follow up to this ask! this time im just gonna be talking about my coloring process (i also want to let you all know that im not an expert in color theory since im still learning, im quite literally just going random bullshit go on the blending modes 💀 lots of explanation under the cut)
the three blending modes i mainly use are exclusion, hard light, and overlay. from the guide above you could see how the blending modes work on their own, and how they look like combined altogether. the cool thing about blending mode layers is that it really is all about experimentation and finding the best combination for a piece (also to any fellow inabakumori enjoyers GRAHH lagtrain pose jumpscare)
i went through a bunch of blending mode phases before i ended up with those main three, though it's funny how ive been using the same overlay color for about 4 years now (multiply used to be one of them, and i still use it from time to time, just not as much). im gonna be honest the whole reason why i know about blending modes being helpful was because one time i accidentally had the fill bucket on and had a certified eureka moment 😭
the best way i could explain these three modes is:
exclusion - honestly i still dont understand how it works either 💀 when i use a really saturated blue color and lower the opacity, it gives a cooler feeling to the palette. feels like a mix of multiply and overlay with how it adjusts the colors without making it darker
hard light - gives more saturation and color
overlay - gives off a glowy effect, especially if the lineart isnt completely solid (this is why it isnt clipped on the folder as shown in the example below, keeping it above the layers gets that glowy effect)
i still use the same colors for exclusion and overlay (while i do alter them with hue saturation brightness from time to time, i just use the same blue and brown for most of my works) though hard light is what i use to make drawings lean towards a temperature
i tend to use warm colors a lot because i think theyre neat and also im biased sorry <3. as a warm palette example, i drew yinu and used this orange color on hard light and lowered the opacity
cold colors have a similar process, it's just the matter of adjusting the hard light layer. i wouldnt really say it's completely cold since i still add warm colors because im still biased </3. as a cold palette example, i drew sayu and used this purple-pink (??) color with the same settings
when it comes to drawings that have characters with contrasting palettes, it does take a bit of trial and error but i most of the time i mix both warm and cold methods like the example above. this also helps for art with several characters in general, since the blending modes help make the colors go well together despite the variety
theres also instances where i dont always use the warm + cold combo, since sometimes drawings lean towards a specific temperature instead (like environments with set lighting/shading, so usually i follow that even with characters with different palettes)
tldr; there are lots of palette combos you could make, not necessarily with just the three blending modes i mention. random bullshit go genuinely helps with experimenting with colors!!

woooow they blocked me. i dont know why i followed that person in the first place. i think theyre both assholes. oh well. anyone who Just Posts AI art is probably a dickhead anyway, disabled or no (though talking about killing yourself for a paragraph is giving emotional manipulation to me). Stay mad, stay miserable, im sure youll find comfort in each other with your shitty attitudes.
I'm not here to discuss the ethics of AI or anything I'm coming at it solely from an art discussion place (and environmental sometimes), which is that it's completely soulless and has no thought into it. Effort? To get the right prompt? Maybe. But it doesnt inspire thought or discussion as an art piece. Oh cool. It's a squid. It's a white women looking at a 3/4 angle. With the same kinda bland, flat, art style. Anyway.
Duchamps's Fountain isnt high art. It took no effort. It's a toilet he probably found in the trash. But it inspires discussion that's lasted like... decades. It's one of my favorite pieces because people STILL get mad about it. DaVinci has a similar art style, even - im not a fan of it. Realism, but kinda flat. It is much darker and more neutral though. Soft shading, soft colors. But there's a reason it intrigues people. It's studied portraits of people who existed. At least that's why it intrigues me. were they family? a friend? maybe it was a commission? why did they think that was the most flattering portrait for them if it was? If they didnt EXIST and it's solely the artists imagination, how'd they get that angle? That pose? What inspired this idea? The effort they put into the physical aspect can be a part of it. But then why is Fountain so iconic? The hardest physical part of THAT was lugging it to the gallery.
Maybe THATS why they were so mad. They realize there was no soul in it. The only thing they can bother to create is so menial and pointless. They can type little prompts into a bar and turn up with... something "physical". But theres nothing behind it. They cant explain why they painted the tree that color, or the women has that expression. The robot did that. They can say "I wanted it that way - i saw it on my way home" but I dont know... that doesnt have the same zing. It's not showing me what YOU saw. It's showing me what it's lumped together from 15,000 results for "green tree" on google. I think maybe that's it. Art in any form comes from the mind of a person - no matter how complicated or "good" it is. It's from the direct point of view. A kindergartener draws their family and it sucks but it's like a little snapshot of how they saw that particular moment. They noticed the bright sun and grass and drew it. You can get a robot to do that, but then that's from X amount of people's point of view that it's dredging from. Not yours. You typed in "bright sunny day green grass happy family" but that's not YOUR view of that snapshot in time. Even if it's not from something irl it's a little snapshot into the person's mind, how they were feeling, what colors they liked... a AI cant do that because it's a separate entity doing it.
Anyway. I dont know what moods inspired this. I think I just miss my art history classes and stuff. I'm not smart enough for like ethics or philosophy but art history I can get behind.

very much related to my text post from earlier today- and my general tone and feelings abt this while writing is just like, neutral thoughtful retrospectiveness bc im an oldhead in fandom and ive seen a lot of shifts in online culture. so this is basically me doing a pseudo-anthropology amateur hour thing about what ive seen and also partook in when i was a tween/teenager. but i do actually think i know why so many ppl get really fuckin nasty and petty about ships and headcanons beyond, yknow, the bullshit fake morality dischorse thats just ship wars with extra excuses to enact cruelty- which is that everyone in fandom, but particularly fanartists on tumblr/twitter with a big following who have had a big following for years, are
1) extremely attached to their headcanons and how they view a text/canon (reasonable and human, thats how fandoms work), and
2) because theyre so extremely attached to their headcanons and personal lens they think they're the only one in the fandom whos 100% correct, who has all the answers, who has the ultimate understanding of xyz. in this case homestuck.
and i think its particularly bad in the homestuck fandom because theres so much to analyze. homestuck is a CHUNKY piece of media. its been going for ages, its had so much time to mature and breath as a piece of art. its not for casual fannish folks. even if you go into it expecting a chill and mild time you usually come out the other end with ur hair smoking and with a thousand yard stare. and like, i dont think this is a bad thing necessarily, but it becomes a bad thing when
3) bc the fandom is old, there are a considerable amount of fanartists with large followings who all think theyre the only one whos 100% correct and that their ideas are 'closest to god', meaning closest to the creators ideas
and finally- 4) their following gives these popular fans a constant stream of yes-manning which then leads to dogpiling on anyone who dares to disagree with the popular fanartist's headcanon, or even when anyone just has a different one, a disagreement isnt rlly needed. the headcanon can be anything up to and including smth like height btw, i have seen this happen
and theres also the core of this, which is that way too many fandoms seems to have forgotten what the term headcanon even MEANS. theres too much emphasis on the '-canon', which actually doesnt mean a fuckin thing when it comes to headcanons. its playing imaginary on top of something already imaginary. i dont think dirk strider being intersex is anywhere close to canon for example. honestly i dont even think dirk strider was intended to be written as anything but a cis perisex boy. but its my headcanon, which is a bubbled thing relative to me that i like messing around with in AUs
the thing about art is that no one in the audience is or will ever be ''100% correct''. no one in the audience will ever know what the creator of a piece was actually thinking of when they made it. the only one who has total and complete understanding of any work is the creator of said work, and even then thats not a given if the creator doesnt actually want to think abt everything theyve created. and i think thats okay and normal!
i really really really want to see less ppl in fandom wanting to be Correct and wanting their headcanons to be Hard Unignorable Confirmed Canon so they can be smug abt 'guessing correctly' and more ppl just wanting to have fun and explore a work from multiple angles. together. like thats actually what a fandom does, historically. we're at an arts and crafts table. ive never considered transmasc jade before for example. shes usually a trans girl in my stuff. but transmasc jade is a concept that fuckin rocks and that i now love a lot bc i saw it pop up and be explored within fandom! esp bc trans guy jade is really adorable alongside june. they swapped!
it reminds me of the fuckin 'blue curtains' thing, disregarding bad faith anti-intellectual bs nonanswers. the curtains are blue bc blue represents sadness, loneliness, want, comfort, the sky, the ocean. theyre blue bc blue is the character's favourite colour and the author wanted them to want it in their living space. theyre blue bc its the AUTHORS favourite colour and they just like using it to paint pictures either visually or with words. all of these are correct analysis of why a character's curtains could be blue. theres no wrong answer there when it comes to us as the audience thinking about art. the actual wrong answer is attacking anyone who thinks the blue curtains are blue for a different reason than you do, or that they hold any meaning at all
#our t#now do this for trans headcanons/genderbend aus and ship preferences im begging for the love of god#and im specifically saying fanartists bc of the visual aspect#a lot of fanfic for homestuck tends to be more vague or outright doesnt state anything abt visual headcanons beyond height or#weight or like freckles/scars or hair texture. its also in my experience easier to superimpose my own visual hcs onto fic#like whether or not roxy for eg is ever described visually in a fic imma imagine them as brown that kinda thing#but fanart highlighting headcanons is *specifically crafted* with those personal headcanons in mind for everyone to see#thats predominantly why we're here when it comes to fanart i think. as viewers i mean

Oh, no, I need a certain happy ending, at least in fanfiction. Yes my childhood was unstable, how did you know?

Not hate per say, but just some bitching from people who can understand nuance or disagreed with my take on the relationship

Yes, so far I have only written it in longer form fics with context, all pretty vanilla. I've wondered for a long time why smut is such a staple of fanfiction and I think that people are frustrated with writers and directors casting aside sex as an (often) valuable part of romantic love and attraction. Like, why are you giving light to affection and communication and support but dismissing the sexual component of love with a closed door, winking and nudging the readers. Thats also a part of why RWRB was such a great movie in my opinion, it treated sex as a normal and healthy and loving part of a couples story, and fanfiction does the same thing. It all ties back into sex being viewed only through the male gaze bc bodice rippers have been doing that for years, but I digress

Nope! But I use a lot of really common themes and tropes so theres other fics like mine out there

No, that would be interesting.

No, I would love collaborating with other writers or creators here! Either writing together, making art to accopnay of fic or beta reading one another, my only real worry about getting involved is not making deadlines, my life is busy and I like to know i can work at my own pace and publish once completed so I don't leave anyone hanging

Honestly, Gallavich. But longest running? Zutara, I'm hoping to see a renaissance there with the new series

I think I'll be able to get everything done, sooner or later

I think I'm pretty good at coming up with cohesive and interesting plots, and I think i'm slowly becoming pretty good at getting into a characters head and writing dialouge for them

Proofreading! Bro I will print something I've written out to review but still catch like 7 stupid mistakes when I scroll through quickly after posting that shit drives me crazy
I also want to get really really good at controlling the pace of a piece of writing, not that its a weakness per say im just not as good as I'd like to be yet

Eh, its fine. A lot of the time I wonder who it's for though, like if you dont speak the language and just translate something through an inaccurate translator, it's not really for a fluent speaker and its not really for you

ive been a little frustrated in these latter years of my fine arts major because theres this weird... contradiction? discrepancy? something like that...
but like i've got like only two modes of making art really: 1) fuck around mode and 2) drawing my ocs like im a 10 year old on deviantart in 2008 mode AND LIKE okay Fuck Around Mode is just like. trying weird techniques for the sake of trying weird techniques - its very fun and i learn a lot that can be incorporated into the second mode and i mean i like the things i make in Fuck Around Mode they're nice and neat but like. theres no passion behind it except for THE PASSION OF THE GAME..... you know? im just playing ball with that art, i don't think all that much about my Fuck Around Mode pieces after im done making them until i need something for a portfolio or something LOL and to be honest i dont put all that much effort into it.....
but that leads into my '08 OC Mode where i do, in fact, pour my entire heart and soul in making images and pieces of art..... of just like an edgy angel oc or something. i do include techniques from Fuck Around Mode so they often get pretty interesting! but the subject of the piece is no longer "I Don't Really Care I Just Want To see What Happens If I Do This" and is instead. an anime boy i made up when i was 19. and i really do love the work i make in this mode, it means so much to me truly
but this is where the discrepancy i havent been able to grapple with quite yet comes in: to the IRL layman and to the citizens of the internet, both professional artists and otherwise, my '08 OC Mode is pretty strongly engaged with compared to any Fuck Around Mode stuff i put out there, even if people dont like it they take it seriously and earnestly you know!! but the second i step into school its the opposite - my teachers and peers seem to adore the Fuck Around pieces and many Do Not give a shit about the rest until i really push em to actually look at them.... its kind of bizarre.
i like getting critiques and i like when people interpret my art in whatever ways but its a bit frustrating when instead of giving useful advice on what to improve technically or compositionally or whatever i just get people ascribing passion and personal intent at art where there is very little.
where was that post of the comic where someones showing their art with all their heart and the other person says "this lacks truth" and the first person beats them up. i do feel a little like that LOL
i know not everything i make will always be effective at conveying the personal truths i put in to them, and effort put in does not have to equal an audience resonating with a piece: 2 minute doodle getting a million views and a 4 hour painting getting like 3 max online is a tale as old as time after all and i never minded it LOL i kind of post art on the internet using the same method as the wonderful ms paint fetish artist on deviantart who has been posting for 15 years without fail -> just keep posting what i do and what i like whenever i feel like it and whoever is interested will find me sooner or later <3
but it is a different feeling getting the IRL academic equivalent of this...... maybe its just the way the community in my faculty has been shifting? I've noticed there is like, an assumption, a bit among my undergraduate peers but mostly among professors and graduate students, that the reason one makes art is because they have something specific, clear, and pointed to tell the world. i do not make art because of that. i make art because i need to get it out of me.
i like it if a viewer can get something out of it, anything, whatever it is. im a big loud alien beast of a person like everyone else, desperate for connection and understanding only to be stopped by the barriers between molecules and atoms and everything as usual. but still i cannot make art with the intention to connect with others, with the express goal and desire to understand and converse and comprehend. i can only draw a cartoon character shoulders up facing three-quarters to the left.

I also love your Captain 3 Cosplay! I’ve wanted to Cosplay them, but I couldn’t think of any idea on how to make their hat or headphones, so I’m curious to know if you’d be able to explain how you made yours?

OAAAAGH THANK YOU!! it always makes me so happy when people enjoy my cosplay, i had lotsa fun with it :D
im gonna go into detail with this so imma shove it under a read more
so honestly i kinda cheesed it with the hat and also did it in the most convoluted way- i already owned a hat with a similar shape, one of those sailor captain hats u can find anywhere. loved wearing that thing. but anyway i removed the bit of rope and the buttons it had, then went through the very long and painstaking task of gluing fabric onto the whole thing. this required a lotta measuring, a lotta trial and error, but i eventually got there! i pretty much just cut out the pieces and layed them over the hat in the right positions.
the gold bits on the sides are just half of one of those metal button things u can get from craft stores, and the gold strips + emblem are a metallic gold card. the emblem itself i made by tracing over the game model, transferring that trace onto paper, tracing the paper onto gold card, then cutting out each piece and gluing it to the black disk i made (somehow this took me like 4 hours, dont ask why). i then just glued the whole thing to the front of the hat!
now the headphones- i was actually really lazy with this, ive been desperately wanting to make proper LED headphones with the right cables at the back but... i never really get around to it, i dont know the first thing about electronics in cosplay 😔
SO! with the con rapidly approaching and me running out of ideas, i resort to something i know i can handle. i buy a cheap pair of bluetooth kmart headphones and get to work. so i found that spotlight stocked this very thick.... foam, card? im not sure what it is exactly, but i had to use a stanley knife to cut it. i measured and cut discs out to attach onto the sides of the headphones, then added a layer of yellow card on top.
the pointy part of the 'phones is a cut piece of that thick card glued onto a piece of foam (the floor mat kind) for stability, and then i just painted the glowing dots on the front of the card with acrylics. i had to wear the headphones with the handle going around the back of my hat so that they didnt fall off, and since i would be adjusting them a lot and knew the "ears" might look wonky i decided to attach a patch of velcro to the side of the headphones and the yellow disk so that i could easily change their positions if they got crooked.
so yeah! they may not look the best, and theres always things i can improve, but i did put a hell of a lotta hours and love into em. i hope some of this can help u! and if u can make ur cosplay, id love to see it !!

Artistic Ideas for Wicca/Witches
For Modern witches I kinda wonder if you're an artistic witch how would you incorporate that into your craft? (Personally I forget what day it is and kinda see Witches doing...ALOT of stuff that I just don't have the time or energy for since I put so much focus into my art)
Draw a Mandela or create illustrations with Wicca symbols, like the Triquetta or triple goddess symbol
2. Creating a clay chalice/deity with molding clay.
In the UK the works have a clay mold to create your own creations. Creating a clay chalice or moulding one even without the extensive no-how or even a professional pottery wheel [Yeah if anyones seen the movie ghost just know when I did pottery in art class in school and found we couldn’t USE the spinny disk thing and instead only use our hands I was disappointed to not use a pottery spinny wheel so sad. TT^TT]
3. Henna. (So far I think Henna is free to use) Henna a temporary tattoo, and easily accesable as most people can buy them from local shops.
4. Use photography, use textiles to create outfits and even sew in sigils. In the past warriors had charms of luck sewn into the thread on the inside of their cloaks.
5. Calligraphy skills and apply them to your Book of shadows/grimoire.
6. Charcoal is used as a banishing ingredient in spellcraft. If you use charcoal for drawing, apply this by drawing something you want to remove from your life. Then burn it [aw man how can I draw something then burn it-but yeah watch as the smoke floats it away from your life so dont make a masterpiece XD]
7. Eco-Friendly artistic expressions:
Foraging or natural materials, try collecting natural materials [like pine cones, flowers to press] but don't take it from the source! Only if it’s fallen to the ground can you take them.
And instead of using glue, use tree sap/other types of sap or wild berry juice as paint.
Most people online can create watercolour pigments from rose petals or other things that can dye your fingers [be safe and look at extensive information first!]
Sometimes if theres a page I want to look ‘olde’ I was told to chuck cheap paper in the oven BUT what I usually do [as a brit] after making a cup of tea I use the still hot tea bag and toss it onto a piece of paper and dot it around to create tea stains and let it dry.

putting stickers on your laptop is all fun and games unless youre like me and have horrible luck with them 😭 every time i start putting stickers on one thinking "well its worked great so far, so it should be safe to decorate with my beloved stickers!" and then it starts to deteriorate and become unusable😭😭😭 i dont know what im doing wrong with laptops like im not downloading viruses and i dont go nuts downloading huge heavy software or games. the most ive ever asked of them has been the sims 4, and even that i only tried to play on the best laptop ive had when it was still working well 😭 i want to try and replace the cracked screen so i can do digital art on it again but even if i Do get to fix the screen that wont make it stop being way slower than how it was when i first started using it. id be willing to just forget about trying to play any video games or doing anything that isnt art but like. i would LIKE to be able to play silly little steam games with my friends every now and then :•( but the main objective is definitely just digital art, so i guess ill just have to suck it up... even still, im having such a hard time finding the specific screen i need for it to work with my laptop AT ALL, let alone at an affordable price. even if i figure out how to replace it myself i'll still have to buy the replacement screen, which ive only been able to find at like at LEAST $150ish. which isnt THAT much when you have a Job but i dont. i get like maybe $5-10 every month, 20 if im lucky. id try pushing my commissions more but without the laptop i cant do very good quality digital art 😭😭😭 i can still do Some on my phone, but the image quality is always way lower, as well as the line quality. not to mention the strain it puts on my fingers and wrists to do my more polished pieces this way. i seriously dont know what to do. i can try asking for the money for a replacement screen for my birthday in August but honestly i was really hoping to go to a renaissance fair with my friends instead since thats like. fun, yknow? but i guess asking for the screen instead is more practical since i can use it to do commissions (if i ever even get any. ive only been commissioned like 3 or 4 times over the Years ive had them open. which i understand cause im not really a huge artist and my blog isnt art focussed so i dont thino i even have a lot of followers that are here mostly for my art. and thats on top of everyone else in the entire world also struggling with money so badly right now, like i feel so bad asking for money when theres so many other people who need it to Survive. urreugghh this world is so evil) anyways just. UGH. capitalism is such an inescapable hellworld and im so tired of living in it. i either spend all of my time and money and energy and effort into surviving and end up severely suicidal. or i try to spend more time taking it easy and focussing on things that make me happy but i keep ending up too broke to do anything cause it all costs money anyway. so i end up feeling passivelu suicidal instead cause i feel like i have no comfortable future 😭 this sucks

Meanwhile, in another project: A small 4 part stupid answer about where they go once inactive.
Hello!! I'm DSi.OS (also known as my very very very outdated name, sayah66.) I'm an artist who is "known" for MANY projects. "BUT DSI!!" you say, "WHERE ARE THOSE PROJECTS!! I DONT SEE THEM!!! ARE THE PROJECTS IN THE ROOM WITH US???" and to that i say.
yes AND no.
and heres what i mean! if you care to read, of course. tldr is available at the finish too! (WARNING: I'm making this as one big oneshot "essay" at 5 AM with no sleep. This may not make any sense, but. ENJOY!)
Part 1: The ITCH to create.
Personally, we're an artist of MANY, MANY, MANY, MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY stories and characters. including fun little aus of course. ...But. on the internet, it could be very difficult for an artist like me, because I THRIVE off of attention and interaction, just as my projects do. Most, if not ALL of my projects require some sort of interaction point. And on that note... Heres something of me and my creations, the little thing I call "The Graveyard"
All of these are blogs we've created throughout the years, excluding tests and throwaways. And. all of these would sadly be counted as "DEAD". (hence the graveyard bit. haha - get it?) Though, in reality. We wouldn't count this as dead... more like-
PART 2: THE SLEEPING UNDEAD
ALL of these blogs aren't really dead... just... sleeping! very, very heavily. "BUT WHY IS THAT?" you may ask, and thats because:
LACK OF INTERACTION
They are FAR FAR from dead, they just aren't getting any interaction or traction, and hence, they slow down to a stop. When a story REQUIRES interaction to move forward, you can't just leave it hungry! But sadly, in turn, this does even more harm to the project, because due to the lack of posting (from the lack of interaction) all traction stops! And so, its almost like a painting or a vintage piece left in an attic. It gets covered in dust and left to be found later. Or! You could compare it to a train! The interactions are coal to fuel it...
PART 3: WHAT DO I THINK?
Personally, I just wait until they get interaction again, and. While that most likely won't happen, I remain hopeful. Of course, even I drift away from it slowly, and it becomes a beautifully archived piece of media for myself, and maybe somebody else, to enjoy! Its a big cycle of throwing stories to the internet and making something new, and, while it can hurt, its also a great experience! Without the graveyard growing, I wouldve never moved on from story-writing mistakes, among many other things. Its a real big experience!! Its fun for it to happen while it can.
PART 3.5: .....AND?
okay fine youve caught me. Besides just waiting for interaction, sometimes I update my old works slowly, in a way that lets new interactions come in. and, especially for the OSHAVERSE blogs, there are BIG BIG ideas I still have for it! As said before, not dead, just resting! Inching like a slug. I'm also planning to completely reboot some blogs, or start new events on others! I'm no professional, but I'd say it helps quite a bit. And it can be fun* to meet back up with old friends from those eras! (hiii osha people!!!) *not a promise
PART 4: WHAT CAN YOU DO?
YOU can help a lot! This is information EVERY artist says, but. well. its the truth! What you can do is share, interact, and enjoy the content! See a cool art? Reblog that. See a neat creator? Follow them! Cool story? Share it to others! Needs asks? Send asks!! Sitting on the sidelines sadly won't do much, and, believe me, I know that it can be difficult to get out of that sometimes, but you will not BELIEVE how much it helps. All your love, all your sharing, all your enjoying, makes all the stories you know and love go round. infact, it makes the internet go round! SHARE YOUR WORK, AND SHARE OTHERS WORK TOO!!! HAVE FUN!!! as long as no ones getting hurt, and theres no harmful content, this is always the way to go!!!

OKAY RIGHT let's start from the start then. i'm putting this under a cut so peopel don't gotta scroll forever past this. this is LONG and major spoilers for like. the lore and campaigns but theres more to the game than just the lore
so. from the start with the ancients n' all. this is going off of downpour mostly (vanilla and downpour are seperate canons, but both are canon)
basically, there's the great cycle - like sleep like death you wake up again. you get reincarnated unless you ascend. and to ascend, the ancients believe you need to rid yourself of all earthly desires, so the ancients are trying to basically dol that, the desires are referred to as 'karmic urges' - there's five of these
karma 1, violence/wrath - karma 2, lust/etc - karma 3, attachment to relationships and objects - karma 4, over-indulgence and personal green - karma 5, desire for living/one's ego/self preservation - though all of these are just interpretations, because they're never outright stated what they are - except for karma 1 which is almost directly stated with artificer BUT we'll get to artificer when we get there
and they believe you have to rid yourself of all of these so you can ascend peacefully. they'd starve themselves on herbal tea and gravel to do this, until they found the void fluid with large drills, deep in th depths of the earth. and then come the void fluid revolution
BASICALLY. void fluid holds a fuck ton of energy, and is used for a multitude of things - mainly powering iterators, with mass rarefaction cells. void fluid basically kickstarted large scale technological advancement. we don't know when purposed organisms started to pop up after the void fluid, but we know its after. purposed organisms are basically things bioengineered to do stuff for the ancients. iterators are one of these. also we don't really know much about the ancients other than this, the fact they stored data in pearls (this is where we get most of the lore from, in colored pearls!) and that they wear golden masks as a repression of the self - and then they were used for the expression of the self. lmao
so. ittyrator time. we have looks to the moon (moon or lttm for short), five pebbles (pebbles or fp for short), no significant harassment (sig/s or nsh for short), seven red suns (suns or srs for short), unparalleled innocence (inno or ui for short), chasing/grey wind (cw or wind for short) and sliver of straw (sos or sliver ofr short) - they're all in the same local group(?) except for sliver.
(? we're not sure if suns is in the same group or not but most people just assume they are)
the only iterators we were get canon depections of art moon, pebbles, sig and suns. moon and pebbles we meet in-game and see officia lart of, and sig and suns we only get one piece of official art of - ui and wind dont get canon designs.
from what we can infer from dialogue from moon when giving her one of the metropolis pearls is that moon is one of the older iterators, specifically:
Oh, little friend. Where did you find this? It is quite old, around the time of Five Pebbles' construction. It's a large collection of architectural notes from his facility, during its initial construction. Most prominently the two transfer bridges between our facilities. These were two large spans that ran between our two closest sets of legs, that I can only presume were both lost in my collapse. I exist as an old model, and the concept of an iterator was still fairly new at the time of my construction. Knowledge of the technology, and more importantly its limits, had not quite reached maturity. As a result, certain oversights were made in the long term scalability and sustainability of some of my functions, and after some time my facility could no longer keep up with the supply demands necessitated for the life of my city's inhabitants. I suppose if it weren't for these oversights, Five Pebbles would likely have never been built. That is a strange thought... Ah, but nothing comes from dwelling on "what if" scenarios. I must focus on my present situation, such as my fortune of a cute critter like you coming here to bring me these pearls!~
(usually innaccessible unless in expedition or using mods/dev tools)
so, due to this, five pebbles was built as her direct neighbour, sharing a water source. which.. was not a really good idea. basically, sliver of straw sent out a triple affirmative - affirmative that a solution has been found, affirmative that the solution is portable, and affirmative that a technical implementation is possible and generally applicable - a solution to the great problem. here's direct pearl dialogue from moon:
Interesting... This one is written by me. It's about an iterator called Sliver of Straw. I don't remember when I wrote it... Do you know Sliver of Straw? She's quite legendary among us. Sliver of Straw is the only one to ever broadcast a specific signal: that the Big Problem we're all working on has been solved. The triple affirmative - affirmative that a solution has been found, affirmative that the solution is portable, and affirmative that a technical implementation is possible and generally applicable. She's also one of few that has ever been confirmed as exhaustively incapacitated, or dead. We do not die easily. Sliver of Straw sent this and the ensuing commotion was historically unparalleled, before or after. I still remember it. But... nothing happened - except that Sliver of Straw was apparently dead. When the dust settled we were all still there blinking at each other. Everyone had a theory. Some said that she did have a solution, but that the solution itself was somehow dangerous. These later became known as the Triangulators, who think that a solution should be inferred without being directly discovered. Some said she never had a solution, she just died. And when the systems broke down an erroneous signal was sent. One camp claimed that dying *was* the solution. Either way, after that these different factions developed, as well as a huge forensic effort to recreate and simulate Sliver of Straw's last moments. Some of the simulations were wrapped in a simulation wrapped in a simulation, in case something dangerous might happen. Nothing much has come from it. In my essay I make the case that maybe she should be allowed to rest in peace now.
pebbles, under the pseudonym erratic pulse, went around in anonymous sliverist chats trying to look for a solution. at some point during this, he was sent a purposed messenger by suns - spearmaster, a purple slugcat with no mouth, a pearl embedded in its chest, and the ability to make needles that siphon nutrients from other creatures, which is how it eats. this is not the point you play in spearmaster's campaign, but it was used to deliver a pearl to pebbles with information on how to circumvent the self-desctruction taboo (oh yea did i mention iterators have taboos? their genomes are hardcoded with multiple taboos that don't allow them to edit their own genome or die, etc etc). you can find this pearl in chimney canopy, and moon can read it for you:
This information is illegal. Someone probably tried to send it by a pearl somehow rather than risking being overheard on broadcast. I think the risk of you acting on this is very slim, so I'll go ahead and explain it to you. It's an instruction on how to circumvent the self-destruction taboo. The problem with breaking taboos is that the barriers are encoded into every cell of our organic parts. And there are other taboos strictly regulating our ability to rewrite our own genome. So what you need is to somehow create a small sample of living organic matter which can procreate and act on the rest of your organic matter to re-write its genome. The re-write has to be very specific, overriding the specific taboo you want to circumvent but do nothing else. The method described here is about scrambling the genome of standard plastic neural tissue with temperature fluctuations. After each scramble you browse the resulting cells for the genome you're after. This is of course extremely time consuming, unless you run a big number of parallel processes. I definitely don't have any experience with this, but to me it would seem that too many parallel processes would be quite dangerous, as it would be exponentially more difficult to manage and control them all. The whole operation seems rather risky if you ask me. It might be a good thing that this pearl never reached its destination.
ah, if only that pearl never reached it's destination. so this pearl is what seven red suns sent five pebbles, and pebbles ran this, basically taking all of moon's water and causing irreversible damage to her structure. moon is his senior, and COULD have forced him to stop, but her kindness and patience was kidna the downfall for her - the only thing she ever did was send forced broadcasts to him, and one of them happened to interrupt at the worst possible time, which caused pebbles to create The Rot - basically iterator cancer. he broke off part of his own structure (this is a room you can find in garbage wastes) and tried his best to flush it all out, but it was pretty futile.
so at the earliest point in the timeline, spearmaster's second mission, moon is near collapse but still semi-functional and standing, and pebbles has rot, though most of the rot is in garbage wastes rather than his structure in spearmaster's campaign. the message spearmaster has THIS time, is:
Pebbles, I send you this message as your concerned and long time friend. Unparalleled Innocence had sent an overseer to your can, and we've all observed the state that you are in. I know this is my fault, I should have foreseen you'd be too desperate to escape your situation to do things in proper moderation. For that I'm very very sorry. However, please, don't disable your communication modules. You don't have to go through this alone... everyone has been trying to contact you, We only want to help you... The behavior from your can has become erratic, it's not healthy, and it is not going to solve your problems. We have lost all communications from Moon as well, and have reason to believe her facility may be suffering irreversible damage from your attempts to fix yourself. I know better than anyone how you can be about these things, but it doesn't have to happen this way... please respond back.
which you can really only get if you visit moon first instead of pebbles, because pebbles doesnt give you the mark of communication (which is something you need to understand the iterators). anyway pebbles' reaction is "fuck off" so then spearmaster journeys to moon and she overwrites the pearl's contents to assign it her broadcast key, and spearmaster goes to the communications array on sky islands on its way back to sends, letting moon send her one final message as the camera pans up on the standing iterator cans in the distance:
[LIVE BROADCAST] - (ANNOUNCEMENT) Big Sis Moon to Local Group BSM: This will be my final broadcast to the local group. BSM: Within several cycles my structure's legs will fail. Even if Five Pebbles were to calm, the damage has already been done. BSM: I can only hope that someday you will all find the answer to our great question. BSM: I do not think I will see that day. I want to thank everyone for trying so hard. It means a lot to me that you would all go to such lengths. BSM:... BSM: I can't excuse his actions, but I understand his frustration. We all share that. I only wish we had the chance to speak one last time. BSM: Thank you, everyone. I am happy to not be alone.
and then the next slugcat in the timeline is artificer, a dark red slugcat with explosive abilities. you can basically double jump with an explosive jump, and at the cost of one food pip, you can make spears into explosive spears, rocks into bombs, batnip into cherrybombs and flashbangs into lanterns.
arti lost its two pups to scavengers, because one was simply curious and took a pearl from a toll - and the other fell into a water pit with leeches because a scav threw a bomb at arti. you learn this through dreams that arti gets. so, back to that karma 1 - artificer is locked at karma 1 unless you find echoes to raise your karma. arti is out for revenge, locked at the lowest scav reputation possible, killing any scavengers it comes across. at the point you play artificer, artificer happens to come across a broken citizen id drone of five pebbles. once you make it to him, he syncs it to his structure again, and basically tells you "hey go kill all the scavs living in my city". artificer does this, and once you kill the chieftan scavenger, you're locked at karma 1 regardless of how many echoes you visit. this reinforces the fact that karma 1 is wrath and/or violence!
you can only visit pebbles in arti :[ moon is partially collapsed and innaccessible. the only thing i dislike about arti's campaign because moon my beloved,,,,
also i'd like to add that artificer's ascension ending has her see the ghosts of her pups before she dissolves in the void fluid (because yo ucan't reach amx karma with her - you gotta yoink a scav corpse to fake your karma to the guardians)
and then comes hunter after artificer. sent by no significant harassment to save his friend moon with a green neuronfly that holds sixteen slag reset keys (as said by pebbles if you visit him first with it). however, you only have 20 cycles to do this mission. hunter, alike pebbles, has the rot. if you die on cycle 0 (or below), it's permadeath. regardless of if you manage to deliver the neuron or not, moon will still be alive in any other campaign (except for inv). hunter also spawns with an aquamarine pearl in its stomach, which has this message from nsh to moon:
"Triple affirmative! Triple affirmative! In all seriousness though, noticed barely any rain from your can so figured a little support might be in order. Wasn't that easy to see of course, with Pebbles' shall we say healthy output. Enjoy the slag keys! Excuse the unorthodox delivery method, equipment eroding etc etc. Be well, NSH" Oh. I see now. Again, thank you little friend.
after hunter in the timeline, we get gourmand - which is probably like. the most casual campaign out of any. gourmand comes from the same colony as monk and survivor. it's out and about scouting for new food so its colony can migrate, and it is very rotund (pebbles comments on this its really funny). it tires out after alot of jumping around or throwing a spear, and you can fall onto creatures to damage & kill them. gourmand can also craft things. oh and if you had permadeath on hunter in the same save file, if you go to the same spot, you'll see hunter long legs - which is why we know hunter has the rot.
gourmand goes out and about, going back to its colony once its done looking for food.
and then come survivor and monk. in downpour, it's canon (iirc) that monk and survivor get lost during the migration (this is not vanilla lore, dp only lore). they're the base campaigns, not really interesting - other than monk. monk gives moon her cloak back and brings 2 neuronflies.
after the siblings, we get rivulet (which im gonna be honest. my favorite guy ever) - a slugcat adapted for the water. it spawns with a mark of communication and a water green pearl in its stomach. we dont know if its a purposed organism or natural, but one of the dev commentaries states they think its a natural one that travels alot. SO... boy where do we start. pebbles entire structure is rotted at this point, even his chamber has some rot. large parts of his structure are just.... compeltely rotted, barely even recognizable. large chunks of his underhang fell into the memory crypts, and it... it's. certainly a sight. so rivulet most likely visits moon first, and then pebbles - and pebbles asks it to take his last remaining mass rarefaction cell, and, I QUOTE BECAUSE I LOVE THIS DIALOGUE,
"I ask you this: Remove the cell from its chamber, and bring it far to the east. To a friend... if she is somehow still alive."
IF SHE IS SOMEHOW STILL ALIVE. im sorry i love tihs line hello????? he's just praying and hoping his sister is still alive :[
so rivulet does as instructed and brings it to moon, moon saying it might be possible to insert it into her facility even if it's largely underwater. nearly her entire structure is intact still! keep this in mind :]
so rivulet quickly makes it way to the heart and reactivates moon's structure, getting thrown into bitter aerie, the top of moon's structure. it's... snowy. there's snow, instead of the rains. rivulet makes it back to moon's chamber, and moon has a connection to her structure again thanks to the rarefaction cell. with this, she sends a message to pebbles:
[DIRECT BROADCAST] PRIVATE, FORCED - Big Sister Moon, Five Pebbles SOURCE NODE TRACE: LTTM_ROOT, FP_COMM04, FP_ROOT BSM: This is local group senior, Big Sister Moon BSM: Limited functionality has been restored to some of my basic systems. BSM: I've regained access to this communications array for the first time since the collapse. BSM: Through my overseers I have also caught up on some of the current events. BSM: Including what i've gathered by reading through my messages and equipment manifests. BSM: I am already aware of the large extent to which the local infrastructure has deteriorated. BSM: I do not know if sending this message will be a futile effort. BSM: Even before the collapse I could not broadcast beyond the extents of my local facility. BSM: And so clearly, this forced broadcast is addressed to you, Five Pebbles. BSM: Is there any chance that i can still reach you, despite the condition we both are in? BSM: I need to know. BSM: If in any chance this message arrives, please signal back if you can find a way. BSM: I know it may be uncomfortable for you to address me after all that has happened. BSM: We've both had a long time to think things through. Any anger I may have had has long since faded. BSM: I don't hold anything against you. If anything, we're both in similar dilemmas right now. BSM: And as your Big Sis, you know how protective I am of you!~ BSM: ... BSM: I'm sorry, Five Pebbles. I'll always be here if you need someone to talk to.
AND. UHEUEUEUEUE. this oh my voids. oh my voidsohmyvoids moonie..... i love them actually. i love these two actually.
if you re-enter the campaign after the ending, moon calls you ruffles....
and after rivulet. we get the clusterfuck that is saint. a green, furred slugcat, too frail to throw spears that has a long ass tongue, taking place FAR in the future after every iterator has collapsed. saint's lore is....... um. we don't know? there's a bit of debate on this one and there's lots of headcanons and interpretations. but saint visits echoes to gain karma, and... if. if you try to visit pebbles going from the far right of chimney canopy.... it's. he's just gone. his structure isn't there anymore. and if you make your way to citadel -- no, silent construct, you can see how his structure is SPLIT IN FUCKING HALF. his entire structure is just gone and unrecognizable. it's fucking... wild. you can still find pebbles, sitting down, his umbilical still intact, keeping him just barely alive.. all he has to say is
Little... green thing... ...Hello......Nothing here... Nothing... left...
and. god. fuck. holy shit. you can tell just how little of him is actually left. that rot ate him from the inside out and caused his collapse.
so. uh. other than that however, saint can... ascend things when you reach max karma. and when you try to go to the void sea to ascend like you would, uh, well, welcome to rubicon (hell). uhm. FUCK IF WE KNOW WHATS GOING ON LORE WISE HERE? but you do enter a puppet chamber, and, if you ascended pebbles and moon they're there. they have different dialogue depending on if its just one of them or both of them. and after that, you swim upwards in the void sea, and then saint ascends a void worm. and then you see saint is an echo. and. yea. yea okay. as the ending cutscene plays, it pans down on the broken iterator cans in the distance....
uhhhhhh. i think thats all of it. there's a lot of smaller details but thats basically a lore breakdown
i think my brain needs to be studied for the truly silly ideas i come up w sometimes

my process is very tailored for speed instead of quality (oops soz LOL) so i do suggest this for if u have short doodle breaks ⬇️⬇️⬇️
thumbnailing (for comics) -> lines (sketch who?) -> bucket tool/color drop in the base color -> color in the lines -> one multiply layer for a “base” shadow (in the vid below its purple!) -> one (1) render/paint layer a.k.a lawless no man’s land
full rendering process & more general painting tips below the cut‼️
NOTE: i’ll be focusing more on traditional/fundamental tips for stylized art because i’m sure there’s a much more effective way in digital. I truly do only use one normal layer for render... i think this is bc before i made this blog, my only prior experience in drawing is middle school art class, so all i know is traditional painting on one layer.... pray i can answer this again in the future with something smarter lmao
🌺 MY PAINT PROCESS
1. Choose a color scheme!
It doesn’t have to be set in stone like below, but i at least keep in mind the color range i’d like to use depending on what i want to convey (ex. soft pastels for soft fluff, or warm colors for happy vibes). I try to be as limited as possible for base colors because I tend to go ham when painting, you’ll see later AHAHA
2. Base coloring + Base shadow
Base -> bucket tool in the color scheme (I know other artists are against this but when i discovered the bucket tool in digital art I immediately divorced manual coloring i’m sorry i loved you tho bae) (this is why my style and lines are simplistic as they are, so the color drop works!)
Base shadow -> in theory, warm-colored light creates cool-colored shadows and vice versa. because i’m a fluff addict i mainly use warmer light, so i like using blue/purple as the shadow. generally u can’t go wrong with complementary colors!! (yellow light & purple shadows / orange light & blue shadows).
I make a new multiply layer (decreased opacity just bc i like things soft okay) and clip it on the base layer, then block in the areas i think would get blocked from the light.
3. Color in the lines!
for simplistic styles i swear this works wonders. i just clip a layer to the lineart and manually color the lines with a darker but more saturated version of the base color. it just tends to look more dead i guess with low saturation lol (ex. u can see above i use both peach and red or pink for lines of skin, i guess it implies the blood under the skin too. or something :D)
4. RENDERRRR
when i’m not in a rush i just paint things completely (and mindlessly), but here are the things i almost always do:
line the shadows with a saturated color! i’m not sure this is common but i love it lol, in almost all my doodles just check the shadows—on the edges, there’s bound to be a wild color :D (usually its the light color, shadow color or a color scheme color but sometimes i’m just like boY do i loVe piNk)
my art major friend told me about saturated colors on desaturated bases and my life was changed forever lol. u can see below even when my base is very grayyy, my rendering is very gay :D ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
make the shadows darker where i think they should be darker. usually i can just colorpick from that darker, saturated lineart color!
if it’s a more realistic piece i usually make the highlights lighter, but in simple doodles i find it unnecessary, and i dont like how light/white it looks :( i tend to just make the areas exposed to light more saturated
color in the rebound light~ in reality there’s usually not only one primary light source, at least there’d be secondary light from where light bounces off objects. in art we just emphasize that! so in large shadow areas, or in areas close to other objects/colors, i like to ‘splash’ other colors on
yeah this part is less intuitive for beginners and u have to learn a grasp on the concepts over time, like for lighting and structure. values can be more important than color, so i do suggest learning shading first before coloring, but only if u like (u can always be like me and just pull up references when u dont get how the light would fall on some materials :>). i have more general paint tips below! don’t give up okay, i believe in u nons, we’re all still in the eternal learning process together ( •̀ᄇ• ́)ﻭ✧
5. OOOOHHH SHINY ✨🤩
this step is just me being mesmerized by how easy it is to play with lighting in digital. i play around with the layer settings (multiply for shadow, overlay for light, and often try out the other settings too!). my favorite effect is the highlight glow thing, where u just make a copy layer of the highlights below the original layer, and blur it slightly so it looks like glow ✨✨🤩 overpriced acrylic could never
6. COLOR ADJUST / EDIT
Truthfully i usually skip this step, but my more pro friends really vouch for it!! i think definitely an incredible thing with digital is that u can edit proportions and even color after you’re done. i think they usually use like the curves adjustment layer in photoshop until they get colors they like, but for me, well, in a reaally diligent day i like to slap on the “auto” fliter in the iphone’s photos edit button lmaoooo
🌺 GENERAL PAINTING TIPS
learn basic theory: i think theres free courses everywhere online, but heres a few things u might like to have a basic understanding of: color, perspective, shape language, lighting, composition. don’t sweat it too much tho, it should be fun to explore the concepts!
and for drawing hoomans: proportion, gesture, expression, and veery basic anatomy. i find that overall forms are so much more important to learn than like detailed anatomy bc u can always look it up lol
but remember, u mostly want to learn the rules so u know better ways to break them :)

^this includes other people’s art — when u see good stuff, figure out why u like it and apply it to ur own art

10 Anti LO Asks
1. there's a part of me that wants to laugh at posts like that "body diversity" in LO, but at the same time i just pity them. its very clear to me LO fans are becoming a bit more aware it's not living up to its progressive and feminist claims and they're just resorting to crumbs or just making stuff up to try and make it seem deeper than it actually is. they didnt need to hype it up a something its not, and now they're double down and making themselves look foolish in trying to make up for it.
2. i dont think webtoons knows what a graphic novel is either if theyre called the print version of LO that, bc GNs require a storyline and arcs to be done in one book, not hacked up into pieces like rachel is doing (for that sweet $$$). like hooky's print version is a graphic novel because it's self contained story, LO is not that.
3. yeah itd be one thing if pysche was depicted with textured hair from the beginning, but she wasnt. so now rachel giving her textured hair (i swear does she know there are actual natural hair and braid brushes for her to use?) just looks like her realizing nearly 4 years in she made an all white, straight cast and is trying to diversify it now for brownie points. its like jkr claiming her//mione could have been black despite her being called white in the text. it's just virtue signaling.
4. ngl its kinda a bad look all the LO merch and stuff webtoons uses for ads are at best only from the first 25 ish episodes, but more so only the first THREE episodes. like why arent you guys using more recent art? surely they should showcase what the comic is currently like, right? seems a bit weird to not show how much its degraded since early 2018 ...
5. the thing with comics and esp webtoons is like sure yeah on some panels you can get more cartoony with the anatomy for like a comedic moment or w/e, but rachel and the art team literally cannot keep the characters looking even in the same style from panel to panel, which isnt good. the characters cant suddenly change body types and whole facial features in the span of a few seconds, that's not a good style, thats laziness and a lack of consistency on everyone's part.
6. hades in the hades game is literally the antagonist and even he makes sure everyone is paid, gets time off, benefits, and even throughout the game gets them perks like a more entertainment and leisure options, hes literally the barely minimum to be better than and lo hades is a thousand times worse.
7. I feel like RS is trying to pull the whole "Three brothers! Two are crazy and wacky and the third is the straight man!" Trope with Hades, Zeus, and Poseidon. Except, for whatever reason, it's REALLY not working???
8. is lo artemis supposed to be british or is that anon just joking? bc if not does rachel know claiming greek mythology and making them a bunch of british people is heavily connected to really racist and white washing ideals? especially with the british colonizing and looting greece of their stories, culture, and artifacts as their own? then again rachel's ancestors were english ppl who even england couldnt stand so i guess we cant be surprised the colonizer gene is still in there 💀
From OP, not Anon: Honestly, I'm not sure since that could just be that anon's interpretation. From her dream cast, she picked a black woman to be Artemis so I think that counts for something. Although, I feel like RS might change it if she were to redo her dream cast because that would also mean Apollo (and most likely Leto) would be black and that's not a good look imo. Especially since Persephone would be played by white/fair-skinned actors.
9. its weird how LO fans go "according to the myths" when trying to justify anything in the comic because like what myth(s) is it even going off of? theres no myth persephone goes willingly, or of her on trial of mass murder, or apollo r//ping her, or her being involved with daphne, or hades and hera having an affair, or all these other made up plots. they cant go "according to the myths" when maybe 1% of any of it being myth accurate, with the rest just being rachel's nonsense fanfic.
10. i already have a problem with how rachel depicts the gods, but her idea that zeus isnt really that powerful, respected, or important compared to someone like hades and persephone is an insult. im not saying you have to like zeus, but he was and still seen as a major important religious and cultural figure, and to remove all his importance to prop up "her faves" isn't just bad writing, it spits in the face of centuries of his cultural and religious significance. it's not honoring, it's insulting.

My OOTD is usually just jeans and a t-shirt. I find it super hard to come up with outfits. Do you have any advice on finding your style?
(that being said I realise this is not the main focus of your blog, but a testament to the fact that you can do it all and you seem really competent lol pls help me ;) )
hello!! thank you for this ask and for persevering through my fashion posts. lol, im glad you think im competent (or at the very least are not annoyed and slamming the block/unfollow button).
a couple things!! (Below cut to avoid long post 💜)
1. jeans and tshirts are GREAT. a lot of MY outfits are also this (or swap t-shirt with tanktop/crop top) and those are two staples to build an outfit around!!
2. are their colors on the tshirt you can play with? (Someone had an ootd with a green shirt with pink and white flowers and my brain immediately said, OH HOT PINK SHOE, LEGGO). Can you accessorize in a way thats practical for your life (theres a reason i dont wear earrings, necklaces or bracelets!)? Can you add a jacket or some kind of OTHER statement piece to add "interest" (tbh i love a jeans and tshirt moment and then throwing on my baby blue suede fringe jacket, or my brown leather)?
3. I know its stupid, but look online at outfits. Type in "jeans and tshirt outfits" into google and scroll until you find someone that you resonate with. and go down rabbit holes. i take a lot of influence from celebs, looking at how they use color and basics etc. i think, what was important for me to was learning about CONCEPTS for outfits. like vibes? its not about having the exact pieces, its the essence.
4. And this is most important:
outfits only work if you are comfy in them. i have left the house and then gone back in to change because i wasnt comfy, something was off and SOMETIMES that means just throwing on jeans and a crop top and a black heel and were good. And I KNOW that my clothes dont...seem comfy? But they are for ME.
im not a professional by any means, im just a person who thinks fashion is FUN. like i too get to be an art piece (which is ironic because of how much i hate attention)?? and so many fashionistas will be like "play with proportion!" "Use texture to elevate a look!" (also all the bs fashion tips that are about making...bodies appear a certain way, miss me with that). Which like...yah...if you WANT. But its not necessary.
My biggest advice is go into your closet and PLAY. put random things together, layer, explore, have fun. and if, in the end, you put on jeans and tshirt and THAT is what feels the most like you? Beautiful. Its a look. 10/10, no notes, theyre giving authentically them.
