satosugu/itafushi parallel where if you think about them as individuals, it's gojo-megumi (jujutsu prodigies) and geto-yuji (curse eaters), but if you think in terms of pairings, it's geto-megumi (on their way to downfall) and gojo-yuji (will or will not save the other)

and also in a way that satosugu is tragic and itafushi is hopeful:

gojo's abilities and strenght caused the loneliness to take over his life, and even this strength couldn't help the person closest to his heart

geto's curse-eating was a big factor that led to his downfall, and it pushed him away from people he loved

yuji's curse-eating is a big factor that is leading to his growth as a person and growth in strength

now, megumi's abilities were used by sukuna to kill most of the people he cared about, but i also thing they might be used later on as a way for megumi to find self-worth (if gege's going there, idk)

Saw someone say they were angry at Caroline for not fighting for Klaus during TVD.... DUDE SHE OBVIOUSLY WASNT GONNA FIGHT FOR HIM. HE was the one courting HER. And during that courtship he tried to kill her twice, killed her boyfriend's mom and had previously killed her best friend and her aunt. SHE WOULD'VE BEEN A FOOL TO NOT BE SCARED OF HIM. like wtf? Caroline isn't stupid. She was and I quote "intrigued" but before she could ever give him a chance he had to show actual GROWTH and earn her respect because she knew her value (obviously she lost sight of it when she started dating stefan)

One of the things that makes Klaroline so good is the fact that she never pretended he was something he wasn't. She always called him out and never compromised her morals for him. She stayed true to who she was and he fell for her anyway and he changed on his own accord. That's why they work. Because she knows who he is and when he was a villain she treated him as such and expected him to act as such and when he wanted to be" friends" with her (after 4x14 when he realized he would never be able to kill her or harm her again) she explained what she expected of him and she wasn't gonna settle for less. AND SHE DIDN'T! She wasn't swayed by pretty things or pretty words. SHE WAS SWAYED BY ACTIONS

not to expose myself as a cavetown fan (HDJFJS) but i was listening to alone from his new album (i added it to xie lian’s playlist a while ago) and it hit like so much harder now that i finished the books

this one reminds me of when mq left and xl started kind of panicking. he thought mq left because he didn't care enough to stay now that he wasn't getting paid, and gave his last valuable possession in an attempt to ensure that he would stay. he doesn't have a great sense of whether or not what he had with mq and fx was friendship (IT WAS BECAUSE I SAID SO AND BECAUSE THEY SHOW EACH OTHER SO MANY TIMES THAT THEY GENUINELY CARE ABOUT EACH OTHER) and he thought he had to keep paying fx off.

but fx was genuinely sticking around because he was loyal and because he cared about what happened to xl :(

xl truly did not want to lose fx after everything that happened. he lived in that constant state of fear that fx would disappear and he'd be alone, and did so much to try to make sure it wouldn't happen.

in the end, the anxiety and fear was too much for him and he pushed fx away for good. he described the feeling of freedom of that fall. he was the one to cut fx off and make him leave, and it gave him the power. he made the decision and he made the final move, and when fx left he didn't ever have to think about how he might've felt if fx was the one who left him of his own will.

"Isn't it fun to be alone? Isn't it what you want? Isn't it something you've been looking for? Isn't it fun?"

after slowly pushing everyone away and ending up entirely alone, and after everything that happened with wu ming, xl would've never admitted that it wasn't really what he wanted. not after wu ming. so he kept acting like that was what he wanted, like he wasn't feeling lonely, like it didn't hurt, because he wanted to feel pain and suffer for everything that he took as his own blame. he saw it as his fault, all a product of his own foolishness and selfishness and naivety, so the loneliness he chased was his curse to bear.
