#poorly drawn odyssey#the odyssey#odysseus#penelope#epic the musical#Epic's version was very sweet and very well executed (and so cathartic!)#But Odyssey Penelope is *so* done with all the bullshit at this point in the story.#Credit where it is due; at this point she's been through a lot.#And to top if all off - her own son and one of the few maids on her side are buying into this (supposed) ruse.#This cannot have been the only time someone tried to pull this trick on her either.#Its the contrast between: 'Oh you're My husband?' and 'Ohh *sureeee* you're my husband. Just like the 30 other 'Odys' before you.'#The olive tree bed trick is a great gambit because it really is the final test to verify his identity.#I'm just a sucker for couples who have a secret only they know between them I suppose!#The match each other in will and wit! They will always find each other!!!#Anyways. The Odyssey is a worthwhile read and I highly recommend it. Epic is also a great musical worth checking out.

A professionally shot, full length stage production of the Ember Island Players' Fire Nation propaganda version of the events

It has no downsides!#There's only a few scenes that are fleshed out in the show so they can reference or fully do those and expand elsewhere#Even if the scenes are done poorly of course they are#Bad casting choices? Typical of the EIP!#The only casting choice that matters is the biggest buffest dude for Toph#There could be a behind the scenes feature during the intermission to show all the special effects#And there could be character cameos but not anywhere close to the camera so they are vague figures in the background

Hopefully I scheduled this for the right time, I am horrible at converting time zones, and I have classes so I had to schedule the post ahead of time.

Me watching a Wicked bootleg and remembering the bit where they use Nessa's character to speedrun through every offensive trope and stereotype about disabled people:

The grand old manor of Northcrest provided more luxurious accommodations than most in the rag-tag group of soldiers in the company of the Rising Dawn were accustomed to - if they ignored the peeling wallpaper, smell of mold and the manor's creeping, foul-tempered owner. Unfortunately, Alex couldn't do the latter. She needed to wrangle their prisoner-turned-annoyance wizard Hyden into doing any work at all, and that meant negotiating with his self-appointed apprentice and biggest fan, their host with the least, Baron Theopolis North. Now she had two egotistical, unstable mages to deal with, which was two more than she ever wanted.
She was common, he was the worst kind of arrogant old-blood nobility, she no-nonsense, he excessively prone to nonsense, she hated Hyden, he adored the man beyond all reason. It was inevitable that tensions between the rat and bat would boil over into conflict. True, Alex was a disciplined soldier who knew how to keep a cool head in times of stress, but the mad mage of Northcrest knew how to get under her skin... in more ways than one.

Not anymore.#This is the culmination of years of miscommunication. There was so much love there. They trusted each other with everything once.#I think it is easy to hear the anger in JC's voice and consider him the aggressor in this but listen to the words not the tone.#It is anger yes - but it is an anger born out of love.#Jiang Cheng wanted him to live - damn the rest of the world to hell if that's what it took. And Wei Wuxian chose strangers over him.#Sometimes two people who once flourished together become each other's worst wounds.#A goodbye to someone you once would have done anything for is a wound you don't easily recover from.#Jiang Cheng could have stood at Wei Wuxian's side and joined him. Consider though; as a sect leader his life is not his own anymore.#JC cannot just abandon the fledgling New Yunmeng Jiang without also dooming people.#And that is the lynch pin of it all. Both of them are trapped by duty. And the older they got the more tangled the web became.#The song I linked (Hi Epic fans) is such a good JC and WWX song that doesn't fit this scene exactly#But it does fit *them*. The words of warning that go dismissed. The Tactical Genius who continues to press on.#The seeds of doubt that grow louder until they creep towards mutiny. Ultimatly this *is* a mutiny! It *is* betrayal!#'You rely on wit and people die by it'. Is that not Wei Wuxian?#Just smashing my brainworms together over here. Don't mind me.
