these sorts of posts confound me, like there is near NO overlap between the two groups she's talking about, it's such a weird niche to focus on. and i notice this constantly, this inability to talk about feminist issues without somehow attacking feminists for...being born american, or being white, or being straight, or being cis or being wealthy or whatever. like, those groups (barring the cis shit) deserve criticism when those things occur, like pro military, racist, homophobic, capitalist, whatever, but this shit has just completely crippled the feminist movement, among many other things. the women's march is cancelled because it's 'too white', shut up about abortion, it's rich women's fault, they'll just keep getting abortions anyway, lesbians are actually privileged oppressors, white women are worse than white men, abusers' and serial killers' and mass shooters' mothers are to blame, blah blah blah.

what these things tell me is that 1. social media has warped people to be unable to bring up issues without being on the attack, and 2. everything is women's fault, especially feminists; be strict feminists and you're man hating swerfs and terfs, declaw yourselves and you're who's responsible for all the world's problems for doing nothing (despite it being men who start the wars, attack the women, ban the girls from school, etc.).

au where fadel has a cooking blog under a fake name where he posts his recipes. every entry has that typical long, oddly personal introduction, except he assumes no one ever reads them anyway so he uses it as a diary of sorts. like, "growing up, mother would often be gone for weeks at a time, unless it was time for my younger brother and i to train to become assassins, so i was the one to cook in our household most of the time. this is the dish i would make on the days when i had no energy to cook after spending them at the shooting range" or "i developed this recipe for my late boyfriend a few years ago. he was the love of my life, so it really hurt me when i had to kill him on mother's orders, and i haven't made this dish again since then, but it's honestly a really good recipe and it would be a shame not to share it".

at some point, someone posts about it on twitter and it goes viral. people think it's just a very good bit and the author is extremely committed to it, because through the pieces of information you can actually piece together a full story of his life since childhood to most recent events, and it's so bizarre that no one considers it could be anything but a creative writing exercise for a bored housewife whose name he publishes under. that is, until someone accidentally remembers that a recent recipe on that one cooking blog had a story scarily similar to the assassination they're just hearing about on the news now, and people start connecting the blog posts to other unsolved assassinations. in the end, the consensus is that this is either a very dedicated expert in politics who is coincidentally crazy enough to cosplay as a killer in a niche cooking blog, or someone who knows enough about the mechanics of political killings to accidentally predict things. anyone who thinks the infamous assassin who's managed to escape dozens of times is writing about this on a public blog in his free time is treated as a conspiracy theorist, because, really, you have to be stupid to think that.

was gonna be quiet but actually no I don’t want to — anyone who says “do you regret speculating about Kate Middleton and making jokes?” no, absolutely not, and why should anyone? What the fuck does the royal family do except march themselves out like a show pony for the press? Their livelihood is dependent on people caring about them, whether in a good way or not! And also!!! It’s completely on the firm for photoshopping Kate and then forcing her to say that it was her fault, and for acting like people wouldn’t notice something!!! They trotted out that sick woman and told her to divulge personal details because of their failings, they could have done what they did with Charles and let out a quiet press release but they didn’t, and it’s not anyone’s fault that speculation occurred! If you think she deserves privacy then ask yourself why the royal family even exists, why they take millions of pounds of taxpayer money every year to fund their lifestyles and their selfish personal projects. I hope Kate has a speedy recovery and she doesn’t suffer from any pain from cancer treatment, but acting like this is some kind of new phenomenon is ridiculous. Tabloids have always speculated on the royal family, often egged on by the royal family themselves! So why is this any different?

3. Unusual Profile Pictures: Scam accounts often use profile pictures that do not align with Tumblr’s aesthetic. They may appear overly polished, generic, or resemble images typically found on Facebook—making them feel out of place and suspicious.

4. Oddly Written Bios: While unusual usernames are common on Tumblr, be wary of bios that come across as awkward or overly formal. Scammer bios often sound artificial or as if they have been generated by an AI, lacking the natural flow or charm of a genuine user. There is a distinct difference between a person making typical grammatical mistakes and a robotic, stiff bio that does not seem truly human.

5. All Posts and Reblogs Made in One Day: If the account contains only reblogs or posts made within a short time frame—suggesting they were bulk-uploaded in one day—this is a warning sign. Bots frequently dump content quickly to appear legitimate.

6. Inconsistent or Generic Content: Tumblr thrives on niche interests and communities. Scam accounts often post random and inconsistent content that does not fit any specific theme or interest. The content may feel disjointed and generic, as if it is trying to appeal to everyone without conveying anything personal.

7. Suspicious Inbox Messages: Bots often send inbox messages that seem out of place—overly friendly, soliciting donations, or urging you to click on links. If the message feels impersonal, disconnected from any prior interaction, or excessively eager to get you to visit an external site, it is likely a scam.

What to Do If You Receive a Suspicious Message:

- Don’t engage. Ignoring them is your best option. Even responding can lead to more spam or scams.

- Block and report. Utilize Tumblr’s tools to block the account and report it as spam.

The Biodiversity Saga - Parting Words and Sources

This is my final post in a series I’ll be making on how to increase biodiversity on a budget! I’m not an expert--just an enthusiast--but I hope something you find here helps! 

Finally, at long last, it’s almost time for me to shut the fuck up. But before I go, I just wanted to say a few things!

First things first, every little bit you do counts! And I genuinely mean that. Even if you can only do a handful of these things, or even just one, that’s better than doing nothing. I know it can feel like it doesn’t matter in the long run, that you’re not having an impact--especially when you’re first starting. 

But the ecosystem wants to work with you to grow back and be biodiverse. Even just doing some of these actions will help the ecosystem gain resilience and build itself back. Once you get the process of increasing biodiversity started, it can and will build on itself after a while in a positive feedback loop. Something as simple as mulching or composting will bring decomposing bugs, which bring pest-hunting bugs and birds. The birds will bring seeds in their poop, which then drops more native plants into the mix. As those plants grow, they’ll attract more diverse insects to the area, which’ll then attract reptiles and amphibians to eat the insects. The cycle you start will continue. You can certainly do more actions to speed things along, but they’ll happen nonetheless.

So no matter how big or how small. Whether you can spare a few potted plants on a balcony or patio space, or are collecting seeds to turn your backyard into a wildflower meadow. Whether you’ve got a birdfeeder, or a birdhouse, or even just some tomatoes and beans and sunflowers. Whether all of this is feasible for you, bit by bit, or if all you can do is know how to help and talk to people about it. I see you. And I appreciate the work you’re doing to improve our world for the wildlife we share it with.

And I’m sure the wildlife appreciate it too. Even if you don’t see it directly.
