Bella had never travelled far enough away from the spare in which she lived to really get a full and complete representation - Gale was the only one she'd spoken to from further away in recent history, and his accent was not too dissimilar from her own.

he didn't really grudge her for that,   actually,  and softened somewhat beneath the touch.  most surfacers only heard of one or two cities,  if any at all.  menzoberranzan,  in his experience,  was infamous for its strict adherance to worship of the spider queen and embrace of hierarchy   ---   if not for once being home to an infamous exile and his pet panther.  hells,  he couldn't even say he knew for certain of the nature or name of any city on the surface at first.  he'd been thrown into it,  forced to drown or learn to swim.  he didn't think much of it anymore.  she was right.  he had traveled far,  though he didn't think much of that anymore,  either.  

“the same as the surface,  no?”   such an   ..   amusing question.  “not everyone up there speaks the same,  even in the same tongue.”  manners of speaking were regional;  he'd certainly encountered other drow who enunciated their words differently.

Vida's Sheep Jumping Spider: researchers believe that these tiny spiders developed their "woolly" appearance as a way to mimic lacewing larvae or scale insects

The scientific name for this species is Oviballus vidae, but it has also been referred to as the "sheepy jumping spider" or "Vida's jumping spider." It was discovered in 2015, and first described (in a formal context) back in 2020.

As this article (PDF) describes:

Recently, two new salticids, R. legitima and Oviballus vidae were described from South Africa, and suggested to be mimics of either scale insects (Hemiptera: Coccoidea) or lacewing larvae (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae), due to their white colouration and the presence of peculiar tufts of white setae on the body.

The possibility of [scale insects] being the model is supported by Oviballus vidae being regularly collected from plants with woolly scales, although the movements of O. vidae quite closely resemble those of chrysopid larvae.

In fact, a fourth species of possible scale mimic, a new Rhene species, was recently discovered in a collection of salticids from southern Mozambique, indicating that this phenomenon may be more widespread than has previously been known or even suspected.

O. vidae was named after Vida van der Walt, the photographer who captured some of the first images of these spiders back in 2015, just after the species was discovered by Dr. Galina Azarkina. Vida van der Walt also took the photographs that appear in this post.

The cutest R cards ever, made to appeal to me specifically^ i love it when he winks and is cheeky. Biiig heart! I have no idea what the story for the octopus one is but i love tiny animals sooo muchhh (lennox's sheepies included, this game knows how to appeal to me). His beach outfit is so silly, but he pulls off the fringe shirt well

Next, the iconic school headmaster card, that's my favorite sr card... the bunny one is my second favorite one though! Again, i dont know the story behind it, but look at him. He's bnnuy. In the winter one i just think he has a lovely expression, makes me curious to know what he's upset at.

I ran out of photo space on tumblr!? Uu... i narrowed down my favorite ssr cards, and i'll make a followup post with some chibis i love... but first it's gotta be the anniversary card, his tower tarot card swag... so good, such a good pick for him! The pose alluding to the actual card, of the people falling, except that he's not helpless but enjoying the thrill of new experiences. Then the second one, i havent read walpurgis yet (what do you think of it? Im curious to hear) but the card strikes me as quite... old murr esque. His expression, the hat, i really like the secretive vibe it gives off. Then i loveee the constellations and general scene created in the third card, it feels like i walked in on his research. And finally, i couldnt decide on a last card, but it's gotta be the one with wisterias for now.
