There's a lot in the notes here about 'there should be free laundromats' and 'free bathhouse/swimming pool/library/garden/tool library l'. Who. Is going. To pay. For that.
In the society we live in, things have to be paid for. They just do.
You can get it by philanthropy (if you're willing to put up with the philanthropists' ideas of how it should be run).
You can get it by council tax (if you're willing to pay council tax and deprioritize other stuff like public art or idk utilities).
You can get it by national tax (if you're willing to pay national tax and also deal with the necessary bureaucracy of any national endeavor).
You can sometimes get it by crowdsourced, ethically-pure communal volunteer labor if, and only if, you are willing to pitch in and clean the floors or weed the garden or do lifeguard duty or check the tools back in or clear the lint traps, or at the very least, not go out of your way to make life hell for the people who are doing that so that you can have your nice free socialist garden/laundry/pool.
I've done community organizing on a small scale, and oh my God, never again. Never ever ever again. It can be the most exhausting, thankless, grinding work and you're not getting paid and you're often throwing your own money at it (while getting told off for being so privileged as to have the job that lets you have your own money to throw at the project, naturally) and you're spending all your free time on it (while getting told off for having a job that etc. but also means not all of your time is free, naturally) and it feels like everyone hates at least one aspect of what you're doing, so they keep using it, and they keep shitting on it, and if you think that's bad you are NOT ready for how unfilteredly NASTY the users will get when you say 'I can't do this anymore' and stop. Because if it's that important to the community someone will pick it up, right? Right? Wrong. And somehow that will also be your fault.
Anyway, be kind to the people who provide literally anything free in your community; it may not be exactly what you wanted, but if you use it, it's useful.
I'm very tired and right now all I have the headspace for is weaponizing my ability to appear Normal British to convince the building management that their wiring is in fact dodgy and they need to stop being racist about international students' appliances and fix it already.
whenever i see talk about third spaces people pretty much always mean bars, or other places of consumption. Nobody really talks about something like a public bathhouse that would be a massive boon for local homeless people, or making local laundromats a free public service. These can, and I think absolutely should be valuable and very utilitarian third spaces for community building.

There is some general positivity here. It seems they may be preparing something together right now, or rather are seeing something in a new positive light together as a team. They are all on the same page completely and totally. Generally, this is good, but it speaks more about recent developments than their actual mood collectively.
With Temp and the King, i asked if there are any new developments, and yes there may be. The members are still taking a diplomatic and balanced approach to this because that will be best received by the company and in their best favor. But it looks like communications have opened up. They must be careful not to be too emotional in these communications, or they will just be shut out again. The company has made it clear that how they feel explicitly does not take priority, and it just prolongs the process of any discussions. They are having more clear minded talks like this, and they seem to be going well-ish.

4 of Pentacles + [5 of Wands + Ace of Swords + 3 of Swords]
Anton is struggling with what we discussed above. He seems to want to say a lot but cannot bc he can't keep himself in check. His only way of keeping himself in check is shutting up. With the 5, Ace, and 3, he goes into depth from his perspective, which is unique, I think. He is rather irritated and feels stifled- does not feel good that how he feels is nothing but a hinderance and conflict instigator. He may have been scolded or told off for saying something recently that was deemed too emotional and not thinking about the company or monetary factors. Just like he is viewed as very naiive and he is frustrated that he cannot communicate things well. Of all members he is the most angered or rather bothered by the way things are going- not because it is going badly, but because he can't contribute as much without starting a whole thing. He takes it personally. He needs to work of communicating effectively for him to be heard.

The vibe is "cleanup". This is about covering all your bases for an inspection. Stabilizing, ruling, and preserving structure. This is less abt how they are feeling and more about the situation in regards to Seunghan. We know they are in talks, so here it seems they are first and foremost thinking abt the stability of things and the potential of growth and prosperity over a prolonged period of time. They may have a priority to do this, and therefore they must foster this feeling in Riize and their fandom when proceeding or it will not work. They are aware of this. I would not say they are waking up more- bc they are mainly concerned abt profits. But they are bouncing ideas around, and the people on Riize's side are doing their best to advocate.
Current outlook/Timeline

As we know, I hate timelines and do them sparingly. This is a timeline either for his return or for a significant development in our favor like an announcement of sorts.... 3 stands out. 3 weeks or 30 days actually.
As for the outcome in relation to this- this is saying that an unfavorable ending CAN be resisted. There may be an instance within the next 30 days that is going to test us very strongly. Like this may be really unsavory at FIRST, but we HAVE to push through it. It reminds me abt what I said regarding the ministry a few days ago. Like some things will seem irrelevant or even bad to us- but they will actually be a catalyst to victory. Be SMART and be STRONG through the end of the year, guys.

It is going to get heavy for a minute. But we are doing all of this for a reason. Sacrificing money, time, and emotional expenditure on this. We need to be careful to remember why we are boycotting and advocating, and understand that it will never be easy and free of the stress. The only release will come from a victory that will ONLY happen with people NOT giving up. It does not matter how many people we have so long as we are all in ts for the endgame.

No one can tell you to stop fighting- only you. We are not simply boycotting bc we want Seunghan in Riize. We are fighting for his free will to choose what he wants, and the same for Riize. Until those things are clearly communicated and given to them, we need to continue. Stop being deterred by SM and others. Stopping is YOUR choice. And stopping = 100% losing. Choosing to 100% fail when you can see things through and get a better grade is dumb. Get up. Stay up.

the notepad in your lap felt heavier than it should, the three sentences you had written mocking you from the page. you stared at them, your mind turning over every possible direction to take, but no words seemed worthy enough to follow. they lingered, daring you to finish them, but you couldn't escape the weight they carried.
“don’t speak, no, don’t try
it’s been a secret for the longest time
don’t run, no, don’t hide
been running from you for the longest time”
the lines thrummed with an undeniable truth, pulling you in deeper with each pulse, each syllable. it was a truth you weren’t ready to face yet, but it wouldn't let go. your thoughts circled, skimming the edge of something you'd rather not admit to yourself.
the sound of the pen tapping against the notepad broke the silence, the rhythmic click a small comfort in the otherwise still room. but the question weighed heavily on your mind, refusing to leave. did he want you? and more importantly, could you handle everything that came with him—especially your father?
the memory of the conversation you’d had with your fathe after leaving the pool came rushing back, sharp and bitter. you’d found him standing outside your door, arms crossed, his eyes narrowing as you approached.
“where were you?” his voice was calm, but there was a clear edge to it, like he already knew you weren't telling the whole truth.
“by the pool,” you answered, trying to sound unaffected, “i needed some air.”
his gaze sharpened. “you know you’re supposed to stay low tonight,” he said, his tone laced with disappointment. “this isn’t just about you—it’s about...”
“the team, i know, dad." you swallowed, trying to keep the defensiveness from seeping into your voice. “i wasn’t gone long.”
he didn’t buy it. his eyes searched your face for any sign of dishonesty. “next time, tell me where you're going.” his voice lowered, suspicion creeping in. “alone?”
you hesitated, your stomach turning.
“yeah, alone.” it came out smoother than you expected, but the lie stung like it always did.
he was quiet for a moment, weighing your answer. finally, he nodded, though the doubt in his eyes lingered. “fine. just remember what’s at stake here. for all of us.”
you nodded, the weight of his words pressing down on you as he walked away. once the door clicked shut, you leaned against it, exhaling sharply. you had gotten away with it this time, but just barely.
back in your room, the silence felt suffocating. the words on the notepad seemed to stare back at you, mocking your hesitation. you had no idea how to finish the verse. the melody looped in your mind, the lines demanding to be sung, but it was his face, his presence, that kept blocking your focus.
the version of him you wanted to paint stood just out of reach, too real, too complicated. a dangerous combination of charm and recklessness. you couldn't stop imagining what might've happened if oscar hadn't stepped in when he did—how far you might've let lando push you, how deep you'd have fallen into something you didn't fully understand yet.
just as the thoughts began to spiral, your phone buzzed, the screen lighting up with a message that was all too familiar. of course, it was lando.
“we’re in carlos’ room right now.”
“wanna join us?”
you hesitated, your finger hovering over the message. after a moment, you replied with a single question:
“firstly, who’s ‘we’?”
“myself, fewtrell, george, lewis, max v, charles, pierre n carlos ofc.”
“just having a drink and chatting. we’re on the 11th floor, room 202 in case you come.”
you considered it for a moment before standing and heading to your closet. a change of clothes was in order. you swapped the black nightgown for a simple black sundress, sliding it on before you gave yourself one last look in the mirror. this wasn’t about looking perfect—it was about not overthinking it.
when you knocked on carlos’s door, you could hear the laughter from inside fade just slightly. after a moment of murmured voices, the door swung open to reveal lando, looking entirely too pleased with himself.
“cinderella,” he said with a grin.
“norris,” you shot back, raising an eyebrow.
“norris? i call you cinderella, and you call me norris, y/n?” he asked, clearly confused.
“as far as i’m concerned, that’s your name.”
he rolled his eyes, but the smile never left his face. “that is precisely my point!”
“i won’t call you prince charming. drop it, lando,” you warned, pushing past him to enter the room.
“but i—”
“i will call my father for you if you don’t drop it, norris,” you threatened, your voice a little firmer than you intended as you moved past him.
he stepped aside, but his hand rested lightly on the small of your back as he closed the door behind you, the touch lingering longer than necessary.
you made your way into the room, your eyes immediately finding max verstappen. “y/n!” he shouted, grinning from ear to ear.
“hey, maxie!” you waved back, then turned to carlos, who was sitting cross-legged on the floor, clearly having the time of his life.
“good to know max is the only one worth mentioning and greeting, y/n. really good,” carlos teased.
“oh, c’mon, not you too, carlitos!” you shot back, trying to keep it light. “are you going to the lando norris school of being a pain in the ass?”
“funny, y/n. real funny,” lando muttered from behind you, sarcasm dripping from his voice.
you sat down, pulling your legs beneath you, but the atmosphere was already shifting. the room was a mix of chatter and laughter, the boys gathered around a Monopoly board, bills of real cash scattered haphazardly across the floor. an open bottle of Jack Daniel's sat in the middle of the group, the liquid sloshing as they laughed and argued.
“oh god, are we betting for real?” you asked, eyeing the game with mild disbelief.
“afraid, cinderella?” lando teased, his voice light but with a definite edge.
“give me a bottle of wine and i might end all of you pussies.” you smirked, the banter flowing effortlessly as you settled in.
“can somebody hide that bottle i bought?” lewis joked.
with that, you know you were in for a night that was anything but predictable.

Hold on I'd actually love to talk about Archie comics and the forces behind Riverdale for a second because they're legitimately fascinating.
So, before we talk about why Riverdale's so bonkers, we gotta talk about Kevin Keller. Archie's cast and those of its spinoffs being thrown into Situations of wildly differing tone and periods is a time-honored classic of the series, but that started to mean more than just "here's a story about the gang finding out what kissing is in prehistoric times" after the successful introduction of Kevin in 2010. For those who may not know, Kevin was the first openly gay character in the Archie comics, and his release was kind of a huge deal - Archie had always been seen as this squeaky-clean symbol of (white) Americana, so something like that happening in the new 10's - to fucking Archie - was legitimately groundbreaking. (He's since been followed up with characters like Toni Topaz and Eliza Han, but Kev was the first.)
Remember, Archie is the kids' comic book in America, for better or worse. Superhero comics can vary wildly in tone and intended audience, but if a parent grabs their kid an Archie comic from the shelf at a grocery store, they basically know what they're getting and don't have to worry about someone's neck getting ripped out on-panel. Getting something like Kevin in the "safest" comic short of Family Circus was kind of a watershed moment.
(As an aside: some have pointed out that Kevin isn't a terribly interesting character, being something of a masc everyman All-American Boy™, but I would argue that that's basically all Archie is, and at a time where all the "gay representation" kids were getting were horrible caricatures of fem men as envisioned by straight people, whitebread masc guy Kevin is kind of exactly what the doctor ordered. I would go so far as to argue that presenting this gay teen as unquestionably part of the gang, slotting into Archie's idealized 50's aesthetics perfectly, was one of the best moves they could have made for the era and surrounding climate. This was a time when "Gay men are just as capable of performing masculinity as straight men" was a legitimately transgressive statement. I'm a Kevin apologist. A Kevin defender.)
So, Kevin's release is huge. He's very popular with kids and adults alike, to the point where his introductory comic and miniseries sell out faster than any other Archie comic in history. He got his own spinoff within two years. People love Kevin.
So what does this have to do with Riverdale, beyond Kevin being a character in it? Well, Kevin Keller proves to the leads behind Archie that modernizing the series has the potential to be very lucrative indeed, and this is where Archie starts to get shockingly experimental. (Relatively speaking, anyway.) The new 10's see the release of Life With Archie: The Married Life, (a dual-timeline soap opera exploration of his married life with either Betty or Veronica) Afterlife with Archie, (a zombie story incited by Sabrina trying to bring Jughead's dog back after he was struck by a car) and of course, the infamous Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. (This one got a Netflix adaptation, but in case you need the cliff's notes, basically it's Sabrina the Teenage Witch only the witches get the power from worshiping Satan.)
These series were also well-received. Enter Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the guy behind the aforementioned Afterlife with Archie. After the success of the title, he was made Chief Creative Officer, and he's also the showrunner of Riverdale, and here is the reason Riverdale is Like That.
So while Riverdale is undoubtedly an incredibly weird cultural object, I think a lot of people who aren't familiar with the show or franchise get the wrong idea about it. I think the biggest point of confusion among onlookers is "How in on the bit is Riverdale?" and I would respond: extremely. Are you kidding? Why is there even any doubt about this? Sacasa is a gay guy who got cease-and-desisted for writing a play that reimagined Archie as gay in 2003. This dude got promoted specifically for playing with genre and making Archie weird as Hell back when it used to be considered a dull, whitebread relic. You think shit like the "I'm weird. I'm a weirdo." speech and "That means that you haven't known the triumphs and defeats, the epic highs and lows of high school football." happened by accident? You think it just stumbled into doing an entire Hedwig and the Angry Inch episode? Oh, no, my friend. That shit was the result of a demented fag writer doing what demented fag writers do best; produce camp masterpieces. Everything about Riverdale is completely intentional.
Now, is it good? No, of course not. It is, however, great fucking television. I don't really watch the show outside of a few isolated episodes, but I am really glad it exists.
Gritty sci-fi webcomic where partway through the third major arc the protagonists get trapped in some sort of utopian false reality by a mysterious godlike being, except they never escape and the comic just changes genres to quirky coffee-shop slice of life until it's unceremoniously cancelled six years later.

more Mastermind analysis, while I think its infuriating I don't think its a mischaracterisation that Bee and Ozzie didn't say anything, bc:
They don't know the full situations. Even if Ozzie knows more, there's a lot of things neither of them know.
While they're outspoken and call people out, in this case, "standing up for what is right" would require them to put in question all of Hell's hierarchy, and Satan's right to pass this ruling in any measure.
The punishment of Stolas may be a "flick on the wrist" but not for these two. Hell is based on power, love these people we deem unworthy and you might lose it all.
While Andrealphus is lying about Blitzø's motifs, both him and Stolas always knew they were breaking Demon Law with this. What's illegal here is Blitzø's use of the grimoire/Stolas relinquishing of the grimoire. This is the entire reason why Stolas asked Ozzie for a crystal.
For Ozzie specifically, to admit he did this would be implicating himself and making him an accomplice.
Them singing "he is the law" implies Satan actually does have a right to pass on the judgements, what he was just lying about was being higher ranked than Lucifer. Furthermore, and like I already said, to question him is to question their own place and neither of them are willing to give it up. They benefit from it, they like benefiting from it. It's Stolas specifically the one who has a problem with Hell's Hierarchies, because he doesn't want to rule, he wants to know things.
This is purposeful in Stolas, as he's Blitzø's mirror and foil. Stolas doesn't want power, he wants to know things, and his entire character arc revolves around "is the power I have worth sacrificing my personhood? my true self?" Bee and Ozzie do not feel trapped in the system like Stolas does, they ENACT the system.
This doesn't make them "bad characters" this is not Oliver Cromwell's decree on the immorality of plays and theatre. This makes them compelling characters who might have conflicts with their own partners, LIKE IT SHOULD BE. Stolitz has always been canon, regardless of their status of together or not, they are their respective love interests, and their relationship is one of the most important components of the narrative. Therefore they have to have something that sets them apart from other couples in their situation, and its this. Bee and Ozzie may be dating Vortex and Fizz, and they love them I do not doubt this, but their relationships aren't challenges to the order in hell. Not really, not even if Ozzie fights Mammon about it.
If you also watch Hazbin, remember that Hell's hierarchy does not like being challenged and this is exactly why they don't take Charlie seriously. Because she is disputing their idea of "power" (both Heaven and Hell's tbh). Even Lucifer hates being challenged, despite being the "og rebel". The only person who can question him is Charlie, no one else can.
Like, think about it. Bee provides things, she is the great provider, Ozzie is a fair boss if a temperamental one who their employees know not to fuck around with, and does a lot of things for Fizz. Stolas has been trying to know Blitzø in his entirety BEFORE Full Moon. He was doing it like ass, but he was.
Another thing is neither Bee nor Ozzie try to bring their partners to their level. They rule alone, they do not share their power. Stolas did, because while Stolas knows its illegal, he probably does not see it as wrong. And it makes sense given what we know of him and his realm. His realm is knowledge, he doesn't like knowledge because of power, he likes bc he just likes to learn things. He was like this BEFORE he knew what his role in the family was. Paimon even looks at him weird for knowing things and saying them aloud as if "sharing" his power by mentioning it near their butler. Stolas doesn't want to get in trouble but if he loves Blitzø why wouldn't he a) try to learn him exactly as he is (see All 2 U) and b) share ALL that he has with him. why wouldn't he give him ALL that he has.
If they decide to lean on this and show what conflicts it causes, and I think it will given how they're pulling Stella and Striker together, I am rubbing my hands eagerly to see where it goes. And also to see how Ozzie and Bee react and start acting, because there's still two entire seasons to see where they go as characters, their stories aren't yet done

I'll try to divide this into 2 parts. First part using game codex entries, other DA canon media, etc to refute points or counter points. Second to point out how some of these points are due to personal interpretations differing. So basically... let's use "facts" for most of the first half and "opinions" in the second. No guarantee that'll work out as I type this but that's the goal at least.
"Solas already knows who Rook is. He doesn't need much time to know who Rook is, it's not a problem for him." Ok but he doesn't. He thinks he does. He thinks he has Rook all pinned down. It's why he doesn't expect Rook to escape the Prison of Regret but Rook does. Solas is convinced that all of his manipulation to get Rook to drown in regret is enough to keep them trapped in that prison. In his pride, he doesn't expect Rook to escape. He once again doesn't expect Rook to see through his final betrayal about the veil. He also doesn't expect Rook to have enough cards by the end to stop him (which is conditional based on what you do in the game)
"If Cassandra rebuilds the Seekers, she is able to deal with emerging cults and unrest quite swiftly (according to the endings)." The ending slide literally says "showing no interest in worldly affairs" - Are you thinking of a different ending slide? Or a different quote? I honestly don't remember this being mentioned at all and can't find any reference to it. Cassandra also spent time in the Hunterhorn Mountains north of Orlais, where she worked to rebuild the Seekers. For a time, the new Seekers remained reclusive, showing no interest in worldly affairs and working to a purpose few outside their order could guess.
"Also, Friends of the Red Jenny are implied to operate throughout the entire Thedas and have quite a history (they've been mentioned since DA:O). So, for them not to be mentioned at all during the events makes no sense." They started as an organization based out of Ferelden and expanded to (areas that we know) Kirkwall, Orlais, Starkhaven, Tantervale, and Nevarra. They're not described as a powerful global organization. They're peppered throughout Thedas where they can get a foothold. We don't have proof or any mention of them being a thing in Tevinter or Antiva.
"Venatori should not even be a thing. Venatori rose to power only because of the Corypheus" The Venatori at their core are a cult of Tevinter-Mage Supremacists. That ideology doesn't just vanish or appear suddenly. The ideology is deeply rooted in the Tevinter Imperium. Even Dorian points out that many magisters still privately support the Venatori's ideas. While they won't outright sanction it. The Venatori's power increase may be directly tied to Corypheus but these ideologies have been present in Tevinter for a long ass time.
"So, at best there should be some Venatori cults present - but they won't be having that much power because they no longer have structure, they no longer have their god-magister, and they have nothing to sway magisters on their side - especially if they failed to provide any alternative to Corypheus in 10 years and went back to worshipping the Old Gods. [...] To make them the main problem is lazy writing." I don't think we need to get into a lesson on power vacuums here but let's just use the definition of "when someone in a place of power, has lost control of something and no one has replaced them." With Corypheus gone there is a power vacuum. A cult of fanatics don't just say "oh well, guess we'll go home now." According to Tevinter Nights (which the franchise being a mixed-media franchise has it's own problems), while a lot distanced themselves from the Venatori there were still a good number of loyalists who remained active. This leads to Aelia trying to fill in that role. She does gain a decent amount of support for it. Even when she's "captured" she has enough sway to escape prison and cause problems. Why? Because the Venatori's ideology is appealing to a lot of people in Tevinter even if they don't directly associate with the cult. However, with her "failure" we have another power vacuum present - so why is it "lazy writing" to have the emergence of another powerful mage that speaks like Corypheus and offer power similarly to what he did fill that?
"It makes no sense for the Venatori to be the main bad guys because the entire Tevinter fucking sucks already. It's has a horrible, hedonistic and power-obsessed ruling class where dominating the weak is considered good manners. Dorian should be having his hands full by fighting the entire Senate on such concepts as "slavery is bad" and "we should treat non-mages as people" - because Tevinter abhors change and its power is full of assholes like Aurelian Titus. The Venatori are just one shade of ugly the Tevinter has - and not the most prominent one." The supremacist ideology of the Venatori embody everything you're saying here. The examples you're giving are all part of the supremacist mindset. Hedonistic and power-obsessed ruling class? Yep. "Slavery is bad" and "we should treat non-mages as people" Those two concepts are directly against the supremacists ideology. We also do get some notes from Dorian doing just that Veilguard. The Venatori isn't just one shade of ugly, it's the embodiment of everything wrong in Tevinter. It's the supremacist ideology given form.
"Yes, it makes sense for Varric and Harding to take part in the search for Solas - but I can't believe that Rook at least hadn't been approved by the Inquisitor. and that Rook doesn't have means to contact the Inquisitor for further instructions in case something happens to Varric, or Harding or both of them. This is counter-productive." Varric is the one tasked with forming a small team. It's his responsibility to form that team and onboard people and vet them. With the way it's framed in "The Missing" Varric had full authority to bring on whoever. He didn't need approval. They kept in touch via Charter and sent correspondence to the Inquisitor but there wasn't any need for approval. Varric is the main path and Harding is the back up. That's 2 channels. Until the incident happens to Varric that seems standard. When the incident happens with Varric, then I believe Harding should have introduced Rook and the Inquisitor sooner to keep that practice of a back up channel open. Harding does reach out to Charter pretty early to inform them about what happened to Varric and mention Rook. I would have liked an Inquisitor meeting or letter sooner though.
I think below is where different interpretations come in.
"Solas knows how Leliana and Josephine operate, but that's not going to stop them - and it should not stop them when the fate of the world is at stake." You think they wouldn't let that stop them. I think they're smart enough to not continue to play an active part if any information they get or send off is information Solas is spoon feeding them. If their continued involvement would cause more harm then good then yea, I think they would take a step back. I think they would hand off the reigns to others.
"However, it's going to be insanely ha[r]d to prove the threat to anyone else and then tell them to go find Solas. At the same time, intentionally holding back information about what Solas really is means sending the "someone Solas doesn't know" to their death. They go after Solas, thinking it's just a really strong mage - and they don't know that it's actually an ancient god." Given Varric's line to Neve at the beginning, Varric is upfront with the information: "I also told you he was an ancient elven god." Whether the person believes them is dependent on the person. Rook has been tracking Solas with Varric for a year or so. I think by now they've witnessed enough to believe Varric's information.
"And she is going to stop now, after it's revealed that the threat isn't gone? There is no way she won't be an active participant. Even the fact that Seekers aren't welcome isn't going to stop her." I do actually think that the threat of severe political consequences should a southern religious military group make moves in a northern territory under a different religion would dissuade her. Cassandra isn't stupid. We also see her get less rash in Inquisition. We see her stop and think things through more. So actually, yes I do think that since mobilizing Seekers in Northern territory could at worse be seen as an act of war she would let it stop her. She even says at the end of trespasser "we need to be careful."
"Basically, it meant that the Inquisitor and their allies were going to try harder, learn what they can and find new resources, new information, any leverage possible. This is why the Inquisitor sets their course for Tevinter at the end of Trespasser: they were preparing to cooperate with a controversial state, pulling strings and calling favors, finding people with an ample knowledge of magic and ancient history that could assist them with finding any clues;"
L: "My agents have found nothing with the eluvians he could be anywhere"
C: [Dialogue about whether you disbanded or kept the Inquisition]
L: "We have what we truly need."
C: "We will need to be careful."
L: "Solas knows everything about us. Who we are. How we work. Our strengths and weaknesses"
Inky: "Then we find people he doesn't know." [Dialogue about if you are saving him or stopping him]
I do think this means they were going to find new allies and new people. Tevinter Imperium is a good place to start looking for that. And all this plays out through the comics and Harding and Varric's stories. (which again making the series Mixed-media has it's own complications) They do find new allies through their journey. They do find people who have ample knowledge of magic and ancient history. This idea also continues to play out in Veilguard. We find someone who has connections. We find someone who has ample knowledge of ancient magics and history. We find someone who has ample knowledge of the fade since that's what Solas was directly trying to manipulate.
I do not think it implicitly means what you've interpreted it to. I think that's how you interpreted that and I think that's a valid interpretation of it. Unfortunately that's not where they took it. That's also now how I interpreted it. I think a lot of the fandom interpreted this in different ways and that leads to disappointment if their interpretation wasn't correct. I think that's what's happening to you here. I don't think Bioware not catering to your interpretation means "they don't care." or anything like that. I think it's just that what you predicted or assumed based on the information provided ended up being incorrect. Other people predicted it correctly. If anything this just means that the marketing team could have done better at setting expectations and making sure everyone was on the same page.
oh my god that was a lot to type.
I don't think the game is perfect by any standards (no game is). There are things I wish they could have included or flushed out more, but I don't think any of that was done by Bioware devs "not caring." I think the Bioware team does actually really love their world and lore of Dragon Age. To quote their artbook (which is actually insane to look at):
"Art books like this one are the perfect opportunity to showcase what you don't see in the finished product: the inspiration, the blueprints, the unused drafts. We barked up a lot of wrong trees. We explored some wild directions--some ending in dead ends, others ending in precious treasure. We also created a lot of material that we liked but didn't have the capacity to build (in this game, anyway)."
If Bioware truly didn't love and care for their world and lore, the artbook wouldn't be as beautiful and jam packed as it is. There wouldn't be other medias of the series: books, comics, animations, movies.
But Bioware can't just make whatever they want. Bioware is owned by EA (not just published through them. OWNED by them). Bioware has to pay people to make the games. They need to get the funding and approval from EA to do so. This means that no matter how passionate the team is, there's only so much they can do and EA gets a huge say in what that is. EA who explicitly stated earlier AFTER BG3 released that they don't think single player story based games are worth investing in. WHICH IS INSANE TO ME. EA had them start developing the game one way. EA had them change development midway. EA had them remove all multiplayer pieces. EA cut funding to Bioware forcing them to make cuts in staff.
I guess if we say that a lot of the post is us disagreeing on how things are interpreted and not a misunderstanding of the source material then I can say my main problem with posts like this is that it targets the developers. The developers do seem to really love and care for their world and do want to do more, but they can't do it all. They can't just do everything they want. They have a parent company constantly controlling what they can and can not do. I could agree with a lot more posts if they actually targeted the company causing a lot of the problems, EA - WHO WE ALL ALREADY KNOW IS A SHIT MONEY HUNGRY COMPANY. Instead of the Devs who busted their asses for 10 years wanting to do more and being told to change it or scrap it at every turn.
Bioware writing team has a comfy, sheltered life and it shows
I'm sorry, but how come that the only people Inquisitor sent to look for Solas were Varric and Harding? How come that the only people recruited in 10 years of pursuing Solas were Neve and Rook? Do the writers understand that this is NOT how a serious effort looks like?
What about Leliana? Divine or not, she is still Sister Nightingale with an immense spywork. You'd think she won't mobilize everything she has to track Solas and his followers?
What about Josephine? What, she decided "nah, I'm done" and didn't use any of her diplomatic talents and connections to let the Inquisitor's agents have access, permissions or information they need?
What about Dorian? As a political figure, you'd think he will be the first Minrathous contact for the Inquisitor allies, the one arranging things and providing insights?
What about Cassandra and her Seekers? Isn't she interested in stopping another world-ending threat?
What about Sera and her sabotaging potential? If she organized the group of people for performing vigilante acts, people who are her eyes and ears, how come nobody from her group is helping with the effort?
I get it why Varric takes part in it - he knew Solas, the Inquisitor trusts him and his judgement, but for the game to imply that all the responsibility was lumped on Varric's shoulders is fucking disgraceful. I get it writers, Varric is popular character, and you would use him as bait to your heart's content, but the context you've created implies that Varric might have been the only one to take the threat seriously, while the Inquisitor and the rest were doing God knows what.
Varric should have been handing the Rook information on all the contacts they can recruit, all the useful agents, all the people to work with, not tell them to ask Neve because she might know someone because detective (Neve is a good character, but the fact that people who were supposed to spend 10 years chasing Solas look up to her for finding them contacts is appalling).
"Oh, but all these people were in the previous parts and we don't want to mention previous parts because muh new players" - well, you shot yourselves in the foot. Maybe, just maybe, you should have AT LEAST cared more about the choices made in DAI.

a/n : had this idea long long ago and finally had time to finish it and thankyou @doll3tt33 your invisible string colin! bot still one of my fav. say i have no idea how forensic and police work i just thought this makes sense so lol just ignore it lmao. this is purely fluff and awkward uninteresting whatever only use y/n for once also apologies if theres any grammatical errors english isnt my first. sorry. i love colin zabel.
every time you cope with all the paperwork, your mind is filled with various worries. well, it's nothing new for you because as always, you just want everything to be easier, though it'll almost occupying your mind all week. this is the moment you realize that one of the papers your team is trying to identify is missing. or maybe it's misplaced? how many times have you flipped through that document?
you let out a deep sigh, hoping to relax your mind a bit. if it's really gone, the only option is to ask for a copy of the document that detective colin zabel brought this morning. you don't even know who he is. just a name in a card. maybe you'll send him an e-mail or just go right to the station? It's not a big deal, really, it's just that you want your document to be nice and neat.
the clock ticking sounds too damn loud— it's too late to continue. there's no reason to stay any longer, so you decide to go home. you shut down your computer and lock the lab door. the night is cold and the fog melt obsecured the figure behind every window, though your throat feels so hot and dry. as you walk down the stairs, there are still a few people lingering in the building, and you find yourself standing in front of the vending machine.
colin is busy with his phone whilst sipping a can of dr. pepper. he glances at you as you stand there for a while. eventually, your eyes meet with his.
stranger. no smile or anything.
colin returns his focus to his phone, and you realize you've been holding a can of dr. pepper.
a few days later, you decide to visit a coffee shop that just had its grand opening. it feels good and sipping a cup of coffee makes you sober, and as sober mean a horrible thought accured to you. shitty missing document. there’s still no reply from detective colin zabel to your e-mail. it's unbelievable how a nice coffee only exists to be sabotaged by a small trouble on your thought.
and there he is. a man at the vending machine. you discreetly glance at him while he holds his coffee and seems to recognize you as well. no smile, he just leaves without saying a word.
do you believe in fate? now you do cause you accidentally run into him, again, while you do your grocery. this time, your eyes meet for almost five seconds until you decide to smile at him. he returns your smile and then continues walking.
is that it? you wish you could just bump your cart into him and say hi.
a few weeks later, you finally meet him again under a better circumstances— at emily’s wedding— your friend’s wedding.
“may i?” that’s the first time you hear his voice, friendly and gentle, he aims the chair beside you. you turn to him and see him smiling with dimples on his cheeks. gosh he’s beautiful.
“sure,” you take a deep breath and began to adjust your sit for no reason. fuck. you know that you're gonna make this awkward.
“you here for emily?” he asks, sitting comfortably with his legs crossed.
“yeah,” you nod. “how do you know?” you furrow your brow with suspicious look while he just shrugs and smiles.
“i just guessed. i saw you talking to her a lot.”
“a lot, huh.” you both laugh. sure, you talked to emily a lot, or was he just watching you a lot? “what about you?”
“i’m here for brad,” ah... the groom’s friend. “a colleague.”
that reminds you of your conversation with brad, where you asked about detective colin zabel, who hadn’t responded to your e-mail. but brad just said the detective was busy. maybe you could ask this man.
“oh, so.... you’re a cop?” you nod, confirming your assumption.
“something like that, yeah,” he scratches the back of his neck, which you’re a hundred percent sure doesn’t itch. this was fair enough. now it makes you less worried you might ruined it because you too damn awkward.
“cool. and i’ve seen you… a few times before.”
“yeah,” he chuckles, “we’ve bumped into each other.... a few times.”
there’s a brief moment of silence, with neither of you saying a word. only the sound of breathing and the slow music revolves around. so, you decide to open the conversation again.
“do you know detective colin zabel?” you ask, turning your head to him. colin's heart skips a beat when you mention his name, and he looks at you with a silly grin.
“yeah... yes, i do. what about it?”
“oh nothing," you keep your eyes to your feet before you continue. "it’s just that i sent him an e-mail a few weeks ago." here you go, sort of like an easy shortcut to just blabbering about your work to stranger. a bad habit. "well, i don’t know him but i work at the forensic lab and i was sorting through some documents. it seems like one got misplaced in the copy i sent to him. brad said he’s always busy.”
“oh…” colin's face suddenly turns red, and he vaguely remembers the document.
“is he always that busy?” you ask.
“….yeah, always. uh yeah… not really,” colin responds shortly.
“it’s been weeks, and i’ve e-mailed him three times with no reply. i dont know, it shouldn't be hard to be a little..... cooperative?" the last word came out like whisper yet playful and your words made colin laugh a bit strange. wow.. he is having fun. “called dick for a reason i guess,” you say it nonchalantly and it makes colin laugh harder this time. you can’t help but laugh with him.
“yeah, uncooperative dick,” he nods. it’s almost funny to you that you hope this conversation will lead to both of you guys rambling about work. wow adulthood.
“see?” your eyes search his eyes excitingly, as if you wait for him to continue. “are all detective like that?”
colin shook his head without saying anything. he studied your face without even realize it could make you uncomfortable. you inhale deeply when eyes to eyes connected, heat start to creep your cheeks.
“sorry, i uh… i didn’t mean to....vent?”
“nah, it’s okay, no worries.” he shakes his head sheepishly. “i’ll make sure he replies to your e-mail tomorrow.”
“really?”
“really.”
his eyes are so dark yet comforting.
“thanks. i’m y/n, by the way.”
“i’m colin. colin zabel.”

and that’s it. wish you can just run away fast and leave the earth. embarrassment weighs heavily on your mind and your smile disappeared instantly.
“you’re joking.”
“am not.”
“oh god.”
you lower your head and hide your face in the palm of your hands, as you try to cover up your sin. “hey, it’s fine. sorry for being uncooperative… dick,” he’s still chuckling, and there was a definite tone of teasing in it.
“jesus now you tell me,” you mumble.
“okay, okay now, listen to me.” he tries to remove your hands from your face. “i’m—”
“wait. no, me. i am sorry” his big masculin hands enveloped yours and you found yourself blushing and so was shy to face him. you didn’t even realize you just interrupted him.
“well— okay, now we’re both sorry,” he nods reassuring and for a few seconds, his hand still holds yours. clearly this thick tension gonna be one of your newest core memory. probably his too?
“…so embarrassing.” you shake your head a little and murmur almost like to yourself.
“i know, but it’s nice to finally know you.”

falling in love with your best friend has got to take the cake for the ‘dumbest shit i’ve ever put myself through’ award, you think.
you didn’t mean for it to happen— of course not, and it all happened so quickly that you didn’t realize how deep you were in it until months later.
you and billie had became friends in an odd way, you knew someone who knew claudia and of course, billie did too— so the both of you mingled at her birthday party a couple years back, when the both of you were just shy of eighteen.
nobody could seperate the two of you if they tried, and that trait carried on with you and billie until you stepped into adulthood. moving in together seemed like such a good idea in the past— you two were tight, and billie wanted to live separately from her family now— it should’ve been so easy, right?
well no, of course not.
before meeting billie, you assumed that you were straight. but as teenagers, that when lines start to get blurred and things start to mess with your head, and you would sometimes catch yourself staring at her for a little too long, or your heart twisting whenever she texted you.
it killed you to fall in love with billie. it was painful and long, and with every day that passed— she only made it worse.
because she was billie eilish, she would unintentionally flirt with you, but that’s because she did it with everyone, of course she wasn’t going to treat you any differently. she always called you nicknames like ‘baby’ and ‘mama’, which wouldn’t have bothered you that bad if you understood the friendly connotations behind it. but you wanted her to be yours so damn badly, and every time she called you anything but your name, it made your skin fiery to the touch.
but the worst of the worst, god— the thing that’ll haunt you forever, was when she had kissed you in your shared apartment after your 20th birthday. compared to her at the time, you were much more innocent, and hadn’t hardly kissed anyone in your entire life. and with your own speculation that you may not be strictly into men, you had drunkenly asked her to take your ‘girl kiss virginity’ away, and she obliged like it was nothing.
you didn’t like the kiss at all. not because she wasn’t a good kisser— she was a damn good one, but it was because the kiss was deep and passionate, and her hands were roaming all over your body as one kiss turned to two, and two turned to three, and you don’t even know how long the both of you were wrapped in each other until she complained that she was tired and that she was going to go to sleep.
it made you feel like shit. she had slipped out of your room and left you lonesome, and you brushed your fingertips over your lips to try to make sense of what just happened. you had just made out with your best friend, which wasn’t the issue, the issue was that you liked it.
you eventually had to pick a side, if you were going to let your little crush get in the way of friendship, or if you were just going to sweep all of those romantic feelings under the rug. and that’s exactly what you did— you pretended like it didn’t hurt when she would get into relationships, or come to you asking for help to plot on someone she wanted to be with.
you were just being a good best friend by helping her out. she would always ask you why you didn’t ever date, and you just made up some lame excuse about how that wasn’t what interested you. which wasn’t entirely a lie, it didn’t interest you, because only she did.
in current time, it’s half past two in the morning when billie stumbles through the door of your shared apartment, keys jingling on her carabiner against her jean-clad thigh when her eyes meet yours. you’re sitting idle at the kitchen island with a bowl of cereal in your hand, clad in nothing but a pair of billie’s boxers and a lacy white tee. you shoot her an inquisitive look, “where have you been dude? it’s like, two in the fucking morning, and i’ve barely seen your face all day.”
she gives out a nonchalant shrug, closing the door with her foot, and you can just tell by her sluggish body language that she’s anything but sober. she’s smiling too much and not talking enough, and when billie gets like that, it’s usually because she’s had a couple of drinks.
you’ve been out all night, don’t know where you’ve been, youre slurring on your words, not making any sense— but i don’t fucking care.
“where have you been, billie?” you ask her, dropping your spoon in your empty bowl as you looked at her, waiting on your answer.
she’s moving so slow that it starts to piss you off, and she just gives you another drunken shrug with a wave of her hand, “don’t worry a-about it, mama, just..a l-little get together.”
the nickname that she gives you makes your skin crawl, and you slide off of your stool and grab your phone, placing your bowl in the sink without saying a word billie. you don’t have the energy to entertain her shit tonight, so you walk up the stairs quietly, slamming your room door in contrast to your silence.
you don’t expect her to bother you for the rest of the night, but billie being billie, she unsolicitedly opens your bedroom door, leaning against the door frame with one arm resting above her head, the other at her side, holding a cup of juice.
“what did you do…tonight?” billie’s words are choppy, and you try your best to not pay any mind to her. usually when she’s drunk, you’d take such good care of her, getting her into comfier clothes and letting her sleep in your bed. but you were irritated now, and you tried your best to fight the urge to be your usual, hospitable self.
“nothing, i waited on your ass to get back so i could sleep.” you responded coldly to her, walking over to your dresser to grab a hoodie to slip on. your eyes scanned the array of clothing, and you bit your lip when you realized that all the clean hoodies you had belonged to billie.
you pretended like it didn’t bother you and grabbed a gray essentials hoodie, pulling it over your head and fixing the hood, “i’m gonna go to sleep, so…”
billie sunk into the oak wood of your door, and of course, when you turn your head for five seconds, she slips and falls straight to the floor.
“fuck!”
you quickly whipped your head around, and you wanted so badly tonight to just keep to yourself and not deal with billie’s shenanigans, but you couldn’t control yourself as you ran over to her, kneeling down and grabbing her face. her eyes were closed like she was asleep, and you tapped her cheek lightly but frantically, “bils? talk to me, are you awake?”
“i-i’m fine.” billie breathes out after a couple of moments, sitting up with her back pressed against the wall. she lets out a deep sigh that makes you let out one in relief.
even though you spoke against it at first, you were determined now to put her to bed safely. you offered her your water bottle that was on your dresser as you promised her that you’d be back, venturing out into the hallway and stepping into your bathroom.
you drew a hot bath for billie the way she liked it, leaving a change of clothes on the toilet, paired with a towel.
your blood was pumping adrenaline through your veins so hard that you could feel it heat your forehead. you weren’t even angry anymore— you just felt weak now, upset with the fact that billie always seemed to have this hold over you.
you loved her too much. it was becoming an issue now, but there wasn’t anything you could do or say, so the only option you had was to stay silent and suck it up. and although it hurt, really damn badly, those were your only options.
so you walked back into your bedroom and helped billie to the tub that waited for her, helping her strip out of her clothes that reeked of burberry perfume and tequila. her shirt was now discarded on the floor along with her pants, and the only thing she was in now was her bra and underwear.
of course, billie being your best friend— you’ve seen her naked plenty of times, but it still shocks you a little when she slips out of her undergarments, sinking into the bathtub, resting her head on the side of it.
“will you stay and talk to me?” billie murmurs, a little more sober now, and you nod silently, sitting crossed legged on the floor next to her.
it takes everything in you not to kiss her right now. she’s resting her head on her arms and looking at you with soft, tired eyes, her eyelashes drooping as she fought against sleep. her lips were pink and a little swollen, and she parts them to whisper lowly, “i’m….sorry.”
“sorry for what, billie?”
silence hangs in the air for a second until you hear her move in the water, taking a loofah and lavender scented body wash. she starts with her arms, head leaned against the wall behind her, “such a mess. i am— i-i’m sorry that you…have to put up with my shit.”
“it’s okay.” you mutter silently, “i do it because i love you.”
that makes billie smile, yet she’s got no idea that the love you’re describing is so much deeper than either of you could ever imagine. but you mask it well, flashing her a fake and small smile, throwing your head back to rest it on the toilet seat lid.
you honestly start to fall asleep until you hear the water drain, and billie grabs her towel and clothes behind you as you rub your eyes, jolting awake.
there’s no talking between the two of you. you just wait until she’s done putting on her t-shirt and sweats and when she’s ready, you lead her back to your bedroom instead of her own. you didn’t trust her to be alright on her own, so you let her sleep in your bed.
when you turn all of the lights off, billie climbs into bed next to you, her face so close to yours that your noses are almost touching.
her hand touches yours for a brief moment, “thank you…for always taking c-care…of me. i love you, y/n.”
billie falls asleep before you can even reply, and you eventually do the same, a tear slipping down your cheek silently.
the morning after is quiet, too quiet. the kind of quiet that presses against your chest and makes you want to scream just to break it. billie is still asleep when you wake up, her face turned toward you, the sunlight peeking through the blinds casting lines across her freckled skin. her lips are slightly parted, her breathing soft, and it makes your chest ache in that stupid way it always does when you look at her for too long.
you slide out of bed as carefully as you can, trying not to wake her, but even in her sleep, she stirs when you move. her hand stretches out to the space you just left, searching for you instinctively. it’s not fair how effortlessly she makes you feel like you belong to her, even when she doesn’t mean to.
the kitchen is the only refuge you have. you busy yourself making two cups of coffee, your hands shaking just enough to make it hard to pour the water into the machine. every sound feels too loud—the clink of the mug against the counter, the hum of the coffee pot, the low groan of the fridge door as you open it. your head is swimming with the memory of last night—her drunk apologies, the way her voice broke when she called herself a mess, and how much you wanted to hold her and never let go.
but you can’t. because she doesn’t love you like that.
she shuffles into the kitchen a while later, her hair a mess and her hoodie hanging off one shoulder. she looks like chaos wrapped in comfort, and it’s unfair how effortlessly beautiful she is. she rubs her eyes, leaning against the doorway as she watches you. “morning, mama,” she says, her voice still scratchy from sleep.
you don’t even bother correcting her nickname this time. it’s a battle you’ll never win. “morning,” you mutter, sliding a mug of coffee across the counter toward her.
she takes it, wrapping her hands around the warm ceramic, and gives you a soft smile. it’s the kind of smile that would make anyone else’s heart flutter, but for you, it just feels like a weight. “you didn’t have to do all that for me last night, you know,” she says quietly, her eyes downcast.
“it’s fine, billie,” you reply, your voice more clipped than you intend. “you were drunk. i couldn’t just leave you like that.”
she frowns, her brow furrowing like she’s trying to figure you out. “are you mad at me?”
you laugh bitterly, shaking your head. “no, billie. i’m not mad at you. i’m mad at….myself.”
her frown deepens, and she sets the mug down on the counter. “but why? you didn’t do anything wrong.”
her response makes you want to scream. you want to tell her everything, every little thought that’s been eating away at you for months, years even. but instead, you bite your tongue, because you can’t risk losing her. so you lie, like you always do. “forget it. it’s nothing.”
she doesn’t believe you—of course she doesn’t. but she doesn’t push, which almost makes it worse. because deep down, you wish she cared enough to dig. you wish she could see past the walls you’ve built up and realize that every time you look at her, it feels like your heart is breaking all over again.
the day passes in a blur of nothingness. billie spends most of it curled up on the couch, scrolling through her phone and occasionally singing along to whatever song is playing softly in the background. you try to distract yourself with chores, cleaning the apartment until your hands are raw from scrubbing. but no matter how much you busy yourself, your thoughts always circle back to her.
it’s late when she finally speaks again, her voice cutting through the silence like a knife. “do you ever feel like you’re…stuck?”
you glance up from where you’re folding laundry, startled by the vulnerability in her tone. “stuck how?”
“like…like you’re not where you’re supposed to be. like you’re waiting for something to happen, but it never does.”
your throat tightens, because that’s exactly how you’ve felt since the day you realized you were in love with her. “yeah,” you admit quietly. “i know what that feels like.”
she doesn’t say anything else, but her eyes meet yours across the room, and for a moment, it feels like she’s trying to tell you something without words. but then she looks away, and the moment is gone.
later, when she’s fallen asleep on the couch, you sit beside her, watching the rise and fall of her chest. the lyrics to “idfc” play in your head like a cruel mantra: “tell me pretty lies, look me in my face, tell me that you love me even if it’s fake.”
you reach out, brushing a strand of hair from her face, your fingers lingering for just a second too long. “i love you, billie,” you whisper, your voice barely audible over the sound of her breathing.
but she doesn’t hear you. and maybe that’s for the best. because no matter how much it hurts, you’ll keep pretending. you’ll keep being her best friend, her safe place, even if it kills you. because as much as you wish she could love you back, you’d rather have her like this than not at all.
and so you sit there, the weight of your unspoken feelings pressing down on you, and you let the tears fall silently, knowing that tomorrow, nothing will have changed.

One detail about the Your New World ending that I can't get over is how it specifically avoids using the phrase [Slay the Princess].
The red-text dialogue options describe killing her, ending her, destroying her, ridding yourself of her, putting her down, not needing her, and so on, but never, ever, slaying her. Your final choice is to [Destroy her], and afterwards the text simply reads "she's gone".
The choice of wording seems very intentional, right? The game's literally called "Slay the Princess", and the act of killing her is described using those terms for the vast majority of the game. So what does its absence mean for this ending?
My first thought was that it was because you didn't use the Pristine Blade to end her. The lack of blade might play a part in it (as I'll expand on later), but there are already a few cases where you get the option to [Slay the Princess] without the blade, like trying to slay the Shifting Mound before the vessels appear, or slaying the Fury with nothing in Contrarian!Fury. There's something more here, I think.
The choice of words could also represent the emotional separation between you and the Narrator. In this ending, the Narrator is irrelevant to you. He’s “a lesser thing that could never hope to understand you”, an obstacle to your awakening. Your final monologue spares no thought for the well-being of the people inside the world, who the Narrator sacrificed everything in hopes of saving.
Contrast this with A New and Unending Dawn, where you do actually [Slay the Princess] using the Pristine Blade given to you by His construct. You quote the Narrator directly if He told you about you and her containing parts of each other, and you generally can be much more sympathetic towards Him even after His obliteration.
In Your New World, even though you technically destroyed her like He had wanted, you didn't Slay her. You didn't do this for Him, or for His world: you did it for you, and for Your world. You cut yourself off from understanding Him, just as you cut yourself off from understanding Her.
In a similar vein, I think the choice of words could also represent a separation from the terms of the game itself.
Slay the Princess is a game filled with repeating symbols and choices: woods, cabin, blade, basement, chains. Slaying her, or freeing her. Narrator or Princess. Dying and restarting and dying and restarting. Even at the end of everything, these same ideas return: you can choose to leave the cabin with her, slay her, return to the beginning, and so on. (it's a very cohesive narrative like that)
But by seeking out this ending, you're breaking the boundaries of what's typically possible in this game. You're not slaying her, and you're definitely not leaving with her. You don't go to the cabin, you don't find the blade, you don't get "outside help".
The whole game is centered around learning about the Princess and yourself through your shared experiences and developing relationship, but to get this ending is to reject any meaning the vessels may have had to you, and thus to reject her role in the game's narrative.
Meanwhile, by not Slaying the Princess, you reject the Narrator and the construct itself, the construct that was built from nothing in order for you to complete that single task, the construct that constantly limits your choices. In this ending, you reject all the choices that were given to you by the game's typical structure and make your own, new choice.
The game constantly reminds you that you'll need the Pristine Blade in order to stab her in the heart: you'll need it if you want to do this right. But what if you're not interested in "doing this right"? What if instead, you choose to do something cruel to those around you (and cruel to yourself) for the sake of exerting agency in a construct where agency is taken from you?
As the Shifting Mound herself says in response to tossing the Cage's head: "That act was your final assertion of will over chains".
For better or worse, there is nothing and no one left to chain you down (except for you).

Tony knew he'd screwed up, but he also really didn't feel badly for it. Oh, he felt badly that Larsa seemed so shaken by what he'd said, but there was absolutely no way he could have known that all the Ivalicians were hiding this from him. If they didn't want him to know, they really should have disclosed that to him well before now. Rationalization was a poor replacement for guilt, but Tony tried anyway.
"Uh... no," he answered Larsa. "Your genetics are quite clear, actually. So's his. There's literally a one in one thousand chance he's not your dad. 99.9% chance he is. Have you learned percentages yet? How old are you again? Well... It's... There's no question about it," he proceeded to ramble.
"Tony," Natasha said, in disbelief that he was digging himself deeper.
"What?!" Tony replied, feeling the pressure of having changed the entire energy of the room. "What do you want me to do, lie to the kid like everyone else in this room apparently has?!"
"This is one of those times when you should stop talking," Natasha said very slowly and seriously, her arms folding.
"Right," Tony said.
Drace, by now, had set aside her salad and rose to go to Noah, who was beginning to sweat and hyperventilate. The moment Larsa had spoken Amoretta's name, Drace had looked to Noah, seeing his gaze lose focus and his body language begin to shut down. A panic attack had begun to follow, and the last thing she wanted was for him to show the depths of his trauma to his son, brother, and every other soul in this room. And yet... she could not abandon Larsa either...
Seeing the conflict on Drace's face, Natasha stepped in. She had no idea why Noah was panicking, but she knew PTSD when she saw it. "If you wanna get him outta here," she said lowly to Drace, nodding in Noah's direction, "I'll make sure Larsa's okay."
"Thank you," Drace said, grateful for the help in managing this situation. "Come, Gabranth," she said softly, a hand at his back gently pushing him towards the exist.
Tears came to Noah's eyes and he was shaking. Even through his panic and triggering thoughts of Amoretta, his greatest thought was of protecting his son. "Sorry..." he said, though his voice had little breath to it. "S-sorry. I'm... so sorry..." he said, reaching out a hand to Larsa, but not daring to touch him.
Now was not the time for this. Gabranth needed to collect himself first, Larsa needed to calm down, and they needed to have privacy, not have the entire compound gawking at them. "Not now," Drace whispered to Gabranth. "We shall all talk later."
Noah had to let that be enough, because he was in no condition to hash any of this out right now. Amoretta was there, waiting for him just behind his eyelids when he closed his eyes. He gripped Drace's arm with strength that would probably leave her bruised. She cared not as she ushered him away.
"What is wrong with Gabranth?" Ashelia sked, also knowing full well what a panic attack looked like.
"I do not know, princess," Basch whispered.
"It is true? Is he Larsa's father?" Ashe asked.
"We ought not to speculate, my lady. Come," he said, standing and gesturing for Ashelia to follow him. If he could not stop her questions, then he ought to remove her from the situation. This... was best handled in private... on both sides.
Ashelia let Bashc take her away, even though she was so immensely curious. The atmosphere in the room had become uncomfortable, and Ashelia felt... on edge, though she could not place why. Little did she know that she was reacting to the surge of Mist that had begun to move within Noah the moment he was angered by Tony and triggered by Larsa's mention of Amoretta.
"Hey..." Natasha said gently, kneeling down to put herself more at Larsa's height. "There may... be a chance that the lab made a mistake. Sometimes these things happen, okay?" She knew it was no mistake, but she was trying to manage the boy's distress at the moment. "So we'll go ahead and verify those tests, and we'll get to the bottom of this for you. It'll be okay, just stay calm, alright?" She gave one of his shoulders a little rub. "Tony? Can you tell the lab to repeat whatever tests made you start commenting on things that aren't your business today?"
Tony sighed. "Yeah. Sure. FRIDAY?"
"Yes, boss?"
"Repeat the associated statistics for the blood panels and order a paternity test panel for Larsa Solidor and Noah Gabranth down at Genetics, will you, please?"
"Sure thing, boss."
After a moment, Tony couldn't help but ask, "But... if he is your dad... would that be such a bad thing? I mean... you seem to like the guy."
"Are you talking again, because I thought that maybe you'd-" Nat began to say.
"Yeah, fine," Tony said.
Larsa did not expect to be unfrozen at all, let alone in the future. When he had snuck upon Gabranth's ship set for Pharos he did it to ensure the peace would be possible. The last thing he remembered was running towards fallen Gabranth and then... Light. (Marvel AU) - tarnishedxjudgement

Noah didn't have the same abilities and resources in this time period with which to inform himself of anything and everything that was going on around him. He was in the dark, most of the time, unless directly informed of things, a condition he hated. Being at the mercy of others he neither knew nor trusted for information was not a position he usually found himself in.
It was the reason he hadn't known about Drace being found after him until she was brought one day to the training compound. Inexplicably, after executing her in his own timeline, here she was again, seemingly from another. The entire experience was wholly jarring, but not nearly as jarring as losing his only son.
So often had Noah thought of Larsa in the months following his revival in this strange time. Thoughts invaded his peace, his sleep, his ability to function, until he found himself so erratic and unhinged that he did not recognize himself anymore. Even Drace found it difficult to comfort him, and she had always been a master of that feat. There was no closure to be had, no second chances, no going back... and that knowledge was eating Noah alive from the inside out.
But once again, information had been kept from him, and yet another arrival from Ivalice to the Avengers compound was neither expected nor necessarily wanted. Would it be another Dalmascan? Gods forbid a Rozarrian. And the way the people of this time seemed to think that all Ivalicians got along and would be happy to see each other was beyond irritating to him. Nevertheless, when he was specifically summoned to greet this newcomer, Noah begrudgingly left his quarters to do so.
What he saw... stopped him dead in his tracks. Within seconds, his expression betrayed him, and within a few more, he was on his knees, his legs giving way in disbelief of the sight that lay before him. It was little Lord Larsa, looking just as he did when last Noah laid eyes on him, perfect as can be.
He knew he should say something, but words betrayed him as well as his own legs had. Instead, he merely stared, the absence of his helm serving to display to the boy all the shock, confusion, and relief at seeing him standing there. Finally, he forced out the only two words he felt he could say without falling apart.
"My lord..."

IT’S TIME TO TALK ABOUT THIS RIDICULOUS SHIP.
Y’all said you’d be interested in a post like this, so I’m here to deliver.
Tilly and Fellow spend the first year of knowing each other sabotaging the other’s life. Fellow and Gidel are running a scam? There Tilly is to ruin it! Tilly’s been tricking a local clothing store into giving him items? Well, Fellow’s given his photo to the local police and now he can’t “shop” there anymore. The two have a job? Well, Tilly is going to hang out during their shifts and bother them the whole time!
Tilly, for the most part, views this as a very fun game they’re playing. Fellow, however, HATES him. Why won’t this guy leave him alone?! Why is he determined to mess with him?!
Things start changing when Fellow picks up on certain things Tilly does, although it takes him a while to notice because he’s so blinded by annoyance.
First: how Tilly treats Gidel.
He frequently attempts to “steal” Gidel to his side, and in the process he gives him food, clothes and toys. Gidel never accepts, of course, but Fellow is still annoyed because that’s HIS brother!! He can’t take his brother!! But then Tilly keeps giving him stuff. I mean, he must know that all the food he’s giving is being split between the two of them, right? And then Fellow notices that Tilly brings them more food when he knows they’re running low. HOW he knows, they have no idea, but he does it too many times for it to just be a coincidence. Fellow has no idea why he’s doing this, either. Is it mockery? Pity? Whatever it is, it kind of pisses him off.
The second thing he notices about Tilly is his recklessness. While Fellow and Gidel have back up plans and ways to run away whenever they try to pull anything, Tilly apparently just walks into danger with no intention of getting out of it at all. I mean, what is he doing?! TRYING to get killed? Fellow may hate the guy, but he’s a source of food at this point, so… well, he supposes he can pull him out of danger sometimes. And it’s hard to hate the guy as much when he looks beat up, so it’s better for him to be in full health for maximum hatred, okay?!
The third thing he notices: Tilly’s weird considerate behavior.
It took a while to pick up on, but once Fellow sees it, he can’t get it out of his head. The guy spends half of his day playing with the street children, finding them food and shelter. He only steals from people he knows can afford it. He never does anything to him or Gidel if they can’t get out of it. He gives his food to other people even if he hasn’t eaten that day, he lets some of the kids pickpocket him even when he clearly knows what they’re doing, and on top of this all: Tilly is in NO position to be doing any of this!!! He’s not even staying anywhere, he sleeps in abandoned buildings or sometimes in people’s houses if he can trick them into it. He doesn’t even own a backpack full of belongings: he just walks into stores and changes clothes and then leaves. He’s not eating enough food, he’s not sleeping enough, he doesn’t have ANY self preservation and yet he has the AUDACITY to be kind to people?!
Nope, no, Fellow is NOT having a guy like THAT keep harassing him.
And suddenly, Tilly is staying with him and Gidel some nights. Not all the time, because he’s NOT dealing with his presence that often, but just… sometimes. And then they’re sharing food with him. And then he’s staying over MORE, and Tilly is sharing more things with them, too, and then suddenly they’re practically working together. But it’s just for survival, okay?! It’s the smart choice.
And then Fellow and Gidel get the job offer to Playful Land, and Tilly says no to joining them. He’s never worked a day in his life and he’s not going to start now, so… they go do the job alone. Tilly visits once, to see what they’re doing (and Fellow of course tries to turn him into a puppet, not permanently! Just to show him who’s better, okay?) and Tilly HATES it.
“Why are you working for some rich guy? You’re better than that.”
And it pisses Fellow off again, like EVERYTHING about Tilly, because what right does he have to say that? HE might be content having nothing, but FELLOW isn’t, and he should just leave if it bothers him that much—it’s too much effort looking after him all the time, anyways!
And for the first time Tilly looks actually hurt by something, and Fellow regrets saying it. But it’s over just as fast, and he’s back to normal, and he’s actually leaving. And he doesn’t come back. And neither of them hear from him.
Which is good! Fellow is VERY happy about this, of course. He was too troublesome to look after, and he was probably going to get himself killed one of these days anyways, and he wonders what he’s doing right now….. he’s probably in trouble right now, isn’t he? Is he eating fine? Where’s he sleeping? He better be actually sleeping in a building and not on the ground…
…Okay, so Fellow MIGHT care about the guy. Just a bit.

ok. really weird question here, feel free to ignore since its kinda weird/gross.
i'm freshly 18 by like a month now, my moms out of the picture and i don't have anybody i can really ask about vaginal health besides google.
i think i may have a yeast infection, but its not itchy downstairs. just the thick white discharge. its been going on for months now. i have no idea what i've got or if its normal, but would appreciate advice as you seem like the go-to for sex-ed/kink-ed on tumblr
what do i do?
Full disclaimer I am not a doctor, if you are seriously worried you should see a doctor.
Thick white discharge could mean any number of things, but if you are having no other symptoms it's more than likely JUST and I mean JUST your vagina cleaning itself. Sometimes discharge just looks like that, it's going to look different at different parts of your cycle and it's something that I find myself noticing MORE when it's in that specific part of my cycle.
If you're not itching, having pain/burning when you pea, or having any sort of change in smell(it'll smell yeast-y) then it's likely nothing to be worried about.
IF you are concerned but don't want to see a doctor: there are washes you can use to treat it over the counter, BUT these are designed to kill yeast and if you don't have a yeast infection, killing all the yeast down there(and there is supposed to be some) can mess with your PH and lead to things like bacterial infections.
I'm going to be so uncomfortably honest with you, I still get worried when I see thicker discharge, and I'm predisposed to thicker goo. I genuinely thought I had a years long infection for, well, years before I even learned what discharge was. This is one of those parts of sex-ed I wish was talked about in school because it would've saved me a LOT of stress.
Tl;dr you're probably fine, but if you start showing other PERSISTENT symptoms then absolutely look into free clinics to get checked out.

do you have any character design tips? all your characters look so cool and i struggle so hard with designing characters lol
hi yes !!!! okay okay so first off all of my characters are dnd characters, so i will start with going thru the list of races available and pick one that i think is cool or interesting.
the next thing i do is i come up with a theme. is this character based off of an animal ? does this character have a trope i want to explore ? is there a specific setting i want to make this character fit into ? these are all questions im asking myself
for example, this is my character mercy !!
i knew when i was making her my first idea was “i want a cowboy oc” !! I also knew i wanted a vampire character, i mashed the ideas together !
I thought to myself about cowboy media I had seen and enjoyed, and decided she would be based on one of my favorite movies, true grit (the 2010 version)
you may see the resemblance to the two main characters !! i picked different things from each character that i liked, most of her being based on the character on the left, with some elements of the one on the right. this gave me my “base” to work with !
I then started to think about outfits, my favorite part !!
I will always always always reccomend searching thru pinterest when designing a character. look at runway/ high fashion pics to get an idea for interesting sillhouettes. what is your characters ethnicity or time period ? look at historical clothing associated with either. look at pieces made by fashion students, find different elements that you think look interesting and make a list of what it is you particularly are drawn to. heres some images i gathered when i was designing mercy.
while not exact the vision was starting to come together !! this is the point where i start sketching, trying out different outfit combos and cycling thru the elements i listed before. Once i have a very basic sillhouette/idea of the outfit, this is when i start embellishing !!!!
for example, i liked the tassles on the hat, okay done, where else can i include tassles ? i considered the vest, but ultimately decided on the cuffs of the sleeves. the cool thing about that is the tassles from the hat coming down to the cuffs creates a triangle shape in the figure. This enforces a sillhouette and creates a balence to the design !!
I also liked the idea of an embroidered vest, and embroidery in general that is seen in a lot of cowboy outfits, i embraced that and brought in more embroidered details in the bag and the gun holster.
At this point I had my outfit sketched out ! then I went onto coloring !!! picking colors for a design is typically the hardest and most time consuming part for me, however with mercy i had a clear idea. I wanted to create a sepia color scheme, very neutral, to emulate old western photographs !! so thats what i went with ! lots of browns, brassy metal, black, and cream. I also knew she was a vampire, and knew I wanted to draw a lot of pieces with blood and thought the red would stand out white nicely from the neutral tones of her pallet :) (another cool thing to consider which i did not do for mercy is color langage and using certain colors with certain meanings to emphasize the theme)
With all of this done now, i had my design !!! after this point is where I make a series of sketches of the character to really get the hang of drawing them, different poses to figure out personality, things like that !! Things evolve over time of course, but usually my characters i am able to do a one and done type approach and rarely have to entirely scrap and redesign them. its all about having fun and learning what it is you want to see in the design of characters in media !!!

MCU Timeline: Iron Man 2. Part 1
Iron Man (2008) Timeline
The Incredible Hulk (2008) Timeline
This timeline is based on dates from the movie and not on Fury's Big Week (see the reason here).
Here's the classification of date consistency in the MCU Phase 1 (within the movies):
IM1, Thor, CA:TFA and The Avengers - good. Almost no issues.
The Incredible Hulk - some issues and a few barely visible wrong dates.
IM2 - absolute mess.
Let's start by finding out the month and year of the main events of the movie.
Month: May. What evidence we have: 1) one of the events is Tony's birthday, May 29; 2) The Monaco Grand Prix always takes place in May. The Historique races (which we see in the movie) take place before the main Grand Prix - in early May; 3) one of the screens in Tony's lab says it's May; 4) the weather and people's clothing also correspond to May.
Year: 2010. This is where things get really confusing. Because in the movie there are at least 3 versions of what year the events take place: 1) version of written sources (documents, computer screens) that consistently point to 2010; 2) Pepper Potts' version (IM1 took place "last year", which was February-May 2008, so IM2, she says, is May 2009); 3) Justin Hammer's version, who is absolutely sure that Tony became Iron Man only 6 months ago, so according to him it is November-December 2008, which contradicts everything else. Since most sources, as well as logic, point to 2010, this is the most likely version.
Now let's move on to the timeline.
The first f*ck up in the movie (chronologically): Anton Vanko's date of birth is mentioned once, and it is February 15, 1943. This is literally impossible. According to the same screen, in the early 1950s, Anton was already 20-30 years old and was a scientist at the Electrotechnical Institute in the USSR. More realistic year would be ~1925.
Early 1950s - Anton Vanko works on nuclear energy in the USSR.
October 1963 - Vanko defects from the USSR and seeks asylum in the United States.
Here we have the second f*ck up in props - the newspaper says 1966, but JARVIS said it's 1963, which is also confirmed by the date on Tony's screen. JARVIS's version is more realistic, so we'll go with that. And come on, Marvel. Citizenship right away? Why not the presidency?
June 26, 1967 - Anton is found guilty of espionage and deported.
August 2 or February 15, 1969 - Ivan Vanko is born.
Ivan's prison tattoo on his fingers is his birth year. There are several references to Ivan's birth date in the movie, and they are all different. So we'll use his tattoo, as it's a more reliable source. About the month and day - we have two options. The JARVIS search results give us 15.02, but as you may have noticed, this is the same day as Anton's birthday in the same search results. So I doubt that they were both born on the same day of the same month. The prop guys just put the same numbers in and forgot about it. Good f*cking job. Another possibility is the date on Vanko's fake passport - August 2. Since the document is fake, I have no idea if any of the dates on it are real. And it's unlikely that anyone would need his DOB anyway. Do we have any Ivan fans here?
~1970 - Anton Vanko is sent to Siberia for 20 years.
May 29, 1970 - Anthony Edward Stark is born 🎉
September 15, 1973 - Howard films the Intro to Stark Expo 1974 and the message for Tony.
1974 - the last Stark Expo until 2010.
~1990 - Anton is released and returns to Moscow.
December 2, 1993 - Ivan is sentenced to 15 years in prison for selling weapons-grade plutonium to Pakistan.
Late 1990s (before 2000) - Virginia Potts becomes Pepper, and Tony's PA.
May 25, 2008 - "I am Iron Man" press conference.
August 2008 - an article about Tony's arc reactor in Scientific American.
Note: There is a real issue of this magazine from August 2008 with the same articles except for the article on the arc reactor.
December 2008:
After serving 15 years, Ivan is released from prison.
Anton Vanko dies.
If anyone doubts that it's May in the screenshot, you're right. This is how winter looks like, not May. Yes, even in Russia, Marvel.
On TV they say Tony is giving the "I am Iron Man" press conference "Now", but this is impossible: 1) As we have established, it was on May 25, not in winter. 2) In Moscow it would be night (remember time zones). But we were clearly shown that it was daytime. 3) This is a live broadcast for CNN, not for Russian news. 4) It can't even be "Live" and "Breaking News" at the same time because he hasn't even said the words yet! Come on, Marvel. Logic was lost during the production of this movie.
So, based on the notes above, I conclude the following: 1) The news is not new. It is a recording. 2) The first scene takes place in December 2008.
A few days later - Ivan begins work on his arc reactor.
Here's the third f*ck up:
On the Forbes cover, which we already saw in IM1, the date "January 1990" appeared, which was not there before. But this is not the main issue. The main one is that Howard was still alive in 1990 and ran his company himself. So Tony could not "take reign at 21" at that time. He wasn't even 21 yet, and he couldn't be. Marvel shouldn't have changed the cover in the first place. January also contradicts other sources that show Stane was interim CEO for several months, not just one.
December 2008 - Tony is named "Time's Person of the Year".

December 2008 - December 2009 - Vanko works on his reactor.
May 2008 - May 2010:
All the following events:
Some details of the events from the newspapers on Vanko's wall:
Tony saves a mother of three from a fire.
January 2009 - Tony saves the crew of a Russian submarine ("miracle submarine").
Pepper gives an interview about Tony, the suit and her figure (very important).
August 5, 2009 - Hammer tests his suit in Reno, Nevada.
September 13, 2009 - Saudi Arabia tests a prototype of its suit.
Early April (snow) 2010 - Vanko receives a fake passport and a ticket to the Monaco Grand Prix.
Shortly before May 2010 - Natasha is "hired" by Stark Industries.
December 2009 - May 2010 - Vanko works on his exoskeleton and whips.
Here we come to the infamous "6 months later" problem. And the main question: 6 months from what? a) "I am Iron Man" in IM1? b) Anton's death in December 2008 or c) The day Ivan finished working on his reactor?
As we have already established, it cannot be 6 months from IM1 (May 2008), as it contradicts literally everything. The date of Hammer's test also shows that it can't be 6 months from IM1 because there was already more than 6 months between the press conference and the test. So Justin should do some fact checking before his speech next time.
6 months since Anton's death (December 2008) would fit better into the timeline. It would also match the month of Tony's birthday and Pepper's version of what year IM2 takes place:
But it's still the wrong year. All other sources give us 2010, not 2009.
And finally, the best version is 6 months from the day Ivan finished his reactor. We already know that IM2 is mostly set in May 2010, so we just count back 6 months and get December 2009. It took Ivan a whole year to build what Tony was able to build in a few days in a cave and with a serious medical condition.
