Ha, I assumed it was about grackles! We’ve got brown headed cowbirds in Indiana, I’ve never heard of a shiny cowbird. Brown headeds have less iridescence and they don’t hang out in parking lots really, so you threw me for a sec lol

Comments in that parking lot bird poll is how I just learned that shiny cowbirds are a fairly recent introduction from South America who are only common in Florida, and not a nationwide feature of Walmarts

ok so i have finally given my tomtar a bit of a Revamp... i was unsatisfied with them just being basically. anthro corvid. now i mean theyre still kind of Anthro birdish creature, but now they arent birds anymore and rather related to harpies and basilisks (whose ancestors are the scansoriopterygids).

ive been pondering some world lore with them and also vätte technology as well as their energy resource so yes they now fit a bit the "dwarvern/gnome tinkerer" archetype hehe...

The radioisotope experiments on that lake near me are fascinating in so many ways but mostly in the Jurassic park/chaos theory aspect.

The lake’s outlet was dredged, beavers removed, and fish species (native and otherwise) poisoned in an attempt to control nature and minimize manipulated variables. Then the steelhead they put in decided to be rainbow trout and wouldn’t go to sea. The lake was poisoned again to hopefully start over with a clean slate.

After that, they put in steelhead x rainbow trout hybrids (they’re the same species!! Literally the same!!) and numerous were eaten by steelheads that had managed to survive. And ofc these “hybrids” didn’t want to go to sea either (“the rainbow trout genes were dominant”) so they poison the lake again and put in sockeye who ate so much and grew so quickly it threw off their life cycle and also didn’t want to go to sea!

If you go there now the beavers are back and the creek has returned to a natural state. Nature Life uh finds a way.

Legendary Pokémon "Family Tree"

Look this probably doesn't make any sense to like Anyone that isn't my sleep deprived ass but I've spent like 4 hours on this and my art program crashed three times so I'm posting it anyway. I'm brainstorming just some random stuff for a Pokemon story I want to write and as I'm sitting there I wonder to myself- "Did Arceus create *all* the Legendary Pokémon, I know Ho-oh made the *beasts* so surely..." and thus This was born.

It's designed to be how all the Pokemon gods are related/created, with Arceus at the top. Arceus created Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, The lake Guardians, Kyogre, Groudon, ect. who then went on to create their own gods in their own domains.

Some of these lines are less "I created you" and more "I have ascended to godhood by my own power/due to a gift." (See- dotted lines).

This is so full of headcanons but it was fun to make.

looking up species in dnd land, and foolish me for thinking there's any sort of distinction in anything wizards of the coast -related.

what are the visual/aesthetic/cultural differences between: sea elves tritons water genasi nereids

none. there's none. there's no rules, there's no guides, it's all the same nebulous 'i dunno, ocean.'

at least merfolk are distinct in that they have fish tails shalarin are distinct because of their silly huge back fin. water genasi and nereids are representative of water itself, so they can be like, made of water-looking. so there's that difference between them and the tritons/sea elves. but fhasdkfl;dsa

i don't know why this bothers me so much. i go to poke around dnd land, looking at oceany elf-y species and designs to feed my ocean forever-cravings and i get met with the vague fog of dnd non-descriptions.

I have to make it clear: this isn't a dig against tritons or sea elves, or whatever. I love oceany species, CLEARLY. I just wish there was variety at all, and I'm so fuckin confused about the redundancy.
