Another link to this post. Meet the parents style.
So, Danny and Jason have been fake dating for a while now, and ended up marrying each other solely for tax benefits. Also, they got cool ass fucking friendship rings that they just couldn't not wear everywhere and being married is convenient so...
Anywho, so Jason has met Danny's parents but Danny hasn't met Jason's parents. Danny knows that he has some ties with the vigilantee scene due to being a Crime Lord-he still doesn't know what to think of his parents connecting the dots immediately when they only met him once while it took him more than that while living with the guy.
He thinks Jason may have been an ex-vigilantee at some point before turning to crime.
Then Danny gets blinded by rich people aura when he finds out that his bestfriend is the long thought dead child of Bruce Wayne. Frankly, he's insulted.
You mean to tell him that his could've been buying ice cream from that high class place all this time!? He shook (literally he grabbed and shook him) that point into Jason, he doesn't care that Jason never told him he was rich but he could've at least bought some high class ice cream once in a while.
Jason who was busy solidifying his power as a crime lord, avoiding his family and making sure not to leak his identity at all: I'm a literal crime lord, and the only thing you care about is me not buying you ice cream?
Danny: YES!!!!
Jason: Dork.
Right anyways, so Jason takes Danny along to meet Bruce and his fam but did say as soon as he started being uncomfortable they're leaving. The batfam is a bit blindsided by Danny, because they thought Jason was bringing his partner but its good to also get a feel for Danny's personality.
Danny and Jason did what's normal for them when Danny starts getting comfortable around the manor full of things that cost waaay more than his rent. Like half-heartedly insulting each other, being snarky, leaning on each other and other such things.
The batfam start thinking that there's more there than they know of. So they start watching a bit closer and ask a few round about questions that fly over Danny and Jason's heads. They just forget they're married often, unless it's regarding taxes.
All of this sends the wrong message when they walk into the same room and, being nosy, one of the batfam comes up to the door and uh. They hear the bed moving quite a lot.
So.
Meanwhile, Jason is trying to wrestle with Danny because this man does not pick a lane. He'll either be the human octopus (who is cold as hell) Jason has ever seen, he'll try to kick him off the bed in his sleep as if Jason personally offended him in some way, or he'll sleep in some wacky position that interrupts Jason's sleep. The last one is tied to the other two, however.
So, Jason has to frequently wrestle this man into a proper position where they both manage to get some sleep and it wouldn't have been so bad if Danny wasn't a goddamn sleep fighter. He would know, he had to nurse a bruised jaw for a few weeks.
Why do they sleep together? Listen, when you're in an apartment with not a lot of money, you gotta cut costs where you can alright?

hopefully gonna get 2 and 3 out either today or tomorrow bc neither of those have a complete background room and that took me an unnecessarily long amount of time

I just saw one of your fave games is What remains of Edith Finch and I’m so happy! I feel like its a lesser known game but i loved playing through it. I’m so happy to know more than just my small friend group know about this game!
Sorry this isn’t a question. Also want to say that you’re art is amazing and the development of the designs is so interesting to see. Also the way you draw intimate scenes have so much emotion to them. I love the Aj and rarity kissing comic so much, you can just feel their love for each other ;w;
Thank you so much!
I highly, highly, highly recommend What Remains of Edith Finch to anyone interested in narrative game experiences/"walking simulators." It's one of those games that was handcrafted with nothing but love. Every room you explore is just... real. The way the light flows in and makes the colors of the living room, the kitchen, the bedrooms glow. Playing the game is like walking through your childhood home as an adult and seeing how the dust clings to everything you once touched. Also genius-level gameplay mechanics, ones that can make you completely empathetic with the character you're embodying or feel completely complacent in their tragedy. It's really not fair to call it a walking simulator because it's so much more and so much smarter than that.Everyone talks about the fish one.
The theme of death and memory and storytelling and the burden of invisible trauma and self-fulfilling prophecies is so affecting too. The ending made me cry.

“Charles and I had a tough relationship to start with in go-karting. The beautiful thing is Charles is also someone who will never give up. That’s why we initially clashed quite a bit, we were both fighting at the front and wanted to win. And at that time we weren’t really communicating because we were young, in our teens. But over time our relationship has grown and we really respect each other. We sometimes see each other in Monaco, in a restaurant or wherever. Charles has always been fast over one lap. He can put everything together. He is not afraid, either. He is happy wrestling the car. It doesn’t matter if it snaps out a bit. He has confidence in his ability and that’s what makes a great F1 driver.”

I mean the problem with all those "what is rich" polls is that money is so WILDLY location dependent. $100,000US will buy you a house in Waukesha Wisconsin, and the bathroom of a studio apartment in San Francisco. $4US will buy you a good lunch in Greece and a potato chip in Iceland. The more useful measurement is probably something like "pounds of grapes" or "units of one-bedroom apartment": a single person who is paid 4x the average rent of a one-bedroom is going to have a much easier time than someone who is being paid 2x, but they're still not rich.

Coworker: You know, you were talking about that book the other day at lunch, and I kinda wanted to read it.
Me: What book?
Coworker: The Hobbit.
Me: You’ve never read the Hobbit?!?!? Did you get it??
Coworker: I started last night and I’m already almost to the end…..I’m starting to feel strangely sad thinking about all the time I wasted being “too cool” to read for pleasure when I was younger. I wish I had known about this book when I was a teenager - it would have changed my life, I think. There’s just something about this story that I really love. It’s, like, comforting??
Me, trying not to get emotional: Yeah…the Hobbit really does that to you.

The latest piece you made reminds me of like, portraits of people that my grandmother used to hang up in the rooms and hallways when I was kid. I remember profusely there was one REALLY BIG portrait of Marilyn Monroe that I absolutely loathed when I was a young'un, because I was terrified of it. I'd get up in the middle of the night wanting to go use the bathroom and then I'd peak my head out, in the dark hallway, and the only thing I could see at the end of it was the judgmental, dark eyes at the end of said hallway of the slightly illuminated portrait of her, staring at me. There were times I swore it moved, and it took a while for me to accept that it was just a portrait, because when you're a kid your imagination just can't get over it. I remembered many a night where I decided I could wait till the morning to use the bathroom because of how terrified I was of it That glare especially from Machete that in one frame is following the kid and in the next it isn't, really makes me vibe with them. With how imposing, cold and harsh Machete can appear, do you think any of the kids would end up afraid or at least unnerved of the painting by chance? I know as a kid I would've been. That those sharp reds filled with such malice would come out of the frame ready to judge me for my sins
Oh that picture of Marilyn Monroe at the end of a dark hallway is reanimating some long forgotten childhood memories in me. It's wild how random lifeless objects could seem so otherwordly and distinctly alive and dangerous when you were very little, especially at night. I was irrationally unnerved by a pair of reindeer antlers mounted on the wall of my grandparents' guest bedroom.
Realistic portraits, particularly when they're big enough to appear believably life-sized, can come across kind of uncanny even to a grown adult if the circumstances are right. I wouldn't be surprised at all if that painting was giving Vasco's pups major bad vibes when they were younger. Machete's severe expression, his sharp and elongated shapes, and the dark background of the piece wouldn't be doing it any favors.
