The kirby fanfiction rec list for people on the r/kirby discord server because i mentioned i wanted to make one and people said i should

(technically a repost from a google doc i made to share there but i figured tumblr might appreciate it too)

Alright kirbros, let’s get into it.

These are in no particular order; you should give all of these fics a read IMO.

First up, let’s get the easy ones out of the way,

Kirby on the flipside by ProminenceFlare is the most popular Kirby fanfiction on ao3. Ok technichally that spot is taken by some dumb MHA fanfic that doesn't even have a single Kirby character in it but thats not the point; KotFs is THE Kirby fanfic. Theres plenty of game/anime crossovers out there but this one takes the cake. Its 300 thousand words long for christs sake, and it’s a GREAT 300 thousand words. If you haven't read KotFs, you haven't read much Kirby fanfiction i imagine. It does not disappoint. Theres also a sequel fic in the works although currently it’s on a break, but it is also just as good as the original.

Second of all is actually a series, Heart and soul by post_it_notes7. This is another game/anime crossover but in an interesting twist. The premise is that Meta Knight, long before the events of Krbay, sought to fight galacta knight in order to become stronger and hopefully defeat nightmare. He does this, and galacta is resealed. Now in the present, nightmare has been defeated by Kirby, and all is good and well, right? NOPE, galacta knight has escaped his seal and is out to reclaim his title as the strongest warrior in the galaxy. Its technichally NOT a metagala fic, it instead focuses more on a friendship between the two. Im not really a shipping person so i actually really enjoy this, their personalities clash well and they get plenty of banter. The full series combined as of now just barely beats Kirby on the flipside (not counting KotFs's sequel, Kirby's dream trials) at 310 thousand words.

Okay, chances are if youre into Kirby fanfiction you’ve already read those two, however a series you may not have seen is PinkestMenace's Planet of Possibilities, Special Treats and Rest (haha get it it spells popstar).

Now I would suggest reading most of these, but if you don’t want to read all of them theres a few key ones that are my favourites.

Control halt delete goes into meta knight’s role in Kirby planet robobot, it’s a fun, somewhat angsty fic recounting the uh, ‘modifications’ star dream and Susie put him through. Its good.

Let the games begin! Is another good one, its quite short, but a fun read.

Do Starry Knights Dream of Eternal Sleep? is a much more angsty fic, focusing on that old “meta knight is a creation of nightmare” headcanon from the anime fandom. It is a very good fic but I will warn you its got some more harsh content in it including some self-harm/loathing-adjacent moments, and as with all fanfiction I recommend reading the tags before reading. If you are comfortable with that though, it’s a great read!

Rocks Fall, Everyone Flies is by far my favourite fic in this series, its got some great character interactions and storyline. The story is reminiscent of the Kirby novels, if the Kirby novels were not childrens books and were instead horror novels. I jest, but this story does have some good spooky content and moments. Its gives good attention to all four of the dream land gang and is another great read.

Alright that’s all for the POPSTAR series, there are other fics in that series but those are the ones Im interested in, I would suggest checking out the rest of their fics however if you are interested!

Where Were the meta-knights? By purblegaymer Is one of my absolute favourites, up there with Heart and Soul. It’s a ‘missing scene’ fic, going into where the meta knights were in those episodes where they were missing, as well as giving us a look at meta knights dumb internal thoughts throughout certain episodes. It’s a long but very good read, going into meta knight’s thoughts and personality in the anime. It’s a very good read, would absolutely recommend to any anime fans.

That’s been a lot of meta knight adjacent fics, eh? Don’t worry, I’ve got other character-centric fics. For example…

Stuck With The Lor by Azzie_Tangerine Focuses on magolor after he escapes from another dimension and tries to live in the dream kingdom. However the Lor, missing its captain, decides to show up and lock magolor in his ship so it can give the poor cat some therapy. Okay that’s not ENTIRELY how it goes but it is the basic premise. The fic goes more into magolor’s guilt and experience with the master crown, creates some fun lore for the uh, Lor, and is a good exploration into how the two’s relationship. Would definitely recommend this one for any magolor fans, 100%.

How King Dedede founded Christmas by NWTGMR is both hilarious and heartwarming. I think this fic might have one of the best portrayals of dededes personality in fan content I’ve seen, with the perfect mix between big soft man and petty jerk. I would definitely recommend giving this one a read, even if it’s not Christmas you will enjoy it.

Half Blind Date by Azzie_Tangerine (again, they’ve got some good fics) is the sole reason why I ship taransusie, which is funny because as I said earlier im not very big on shipping, but this one is too good to refuse. Taransusie is kind of a rarepair in the scope of Kirby ships (definitely not the rarest, but its not too common either), but this fic is very fun nonetheless! Please don’t take a drinking game at how many times ive said the word ‘fun’ in this list so far. Anyway, very good read, would recommend if youre a fan of either taranza or Susie!

Oh, actually, while we’re here, why not recommend Books Are Stupid, Anyways!, also by Azzie_tangerine. It’s a Kirby and prince fluff fic. Very cute, nuff’ said.

Youth by katrinasis is a pre-canon story recounting how king dedede and meta knight met, its cute and pretty fun. Good read even if youre not really into metadede.

He May Even Dream Again by voidknight is a fic that focuses on… Gooey of all characters! Yeah, gooey isn’t really the star of many fics, but this one gives him the spotlight! Mostly focuses on gooey’s relationship to dark matter, its in second person but somehow manages to make it work. Its fun, its cool, perhaps its even ‘neat’. Give it a read, if you want.

The List of Things Dark Meta Knight is Forbidden To Do by WarioCart Is… a fic (I say this positively). Based on that one Scp story I think, TLoTDMKiFTD is both a mouthful to say and a great fic. Its got some good humour, and just in general really funny. If youre too bummed out by angsty fic id recommend this one.

And… That’s about it, really. There are plenty of good Kirby fanfiction out there, but that’s all I really can think of (and have time for) today.

Wait actually, before I go, I should recommend The Olde Switcheroo by TripleMK, its another game/anime crossover but it focuses on dedede, its currently in the works but has updated recently. It’s a good one!

I’ve never seen someone else in this fandom actually make content for Chris and Noahs dynamic, I GENUINELY LOVE THEM SO MUCH, THEIR SNARK MAKES THE DUO SO FUNNY TO ME. Theres not enough Chris and Noah enjoyers in this fandoommm

Assistant!Noah really was a blessing to the fandom that we've taken for granted. I love the concept of it, and I adore the idea of him and Chris and Chef having this bantering back-and-forth whilst he's working for them; it starts out as him genuinely insulting his bosses but evolves into a weird sort of bonding activity. Throwing insults and barbed comments at each other like they're compliments. It's enrichment for both parties.

The Chris (and Chef) and Noah dynamic is one of my favourites to explore, simply because there's so many different ways you would take it.

Having Chref as sort-of parental figures to Noah is the most glaringly obvious, and it's hilarious every time because neither of these men should be trusted with the wellbeing of a teenager, certified genius or not. You could take it in a fluffy 'Chref learn how to become decent people through the Powers Of Pseudo-Parenting A Snarky Teenager' direction, or have the two of them act as fun morally bereft uncles that Noah simultaneously hates and begrudgingly cares out.

Or, you could flip the script and have Noah act as the 'authority' in their dynamic instead; Local TV host is such a disaster of a man that local hyper-competent (and incredibly lazy) teenager takes it upon himself to micromanage him. This one's a great avenue of opportunity for crack fics.

There's so much angst and hurt/comfort potential in any interpretations of their dynamic, but I'm not gonna go into that because. Well. You'll see soon enough.

I reccommend the series kijosakka has on their Ao3 that explores the relationship Chris and Noah share through their shared struggled with ED, though I know the subject isn't exactly palatable for everyone (no pun intended), and there's a tonne of really cool fics exploring their dynamic on the Chris McLean & Noah tag on Ao3 too, so if you're looking for more content with these two there's plenty there to peruse. At the moment I'm really enjoying the Chref&Noah dynamic in This Superhero AU Fic by Noah_bout_it.

dark(ish) academia books that I don't see recommended enough

I read a lot, both fiction and non-fiction, and a lot of the stuff I've read over the past 2-3 years has had underlying academic tones. I've tried to include books I've at least enjoyed, although there are a few 3 star ratings. All of these books are ones I haven't really seen mentioned in compiled dark academia lists (mainly because some of them fall outside the general scope and are more ✨vibes✨). Feel free to add more less well-known books. I've included my own blurbs of the books but I've got shit memory and some I read like 2 years ago so yeah

Fiction

To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf

Takes place over 10 years and explores family and the destruction left behind after WWI. It discusses the feminine vs. masculine in art and while it can be a little slow to read (took me close to 3 weeks!) theres some really beautiful passages and also some funny ones as well — the characters spend several chapters at a dinner party convinced everyone hates them and constantly hating other people too.

The Dark is Rising (series) by Susan Cooper

Okay, yes this is a kids book series from the 70s/80s but it explores English, Cornish and Welsh mythology and has really good characters and world-building. Even though chronologically the series goes: Over Sea, Under Stone; The Dark is Rising; Greenwitch; The Grey King; Silver on the Tree, it's best to read The Dark is Rising first and return back to Over Sea, Under Stone. Anyway, I love this series and I read The Dark is Rising every Christmas because it corresponds pretty much with the days and is easy to place and that's kind of what makes it feel very cozy and academic. Also, theres some brief moments of time travel to the past.

The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova

This is a beautiful written masterpiece set across the 20th century featuring plenty of train rides across Europe and vampires. It explores some of the history of Walachia and Dracula, as well as the Ottoman Empire and European politics of the time. It's a hefty read but I loved it because it combines history, dark academia, fantasy and vampires.

Macbeth by William Shakespeare

My favourite of Shakespeare that I've seen so far and honestly murder is so dark academia I don't need to talk any further. Strangely, I don't see this recommended enough.

Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell

This was quite popular a year or two ago, and honestly for good reason. I think it's only really academic because it's linked to Shakespeare and explores the less well-known lives of Shakespeare's family, but it's very good and I thought I'd include it anyway.

Piranesi by Susanna Clarke

This one feels really light academia to me, but I think it's mainly because of setting. It's set in this fantastical old and crumbling mansion that goes on forever. It's filled with statues and it floods and only two people live in the world. The story is told entirely through diary entries, but it's so well-written because it defamiliarises the reader entirely. It was a light and easy read for me, which is probably why I'm associating it with light academia rather than dark academia.

The Book of Goose by Yiyun Li

This book kinda mixes chaotic academia and cottagecore academia and is a reflection of girlhood and youth spent in the French countryside in the 50s. There's a toxic relationship between two friends who write a book together before one of them attends prestigious girls' school in England. Also the opening lines are amazing: "You cannot cut an apple with an apple. You cannot cut an orange with an orange. You can, if you have a knife, cut an apple or an orange. Or slice open the underbelly of a fish. Or, if your hands are steady enough and the blade is sharp enough, sever an umbilical cord."

Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh

Another classic! I love Waugh, and Brideshead revisited is amazing and my favourite of what I've read of his. The book is quite homoerotic — explicitly so at times, which is fascinating for something published in 1945 — and deals with romanticisation. It nestles quite snugly between Picture of Dorian Grey and Secret History in terms of a dark academic literary canon.

Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen

This is more gothic than dark academia, but it's also a satire of the gothic genre so I feel like it counts. It's definetly not as well known as some of Austen's other works and feels much more raw, particularly because its her first work (although not published until after her death). It's not my favourite Austen, but I love it all the same, especially because of its commentary on warning the romanticisation of other peoples lives and the gothic/dark academia. Although dark academia wasn't a thing in Austen's day!

Possession by A. S. Byatt

I love the main story but because its so metafictive and explores the relationship between two made-up poets (one of whom is bi and cheats on her gf with the second) from the perspective of modern academics, it can get quite hard to read sometimes. It's also really long, but definitely worth reading.

Non-Fiction

I feel like non-fiction is pretty over-looked when it comes to the academia aesthetic which really says something, given that its… kinda the whole point of academia?? Anyway, I read a lot of history books, but I only put down the ones which I found interesting or easy to read, so they're more popular histories than academic histories. Also; essays.

The Year 1000: What Life Was Like At the Turn of the First Millennium by Robert Lacey

This explores early medieval life in England based on the Julius Work Calendar, an Anglo-Saxon manuscript believed to date to 1020BCE. It's honestly a really light and interesting read and it talks about what everyday life was like, which I think is important in history. It's in a narrative style so it's quite easy to read even if you don't consume history often.

Oh, to Be a Painter! by Virginia Woolf

This is actually a short, published collection of Virginia Woolf essays on art. I read the essays all in one sitting because they're quite short, but if you're into art and art academia, I'd highly recommend. There's also an essay on the cinema which provides some interesting insights into todays world particularly as Woolf was writing at the time when cinema was only just becoming widespread and an industry in its own right.

A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift

This is a satirical essay on attitudes towards the poor and it suggests that poor people might sell their children as food for the rich, highlighting the callousness of the upper classes. It's available free online and very much relevant today, despite being written close to 300 years ago.

The Time Traveller's Guide to Elizabethan England by Ian Mortimer

Very useful if you ever find yourself stuck in the Elizabethan period! It's read as a sort of travel guide but includes plenty on history as well, providing a picture of what England looked like in the late-Tudor period. Also people will think you're a time-traveller if you carry it around, which adds to your intrigue and mystery.

A Memoir of Jane Austen by James Edward Austen-Leigh

If you like Jane Austen and haven't read this memoir, you should. It's written by her nephew, so it's quite biased and it's not amazing in any way, but it provides a lot of context to her life and is a good light-read or coffee table book. Also my copy was pale pink so win.

Different mechs have such different responses to needing to piss on their partners in heat.

You've got those who are driven very strongly by a sense of control and territory who have it go off as a dominance thing. Prowl with his boys is one of those who will piss on Everything. He physically needs to know everything, especially his mates, smell like him. No one else can lay a finger on them. He will bite and snarl and spray waste fluid everywhere. Nothing in the room is safe. He can and will mark the furniture as well.

He will pin his mates down and piss on them. Audial fins and horns are his favourite things to go for when he bites down and wrestles his mates into position. The first thing he goes for is the hips. He grinds his array against his mates' as he voids his tank, getting it into all the seams between panels and sensitive cabling. Then he will wrestle with his mates more to get their fronts, backs, then sits on their faces and makes them lick him clean.

If he gets his way, he will get a chance to do the spiking and fill his mates full of piss before pumping them full of his transfluid too. Pushing his spike into a valve full of his own hot fluids drives him crazy.

Then you've also got mechs who are really just full of piss and really not much else. Sure their mate gets marked in the process but like yea thats whats supposed to happen and it doesnt have to be done intentionally. Like Rodimus would just be filled to the brim with waste fluids and it would feel good. He'd feel so full and stuffed and the moment he's touched he can't hold it and he's just voiding anyway. He's a whimpering mess laying in a pool of his own waste as he's begging to be fragged stupid. When he's finally impaled on that spike he's coating that thing in his piss.

He's just constantly leaking. His frame is producing the waste and he lets it out. Every thrust into him is an obscenely wet squelch through too much lubricant and fresh waste fluids that trickle out of him.

He practically screams when his mate puts his mouth on his valve, licking and swallowing the mix of transfluid and slick and piss. In his heat-addled processor, where he wants everything to smell like his piss, I dont think theres anything more arousing than his mate drinking it, putting that waste inside him- His mate will be coated inside and out with his scent. What more could he ask for

hghrgh yes exactly... It's a control thing for Prowl. His hab-suite, his office, his two mates belong to him and he needs to make sure everyone can tell.

Roddy on the other hand would just be a mess. He can't control his waste tank and doesn't care to try. He'll pee constantly as he's getting fucked, pussy spraying every few minutes...

I wonder about other bots.

I think it would be a control thing for Drift as well, but he'd be so ashamed of it, feeling predatory for wanting to claim Ratchet... he'll end up sneaking out of the berth at night to secretely piss over the furniture to inject his scent all over. Of course Ratchet notices quickly and coaches him through heat cycles 101, feeding him plenty of energon so he doesn't burn out and lets him mark him whenever he can. I think Ratchet would be begrudgingly accepting of his urges while in heat. He'll be sluggish and feverish, letting piss flow freely out of him as he rolls in the bed. He really likes to pee on Drift's face. It's a pussy eating kind of week when Ratchet is cycling.

Oh, you know Minimus has some strong ideas about marking. Turbofox instincts drive him crazy while his own pride restrains him from giving his body what it needs. He'd probably try to plug himself up. And when he cannot handle it, he'll secretely, shamefully leak into his chair...

Megatron would either never let anyone know when he's cycling, or he'd make a show out of it, use it as an intimidation tactic by pissing on his soldiers to let them know they belong to him... of course, on the lost light he can't quite afford to do that, but I think it would be kind of funny if he tried to mark the bridge and the captain's chair. it would make Rodimus sooo mad.

RR fans and their scary parasocial ways

So I've been thinking about this for a little while and with the WWWY announcement a lot of attitudes have been re-emphasised online. I love Ryan and I honestly just feel bad- I don't think ruined is the right word nor am I trying to speak on his behalf. A lot of this is my opinion, but also, I'm really not making stuff up I'm just using them to justify my viewpoint. I'm gonna try and break it up into paragraphs, i know i said an essay but I'm in the middle of exams and theres nothing i want less than to write another damn essay.

Without further ado, here's my commentary on fan culture and how it how seems to have impacted Ryan Ross.

To clairfy, I'm assuming he's a bit done wiith the whole fame thing based off how little we see of him- compared to like, Jon.

Initial reception-

Obviously Panic blew up massively very early on, when they were very young. And fans treated them really gross. As a band they were harassed- if someone said to their favourite artist today "I want to lick you" they would get torn up. But there's a video where they talk about these kinds of comments being made to them at shows, and the interviewer laughs. These kids were young. Jon wasn't old enough to drink. And the behaviour was considered totally fine. Was it because they were a bunch of teenage boys, why wouldn't they want hot chicks all over them?

I'm not going to evaluate the effects harassment has. I am, however, sure you can understand. Yes that is just one example. But theres no doubt it happened plenty of times and people did not care. I'll go more into the sexualisation of the members later as well. But yeah. This was the treatment people dished out to Panic, its kinda obviously not cool! This is certainly more general than the rest, btw.

That fan who pretended to be Brendon Urie-

The sheer extent Chelsey Lynn went to in order to catfish Ryan is literally incriminating.

Brendon and Ryan's friendship, according to this, had officially fractured in 2010 and Chelsey wanted to rekindle it. We'll never know the genuine intent and that sucks- not too mention that you could begin to believe that it was driven by a sickening desire to prove 'Ryden'. It sucks that this fractured any chance of Ryan and Brendon hanging again- because Ryan clearly wanted that. And of course, he was so embarrassed. Why would he trust fans, why would he want to interact with anyone after that?

I think its clear that this did have a lasting impact, because Ryan clearly wasnt interested in rekindling the friendship after it occurred, personally I would never want to look at Brendon again after those messages leaked, its just a very personal thing and it sucks. We know that it was awkies between them because of that video from c2016 (made up time based on his hair) where Brendon explains that yeah, they saw each other somewhere and the conversation was super awkward the kind of thing you get from someone you literally toured the world with.

That instance in itself would have been enough for me to flee the country personally, but maybe I'm projecting.

The Milk Fic-

If Brendon Urie knows about it and Gerard Way read it, everyone ever knows about the milk fic. And theres two ways you can address this. I read the milk fic when i was young and it was gross. and then I read it again when I was older and that shit isnt just gross- its like. abhorrent. appalling. offensive. I think the issue with this isn't that its RPF- it's the fact that it is disturbingly vulnerable, highkey is romanticising abuse, and was (and kinda still is) the punchline to too many jokes. Aged 10 I proudly watched 'emo bands on crack' and other videos of the sort a lot, and the milk fic was mentioned a lot. Literally today (october, 2024) I saw a TikTok about it.

I think if i was a celebrity I would want people writing shit about me. Yay for a bit of fanfic. But when the work that is associated with you so broadly on social media is that... blegh. Its like, violating. Modern no quirks au aikugo….. hear me out, Katsuki is seen in plenty official arts with multiple piercings however never has any in canon, probably because he wants to keep up his clean image as a pro hero, so in an au withouuut quirks where he’s not a pro hero he TOTALLY WOULD HAVE PIERCINGS and it would be so AAAAA, he looks so cool and AJDHWOAKJS

He’d have a few helix piercings, two on his upper lobe and one on his lobe ofc, I imagine maybe when we first started dating he’d have a piercing or two less, and he takes me with him to the piercing shop when he’s getting his third helix on one sideeeeee aaaaaadhhggh its a “date” to him while i’m just squirming hoping it doesn’t hurt. Its really funny because at that point he’s more accessorised than MEEE

on that note, because he likes to accessorise so much he always looks forward to when I gift him a piece of jewellery, he’s an insightful person, so when I gift him that sort of thing he understands the feelings put into it, “hold me close” “think of me” “wear my feelings around your neck”, of course he never mentions it, but easily anything I give him becomes his new “favourite”, even when we first start dating and I don’t have a full grasp of what his tastes are, no matter what I give him he’ll find a way to incorporate it into an outfit and make it work. I get better over time ofc, and he appreciates that I watch him enough to start learning his tastes

As for him giving me jewelleryyyyyy It would be tough, i rarely wear jewellery, for many reasons really, not to be self deprecating but sometimes I feel like it doesn’t suit me, or I feel awkward in it. I’m also a very absent minded person, so I always manage to snap dainty bracelets and chains on accident, or tangle necklaces, or lose a ring. Life is easier to go about day to day when I’m not worrying about anything tugging on my wrist so I don’t break a bracelet. I also have this weird preservatory behaviour because of it, saving jewellery for a “special occasion” despite the fact that I never usually have such an occasion to wear it to. Let alone my fidgeting with things that I end up losinggggggg. Theres just so many problems that in the end I never wear jewellery, all I wear is a pair of earrings.

Now Katsuki is very mindful of this, but it would be frustrating, to have him wear my feelings and not be able to return the gesture, he definitely gifts me earrings knowing its the only jewellery I wear on a normal day, and he’d purposefully take me out a lot so I always have a “special occasion” to start wearing jewellery to. Its okay to wear a bracelet, its okay if it breaks on accident, even if I’m a little sad to see it go, he reassures that as long as he’s there he can get me as many as I could ever possibly dream of. His reassurance does help me out my shell and I wear jewellery wayyyy more often with him

Also I’d like to ramble about our opposite aesthetics too… how he wears all silver accessories while I’m very much a gold lover, we’re opposites down to the core but we compliment each other so wellll

hey I love your edits and I was just wondering what you use/do to edit your photos? Not to copy, just in awe!

omggg thank you anon!!! the fact u want to know at all means so much 😭💓 especially when theres so many people posting edits that have a much better understanding of how to edit photos than me!!! (may i direct you to the amazing @yesloulou and her gifs..) ask me anything im happy to share and for u to copy my techniques (??) send me any other questions u have if i dont answer them i cud talk abt this all day .. 🫶🫶

so! i use the mobile version of lightroom when im editing photos quickly e.g. on race day, and tbf, its my main editing app. if that doesnt click with u, theres also snapseed which is a google editing app that i also used for a while until i realised lightroom was free (a blessing 😭). I also sometimes use photopea as a rip-off photoshop if i want to do more crazy stuff 🤪🤪🤪

first thing is crop the image if it needs it. i have a preference for portrait photos, just bc i prefer the way they look when posted. i use all sorts of ratios, but my favourites are 3:4 and 5:4 just bc i think they work best with driver portraits! (hot tip: the rule of thirds is soooo helpful!! find a metaphorical 'line' through the photo and line that up with one of the thirds) (lightroom produces the grid automatically when u crop xxx)

the next thing i do with a photo is correct the lighting and colouring. there are plenty of tutorials online and i can go more indepth if u want, but i tend to favour lower contrast with low highlights (bc i hate when u lose detail in highlights. the bane of my existence). its usually the first thing i try, but if it looks horrible i'll try different things. to correct colouring, i use the tint/temperature sliders (im still learning how to intuitively use these rather than messing around and going hm. too purple right before i post). since most of the photos i edit r taken by super talented F1 photographers i rarely have to use curves, but sometimes i do! so i do that as well before i get into the meat of it if needed 😌

then i adjust the tint/temperature & vibrance and saturation until i'm getting the vibe i want (e.g. i love making max photos cooler toned). then i use colour mix to change anything specific about colours in the image (i most commonly use this to make daniel/charles' skin less yellow and more red toned, to soften any redness or to make max's blush pink). then i colour grade!

after that i decide whether the image needs sharpening, extra texture or dehazing, and then i add grain! i prefer a rough, understated grain so that you dont lose loads of the detail from the photo. here's some examples of before and afters of some of my more complex edits:

-> this one was lighting correction and colour correction! i also used curves im pretty sure 😭

-> exposure and contrast changes and colour changes/grading (can we appreciate this photo.. wow)

-> made photo brighter (pretty sure i lowered the highlights..) n changed the temperature of the photo

How did you learn to draw with shapes?

its a healthy mix of a lot of things! i used to watch a lot of cartoon network and my favourite shows from childhood are things like robotboy, invader zim, flapjack, chowder, dexters lab, pucca and time squad. aside from that i spent a good chunk of my childhood in poverty and at that point we could only afford boomerang.. because it was free. and boomerang just does reruns of old hannabarbera and looney tunes shows which if youve ever watched those shows youll know the movement is typically very fluid and nice which inspires me to try to add a line of action in my cartoonier pieces (not the silly doodled comics i do a lot of course). im also just not one of those artists with a good grasp on anatomy so exaggeration and shapes help me work around that struggle i have

theres some other eddsworld artists who utilise shapes far more consistently than i do like stinkcoke, cunttom, aluc-art, mxttellion and plenty others i just cant list from the top of my head whos art i all thoroughly enjoy and inspire me and i recommend lots and lots and lots

First day of writing my thoughts feelings and experiences here and whatever else. I heard tumblr works well as a journal/blog so might as well.

Even though I'm honestly still not entirely sure how this platform works (especially not on the pc ver) we all learn as we go, don't we?

Anyhow. I gotta get back home from school.. can't believe I'm sick again! Man, it's all the girl's fault for not being able to keep their asses home when they're sick. I confronted one of the girls about it and she really said "You would've gotten mad at me for not coming to help with the project" (we are unfortunately working on a group contest together — a group of 6 girls) like, no girl, no one would. She was the one that got mad at another person from our group when THEY were sick and told them to come to school. Darn hypocrite.

I hate this damn problem doe. Its so stupid. There are ups to it though. For example, i didn't have to attend a bunch of classes which is cool but then again im falling behind w all the lessons and shit so thats not great.

I just want it to be over fast. Cant stand working w some of these people no more. Fake asf

Rn im taking a bath! My favourite thing to do ngl. Its so warm and nice and cosy. Outside, in the parking lot behind our house theres people setting up the farmers market. Ive always found it so endearing and nice!! I love farmers markets and even if i dont buy anything, just passing thru it is nice.

On another brighter than all the other notes!!! My boyfriend got accepted into Uni here!!! We'll be breaking long distance soon. Its all happening so fast but im so glad so so glad hes coming home soon. I miss him more than anything. He's also going to come visit in a week or so!! I cant wait

Next week our school has this thing called 'Green week' where we take a break from normal school activities to instead do other things related to nature n shit. In concept it sounds nice but our teachers always pick the most boring activities for us...that sucks. For example, we'll be going to the Botanical garden for 4 hours!!! That'd be cool and all but we all know the botanical garden like the back of our hands from how much we visited it.. Theres plenty of other things to see, im sure, but most teachers don't wanna bother with actual interesting stuff, unfortunately.

Another small something is that i have recently started playing Star Rail again! Its great!! I would say im doing quite well, advancing through the story and stuff... I still have to properly build my charas doe oops! Thing is, i came back for this new character called 'Boothill', truly a charming gentleman. Haha! I managed to farm around 100 wishes in a week with a bit of help from my boyfriend as well~ I will get Boothill guys trust!! I kinda gave in though and pulled for Aventurine as well ... and i got him. But theres around 40 days left to farm for Boothill so im sure ill be gucci!! Ill be pulling for both him and his lightcone... and hopefully more copies of him hehe~~~

Todays weather was kinda shitty. The weather has been shitty recently actually. Its so cold and it keeps raining even tho not too long ago it was all nice warm and sunny, like how spring should be! I miss the nice weather, i hope it comes back soon so i can wear my short skirts, long socks and cool graphic tees!

I work with Athena and Hekate as my deities. one of my spirit guides is a woman named Elizabeth who looks almost exactly like the album cover for The Fool in Her Wedding Gown by The Crane Wives (i’m not exactly sure what she is). another is this starry being called Aerth who may be a more complex type of spirit guide, they’re all very nice!

chaos magic is kind of hard to explain but the best definition i could find (thanks wikipedia), is that the essence magic is that perceptions are conditioned by beliefs and that by changing our beliefs, we can deliberately change how we perceive the world around us

there are a shit ton of spells, but their components charge the spells (like for example cinnamon helps with money, so using cinnamon in a spell can help attract money). they manifest in varying ways depending on what kind of spell you are doing and ingredients used, from healing, to beauty, to money attraction

theres this one spell to help make a specific person have a realization on what they’ve done. worked great on this girl who hexed me and was a general bitch to me for the past few years. it did work :D

originally, they were hp fan characters, with houses, wands, patronuses and everything but for varying reasons, they evolved past that and I basically made up a whole world, similar but not entirely. a Lot of changes were just me fixing and then adding waaay too much detail into the magic system (because I go rabid for world building)

eg. i threw that whole witch = girl, wizard = boy thing FAR out the window. Those are basically titles now that classifies what sort of magic user are you. Regular peeps are Mages, 'Wizard' is basically like a phd, Witches are homeschooled, Warlocks are the equivalent to 'fucked around, found out'. I could go more in depth if ppl r interested,,,

his apartment is meant for like a family of 4 but he has So Many Books. Even copies of the same book because theyre "collector's edition" or something other. My god, one quarter of his collection is untouched and still in their packaging because he hasnt finished the ones hes already opened yet.

He'll read about anything you throw at him but he enjoys fiction the most

yea theres blood politics in this too but in the timeline, its cooled waaay the fuck down by the time Noah and Perseus got out of secondary school

coming from a pureblood family, his tastes lean a bit more to the expensive side, especially for food.

him and his parents travelled a lot thus Perseus having a very broad flavour pallette. At some point he'd began his own secret little food journal rating and writting down dishes and recipes he's picked up. (he learnt how to cook purely because the school food was far too bland. Just imagine younger him as that one person on tiktok who cooked a wellington in their dorm)

He acts plenty reserved but he can be very excitable when it comes to new things, not just food. Though, he doesn't show it well unless prompted to.

"Decorum, remember decorum" old lessons die hard. His form of being excited or interested is just very subdued, Noah is always first to notice and will push Perseus into trying something.

I wanted to say that Noah is "La la la la" and Perseus is "Ok ok ok ok" but I failed to clarify that they're both cousins, related by their great-grandparents. This isn't something I threw in, this is relevant to the plot and how they meet each other

one last fun fact abt these two: they're technically legacy characters based off my other hp ocs who are like, great-grand uncle and aunts to these two.

honestly the backstory for it is pretty thin bc augs and i just. havent gotten to it other than broad strokes LMAO imo ghost has prob been a vampire for. at least a few centuries. probably just a human. his sire was ???? cruel and forceful i think. lots of making ghost feed from unwilling humanoids and outright killing them despite ghost finding it revolting. he is a True Vampire tho so ghost is inherently stronger than your typical spawn and was considered the Prince of his sires group/manor

soap probably had a very normal dragon childhood i think. silvers are the most social and communal dragons so most likely he grew up with the rest of his clutch and parents until he decided to leave on his own as a young dragon. hes always been large for his age though! he collects a lot of art and will sketch/paint in his humanoid forms bc we looove artist soap!!!! but i always picture him being really into astronomy too so having lots of cool star charts and telescopes etc. silvers love people food so that motherfucker LOOOVES feasts and festivals like no other he will eat his body weight easily. since he can Fly within the region he has plenty of towns/cities he can visit for a change of scenery but i imagine it took him a bit to find a suitable lair with enough settlements nearby. i think he keeps being a dragon secret but im sure there are a couple ppl in each place he frequents that clock him but keep it quiet bc having a dragon bud is always nice

buffy is absolutely my favorite character... i know its like a given but like its not just because shes the main character there are plenty of other characters i love with my entire heart and fully believe could be my favorites if buffy was not the best character of all time in the world ever... like genuinely i cant name a better woman... she means so much to me <3 but i have far too many favorite characters in the show it still hurts not to mention them... picking a favorite storyline is sooo so tough but once more with feeling is my favorite episode that one just means a lot to me and i think its super well done and does actually have some of my favorite storylines in it!!! like buffys arc during s6 means a lot to me and i love her so much... just felt very connected to her during that and think the music is really great and ties in perfectly with the actual plot and characters!! i also really love the dawn storyline its so fucked up that people hate it because they found dawn annoying she is literally just a girl. a young girl going through horrors beyond comprehension and her and buffys relationship is SO Important to me... it introduced so many things and was so good for her character in my opinion. also the whole drusilla/spike/angelus storyline is really good... the faith storyline Of Course is everything in the world ever... a lot of really good ones i could go on forever but!! favorite outfit... theres so many floating around in my head right now but i think a lot about willows scooby doo shirt, honestly so many of willows outfits, xanders i <3 dirt shirt, buffys leather jacket, her cheetah dress with it... her pink cherry skirt, her overalls, that one with the little scarf choker and the pink sunglasses, prophecy girl dress, all of faiths outfits, taras outfit in the 'under your spell' scene, anyas little pjs in that ep too... drusillas white dress and her red dress and coat <333 the red shirt and red glittery pants and coat she wears in angel... her and darlas outfits back in the day.. so many good ones im bound to leave some out :( and i must move on lest i list every outfit on the show off.. for favorite monsters i really loved hush the entire episode is great and the gentleman are so good... id also have to say the queller demon was pretty creepy and der kindestod was probably the creepiest monster on the show for me!! i remember genuinely being like ... wtf when he walked past the door that first time!! what about yours if you wanna share too? <3
