week), cleaning (so much stuff to be done, especially when you're on a budget so everything takes twice as much work), playing Pokemon Go (I SAW AN ARTICUNO, but it fled on me ): but that's okay, I know it only has like a 3% chance to get it, and if I saw one, maybe I'll see another sometime), and binging TV shows/YouTube videos. TV SHOWS THAT I HAVE HAD THOUGHTS ON: - FROM, season 3: I think it might have been a mistake to watch it week to week, because I've watched seven episodes now and it feels like hardly anything has happened this season, like, you only have ten episodes and the wait between seasons is so long! Get back to moving the plot forward! But a lot of people said the same thing about s2 and I found that one to move along great--but I binged the whole thing, so the pacing probably seemed better. I'm still invested, some emotional stuff has happened this season, but I want more answers/plot already!!!! - SHRINKING, season 2: Just as much of a comfort watch as the first season, still pulling a bunch of laughs out of me. The cast is incredible, the writing is funny (I'm a sucker for a Bill Lawrence show, though), and I have had genuine emotional reactions to some of the storylines this season, because I have come to care about the characters. It can be a light watch most of the time, one to put on when I want something to laugh at, but it can pack a punch in the way it needs to. - ENGLISH TEACHER: I think every episode got me to laugh at least once, most of them got me to laugh out loud multiple times. Some people are going to find it kind of preachy or tryhard, but I felt like it was trying to take an honest look at this one person's attempts to navigate the difficult societal elements at play (being gay in your 30s, no longer a kid, not a boomer, but not always seeing eye-to-eye with where the younger generation is, wanting to do the right thing versus not always knowing what that is, trying to be empathetic while being genuine, etc.), and if nothing else it got me with the sideswipe at Tumblr. That hurt, you guys, but also LOL. - 9-1-1, season 8: Still very much worth watching (especially every time Eddie is a hot mess and kind of a bitch, I've never loved him more), but I did not enjoy the Councilwoman Ortiz storyline (it felt more mean-spirited than I wanted) and I'm not looking forward to catching up on this week's episode (I've heard some of what happens), but overall, it's still a comfort place for batshit storylines. BEENADO WAS HILARIOUS, everything about Athena on the plane was fun (and less frustrating than her usual cop storylines, I love you, girl, but oh my god), and I even liked the Gerrard storyline by the end. Next to catch up on: Abbot Elementary, binge Squid Game s2 when it comes out, and finally watch The Devil Judge. (Watch, I'll have my schedule all planned out and then probably throw it out the window for Grotesquerie or something, SIGH.) Any other suggestions for comfort shows or just really bingeable recent shows or just tell me what you're watching, so that I can keep my brain off the doomscrolling track!

I don't necessarily want to be too hard on Sudeikis because like, I've never written a tv show, but at the same time I will be because I don't think he had the skill level to lead the 3rd season on his own the way he did, and it shows. I Know the show is called Ted Lasso but it honestly felt like he was too wrapped up in providing himself with moments to shine that he forgot about wrapping up huge plot points for other characters and for some reason decided their time was better spent wasted on weird side plots. If I was a suspicious person, I'd honestly say that it felt like he was sabotaging other actors by either turning them into one dimensional cut outs of themselves with no depth (Roy), dropping huge issues for the character and then completely washing over them, and also forcing a highly emotional moment by a great actor to be a farce (Jamie), or neglecting any actual potential character development and sacrificing a well developed character for a cheap shot at "yas girl boss" (Keeley)
hmm i know a lot of people blame the bad pacing and super long episodes on Bill Lawrence's departure and Jason's lack of show-running knowledge. I'm not saying he didn't make the problem worse in s3, but to be fair I think that was already well underway as a problem in s2 (when i think Lawrence was still involved?), so I don't really blame him alone. The pacing was only tight and great in the first season and then it went downhill from there.
As for the character stuff...I disagree that Sudeikis was only concerned with writing himself moments to shine (and if it’s true he did a terrible job of it lmao), because imo Ted's character is just as much of a sloppily-written mess in s3 as the rest of them (and also I think Ted's plot was less central in s3 than it was in s2 especially). Apart from the scene with Ted and his mom at the end of Mom City and maybe his season finale locker room speech, I can't really think of any scenes that are standout in terms of really emphasizing Jason's acting range/serving as award-fodder.
I also strongly disagree that he was intentionally sabotaging his fellow actors by giving them bad plots LOL. Actually I think it was quite the opposite, in that he was extremely focused on giving each of the others a “highlight reel" episode to present to the Emmys committee. Like, you can look at the season and immediately pick out which episode was written for each emmy submission (Paris is Juno's episode, Chelsea is Brett's episode [still shocked he didn't submit it tbh], International Break is Hannah's episode, etc.) Like, Mom City was clearly written with Phil winning his emmy at the forefront of the writer's room minds, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. heck, that's my favorite episode of the season! (side note that I agree with you that Jason is to blame for THAT jamie boot room scene though because like wow was that bad directing, and the bts video shows he was the one telling Phil to play it like that lmao). But i do think the segmented structure of the episodes probably did contribute to the pacing problems and the lack of cohesiveness in the season as a whole.
(I also don’t think Roy was one-dimensional in s3 🫢. Apart from a few things that didn't quite land for me, I really liked where they took Roy's arc this season on the whole. IMO they gave him more depth by really diving into his insecurities, showing him as a leader with Isaac, learning to be a friend to Jamie, coming into his own as a coach and a person, going to therapy and becoming manager. And his ending was ultimately satisfying for me).
ANYWAY, in my opinion Jason's biggest crime was being so rigidly committed to the three season vision of the show he dreamt up in the beginning, even when the show and plots had gotten too big for that original vision to contain. Season 3 could have been separated into two seasons easily and it would have given them the time they desperately needed to address many of the characters and relationships in a much better and holistic way, as well as dedicate more time to thoughtful endings for all of the main plots. Instead they tried to do way too much with way too little space. And also gave a weird amount of screen time to pointless characters (cough Zava cough Shandy...)

the biggest thing that happened with ted lasso s3 was bill lawrence not being involved with the show anymore. he had a big presence throughout s1, and slowly started to leave things to jason sudeikis (and sudeikis was apparently kinda like yeah i got this from now on) and in s3 he wasn’t involved at all. this is like a quote from bill lawrence himself.
there were also rumours of a rewrite and it’s obviously not confirmed but i kinda believe it because of the delay and because of how some plots feel so disconnected. there must have been issues in the writers room too (not saying like a fight or anything but just not seeing the same vision etc.)
Aaah interesting. Definitely sounds like the key problem then. Not even necessarily that this show only worked with Bill Lawrence onboard (I don't really know his other work so can't judge) but anytime you have someone heavily involved leave a project, it tends to shake things up.
The minute I see something is delayed, my first guess is that rewrites are involved. And the disconnected plots absolutely feel like rewrite issues - if you're changing a bunch of character's storylines, then they're not all going to gel cohesively like they would if they were all written to go together from the get-go.
ALSO, I already said it, but using the Soccer Saturday sections to reveal big plot points like Nate quitting HAS to be reshoots. It's an incredibly cheap and fast way to quickly change a plot point, because you only need 4 actors and one simple set.
My biggest guesses - and we will probably never know for sure - is either different, competing visions in the writer's room or studio interference. (Always, always a possibility.)
And the unfortunate thing is even with a delay to adjust...if big stuff had to get shuffled around, chances are they still didn't have the time they needed to make those changes work. Such is the nature of this industry, unfortunately. AND delays cause issues with actor's schedules, bc if you push then suddenly production is running into other commitments they have, and people have told me that various actors had scheduling conflicts this season. (Supposedly Juno and Toheeb - which. Yeah. That definitely tracks.)
But yeah - definitely rewrites, possibly reshoots, possibly conflicting ideas in the room even from the get-go, then delays causing scheduling conflicts and possibly more production issues.
Unfortunately it really just kind of feels like it needed like one or two more passes in editing (script, not final edit) because the Big Ideas are all in place and the general idea of the A point and B point of Richmond and most of the characters - it's just the getting from one point to the next that needed fixing.
Thanks for the info! Interesting to know!

Better Than Fantasy
Square/s filled: sex against the wall @spnaubingo / mutual pining @anyfandomgoesbingo / mutual pining @anyfandomfluffbingo
Pairing: Dean x Female!Reader
Word count: 4,000
Summary: Y/N moves in with Dean, and finds herself in a dilemma when she can't stop fantasizing about all the things she wants him to do to her. She has no idea that Dean has a few fantasies of his own.
Warning: slight angst, fluff, mutual pining, swearing, smut: dirty talk, masturbation (male and female), voyeurism, vaginal fingering, unprotected sex (wrap it up people)
A/N: This is also written for @supernatural-jackles Tell Me A Story Bingo, square filled: Roommates. Had a bit of fun with the roommate trope. Happy reading and enjoy! :)
Tumblr media
Y/N was right in thinking that living with Dean would be absolute torture. Dean should’ve sworn on his love for pie before ever agreeing to her being his roommate.
They had known each other well enough for her to live with him, an old friend of Sam’s from college who needed a place to stay once she got to Lawrence. Considering Sam and Jess had started a family, they didn’t have the room and didn’t want her to sleep on a couch for an indefinite amount of time. Y/N didn’t really know their extended group of friends yet so of course, that left the only option of living with Dean.
At first, it was easy. They fell into a steady rhythm of one person handling the cooking and one person handling the cleaning, and alternating every few days. The rent was an easy and clear divide between them, which didn’t leave either of them struggling with the rest of the bills, so it was a good fit.
Everything was fine… and then it happened. She got real comfortable in his apartment, real fast. She spent the first few weeks wearing pants around him all the time, and once she felt more at ease, it was oversized shirts and nothing else. She was all legs and smooth skin, and he found himself unable to be around her. Not for any other reason than he couldn’t come on to her and risk losing her as a roommate and friend. Yet he couldn’t help but think about her legs wrapped around him, her soft moans in his ear as he ravaged her, in his dreams late at night, with his hand being the only thing to bring him some relief from the frustration.
So, if she could stop being so damn perfect in every aspect that would be fucking great.
But it wasn’t exactly simple for her either. He had a fondness for no shirts in the morning, his sculpted back and nice, firm ass covered in boxers were her first sight as soon as she left her room every day, his hair sticking up in different directions as he made her coffee and handed it over to her. She would be the first to admit that a perky tush on a man was her favorite thing, but the lines and muscles of his back had her reconsidering that. She wanted nothing more than to dig her nails into it, squeezing his muscles in her hands as he pounded deep into her.
She really needed him to stop looking so goddamn attractive with his rough timbre and beautiful green orbs, his beaming smirk and his all-around amazing personality.

Always And Forever
Square/s Filled: Breeding Kink - @spnkinkbingo
Rating: Explicit
Pairing: Jensen Ackles x Female!Reader
Word count: 3,577
Summary: Y/N and Jensen had seen each other in a lot of different outfits or costumes over the years, but wedding attire sure hits different.
Warnings: Fluff, swearing, smut: dirty talk, vaginal fingering oral sex (female receiving), breeding kink, unprotected sex (wrap it up people)
A/N: This is the last part to my series, Switching Roles. This was born from something that was just meant to be a one shot, but clearly into was meant to spiral into five more parts. I have to shout out my girl @writercole, because this little series wouldn't have been possible without her. Everyone say thank you Cole! Beta’d by my darling @downanddirtydean. As always, happy reading and enjoy!

Several months passed before either Y/N or Jensen made any decisions about their upcoming wedding. He had been so busy with getting all his projects in order, the last few filming days of The Boys, and she had just as much on her plate, picking up several jobs for photoshoots and even picking up a few writing jobs. Once they finally managed to come up for air long enough to see each other and have more than a few days together, they decided to start planning how they wanted things to happen on their special day.
They realized pretty fast that they didn’t want an enormous wedding, but they still wanted to celebrate with their family and friends. Deciding very quickly that having the wedding at the house allowed them to still have an intimate ceremony, but also have everyone they loved present.
Y/N got ready at the house while Jensen was at Jared’s, the only tradition they really stuck to, wanting to keep some element of surprise between them. She was glad she had hired someone to organize everything, knowing that she didn’t have the time with a busy schedule to do it herself, and that everything had gone smoothly. She peeked through the curtains to see the backyard, her smile widening as she saw how perfect it all looked.
“Just a couple more hours to go,” her mom stated behind her, causing her to turn around.
“I know,” Y/N sighed, biting her lip as she sat down at the edge of her bed, running her fingers over her dress. It was a long sleeved, shimmer fabric with a long flowing skirt and a deep cut in the back. “I just want to see Jensen, just finally be married.”
“I can’t believe we’re finally here,” Sarah muttered, smiling brightly. “I guess y’all officially owe me.”
Y/N beamed, knowing how true that was. They really did owe her, because if she hadn’t been working on Supernatural, then she never would’ve introduced Y/N to Jensen, and they wouldn’t be getting married in a little under two hours.
“Okay,” Y/N stood up, looking down at her dress with a soft smile on her face, “let’s do this.”
She had her make-up and hair done within the hour; her strands pulled up into a delicate bun with loose locks framing her face. As time ticked away and got closer to the ceremony, she let out a sigh of relief as she slipped into her dress. A wave of emotions washed over her as she realized it wasn’t too much longer until she could call Jensen her husband and she wanted nothing more than to get to that moment. She couldn’t wait to see him, because 24 hours without him by her side was the most that she could handle.
After a few photos with her parents and Sarah, Y/N stepped out to the backyard, taking in the lanterns hanging from the trees, the rose arch for the ceremony, the few tables that were set up for the food, along with white and pink roses and candles for decoration. Everything had come together better than she had expected, and she was relieved that any problems they had were during the planning, not on the day of their wedding itself.
Sarah came to whisk her away as the time of the ceremony approached, both of them hiding in the pool room that led to the yard as they watched the guests coming in and taking their seats in front of the arch. Y/N saw Jared walking towards the front, causing to quickly turn away as she had no doubt Jensen was with him; she wanted the first time she saw him in the past few hours to be as she walked down the aisle. Soon, the music started, and Sarah hugged her tight, walking out first. Y/N took a deep breath as she walked out, her heart beat steady and strong.
She smiled softly at some of the guests as she walked past them, and she reached the end of the aisle and her eyes finally met Jensen’s, she beamed. He looked immaculate in his tux, his grin as bright as hers as he reached for her hand. They had seen each other in several different outfits over the years, a few costumes thanks to Supernatural and The Boys, and even she had dressed up for him a couple of times, but none of that compared to the vision of her in her dress, walking towards him, and she felt the same about him in his suit.
“I missed you,” he whispered, his thumb stroking across her knuckles.
“I missed you, too,” she whispered back, squeezing his fingers.
“Are we ready?” the officiant asked, as he stood in front of them.
Jensen gazed at Y/N, a small smirk on his face before he looked back at him. “Absolutely.”
The ceremony was short and sweet, the vows they said to each other were beautiful and held all the promises for the future they wanted to build together. The guests clapped and cheered for them as they walked up the aisle, following behind them as they moved across the yard where all the food and drinks were set up. They went their separate ways briefly as they greeted their friends and family, accepting their love and congratulations. She smiled as she rushed over to all their friends from Supernatural, almost getting tackled by a few of them. Jensen caught up with a few of The Boys cast that had made it to the wedding, which he was really thankful for. Having new friends as well as old made everything even more special.
Y/N said a quick hello to Rob before he and the rest of Louden Swain got set up, offering up their services for free as a present to the couple, which they were incredibly grateful for. They knew everyone was going to have a great night if they were in charge of entertainment. The band played all the classics that Y/N and Jensen played, a few of their own songs that they wanted the boys to play, and before they knew it, it was basically a Saturday Night Special right there in their yard with Briana taking the mic, followed by Rich.
“You gonna sing something?” Y/N muttered into Jensen’s ear, her arms around his neck as they swayed to the music.
“You want me to sing you something?” Jensen asked in return, smirking.
“Wouldn’t hate it,” she shrugged, a playful smile on her lips. “You know how I feel about that voice of yours.”
“Let me see what I can do,” he stated, winking as he pulled away from her.

Touch
Square/s filled: Coffee Shop AU and Hand Kink @anyfandomkinkbingo
Pairing: Matt Murdock x Female!Reader
Word count: 3,110
Summary: A visit from the elusive lawyer Y/N is secretly crushing on turns out to be the best part of her day, and brings promises of something more.
Warning: Fluff, swearing, minor angst, smut: slight dirty talk, hand kink, vaginal fingering, unprotected sex (wrap it up people)
A/N: I wrote this for @huffle-pissed Vibes and Valentines challenge, with the prompt “if we keep this up, it only ends one way.” (in bold in the fic). I love how this turned out and yes, Matt Murdock is in the rotation of men currently ruining my life. Hope you all enjoy! :)
Tumblr media
Y/N didn’t really like routines.
Getting up, getting ready and getting the hell out of her apartment on time for work was all something she hated doing, but that was the reality of the world. Working at the coffee shop two blocks away wasn’t rewarding, especially dealing with customers that ranged from good to bad to very, very ugly. Whether it was opening the shop, doing a shorter shift in the middle of the day, or closing after a tiring one, it was all a part of the routine she couldn’t stand. It was all for a job she hated, and she couldn’t wait for the day that she was finally out of that place, with a little more control of what she did with her time.
There was only one thing in that routine that made it bearable, that actually made coming into work worth it, and that was one customer in particular.
Matt Murdock, attorney at law and the only man who seemed to have the ability to leave her weak in the knees from just a few minutes of interaction in the mornings. He would come into the shop at 8:15AM on the dot, order a large drip coffee, refuse change but leave a great tip after he chatted with her a little. A few quips, a flash of that gorgeous smile and instantly he would make her day better without even knowing it.
She knew he probably didn’t care about her, that he was just being friendly like she was sure he was to everyone, but he was the best part of her day and she really wished she could tell him that. Unfortunately for her however, that day she would be working during the day and closing later, so until he came in for a midday caffeine hit, she probably wouldn’t be seeing him.
Around 3pm, after the lunch time rush and college kids slumming it for a few hours to get out of classes, she was alone in the shop with only her book to keep her company. They were currently understaffed, so while she would usually have someone working with her, the lack of employees was really putting a strain on those of them that were left. There was never much to do between the one or two customers that would come in, so there she was, leaning over the counter, her nose buried in the latest novel she was reading.
The bell above the door of the shop rang, a light, repetitive tapping catching her attention. She lifted her head, her eyes widening as she saw Matt walking in, his cane hitting the floorboards as he made his way to the counter.
“Matt,” she sighed, her voice hitching as she took in his soft, brown hair and strong jaw, a light stubble adding to his appeal. “Hi, how are you?”
“Good, though it’s a slow workday,” he replied, smirking softly. “Hoping another large drip coffee does the trick.”
“Sure thing,” she muttered, shuffling back towards the coffee machine.
“Seems like things have been slow here, too,” he observed, tilting his head slightly.
Y/N poured the fresh coffee she had just made before he got to the shop into a Styrofoam cup, snapped the lid on as she walked over to the counter, glancing around the room before she looked at Matt, frowning.
A smile grew on his face as he sensed confusion through the silence. “You snapped your book shut when I walked in and the music’s a few notches higher than usual. Plus, there’s no clattering of cups and spoons, so I have to assume it’s only me in here.”
She raised her eyebrows in surprise, even more in awe of him than she ever was. She slid the cup across the surface of the counter, her eyes glancing over him as he reached for it. He slipped his hand into his pocket, taking out a folded bill and sliding it across to her. She pressed her lips together, trying not to laugh as she pushed the money back to him.
“Matt, that’s uh… that’s a 50,” she confessed.
He huffed a small laugh, shaking his head. “Sure you don’t want to take advantage?”
“God no!” she exclaimed, chuckling.
“Foggy sure would’ve.” His melodic guffaw joined hers, as he placed it back in his pocket and took out another bill, a twenty dollar one this time and placed it on the counter. “Must’ve folded it wrong.”
She nimbly pinched the money between her fingers, her hand close to Matt’s, their knuckles brushing against each other’s. She flinched slightly, cursing herself as she watched his hand retreat and take hold of his cane again. He stepped back, his lips pulling up briefly before he gave her a small nod.
“Thanks, Y/N.”
“You’re welcome,” she whispered as he walked out, the bell ringing once more as the door closed.
Sighing heavily, she dropped her head in her hands, a frustrated groan leaving her. She hated the fact that she was like this, taking one step forward to talking to Matt but then taking two steps back and never mustering the courage to ask him out. Maybe it was a good thing in the long run, what’s a smart, good-looking lawyer like him going to do with her anyway? She often thought about that, but then other ideas, like ones of his hands roaming over her skin, his lips on hers as well as other parts of her body, always made their way into her mind.
With her lack of courage, those images would probably never become a reality.

Cheers came from the crowd behind the barriers as Y/N stepped out of the black SUV. She buttoned up the blazer of her completely black ensemble, apart from her red patent leather heels, standing beside the open car door, waiting for the next person to get out. She saw several fans moving back and forth, trying to see who was about to step onto the carpet,  giggling to herself. She always loved this part.
Jensen stepped out of the car, waving as the cheers and screams grew, causing her smile to widen. There it was. She closed the door behind him and flashed her badge to the security guards, thanking them as they were let through. Jensen slipped his sunglasses on before buttoning his black, double-breasted, pinstripe jacket, looking down the carpet as he sighed heavily.
“That’s a lot of cameras,” he remarked, glancing back at her.
“You’re gonna be fine,” she reassured him, patting his arm lightly before she gestured behind her at the rest of the cast. “Chace and Tomer are right behind you, so you’re good.”
Jensen smirked as he raised his fist, allowing her to bump her own into it, giving him a light pat on his back. He walked onto the blue carpet, thanking fans that were there as he signed merch, before waving at them and continuing down the line. Photos were taken first, as Y/N guided him to each spot, simultaneously looking at the schedule on her phone of the outlets that wanted interviews.
“Not as bad as you were thinking, huh?” she asked as she walked past him, pointing out the next stop on the press line.
“Never said it was bad, sweetheart,” he replied, chuckling, “just a lot more than I’m used to.”
“Well, if I do my job right, things are only getting bigger from here,” she stated, flashing him a smile.
“Pretty sure you’ve never done your job wrong, darlin’,” he jested, his usual drawl slipping out slightly as he walked over to the next set up.
Jensen’s hand brushed across hers as he moved past her, glancing back and flashing her that smirk she had come to fall for over the years, before he focused his attention on the interview. They had been friends for years, since the middle of Supernatural’s run when his management changed, and she oversaw his publicity. She always kept things professional, but somewhere along the way he had become a really good friend, and eventually for her at least, he became a lot more in her heart. Still, she had never crossed the line, and she didn’t plan to.
“Hey, you okay?” she heard a voice ask behind her.
Shaking her head, she came back to reality. She smiled at Karen as she stood next to her, giving her a small nod. “Yeah, sorry, I totally spaced for a second.”
“You’ve been busy, I totally get it,” Karen said, smiling softly at her. “At least you don’t have to worry about him after the premiere and get the rest of the night off.”
“Yep, I got a hot date with the hotel bathtub,” Y/N quipped, chuckling lightly as she stepped back and let the other woman pass.
The press line continued until the end of the carpet. The cast stood together as Y/N kept to the side, feeling her heart skip a beat as she watched Jensen interact with the rest of them. They had all welcomed him in so easily, and he fit in with them like he had always been there. She was glad he had such an incredible experience with them, and she hoped that would continue.
Once inside the theatre, Y/N stood close to the doors as the cast and Eric took the stage, answering a few more questions from the host of the evening before the room darkened, ready to air the first episode of the season. She continued to work on her phone, catching glimpses of what was happening and laughing to herself at the crowd’s reaction. She made her way backstage before the episode was over, ready for them to walk back to the cars.
“You know, if you’re not doing anything, you should come to dinner,” Jensen suggested, glancing down at her as they took the back exit of the theatre.
“Really?” she asked, frowning.
“Yeah,” he replied, casually as he shrugged his shoulders. “We haven’t gotten a chance to hang out, might be nice.”
“No, uh… it’s okay, I got a lot of emails to reply to and then I’m gonna soak in the tub,” she declined, a faint smile playing at her lips. “But you guys have fun.”
Jensen guided Karen and Claudia down the carpet, letting them get into the car first before he turned back to Y/N. “Put work away for one night and come out with us. With me.”
She sighed, huffing a small laugh before she looked back at him. “Okay.”
“Awesome.”

Tumblr media
Y/N had always prided herself on doing her job in a timely manner and doing it correctly.
When she was hired as a P.A for the Solid Gold segment at one of the major television stations, it was unexpected to say the least. She had applied, but considering the entertainment industry was so male dominated, she was sure it was going to slip through her fingers. Then one day she got the call that the job was hers, and she never looked back after it. There was never a dull moment on the set of the music program, especially when supes were invited to join the hour. Sometimes they would be surprisingly good, and other times it was clear they were just there to fulfill their duties from talent management at Vought American.
When Y/N found out who was coming into film their appearance that day she tried not to implode with excitement. Soldier Boy would be at the studio, and she had made sure to clip her gold Soldier Boy inspired pin to her blouse, in the hopes that he would notice if she got to meet him.
“Do you know when he’s gonna be here?” one of the other P.A’s, Josh, asked her as soon as she arrived in the studio.
“He should actually be here soon,” she informed him, grinning.
Just as Y/N picked up one of the walkie-talkies and clipped it to her thick belt, her head whipped around as the sound of heavy boots coming down the hallway reached her ears. She stepped forward, an enamoured smile pulling at her lips as she noticed the swagger with which Soldier Boy walked into the room. His eyes met no one’s as he passed by, an entourage behind him, chattering quickly as they followed him to the assigned dressing room. She saw a small flash of his green suit before he disappeared around the corner, her heart beating fast with the exhilaration of seeing him in the flesh.
She had only ever seen him on television appearances or his old movies that she loved to watch with her parents, but never just mere inches away. She couldn’t wait to tell her family; they were going to freak out.
“That was so awesome,” Josh breathed, stunned by the supe’s presence.
“I kn-” she was about to agree when they both jumped, seeing one of their co-workers being shoved out of the dressing room, his back hitting the wall.
“Did no one get the memo about iced?!”
Y/N eyes widened as she heard the booming voice of the beloved supe echo across the studio. Everyone was in shock as they looked at each other, unsure of what to do. She gulped as she saw her boss stalking towards her, his pace frantic as he pulled her aside.
“He’s in a mood, so I need you to go get an iced coffee from that coffee shop down the street,” he instructed her, glancing back to the dressing room before he looked at her again, “and uh, make sure the ice isn’t melting by the time you get back.”
“Bill, it’s a hundred degrees outside, it’s gonna be melting as soon as I get out of the store,” she hissed, her features pulling into an annoyed expression. He had to come to her with this? Seriously?
“I don’t care what you do, just do it,” he countered, glaring at her. With that as his last word, he left.
“Fuck,” she gritted out between her clenched teeth, picking up her purse from where it was hanging from the chair.
She knew she had to move quickly lest someone else get yelled at unnecessarily. She was nothing if not professional and she wasn’t about to let the needless display of entitlement from Soldier Boy change that.
She’d leave that out when she retold the events of her day to her family.

Coors Banquet - Yandere!Johnny Lawrence x reader
part 2 part 3
warning: contains rape, abuse, drinking/alcoholism, breeding kink and spoilers for the Cobra Kai season 2 finale
Tumblr media
You were sitting in your apartment sorting through bills when Johnny Lawrence called. Truth be told, you had a love-hate relationship with the man. While he had offered you a job processing paperwork at Cobra Kai twice a week, he could also be a raging asshole sometimes.
“What is it, Johnny?” you sighed, leaning back onto the couch. This better be good.
“I need you to come to the dojo as soon as you can. With all the new students we’re behind on paperwork, and I gotta get their medical information on file,” he stated, ruffling some papers around to make it sound legit. He needed you here, now. It was the perfect time.
“Wha— right now, Johnny? It’s almost midnight. I work tomorrow, can’t it wait?” you groaned.
“I’m sorry, but it can’t. Look i’ll give you a fifty dollar bonus on top of your hourly pay, alright? Just get down here,” he stated, then hung up the phone.
-
As you walked to Cobra Kai’s door, the California night chill hit your skin and caused your teeth to chatter. You banged on the glass door impatiently and Johnny swung it open immediately.
The rubber bottoms of your tennis shoes slapped the mat as you made your way to the back office, barely noticing that Johnny had locked the door behind you.
“Thanks for comin’ by, (y/n). The paperwork is just in the back, on the desk—“ he called, but you had already entered the office.
You felt the blood rush to your head. There was no paperwork; only two solid black karate belts and about ten empty cans of Coors Banquet. You backed away slowly, left heel catching on your right foot. Johnny clamped a hand around your mouth as you let out a loud scream.
“Shut up, okay? Jesus, the last thing I need is my stupid landlord knockin’ at the door. Understand?” He slurred. Of course, Johnny was drunk as usual.
You nodded, still feeling Johnny’s warm hand wrapped around your mouth. A shiver ran up your back. Wait a minute… did you actually like this?
He removed his hand and grasped one belt in his hand, making quick work out of tying your hands behind your back and a belt in your mouth.
You bit down on the belt, tasting only the bitter flavor of hard fabric.
“No hard feelings. I mean, I really love you. That’s why I’m doing this, ya know? Everyone always leaves, in the end. Heck, Miguel’s in the hospital and Carmen never wants to see me again. Kreese turned against me again and not even my own son trusts me. But you? Hell, you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me,” Johnny explains as you sob, ugly little cries escaping your mouth.
“You’re just this sweet little girl who happens to live in my apartment building. Who works for me, who always agrees with me. Yes sensei this, yes sensei that,” he trilled, mocking your voice, “God, do you know how crazy that drives me?”
You were only 25, which was young compared to him but not as young as his students. You called him sensei because everyone else did, and it was a running joke since you weren’t his student. You never knew he was so obsessed, so… infatuated with you.
Johnny dragged you out onto the mat, causing you to stumble over your feet again.
“I’m sorry to have to do this. Kick your shoes off and stand here,” he said, leaving you to stand alone.
He landed a swift kick to the back of your shins. You fell to the ground, hard, and groaned in pain.
As you lay on the ground, limp and in pain, the last thing you saw was Johnny pulling up his foot in preparation to land a kick to your head.
-
The first thing you smell when you wake up is the alcohol on Johnny’s hot breath above you.
“We’re going to be so happy, you know that? Robby will finally come live with me, and so will you. And our baby cobra will show LaRusso that I can have a happy family, too.”
Each time Johnny pushes his cock into you, you are filled with more pain than the last. You never wanted this to happen.
“What— baby cobra?” you groaned in pain, blinking your eyes open.
“I’m gonna give you a baby, and we can finally be a family. I can’t wait to tell Robby, a-and Miguel when he wakes up. You’ll be the mother you were always meant to be, and I’ll be the father I never was. The father I never had,” he explains deliriously.
He cums inside you with a heavy moan, arms still positioned on either side of you. He kisses up the side of your neck as you futilely attempt to squirm away from him.
“I don’t want to be a mom yet,” you cry, “I’m still so young a-and I have a-a career ahead of me.”
“Yeah right, a dead-end job working as a receptionist for a family dental office. You couldn’t even afford rent if I didn’t pay you to come around here every week. Anyway, you don’t gotta worry about that anymore. I won’t let you go. Not now, not ever.”

Ted and Rebecca ARE where the show is going.
Ted and Rebecca are too important to be fucked with, they needed to establish a deep emotional connection first. They needed to lay down a foundation of trust and deep understanding. Once this is done, it’s very easy to ramp up the sexual tension: you literally only need one scene, one look, one touch.
The writers don't want Ted and Rebecca to be explicit right now. We see them subtly set things up all of the time like with Sam and Rebecca, so why is it unfathomable that they're doing the same with Ted and Rebecca but on a much larger scale?
No show ever did something like 1991 for platonic soulmates. Shows never went to such great lengths to show two characters were soulmates. It’s simply not worth the trouble. “What if I met my soulmate and it changed the whole course of my life” vs “this job you gave me has changed my life” + 1991 + the two fake outs at moments it would have been awful for them to get together + some of the faces Ted makes in 104, 109, 110… + T/R strolling through town with Last Christmas playing (of all the songs…) + Ted constantly being set up as the exact opposite of Rupert + Ted’s crush being a woman who is the exact copy of Rebecca are a great set up and proves that the writers ARE going there. We’re in a three parts ROMCOM, the writers spelled it out loud to us in 205. Jason’s inspirations for the show are Nora Ephron, Aaron Sorkin and Ron Shelton…
The writers know what they are doing. They’re all romcom fans, Bill Lawrence never had two leads not end up together, and he said himself in 2019 “If you're going to keep leads apart, you have to do meaningful relationships with those leads and other actors and actresses, who aren't just played as plot points; people get invested.” That was what they did with Sam and Rebecca this season. And Jason said S2 was “in order to love others, you need to FIRST love yourself”, which is a pretty good philosophy to go by.
Bottom line is, Ted and Rebecca won’t end up alone. They both deserve to experience the greatest love, especially Rebecca who was abused and cheated on for 12 years. They’re not gonna have a woman who said “is it ever possible to truly feel safe with someone, I suppose you can’t”, “all relationships are a nightmare, something always goes wrong” end up alone. Especially as Rupert said “in the end, it’s all about being with the right person isn’t it ?”. That would make Rupert the winner, and that’s not something any of the twelve writers would do. Also, watch her reactions when Higgins talks about his wife… she CRAVES a great love story.
She is gonna find her lightning, as she deserves to. And lightning is unpredictable, something you don’t really see coming, which fits T/R really well.
And Jesus, Sam and Rebecca are OVER. They broke up (Toheeb confirmed it, and he didn’t even need to) and there’s a two months time jump at the end of S2. Why are there still people not grasping this very simple fact ??

season 3 predictions
(all of which are likely to be made completely redundant by 2x12 but HEY HO LET’S GO)
Sam. I think the opportunity offered to him by Edwin is too great to pass up but I just can’t imagine the show and the Richmond team without Toheeb Jimoh. Given that the writers have said they’ve planned these arcs in advance I don’t think he’d be written out for the sake of a new acting gig. Therefore because I’m selfish and desperately hoping he stars in season 3 (and could hardly pop back as a recurring character while on Edwin’s team) I could see him doing a Leslie Knope from Parks and Rec: ‘I want to leave Richmond better than when I joined it’. After what I hope will be a promotion for the team I could potentially see him asking Edwin for a year’s grace to help Richmond win the Premier League, and then he’ll happily take him up on his offer.
I’m also hoping like hell that this would be the push Rebecca needs to see there’s not going to be a future in the relationship with Sam. It’s interesting that although Bill Lawrence has openly agreed that the employee/age difference is concerning, there’s been little acknowledgement of that in the show, so I wonder if there’s going to be fallout in episode 12 in some fashion. Regardless, I think it’s time to say goodbye to Sambecca.
Keeley and Roy. I am firmly of the opinion that they ain’t breaking up any time soon. There’s no way in hell Roy has knelt down in front of Keeley so many times without it meaning something, so I am certain that next season will be the planning of the Kent-Jones wedding.
I also have a sneaking suspicion that Keeley might end up being the next opening-shot of the season. After episode after episode of her working as Roy/Rebecca/Jamie’s emotional support, we got a tantalising glimpse into her psyche last episode: both with her uncertainties around being featured in Vanity Fair and her ambitions being shaped by her mother’s history. I love Keeley but quite frankly we haven’t had enough of her as plot - I really think/hope she might come to the fore next season.
Nate. I fully believe there’s no way in hell Nate will still be working at Richmond come the end of the season, though I can imagine him walking away in a fit of pique rather than Rebecca firing him. (Frankly, I can’t see Ted letting Rebecca do that.) I think he’ll end up joining another team - possibly with or without Darth Mannion’s help - and, although a lot of people here want this to be a devastatingly humiliating/humbling experience for Nate, I’d love to see this as an opportunity for him to genuinely grow outside the confines of Richmond (which forms way too much of his identity - and let’s be honest, can’t always hold good memories for Nate when he was literally asking his teammates not to physically harass him on a daily basis). I can definitely see someone - HigginsHigginsHiggins - giving him Sharon’s number to call before he leaves, and I like the idea that in the season break Nate could be dealing with some of his issues and returning to the Nate the Great we know and love.
However, I then think Nate will somehow end up back at Richmond. While you could argue that it would be better for Nate to make a clean break, it would honestly be a waste of Nick Mohammed’s bloody sterling acting talents to keep him away from Nelson Road for too long in season 3. I have no idea how a redemption arc here might look, but it would have to be good, and if there’s forgiveness to be offered, it should take more than the space of an episode - although I hope they don’t stretch it out too long. Rebecca and Jamie were forgiven relatively quickly; it would be a shame and a bad look if Nate’s own forgiveness journey was too disproportionately drawn out.
I’d also love to see Jamie, Colin and Isaac apologise for their season 1 bullying of Nate. Much as the bullying Nate suffered doesn’t excuse his shoddy behaviour, Nate’s own bullshit doesn’t excuse what our beloved trio pulled in season 1 - and crucially, we never saw them apologise to Nate or try to make amends. I really love apology scenes and I’d love to see Nate with some friends beyond Ted and Keeley - and that li’l scene in the Liverpool karaoke bar with Isaac, Colin and Nate doing shots together means I want more of this friendship.
Some sort of Jamie/Nate commiseration over shit dads and over-compensating for the emotional wounds they give us? Please?
More Higgins. In many ways Higgins is the emotional rock for our beloved Richmond: he’s the only one not suffering from some sort of untold trauma or struggles, and is able to live with a relationship with an imperfect father and yet be a fantastic father himself. I’d love to see a storyline where Higgins isn’t on the periphery but straight in the heart of the action, potentially adopting a Richmond boy or two along the way.
By saying this, I mean Jamie. If we get a scene where Jamie is invited around to the Higginses for Sunday lunch I will cry. Much like Nate needs space apart from Richmond to grow and heal, Jamie needs close relationships with people who aren’t Keeley for security - mature familial relationships, and quite frankly the Higginses are the stable family dynamic Jamie needs right now.
Why the fuck does Colin feel the need to remind himself he is not a piece of shit? Enquiring minds need to know. We’ve had episode storylines that focus on Dani, Sam, Jamie and Isaac; I just want one with Colin where I’m not emotionally devastated by the end of it, thank you Headspace.
This isn’t so much a prediction as a plea, but an entire episode where the Richmond boys are the focus. A night out in Richmond, that long-promised pillow fight, them finally taking Colin to go clothes shopping for something that isn’t a  button-up polo shirt - I honestly don’t care, I just need as much of their antics as Apple TV allows.
On a slightly more realistic note, the Himbos Greyhounds content rose significantly from season 1 to season 2, so I can see the writers carrying on with that arc.
Ted. Fuck knows. At this point I can’t trust myself to predict Ted’s actions - I do think Nate’s going to be leaving Richmond, and so I can’t see Ted leaving as well. It would be amazing if Ted used the dubiously-written expose (c’mon Trent, you couldn’t have given Ted a head’s up or asked for a quote before the article was put online? forget dubious journalism ethics that just...seems inefficient not to approach him for a comment while you were writing the piece) as an excuse to talk more about mental health in sport. I definitely think episode 12 is going to have Richmond rally around Ted, and so I do hope the article isn’t going to drive Ted further into hiding and that he’ll be at Richmond by the time season 3 comes around.
Ted and Rebecca. I can’t have been the only one that caught that little look by Ted when Rebecca left his office in 2x11, right? Certainly the show has set up a whopper of a truth bomb for season 3, when there’s another heart to heart in Ted’s office, and though it could be anything, my little shipper heart is screaming  some sort of romantic confession of love. I don’t know, it just feels like there is a...a something between Ted and Rebecca that’s going to happen in 2x12, and I can’t help but think it’s going to lay the foundations for whatever happens in season 3 big time.

THEY ALWAYS INTENDED FOR TEDBECCA TO BE ENDGAME! There is too much here for it to not be the case and lets unpack some of it. I could write a fucking essay on this so I'll try and keep it as brief as possible it will be long.
DO NOT GET ME STARTED ON THE BISCUITS CAUSE WHO BRINGS THEIR BOSS HOMEBAKED TREATS EVERY DAY FOR THREE YEARS JUST TO SEE THEM SMILE? Okay sure it started as a way to get to know her but no need. Also no need for her to react like their fucking gold either.
We know in Make Rebecca Great Again, it was mean to be Rebecca who showed up at Ted's hotel door. This has been confirmed by the writing team. They did this to preserve the relationship for later. so instead of Rebecca it was Sassy. If they had no further plans for this relationship (Ted x Rebecca) why not let them just have a torrid little one night stand. They have no issues with inappropriate office romances, we saw that with Sam and Rebecca.
Why make Ted the first person to actively acknowledge he could see through Rupert? Why make him the one to comfort her at the gala in For the Children? Why have the people on the rickshaw be played by the standins for Jason and Hannah? Why tell us the rickshaw was meant to return, that the driver was expected back in season 3? The show loved callbacks, we know this and saw a significant callback with background actors in another Rebecca storyline, so we can expect that the rickshaw was meant to be circled back to at a later date.
Why make Rebecca the only one to be able to see Ted's panic attacks? If ultimately, they were only meant to have a employee/employer relationship (which is what we were given in ultimately) what was this for?
Why the 1991 connection? Why the hallway scene with the bullying/psychic bits. Why the green matchbook being shown as still in Ted's possession? Why have her BEG him to stay when she couldn't beg a sexual partner to stay previously? Why the big airport farewell?.... WHY WOULD YOU LET YOUR LEAD ACTRESS THINK THAT THEY WOULD END UP TOGETHER WHEN THIS WOULD DIRECTLY IMPACT ACTING CHOICES?
We know Jason requested half season 3 to be written post Bill Lawrence having to take a step back. This is what caused them to still be editing the episodes up to the day they were to be released. A direct result of this was the addition of the Amsterdam ep which introduced boatman. So don't tell me this wasn't a last minute pivot.
I could talk about a lot of the cast not being happy with the ending here, but apart from Nate and Hannah it doesn't really impact tedbecca.... and we all already know they were captains of our ship.
If you never intended for them to be together by the end none of this was needed. None of these really impact the over all story.... So I am sorry but they definitely changed the end. I don't know why, whether they got scared or they just wanted to do something to surprise... But ultimately, Rebecca and Ted were meant to be together.
If they didn't have in mind for Ted and Rebecca to get together in the end.. I'm wondering if they just never thought about her love interest at all (?), but why make such a big deal out of it?! Aka:
Tumblr media
Why would they include this if the man they had in mind was just some random guy on a house boat of all places? Doesn't make sense to me, also doesn't play into the rom-communism mantra but that got lost along the line anyway...
this season is a mess..I enjoyed a lot of parts but it's a mess

ted lasso 2.08 thoughts
that was a lot, huh?????
i was SO scared that ted lasso killed off sharon at the beginning of the episode. i don’t know! this season is emotionally deranged! who knows what it will do????? THANK GOD that was not the case!
loved the extra dimensions to sharon that we got to see in this one. toniiiiiiiiight, tonighhhhhhhhht won’t be just any nighttttttttt!
sharon saying “i don’t have a husband” absolutely has me thinking “but do you have a wife?”
i am kinda curious if they’re going the ted/sharon route. they’re developing their relationship really beautifully; i just wonder if it might eventually wander in a romantic direction. if ted falls in love with his therapist and rebecca falls in love with her 21 year old employee, are they similarly making very iffy life decisions?
i knew it was coming re: ted but it was still a lot to actually have it happening in front of us onscreen. :( i liked how he said it once he and sharon had gotten into a shared space of just being able to say their feelings without having the other person need to comment/fix it/offer advice/whatever, since they’re two chronic life-fixers!
“i knew it was coming but it was still a lot to actually have it happening in front of us onscreen” – i think that’s also my feelings about sam and rebecca, but in a different way??
like, i’m still so used to considering ted and rebecca together, even though they haven’t interacted substantially since flippin’ christmas date night, and it just feels wild to have them going in these very opposite directions right now. (i feel so, like … lonesome for their interaction! i miss it a lot! it pains me! it kind of hurts to realize how much distance is between them right now compared to how close they were all throughout season one. how i took that closeness for granted!) like, ted is finally digging into some deep truths about his life and the roots of his pain, whereas it feels like rebecca is living in this gorgeous brightly colored romcom dream – and i don’t know if it’s because she’s truly moved on from her own pain, as much as it’s because she wants to believe that she has.
i do think that sam and rebecca MUST be destined for a fair amount of trouble, but i did think their interaction in this ep was also charming enough to make me believe in their butterflies and irresistible attraction.
one thing that struck me about sam here, too, is like … you’re so confident when you’re 21. (i mean, the general ‘you.’ i probably wasn’t, haha!) you’re so sure that THIS is love and it will NEVER change and then you look back years later and you’re like, “dang, i was so young and i felt so sure i wasn’t.” i just think it’s such an interesting point in his life to have this kind of thing happen.
(there WAS a long-running storyline on cougar town where one of courtney cox’s friends – albeit a younger one [the divine busy philipps!] – fell in love with and eventually married courtney cox’s teenage son, so i guess it could also just be true that bill lawrence is out to normalize older lady/way younger dude relationships on television??? but i’ll be honest, i kinda hope not in this case.)
i wonder if we might eventually see ted and rebecca once again realizing that they’re in the same place in their lives in a lot of ways, after being apart all season without someone who quite understands them in that exact way.
like, in a way idk if rebecca is trying too hard to run from her trauma from her marriage, and if that might still be something she needs to sort through by doing the work rather than by falling in love again, even if it is with a good and kind partner this time.
i am extremely biased about all of this, though, because i really miss ted/rebecca SO MUCH. i hope this is on purpose rather than the show just losing interest in their dynamic now that their s1 arc is over. (rebecca’s reaction to ted’s panic attack has me thinking their relationship must still matter! right? right??)
i also feel really curious about whether this will bring up any comparisons to rupert, since he of course cheated on rebecca with a bunch of way younger women. i could see some serious media badness befalling richmond before the season’s through.
the haircut scene!!!!!
i never in a million years would have predicted roy going to hug jamie, and it was just perfect and such a great moment. i really liked how it felt like a callback to earlier in the episode when roy was talking about how he didn’t know how to be around kids or take care of them; i think in that moment, he saw jamie for how young he was, and realized he knew the right thing to do for that kid.
(also kinda interesting that that took place in the same ep as the sam/rebecca stuff!)
um, is it just me being paranoid, or is roy vibing with phoebe’s really charming teacher with the beautiful accent? D: PLEASE, LET US AT LEAST KEEP ROY AND KEELEY STABLE AND WELL. i could see roy and keeley and the charming teacher maybe becoming a throuple.
beard and roy just being in a room alone together, saying nothing and staring weirdly, was hilarious to me. i support their version of hanging out and having a good time. ron swanson would also like to come to that party.
keeley and rebecca blowing kisses at each other through facetime forever <3 <3 <3
i really missed keeley in this episode; having a keeley-lite episode sucks! i did love that she had the richmond colors braided into her hair at the game. keeley! more keeley always!!!! (i get that we had a keeley-centric episode last week. shh.)
man, it’s hard to watch a show for the first time in real time. i’m still frigging shaken to my core by gilmore girls and i’ve seen it one zillion times. but ENTIRELY NEW CONTENT where ANYTHING MIGHT HAPPEN? i don’t know, dudes!

Who are your favourite characters and ships from across your fandoms and shows? No limits on how many 🙂
Currently Chenford is my biggest obsession - I was drawn to the complexity of s1/2 Tim and the depth that s1/2 Lucy had.
Brettsey from Chicago Fire will always have a piece of my heart. It was cool to watch Jesse act differently as Casey when he loved Sylvie; it was very different than his previous relationships. Sylvie is a sunshine child, and I love her and Violet!!!
The Society deserved a second season - I am still salty about that! With characters like Allie and Grizz? Duuuuuuude! Harry and Luke! Helena and Kelly? I am a HUGE Hallie fan, but the story was so good that I just want to know what happened! What was the smell? Could they ever go home? Did Cassandra die in both worlds? How did time pass? SO MANY QUESTIONS.
Booth and Brennan.
Katniss and book Peeta. I really liked THG and the way Collins wrote Katniss as she fell apart.
My favourite book is North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell - Margaret and John in this book… perfection! There is a criminally underrated miniseries staring Richard Armitage too.
I loved Chuck back in the day.
And One Tree Hill - Naley 4ever.
Scrubs - Zachary Braff was so good, and Bill Lawrence cemented his abilities there for me, and you can see flashes of that same way of storytelling in:
TED LASSO. I love every. I ship everyone. I would die for Roy Kent. I would follow Ted Lasso into war. Rebecca is the worlds most beautiful person. Keeley and Sam must be protected at all costs. Beard needs a hug. The way that show is written… magic. ✨
And shout out to Line of Duty, Our Girl, and Would I Lie to You? My favourite British shows of all time.

A few scattered Hawk, Johnny, and Demetri thoughts and headcanons
How Hawk Will Atone in Season 4
This is a dumbass joke I shared this with some friends outside of tumblr, but I needed to save this for posterity, so I’m posting this here as well even though it’s hilariously outlandish. All because I saw this comment and couldn’t stop laughing about it:
Tumblr media
But it turns out this conversation was happening at the same time as a discussion about Johnny’s and Demetri’s heights, and I pointed out Demetri is actually taller. We were talking about how, especially after critiquing Kreese’s tattoo, Demetri needs to insult Terry as well. Demetri goes up against Terry Silver, annoys the shit out of him, calls the earring tacky, you know - just Demetri doing his little Demetri things, hahaha. Then Hawk swoops in, swiping a sharpened sai from the Cobra Kai dojo wall - Stingray pops out of nowhere just to remind everyone that it’s Raphael’s weapon - and Hawk brandishes it over Terry Silver. It probably looks something like the imagery on the Narmer Palette, which shows the king grasping the head of a conquered enemy by the hair, and raising a mace in the other hand to strike him with, a picture of complete dominance.
Hawk then leaps at Terry and slices the sai across his neck offscreen. (I recall it was @phoomwhoosh who reminded me that the hawk screech sound effect has to be played here, as well.) Next thing you see is Hawk victoriously brandishing the ponytail and yelling in triumph, holding it up for everyone to see, and all of the other students cheering him on, with Terry slumped on the ground, defeated and humiliated.
Hawk goes up to Daniel-san, reverently lays the ponytail at his feet, and says with a bow, “For atonement, for what I did to your dojo, and for stealing your sensei’s Medal of Honor.”
Daniel: “........................ you did fucking what now”
“Babes means babes.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Babes” is gender-neutral. I love the notion of bisexual-even-if-he-doesn’t-even-know-that-word Johnny Lawrence just calling any hot person a babe. He thinks Daniel LaRusso’s a babe. He told Hawk at Valley Fest that the flashiest way to show off the board breaking was to “pull the hottest babe onstage and make them hold it” (Hawk listened).
Daniel: “Johnny, when you constantly say that you hooked up with plenty of ‘babes,’ do you mean men and women, or -?”
Johnny: “Babes means babes, LaRusso, don’t be weird about it.”
Just Hawk
Not sure if this is just another dumb joke of mine or a realistic headcanon, but I say Johnny doesn’t actually know Hawk’s real name. Maybe this is realistic, though? Which is sad. I mean, he ignored that kid so much. And I genuinely think it might actually be possible that Johnny never had a single kid fill out paperwork, and only Kreese had them do it once he stepped in (he mentioned Tory’s) and took care of administrative things like paying Johnny’s bills and the like. (Oddly enough, Johnny does know Demetri’s name. Not sure why, but he does.)
Tumblr media
Speaking of names:
The Assassination of Eli Moskowitz by the Coward Demetri Nolastname
Tumblr media
Really, most of the things I desperately want for season 4 are not going to happen, so I’ll just lower all my expectations and just wish for this one single thing: please give us Demetri’s last name. I need to know it!
Important note: I do not think of Demetri as an actual coward, this is just the same damn dumbass joke I’ve been recycling for years now, starting from way back when I said “The Assassination of Greedo the Rodian by the Coward Han Solo.”
And a tangent: I’ve never even seen that movie, but after hearing Martin Kove talk so much about his love for Westerns I’m kind of interested, haha.
Demetri’s Future
This one comes straight from @idontknowkaratebutiknowcrazy and I love it so much that I have majorly latched onto it: Demetri becomes a standup comic when he’s a little older. The credit for this idea goes fully to her! And it truly is an amazing idea. @idontknowkaratebutiknowcrazy also suggested Demetri becoming a comic book creator, which I also love so much, but he could be both! Because whatever he ends up doing, he can definitely do standup on the side. And, man, I just rewatched The Assassination of Eli Moskowitz by the Coward Demetri Nolastname (again: not actually a coward) and his delivery is SMOOTH as silk. He’s so good. And obviously very engaging with the crowd.
If only I could write fics, I’d love to write this one: Demetri starts finding some success after awhile, and his binary boyfriend Eli attends some of his sets, and they both watch a lot of other comics because of Demetri being in that world now. Some of them kill, some of them bomb, and some are just average. Demetri does all three, sometimes all in the same night. Eventually, Demetri has a big night where he headlines a show, and a bunch of their friends come, along with their senseis. Demetri spends a good portion of his set roasting Sensei Lawrence. (The man spent years listening to and following orders from a dude with an inaccurate cobra tattoo, for crying out loud - round pupils, REALLY.) Sensei LaRusso loves it. Eli’s so proud of how well Demetri did in his headline show, but because Sensei Lawrence was in attendance too, Eli says to everyone else later: “I’ve never seen someone kill that hard, and then be killed that hard after the show.”
Hawk’s Just a Simple Man, Trying to Make His Way in the Dojo
Hawk’s trying to figure himself out. He has a bit of an identity crisis when he’s in the transition period between Cobra Kai and Eagle Fang/Miyagi-Do/Whatever the Fuck, and is still figuring out who he is, and whether or not he still does or does not like Nerd Shit. Even more confusing is: does Star Wars count as Nerd Shit? It’s pretty nerdy, yeah, but is it really Nerd Shit when it’s so popular and almost everyone watches at least the main movies?
And Johnny was really at the actual perfect age for watching Star Wars when it came out. Look, I don’t care how much the guy rewatches Iron Eagle on a loop, Star Wars was a cultural juggernaut when it happened (and never went away) and - really, I don’t care who you are, Star Wars is for everybody. I’m even hearing Johnny’s voice in the bit where he goes “It doesn’t matter if you’re a freak, or a nerd, or a loser... all that matters is that you become badass!”
It DOESN’T matter! It doesn’t matter if you’re a freak, a cool popular kid, a loser, a weirdo, a nerd, a normal everyday average joe, or anything at all really - you can watch and like Star Wars, haha.
Sure, maybe Johnny didn’t watch many, if any at all, of the movies past the original trilogy, but here’s another headcanon. He really enjoyed at least the OT, and once Hawk and Demetri find out, it starts to crack at the walls Hawk put up around himself about all the Nerd Shit. He still isn’t sure whether it’s okay to like Star Wars because it’s cool, or whether it’s okay to like Star Wars because he really is still into all that nerd shit... but then Hawk eventually comes to terms with all of it by realizing that it doesn’t actually matter what kind of labels get put on all of this. After all, Sensei Lawrence doesn’t care that much, despite how much he throws words like “loser” around. To him, it was just a cool movie. (Later, when Hawk gets much more comfortable in his own skin, then he can enjoy the truly nerdy shit like Clone Wars and Rebels ahahaah.)
So far, they didn’t really do too many of these kinds of training exercises on the show, but Mr. Miyagi blindfolded Julie Pierce and trained her to use her other senses. Perhaps Daniel got some of that training off-screen too, and begins to teach it to the students. They all start with a kata and blocking drills with their eyes closed. Hawk has some trouble at first, and it’s actually Johnny who says “If you keep opening your eyes, I’m gonna come over there and put a bucket on your head like Obi-Wan did to Luke. And we used that bucket for washing the cars for like the hundredth time.”
“Sensei, you know Star Wars?!” Hawk says incredulously.
And then it’s everyone else who’s incredulous: who the fuck doesn’t know Star Wars?
And that’s how that all began.

Let me put my clown make up on:
Tumblr media
Just in case TL disappoints me, I’ll be prepared. 🤡
I’m not going to lie, this most likely won’t be my last post about Sam x Rebecca, but as of now, maybe the last major conversation I have about it for a while (whatever that means) unless the series does something to make me really happy or piss me off.
Some may think my issue with Sam x Rebecca is because of Ted x Rebecca and that couldn’t be furtherest from the truth. Age gaps, power imbalances, and the consequences of these things—that’s shit I talk about in my everyday life.
I thought John was going to be around way longer and I had no issue with him. I don’t know if Ted and Sassy will be fuck buddies, date, or just have a friendship, but them dating wouldn’t bother me.
There are very real issues with this pairing that the series hasn’t adequately handled and I’m hoping with all hope that they do by the time the season ends. Because they are good and smart writers. And maybe my frustration are with those who use this allegedly inappropriate handling on Sam x Rebecca to prove their is nothing wrong with this ship if the both of them are mature about it. And that’s like…the least of their issues.
People can ship whatever they like, I’m more concerned with how the series frames this entire thing when the arc is fully resolved. Smart and clever writers have failed many before. And it isn’t as if shows haven’t portrayed inappropriate relationships as okay.
I’m more inclined to believe that they do handle this arc appropriately because why have Keeley say John is age appropriate? (Which makes her support of the Sam thing weird.) why have Rebecca bring up Sam’s age to never touch on it again? Why have Sam and Rebecca stand on opposite sides of how their relationship should be handled?
There is that Bill Lawrence remark about how he finds it all “worrisome” and I don’t know if that should be taken with a grain of salt or not.
So…we. will. see.
Now there are some probably saying, “it’s just a show!!!”
To which I say, “that’s a load full of crap.”
People can ship whatever the fuck they want and write whatever the fuck they please, but tv (as well as other forms of media) is incredibly influential. You have many people who learned to accept who they are because of a tv show or that they weren’t alone. You have people shed their ignorance because of how a show handled certain topics and characters.
This show is applauded on how it handles mental health and many have flat out said it’s help them understand that they needed help and some have reached out and gotten it. They have good/great female friendships. Rebecca is handled with nuance and not demonized. The way they deal with masculinity and kindness is also applauded.
And none of these things are dismissed with “it’s just a show.”
We realize the importance of these things.
It’s the same reason this show is criticized for the lack of blatant LBGTQ characters or how some are concerned about how the POC characters are treated.
These things matter.
If it’s just a show, why do people hate Rupert for being abusive to Rebecca or that he intentionally pursues younger women?
It’s just a show, right?
Why care about these things if they’re fictional?
We can’t applaud a show for one thing, and then be dismissive of other things since it’s not a personal concern. That’s some extreme inconsistency there.
So just because Rebecca x Sam is fictional doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be handled appropriately. That doesn’t mean ignore the very real problems and concerns that would plague them. I’m not saying the writers are doing that. I don’t know. However, there are viewers treating it like it’s no big deal and those who’ve reacted negatively to the storyline are overreacting and that’s concerning.
Because, regardless of age, if someone believes that a significantly younger person (18-23) dating a significantly older person is NBD if both are mature, that’s a fucking red flag and you should be cautious of them on the subject.
People thinking that as long as Rebecca doesn’t abuse her power, it’s okay that she has a gross amount of control over Sam’s career, is concerning.
People who said this relationship had a fucked up power imbalance from multiple angles were implied to be or flat out called racist. Yet there is no concern about the racism that Sam will likely endure from the media, fans, etc within the show? Because even recently, we’ve seen and heard football fans be racist to black people over minor and trivial things.
It’s not enough that they like each other, have chemistry, and are mature. The show needs to actually acknowledge and discuss those massive issues. Not brushed under the rug or love conquers all bs.
I truly hope the series proves me wrong and I’m overreacting rather than being proven right and majorly disappointed. And right doesn’t mean they end up together, it means that the series poorly handles the end of this arc.

This is a really well thought out and interesting post. I can see the argument here, especially with all the clarifications from Jason.
Like I've said I'm of the opinion that Jason isn't involved.
I'm about to say one thing that has been riling me these last 24 hours: Jason didn't need this stunt.
I am sick of Harry fans and Larries thinking that he is the center of the universe. Have they even seen Ted Lasso? Jason and the rest of the people involved in production did NOT need Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde to get a record smashing 20 Emmy nominations.
Jason (and Bill Lawrence, and Brendan Hunt, and Joe Kelly, and every single other person involved right down to the bloody catering staff and cleaners) did that. They did it by creating a show full or empathy and love and nuance. A show that talks about love and divorce and mental illness and toxic masculinity.
The season one finale was one of the best 30 minutes of television I've ever seen. Jason gave me literal chills, and that rarely happens with TV especially nowadays.
Olivia made a movie, her second movie as a director. Harry stars in that movie, supporting actor I believe, his most substantial role in a film at the time of making it. It's already been pushed a few months, and despite their best efforts looks to be a middle of the road movie. Not awful, but no where near the equivalent of Ted Lasso.
Let 👏 Jason 👏 have 👏 his 👏 flowers 👏
Of course he's talking about his break up and releasing GQ articles around Emmy nomination time, it's called campaigning and every single actor and actress nominated does the same.
But I'll say it again in case any of you are still reading: H*livia, the worst planned PR stunt in history, has not had nor will it ever have any bearing on Jason's success.

For the “send me a fandom and i'll say:” Cobra Kai
You magnificent person, of course! favorite female character: Carmen + Rosa. Every time they’re on screen I lose it. Closely followed by Aisha and Moon. Now THERE’S a crack ship.  If we were judging the entirely of Karate Kid Canon, I would say Kumiko and Daniel’s mom <3 favorite male character: There’s only room in this heart for Johnny Lawrence, sir. Followed by Miguel. I...I love Miguel. So much.
If we were judging the entirely of Karate Kid Canon, I would say Mr. Miyagi and young Daniel <3 least favorite female character: breathe if Tory sucks, lol. the most unnecessary fuckin’ character, perpetuating girl v. girl hate as a negative stereotype about female relationships AAAAAAAAAAA the ONLY thing I like about her is how sexy she is which is very and also i like the idea of Kreese having a female evil protege and their ‘kill rapists’ dynamic. But that’s IT.  least favorite male character: Anthony LaRusso could fall in a manhole and Daniel would quietly slide the workers who left it open a 20 dollar bill. The writers said, should we give this child one singular redeemable trait? Maybe put a glimpse of the old, adorable Daniel in his younger days? Haha, no <3 favorite ship: Of all time, gotta give it to Johnny/Carmen. Swiftly followed by Lawrusso, followed by Daniel/Kumiko, though I’m warming up to him and Amanda once she developed some character. I’m bi, okay, I can love the homoerotic fights and the found-family tenderness! THEY BOTH CAN EXIST!
Binary Boyfriends is of course iconic, but I also, unpopular opinion, don’t entirely hate Yasmine and Demitri, I think it’s cute that he’s gettin’ some.
Chozen/Daniel also fucking slaps for some reason I kind of dig it.
Other than that, I can’t choose between Sam/Robby or Sam/Miguel but both kind of had their time and got kind of ruined so thats a mad bummer.
Same with Hawk and Moon, I really thought they were sweet and cute actually and had a lot of potential but she did the right thing and now she’s a bi-con, yaaaaas!
least favourite ship:
Tbh, any of the ones that have, like, no onscreen evidence or even interaction.
Besides that:
Robby/Miguel, though it’s hilarious as a crackship, but i just see hate, no chemistry. They’re so much better as brothers.
Johnny/Bobby or any of the OG cobras, I just don’t really see it. if you want 80 homoeroticism, Lawrusso is RIGHT THERE. Although the guys having a crush on eachother is okay I just don’t see it as endgame yknow?
Johnny/Shannon is funny as shit because they are legit so terrible for eachother. I’d love to write them just to go into how they bring out the absolute fucking worst in eachother.
tory/miguel because she’s so out of his league attractive-wise and he’s so out of her league...like, MORALITY wise. not saying miguel isn’t hot, he IS, but Tory has the vibes of like a 22 year old trying to get her GED and Miguel is a literal niño.
kreese/literally anyone you think that man deserves love, fuck you. double fuck you fi its any of his students, I will dig two graves.
film/tv show rating: For ironic campy humorous casual viewing: 11/10 For actual high-quality plot, dialogue, and character: 6/10 (needs work here and there) Whatever the fuck was going on with the entire LaRusso family being pointless and one dimensional as shit for two goddamn seasons: -10000000000/10
edit: WHY DID IT CORRECT TO FUMIKO ITS KUMIKO

Press: Streaming, With Only a Little Trepidation
“I’ve never had more fun on a job before,” says the WandaVision lead who spoke with the Ted Lasso star about their shows, the Scarlett Johansson lawsuit, and what happens to the theatrical moviegoing experience now.
In Reunited, Awards Insider hosts a conversation between two Emmy nominees who have collaborated on a previous project. Here, we speak with WandaVision star Elizabeth Olsen and Ted Lasso co-creator and star Jason Sudeikis, who previously starred in the 2017 film Kodachrome.
VANITY FAIR: Elizabeth Olsen and Jason Sudeikis met for the first time just before filming their 2017 indie Kodachrome, but they already had at least one thing in common: a “big old crush” on Ed Harris, as Olsen describes it. “He did not disappoint at all,” adds Sudeikis. “He stuck up for us. He cared about us. He cared about the movie.”
A guide to Hollywood’s biggest races
Now, the two have much more in common, as first-time Emmy nominees. Olsen is nominated for lead actress for her work as Wanda Maximoff in WandaVision, a Disney+ limited series that explores grief and loss, through a superhero story wrapped in a parody of TV sitcoms. Sudeikis earned four Emmy nominations for Apple TV+’s darling Ted Lasso, which he cocreated, cowrote, and stars in as Ted, a cheery American football coach who attempts to coach an English Premier League soccer team.
In early August, Olsen and Sudeikis reunited over Zoom to chat with Vanity Fair about transitioning these characters to TV, their views on the new streaming empires, and what they think of the lawsuit Scarlett Johansson recently brought against Disney regarding the strategy to stream Black Widow simultaneously with its theatrical release.
Vanity Fair: It’s been quite a few years since you shot Kodachrome. What do you remember about where you were on your trajectories at that time?
Elizabeth Olsen: Of life? It was when I was at a down trajectory.
Jason Sudeikis: Personally or professionally? I feel like from the outside, it only seems like you operate in one direction [motions upward].
Olsen: From a personal standpoint. So, I was excited to get to do a small movie, an intimate job that had some levity. And that was really nice. And I have a big old crush on Ed Harris and I still do.
Sudeikis: Yeah. To know that the director was like, “hey, we’re thinking about Jason Sudeikis for this role” and then Ed Harris stayed on, It was like, “all right, pleasant surprise. Pleasant surprise.”
Your current projects, WandaVision and Ted Lasso, may seem very different but do have one thing in common: they both feature characters that originated elsewhere. Wanda is obviously from the Marvel films and Jason you played Ted Lasso in commercials. Why did you feel these characters would work on a TV series?
Olsen: I got really comfortable in the Marvel movies, taking up my piece of the story and my piece of, how does my little arc work in this much larger arc with 30 other characters? And so the idea of all the focus being on me and Paul [Bettany] totally freaked me out. And that it was on television felt weird because these characters are superheroes and maybe they should be seen on big screens and not televisions. But the entire DNA of the show was meant for television. It was written for television. The arc has to be told through television. And from an actor’s point of view, it was something I’d never done. I’ve never done sitcom acting, let alone go through the decades with it.
And I’ve never had more fun on a job before. We got to go to work and just feel like an idiot all the time. And all of us, we’d be like hamming, hamming, hamming, and use each other as these barometers of “are we doing this too much? Is this now just a parody? Is this a joke? At what point are we supposed to dial it back?” And at one point I did, I think, a quadruple take, and that was the first time the director asked me to pull it back and just do a double take. So it was pretty incredible to get to expand on the character and this world, but do it from a totally different perspective. I’m so grateful for that job.
Sudeikis: Have you hosted SNL yet?
Olsen: God no!
Sudeikis: No? Well, I’m not going to agent you and be like, “if they ask, would you ever want to?” But, look, I know you’re funny. It was really fun to watch you do multi-cam sitcom acting. And then the genre thing, it made me be like, “oh, she would crush on SNL”. You’re always going to internalize stuff because you’re, in my opinion, very, very talented and very, very smart. So then even when you externalize things, like a quadruple take, it would be joyful to watch even in the attempt. Watching the show, it didn’t seem at all like an aberration or like you were putting it on. It felt well conceived and well thought out. And it almost made me wonder if the creator was aware of that or was it all just an act of faith on their part.
Olsen: It was a total act of faith. What they did is they took comedy actors who are really funny and gave them the more dramatic stuff. Because they thought that would balance out when we failed. And we’re like, “You guys are very smart for doing this.”
Sudeikis: Now, are you putting that on them or was that articulated to you day one?
Olsen: We talked about it. We were so open about it. We’re like, “this is very clever that you guys put some of the funniest actors in MCU in these dramatic parts.” But SNL, I watch it every Saturday when it’s live. I’m obsessed with SNL and that’s why I would never! It’s like the ocean. I respect the ocean so much and that’s why I don’t need to go in it.
Sudeikis: I don’t know. I think we’ll see. This is going to be like Charles Foster Kane’s declaration of principles. “I would never host SNL.” And then, “And your host, Elizabeth Olsen.”
Olsen: So tell me about Lasso: small to big.
Sudeikis: Me and my buddies, Joe [Kelly] and Brendan [Hunt], did those commercials in 2013, 2014, and we then sat down to talk about it in 2015. And it was kind of like, “okay, is it another set of commercials? Is it a movie?” I knew what the character was and we all grew up with great sports films, by Ron Shelton and Rudy and Hoosiers and things like that. But then also liked Nora Ephron, you know? We wanted to make something that had a little bit of romance. And romance may not be sexual, it’s also a platonic version of romance. And the story just sort of spooled out of us in a way that garnered a pilot episode and then a well-beat-out outline for a season. Because we were kind of modeling it after the British Office where it’d be like six episodes, six episodes, and then maybe an hour and a half special, like a movie type thing. Not wanting to take up too much space and not knowing how long it would go. And so it only could be a TV show, was the way it felt.
And so then it went away for a while because that was in 2015. And then lo and behold, it comes back around when I met Bill Lawrence for this other project. That one didn’t work out, but he was like, “Do you have anything?” I said, “Well, we have this.” And I remember having a whole bunch of stuff in this office, more work than I think he realized. He’s like, “Oh yeah, this is definitely, this is a whole thing. Okay. Wow. You guys have really thought this through.”
Olsen: Did you have a [writers] room or did you already write most of it?
Sudeikis: No, we definitely had a room. It was like I knew the chords, I knew the structure of things. We had a great room of 11 people for the first season. With hiring people, we just had good fortune. I didn’t know it was interesting at the time, but asking people during the interview process who their mentors were, who were the people that encouraged them, who made you think you could do this for a living—you can learn a lot about a person by listening to them talk about their mentors, their heroes.
Olsen: With the jokes, I feel like they’re so quick, but they’re so specific to people who watch sports and who knows sports. Well, not all of them, but a lot of the jokes are. Do you have a list of ones that you want to get in there or are these coming up in the room? Because it gets me as a big sports person.
Sudeikis: It really depends on it. There’s some ideas that I’d had for years and years that are just from old notebooks that I used to carry around when I worked on SNL before you would type things into a phone. And storylines and themes and characters that have just been ruminating in my head based on other ideas for either movies or sketches that didn’t make it. And then a big part of the room is that we have this collective consciousness that isn’t all sports.
And then with specific soccer jokes, we do try to include jokes that we call “two percenters” that only football fans would like. Just as our little tip of the cap because we wouldn’t be here without that group of people digging our shit back in the commercial days.
Your shows were on Disney+ and Apple TV+. Did you have any concerns about them being on streaming services, which were relatively new at the time, and finding an audience?
Sudeikis: It’d probably be more so if it was like Goodyear TV+, if it was some brand that didn’t already rule the world of entertainment and technology.
Olsen: I did a version of that with Facebook. And I didn’t like that experience. I loved my show [Sorry for Your Loss] and I loved everyone that I worked with. But the Facebook relationship was frustrating because of the lack of television experience and how the platform is organized. When we went to season two, we had a meeting that our show called for Facebook to have with us, so that we can give them our notes about their platform and why we think it’s really hard to find our show on their platform and how it’s congested. So I was anxious going into Disney+. But I knew it was Disney. And I think I was more anxious with the Marvel characters being on television than I was about the Disney+ element.
Sudeikis: Golly, I didn’t even consider that. And you’re absolutely right, because Facebook would be closer to Apple. Truth is we didn’t have a choice. We pitched it to a bunch of different places. They were the only ones that would open the door and say, “yeah, come in out of the rain, you can hang out in here. You can do your little show in here.” And so, the trepidation was alleviated by the fact that there was nowhere else open to us.
Olsen: Facebook and Apple I feel like aren’t that similar.
Sudeikis: No, but they hadn’t created content before.
Olsen: Well, Facebook now is [scaling back] scripted content.
Speaking of streaming, both of you have starred in big theatrical movies. Are either of you worried about the theatrical experience, in the way that COVID has changed how movies are being released at this point? We saw how that’s playing out with Scarlett Johansson’s recent lawsuit.
Olsen: I’m worried about a bunch of things. Not worried on Scarlett’s behalf. But I’m worried about small movies getting the opportunity to be seen in theaters. That was already a thing pre-COVID. I like going to the movies and I don’t necessarily want to see only an Oscar contender or a blockbuster. I would like to see art films and art house theaters. And so I do worry about that, and people having to keep these theaters alive. And I don’t know how financially that works for these theaters. I do hope that there’s some sort of solution that the larger companies are coming together to keep, at least in L.A. this is going to happen. But I do think it’s going to be how it kind of used to be when studios owned theaters. And I have a feeling that we might go back to that being the only way to keep them alive with such expensive real estate. But when it comes to actors and their earnings, I mean, that’s just, that’s just all contracts. So it’s either in the contract or it’s not. What about you? Are you worried about Scarlett?
Sudeikis: Of course. How could I not? She’s married to my comedy brother [SNL’s Colin Jost].
Olsen: I think she’s so tough and literally when I read that I was like, “good for you Scarlett.”
Sudeikis: Well, I mean, it is appropriately bad-ass and on brand. I think it’s also married to yes, the COVID of it all and success of the streaming sites. But also just technology. I mean this thing [points at his TV] is as good as any movie theater, and all that stuff is getting cheaper and cheaper. If you’re a family of five and you’re going out there and it’s a whole thing. And yet the communal experience, towards Lizzie’s point is, is one that you can’t replicate in home. You can’t replicate through social media. I think both of our shows have succeeded greatly on their own merit, but it’s certainly written further through people’s love of them socially. Which would have happened back in the day around a water cooler. And while that’s nice, it’s still not the same as sitting next to everybody and getting scared at the same time or cheering at the same time and laughing at the same time.
I do think though, if we just use anecdotally, Kodachrome as an example, more people probably have seen it because it got on Netflix than they would have in the theater. And the more that happens, the better. So it’s like there is that reach that as long as those streaming sites are still paying to make those little movies, they have the opportunity to be seen. And so it is this balance. I just hope that with that still comes creative autonomy, and we don’t lose sight of that.
What about the experience of making these shows will you take on to your next project and the one after that?
Olsen: Well, I definitely had a shake-up to use my full body as an actor. I had to create a character and voices. And just all the technical stuff that I have loved doing my whole life was just shook up a bit. And so I’m now really excited to do more of that and to feel a bit freer in building characters. And so that has really informed the next thing I’m working on now and preparing for. It’s just kind of put me back in my actory body in a really good way.
And hosting SNL.
Olsen: Of course, now I’ll host SNL because stage fright has nothing to do with that. I can do a monologue in front of people and make them laugh.
Sudeikis: Not a prerequisite. Having worked there for 10 years, not a prerequisite. Well, the tacky answer is it’d be tough not being the boss again. And I’m fucking flabbergasted that people have picked up so much what we set down for them. You know what I mean? From colleagues on the writing and acting side to just regular folks back home, people I’ve never even met. It’s thrilling. I have to try to make sense of that for myself. And I think a lot of it has to do with it being something so personal. And so that might be the thing to lean into.
Olsen: It’s interesting you say that because immediately three days after wrapping, I had to go into a film where we’re not in WandaVision land, obviously. I mean, they kind of are a muscle, these Marvel movies. Instead of going back to that routine of it, I tried to do what you’re saying. I was like, “okay, so what can I play with that I haven’t gotten to that’ll at least satisfy something inside me that I want to play with right now?”
Sudeikis: I don’t know when I’ll get to do that again, when I’ll do that next. Because yeah, it’s Lasso—
Olsen: Lasso forever.
Sudeikis: At least for a little bit longer.
Olsen: Is it what you said, three seasons and then a special?
Sudeikis: I mean, the special would have been the third season with the initial thing. Now you sound like you’re my agent or manager.
Olsen: Oh good, that’s what I came here for. That’s what I wanted to do.
Sudeikis: Who sent you? I know the end of this story. I mean, the fact that we have a third season could fucking blow it all and ruin what would people like so much of the first season. We might be in the middle of doing it now in the second season. I don’t know. We’re just doing it the same way we did it last time. So we’ll see. But yeah, that’s a big old, long winded question mark.
Olsen: Or an ellipsis.
