Imagine looking at a character whose entire premise is that in every stage of his life, he's made every version of himself into someone that inspires people to such a degree that EVERY SINGLE VERSION OF HIM has people wanting to literally follow in his footsteps in some way or another.....

And coming to the conclusion that like.....the most important things about him are the sum of all his trappings. His entirely homemade developed from scratch could not exist if not for what he already was and brought with him BEFORE crafting this newest version of himself trappings, with his greatest trait throughout all of it being his adaptability; his ability and willingness to roll with the punches and not try to simply weather any opposition or changes to his life but instead reshape himself as needed to better fit INTO whatever new shape his life and the world around him takes. All while managing to carry the most innate, fundamental and necessary aspects of himself from one version to the next. Thus every single version of himself is different but simultaneously every single version of himself is also undeniably the same person.

The strength of this character, to me, will always be that he can be so many versions of himself, he can become so many things, all without ever actually losing or discarding any of the aspects of himself he considers most essential, the things he's not willing to lose or give up just to keep going. Finding that road not taken by most, usually because most never even think to look for it as an option. But one that he's always able to find because the one trick he's mastered in his tumultuous life is threading that needle of not just digging in his heels in an unproductive way but rather being selective about when and where he makes a stand and decides "this is not a thing I'm willing to compromise about" but here are places and ways I can and will change and evolve and adapt in order to make it possible for me to hold onto these parts and keep them as they are.

And that's why its always so mind-boggling to me that so many writers can't seem to think of anything else to do with Dick Grayson other than invent some new reason for him to just....not be that person, or to like just take the character whose most basic fundamental trait he's NOT about to compromise on is willingly giving up his spot in the driver's seat of his own life.....and make him just a passenger in his own life and stories.

Dick Grayson at age nine....at age nineteen...at age twenty nine....the one core thread running through all versions of him is the only way he's standing back and letting you call the shots for him or putting him on the sidelines in some way is over his dead body.

HOW he goes about that, what that looks like, who he becomes and what aspects of himself he plays up at some times and what traits he lets fall by the wayside at other times when they offer less in service to his primary goal here....that changes constantly. He changes constantly.

But those changes are almost always (or at least they used to be/should be IN MY OPINION) made with the intention of keeping certain things about him or his life as consistent as possible.

That's the duality of Dick Grayson that I'm here for. The inherent contradiction of him that COULD allow for endless conflict and breaking new narrative ground in all sorts of ways if mined properly:

His eternal willingness to compromise....but only ever in pursuit of doubling down on the ways he's not willing to compromise.

Forever walking that tightrope in ways that only a kid born and raised in a circus could ever hope to.

so a bit of context in regards to my minecraft LoreTM: angels are things called out-of-bounders aka things that really shouldnt exist but for one reason or another do, other kinds of oobs are glitches (corrupted code come to life, ex: ashswag), homunculli (concentrated magic and code come together to create a living creature, often comes in the form of celestial bodies or similar due to higher chances of magic and code concentration in those areas, ex: zam), voidwalkers (eldritch creatures drenched in dark matter, pure magic concentration come to life, ex: half of what spoke is), and herobrines (corrupt duplicate player code come to life, usually takes form after a particularly code-stress heavy death, ex: herobrine) angels are the result of code corruption in pre-existing players and there's a 50% chance they turn nonexistent in the process with no way to get them back not even with respawn

ro used to be a regular human but all the wacky shit that happens in ls corrupted his code (unsure when yet) and he became an angel, it took around a week for ro to stop glitching out, needless to say mapicc was very relieved when his bestie didnt disappear into nonexistence

since we all appear to be talking about izzy 'calling the police' on stede id like to offer my silly little two cents:

at most, izzys actions sped up badminton catching up with stede, but its made very clear that badminton wanted Stede dead well before this, and was willing to use whatever he could to find him- whos to say jackie wouldnt have cut a deal on her own? that any other pirate thats seen them being unsubtle in a port wouldn't take the opportunity to make a quick buck over a guy who is Nobody and holds no influence that could lead to any consequences for them?

in reality izzy is probably the only person who would receive negative repercussions to selling out stede, given his personal connection with ed- any other pirate would probably have gotten away unscathed, anonymous. they likely wouldnt have even been present like izzy was. izzy had personal stakes, anyone else would have taken the money and ran

the way i see it, with or without izzy the events of episode 10 probably would have happened in some degree, izzy just expedited the timeline

I feel like I never see people talk about how scary chasers are. The pure dread I feel when I see hordes of people lust over their atomized perception of what trans women are. The jokes that reduce us to mere tropes, an exotic off-shoot of real girls. It horrifies me how little agency I have in how strangers talk about me and people like me. There are some chasers that really want to be perceived as allies to trans women, and I've tried reasoning with those people. It's like I'm a ghost. I am not actively in that moment an object of their desire, so I do not exist in their world.

I know someone else said they hope the boys never find out about the body switch/new universe situation but I kinda hope they do because she seems like a character who would benefit from. *a lot* of reassurance. It's something I needed too. Went looking around on ao3 for something similar and found NOTHING other than one fic that ended in routes. Which we do not do here its poly ending or nothing. And you're totally right she is a character that needs a lot of reassurance and will not be dealing with this yandere stuff in any normal way. I.e.: comedically, instead of just horrified. Comedically horrified. because I can't take anything seriously (sorry). also I shared a sneak peak for chapter 2 over here which is like the first 3 paragraphs of weirdo tim's inner monologue. I'm not entirely sure I have his character right but like, I will always write a character weirder than in canon. tim drake IS insane and I will spread the gospel. they're all insane they dress up like bats and birds and run around gotham city at night punching mental patients and homeless people. that IS a definitively crazy thing to do. I feel sorry for Alfred :( also, another minor but obvious spoiler here

There are actually quite a few big 'reveals' in this fic (I'm sure you can guess what a few of the others are) but that's like... the fun part. i think the funniest ocs ive ever had were it was like a next gen crossover au where all webseries (of the 2000s-2010s for reference) exist in the same world but its like the kids of the characters and the main character (and couple) were an eddsworld fankid and a dick figures fankid

Okay so basically the United States MINT of all people is going to be working with DC to make a line of coins! These coins sadly won't be in circulation (the things I would do to live in a world where I could get Batman coins from the supermarket) as they're collectors coins, but will be releasing over the course of the next 3 years, 2025-2027.

Designs haven't been released yet (the same is true for all 2025 designs) but we know there will be 9 coins in total (3 each year) with the first year featuring (of course!!!) Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman.

Although we know the first three heroes to be featured, the remaining six have yet to be decided, and it turns out the Mint is putting out a survey on their site to gauge which of a group of culturally significant heroes people want to see most! (link to the form is mentioned in the article above)

The considered group includes: Supergirl, the Flash, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Captain Marvel, John Stewart GL, Aquaman, Hawkman, Jamie Reyes BB, Robin (Damian?), Cyborg, and Batgirl, of which 6 will be selected.

As someone who does a bit of coin collecting myself (mainly circulation coins like the quarters sets, but I also have a couple proof and collectors coins) I think this is a really cool and interesting idea that showcases the history of the comics medium and these characters and their influence on American culture. Really excited to wait and see what the designs look like for the coins already announced!
