so about those timelines where flowey helped everyone. i feel like there’s some kind of division in people’s minds between those ones, the “good timelines,” and the ones after his first kill, the “bad timelines.”
first off, i really don’t think any of those timelines were “good.” not really good for anyone, especially not good for flowey. the thing about those timelines: we don’t know too much about them, but it’s reasonable to infer that flowey didn’t exactly give others much agency in them. but i’ve already talked about that. point is, he never settled. he gave himself responsibility for everything, and he didn’t let anyone move on until everything was perfect. that’s probably why he got tired. he was bored of wondering “what can i slightly change so that this solution gets slightly better?” he was tired of barely any change but still feeling like he could improve. and because he could, he had to.
the dreemurr parents put a lot of pressure on their kids. “the future of humans and monsters.” “the prince of this world’s future.” they sound rather similar. as a prince, asriel was expected to someday lead monsterkind. he was expected to be like asgore, help his subjects at any cost. considering this, it makes sense that flowey tried over and over to make everyone perfectly happy, until he couldn’t try anymore.

Haunted House, Haunted Mind
Date: November 1st, 2131
After a few hours of trick-or-treating and shortly after hitting the Church, CK stopped the group as we were preparing to hit the Police Station next. Right in front of a path through the trees.
"MWEH HEH HEH... HEY GUYS, I'VE GOT AN IDEA FOR WHERE TO HEAD NEXT."
"I thought the next stop was the police station?" Neil asked as the rest of the group stopped.
"IT WAS, BUT...!" CK stepped in front of the path "THIS MIGHT BE BETTER THAN CANDY."
"CK, what are you-?" Kris asked before CK cut them off by continuing, gesturing down the path while talking to the rest of us kids.
"SO THERE'S THIS SUPER CREEPY BUNKER SOMEWHERE DOWN IN THE WOODS. I'VE NEVER BEEN BUT I'VE HEARD PEOPLE LIKE KRIS AND ASRIEL TALK ABOUT IT ALL SECRET LIKE AND EVERYONE SEEMS TO AVOID IT."
"Ooo, spooky!" Blane noted.
"SO, YOU KNOW. WHAT BETTER HALLOWEEN ACTIVITY THAN-" CK started again before... Kris cut them off.
"No." Kris firmly cut them off. Even though CK continued to protest that Kris hadn't even let him finish, they stood firm in their statement. The bunker was off limits for a reason and there was no way any of us were going there.
Eventually CK yielded (though not without calling Kris a boring buzzkill) and we continued towards the Police Station.
... The bunker. Its something I've only heard about in whispered passings between some of the adults yet know little about. Given CK lives in Hometown and is related to both Asriel and Kris, it'd make sense for him to have a little more knowledge than me, but it seems that neither of us can really learn anything about it other than it's off limits and "don't we even dare go near it". Personally I'm content listening to the warnings to stay clear, (if Kris is THIS insistent that it's bad and dangerous, I'm inclined to believe that at the least, whatever's in there isn't something I want to see) but I can't help but be a bit curious.
One time, I asked my aunt about what was in the bunker. She might not have any personal experience with it (to my knowledge) but she has lived in Hometown almost as long as Kris or Asriel. Even still, her answer confused me. (I still half believe she was just trying to scare me.)
"What's in the bunker? Why do you need to know that old thing, Chi?" My aunt responded after I'd asked while she was making us some milk tea in between watching some episodes of the latest anime we were watching together.
"I don't know. I mean, I know not to go near it but... I guess I'm curious. No one else really talks about it."
"No kidding! Since the Mayor's daughter went missing, people have been avoiding that thing like the plague."
"Ms. Noelle? When did she go missing?"
"No, no. Not Noelle." My aunt sat down after handing me my milk tea. "Let's see, I don't know about it's origin, but if you just want to know what's inside it, I guess I could tell you that."
I scooted my chair in closer to listen.
"Some say that there's nothing in there but some shelves of canned food and supplies for surviving some sort of disaster. Others might say it's some mad scientists lab. Still others say there's nothing in there, and it's just an empty bunker in the middle of the woods," my aunt leaned in closer, "but I know... They're all wrong."
"You want to know what's in the bunker? The only thing in there is darkness. Darkness that's even darker than dark. Darkness that holds a dark underground city that holds an even darker dark beneath it's depths. A deep, deep darkness that contains a vast nothingness, yet contains everything that ever was and ever will be. The nowhere and everywhere, the empty space in which realities are formed. A place where time and space reside, extending on almost as far out as the nothingness, yet never work or function in. A darkness..." My aunt leaned in even closer... before booping me on the nose. "Whiiiich you're far too little to fully understand."
After that, she brushed the topic off and we went to go watch the next episode.
... I wonder if I'm old enough now to understand what she was talking about... Or if I only think I understand somewhat because of my experience in the Dark Worlds.
______________________________________________________________
After a run in with Kris's friend, Suzy, and hitting some more places, we made a quick stop near the Fun Center to say hi to mine and CK's aunt, but sadly she was busy. Since that plan was a bust, CK dragged us off to the haunted house at the old fair grounds and declared it as our last stop for the night. (He made sure to only dramatically announce it once we arrived, making for an awkward pause in his sentence as he just, stopped mid-sentence and walked all the way to the grounds, expecting the rest of us to follow.)
After Blane was the first to run into the house, exclaiming "No regrets no fears!!!!" and the rest of us followed shortly behind, we sort of managed to get separated from Kris, Spamton and Jevil, as well as from each other. I'm not sure when CK and I lost the rest of my friends, but one minute I thought they were with us and the next I turned around and they weren't. CK led us through one of the many doors to try and catch up with the others. (Probably not the best idea, but also I was on edge at the time).
That haunted house was creepy. I didn't see an actor insight and there weren't any jump scares just... dolls. So, many, dolls. It was freaky. The only time I DID get jump scared was when Kris showed up behind us after a few minutes. They explained that they, Jevil, and Spamton had split up to find us once they realized we had gotten separated which. I get the idea Kris but also why would you do that? (They also mentioned it likely wasn't the brightest idea.) After that we kept going through the haunted house to search for the others. That went on for a while...
At some point later on, Jevil seemed to appear out of no where, mentioning something about leaving Spamton with the other HotSpots (Oh boy, that... That probably didn't go well, did it?) and some time after that, the Askers spoke up to ty and warn me that Spamton was not having a good time and that Taffy wasn't helping the issue at all. Which... Gyeh. Oh boy. That opened a WHOLE can of worms. Taffy might always act very sweet and kind but... He's not really. Have I already compared him to Click before? The more I think about it, the two are very alike in their behaviors. (Honestly the same with the rest of my friends and the Addisons I've been finding). The thing with thinking about that though is... It brings up all sorts of thoughts. Thoughts that Jevil seemed to have no problem feeding.
"OH WOAH OF WOAHS, QUITE THE MORAL CONUNDRUM, CONUDRUM, LITTLE PUPPET BOY. YOU THINK SO HIGHLY, HIGHLY OF YOUR LITTLE FRIENDS, YET DO THEIR ACTIONS JUSTIFY THEIR ENDS? PERHAPS, HAPS THEY ARE AS FAKE AT THE SALESMAN CLAIMED, CLAIMED!"
"N-no they aren't! They, they can't be, alright!" I tried to shoo Jevil (and perhaps the thoughts) away.
"ARE YOU SO SURE, SURE, LITTLE PUPPET?"
"Okay, Like, yeah, sure, I have anxiety about them really just hanging around me for clout but, that's just anxiety, alright! They're my friends, sure they have their flaws but that doesn't mean they aren't actually my friends, okay!" ... "They... They've been my friends since kindergarten. There's no way they'd ever leave me..." Honestly at this point I think I was just denying it. I mean, who WOULD want to just, accept that their long term friends weren't really their friends?
"LEAVE, LEAVE YOU SAY? MY, SINCE WHEN DID I EVER IMPLY THAT NOTION, NOTION? SEEMS YOUR LOGIC, LOGIC IS RULED BY EMOTION."
At that point I was fidgeting with my knuckles, trying to calm down as my anxiety spiraled. "I-i... They wouldn't leave me... Right? ... But what if something happens between us? What if we get into some argument like Spamton and his friends did? What if... what if..."
"WHAT IF YOU END UP, UP LIKE THE SALESMAN? WHAT IF YOU FALL FROM GRACE, GRACE WITH NO ONE TO CATCH YOU? WHAT IF YOU CRY, CRY OUT FOR HELP AND NO ONE ANSWERS? WHAT IF-" Jevil got cut off by CK yanking his tail and pulling him back down to the ground.
"ALRIGHT, ENOUGH OF THAT! " After that, CK quite literally handing Jevil over to Kris before coming back to calm me down.
... I think that was the first time I ever verbalized those fears. Even if I've been (perhaps a bit too) open with Spamton about my feels towards my friends, I've never really said the rest of that stuff out loud to him. I mean, why would I? It'd be rude to tell someone who you've still relatively recently meet basically "Since meeting you I've noticed a concerning similarity between me and my friends and you and your old friends and knowing the downward trend your life took, and I don't want to end up like that." Like???
... I wonder if my meeting Spamton was the universe's way of giving me some sort of messed up cautionary tale for my future. ... I don't want to think about that.
At least even if the Hotspots aren't really my friends, I do still have CK. And Kris, and even Spamton. ... According to both Kris and Jevil, Spamton has the same fears about my future as me... Gyeh heh. Isn't that ironic?
To Be Continued

Can you elaborate on your interpretation of Flowey's ability to SAVE as a metaphor for trauma?
hi meant to answer this when u first sent it But things were busy and i also have So Many Thoughts SO prepare for my flowey rambling!! i might go a little more into depth about grief and the specific kind of grief flowey has so just be cautious if thats triggering at all
anyway the thing that stands out about saving to me most is that it's linked to control. the person saving has the choice to go back, or repeat everything however many times they like, or just move on and let things play out. flowey himself mentions he knows that power, that was the power we were trying to stop-- when given that sense of control people are bound to uhhh Not Have A Great Time! and it really reminds me of what ptsd and survivors guilt is like to deal with; the idea that somehow you could have stopped it or that only if you did this certain thing you could have saved someone or yourself so much trouble. flowey's ability to sa ve is grown from this belief that if only he made the right choice everything would have been fine, and a need for control for when he might have to make such a decision again in the future
he even says himself that he could have stopped whenever! just let everything go on. but he can't, at least he can't emotionally take something like that. flowey can't move on because of his need for control and stability in a world where he's trapped himself. it's like... a lot of times people who are in a bad state of mind subconsciously don't want to get better, because they're used to feeling the way they are. it's scary to move on and change because sometimes feeling so sad all the time feels like it Must be You, and then who are you if you're happy? there's also flowey's guilt, where he's probably questioning if he even has the right to be happy if chara is gone. especially when he clearly blames himself for what happened to chara. so he'd rather sit here in a world where he's in control and bored because at least he knows what's coming. people are predictable, but it offers him some weird stability
the other thing that really gets me about his ability to save is that he can only go back to waking up as a flower. at this point, chara is already gone, and he can't go back to being "asriel". it feels like... no matter how much he thinks about chara, who they were and their death and his inability to keep them from dying and how they filled their water to the top of the glass, he can't go back. he can reset everything all he wants, but he can't go back to before chara died. and adding onto that, wanting to return ends up idolizing chara in his brain. who knows if he even still thinks of them as they actually were. it's part of the reason why no one feels real to him. he has this distinct disconnect with himself and others because he needs to be in control and know everything, while with chara he felt they were "special". that they're the only one that could possibly understand.
and it makes sense that he feels that way! the only person who experienced his trauma was chara. he has an emotional wall up because the underground can't truly understand what he's feeling. no one feels real to him both because of this emotional wall but also because he's convinced himself that he's in control, that he knows exactly how things are going to go. he has this superiority and inferiority to others and a terrible savior complex because of his trauma, and it shows itself in his ability to save. it's like... he feels so trapped and out of control that he's desperately trying to hold onto any sense of control he can get but he doesn't realize how much his refusal to let go and heal is hurting him.
gonna talk about grief when it comes to suicide specifically here so WATCH OUT!!!! okay i have warned u all i am going to talk about it now. feel free to leave if it may be triggering i am begging u to not put urself through triggering bullshit <3
anyway i think the fact that chara took themself out and asriel felt like he couldn't tell anyone because this was for the sake of freeing everyone is really. that's the nail in the coffin. the heart of his control issues. i feel it might be a bit difficult to understand if someone hasn't gone through that grief themselves, but when someone you've known and loved has told you of a plan to get rid of themselves for the sake of everyone else, it leaves you feeling helpless. after all, if someone plans to do it, they will do it. you can't control that no matter how much you might want to. the fact that he lived through that-- that he couldn't stop chara, that he couldn't save anyone not even himself, that he might have made the wrong choice-- that's the thing that's eating at him. he constantly talks about how If Only Someone Made The Right Choice Everything Could Have Been Prevented. he's taken up chara's death unto himself. if only he did the right thing, then maybe chara would be here. but that's not how it works. chara was their own person, but asriel doesn't know how to be his own person.
that's why him saying he doesn't regret his choice anymore after so much time is so important!! it's him finally accepting that he needs to let go of chara and start living for himself. so his ability to save and finally letting go of his ability to save is so important to his trauma and cycle of self hatred. that's why he begs us to let frisk go. he knows what it's like to live through that cycle. the ability to save can be a metaphor for plenty of things but i think with flowey specifically it's an incredibly well written way of establishing what trauma feels like and the need to be in control after feeling so out of control of everything during the event. i hope that my deranged rambling makes any amount of sense cuz i think about this so very much
flowey is such an important character to me cuz he's really helped me analyze my own process of thinking while dealing with that kind of grief and it's kinda helped me come to terms with what happened. i love flowey sooo very much i really hope we get to see him more in the newsletter stuff cuz i neeeeed to see him being happy and living his life after his trauma i love the fact that he has a ribbon from papyrus cuz hes finally living for himself and his friendships and i am GOING to CRY !!!!

Decadent Society MODERN
Tumblr media
So uh, this one i'll have to rewrite, as despite still having the original info stored in my computer, i feel like it would be a lot better if i tried to re-explain some points about the characters (specially since a lot of info that i have saved is in fact outdated, lol)
So, what was the concept of this "modern" version of Decadent Society? I'm not... sure? Like, at first when i was making this new version, i was actually doing it so i could give the AU a fresh coat of paint, i wasn't going to change the main storyline or anything, i just wanted to make the characters look less like a swapfell ripoff, but after a while i guess i gave the AU the concept that, after the monsters got locked up on the underground, Asgore began to start forcing everyone to get prepared for a possible second war he wanted to have with the humans, so a lot of places and monsters were now dedicated to training and getting themselves prepared for when a second war broke out I did not remember this being kinda similar to negativetale, but oh well
So yeah, the AU was meant now to give more focus on the whole war thing Asgore wanted to do, giving some emphasis on him being actually serious this time and shit. I never developed the concept of the AU too much, mostly because i think i was trying to change it for the sake of being different? I wasn't doing it because i had a good idea in mind that sounded better than the old version, i was doing it because i strongly believed i HAD to
So, uh onto all the characters i have developed
Frisk: no info about them that i can remember, so i guess we can say they are pretty much the same
Flowey: So apparently he's somewhat more similar to the original flowey, but due to being so oppressed by the world around him, he eventually grew way too afraid to keep on going on trying to be threatening, as he now only attacks others when he's afraid of them, and constantly tries to hide himself out.
Napstablook: His concept was that instead of being depressed, he's so lonely that he became somewhat insane, or at least a little bit crazy. Simple as that
Toriel: I don't remember her fully, but i believe the idea for her is that she became much more about surviving rather than keeping on going with the motherly personality that she has, sure she will help Frisk, but they will never be her main priority.
Sans: He's depressed and lonely, and has a small mania of trying to call Papyrus several times a day, mostly because of not being able to see him in person anymore after Paps was drafted. None of his calls get answered.
Papyrus: He got drafted, and now undergoes through heavy training in order to be a perfect soldier for when the second war eventually breaks out. He's a lot more quiet and serious than his original undertale counterpart, and always takes his duty over his morals, despite knowing that some of the stuff he's forced to do is wrong.
Undyne: Leader of the army, nothing much to say about her except that she's fierce, remorseless and definitely doesn't question any single one of Asgore's orders, them being shady or not.
Alphys: I guess her concept was that she's a tired scientist forced to produce weapons for Asgore's army, tho her old design indicates that she also had a knack for engineering robots and cyborg like appendages.
Mettaton: I genuinely don't remember what he was about, but i guess he was more focused on the whole television thing? I do remember his old box design had a concept where he only speaks via the programs that he was managed to show on his screen, so he basically had to talk via sentence mixing lol
Asgore: Big bad guy, desperately wants to start a war with humans again, mostly out of spite than anything else.
Asriel and Chara: idk what their concepts were about, i think Asriel was like, a neglected kid because Asgore is an asshole and Toriel was too busy, and Chara was like, his kinda weird friend. Idk how they were supposed to die or something
Muffet: Oh wow, i actually made more characters aside from the main cast. So, the concept for Muffet is that she's a famous movie star and was a main adversary for Mettaton's business. Yeah that was it, the concept was cool but i never got too deep on it lol
Burgerpants: He's a drug dealer, he had to start selling shady shit because he got laid off from his job at Mettaton's hotel for being too incompetent.
Nice Cream Guy: weird emo guy, very anxious and scared about stuff. Apparently there was a concept about him having an abusing girlfriend? Which explained why he had to wear a collar, they were kinky, but the woman was kinda of a bitch to her or something. Idk lmao
Temmie: Also some kind of dealer, tho instead of Burgerpants that just sold straight up drugs, Temmie just sells knockoff stuff, while also giving out temmie flakes.
Monster kid: I remember he was kinda cute, he was actually gonna be a companion for Frisk during the majority of the story, not only through waterfall. He was like, a heavily bullied kid that loved doing art, which was funny since he don't got arms, so he actually learned to draw using his mouth.
And i think that was it? I don't actually have much information i remember about, since i erased a lot of the stuff i've made for the au because i wanted the modern version "forgotten" or something, idk lmao But there you go, this is why you see a lot of people for whatever reason drawing decadent society sans with a blue eye or with a hoodie with camo patterns, it's because of this cancelled version of the AU best way to take this info i provided is to look back at that shitty drawing i made with the main cast + some side characters

Does Asriel have any trauma in enduretale?
SO!!!!!
*trigger warnings for mentions of war, graphic depictions of permanent injury, and PTSD*
Asriel in this AU starts off as the Prince of Monsters still, and he was also born on the surface!! but pretty early on in his youth he started showing signs of having super powerful magic, even compared to his parents
a few years pass since Asriel is born, and Undyne is still training under Asgore to be in the Royal Guard. she's about fifteen in monster years as of this point hgdjdghjdghj
and then!!!
the War!!!!! actually starts because, the humans are too scared of Asriel's magic :'DD like there's a lot of factors that go in to it in the end but, it's what really tips them over the edge and what they use as an excuse to attack them jhdgdhjgdshj
Asriel is meanwhile!!! like!!!! five in monster years!!!!!!! (monsters don't age like humans do here but he's basically five)
Undyne is on the side of protecting Monsterkind but she REFUSES to give up Asriel and stuff, in response to one of the humans' offers ("just turn him in and we'll call off the whole thing", which,, not shady at all) and of course Asgore and Toriel refused too, because that's their feckin innocent CHILD BABY SON
as a whole most of Monsterkind is very!! very upset at humans for this!!! they do not like humans because of this!!!! Undyne is PISSED and wants to continue the War but, Asgore is just. tired. and he gives an ultimatum as the King, saying "if you want to force our Prince away from us, you'll have to force ALL of us away" and thus he proposes humans lock them Underground instead, "solving" every issue. this is a unified thing that most monsters agree on, and they bring it to the humans, who find it reasonable enough that they. do in fact banish them and lock them Underground just like that
everyone is just. depressed (but Asriel has no clue lol he's still a bab at the time)
anyway some more time passes and he grows up!! he knew how to control his magic for the most part but he kind of had to be trained in some parts by Asgore; Undyne, who's now eighteen-ish and in the Guard, is like an older sister to him and offers to be his sparring partner for fun and they both train together
through this he learns he actually likes sparring and using battle magic and stuff, so he's like, hey!! what if i start training for real and i do something similar to what Undyne's doing (being in the Royal Guard PFFFT) and that's, basically what he did, hdsghdjhghsdhjgdsjh
oh also!!! Undyne is buddies with &@$%*#'S kids, Sans and Papyrus, whom she introduces to Asriel when they start hanging out in the Guard and they all grow to be pretty good friends with each other!
more years pass, and Undyne becomes Captain of the Royal Guard after Gerson steps down and she (without really thinking about it and impulsively) makes Asriel her General to go with it HGDFJDGDJHGDSJHDSGJDSHGJSDHJ
this is all well and good until!! uh!!!! human, falls down and, they're not at all prepared for it??? and??????
this particular human is very murderery!! and because no one was prepared they're able to kill a good number of monsters.
they're able to slip around the Guard's watchful eye and Undyne and Asriel as a whole. they get all the way to the throne room, assumedly looking to kill Asgore himself. neither Undyne nor Asriel had made it there yet. they couldn't have made it in time, so someone else tried to stop the human for everyone when he'd heard what was going on.
this didn't work.
they were able to make it in time to stop the human themself in the throne room but by then it was too late. Asgore was safe and unharmed, but there were lots who'd been lost. Asriel was supposed to keep everyone safe and he hadn't. (he was supposed to keep THEM safe and he couldn't even manage to save even one of them.) the human goes for him next.
Asriel later wakes up in the hospital with most of his loved ones around him. they're happy he's okay but he's lost a good chunk of his HP--as in, his maximum HP had depleted. whereas he'd had over one thousand, he's down to little short of six-hundred. he's half-blind where the human had struck him in his right eye, and cut part of his face. there's now a scar that runs from the top of where that eye used to function to his lower jaw. and what little physicality he'd managed to heal up since then cetainly isn't much. he still has that right eye, it regenerated, somewhat, but it doesn't work much at all. there's a raw, true pain his side sometimes, though he's not completely sure why. Undyne won't ever tell him why (but he has an idea).
he starts wearing an eyepatch because he hates looking at himself in the mirror. he swears there's a scar stiched into his side when he looks too, but he usually tries to forget it (and is successful, for the most part).
a phantom pain shows in his arm, sometimes; the one that had once tried to bring a best friend to safety.
he's still in the Royal Guard to this day. though Asgore has stepped down as King, and Undyne has left to step up as Empress for him, Asriel still remains. in fact, he's promoted from General to Captain in Undyne's place!
. . .
he misses Undyne a lot.
he misses his parents a lot.
he still has horrible nightmares of the human. and his friends.
…but he has a duty to his people!
someone's gotta take care of them, right?

His Dark Materials: The Abyss (3x06)
Man, I got super weepy with this one.
Cons:
I felt like of all the emotional gut-punches in this episode, the one that wasn't as effective for me was Will and his dad. I think this goes back to an error in judgment from the second season. See, in the books, Will and Jopari never get to have a conversation as father and son while they're both alive. This is the first time, in the land of the dead, that they're getting to talk. But here in the show, they got to have a big chat and a slow death scene at the end of season two, so this additional scene just didn't really add all that much? I mean, don't get me wrong, always glad to see Andrew Scott, but other than his hint about how Will belongs in his own world, and instructions on finding his daemon, it felt devoid of the emotion I was wanting to feel.
I should say an overall weak point of the season has been the Gallivespians. I think they might be kind of weak points in the books too, but I remember feeling a deeper sense of connection to them such that when there were moments of tension and action, or even tragedy, it mattered to me. In the show, if you replaced all the Gallivespian characters with literal drone cameras that flitted around after the human characters, I'm not sure it would make any real difference.
I'll also say that while I liked the harpy moment, I think my knowledge of the scene in the books was doing a lot of heavy lifting. The whole idea of telling the harpies stories is pretty trite, but in the books it's more about feeding them the truth, and them feeding on something freely given rather than just forcing something out of the dead souls. There was a bit of nuance flattening here that was too bad, because otherwise I felt the episode did a pretty good job with the land of the dead stuff, as did the last one.
Pros:
But, okay, look. I did some crying with this one. First you've got Marisa, who continues to be the real highlight of the show (some might argue she's taking screen time away from Lyra, actually, and while I don't disagree with that argument, I'm choosing to focus on what I like about what we see, not just lamenting what we don't.) The cold, detached way she plays her grief, when she comes to tell Asriel that their daughter is dead... oof. And then of course the scene with her daemon that I'm sure is going to be a standout for a lot of people. The extended metaphor of self-harm being played out with her character is honestly really well-executed in my opinion, and this culminating moment where she offers an apology to her daemon, and thus extends herself some grace, was quite lovely.
Obviously my pre-existing affection for Lin Manuel-Miranda makes it easy for me to love Lee Scorseby here, but my god do I really love Lee Scorseby. Such a sweet pure love he has for Lyra, and the way he sees what Will and Lyra are to each other, tells them to look out for each other... and then he's gonna go be with his Hester... I cry... I don't care about Roger quite as much but I thought he and Lyra's goodbye was also quite touching, just on the strength of the actors' performances.
Like I said, the whole "tell them stories" moment didn't 100% land for me, but I did think the harpy design was cool, and Lyra nearly dying was harrowing: loved seeing Will lose his shit when he thought she was about to die. That's the good stuff right there.
Meanwhile with Mary Malone, the buildup to her relevance is finally going to be revealed, as we see Lyra and Will emerge into the world where she's been staying with the mulefa. She has stuff to tell them about Dust, but more importantly she has stuff to tell them about... feelings. All will be clear in time.
I can't believe that in a week I'll be done with this show! In preparation for my final thoughts, I'll say that while this show certainly can't match the artistry and brilliance of the books, I find myself greatly enjoying getting to see some of the moments I remember play out in this form.

so first thing's first it's mostly a role swap. the judge has sans' role as a judge, so like during that one part he'll judge you for your sins. like how sans would. zacharie is sans in his more humorous and shopkeep role... mostly, he's just regular zacharie. japhet is the way sans foils his brother... even tho valerie isn't japhet's brother. they just hang out cuz they're friends in this au. he's also papyrus because if you kill valerie you'll have to kill japhet. if that makes sense. i think the rest of these make sense tho
so after frisk ends up in offtale or whatever they meet the batter who's like "you gonna help me purify this place :D?" and the judge comes in and is like "leave them alone lmao sorry he's a weirdo. anyway hi" and he teaches you puzzles and shit and he doesn't fight you at the end of zone zero even if you no mercy your way through cuz he doesn't care.
after that is zone one, which should technically be dedan but to keep it more undertale structured we have japhet and valerie. their little backstory is that valerie was challenged to kill and eat a weak little japhet to prove he wasn't soft-hearted but valerie felt so bad for japhet that they became besties instead.
i forgot to explain battling. so there's ghosts which you can kill with no repercussions but i bet there's a way to spare them (haven't thought that through) and then there's the elsen which are on the verge of becoming burnt when you run into them. for a peaceful defeat you just have to calm them down some but to no mercy you have to antagonize every elsen you meet and kill them.
okay anyway after the first zone there's zone two which has dedan. i haven't thought of him very hard. something that would come up in this zone would be a meat shortage (plot relevant)
after that there's enoch and i have some pretty cool ideas for this. so until you meet him he communicates through these moving television screens that show like only a portion of his face? if that makes sense. and you only see him in person in the final room. throughout the whole zone you'd see advertisements for sugar, which say it has all the nutrition anyone needs
HIS true lab would be the sugar factory, where it takes the bodies of fallen elsen and turns them into sugar. yep exactly like in the game. he'd feel so bad about it but because of the meat shortage there wasn't another way to get enough food to everyone. i think it might be too dark to really redeem him from it but it's an idea i'm just spitballing here
so then you go to the judgement room and OH i forgot to mention in the second zone the judge leaves cuz he doesn't like dedan or enoch very much but he comes back in the judgement room and talks to you. i think if you didn't kill anyone zacharie would also be there but idk. if you kill lots of elsen japhet would fight you sans style.
so then there's the queen who no matter what thinks that you're disrupting the lives of the elsen and should die or something. in neutral routes she would battle you normal style and the batter would finish her off at the end. he'd be all like "you're so impure you should die or something" and then go to the next room to give you a little time to prepare cuz he battles with honor or something idk. and then you'd fight him while he berates you the whole time. it's not as cool as photoshop flowey but idk how it would be. anyway you kill him and behind him is a switch that when you click it turns the world off. yep just like in the game.
in a no mercy route the batter would pop up more often during your journey to idk. talk about it? i just feel like he'd have more to say. anyway in the queen room you'd kill her so fast (asgore style) and the batter would be like "wow you're so pure,,, you purified everything so good..... you should kill me and then kill this world :)" and then you do. and that's about it.
for the pacifist route all your friends come in before the queen can fight you and they're like "no actually they helped us understand.... stuff... they're good tho we prommy" and the queen is like "real shit? oh okay" and then the batter comes in and beats everyone up before berating you for sucking (i keep saying berate idk why) and you have to tell everyone that they actually don't want to die and then they won't and then you all beat up the batter collectively and live happily ever after. maybe frisk gets re-abducted by the aliens and returned home. idk
it's just a fun little au i like thinking about but it's not fleshed out enough for me to actually do anything with. i bet i said "idk" like 20 tiems in this

Curse Shoulder Spirits: Has Alphys + Mettaton + Toriel ever killed any humans, even accidentally or indirectly?… If YES, then who their Shoulder Spirits?… Who is Asgore’s Shoulder Spirit?… What if Mettaton + Napstablook are the ONLY non-cursed people, who can see the Spirits, because they’re both ghost themselves? … Would Mettaton be super happy, that his Integrity BFF is getting sassy revenge on Undyne? 👻🤖💖
While Alphys in this situation wouldn't have actively killed any humans, she was the indirect cause of one's death, a.k.a. Kindness. So, she wouldn't initially see her until after she began to experiment on the humans' bodies & souls.
Toriel, I definitely don't see being able to do so intentionally, but again, she did allow their deaths by not protecting them, or escorting them herself, or telling them that in order to leave, they'd need a monster soul, or even just preparing them in-general.
As such, while she might not necessarily see them consistently, she might feel as though she were being haunted by the spirits of the children & she'd be right in a way. Like, legit haunting. Like, seeing the faces of one of the children out of the corner of her eye or in a mirror, then when she blinks, they're gone. Or it'll be dark & she'll see a shadowy figure out of the corner of her eye, but when she turns to look, there's nothing there. Things change places as if moved even though it's just her there. Maybe one of the toys each one used to play with will just suddenly show up beside her. Or she'll suddenly wake up in the middle of the night with one of the children at the foot of her bed, looking at her like some sort of sleep paralysis demon. She'll suddenly hear things that she tries to convince herself isn't there. Like children's laughter or crying echoing creepily down the halls from Asriel & Chara's room. Or whispered hisses close to her ear, "why didn't you go with us?" Or suddenly, there'd be a human child's handprint on a mirror. Or after a bath, she'll glance at the mirror & see words begin to be written by an invisible hand. Just outright hauntings. Though, at the same time, it wouldn't a constant thing. More so, it'll just happen randomly over time starting after Kindness' death (who came after Patience) & with each human child that she fails, there will be a new face or figure or toys. The reason why Patience isn't there is because she left suddenly without telling Toriel, whereas the others Toriel allowed to leave, knowing full well that they would die.
Mettaton, possibly not either. As he wouldn't have done anything, yet, to get a human tied to him.
I think that Asgore's would've been Patience which I'm having trouble remembering the name of beyond the family name Gawain (we can go with Eira for her first name for now). But I do know that she was the first to fall after Chara & in my mind, Chara was either an orphaned street urchin or had an abusive family & lived in a medieval town (I hc that Ebot is in England) that was sacked by raiders. I remember choosing an actual village near the border of England & Scotland that was actually raided at the time. I think it started with a "b." It was some time during the late 4th to early 5th century. Anyway, the raiders killed his family & he ran away, then fell into Ebot.
Anyway, Patience lived in the time of Arthurian legend, if not a bit after, & aspired to be the first lady knight. Her father was a knight & her mother was a gentlelady. She grew up being trained by her father, who was secretly routing for her to show the world she could do it, but as a result, he trained her harshly & taught her the ways of chivalry. Her mother, on the other hand, while loving her dearly herself, wished to instead raise her to be a proper lady of the court & discouraged her from training.
So, a bit like a healthier version of Brave. However, here Patience actually doesn't mind the etiquette classes or the dresses or the ribbons & quite enjoys being a lady. However, she also enjoys swordfighting & if she'd managed to grow up, I see her having taken up using a razorchain sword-whip. Basically, it's a sword that when you put magic into it, the blade will separate into pieces of the razor-sharp blade connected by a chain. Which she'd use as if it were a whip.
However, since she didn't, she had to stick with her training sword.
She was an immaculate battle strategist who had mastered the art of wait & strike. And knew well the way to disable a person without killing them. However, she also knew how to kill when necessary.
Anyway, she has a deep sense of chivalry & a desire to help others. As well as an abiding sense of honor. So, when she heard of the monsters' dilemma as well as the fact that she would be unable to leave without a monster soul (from Toriel, which could be why she elects to no longer inform the children), she left in the middle of the night without telling Toriel, made her way across the kingdom, battling monsters, but neither cowtowing to their inane, asinine demands, nor killing them unless there was no other choice left. All done with neither fuss nor fanfare.
Then, upon reaching Asgore, she challenged him to a duel. If she won, he'd train her as a guard & she would serve him as her new king. If she lost, then her soul was his to save his kingdom with. (In this way, she might have a tiny bit of an ego problem.)
In the end, she lost. So, she took her loss with grace & knelt before him with her head down as if swearing fealty to him, but with her neck extended as if in preparation for the headman's axe. It struck Asgore deeply & he was forced to make a decision then.
Keep in mind that back then, you were considered an adult much younger than you are today. I believe at around 13? And Patience was around 14.
I think that I decided that Asgore goes through with it himself, but does so with reverence & respect? Openly thanking her for her sacrifice.
The toy knife you find in the Ruins was made of wood & it was Patience's favorite toy as a child. She carried it around for good luck, but accidentally dropped it at the Ruins. The same with her mother's ribbon after falling in some leaves.
Anyway, in the end, I see Patience being the sort to understand Asgore's position. She wouldn't like it, especially when the Kindness child (who was 5-6) showed up & died. But she more than most of the other humans would understand solemn duties for the sake of others. As knights are the instruments of their king, whose responsibility it is to protect his people. As such, she'd at least have an idea of how heavy the head that wears the crown is.
In this way, she would have mixed feelings about the situation & since I don't think that Asgore would actually know exactly what the Royal Scientists would've been doing, then neither would Patience, which would make it even more startling when the pain of her DT being extracted rushed through her. She & the other human ghosts would also feel a twisting discomfort whenever their bodies were experimented on. Literally like someone was treading on their graves.
In a way, I think that Asgore would very quickly begin to see Patience as a daughter, even becoming protective of her, & would find her presence both comforting & distressing because he regrets his decision with every fiber of his being. She hadn't deserved to die like that. To die so young. Only having just become an adult. He should've just taken her up on her offer to make her a guard regardless of winning. He was sure that they could've hidden her identity somehow.
So, he'd be alarmed & distressed when she begins screaming & is clueless as to what is happening to her.
Anyway, I definitely think that the ghosts being able to see the spirits is a fun idea & Mettaton would absolutely revel in the thought that his Darling Clarice (his nickname for her) was sassing that awful fishbitch. Though, he'd also be somewhat jealous that she was bound to Undyne instead of him, which would just reinforce his hatred of the fish.

man sometimes i think. and tonight it’s about how ralsei isn’t meant to be a version of asriel, but a version of kris. and that really fucks me up. let me elaborate.
there is a lot of evidence to suggest that kris idolized/loves their brother, that’s true, but i think some of that may also stem from a desire to almost be him. if that makes sense. like kris is the only human in a town full of monsters and has likely never been socialized with other humans. the “how to raise a human child” book that toriel checked out a bunch suggests that she either happened upon kris or was given them in very rushed circumstances. she did not have time to prepare for raising a human. and i think, despite her and asgore’s best efforts to keep them tied to being a human, kris would be raised like a monster. they would understand monster customs, monster eating habits (hence the affinity or at least tolerance for non-foods like moss), and a monster’s way of life. but they are human. and, despite all the socializing and raising in a monster’s home, they would always remain that way.
they were clearly unhappy with this concept. that much is evident in the mentioning of the horned headband they used to wear consistently (until they one day--quite suddenly--stopped wearing it). they were confused about why they weren’t becoming like their brother and their parents tried to help them cope, but ultimately the coping mechanism failed and kris either lost it or “lost” it. aka intentionally left it somewhere. but regardless of their species status, they were still going to be raised exactly as the dreemurrs were raising asriel. so kris still wore the same striped sweaters (i believe their current one is a hand-me-down from asriel), still attended the same church where asriel sang in the choir, and still hung out with the same monster kids that asriel was friends with. and it becomes clear to me, with the way their rooms are set up, that kris wasn’t sure what they were outside of being asriel’s younger sibling (asriel has a lot more trinkets and things, while kris’s side is mostly bare--save for the birdcage and red cart).
when kids are young, they will sometimes openly desire to be just like the elders in their family. it is the classic concept of a kid going up to their parent and exclaiming “when i grow up, i wanna be just like you!!” and usually the parent will laugh or feel awkward, depending on the parent’s outlook on their own life. and i believe kris has that with asriel. or did. they don’t really seem to connect with their parents. asgore very clearly doesn’t understand what kris is growing up into, and toriel is stuck in this perspective of kris still needing to be coddled like a child. the only person kris really connected with is their older brother. their other half. so it feels obvious that they, as a little kid wearing a red-horned headband and a striped sweater, wanted to be just like asriel.
hence, ralsei.
ralsei is an anagram of asriel. if kris wanted to be like asriel, a person derived of that desire would probably have a name that is similar to asriel’s. ralsei is kind and devoted to a grand prophecy--mirroring asriel’s kind demeanor and his religious affiliations (lot of this we only hear from other characters, but i’m using it as evidence to support. asriel was clearly active in the church community, and people generally have nothing but nice words to say about him.) that might be an aspect kris has always been hard on themself for not having; from a lot of the other character’s admissions, kris has always been an awkward, quiet, and kinda weird kid. and they’ve never seemed that dedicated to religion, unlike their brother. ralsei is also a bit of a gnc king on his own, sporting traits of being both masculine and feminine. that part isn’t, like, Concrete evidence (none of this is LMAO), but if ralsei is meant to reflect a version of kris-more-like-asriel then it is fitting that he’d be uncaring about gendered stereotypes and fall sort of in the nebulous space. just like kris (hashtag nonbinary legend).
ralsei is also incredibly lonely. he lives in castle town all by himself, waiting patiently for the heroes to arrive and be his new friends. that part screams “kris” the most to me. asriel very clearly Had close friends. he had dess, and burgerpants, and catty and bratty (tho they were like Into Him so maybe those two a little less). but kris only had asriel. noelle was there and it is evident they connected, given chap 2, but i think she just...paled in comparison. who could beat asriel? to kris, that answer was: nobody! nobody could beat asriel. he was their brother and their friend and their support. and when he’s gone, kris has to just....wait. alone. and hope he comes back so they can keep playing and kris can keep feeling like they belong in this family where no one shares their face.
ralsei is a child’s concoction. an amalgamation of hopes and dreams. some wishful thinking, mixed in with deeply-rooted insecurities, all rolled up in some pink horns and a familiar face. he is the version of kris that they would see when they’d shut their eyes, playing in the imaginary yard with asriel and noelle and dess.
but that dream has, for the most part, died off. kris is different now. maybe the time alone has let them realize some things about themself. that they can’t change something so fundamental, so why bother--why bother with anything, for that matter. which is why ralsei is so...off. they’re what kris used to want.
the horns were forgotten for a reason

yo dawg any thoughts on DR chapter 2 thus far
Tumblr media
I SURE DO because BOY there was a lot to unpack in that chapter. I'm still trying to sort out my thoughts about it, I like literally just finished the alt route a few hours ago which just gave me a whole bunch of new info to try and sort through, haha. I’m going to need to sit down and really think about it for a while before I can start spinning things together effectively.
BUT ANYWAY, FOR QUICK SPOILER-FREE THOUGHTS CHAPTER 2 WAS REALLY GOOD AND I LIKED IT MORE THAN CHAPTER 1 TBH I loved the expanded mechanics and the new sense of depth to everything, it gave a much clearer picture of what Deltarune is going to be than Chapter 1 I think. I think I was also more open to it this time since I was prepared for it going in - I got totally blindsided by Chapter 1 and had no idea what was going on or what it meant or if it was a sequel or what, but this time I knew what the deal was so I could just take Chapter 2 on its own merits. Loved the characters and the enemies and the bullet patterns were all really cute, loved it. It all felt really cohesive.
SPOILER THOUGHTS UNDER THE CUT for both the main route and the alt route (I like the name Snowgrave for it but in my head I just keep calling it the alt route, haha)
I’ll just do this as a list because I don’t have the energy to really get in-depth with a lot of it at the moment.
I’m really suspicious of Ralsei. I was suspicious of him before but I’m really suspicious of him now. It’s weird he can walk around in other dark worlds without turning to stone, that there’s a room for Asriel in the Queen’s mansion and not one for him, and VERY weird that he knew exactly what Kris had to do in the real world to bring the other darkners back into the dark world. How did he know that. Also he looked cuter with his hat.
Spamton is great and creepy, I was able to do his battle first try! Which was way better luck than I had with Jevil lol. Although, today I went to try and do it again just to check, and I spared Jevil my first try. :O So maybe Jevil got rebalanced? I dunno, it just seemed a lot easier all of a sudden. ANYWAY, SPAMTON IS GREAT
Spamton has to be ghost related but i’m not sure how yet, I assume Mettaton due to the form and the wings and the name and the recurring Neo motif in his theme, but there was also general ghost motifs in his theme as well and some things don’t add up. It did look like you find the disk in Mettaton Neo’s discarded body, and Seam says it might have belonged to an old Lightner. A lot of ghost connections. What if Spamton is Dess’s ghost
Love Queen and the Tasques, goes without saying I’m sure, all the enemies were so cute. Loved checking on Lancer in my items.
Hugely pleased with the ramped up gay and also Noelle is precious
Kris opening the fountains is an interesting twist. I wonder if they opened the first castle town fountain or not (also, no one else seems to see the castle town door?). It’s weird because there was a door connecting castle town to the card world, and there was no door to the cyberworld. But somehow Ralsei knew how to get there anyway? How did he get there? How could he tell. Ralsei’s up to something. I do not trust him.
Susie’s the best
The Snowgrave route is really creepy in a different way than the murder run in Undertale which I’m very intrigued by, I want to see where that’s going. There are interesting parallels you could draw between Kris controlling Noelle and the player controlling Kris, but again it’s something I’ll have to think more about before it becomes something more coherent. Something something “strength” being achieved by giving up control to someone else, blocking out what they do, just doing whatever they tell you, something something
lol berdly died lol kris just shoving his body in a closet
The Flowey TV at the end is also intriguing, I wonder if Flowey is the one forcing Kris to remove their SOUL and do stuff. I wonder. Kris moves so jerkily without your control and also it seems like it takes a lot of time for Kris to get enough strength or control to move to pull the soul out in the first place. There’s the puppet/string connection that Spamton highlights, but also when he says that even when all the strings were cut, he wasn’t free. It could be that taking out YOUR soul just leaves Kris open to Flowey’s control instead. I dunno. Lot of questions.
Also strange that Kris deliberately opened the front door and turned on the TV before opening the fountain. And that they take their SOUL out pretty regularly, apparently? Toriel doesn’t seem that bothered by Kris spending a ton of time in the bathroom with the water on, anyway.
So Kris opened the fountain in the library at the end of chapter 1, then also went and ate all the pie. Then Kris went out and slashed Toriel’s tires (presumably) and possibly ate all the sugar in her car before opening the fountains. I wonder if there’s a connection between sugar and Kris pulling your soul out to do whatever.
Ralsei says darkners turn to stone when they’re in a world that’s not their own, Onion says they hear a song from the ocean they can’t remember but they’re sure they’ve heard it before (Mother 1 nod, I see you!):
Tumblr media
Just gonna throw this out there.
I spent a bunch of time getting the egg and putting it in Asgore’s fridge and NOTHING, DANG IT
Noelle seems able to hear your voice as the player, or at least a strange terrifying voice that doesn’t seem to be Kris’s. My guess is the player, but if the TV really is Flowey, then maybe it’s him? Questions.
lol throughout the snowgrave route i called noelle my murder girlfriend
By the way you can do the Snowgrave route even if you’ve spared everyone up to that point. You can also start sparing people again right after Noelle leaves. Thus names like Murder run or Genocide run don’t really fit to me. Neither does weird run, weird implies something a lot less... dark? I think Snowgrave is the way to go here. Or alt I guess but that’s pretty vague, although people will probably know what you’re talking about.
I CAN’T BELIEVE I GOT ROBBED OF PAPYRUS AGAIN well no I can believe that, part of me thought that might happen BUT I WAS HOPING
The difficulty level was nice throughout, not too hard and not too easy. Close shaves, but nothing frustrating. I think I actually only died to Berdly and Spamton on the Snowgrave route, come to think of it. NO WAIT I died a lot to the teacups leading up to Spamton’s battle lol but that doesn’t count.
There’s a lot you can make out of Spamton’s dialogue and I don’t have the energy to stitch it all together right now though, haha. What he says in the store about, what was it... a call for you, asking if anyone was there? And then in the Snowgrave route where he says you can call for friends all you want and they won’t answer? An Earthbound nod of course, but still. It makes me wonder where things are going.
(There’s a second thing I want to tie to that but I’ll probably make that a separate post)
Given that Toby said there’d only be one ending and there are routes where Berdly is alive or DEAD, I get the feeling we’re heading for a “rocks fall, everyone dies” ending more than ever. Or an ending where the world of Deltarune is destroyed and becomes Undertale, or something. idk. I’m just speculating.
There’s an explanation for Kris’s saves now! Theories I had about it before are off-base now with new information, haha. So Kris has been saving in every dark world they create, which includes Castle Town. Well, if not them though, they saved over SOMEone’s file when they showed up there. I do wonder why the spade king and Queen didn’t recognize Kris though if they were the one convincing them to create chaos in their kingdoms. Although the video of the fountain being created DID say that there was so much smoke, you couldn’t see who was doing it. Maybe Kris was in disguise.
Spamton says something very weird when he talks about the knight at his store, which makes sense if Kris was actually the knight. I can’t remember it exactly though right now.
Spamton is really insistent on talking to Kris alone.
It could be that Kris is exploring the nature of freedom/control with Noelle during the Snowgrave route since they’re struggling with that themselves. Although the closer glimpses of the player during that route (when she seems to hear you, the player’s voice) make that a bit fuzzy.
It’s interesting that Noelle’s description says she freezes the enemy right off the bat before you do anything. Also she’s really hesitant and resistant about going to Spamton’s shop specifically it seems, and when she’s there she says something that implies “why did you bring me HERE” along with the odd line “there’s no one here, no one at all” and that it’s creepy and weird, but also nostalgic for her. I almost wonder if Noelle had something to do with Dess’s death (I assume Dess is dead from how everyone talks about her). Or if she believes she did, anyway. She could just be nostalgic for the scared feeling like she says to Kris later on a normal route, but I dunno. It’s weirdly specific.
When you fight enemies down with Noelle, it always says “Noelle got stronger” even if Noelle doesn’t kill the enemy with her magic, even though I’m pretty sure her stats don’t change unless you get the ice kill.
I remember when I played the first chapter I wanted to do a murder run immediately afterwards (that’s me! I’m still doing that!) and then as I went through I noticed I wasn’t killing anyone, no matter how hard I tried. They’d always heal themselves or run away until the game went the way it wanted me to, with only minor differences. To be honest, I found it kind of frustrating. It really did feel like control was being taken away from me, particularly because it presented the option and then did nothing with it. Why let me fight if it doesn’t do anything? Why harp so much on making good choices if I can’t make any other ones? What’s the point?
Then in chapter 2, it turns out oh hey, fighting will make you lose recruits, and it’s like alright, that makes more sense. But still I felt railroaded into this sort of fluffy, feel-good kind of path. Even when I fought everyone off on a normal route, it mostly went the same except with a few different bits of dialogue. Again, it was weirdly frustrating. It felt like something was missing.
And then, you get Noelle. And then it turns out you DO have a way to kill people, after all this time. NOW you have a chance to take control and stop doing what the game clearly wants you to do, and what everyone is telling you to do. You’ve found a loophole! YOU can’t kill anyone, but NOELLE can. There was a definite kind of contrary rebelliousness during that run for me, a kind of “you can’t stop me from doing this or ruining what you wanted me to do” kind of feeling, which I assume is meant to mirror how Kris feels all the time when your soul is in them. I didn’t see it as a need or instinct to level Noelle (no one in the game can even get levels through exp! There’s no point! No one’s important stats ever change except through equipment!), just a realization that you found a loophole in what you’re supposed to do - or who you’re supposed to be. Noelle’s just a tool for that, which Spamton even calls you out about in his final battle by asking if you want to “use” her again when you call for her.
AND SHE COMES WHEN YOU CALL HER TOO HOW DOES SHE DO THAT
Also interesting: when you call for your friends in that route to help you, they don’t come/can’t hear you, and Spamton says it’s your fault. If you call for your weapon though (Noelle) she comes almost immediately. You don’t even have to call her, you whisper her name once and she’s there.
There’s a lot going on in the route is the jist, haha.
I HOPE ASGORE IS DOING OKAY ;_; HE HAS TO BEG SANS FOR FREE PICKLES
I also noticed that when Sans is like “oh you keep your flowers under glass huh, like that movie” Asgore is like “yes it’s... very similar to that movie” with a shifty look. The flower in Beauty and the Beast symbolized the prince’s life. Asgore what are you up to. Did you get up to murdering antics again. He DOES say he talks to the flowers a lot.
I think the dark worlds are getting stronger, since in Chapter 1 everyone went home mostly fine, but in Chapter 2 injuries seem to carry over. Berdly freaking dies lol in the Snowgrave route, but also if you fight the Queen during that battle where Berdly has a wire in his face, he’ll eventually pull off the wire himself and in the process burn up his arm all crispy. Then in the real world, his arm is paralyzed! So things are definitely carrying over from one to the other.
Queen has to be related to Susie’s mom issues. Ralsei says darkners are meant to serve Lightners and follow them and bring them happiness - darkners might be a kind of Silent Hill thing where they reflect what Lightners want or fear (Noelle wants her mom to love and prioritize her happiness over everything, perhaps, or is just afraid of how smothering and controlling she can be). Also sad that the Ambulance enemies show up right after you get Noelle. :( And Queen mentions Noelle making a lot of sad and strange searches - I assume searches about whatever illness her dad has or how to deal with grief or guilt.
I thought maybe Spade King was Susie related thusly because he talks a lot about being a Bad Guy, but on second thought, his main motivation is resentment about being discarded and forgotten by Lightners and the people who used to give him purpose. Maybe he’s a reflection of Kris’s issues about Asriel leaving. Just speculating.
For some reason I pictured Asriel as a like football bro due to all his trophies but it sounds like he’s just a wussy as Ralsei is lol. Which makes sense. Ralsei was always kind of worryingly accepting of the abuse you dish out to him, he’ll forgive Kris of practically anything (I gave him an S. Poison and he was like OW! I mean, uh, thanks Kris! Haha!), he’s so desperate for Kris’s validation and affection. Asriel seems to have a sort of similar tendency in constantly going to confession for KRIS’S sins and sobbing about them FOR you. I wonder if Ralsei is just Asriel’s dark world form in disguise, thus why he hid his face for so long from you and changed his name.
(If Ralsei is Asriel in disguise then that makes his behavior towards his sibling PRETTY WEIRD tbh)
Kris is such a weird edgy kid. I worry about them, haha. I don’t think it’s as simple as Kris being an antagonist to the player or the player being an antagonist to Kris. It’s definitely interesting that Kris is making the fountains and the player is the one sealing them (it specifically says its your soul doing it). At first glance, making more fountains does seem like it’ll plunge the world into darkness and chaos, but then again... Ralsei’s the one telling you that, and who knows. Maybe he has his own agenda. There was a lot in this chapter about how the dark world is better than the light one.
If the dark world versions are meant to reflect the lightner’s souls or innermost desires or idealized visions of themselves, then Kris’s soul/desire/vision of themselves is... a corpse-blue dead knight. Bit worrying.
Awful lot of scarves in chapter 2 that pushed for Ralsei to attack people. A lot of attack uppers for him. Even Spamton’s item is a weapon for him that mentions abandoning healing. I know Jevil dropped a weapon for Susie too, but I dunno.
The fact you can fuse the Thorn Ring with a Pure Crystal (wherever that is) to make a creepy sword makes me think Noelle is going to come back again. Unless you’re supposed to get the thorn ring and then take it off her and abort the run at Berdly, which you could do I suppose. Still, it makes me think you and Noelle are going to keep going down that path together.
(What if the Pure Crystal is frozen Berdly? D: Or even an item you get off of Noelle if you kill her?)
Also very interesting that the ending credit theme is a glitchy version of the first chapter end theme. Don’t Forget was reprising constantly through the first chapter, but only showed up rarely in the second one. I only remember hearing a snip of it once, come to think of it, and I can’t remember where.
Boy there was a lot of shipteasing in pretty much every direction, wasn’t there?
ANYWAY THAT’S ALL I GOT RIGHT NOW I’m going to keep thinking about it though.

it had not occurred to me until recently that some other things could be explained by "kris was prepared for player's arrival" theory. like the fact that kris doesn't have asriel's phone number. or the fact that internet is down in the town for some mysterious reason and we know that talking online was the main way of communication between kris and asriel. did kris... literally slash town's internet cable somewhere just so we could not talk to asriel?

Callout post @ Chara & how they are canonically a cutie
In normal run, they speak very casually, cheerfully, and excitedly, while also being an insatiable little smart-ass. Still likes to sprinkle in some of them fancy words (to show off? because Toriel and Asgore's very proper way of speaking rubbed off on them?).
In Kill All, they are extremely short and blunt in their narration. When prepared to give their full attention and big speech directly to the player however, though still stiff and clipped, they switch to a more formal way of speaking that seems to be directly based on Toriel; imo, this shows that even then, they still fall back on Toriel as the prime example of someone powerful and worthy of respect in their big moment to give a speech and impress their partner.
tbh tho even Kill All Chara chugs their "respect gay women" juice? Undyne is "the heroine", Alphys is "Dr. Alphys"… meanwhile they're slinging MUD and talking trash all over Papyrus and Sans in the checks lol ("Forgettable", "The weakest enemy")
like sorry, boys, be girls I guess
Totally picked up on their mom's playful sense of humor and love of jokes. This includes but is not limited to puns.
On that note, they think they're VERY funny. Likely was the class-clown on top of being the new kid/the only human kid/the new royal kid. Probably spent a lot of time bantering with their equally goofy mama and joking around a lot to make their dad and brother laugh (Asriel spends SO MUCH TIME giggling at their antics in the VHSes, he was definitely used to seeing everything they did as goofing off). Bad move, Dreemurrs, now Chara thinks they're a stand-up comedian.
A mother-kid comedy duo probably explains why they're SO upset by the sight of Snowy's mom calling out to her kid that they slip up so bad on the narration. Snowy's "the comedian" and its mom likes to laugh at its jokes too, after all.
SO committed to the narrator bit, they literally say sound effects out loud. The cutest is giving the Annoying Dog in MTT Resort Dog Residue when you have a full inventory ("ZOMM!!! It shoots back out at a high speed!")
(seriously Chara did you really say "zomm" what the fuck)
So we can deduce from this they would probably make comic book sound effects with their mouth when play-fighting with Asriel.
They also literally say "zzz" out loud in the Greater Dog fight after canonically calling Napstablook out on doing it
Very possibly did narrator shit like this in life too, which would explain why Toby Fox decided not to give them any lines in the VHS tapes to not make it too obvious lmao. Imagine Chara narrating doing their own creepy face at Asriel.
The point I'm trying to drive home here is that Chara is actually a total baby geek and a nerd and more people need to recognize this, y'all are letting Chara WIN if you think they're even the slightest bit cool. A close examination of the narrative confirms they were not EVER cool.
Chatty af! Literally the type of kid who gets home from school and follows you around to jabber nonstop about their day (me, I was that kid)
Calls their mom's pie ButtsPie, regardless of what flavor you say you like better. Imo could mean that THEY like cinnamon more (in other words, might "turn their nose up" if they found butterscotch on their plate… picky-eater Chara?) or that Frisk has An Opinion on butterscotch and they're teasing them.

@legendcrown sent:   the creak of an old door, a quick turn of the head, ralsei stands at his altar with ritual knife in hand, a little bird sprawled out, belly-up, it's chest peeled open.  there's a bit of shadowy spatter on his cheek, and his gaze is rather intense while the two princes simply stare at each other for a few, silent moments.
then, suddenly, a little bowl is offered up, containing the animal's freshly plucked heart, and all at once, ralsei's usual bright smile blooms, all that darkness gone.
" perfect timing, my dear! this is for you, actually. get it? because it's a heart? hehe... do you like it? " he bats his eyes, oh-so-innocently.
Silence. Silence that seemed to gnaw at the very air itself as Asriel walked into the room. Staring at the scene before him. He had not expected this, of course, having walked into the usually so bright and chipper Prince’s abode. He had felt compelled, on some level, to come check on him. As gaze found the properly prepared offering, then to the bowl being presented to him.
An offering.
He did not lose the intensity of his gaze, no, staring at the still warm heart for a beat. Then another. Was that heart beating? It should have stilled by now, surely. It had been stilled, until Asriel’s gaze became fixated on it. At least, that’s the name that whatever this entity was using, currently. Though that wasn’t what was standing there.
An offering, to something dead.
Smile finally came, stretching.. cracking, at the edges. Growing wider still, as features tightened. As if skin and fur were becoming afterthoughts. Features sharper, more angular. Horns lengthened, curving. Already hollow eyes more pronounced, pinpricks of light receding.. until something sprouted in either socket. Golden flowers, akin to gazing at the setting sun, filling the holes made for them in long forgotten head comfortably. Petals furling and unfurling, as if mimicking an attempt to blink. Sitting comfortably in a skull, cracked and broken, arrow and part of spear protruding into it. Something that didn’t belong on this plane anymore.
Yet, it clung still.
Vines seemed to sprout, fur sloughing away. Muscles and tendons, dried as if from the sun’s rays, giving way to vine. Bone wrapped again and again until nothing remained but thick, tree-trunk like vines, sharp alien red thorns as large as the goat had once been. The only reason they looked like hands is because it wanted them to be. It curled vines just so, letting them twist just right as further thorn became sharp claw. Sounded against floor with metallic tang, as the rest of the form shifted to adjust.
This wasn’t a monster.
Chest grew tight, the cracking like bones amidst a great fire as torso stretched. Cavity gaped. All leathery flesh, vines dancing along the great maw of ribs. Flowers, oh so many, danced along those vines. Blossomed from life lost to life anew. Made a bed of sorts, in the body of this not-alive thing. This thing that seemed to stretch tall, accommodated only by the castle’s own. Neck lengthened, in that lying soft of way. Just more vine, tinged, allowing skull to lull this way and that as if muscles still existed.
It hadn’t truly been anything in a long while.
Legs were the final thing to, at last, give purchase. Spindly, long, just mere elongated cracked bone. Yet still they seemed so grand, for no, it was not bone. It didn’t have the right make. Bark. Trees, with roots scraping gently to the floor beneath in a place they did not belong. Trees that had absorbed the bones of some long-forgotten thing and decided to grace it with following along like some plan. Allowing something lost to live on in its essence.
Towersome, this beast that had been mistaken for a dead prince was. It could peer over many abodes, tens of feet over the goat beneath. No, this was not a prince. This was not a monster, either. There was not even a soul, to illuminate that dark cavity that could so comfortably house the dead. Like a pre-dug grave just awaiting the next that needed to lie amongst the flowers to rest.
It was a thing of death, of endless endings and countless beginnings. Was it a god? Such things were hard to say, but it certainly acted as such now.
A god that was given an offering to its tastes.
An exhale, like the final rattle of breath leaving lungs, as immense appendages reached; plucking heart from bowl oh-so-delicately for how grand and monstrous those claws appeared to be. Up it was raised, over marred skull. How jaw grew slack, supported by long-atrophied muscle, before suddenly vine allowed it to snap shut as comparatively miniscule thing is turned into what all things must one day become.
Nourishment for some other life.
Ichor, like liquid shadow, gushed down, bathing bed of flowers in its essence as it sank. Fed the life as stem and vine turned into inky darkness. Gaining nourishment from this fresh spill. How petals alit, shifting from their once dull to truly shining like the stars had remembered it was time to awaken. Gold shifting to blues and whites. Voices, whispers, cries, of long forgotten things. Long forgotten ones. Those that would not be remembered, save the echoes that were heard now. Countless years, countless lifetimes, all there and not there. Remembered and forgotten. Final goodbyes; final cries of agony; hushed whimpers of dying thing all alone.
It would be forgotten, but it would remember.
It was not quite a growl, no, but not quite a laugh. As if a forest shook, branches connected, bristles swayed in a gust of wind. Just as abrupt, as the change occurred did it start to recede. Like watching life and death come in reverse all at once. Flowers sunk, flesh spilled. Bark sang as it returned to roots and the bone those roots had came from returned.
Voice still too heavy, like countless forgotten whispers were speaking all at once,
“Careful now, little moon.”
Tumblr media
A forgotten prince, smiling warmly as if new life had been breathed into him. A smattering of blackness down his chin that was removed with paw’s thumb. Just that little reminder that whatever had been seen moments prior was, indeed, that same little dreamer standing before Ralsei now.
“It is unwise to offer life up to something you don’t know.”

Okay, okay, Undertale AU now.
So... I’ve been playing Undertale again... as I do once a year since it came out. It’s tradition. So I was kind of thinking who from the Dsmp whould fit which role... and yeah...
(I also wanted to add that none of the characters who are in a romantic relationship in the game are in this au. As a matter of fact, no romance in general here!)
First of all, we gotta give the role of Frisk to Ranboo, not because he played Undertale, but because of that one time that he told the story of how he flirted with his opponents in volleyball (was it volleyball? Maybe another sport. It’s irrelevant!) and that’s simply a very Frisk thing to do...
Then first monster we encounter is Flowey and... I mean... that’s c!Dream right there. All the focus on “fun” and “power” and seeing life as a “game” and the bloodlust... yeah, no that’s definitely Dream right there.
Then Toriel comes in! Yay! Puffy is Toriel, no doubt. Both of them have a focus on protecting the children and they’re both really kind, but can get hella scary when angry...
Also Niki is Napstablook ... mostly because she basically did end up haunting/being haunted by the Secret City for a while... also pretty sure both like music and are pretty soft spoken
Then we get the skeleton brothers! Well, Sans first... and who would fit Sans better then Wilbur! Both of their characters struggled heavily with mental health related problems and they are both really strong but somehow also weak at the same time... (strongest boss in the game with 1 hp and all that) not to mention that they both have way too many simps...
Also that means Tommy is Papyrus. I do not make the rules here. Hyper younger brother who is endlessly optimistic and soft hearted? Yep! That’s him!
Which, may have you think that Tubbo is Undyne because, you know, best friends, but no. Undyne is, in fact, Philza Minecraft everybody. They don’t call him Angel of Death for nothing, so he definitely gets to be the captain of the royal guard in this one! He’s just a much more laid back but equally deadly Undyne.
Also Techno gets the role of the socially anxious nerdy scientist, because he’s been ibernating under a pile of dogs for a few months now and also because he once got peer pressured into murder much like Alphys did into building a murderous robot... so yeah.
Also, to complete the ghost family now: Jack Manifold gets the role of Mad Dummy, cousin of Napstablook, because they’re both short, bald and full of spite
And none other then Eret gets the role of Mettaton (other cousin of Napstablook) because they’re both absolutely fabulous and because they’d rock the Mettaton EX form...
Moving on,Schlatt is Asgore. He and Puffy are brother and sister. Why? Because they are both sheeps and it would fit... though admittedly Schlatt has had less moral qualms with killing children then Asgore so far, they do both have that in common as well
Which brings us to Tubbo inevitably being Asriel, because sheep guy, but also because, as a character, he has a history of being pushed around by power hungry people with more charisma then him, and also because Asriel in his God of Hyperdeath form has a f*cking rainbow laser cannon and I think that’s a very Tubbo thing to have...
Quackity is Chara. Both are pretty vengful and power-hungry characters who are not afraid of doing some seriously f*cked up shit to get to their goals, but also they both care about those close to them deeply and have a sort of tragedy to their character
Also Awesamdude gets to be Gaster, and no it’s not only because there is as much Awesamdad fan content as there was Dadster despite neither of them ever being confirmed as canon, but because both characters are brilliant inventors who got screwed over by their own creation...
For some other fun bonuses I could think about:
Sapnap as Monster Kid just because of the absurdly chaotic personality
BBH gets to be Muffet, for no particular reason aside from general vibe
Foolish as Burgerpants because they’re both underpaid and extremely stressed
Punz as Grillby because: money and intimidating aura
Purpled as Nice Cream Guy because: money
And this is pretty much all I could think about... I would include others but I’m kind of stomped at the moment...
So here’s some revisited quotes instead (under the cut):
Flowey!Dream: “Howdy! it’s me Dream. Dream the Dreamon!”
Toriel!Puffy: “Did you want to hear about the book I’m reading? It’s called “72 ways to crack an Egg”. How about it?”
Papyrus!Tommy: “Ah yes, Music Disks, a great reference for theoretical battle scenarios and parties! To which I get invited just constantly!”
Papyrus!Tommy: “W-well, that’s not what I expected... but st- still! I believe in you prick! You can definitely do better! Even if you don’t think so! I... promise....”
Sans!Wilbur: “On days like this, kids like you... should be suffering in Limbo!”
Sans!Wilbur: “Just... don’t say I didn’t warn you. Well. I’m going to Punz’s. Tommy, do you want anything?”
Undyne!Phil: “...Forget it. Look mate. Tommy didn't come to his meeting today. Say what you want about him. He's loud, he's bit selfish, he's obsessed with disks... But Tommy has NEVER missed a meeting. (...) But now he's gone. And his brother isn't around, either. ... What did you do to him? What did you DO TO HIM? Tommy, who I have trained every day... Even though I KNOW he's too soft to ever hurt anyone. Tommy who is... was just a child... ... Go ahead. Prepare however you want. But when you step forward... I will KILL you”
Alphys!Techno: “A long time ago, I made a robot named Eret. Originally I built them to be a farmer robot for my potatoes... didn’t turn out quite right there. Anyway, recently I decided to make them more useful. Heh, you know, just some practical adjustments.... and I might have been carried away a bit and added some, um... Anti-human combat features?”
Asgore!Schlatt: “I'd like to ask, 'would you like a protein shake?' But... you know how it is”
Asriel!Tubbo: “I always was a pushover, wasn’t I, Quackity? I know... you’re not actually Quackity are you? Quackity’s been gone for a long time. Um... what... what is your name? Ranboo? That’s... a weird name bossman...”
Chara!Quackity: “Hey man. I am Quackity. Thank you man. Your power brought me back from Limbo. My "human soul"... my "determination"... they were not mine, but YOURS. At first, I was so confused. Our plan had failed, hadn't it? Why was I brought back to life? ...You. With your “guidance” I realized the purpose of my reincarnation: POWER”

My Underfell timeline headcanons
Hello !
So, I did a lot of thinking recently and I might write an Underfell fanfiction soon. But since I have already a lot of projets ongoing, for now, it's just some headcanons about the main timeline of the Underfell universe and how I see it.
Obviously, it's deviating from the original @underfell's story, but it's also because I think Underfell is way too nice today. So what if it was more dark fantasy style?
The headcanons are mostly about the royal family, and UF Undyne too. A bit about Sans and Papyrus too, but it's not the main focus here.
TRIGGER WARNING : The text below the cut contains mentions of children and women abuse, violence, forced marriage, murder. Please do not read if you're sensitive to these topics. I'm not joking when I'm saying I'm doing this dark fantasy style.
If you're ok with all of this, don't hesitate to leave a small review about what you think of this, I would love your opinion!
BEFORE FRISK :
So, basically, the part about the war doesn't change much. After a war against humanity, monsters got locked down Underground, and King Asgore, very pissed off, declared that every monster must gain LV to prepare the war to come because he's not giving up that easily.
Toriel and Asgore married shortly before being locked up. It was mostly an arranged marriage, so Asgore could have a heir to pursue his dream of destroying humanity. Except Asriel... Didn't really care about that. Like, at all. He read a lots of things about humanity, and was more curious about knowing them.
As time passed, Asgore became more and more frustrated about the lack of enthusiasm of Asriel, and of monsterkind in general. Unable to keep his anger for himself, one day he was asking Asriel how to kill a human, he lost his patience when his kid told him he didn't wanted to kill anyone. Then he hit him. Toriel intervened, but Asgore took revenge on her too, and never stopped since. Toriel was fine with it, as long as this monster left their son alone.
When Chara fell, Asgore wanted to kill them straight away. But Toriel, seeing that kid obviously had been abused, couldn't just let this happened, and managed to convince Asgore to keep them, even if he had to be twice as violent with her.
Asriel and Chara soon became best friends, and that's where Dr Gaster enters on the stage, with a plan about how seven humans souls could break the barrier. Asriel overheard everything they said, and especially the part when Asgore authorized Gaster to kill Chara without an hesitation. Asriel warned Toriel and Chara, and Toriel decided she had enough of his husband's shit and left with the children. Asgore soon realised what happened and sent the Royal Guard to take the human child, even if they had to kill Asriel and Toriel.
That's what happened. Chara died first, shot with an arrow. Asriel absorbed their soul so their mom could escape in the Ruins as he defended the door, since he knew Asgore would never forgive her. Asriel dusted near the entrance of the Ruins, on the only golden flower he had taken with him as a reminder of his ancient life.
Full of grief, Toriel fell into insanity. She became paranoid of every monster in the Ruins, thinking they were Asgore's spy, and killed all of them. Except, when she realised she was now entirely alone, she lost her mind completely and decided to live as if her kids were still with her. Every human that fell next were Chara, and they couldn't bear her insecurities, so they ran away.
After Asriel and Chara's deaths, Asgore killed six humans. He doesn't know if Toriel is alive or not, and he quite doesn't care actually. Instead, he focused on the Royal Guard and how to improve it.
FRISK'S JOURNEY :
When Frik fell down, they found Toriel, still completely insane, but managed with their kindness to make her understand they were not Chara. Toriel didn't take it well, but in the end, after a long fight, realised that kid might be the key to set them free.
The journey next is pretty much the same as the common Underfell timelines. With the help of Flowey, Frisk befriended anyone : Toriel, Papyrus, Undyne, Alphys, Mettaton. Only Sans was not happy about it, and confronted them in the Judgement Hall, and tried to kill them to force them to realise there is nothing good Underground.
That's didn't really work, so, in despair, Sans forced Frisk to kill a monster, absorb their soul and teleported them to the Barrier, and pushed them outside like you put a dog outside. All done, no one is dead and the kid didn't fight Asgore. Nice job!
Except the kid decided Sans was not the boss of them, cimbed back the Mountain and jumped back in. Toriel, Papyrus, Sans, Undyne, Alphys and Mettaton made a truce to protect the kid and never talk about them so Asgore's never found out about them. And that's how Frisk managed to give mostly an happy ending to monsterkind, despite still being stuck Underground at Asgore's nose and beard.
HOW MONSTERS LEFT THE UNDERGROUND :
As the months passed, Papyrus noticed Undyne was weirder and weirder. Almost agressive with everyone, always late at the meetings, and everytime the same excuse : she needed to see something with Asgore. Now, Papyrus doesn't care that much, Undyne is his rival, but still, something is bothering him.
One day he was visiting the castle for guard duty, Papyrus saw the King and Undyne kissing. Now, he's no one to judge, so he doesn't say anything, but something is still bothering him. He KNOWS Undyne is more into women, she said it a million times as she beat royal guard that tried to seduce her. So what changed?
Some time passed and Papyrus became more and more worry, as Undyne slowly goes entirely silent, a bit like Sans. She doesn't want to do anything, she is not at work several days in the week, and she doesn't want to talk with Papyrus about it.
Except that one day, when she announced Papyrus she was giving him the entire lead of the Royal Guard, because she couldn't assume the role any much longer. Papyrus didn't understand her decision until King Asgore announced on TV that he engaged with Undyne, who was standing next to him, completely shut down. That's where he understood something was really, really wrong.
The next few days, Papyrus tried to see her, but King Asgore forbid him the access to see Undyne. Since he's now head of the Royal Guard, he abuses of his authority to outpass the King's orders. He found Undyne chained like an animal in a room, crying, the face swollened. When she saw him, Undyne let go everything : how the King harrassed her for years, first with some comments on her body, then hands on her butt, then insults and punches when she tried to reject him, and finally how he ordered her to marry him so he can have a new heir. Undyne fought back, but the King managed to lock her up to convince her to go "quicker".
Papyrus heard enough shit for one day, he's getting her out of this hell. Except the King enters at this precised moment. When he saw Papyrus, he understood Undyne said everything, but before he could said anything, Papyrus attacked. He had nothing to lose anymore since he knew he was already dead.
After an endless fight, Asgore managed to beat him up, and as he's claiming his victory, Undyne, that managed to free herself, decapitates him before he can kill Papyrus for good.
The King dead, Papyrus is elected new king, and with Frisk and Alphys' help, they managed to break the Barrier thanks to Alphys realising you don't need a human to be dead to use their soul directly on the Barrier. Monsters are free, and everyone can now heal, and Undyne can finally marry Alphys (after some time for herself, because bitch, that's a big chunk to swallow).
And after that, everyone is mostly happy on the Surface and not killing everyone.
Tada !

Note
Either Frisk or Kris for the headcanons ask? you can pick;;
What if I did both instead?
I love them so much
Frisk!!
A, realistic: Frisk has different reasons to move on their journey on the Underground but they start to shift as they learn more about monsters and the situation they're in. At first they just wanna go back to the surface (for unknown reasons), but then they get curious about the Underground and eventually decide to go to Asgore and see if talking they can find another way.
B, funny: When Frisk runs away from Undyne they're not running actually. They just take a few steps back slowly as if they're about to prepare to attack and then turn around and walk away slightly faster, successfully fleeing. The only reason this plan works is because Undyne is too confused to do anything at first and it's like a cultural rule not to force fleeing monsters into battle again. I also find it funny to think of a Frisk who doesn't speak Enlgish.
C, angsty: Frisk is really scared of heights. One of the reasons they didn't want to stay in the Ruins was because so many puzzles relied on them falling on beds of leaves to find the solution. It hurts! It's not like getting some HP damage in battle, this is their body. They just fell in s mountain, they want nothing to do with heights.
D, who cares about canon: while Undertale seems to imply that the Player and Frisk are different entities (though way more subtly than Deltarune) I think that in terms of story it is more interesting to see Frisk as their own character that makes complex choices. Maybe they didn't do a pacifist run first because they were scared of those who attacked them. Maybe they spared some who wanted to befriend them, maybe they killed Flowey or Toriel by accident... I just think that exploring that is really cool.
Kris!!
A, realistic: They sleep a lot. Kris doesn't have very healthy sleeping habits because of the effect of the red soul on them. They probably have eyebags, and are quiet which makes it hard to tell at times whether they're asleep or not.
B, maybe not realistic but funny: They have always been good at pranks, and before their parents divorced Toriel was a more open and usually had to keep herself from giggling while grounding Kris for pulling a prank on another kid... Asgore and young Asriel where the two's most common victims.
C, angsty: Asriel is the only person close to having an idea of what is going on with Kris and the red soul. He doesn't understand what it is but he was always there to help his sibling whenever they had nightmares or were "sick". Now Kris really misses him and has dropped a lot of things they used to do because they were stuff they did together, and doesn't make sense to keep the tradition alone. Sometimes they go to their brother's side of the room for comfort even if it's empty.
D, who cares about canon?: Technically the red soul was in control when they ate moss in prison so there is a chance they don't like it but... i like to think that they can stomach a lot of weird food too and will offer you the most atrocious combinations, and eat them like they're the greatest invention.
