Oh my boys did SO WELL today

Oscar drove so, so, so brilliantly - I’m still gagged over that turn one triple overtake and, later, him gliding past THE Charles Leclerc. And even after the [redacted] issue with [redacted] Carlos, he fought to get so far up the order and got that fastest lap point!!!

And LANDO. We all knew he could do it!!! He beat THE Max Verstappen!! Everything was in his favour today, the sun was shining for him. Absolutely glowing. And that gap he kept between him and Max?! So impressive. I’m in awe of him today and always.

one of the things i love about ebenezer scrooge, and a christmas carol in general, is that, unlike most fictional rich people, scrooge doesn't allow himself the luxuries that he denies to others.

like. he is enormously wealthy, but does he spend his money on good food and nice things and indulgences? no. he keeps his house dark because it's cheaper to not light things, he eats gruel, he barely even makes a big enough fire to heat himself, let alone the room. he scrimps and pinches pennies everywhere he can - including in areas that other people would consider "necessities" rather than "luxuries."

the story of a christmas carol is as much about ebenezer scrooge coming to realize that his misanthropy and miserliness is making himself as miserable as it's making everyone around him, and learning to once again take joy in living in a way he hasn't allowed himself since he was a boy.

it's genuinely cruel to ebenezer scrooge to compare him to assholes like elon musk and jeff bezos.

for all that he is a terrible, terrible person, at least scrooge isn't a damn hypocrite.

percabeth angst post-Tartarus will always have my heart. the fics where when they apart, they go borderline batshit crazy? phenominal. because yeah you fall into hell with someone and they become your reminder of all that is good, so there absence feels like hell. the fics where one of them has a nightmare and the other is the only one to bring them out of it? top tier. because yeah the sound of the other's voice is enough to remind them that on their darkest nights there is light in the world, so of course they respond like one soul calling out to its other half. these two will be the end of me. just know that.
