I was re-reading the Riverbank story because I really loved how you characterized Alex and Steve there, and I noticed how Alex seemed glad the villagers were treating Steve well, but immediately denied the offer to meet them. Is this because they have the bad omen effect, or because they are still scared from their illager days ? It had me thinking a lot so I figured I'd ask !

First off thank you so much!

To answer your question, it’s a bit of both. Alex is afraid of people because of her experiences in captivity, however she is also being pursued by the Illager Empire and doesn’t want to become even more of a bad omen (pun intended) than they already are (in her eyes), and ruining the good life that their other managed to build that she didn’t get the chance to. Wherever they go, trouble seems to follow, and with that Alex keeps a physical and emotional distance though they yearn to be closer to steve.

Very aware of all the ways that she resembles the Overlord, takes things that remind her of him and emphasizes them out of spite.

The Overlord technically 'healed' most of her injuries when he reanimated her but he didn't plan for her to survive for very long. Her legs (crushed by the debris) give out beneath her sometimes. The 'X' over her chest is a mech that lets her fight even in those instances. Also it looks cool.
