I am sorry about the harassment but after experiencing it for so long. I can guarantee you replying them is just encouragement. because after a time if you ignore them it stops.

I’m not saying other sides don’t receive hate—I know that toxicity exists across the fandom. And I’m genuinely sorry that your sister had to deal with that. No one should be getting death threats or harassment over a fictional ship. That’s disgusting, and it shouldn’t be excused no matter who it happens to.

But at the same time, do you see how frustrating it is to constantly be told to “just ignore it”? That advice is easy to give when you’re not the one being targeted. And maybe for some, ignoring it works—but for Elriels, the harassment never really stopped. We ignored, we blocked, and it still continued. And when we finally pushed back, suddenly we’re the bad guys?

Also, let’s not pretend that only replying to hate “encourages” it. Because even when Elriels were silent, we were still getting harassed. The real issue isn’t how we react—it’s the people who won’t stop spreading toxicity in the first place.

Oh how she would try, rolling from her side to her back rubbing her eyes as if she needed to clear the darkness from her vision.
