kinda forever salty about ppl hating on Isgarren bc he didn’t help kill the elder dragons bc it felt like everyone just decided someone was to blame for the whole situation (who wasn’t the giant demon monster tyrant king from whom the commander barely escaped with their life.)

1. turns out killing elder dragons was a bad idea in the first place.

2. the astral ward was stretched thin as it was fighting demons CONSTANTLY and like, for the sake of Tyria as well.

3. a character should be allowed to have a moral flaw in the first story arc they are introduced in, bc i have a strange feeling the protagonist is going to save the narrative and those involved with their heart of gold (shocking i know).

like i have my criticisms of isgarren as a person, but they aren’t based on his morality. for example, he holds too much responsibility for himself to handle. he demands trust but is secretive by nature. he’s literally like the last of his race who has watched entire civilizations come and go, so i just think it could be interesting to think about why he maybe thinks the way he does, instead of being like “ew this bald mean man is lazy af”

finally decided to do this properly as promised :) here are the characters that inspire azure! most are not exactly inspired but rather characters that remind me of him as i was creating his character.

explanations below (left to right) (vertically):

fyodor dostoyevsky (bungo stray dogs)

— you can clearly see where the character design inspo comes from lol. azure's character design is my own sona, and my sona's design is inspired by fyodor and miyamura.

— some of fyodor's traits are similar to azure in reasons i can't explain at the moment as you will find that out soon in project re: azure.

luka (alien stage)

— need i explain more?

— prince of the stage who features a soothing voice. very luka and very azure.

hayate ichikura (play it cool, guys!)

— before i start explaining i just wanna say: blue, if you're seeing this and you think about your character because of the similar name, i totally get you. that's what i thought of when i saw your hayate's name for the first time. made me think of this guy.

— modern au! azure is inspired by hayate because they both don't know what they want to do in their life. much like hayate, azure feels like he lacks individuality and struggles to envision his future. both characters also work part-time and major in economics (yes, college au! azure is an economics major).

ivan (alien stage)

— like ivan, azure puts on this act for the aliens. their similarities are shown in the outstanding student interview as azure's interview answers has a similar style to that of ivan's.

— would like to add that one official art where ivan is looking at a puddle and practicing how to smile. azure does the same thing.

winnie bosko (cold front)

— now this one doesn't really have anything deep to it.

— winnie is considered an inspiration for azure simply because of his sprites. winnie's sprites are very expressive and enthusiastic, so whenever i think of azure's act i visualize him in winnie's sprites.

— that was the initial thought but as i think more about it, one of the things that azure and winnie have in common is their imitating/copying(?) of people? im not quite sure how to explain it.

— winnie's copying(?) comes from pure admiration while azure's comes from utilisation, so that's a difference. still, both have that quality.

— also blue, once again if you're reading this, don't you find it absolutely funny how one of kyo's inspo is auggie while azure is winnie? literally fueling the caskyo and azure dynamic 🔥 (explanation: the one that winnie idolizes/copies is augustine while kyo is one that azure mimicked to fool castor making them reanimate the cold front dynamic in their own way) (this information is semi-canon btw as it was a hypothetical round that me and blue like to entertain).

as the CEO of the ketsukane's what do you think of some takes of Kanako if she got to grow up normally/deltarune yellow kanako's? I find it a bit lame that a lot of people just turn her into bigger dorkier Ceroba, I think it'd be fun if more people did stuff with her interests in games and just generally her taking more after Chujin since her taking so much after Chujin (being so self sacrificial) is partially what caused her end in UTY. Idk on the deltarune yellow takes I just find it weird to turn her into some sort of shrine maiden when her wanting to be a superhero is right there. And they'd really think she'd wouldn't grow up with a love for tinkering?

tbh I don’t rly see enough grown up kanako centric fanworks to have any comment on the ‘bigger dorkier ceroba’ aspect ngl???+ in general im a lot more interested in how she’d grow up in the canon uty timeline as an amalgamate, and I am not a fan of how ppl erase the opportunity to explore her being one just to make things more ‘feel good’. but okay, hypothetical of her growing up without the incident taking place/deltarune yellow esque au…,

i do agree she’d take more after chujin obviously, tho I think saying her being self sacrificial is taken solely from chujin is a bit inaccurate, id argue both her parents are self sacrificial (ceroba throws her morality and wellbeing out the window just for a chance to make a difference! its not just chujin). The part id say that comes solely from chujin rather than both of her parents is more her interests and skillset, as u mentioned a bit with the video game he made for her. (and cerobas description of her also leaning towards her being more like chujin ofc)

on that note, i quite like the idea of her getting into robotics! i feel she would find much more success in it than chujin did... not to say there wasn't any passion behind the axis project, but at that point chujins priority had shifted more towards his overambitious goal of protecting the underground from a seemingly imminent threat. the fact that he was clearly less inclined to this line of work than his peers did not and could not stop him. meanwhile i feel like kanako would have a more genuine pull towards robotics, the opportunity to create life out of metal and magic would fascinate her. two of her greatest strengths seem to be her creativity and her intellect, which would mix perfectly in this role.

she would love the opportunity to create something that could help others, especially. another defining trait of hers is how driven she is by a desire to make things right and help others: willingly taking part in chujins experiments shows her love not only for her family, but for all of monsterkind (+getting very tunnel-visioned w the idea of being their 'hero,' title soaked in blood etc etc), and the lengths she is willing to go to show this. obviously making helper bots would be a much healthier outlet for this trait than letting herself get injected with a dangerous serum, lol!

as for the kind of robots she would make, i could see her starting off pretty simple with a bot to help her family out w/ everyday duties, maybe a gardener bot to tend to chujin's garden? as she gets more confident in her abilities, she grows more ambitious, creating bots w much higher capabilities. Though her favourite part always remains giving them their own distinct personalities and forming bonds with them, treating them like family (just as I like to believe she would have done with axis if given the opportunity… kanako and axis friendship is real 2 ME!!!! I could go (and I have b4 lol) on a whole other rant abt how ceroba treats the steamworks robots and how chujin abandons axis once he’s ‘dangerous’, and how this contrasts to kanakos drawing of axis, depicting him exactly as she would in a drawing of a friend to hang on her wall. She would love all robots unconditionallyyyyyy okay)

okay first of all. canonically as kids we have: suicidal, possessed by an alternate future version of herself, and literally does not exist. so im gonna come right out the gate and say a mario and luigi-style time travel scenario is off the table just. logistically. and also thematically. you understand.

but luckily the scenario mechanic makes it pretty easy to do whatever you want, so we still have options. are the kids personalities extrapolated from who the characters are now, just younger? or are they based on what they were like at that age? (or what they thought they were like at that age?) do they have the memories of the original? all of them, or just up to that age? if not, would that affect their personality? are they based on/created from childhood memories, almost like an avatar? is it some kind of creature that transforms into a younger version of you? to what end? or is it a robot or doll created specifically for this scenario? and most importantly - how old are the kids?

so heres a potential situation - they randomly encounter a hidden scenario thats meant to test you in some way? i guess i dont really have an idea for a plot or arc yet so i have no idea what the clear condition would be but. hypothetical scenario that creates a younger version of you and forces you to interact with them until you achieve some personal growth. if you wanna get angsty with it, the best way would probably be something like, the kids have all your memories up to that age and you have to help them overcome their trauma (and therefore your own). so in this case the kids would probably be a bit older, like 10-12? i dont remember the exact timeline on the kdj stuff but im pretty sure that would be after his mothers book came out but before he started reading wos. its a liiiiittle older than i was thinking but i think its the perfect age for maximum emotional turmoil 👍

this scenario would obviously be hell for kim dokja specifically, but i think it also has interesting implications for yoo "literally didnt exist as a child" joonghyuk. yes kim dokja has to face a version of himself potentially dealing with the very fresh aftermath of the situation with his mother, but yoo joonghyuk has to face his own lack of identity pre scenarios. probably the more realistic scenario here is that he just doesnt get a kid version of him because he has no memories to base it off of, but what if he does anyway? a quiet, closed off kid with no memories or family to speak of. its just so sad....... admittedly i dont have a whole lot of ideas for han sooyoung here though. well. actually. quick han sooyoung tangent

now. at risk of sounding like i have no reading comprehension. i have to admit that i was never really clear on exactly what memories han sooyoung gave up to create 1863!hsy. because okay. han sooyoung regains her memories when an avatar disappears. and when 1863 disappears is when han sooyoung gains the memories of everything that happened pre scenarios, right? [its actually not at the same time in the slightest but im not here to complain about time travel in fiction or we'll be here all day. theyre presented at the same time so i think its fair to say theyre connected]

so to me that implies that han sooyoung previously had those memories and made 1863 out of them? but why would she do that??? shes pretty careless with her memories but i dont think shes THAT careless. plus she mentions fairly early on that sssss infinite regressor (or whatever its called - her "plagiarized" novel) was based on her dreams - which wouldnt really make sense for her to reference if she previously had memories of 1863 and then forgot them. and that would also create a weird loop where 1863 has memories of herself writing wos, which i dont think tracks because she herself was confused that someone else wasnt writing wos...... and we also know that if han sooyoungs avatars train then she gains the skills from it, so perhaps this is an extension of that? and she gains all of 1863s memories independently from whatever memory hsy gave her originally

once again obligatory "i havent read the back half of the novel in quite a while so i dont remember very clearly" - i could be way off base here because my first read through of anything is usually not very reliable. but the interpretation that makes the most sense to me is that we just dont know what memories she gave up. but it seems odd to me? to specifically mention that she gave up a lot of her memory and thats why 1863 went rogue? not to mention the ways 1863 is so different from hsy.......

ANYWAY the point of this whole tangent is that if the children are based on the memories they had at that age then child!han sooyoung would potentially have an important memory that ours is missing (because she gave it to 1863!hsy). BUT if theyre based on their existing childhood memories, then naturally she wouldnt. in fact, id wager that over the course of the novel han sooyoung has probably lost a lot of childhood memories - that could definitely be a source of angst. its different from yjh who had no say in his circumstances - hsy intentionally threw away important aspects of her childhood in order to survive the present. and these are the consequences - a child who is missing a lot of formative experiences and noteworthy memories. imagine coming face to face with a version of yourself completely distinct from the kid you know you used to be, even if you cant quite remember clearly anymore, and knowing that you have no one to blame but yourself...... ohhhhh i really like that.

lol apparently i had the least to say about kim dokja facing his past self head on - i guess he does do that several times in orv huh. (wait. oh my god. i didnt even think about the oldest dream...... ohhhh my god kim dokja....... like, okay, assuming this happens sometime in the middle of the novel he wouldnt know about the oldest dream but. i guess i failed to consider all the things about his past he might not want to address...... but if this kid hasnt started wos yet then the reader specific guilt would likely be less prevalent. but something to think about......) and in pursuit of a different angle on that struggle i stumbled into yoohans raging identity issues. incredible

omg do the kids have skills?????? well kim dokja has to have the fourth wall no matter what. and probably also orv, but at a lower level - i guess it depends on if he has memories of wos too...... wait holy shit. little kim dokja who has started reading wos....... meeting yjh in real life....... im gonna cry 😭😭 i guess idk how old kdj was when he started reading it - wasnt he in middle school? thats probably older than i wanna go. can you tell i wrote this out of order? anyway. young yjh would have whatever skills yjh started with in the 0th turn (so, not many), but he probably has high starting stats (its only natural). im sure han sooyoung has been writing since she was a kid so she would still have avatar (again at a lower level).

to take it in a different direction though, we could do more of like. a mini clone situation? similar setup but maybe instead of a personal growth scenario its like, take care of your younger self and make sure no harm comes to them for one week. something like that. but instead of who they were as kids its like if you hit each of them as they are right now with an age regression beam. definitely go younger with this one - maybe 7-8? admittedly i have very little concept of the developmental stages of kids. i dont want them to be too young though - they should have some independence but still be way too young for all the fighting. and if sys and lgy are like 10 then a couple years younger than that seems about right? omg i was just checking the wiki for character ages - i didnt realize hsy was 2 years younger than the other two...... she'll be so little....... well i could always make them all the same age but wheres the fun in that

so anyway, in this case they keep all their memories and maybe their skills? maybe only some of them, and scaled down of course. but theyre more emotional and less skilled. vulnerable. child!kdj definitely admires adult yjh more openly, child!hsy is a biter, child!yjh is. strikingly similar but a little more readable. this also has really fun potential if the group gets split up and the kids are paired off with a different adult...... and since the kids are accurate to who the adults are but with less emotional regulation and impulse control, there could be some really fun moments of. your true feelings get revealed without your consent...... ohhhh yeah. its all coming together

ok umm,, dramaturgy as an au is just so character study-ish and generally character-focused,, plus the initial developments made on island are kiinda important to the cast dynamic?? so as i see it there are a few options:

A: rehash/go through the unchanged plot of island, the TDDDDI special, some eps of WT, using it to develop the Situation from other characters perspectives while maybe having one or two to emphasize noahs characterization

it gives a lot of time for character developments outside of noah himself, and time to reinforce noahs own characterization using that outside perspective,, but could potentially get boring/long-winded, since nothing different happens and its literally just Characters Having Screentime

^ maybe sub a full going-through with character vignettes and specific scenarios throughout island/the special/celeb. manhunt or after TD/eps of WT??? i guess you could also slot smth like this in with the other ideas aswell

B: begin the hypothetical fic post-jamaica challenge and leading into london, use it to exposition some minor things and generally establish characterization before getting into challenges and actual canon divergence

it doesnt drag on (as much atleast), gives you enough time with enough cast members to establish what the others think of noah and what noah thinks/how he behaves and why (probably slot in his distrust of alejandro here??), more challenges gives noah more chances (and reasons) to break character, though the character development has to be slow and conflict should probably be built up (but im kinda partial to this one ngl)

C: kindof half-baked but beginning in london (i’m imagining literally at his eel line), where hes eliminated that episode, but comes back via comeback challenge; arc kicked off by being so pissed off that he has to come back and do the Same Shit yet again (and probably because of producer-rigging. again.)

the conflict/character dynamics would move a little faster, its less to trudge through and figure out canon changes like the butterfly effect of noah staying in the game in london, but having less characters to have relationships/interactions with (but making the ones had can be more developed/rounded as a result), less Time in general, the original idea of noah ‘unmasking’ alejandro is kiiinda less impactful this late into the game?? slightly i feel like

or D: even more half-baked than C and kinda just 'possible' and feeling out of place, but you could have noahs arc happen in all-stars instead (smth smth the audience was vv dissatisfied with how he ranked in WT and so he gets brought back)

^ this is mostly bc i like the motif of noah having eel-pond related scars and seeing it as a physical reminder of where 'acting like the camera isn't there' can get him (but you could potentially fit this into the C idea, posing it more as a bitter feeling/theme rather than a motivation to continue his facade)

i dont really like this one from a storytelling standpoint, and it doesnt make much sense since theres no character motivation via unmasking alejandro since everyone already knows at this point?? idk it is there though

umm yeah thats all ive got, i guess you could also mismatch ideas like B&C so the fic starts post-jamaica but noah still gets eliminated, or have noah eliminated after london but still winning the comeback challenge and coming back swearing vengeance (within his own head mostly) or smth like that

i kinda wanted to just put this Out in the World and let it simmer before i start combing through WT to make the allotted ‘official’ canon changes of this au lol

(and not to mention theres still the issue of the actual Ending,, does he win?? is his winning both symbolic and the first genuine, intentional break of character he makes, to the audience and his peers beyond the unintentional ones hes made along the way???

Oh a friend mentioned something similar the other day, so if you're referring to the same post that I'm thinking,

I guess the tldr is that someone posted designs for a twst monster AU as well and Ace and Deuce's were pretty similar to mine but the person didn't mention my stuff in their post or anything, so in that context it was kinda difficult to tell if it was fanart/inspired designs ooor if the person was taking credit for making up the designs as a whole 😅

Not calling out this creator or anything, because I'm totally fine with people getting into this AU, drawing my designs or even taking my designs as base or inspiration for their own takes on the canon cast, monster AU's aren't a new thing, I definetely wasn't the first person to add it to a fandom, let alone being its "owner" (this idea is not mine, you guys! It's not! I only happen to post about it a lot with twst!)

I talked about this all before but baisically the only thing I'm kinda :/ about is if in a hypothetical scenario someone took the designs that I already made and claimed it as theirs. Like, taking them as inspiration to do your own thing is ok! Just not straight up saying it was you who made it up, if that makes sense?

I don't have strong feelings about all of this, really, but I'd like to avoid is possible future drama about "X stole Y's design or Y stole X's design" because I know this sort of scenario happens a lot in fandom spaces and it often escalates to crazy heights in some social media circles lol, but you know, as long as this scenario doesn't happen it's ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And I definetely don't think this person had bad intentions at all! The thing that might confuse some people is the fact they didn't mention me on their post and that might accidentally be seen in a weird light by others? but yeah it's not their fault and as long as they didn't have bad intentions, I'm alright with it!

back to my regular bullshitery, or more specifically back to discussing that au im very slowly working on (though i will eventually return to placing curses on the mod about Birds of Prey) before i start going insane, because lets just say i've hit a slight snag, i have beaten PoR! so now im very slowly making my way through RD at the moment(currently on part 1 chapter 6 as of writing this) i also want to clarify that me saying a re-playthrough isn't exactly accurate as its more my first actual playthroughs of these two games and i just know what happens in the games due to living vicariously through a lets play years ago, so my bad on that part now then what could i possibly be going insane about this time? seeing as it relates to the au it ain't college work for once, nope, it's recruitments so using the canon RD as a basis for just recruitable units there are about 73 in total, and the problem is figuring out which ones would even be present during this au's PoR or just be during the RD portion, whether they'd even be recruited at all, which army they'd be a part of(because RD has multiple armies), or if they'd even be alive in general that last bit isn't even taking into consideration about characters that weren't recruitable in canon, because there are likely several that weren't available in canon but are in the au, like my most obvious example: Seeker, that guy a majority of you people probably forgot existed is a recruitable unit in this au so for now lets focus on just the PoR portion as its mainly just focusing on one army and can help figure things out for the RD portion i've already made it clear Ike and most of the Greil Mercenaries aren't recruitable, which in of itself creates more problems because in canon a lot of recruitments required Ike to talk to them would the lack of Ike just automatically mean they aren't able to be recruited? is it just because its the lord and thus somebody else could convince them? would it just be case by case basis? also i've also mentioned Jill doesn't get recruited, because duh, and since in canon to get Haar you need Jill to talk to him does that also mean he doesn't get recruited? is he still in Daein by the time RD happens in the au?? furthermore, i still don't fully know how the story pans out, so even units i could see still joining the army could've died before they could be recruited because butterfly effects are both a blessing and a curse i am in an endless feedback loop with myself because i need to know what characters could be hypothetically recruited to make the story, but i need to know the story to figure out what characters would be hypothetically recruited how the fuck is this au becoming more complicated then my other aus, this one doesn't even have time travel! tl;dr: any actual updates to the au is slow because of how many variables there are for me to solve when it comes to a game(well, games) with 70+ characters -🐦‍⬛naesala lord anon🐦‍⬛

YEAH!!! to me its always felt like. more of an au than an actual interpretation of how things happen post canon??? like when its treated as a genuine possibility im like. liam would NEVER do that and ngl i get a LITTLE defensive on his behalf. bc not only is it not like him at ALL but its also boiling him down to an action rather than a character, and i am WAYYYY to emotionally invested in him to be able to handle ppl wildly mischaracterizing him. hes real to Me and its so important to me that hes treated like a guy w just as complex a character as any person would have

i think airy and liam are so different wrt the humanity thing not even necessarily bc liam still connects w it either, but bc he first hand understands that the ppl on the plane r Ppl. i imagine that airy having had his only contact w ppl in over a decade be tiny little guys he can move around and also see on his computer is like. theyre not so much as people BUT just tiny guys. like if u have the sims u dont WANT bad things 2 happen to them but also at the end of the day theyre just digital people, and i think the fact that airys only contact w ppl HAS been that disconnected, and that he doesnt have that vital personal context of what being on the plane is LIKE makes it so that like. one doesnt feel as big of a deal to him as it does to liam!!! which is another aspect of WHY liam wouldnt, bc airy DOESNT get it but liam DOES.

airy isnt deliberately cruel, he wouldnt willingly hurt a person, and he seems to care a lot (once again, like when ppl take care of things like digital pets bc theres still Compassion there) but ultimately the emotional toll of one is not smth he can grasp, so he continues it. it makes him happy, and its not really hurting anyone (doubled with the fact that the contestants dont die forever, and theyll EVENTUALLY go home, its a win win to him! hes already died before, too, a long time ago, and i think that makes it have a LOT less weight to him when ppl die. 'it sucks, but it happens'), so why not?

Yeah hi I was bored n thinking about this idea and also wanted to do a style study for toh, (ignore that I had to use bases for the bodies I couldn’t draw them😭 my lines where too shaky I’m not the best at tracing stuff so I cheated a tiny bit) I had originally thought of this idea ages ago in a doodle where they all went to hexide and it was more a high school au if anything but now that the show is further along I thought of a more fleshed out idea for this hypothetical au!

Technically this could count as just a regular Ahit toh au BUT I based it off of ideas and hcs in aau so yeah I’m sticking with that

Also the characters aren’t one to one with toh characters it’s more just a “how would these characters and their story translate over to toh universe” thing but most characters can be tied to a toh character as being based on/in the role of if that makes sense like I said it’s a bit of a mixing pot with the characters

Uh yeah info about the basic idea for the characters/story:

The whole story with prince and Vanessa instead of prince getting locked in a cellar to die van curses him instead, but somehow idk how yet he ends up turning the tables and splitting the curse with her. I like the idea that prince is from his respective time period as Ahit and falls through a time pool so we get the same concept of this guy is old and from a long time ago just with skipping over the death ghost part so yeah he gets sent to present Snatcher is basically the eda character he has the curse and takes elixir (which I hc is blue bc haha Ahit reference)

If it’s not obvious from her design Vanessa is the belos of this au lol Probably instead of the emperors coven it’s something like the Queen’s court? I think it’s got a neat ring? Anyway yeah uh not much to say about her she’s basically the same lol, also I like the idea she uses illusions to hide her appearance and also to manipulate mj and the citizens 👀

mj is basically a combo of s2 Lilith and Hunter! He’s a grimwalker made by Vanessa to replace prince basically he’s made to be her perfect fairy tale Prince Charming that loves her and would never ever betray her <oblivious But yeah same idea as Hunter of being made as a clone of someone else BUT they’ve got a more similar role to Lilith in which they end up befriending the main cast and living with them Also included their “golden gaurd” design not sure what to call it? Moon prince? Moon something idk lol you guys might could help with that but yeah that’s the fit they got when with van also we got blood Amy too in which Vanessa gives her curse to mj after finding his palismen (she eats them belos style ofc lol) speaking of I still need to draw the palismen but I have some cool ideas!

Sorry I’ve been putting it off BUT curses!: basically same logic as canon they go by eda and belos logic respectively so van is a creepy skeleton cryptid ass monster and snatcher is a animal beast! BUT he’s not a bird like eda or Lilith ,and also not a snake though that would fit in being a more obvious choice, he’s ACTUALLY a ferret! Mostly bc I thought it was funny but it stuck lol they are furry and noodly so it works, plus I’m a sucker for the monster has innocent name but is actually terrifying trope lol, also idk about blood moon? They get cursed yeah but I don’t think they get transformed into anything mostly bc I have no ideas for them lol plus it’s more focused on the illusion hypnosis whatever abd not the curse itself

au 2: psychonauts 2 au. not a crossover. i have like 9 google doc pages of this shit now and will maybe post to tumblr when it’s done. basically copy n paste vfd with the psychonauts society and you get this. lemony is a young psychonauts intern heading to stain’d by the sea with his mentor theodora and psychic shenanigans ensue. the mental worlds of pnauts are ripe for character exploration and by golly have i made 10 of them for characters in stain’d. hypothetical world design and how the puzzles n such would work. if ur in the vfdiscord my rant about qwerty’s world is in there - yes i’m being on brand by doing qwerty first, i also drew him <3 i love qwerty. this au is also like headcanon hell cause My Hands Are On This Wheel And I Will Steer It How I Please Cowabunga Baby. there’s also more epic mickey inspiration in here than you’d think but that game was very formative to me

au 3: physic ghost au. after qwerty died on the thistle of the valley, his ghost just kinda stuck to lemony’s brain for no reason and now lemony has to deal with the trauma he’s experienced in stain’d and vfd with a perpetually bleeding ghost giving commentary. i have had this au for all of 20 minutes so idk if i want qwerty to speak or not (cause yknow having your throat slashed fucks that up and him not talking could be fun body language stuff) but he makes his opinions on things clear and nudges lemony to do certain things. like a really spooky conscience who smokes a lot. occasionally other ghosts will show up, like hangfire or other people lemony’s killed for vfd, but if they’re negative qwerty usually gets them to fuck off. hangfire’s ghost is hella persistent though and sometimes theyre having ghost fights in the bg while lemony’s taking a test at prufrock lol

if i mention "davepetasprite" after this sentence i lose, but finding that spark that made their steven universe fusion feel so complete and free after the merge, and distilling it into something that can work without necessitating their destruction as separate people is... well. just #RelationshipGoals in general, probably. But i think it is possible in the specific case.

btw, dave and nepeta did interact in canon, although we just saw the shadows of it. dave rp'd with her as "Akwete Purrmusk" and as far as i can tell they were both p enthused about the experience. (per Dave's comments to Jade and Nepeta's to Karkat.)

They both tend to bring WAY more energy to their IM chats than (with exceptions) their conversational partner can maintain, so interacting with someone who will meet them with a "Yes And" every time could almost sell the thing right there. Nepeta is good at seeing through the personas people wear, but she will meet them where they want to be met at regardless. In Dave's case, this means that she wouldn't buy his "coolsona" any more than anyone else, but she'll treat it just as seriously as he does at any given moment, and she is not fussed about purported irony levels.

And neither of them have hidden motives. Refreshing!

It'd be a fic of 5 scenes where they have a great time riffing/rp'ing their way through background plot stuff, but because any character you create you create out of yourself, they are each obliquely sharing the truth of themselves. And in each scene, they are closer to the core. In the second to last, they pretend to be each other, much as Equius and Nepeta did in that one walkaround. In the last, they are no one but themselves. It is quietly intimate.

Thematically it'd be about the purpose of the identity masks we wear, I guess. Play is how we meet ourselves, after all.

ok i mentioned earlier that i wanted to make a fnaf au that sort of does it’s own thing and is it’s own beast entirely so I spent a few hours writing a few things down and here are the basic plot elements nd stuff!! fair warning tho it is REALLY long so that’s why the readmore is there

you play as a 2nd year college student whose on vacation with 6-7 of your friends who all go to different schools. ur all on vacation in ur small hometown around the midwest region of the us, none of the friends except for one is rlly worth noting (bc i’ve yet to rlly flesh them out)

it takes place in the modern era, around summertime, and right near the end of everyones vacation.

the one friend of note I mentioned is a guy called Lester Smith! He’s really into electronics and his dream job is to become something akin to an imagineer . you and him go way back but not in the good way. You used to bully him a lot in middle-high school for being the “weird kid” and ultimately fucked up his dreams. This is because at the end of senior year, there was a robotics competition you both partook in, both in different teams, and the reward for the winning team was a fully paid scholarship for the most prestigious stem school in the state. Lester would’ve won, but the only reason he didn’t is because YOU broke into his garage late at night and tampered w his robot so that it would fail and make him seem like he was inept at programming. That’s what happened, and YOU won the scholarship instead. This was a massive blow to Lesters hopes as his parents weren’t able to pay for a proper college for him and his grades in other areas weren’t that good so he just goes to a community college now. since then you and him have became friends as he mostly seems to be on good terms w it and doesn’t SEEM to be onto you for what you did to him. you two like to talk about animatronics a lot and it’s apparent that he’s probably way smarter than you and that he probably deserved that scholarship way more than you do.

also none of your friends are accquantinced with Lester, you only just introduced them to him over break, and they seem to be getting along well. For now

thankfully for Lester his luck has turned around, he’s been showcasing these new entertainment animatronics he’s worked years on to multiple restaurant chains but they’ve all wanted nothing to do with his project because of Lester’s lack of any sort of resume etc. it all seemed doomed to fail until this local restaurant called Freddy’s (which genuinely is not affiliated with the Freddy Fazbear company because....the Fazbear company does not exist in this universe!!! it ditches the canon ALTOGETHER. the place the plot takes place in is just called Freddy’s for continuity purposes and to keep the name of the franchise) humored his offer and took him up on it. probably because the company is losing money each day and is likely only doing this so it can bring customers in and not be bankrupt

OH YEAH ALSO Freddy’s is given the funding to go thru with the animatronics initiative from an anonymous angel investor which has also allowed them to expand it and be relatively financially well off and has allowed Lester to make more animatronics and expand the place! so that’s fun

the hypothetical game takes place thruout the week-long testing period for the animatronic prototypes and the restaurants renovations are nearly done and they also need extra night guards to make sure everything goes smoothly. so you and your friends all decide to pool in and help Lester with the testing week by all becoming night guards and working together at the same time since it’s your last week together and you have nothing else to really do plus you could use the extra money but YAY!!!! FRIEND MOMENCE

Throughout the hypothetical game Lester who is also a nightguard serves as your phone guy stand-in. He calls every night to chat with you and the others, telling you about tips and tricks to make sure the animatronics work as intended, goofing off with you, infodumping about his cool robots, being a pretty neat dude and having fun. it’s so cool.

as mentioned before it ditches the series standard 5 canonical night format and goes with a full week of 7 canonical nights instead. the first night is relatively tame but as it goes on the other nightguards (who are your friends) start disappearing one by one....aka they’re being KILLED by the animatronics. you can’t really know this is happening at first because all your friends have made it clear they have to go back home on different days, and your friends disappear on the days they’re set to leave home so nothing seems amiss at first because you, and everyone else who’s still left, just thinks they headed back home like they said they would, which Lester assures you is what’s going on. but eventually in the last 2 nights you and Lester are the only ones left and it becomes apparent that your friends, or rather what remains of them, never got out at all.

remember how i said that Lester serves as the phone guy stand in and how he helped you with the animatronics? turns out a lot of the advice he fed you through calls actually ended up aiding him in killing all your friends, and technically you’re sort of to blame for why they’re not around. 50% of the advice he’s given you ends up hurting your friends and making the animatronics go after them.

plot twist! Lester is fully aware that you ruined his life at that robotics competition and as soon as he got home from it he could tell that someone, specifically you, tampered with his robot, and has been planning to brutally get back at you for years and is incredibly jealous and spiteful toward you for obvious and... pretty justifiable reasons, all things considered

on the 7th night Lester locks both you and himself in Freddy’s with no way for either of you to escape. he’s then killed by one of the animatronics and that animatronic, now possessed with his soul and with his consciousness stored inside, chases after you and tries to kill you. this is along with the other animatronics, who are now all haunted by your dead besties who died on the previous nights, partially controlled by Lester and enraged that you let them die. you spend the rest of the night evading them, but in the last few hours they all combine together into a single animatronic who is entirely controlled by Lester and goes after you even MORE and the difficulty ofc ramps up to 100.

the only way to beat the night is by going into the secret storage room and grabbing all the fireworks that you and your friends were going to set off on your last night together as a group on break - which is like, a lot of fireworks - but had to cancel due to bad weather (which was the 2nd night of the game, right around when ppl were disappearing) and luring the Mega monster animatronic to it and setting it off, destroying Freddy’s and everything in it. wether ur player character also dies in this explosion is up to ur interpretation and their fate is left ambiguous as the Newspaper Article(tm) published after night 7 states that you simply “disappeared” and doesn’t elaborate on if ur alive or not.

so yeah!!! that’s the basic plot and backstory of my fnaf au. i’ve always thought it would be really cool if there was a fnaf game based off the slasher genre (w Lester being the slasher-type villain here), that concept has always worked rlly well in my mind nd i gotta say i’m having SO much fun workshopping it. i’ll get to designing the characters and the animatronics REAL soon and i’m definitely gonna have a ball w those aspects. i’ll also probably find a name for it other than “MY FUNNY FNAF AU” so that’s cool. ok i’m done rambling im so excited to flesh this out byeeee ^^
