alright so in my "next tøp song i should listen to but not just listen more like analyze it and read the lyrics and really listen to it" we have:
Redecorate
Kitchen Sink
Formidable
Leave The City
Legend
Anathema
Truce
Cut My Lip
Johnny Boy
And most of Self Titled too. I'll finish SAI, then Trench, then what I think is RAB and remember that i forgot that Truce was from Vessel.
I haven't even started No Phun Intended lol

expensive ticket anon, i don’t even think that ampersand is that good. there are tickets available for over $1000 (756 £) a piece. i could buy an iphone 15 pro max or whatever for that money. i really hope these tickets dont sell out. jesus christ.
from ticketmaster???? that's crazy. i really hope dan/the band address it in some capacity, cause it is kind of jarring to see people fighting for their lives and then the bas story is like is that a blue sky? 😇☀️✌️ i know there are limits on that like he cant just say shit but still
ive said it before and ill say it again, though. ticketmaster doesn't give a shit about scalper prices, they're just jealous they don't get the money themselves.
#ask#anon#if theres one thing im capable of it is bringing the haters out of the woodwork speak your truth#but no youre right#whilst ampersand has some solid songs it is definetly not what i would consider to be their strongest work#and this isnt even a production or anything like ive seen people try and justify costs with like oh they have to hire kit and things#like do you know how much cheaper it is for bands to do sit down accoustic gigs come on now#i know i keep on abt it but thats why ive been using mtv unplugged as an example cause that was literally a one off one off#in a smaller venue with a more established catalogue and the full band#and that was like half the price and also i got tickets in like 15 mins#i have general beef with the ticketmaster queueing system bc i know its purely anecdotal#but my success rate in getting tickets has absolutely plummeted since it was implemented#to the point where i wouldnt be surprised if bots actively target sales with the queuing features enabled#bc they know that they're expected to be popular#like the fact that ampersand is even relevant enough to be targeted by bots is crazy#but thats a side tangent#but yeah i thought £60 was too much imagine paying 10x that like how the hell do you justify that#like i literally saw twenty one pilots at the same venue for £35 in 2022#got two tickets in like 15 mins and those were their only non american shows since before covid like??????#anyway in a way im kind of glad i dont vibe with ampersand that much cause some people are super disappointed#whereas was umming and ahhhing about whether i was even going to try and get tickets

MY THOUGHTS ON HOW THE ORIGINAL SONG TAKE ON ME BY A-HA  AND THE MTV UNPLUGGED VERSION PARALLEL TOP GUN AND TOP GUN MAVERICK (blame @blazingstar29 for enabling me)
more under the cut bc its a bit long🫠
ok we all know take on me right? the upbeat 1985 song with the really cool music video. iconic. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djV11Xbc914&ab_channel=a-ha)
right so five years ago a-ha did an mtv unplugged version which i advise you to listen to bc its so inCREDIBLY GOOD I CANNOT. it takes every thing that makes the og song perfect and twists it into something that captures the essence of the original but mature and sad, like looking back at the past. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xKM3mGt2pE&ab_channel=ahaVEVO)
so
my reasons for why the og 1985 version parallels top gun
80s. basic but true.
good looking guys. also basic. also true. promise it gets more in depth
the whole vibe of the take on me video is upbeat. happy. theyre dancing around, its half animated but with pencil drawings like a teen would doodle on school books, its carefree, its goofy, its all over the place.
the music is also upbeat and happy, it makes you wanna dance and get up and vibe
combining video, music and lyrics, the song is about being young. its about being alive, having your whole life ahead of you. taking on the world, being young and in your prime and prepared to give it your all. its happy, its looking forward to the future but enjoying and loving the now. its having options, choice and freedom, to live your life how you want to.
this is what top gun is at heart. its about being young and in your prime, competing, living life to the fullest. its energy, motivation, but in the end its also growing up. its seeing the worst life can do to you (goose) and recognising it but moving on, finding comfort in your youth and letting go of your responsibilites.
its the beauty of life, of strength and just the general vibe of the 80s. friendship and love and loss and the beauty of being young. its saying ‘i have my whole life left to live, and nothing can stop me’
to understand the next part, i kinda like to thing of the ‘85 version as the soundtrack of top gun. its the 86ers song, its their vibe.
and this ones probably got more to it, my reasons why the unplugged version parallels top gun maverick
modern times. basic again
we gotta focus on the actual musicians now. its the same guys singing, just 40 years older. the same song, just looking back instead of forward. by changing the key and tempo of the song, theyve created a whole new vibe. same lyrics, same guitar, just slower. sadder. they've calmed down, lost some of their energy
the unplugged versions looks back on a life well lived instead of forwards, to a life ahead. its reflecting on all the bad things that have happened and accepting them
in the end, theyre both about acceptance. this is very important. both versions of the song are about accepting everything that life has to offer, everywhere that life can or has taken you. ‘slowly learning that life is ok’
except, where ‘85 version is eagerly accepting and awaiting, unplugged is sadder. not regretful, just sadder. more thoughtful. theyre older, wiser, they recognise how life has changed them, for better or worse. they dont regret their life (its no better to be safe than sorry), they just see what it as it is. lived. over. theyre out of their prime, its a new generation now.
but at the same time, its also rebellion. theyre old, not dead, they still have fight left in them (take on me, take me on). theyre still standing, a few decades hasnt changed that.
now tell me, am i describing Take On Me (MTV Unplugged) or Top Gun: Maverick?
mav regrets pulling gooses papers, but theres nothing he can do about it now. he has to accept life for what it is. he has to accept ice is dying, that hes dead. he has to accept hes old. and rooster has to accept life for what it is too. he needs to realise the past is in the past, the carole and goose are gone and mav is all he has left. Mav pulled his papers. There's nothing he can do about it now
top gun maverick is about growing up, getting old, how life changes a person. its seeing how everyone around you is older, no longer in their prime. the younger generation has centre stage now, but youre still there. your still fighting. youve made mistakes, youve fucked up but your still here bc thats how life works. You're quieter, the background to their lead, but you're still there
think of it as a cycle. in every movie theres an older generation, and a younger generation. the top gun movies focus on one of those generations, following them from young to old, and the song changes with them.
the 86ers song is take on me, and it follows them, adapting with them.
now we’re getting a bit more far fetched, but lets say the ‘22 teams song is i aint worried. its got a similar vibe to take on me, but with a 2020s twist instead of 80s synth pop. its carefree, they literally aint worried. its happy, its upbeat, it makes you wanna dance.
now we look at these songs in contrast. take on me unplugged and i aint worried are playing side by side, the older and younger generations. once upon a time, take on me had the same vibe but its grown up. and one day, i aint worried will have the same fate
one day, i aint worried will be an old timey song, the same nostalgic vibe as the og take on me has now, the same vibe as top gun has now. bc top gun is retro, its 80s. rn, tgm is new, its fancy, but it wont always be
its a cycle. its a fucking cycle. the same thing was going on in top gun 86, but with viper/jester and ice/mav/everyone else. we just dont see it, bc we're only focusing on one generation. they all parallel each other. if we we're focusing on the ‘22 team, mav and cyclone would be their viper and jester. old, important but not really. old-fashioned, out of date. but we’re not. its the 86ers story, so their song changes with them, and its what we get to see.
thank you for coming to my ted talk!! i may have gotten a bit off track towards the end there and had an existential crisis but enjoy :)

what this blog is basically all about ig
I Really have no idea how to start this off so let me paint the picture for you; It 1990-something and smart phones dont exist, you come back from school exhausted, fina-fucking-lly, its the weekend. You throw ur bag down and greet your grandparents, since you stay with them when its school session cuz they live closer to the city, and make your way to the attic. You pop in your 'MTV Unplugged in new york - NIRVANA' cassette tape into your walkman, and chill out next to your stack off books, easel with an unfinished painting you started ages ago but could never bring yourself to finish it, too scared to ruin it, used mugs of hot cocoa and coffee you and your brother forgot to take out, and a pile of empty Arizona Green Tea and redbull. You sit by the inner ledge of the window where theres a pillow supporting your back, looking outside. You see your brother just got back, "what a slow walker man", you laugh to yourself. A few later you hear the door slam open and see eric, your brother, waaayy outta breath. "took you long enough" you say, "ya ya i know i know i was late but i got the blockbuster now so lets just watch it" he says. You shrug, as he wheels in the tv with "Dead Poets Society" already beginning to play. " Ahh shit, its already playing!!" eric said disheveled. "Wheres the hot cocoa? WHERES THE HOT COCOA?!", "HEY HEY ERIC CHILL! - i got it, here take yours", you say as you give him his hot chocolate and quiet down to hear the movie. It was practically tradition now, to watch it every fall together in your guys' "loft" that you fight a lot in, but also have a lot of fun in. Later on, when the movie was over, you practice bass while eric practices his drums. And when the sun finally set around 9, you decide to go on a walk alone and have a smoke while wondering "why is the sunset only beautiful during the weekend?".
I don't know if that brought comfort to really anyone and it was a quick type so excuse any mistakes but damn man theres something so authentic in that that makes life feel real in a way. As Trent from Daria once said "Its the warmth of the vinyl", haha but honestly. I dont know how to explain it but your mind doesnt seem to be on pause and mute the whole time mindlessly scrolling and killing your precious time and supressing your thoughts and emotions- which were all guilt of, and one way argue that what i wrote above is also the same thing, a form of escapism; but in actuality, theres this authenticity and warmth to it i wanna blog about. I wanna blog about my experience getting better at bass, cuz yes i do play ;) but i wanna get better. As well as just blogging some cool things i find. As I kinda already hinted at Dead Poet Society is one of my favorite movies ever, I enjoy sunsets but only when im mentally relived enough to realize wtf is going on around me (i really wanna put a dead emoji here but my emoji page just froze on me idk what happened man), I fucking love nirvana and honestly just music of all kind, but i tend to lean more on anything that came out kinda like maybe 70-90, mostly 90s, cuz if feels real and warm in a way, not mass produced or remakes like most things today. Not saying that they didnt have that problem back then they definitely did, just not so much so that the standard is unoriginality and the same fucking bullshit that you just get sooooo tired from. Not saying i dont like certain things from our gen or that i wish i was born then, NO (imagine a dead emoji), our technological advancements rn are so fucking cool man, but its reached a point of life becoming mundane, depressing, and robotic for most; so I dont really know man, maybe it would be cool to have lived in the past, bu we still have our perks ;)
Loads of my favorite movies are also from the 70-90 period but mostly the late 80- early90ish? u know? Like Gia, running on empty, stand by me, my own private idaho, foxfire, girl interrupted, and ik ive said this so many times but DPS! MAN! DEAD POET SOCIETY!! Its a killer movie. & Ive carried out my love for dc and old scooby doo movies like the witchs ghost and alien invasion and mystery inc too even tho its a series, and you know all things spook in a way, yet comforting and remind me of my childhood, til now even tho that could be seen as childish ig but hey... who cares man :)) (im using keyboard faces cuz my emoji bar is still fucking frozen haha)
Anyways if any of that interests you, or you feel any way like this lets follow each and just share cool movies, bands, song, and shit like that and maybe bring a bit of authenticity back into this world while doing that.
Thanks a lot ur really dope if uve read this far and if ur not into what i said then hey man thats cool you dont have to do any of this just dont be rude to anyone on here
hopefully this can kinda be a comfortable place for cool things to be shared by cool people weither by the comments or where ever!
Thanks a ton for reading this far! And ignore all the run ons, spelling, and grammer mistakes man i really couldnt be bothered haha that makes me sound horrible but nah i hope u get what i mean.
Ur so cool and have killer style if your reading this;) ,
Jamie

KAI ANDERSON HCS
we all know kai. most of us hate him. but i would like to introduce u to the kai that lives in my head
first off, MY KAI ISNT A TOTAL ASSHOLE. i mean….he still kinda is bc i still wanna keep him slightly canon. SO HES NOT RACIST OR HOMOPHOBIC OR SEXIST OR ANY OF THAT GROSS STUFF. def not a tr**pie either. bc thats the ultimate EWWW
he dyed his hair blue bc of kurt cobain (bc face it, every evan loved nirvana)
he knows how to patch up wounds really well bc winter liked to get into fights at school a lot and aS WE SAW IN THE FLASH BACK (iykyk) WHEN HE HIT THE- THE GUY IN THE HEAD WITH THE FIRE PLACE POKER THINGY!!! YEAH THEY WERE BESTIES (ill write hcs with the 2 of them soon)
his dad made him learn russian at the age of 6 just bc “if spies were to infiltrate our house, u would understand, son”. kai the. proceeded to forget everything that was taught to him and learned french instead
he wants to live in italy. dont ask. he just does.
his original plan when he first started college was to graduate and do teacher school to become a math teacher and make it less awful for kids to help them understand better bc he had trouble learning too. winter laughed in his face
vincent bullied him into doing a bunch of dodgy shit growing up. which lead to kai getting beat up CONSTANTLY
kai. loves. cake. hes obsessed. hes mastered baking JUST so he can make different variations of cake. he once made a space ship cake for winter once. and it was fucking delicious. he cant make anything else tho. only cake
has a thing for gardening. idk why i just feel like he would
he plays piano really well. he was in an academy and shit too
he has a VERY specific taste in music. like he fuckin loves nirvana and pearl jam and radiohead but i also feel like he would be a soft music kinda guy too. like think cage the elephant and david bowie. he’ll be listing to lets say space oddity and someone will ask him what he’s listing too and he’s like “oh- uh- metal” and he DOES like metal but its a very occasional listen for him
unconsciously falls in love with guys in movies
was the emo/grunge kid growing up. like the man has eyeliner stains and shit. he has to cover them up still but sometimes he leaves them bc they look good
when hes feeling down, he’ll end a cult meeting (bc theres no kai if theres no cult) early and go up to his room and listen to sad asf music. we’re talking where is my mind, all sad lana songs u can think of, depressing metal
once he made the cult sit down and watch the entirety of nirvana mtv unplugged. they asked why, he flipped them off and told them to fuck off. or it was the wide eyed death stare he has.
milkshake addict
most likely will make a pt2 :3

fuck it im rambling about You Don’t Know Cock because its INSANE and i cant never get over it  LIKE theres so fucking much to unpack in the game  - everything is SO off beat, every single sound effect has noticeable delay, they overlap all the goddamn time, its both funny and it makes everything hard to process  - the host’s name is, i shit you not, Bob C. Cock. I don’t even THINK there’s a sign in host, it’s just Bob again  - which makes sence considering that theres literally only ONE VA, and it was a character that their manager pretended to be. i also found this while i was checking my facts and. yep this sure is a thing!!!! (https://youtu.be/UEKrQQ6ktDU CW for drugs, themes of death, and religion)  - he does god awful impressions and accents too and its so funny and bad  - ALSO about the category names. its literally just like, the same 4 names I think. And they ALL LEAD TO DIFFERENT QUESTIONS its so funny its bad tbh - at random points it seems like Bob is perfectly fine with you not knowing a lot about Primus and even at some point says something liek  "Yep- yeah- you really shouldn't be too hard on yourself when you miss these questions- I- I'd actually look at it as a good thing, it just means you don't much about Primus, and you probably have a good chance of making it in the world"  - the entire game was literally made to promote Primus, if that wasnt obvious enough. they even composed the music for it, i think! - the wrong answer animation is literally the number exploding and its so funny to me  - the number 9 question opener is a beetles reference  - theres a question that goes into conspiracy theory terratory, which is even WEIRDER imo, it claims that primus hadnt been on MTV unplugged because MTV is controled by the cast of the Real World and im just like sir what the hell are you talking about  - tbh this isnt even related but i must admit ive even made an interp for this game bc i think its so funny. i might show him in reblogs - OH AND ONE OTHER THING: the question 15 opener has this SFX (https://youtu.be/Qi1KebO4bzc) but without the reverb and it SENDS MEEEEE - btw heres a youtube link to the actual gameplay, its wild https://youtu.be/zd7zuqDWgA0 (warning in advance for sexual humor and even more drug jokes, and some 90s brand humor)

FINALLY DOING ALL MY TAG GAMES AAAA  IM SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG TO DO THESE
@whitedeadflower |  pick my favourite albums for bill clinton to enjoy
not necessarily my favorites but i always pick the same 5 albums for these so i just put 4 albums i like a lot and have been listening to more recently <3
Tumblr media
@opossuwu | 15 questions
1. What is the first song you remember hearing?
english songs: either learn to fly by foo fighters or human by the killers, i really cannot remember which one but it was around the same time im pretty sure
spanish songs: ALL the songs on/by rebelde, my sister was super into it when i was a baby so i heard so many of their songs right as i was learning to become a human
2. What is the first band you got into?
mmmmmmm probably one direction? if we’re not counting rebelde lol
3. Do you collect music on any physical format?
i collect almost all cds i know and like on CD and have recently started buying vinyl but i think im only going to get albums i really like on it since its more expensive
4. What is your favourite piece of music-related memorabilia/merchandise?
SO many things. i really like my nirvana and red hot chili peppers shirts because they make me feel cute! im also IN LOVE with the in utero angel sticker i bought on redbubble that has a transparent border so its JUST the angel, i stuck it on my record player and i love it so so much
5. What is your favourite concert you've been to?
i have not been to a concert yet :/ i went to a little student festival thing my university hosted for us and saw hunny + hayley kiyoko which was pretty neat
6. If you could see one artist (or band) who is no longer alive in concert, who would it be?
nirvana :(
7. Have you met any musicians?
i went to a cd signing for little mix when i was like 12-13 ish but thats the closest ive gotten lol
8. What is your go-to song/album when feeling sad?
i actually have a playlist of comfort songs to listen to when im sad, but i think the song i most consistently go to is encore by red hot chili peppers
9. What is your go-to song/album when feeling happy?
this one depends. probably hump de bump also by rhcp cause it SLAPS and always puts me in a better mood than when i started
10. What is one music-related documentary you love?
EYE only watched a few minutes of funky monks but im sure if i sat down to watch it now id love it. this is the worst question to ask me because i watch a ton of interviews on youtube so i cant even remember which ones were legit docus as opposed to just youtube vids so this question is gonna be basically unanswered. i do want to watch bob and the monster though
11. What is one concert DVD that you love?
i listen to it more as an album on spotify than watch it but Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged is so good
12. Do you prefer listening to playlists or full albums?
usually playlists! but occasionally ill play the albums i have on my player
13. Do you tend to listen to albums in order or on shuffle?
in order, shuffling them is rare
14. What is your favourite deep cut song by your favourite artist?
favorite artist is rhcp and honestly im? not fully sure. quixoticelixer slaps. and i like almost every song on im with you. but i think im gonna have to go with storm in a teacup cause i checked its streams and its not that popular </3
15. What is your favorite CD/vinyl/cassette that you own in terms of packaging?
THIS ONES SO HARD I LOVE PACKAGING DESIGNS. i love how rhcp’s im with you disc looks like because it has the track list on it but it doesnt look bad like other discs who do that do. booklet design i love vices and virtues by panic at the disco and american idiot by green day. idk what this would fall under but i also love how stadium arcadium’s booklet is held in the case and how when you take it out you see a picture of the band. and there are too many albums whose art i love so i cannot elaborate on that without making this 5xs longer lmao
