✨ DUOLOGY REVIEW ✨
These Witches Don’t Burn by Isabel Sterling
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
[instagram]
This duology was so much fun! (I only own the first book lol)
It took me a little bit to truly get into the first book because all the relationship drama was not my jam, but once the mystery element ramped up things got so interesting and I was hooked.
The plot of this is SO good. So many twists and turns, so much excellent world building, so much love and pain and hope and heartache. It was all just so, so good with such a satisfying ending.
The characters in this are great. I especially loved Cal, Gemma and Archer as side characters. Their personalities shone through so strong.
I loooooved Hannah and Morgan’s relationship. They were just so freaking sweet together and the way they communicated, looked out for each other, trusted each other, was a really fantastic contrast to all the Veronica stuff at the start.
If you’re looking for an exciting, emotional witchy read, I definitely recommend these.

This Poison Heart by Kalynn Bayron-
When Briseis's aunt dies and wills her a dilapidated estate in rural New York, Bri and her parents decide to leave Brooklyn behind for the summer. Hopefully there, surrounded by plants and flowers, Bri will finally learn to control her gift. But their new home is sinister in ways they could never have imagined--it comes with a specific set of instructions, an old-school apothecary, and a walled garden filled with the deadliest botanicals in the world that can only be entered by those who share Bri's unique family lineage.
When strangers begin to arrive on their doorstep, asking for tinctures and elixirs, Bri learns she has a surprising talent for creating them. One of the visitors is Marie, a mysterious young woman who Bri befriends, only to find that Marie is keeping dark secrets about the history of the estate and its surrounding community. There is more to Bri's sudden inheritance than she could have imagined, and she is determined to uncover it . . . until a nefarious group comes after her in search of a rare and dangerous immortality elixir. Up against a centuries-old curse and the deadliest plant on earth, Bri must harness her gift to protect herself and her family.
These Witches Don’t Burn by Isabel Sterling-
Hannah's a witch, but not the kind you're thinking of. She's the real deal, an Elemental with the power to control fire, earth, water, and air. But even though she lives in Salem, Massachusetts, her magic is a secret she has to keep to herself. If she's ever caught using it in front of a Reg (read: non-witch), she could lose it. For good. So, Hannah spends most of her time avoiding her ex-girlfriend (and fellow Elemental Witch) Veronica, hanging out with her best friend, and working at the Fly by Night Cauldron selling candles and crystals to tourists, goths, and local Wiccans.
But dealing with her ex is the least of Hannah's concerns when a terrifying blood ritual interrupts the end-of-school-year bonfire. Evidence of dark magic begins to appear all over Salem, and Hannah's sure it's the work of a deadly Blood Witch. The issue is, her coven is less than convinced, forcing Hannah to team up with the last person she wants to see: Veronica.
While the pair attempt to smoke out the Blood Witch at a house party, Hannah meets Morgan, a cute new ballerina in town. But trying to date amid a supernatural crisis is easier said than done, and Hannah will have to test the limits of her power if she's going to save her coven and get the girl, especially when the attacks on Salem's witches become deadlier by the day.

Definitely real deleted scene from the Agatha All Along Finale (it happened in my heart, okay?)
⚠️‼️Warning: SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT! ⚠️‼️
Billy, after tracking down Jen: So…that’s how it happened.
Jen, sipping her wine: Mmhm.
Billy: Aaaaaandddddd now Agatha’s haunting me. Somehow she’s become MORE annoying as a ghost.
Jen, finishing her drink: That sounds about right.
Billy: You’re…surprisingly not surprised by any of this. Did you figure it out already, or…?
Jen, pouring herself another glass: I had an inkling.
Ghostly Lilia, poking her head into the room: We helped.
Billy: *chokes*
Bonus:
Billy, eyeing Ghost! Lilia: So, uh…you said we, right? Where’s Alice?
Jen, sighing: She’s outside. She gets all poltergeist-y when she’s upset and my house’s electrical system can’t take it.
Ghost! Alice from out the window: YOU KILLED ME FOR MY POWER AND THEN DIDN’T EVEN USE IT?! YOU LITERALLY THREW MY LIFE AWAY FOR A KISS, YOU ASSHOLE OF A LESBIAN!
Ghost! Agatha, poking her head out the window: So…no hard feelings?
Ghost! Alice: *glaring at her*

I’ve seen the fandom take a bastard character and make them a poor little meow meow, twice now
Which isn’t a lot but it’s fucking disappointing.

I’m sorry but I cannot get the idea of hippie goth Anya out of my head. Like she goes from this cute baby with all her pastels and dolls to like wearing every shade of black possible. She always has really fun eyeliner. Listens to mostly rock and metal (she’s growing up in the late 70s early 80s like prime time). She wears long skirts with all these fun patterns. Lots of jewelry with little spikes. Her trademark doc martins and her never ending stash of boots. And she’s totally into occult shit, especially witches and voodoo and hoodoo.
But her personality hasn’t changed much shes still the eccentric playful girl she always was just with a lot of dark colours now. Kinda like Misa from death note.
And I do think this would only make Damian love her more because like come on preppy jocks always love the weird goth girl.
And the way her style would completely clash with Becky’s. Like Becky getting into her classy preppy princess Diana style while Anya is embracing her inner Courtney love and it’s such a confusing combination.
And Yor would be so afraid of Anya. She doesn’t want to say anything to cramp her style but also you’re playing with devious there doll. And everyone’s just like who are you to talk?????
Twilight won’t even care. He’s too busy crying over seeing his baby girl all grown up he hasn’t even processed the goth witch part of it.

every day of my life i think about the official peter pan sequel where hook is made of wool, tootles is trans, the fairies are trapped in a colour based reenactment of the first world war, peter wears red now, michael is dead, and the twins’ names are marmaduke and binky

I’ve been kinda feeling really unbalanced and stuck lately, so in a way to do shadow work of sorts, thought I thought I’d give this book a try
A coworker/friend of mine mentioned having her own BAW book too, so kinda gives me motivation of sorts to actually use it

We’re SO boring these days, with the:
“I hate you”
All of these petty grudges, the side eye and the silent treatment when you’re angry with someone.
I want the 1600s version:
“Thou art an annoyance and so I declare thou a witch and thou shall be burnt at the stake”
When you were angry at someone you called them a witch so they were burnt at the stake.
They stole something from you?
Witch.
They haven’t payed you’re money back?
Witch.
They stole your food?
Witch.
They are the last cookie even though YOU HAD YOUR NAME ON IT??
Witch.
They slow burned a couple for 12 seasons and then let them get together to give you your ship only to tear it apart from you in the most gut wrenching scene?
Witch.
They said that Good Omens season 2 was going to be ‘gentle and romantic’ even though it was the most heartbreaking, soul crushing ending to a show and you’re still crying?
WITCH!
We used to be fun guys. 😔
(Yes this is secretly a good omens post SHHHHHH)
