I would like to see the Jewish headcanons please
Hi yes thank you so much I wasn't fishing for this at all
We've already covered this in that post that gained me 150 followers in a week, but obviously Peter Parker is Jewish. My personal headcanon is that he's Ashkenazi and somewhere between Reform and Conservative. Like he flip flops on keeping Kosher and observes the high holidays as best as he can assuming there's no world saving he needs to get done, but overall being Jewish to him is about community and culture over the religious part of it
For Bucky Barnes, however, being observant was a way to reclaim his identity after... Well, you know. He's vaguely conservadox? He doesn't really define it beyond being Sephardic. He keeps Kosher (which was difficult during WWII unfortunately) and wears tzitzit and goes to shul whenever he can. He'd love to keep Shabbat but it's just not practical most of the time - essentially it's like being an on call doctor, where your job is essential to saving lives and therefore he can't keep Shabbat properly, but he likes to have Friday night dinners with his friends (and Natasha, whether they're together at the time or not) whenever he can. He doesn't know if God exists, but during the High Holidays is when he comes the closest to believing it
Bruce Wayne is canonically Jewish but like, by accident? I feel like he less defines himself as Jewish and more defines himself as Not-Christianâ˘. His mother used to take him to Synagogue but the memories are vague now, but he always enjoyed lighting the candles on Hanukkah, especially with Jason. He stops celebrating the holiday after Jason dies, because he loved it so much. It's a shame because I KNOW Cass would love Hanukkah and Steph would be so into the Maccabees' story
Tim is also Jewish but he's entirely non practicing; his parents were never around to celebrate any holidays or impart any Jewish traditions on him and Bruce had stopped doing the one Jewish thing of lighting the hanukkiah/menorah (whichever you wanna call it) by the time he became Robin. The main Jewish thing in his life is antisemitic garbage being published about both Bruce and himself, especially once he becomes CEO of WE
Damian was raised Muslim and doesn't really know how to feel about being half Jewish. When he grows up he might try to find a way to reconcile those two parts of his identity, but the only Jewish person who actually practices that he sees even irregularly is Batwoman, who's his cousin once removed and he's not exactly close to, so he just doesn't feel the need to deal with it yet
The Thing and Batwoman are canonically Jewish this doesn't count as a hc I just love them
Same for moon knight minus loving him cause I have a bunch of his comics but just haven't gotten around to reading them
Actually can we talk about Mayday Parker? Because I feel like Peter would absolutely raise his daughter to be Jewish. He wants her to feel that connection to the Jewish people even though he's always been so wishy-washy about it and she grows up to be way more observant than him
I actually don't want canon!Clark to be Jewish, but I think exploring his Jewish subtext in fic can be so interesting? Cause, you know, he's Moses and shit. I feel like an Modern Orthodox Clark would have the exact same values as current Clark but also I'd love to hear his thoughts on certain Mishnahs, you know? Also having read the Death of Superman arc earlier this month I can confirm all Jesus metaphors in adaptations are such bullshit oh my God did you even read the comic
Anyway I think that's it for now? Unfortunately I have not read Every Comic Ever yet so there might end up being even more HCs later on (especially since I plan to read Greg Rucka's Lois Lane series soon and I'm hoping for some Jewish subtext in that)
Thank you so much for asking this was so much fun!!

"sorry i stole your tag" NO this is the website where we're all freaks about our interests. now tell me about rosegold i wanna hear what it is
oh dear lord that is a can of worms but Iâd be happy to open it !!!!
Ok SO Rosegold is a story that is shared between me and my friend @ind1c0lite !!! Itâs abt to go thru a major rewrite bc the plot is as filled with holes as a Rhode Island interstate and we canât have that
But the basic concept wonât change SO here we go!!
In Rosegold there exist beings known as Guardians. The Guardians were created by the Universe, who they call Mother. Mother created the Guardians to watch over certain aspects of existence. Each Guardian is assigned an aspect which is called their Domain. A guardian can have up to two Domains and they are usually related to one another in some way.
As creation exists in Mother, destruction exists in the Collective. The Collective are a hivemind, a rolling tide of eldritch flood that exists to destroy. The Universe weaves and the Collective tears. Opposing forces, a sort of yin and yang. The Guardians know that all destruction of Motherâs creations cannot be stopped, but they do their best to keep the Collective at bay.
The Guardians live in a realm called HQ. It exists somewhere outside the mortal plane and therefore canât be accessed by mortals. HQ is headed by three guardians, who are also our main characters!
(Art by @ind1c0lite)
This is Una, the Guardian of Timelines and Reality! She was the first Guardian to be created by Mother. Because of this, Una takes her job as head Guardian very seriously. Sheâs stoic, serious, and very dedicated to her duties and to her fellow Guardians. In her free time (which is an amount that is next to nothing) she enjoys collecting and tending to her extensive collection of swords! While she cares deeply for everyone in HQ, she doesnât open herself up to many people. I can count on one hand how many people sheâs let herself be vulnerable around. But even with her closest friends, thereâs some secrets that she will never tell.
(Art by @ind1c0lite)
Memento, or Mem for short, is the Guardian of Time and Memory! He was one of he first Guardians created after Una, and is one of the head Guardians in HQ. There is never a dull moment around Mem, heâs a huge dork and is always getting into some kind of shenanigans. He tends to skirt his duties as head Guardian a bit more than his compatriots, but he is capable of buckling down and getting shit done when needed. Mem is extraordinarily loyal and will often rush headfirst into danger in order to protect his friends. As a hobby he enjoys metalworking! He can create some fantastically intricate pieces, and quite thematically he enjoys making pocket watches. Where Mem is, you can trust that Mori is not far behind.
And speaking of, this is Mori! Mori is the Guardian of Life and Death and the third Guardian to be created after Una. I canât really say third because he and Mem were created at the same time, so itâs hard to put a number to their arrival. The two are basically inseparable and itâs a rare sight to see them apart. Mori has one of the biggest hearts in HQ and cares deeply about his friends and fellow Guardians. He can be a bit of a stickler for the rules which sometimes gets him the reputation of being a bit of a spoilsport, but he means well. Mori tends for HQâs sprawling gardens which he himself worked tirelessly to cultivate. He spends hours pruning and caring for his flowers. His prized rosebushes are his favorites! His relation to flowers extends outside the gardens as well. Flowers tend to bloom wherever he goes and can be a good way to tell how heâs feeling. If heâs in a particularly bad mood, however, plantlife around him will wilt and wither. Luckily, itâs rare that Mori is ever in a bad mood.
And those are the main three guys!! Our protagonists :D! I donât want to make this post super long but if u or anyone reading has any questions please feel free to ask I LOVE talking abt Rosegold so so so much hehe
#but ye :D!#thereâs way more characters in the cast but these three r important#nebula rambles#rosegold

Got this recommended to me and as that one certified Nikei Yomiuri Overthinkerâ˘, I am contractually obligated to add my two cents.
I do agree with OP on the whole- the chapter 5 Void Theatre implies that Nikei always acted extremely cold towards them, nor did he ever have any illusions about their relationship being anything more than transactional. I do believe that saying 'he cares about them' is a gross oversimplification of the mess that Nikei's feelings towards them are, though. Honestly, I would say that he cared about them more than they could ever care about him all combined.
So, let's start with stating a couple of things about Nikei Yomiuri:
Nikei does not have ANY close relationships outside of Void
We do not know Nikei's backstory, but we know from his profile in-game that he does not have a family (it is signed as N/A just like Hajime's and Syobai's) and, from the last FTE with him, we know that he has never had someone that explicitly called themselves his friend- supposedly, not even Emma, Hajime and Iroha.
Those three were the closest thing to 'friends' that Nikei ever had- even if he never fully internalized it as a friendship.
Which means- Nikei does not have a genuine understanding about how healthy relationships are supposed to be like. How could he, when he has never experienced how those are supposed to be like? He cannot be friends with the CoU, because he doesn't even understand what being friends means.
You know what type of relationships Nikei has experience with, though? Work relationships. Again, Sora calls him out about it in his FTEs- Nikei has no work/life balance at all- everything he is, IS his job. All the connections he has ever made, have been contractual and based on how useful they were- and that's exactly how the CoU started. They were all people that were brought together by circumstance, with the same objective.
Another major difference between friendship and work relationship is that they are hierarchical- especially in Japan, there is a very strict divide between those above and those beneath, and how they are each supposed to interact with one another. So, of course, Nikei would gravitate towards recreating this hierarchy in the CoU- because it is what he knows, and the only type of relationships he can navigate.
One might wonder, at this point, why Nikei is so obsessed with power and he would put himself in the position of leader of the CoU. This brings us to statement number two:
Nikei has self-worth issues
Now, the reason why Nikei is obsessed with power is due to his backstory that we still do not know. And while I could talk about potential theories here, I don't want to get TOO headcanon-y with this post, so I'm going to leave it at that. What I can talk about, though, is that for someone to have power, they need people to exert said power onto.
Nikei has an inferiority complex. That is not up for debate, it is very explicitly stated in-game- all he did, his entire plan, was born because Mikado stole his position as leader of Void from his grasp, everyone else abandoned him to follow Mikado, and that's explicitly what caused Nikei to despise Mikado.
Some may think that this could be a symptom of Nikei being a narcissist, but I don't believe he is one, at all. That is mostly because all of his anger towards being abandoned is specifically directed at Mikado- NOT at the rest of Void. The only time he got angry at anyone other than Mikado, was first when Iroha asked him to kill in her place (therefore, to die in her place, which is a more than understandable reason to be angry at her) and then in the chapter 5 Void Theatre, where he reprimands Emma and Hajime about them following Mikado and directly causing their own deaths- which is also extremely fair.
Even when directly blaming them for this, he has to preface that it is ultimately Mikado's fault. Although... it really isn't Mikado's fault, at all, now is it?
"In the end, everything that happened, was due to my own shortcomings as a leader. I forced you all into this. I was the one that drove you to desperation like this.
I'm sorry I didn't search for Utsuro harder.
I'm sorry I couldn't prevent this from happening.
I'm sorry I wasn't enough."
How much you can say in so little words.
In the end, no matter how angry he was at Mikado, he was mostly angry at himself for being a failure.
Not that he could ever allow himself to share that with anyone though. I mean, he was their leader, right? Leaders are supposed to be strong and commanding, to always know what to do and to never waver. How could he ever open up to his subordinates about this, without them judging him for it? That's why he allowed himself to say sorry only at the very end- because even if they were to judge him, it wouldn't matter anymore.
Which is why Nikei's first reaction to Hajime saying that they could have all been friends, is to immediately be aggressive. And despite stating that he was going to be honest, he is pretty obviously in denial- in fact, the moment Hajime and Emma don't immediately retract their statements, instead confirming that, yes, they were happy in the CoU-
He immediately denied it, of course, but we all know Nikei has a penchant for lying, especially if it's about his own feelings. And that is because of statement 3:
Nikei wants friends, but ultimately doesn't believe he could ever have them
Nikei is used to relationships based on how useful you can be to each other. It's exactly this way that his relationship with Emma, Hajime and Iroha started. He made himself the leader, and yes, that was due to his desire for power, but also so he could feel needed- Emma, Hajime and Iroha work beneath him, yes, but only because he is useful to them. The moment they find someone better, they would gravitate towards them- which is exactly what happened.
Nikei never believed that they were more than coworkers, because he ultimately believed that no one would stand by him without him offering something back. He would have wanted them to be friends, but because of how their relationship started, he never dared to hope for more. And then Hajime just says it so casually? That they could have been friends? What a sick joke.
(Just look, instead, how he reacts when Sora approaches him in the FTEs, constantly showing that she is interested in him, without having nothing to gain- they started by being equals, and that allowed him to fully bask in the joy of having someone genuinely caring. I could talk about this for even longer but this post is already VERY long so I'm just leaving it at that.)
I don't doubt for a second that Nikei cared about them, even more than seeing them as colleagues- after all, if all he wanted to do was fuck Mikado over, then he didn't need to join the killing game, right? He could have just gotten the traitors to be incarcerated, and that would have ruined the plan. But no- he instead created a convoluted plan that would ultimately leave the CoU largely unaffected. He wanted to protect them. He truly did.
So yeah, if I had to make a list going from person that cared the most to person that cared the least, it would be Nikei >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Hajime >> Emma >>>>> Iroha > Mikado.
I would explain them more thoroughly but this post is already long as it is... sorgy
Honestly yeah, their relationship feels 100% situational to me on rewatch. Kinda sad since i do think they could have been actual friends if things hadn't turned out so shitty (the tragedy, Mikado and the whole Utsuro situation)
I do agreed that, out of all voids, Hajime and Emma really are the only ones that feel like they're actual friends, even if he gets bothered by her goofy puns all the time. As for Nikei while I don't think he acted as their friend or maybe even saw them as such, i do feel like he cared for them to some extent given that final void theather interaction.
Iroha and Mikao tho,, eh, maybe those two are more similar than we thought, at least when it comes to how they treated the other voids (ironic, in a way)
#sdra2#nikei yomiuri#super danganronpa another 2#bunch of other people get mentioned but whatever#no one understands him like I do <3#also sorry op but I got the post in my recommended and the autism kicked right into gear

The Batman: Movie Review
So I watched The Batman on Sunday afternoon, and therefore I have had a few days to let the experience sink in and be a bit more clear about how I feel about the film, after the initial excitement and euphoria has subsided. My first impression is that this is a film I absolutely need to see again because its a film that could either get better or worse on second viewing. On first viewing, this is a terrific thriller that has some flaws, particularly towards the end, which prevent the film from going to really good to great. But is absolutely a unique superhero, the likes of which we haven't seen before. Whereas Christopher Nolan modeled his Batman movies after crime dramas, Matt Reeves really models his movie on serial killer thrillers like Se7en and Zodiac. I have to talk about some spoilers, so be warned.
I will say that Matt Reeves definitely delivered on the promise on emphasizing Batman as a detective in this movie. While previous Batman movies have had elements of detective work, this is very much centered on an investigation. Its almost a procedural, with Batman and Gordon as the two cops conducting the investigation as a serial killer starts kidnapping and killing prominent members of Gotham. And that is what makes this film stand out distinctly. There is a unique look and feel to Matt Reeves' Gotham world. His Gotham is also very grounded, but its a lot dirtier and grimier than anything we saw in TDK trilogy. Whereas TDK trilogy felt grounded in our world, Reeves' Gotham doesn't feel like a normal city. It isn't the glitzy version from Schumacher's Batman or the overly Gothic version from Burton's Batman, but it still feels like it has a distinct look and style to it. The closest comparison I can make is the Gotham city from the Gotham tv show. The film is relatively low tech, in that Batman doesn't have a ton of gadgets. This is a very visceral Batman, who is angry and Reeves emphasizes that he represents Vengeance.
Any thriller only works if the mystery is intriguing. And I love the whole concept of a Gotham that is rotten to the core. Barring Gordon, the cops are not trustworthy, with even the Commissioner being dirty. The DA and the mayor are all dirty. The film's aesthetic matches that feel because it takes place almost completely at night. The few scenes that have any type of daylight are scenes where its dawn or its evening. No scenes where its bright and sunny during the day. The film makes great use of silence. There are so many scenes where characters convey emotions just through looks. The film also has a massive ensemble and it does a great job of positioning so many characters are various levels of power in the city. I also liked the new wrinkle they threw on Bruce's parents. While in the past, the Waynes are either talked about as almost mythical figures in Gotham's history or we see them as kind and giving people. Here there is a question mark over their past and they aren't completely clean. The fact that his mother had mental problems in the past and his father played a role, all be it indirectly, in the death of a reporter, is something that truly rattles Bruce. His dynamic with Alfred is also different. There is a great scene where we see how much Alfred means to him, but their dynamic is not the playful and friendly dynamic that was seen in TDK trilogy and even in Snyder's films. There is a layer of tension between the two. The film also does a solid job of capturing the Batman and Catwoman dynamic. There is a sexuality in the dynamic and I like how they make Selina's ski mask look like it has cat years. There are small touches, like Bruce putting on sun glasses after he has spent a whole night out as Batman, because the daylight is a bit much for him. Also, I like how they film doesn't dodge away from the black eye makeup that Batman puts on. These are details which really help the grounded nature of the movie.
Technically, this film looks brilliant. I already mentioned how this version of Gotham is grounded but there is still a slight other world feeling to it. The constant rain does get a bit much at times, but it does add to the mood of the film. The music and the sound design is just amazing. Michael Giacchino joins Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman with a terrific score. He's had a great few months with this and NWH. The sound is incredible. For example, you feel the batmobile's engine revving in the theater and every punch feels painful. Small things like us hearing Batman's footsteps in the dark before he emerges adds so much to the film. The film is fairly light on action, but it has a phenomenal car chase scene with the Batmobile that is exciting as hell. And the action scenes it does have are exciting and more intimate. Even though this film is nearly 3 hours long, it doesn't feel boring. There is constantly something that kept me going.
However, I did feel that there were some issues with the film. Some of these are minor but there were a few things in the last act that prevented the film from being great. Firstly, one of my big issues with the film is that it demystifies Batman a bit too much. I absolutely love the start on Halloween where the criminals feel Batman could be in the shadows, even when he's not, but subsequently it feels that no one is really that afraid of him. Placing him in environments with a lot of people, like a station full of cops, in a club scene, where the cops or Penguin or his goons don't really seem afraid of him. That I felt took away from the character a bit. The Bruce Wayne side of things is slightly shortchanged with Alfred probably having the least screen time of any Batman movie. Also, it just felt a little odd that in year 2, Bruce has still not figured out a public persona for him, because surely after 2 years, he would be a prime suspect to be Batman, given Bruce Wayne's reclusive nature and lack of public presence. This particular situation seems more suited for a zero year or even an early year 1 story. The last act falls off a bit for me. I feel the film hits a peak with the capture of the Riddler and the confrontation at Arkham. The last action sequence seems a bit too random and unthreatening. You never really feel that Batman will have any issue taking out these Riddler wannabees. Also, the fact that it was so easy to flood the entire city was kind of ridiculous to me. I just didn't buy into it and it felt like a sequence that was designed in order to have an action scene. I know that it has a purpose, to have Batman realize he needs to be a symbol of hope, but its just a bit too heavy handed, paired with a voice over telling the audience how we should feel. Also, for a grounded movie, Batman takes way too many high caliber shots to the chest at close range and explosion to his face without any injuries. It takes away from the intended realism of it all. I also feel that Zoe Kravitz Selina was a bit underused compared to the hype around her role. I love the character and her part but it felt incidental to the main story. There are some other minor nitpicks, like there is a scene where Batman uses a squirrel suit to escape the police station which ends up being a little unintentionally funny. There is also a Joker tease which honestly made me cringe.
In terms of performances, its a top notch across the board. Robert Pattinson is terrific. His character is purposefully a bit one dimensional in this movie and I hope they allow his Bruce Wayne side to open up in future movies, but he is terrific as Batman and is able to emote a lot through the suit. He also does a lot through silence like how he states at the orphaned kid at the funeral scene, because he clearly identifies with him. Paul Dano is fantastic as the Riddler. He only appears out of costume in one or two scenes but he makes most of those scenes. Zoe Kravitz is charismatic and wonderful and she is missed when she is not around for sections of the movie. Jeffrey Wright, who is almost a co-lead here, delivers a Gordon full of gravitas and he shares a great camaraderie with Pattinson. Colin Farrell steals every scene that he's in. He's completely unrecognizable both through look and voice. He's fantastic and I can't wait to see the Penguin tv series. The surprise mvp for me was John Turturro as Carmine Falcone. I never expected that he would deliver a performance where he is able to be so menacing. Andy Serkis as Alfred is wonderful as well, delivering a toughness to the role that is unique. Peter Sarsgaard shows up briefly as the DA Gil Colson.
All in all, its triumph for Matt Reeves, who really does a tremendous job directing this movie. He's clearly taken notes from The Long Halloween, Zero Year, and Year One on this film. I am curious to see how it trends at the BO. One of the issues with suspense thrillers is that you lose the mystique after the first watch. However, I have heard people say they liked the movie even more the second time. I really liked this movie. It doesn't quite hit the heights of TDK trilogy for me, but its just a shade below. I plan to see it again in the coming weekend. For right now, its an 8.5/10.

Love Is Healing - Chapter Five
Chapter 5/?
The next day Arianna focused on healing Loki's burns since she hadn't been able to the night before. Arianna knew that Frigga and Thor had to leave that day, so she let them stay in the room with her as she worked. Plus, she didn't want to be alone with Loki. He had gotten under her skin the night before and she was still a little irritated with him.
Loki had been right about one thing, however, and that was that she hadn't been able to draw power from the Tesseract the night before because she'd been too tired. She had since slept and was using it fine now.
She worked on Loki for a few hours before leaving him, leaving the tower to go out and see how much destruction had actually been done.
"Oh my God," she said as she stepped out of the building and into the world outside.
She hadn't really seen everything the day before. There were buildings still smoking from yesterday, and there were piles of rubble on the ground from the buildings and the streets having been hit. Seeing as this wasn't a residential area, most of the buildings were businesses and restaurants. It hadn't lowered the death count or the amount of people that had been hurt.
Police were still out, so she wondered if they were still searching the ruins for victims.
"Let's go," Natasha said from behind her. "Tony has a helicopter waiting for us. We'll go to the closest hospital and work our way out."
They had to cross the street and use the helipad there because the one on Tony's tower had been destroyed. As they walked Arianna began to feel as if she were in a movie about the end of the world. The apocalypse had come to Manhattan.
She felt like crying, but tears were for victims and people who had time to cry. Arianna, however, had a job to do.
"We've got clearance, right? No roadblocks?"
"We should be good." ----------
When all was said and done, the injured were numbered in the hundreds, as were the dead. Arianna healed in a logical, systematic way, starting with the most injured and ending with the least.
She spent about two hours each day with Loki and by the end of the week his burns and lacerations were completely healed. The only injury he had left was his broken ribs.
She brought him meals each day â breakfast, lunch, and dinner â and he was now able to eat solid food. She noticed he had quite the sweet tooth when she brought him some ice cream and a small piece of pie for dessert once. He's asked for more and had neglected his dinner.
It made sense when she found out that Asgard didn't really have any sweets. The sweetest thing he'd ever had was fruit, so she hoped the extra sugar didn't make Loki sick.
On the day Fury was supposed to come and retrieve Loki Arianna brought Loki pancakes for breakfast. He didn't know what they were, but he enjoyed them. Arianna had basically drowned them in syrup. Loki was able to eat only one, but Arianna ate the rest.
"Those were mine," he said, though Arianna could tell he really didn't mind.
"I made them," she reminded him.
"They were quite delicious."
"Thank you.
"So . . . Fury is supposed to come today. I'm not sure exactly what that means. He'll probably take you away and lock you up. I don't think he'll put you with other people, so you'll be safe at least."
"Or they might just torture me some more.," Loki said quietly. "Even mortal I have much information that could be useful."
"Then don't let them know."
Arianna didn't know why it made her almost want to cry at the thought of Loki being hurt further, but it did and she had to take a deep breath to steady herself.
"Pretend you have memory loss if you have to, but don't let them know you know anything that they don't unless you intend to tell them."
Arianna was under no delusions of thinking SHIELD was all good. It was a government agency and, therefore, could get away with a lot of things nobody should be allowed to do. They would torture him if they found need of it.
"Would you like to go outside? If you don't today, you may not be able to for a while."
Loki considered for a moment before smiling weakly. "That would be nice." ---------- Loki didn't know what he had expected, but being allowed to go out of the building without any restraints wasn't it. He hadn't expected the other Avengers to let Arianna go out alone with him either, but there they were.
They'd just stepped out of Stark Tower and onto the sidewalk, and Loki suddenly wanted to go back inside. Things outside were horrible. Buildings had been destroyed and roads had been turned to rubble. The costs of the war he'd brought upon this city . . .
He really shouldn't have left the tower. What if someone recognized him? They would probably try to kill him. Try and fail. He knew Arianna would never allow harm to come to him while under her watch.
"This isn't what I want you to see," she said. "But we need to cross the street to get to the helipad."
"We're going to fly?"
"For a little bit. Low enough so you can see things. I don't know if you should be walking around outside."
Loki couldn't help the relief he felt at Arianna's suggestion. He shouldn't walk around outside.
Once they had reached the helipad and the helicopter and were in the air, Loki felt a freedom he hadn't felt for a long time. He'd learned to fly when he was just a boy â not a helicopter, of course, but they did have machines that could fly in Asgard.
Arianna was silent for the most part until they had been in the air for a while. She didn't even seem to be enjoying the view, and what could be seen now was beautiful.
"May I ask what is bothering you?" he asked.
"I hate this," she said immediately. "This . . . us giving you up to Fury. I mean, no, you're definitely not the most upstanding citizen, but you were pushed into this, pushed into coming here and trying to take over. You would've been tortured if you hadn't. Most people would've done the same as you have."
Loki stared at her. Arianna had this way about her that made Loki feel as if he was cared about. His heart craved it and rejected it at the same time. If he was being honest with himself, Loki knew he craved affection from someone who could love him for what he was. He was nowhere near as bad now that Thanos wasn't playing with his mind, but he was far from what a normal person would consider good.
Arianna could accept him as he was, but he also had to admit that such open affection wasn't completely welcome. Feelings got in the way of other things.
Besides, right that instant he was feeling only gratitude. This girl had done more for him in a week than many had done in his entire lifetime.
His thankfulness wasn't misplaced. ---------- Fury was already at Stark Tower when Loki and Arianna got back. Arianna came to a halt and she felt Loki run into her before he stopped as well. He'd barely touched her back and she barely moved.
Fury stood between two agents, both of whom had a gun. Tony was there, as were the other Avengers â minus Thor, who, along with Frigga, had left days before taking the Tesseract with them.
"Are the guns really necessary?" Arianna asked. "He's in no shape to put up a fight."
"The guns aren't for him," Fury said, firm but also somewhat uncertain. "It's to ensure that you don't put up a fight."
"Me?"
Arianna was honestly confused about this. She wasn't a threat to anyone.
"Yes. My superiors are not happy about you siding with the man that attacked this city. Consider this a warning. You were dangerously close to treason."
"I was doing what I knew to be right."
"Not to mention, she'd promised Loki's mother that she would take responsibility for his healing," Tony said. "Who knows what would've happened had she refused?"
"Indeed," Fury replied. "I wasn't finished. Agent Grace is a valuable asset to this team. One I don't wish to lose. The Council and I agreed that she could very well help the Asgardian acclimate himself to our ways."
"What?"
"In exchange for information Loki can remain free. He'll be under constant surveillance, of course. Agents Barton and Romanoff will be watching him. Everyone will remain here, and â"
Tony interrupted. "I think everyone keeps forgetting that this is my place."
Fury ignored Tony's words. "If you are amenable," he directed at Arianna, "I will alert the Council and things can proceed as usual."
Arianna looked at Natasha and Clint. "Guys? Are you willing to give up time to do this?"
Arianna already knew her answer was yes, but it wouldn't matter unless the others went for it as well.
Natasha agreed, but Arianna knew it was only because Fury had asked it of her and not because she had any real desire to do so. Clint agreed because Natasha had agreed.
"Tony?"
Arianna turned to him now. This was his home. He could turn them all out at any time and Arianna wouldn't blame him.
"You guys haven't been too much of a nuisance," Tony quipped. "You can stay. But no touching my stuff."
Arianna grinned. "Seeing as to how I don't know how to use most of your stuff, that won't be a problem."
She then looked at Loki, who had been strangely silent throughout the entire exchange, only to find that he'd wrapped his arms around himself and was staring suspiciously at Fury and the two agents with him.
"Loki?" She touched his arm gently. If he'd withdrawn into himself, she didn't want to alarm him. "What's wrong?"
"Why?" he asked. "Why not lock me up?"
"Information," Fury answered. "As long as you cooperate . . ."
Arianna tensed, as did Loki, though each had a different reason for becoming tense. Arianna was angry but not surprised that the people she worked with would stoop to threats to get what they wanted. She was also furious that Fury and his superiors were no better than the monster named Thanos.
Loki had tensed because of the threat itself. It had reminded him of the words Thanos had said about him failing to conquer Midgard and failing to bring Thanos the Tesseract. There would be pain. He was in the same situation now with another enemy.
"Loki, just say yes and you can stay," Arianna said. "Don't make this harder than it has to be."
"Okay," he said. "I accept the arrangement." ---------- That night Arianna made plans with Tony to have someone get her things from her apartment in Washington D.C. and to have them brought to the tower. She also needed to break her lease, which she was going to get Fury to take care of since it was his fault she had to relocate in the first place.
She talked Tony into giving Loki an actual room, which really just meant that Loki would be able to have more than just the bed and closet space that he had at the moment. He would eventually be able to have things in there.
Loki still had the room next to hers, which she didn't really mind. He actually was fairly harmless at the moment. She could probably do more damage than he could right now.
It was true that she had healed him almost completely, but he still wasn't at a hundred percent energy-wise.
That first night, Loki caught her before she could make her way into her own room.
"Agent Grace?"
His voice stopped her. He'd never said her name before, had never even shown that he'd thought to remember her name, but here he was using her name with what could only be described as respect.
"Yes, Loki?"
She turned to him. He was standing in his doorway, his posture a little slouched due to his still injured ribs. He didn't have any hostility in his face or eyes, so she assumed it was safe to approach him. When she reached him he grabbed her hand, which she hadn't expected at all, but he was being gentle and careful so she didn't pull away.
When he set his lips upon the back of her hand for a few brief seconds she froze. Heat traveled up her neck and settled upon her cheeks. Loki obviously noticed because he smirked slightly before lowering her hand back to her side.
She would have been angry, but she couldn't see a hint of an ulterior motive in Loki, and she would've felt it from the skin-on-skin contact if he'd had a negative reason for kissing her hand.
"Thank you," he said. "For everything you've done for me. For what you're still doing. I don't quite understand why you're doing it, but I don't think I have to. My mother said I should befriend you because you have a good heart. I do believe she was right."
Arianna had no clue what she was supposed to say to any of this. No one had said such things to her before without wanting something in return. What did one do in a situation like this?
"Um . . . thank you?" She sounded unsure to her own ears, so she had no idea what Loki would think. She told herself she didn't care.
"There's no need to be nervous. It's just a thank you."
Loki gave a small but genuine smile, and Arianna answered with her own.
"Well, you're welcome," she said sincerely. "And you can call me Arianna. Good night, Loki."
"Good night . . . Arianna."

Can I request a Love head canon with Geralt please? I just read the pre-relationship one you did for Jaskier and I absolutely loved it!!
I mean... I can try đ
Though, I think it should go without saying that Geralt isnât exactly synonymous with love and affection as we relatively human beings interpret them . . .
Who said âI love youâ first?: Assuming weâre sticking strictly to the verbal expression of the phrase, I believe you already know the answer to this. After all, itâs simply not in Geraltâs nature to be the most talkative person, much less vulnerable and affectionate. And thatâs referring to his nature as being Geralt of Rivia and not specifically his nature of being a Witcher. You could wait an entire run of three human lifetimes and still potentially have to wait just a bit more to hear Geralt willingly say, âI love youâ in this manner. Itâs nothing against you, of course, but itâs better for you to recognize this and accept it than force otherwise. Besides, itâs not as though he doesnât appreciate it: Deep down, Geralt is beyond startled that you would willingly apply such affection and devotion to him of all people, and a Witcher at that! Though, if youâre willing to stretch the expression one uses for âI Love youâ, then itâs arguable that Geralt said it first, in some way, considering that . . .
What are their primary love languages?: Geralt is a very . . . sexual being. Physically aggressive. And considering his complex relationship with Yennefer, it therefore would stand to reason that his primary expression of âloveâ comes in the form of physical touch. Hell, if love languages were a thing acknowledged of the period (and if Geralt ever even cared to acknowledge them), he mightâve grunted and agreed so himself, even if only to get the conversation over faster. But the longer he spends having you as his companion, the more evident it becomes to him that this may not be the case. The thing is, physical touch can be more than just sexual release -- but for him, thatâs all it ever was, simply because it was easier for him to do when Yennefer was still around. But since then, heâs come to recognize that perhaps he has more to offer than he gave himself credit for: Geralt operates through acts of service. Geralt is never going to be the most openly expressive one of the bunch, even when it pertains to you. But heâs always going to show his care for those whom he has a soft spot for by assuring their safety and well-being -- in odds and ends, so to speak. Heâs never going to write you sonnets or wax poetically to you; he will rarely hold your hand just for the sake of doing so, or be the best at offering words that could technically be comprehended as affectionate. But when he notices youâre tired, he wonât hesitate to place you on Roachâs back -- an absolute honor, considering his protectiveness towards the mare. Heâll make sure that youâre warm and sheltered when you break camp, even if it comes at the cost of his own comfort (not that he feels much of a difference after this point anyway). If he thinks you may be doing something or even considering doing something that might put you in harmâs way or cause you mental or emotional pain, heâs unafraid to shoot that shit down (he loves you enough to let you hate him, so to speak). It may be the bare minimum that he saves you from a death of cold or starvation or hazardous encounters, but for him, itâs a way of showing he at least respects your right to continue living. He doesnât really expect anything back besides respect. And perhaps some . . . physical comforts. But, once again, to his surprise, heâs not solely focused on physical touch when it comes to you. At least, not as intensely as he normally would be. What Geralt specifically appreciates form you is words of affirmation. But only from you: None of that showy, obnoxious nonsense that Jaskier calls music. Geralt likes feeling recognized as a person, questionable as that sort of title might actually be. He just likes being talked to to a degree, over small things. The affirmations come where you openly appreciate him for his efforts and bravery, and even when you thank him for taking care of you. Being a Witcher is a thankless job. But hearing you appreciate him for everything, big and small, and acknowledging his more humanistic traits at the same time? It does him more good than both you and he ever thought it could.
How often do they cuddle/engage in PDA?: The closest you get is when the two of you are either in a very crowded market place or are running and youâre having trouble keeping up: Heâll hold your hand to assure you donât get separated or left behind. Thereâs also, of course, the preservation of body heat when the both of you wind up breaking camp on a particularly cold night. But other than that, I wouldnât expect much in the ways of affection.
What are their favorite things to do together?: The lifestyle you both lead (well, that Geralt leads -- you simply adopted it by association) doesnât exactly lend itself well to couplesâ hobbies . . . But the two of you havenât bitten each otherâs throats out yet, so clearly youâre doing something right, no? You arenât quite sure what it is, but you heavily suspect that it might be when you ask Geralt to tell you about the creatures heâs encountered. Not in the âTell Me Stories of Your Amazing Featsâ kind of way, but more so in a manner of âPlease Make Me Aware of the Weird, Strange, and Horrific Beings Lurking in This World and How To Combat Themâ. Which suits Geralt well enough, as he tends to skimp on the details and doesnât care to describe battles or anything of the sort. He knows that youâll never be a Witcher, but it surely couldnât hurt you to have an awareness of the world around you. Besides, heâs witnessed far too often the slaughtering of perfectly harmless creatures due to ignorance -- he feels a sense of relief when you express an interest in learning how to differentiate beasts with intentions of harm and beasts that simply want to be left alone unless provoked.
Whoâs better at comforting the other?: Neither of you is especially great at it, but for different reasons. Though it should at least be said that youâre better skilled at comforting than Geralt is: You by far are the more emotionally available and intelligent one between the two of you, so the efforts you put forward are at least more overt. However, given that Geralt is a rather standoffish person and not especially prone to expressing vulnerabilities of any kind, itâs hard for you to know if youâre getting through to him. He wonât make it blatantly obvious if something is bothering him unless itâs bothering him in a way that earns his aggression -- and even then, he doesnât need comfort, he needs you to gently chide him and calm him down as one does to an agitated horse or dog. Or a wolf, in this case. Meanwhile, Geralt . . . just isnât the best at comforting people. At least, not in the most traditional sense. When he tries to be, it comes off very awkwardly, the words not filled confidence as much as they are hesitancy. Itâs only made worse by the fact that his gruff, barely-used voice just isnât compatible with the words he tries to use. Which is why he feels the best he can really offer to do is just say nothing at all. He wonât reject you or even flinch if you were to bury yourself into his side, instead just slowly placing an arm around you and trying to give a consoling, if stiff, pat on the back. Please know that this is him trying his best, and that heâll be far more relieved than youâll be if you actually do find some semblance of comfort in his seemingly low-effort efforts.
Whoâs more protective?: Geralt wouldnât consider what he does protection -- itâs simply what he, well, does. Heâs always fighting creatures (and people) in self-defense or for a cause of some kind. And whenever Jaskier joins the two of you, or once Ciri becomes a part of his life, the job only intensifies. Him keeping you alive is simply common decency, lover or not. But if one were to ask someone whoâs more emotionally observant like, say, a certain bard who occasionally accompanies the two of you, then he would beg to differ: Geralt is fiercely protective of you, he just does so quietly. Contrary to his stony nature,he does value your well-being. And even if youâre a commendable fighter, he acknowledges that itâs not as up to snuff as his own, making him feel more obligated to assure you come out of encounters alive and well. This is more obvious in the wilderness, of course, but when it comes to civilization he tends to become a bit more lax. He trusts you enough to measure your options when, say, some men at a pub are making particularly bawdy comments about you. He also trusts you to know when to whip out that knife you always keep on you. However, you neednât worry about him turning a blind eye, should things threaten to escalate: Whether youâre at a marketplace buying some necessities, or paying for your meal at a tavern, Geralt is never so far away that he canât keep a close eye on you or be unable to step in, should the environment intensify.
Do they prefer verbal or physical affection?: Geralt likes verbal affirmations, yes, but donât discount physical: At least he doesnât have to talk or respond when at the end of a long day, you sit next to him and nuzzle your head up to the crook of his neck. Plus thereâs the whole intimacy he experiences for the first time in its true form when you and he finally decide to take that step.
What are some songs that apply to their relationship, in-universe or otherwise?: Hm. Itâs hard to say, especially considering that Geralt is a hard person to apply music to, much less music with a narrative or one that actually sounds like anything he might listen to, particularly in a romantic setting. I had to push past that mindset just to pick anything, and what that got me to conclude was something along the lines of âLove Like Youâ by Rebecca Sugar or "Resilienceâ by Thomas Newman. Maybe âMy Bloodâ by Twenty-One Pilots. I canât place exactly how or why, especially sound-wise, but these just stood out to me in particular . . .
What kind of nicknames do they call each other?: You two donât really resort to nicknames, actually. âGeraltâ isnât exactly an easy name to harvest a nickname out of, and he doesnât do anything that particularly warrants one in reference to an idiosyncrasy. The closest you ever got was trying out âWolfyâ in reference to his title as âThe White Wolfâ but the look the attempt received, coupled with your own realized distaste for it, made you drop it in an instant. And Geralt just isnât the sort to apply nicknames in the first place.
Thank you for requesting this! I hope I did okay . . .

RATE THE EPISODE 218 Responses
As has been the trend, the episode received mostly positive reviews, with over 90% of respondents giving the episode a score of 4 or 5. Not too shabby for one of the most anticipated episodes of the season!
Absolutely loved it!
MAPPA's winning streak continues with a near perfect adaptation.
Epic as hell wonderful adaptation.Â
I was on the edge of my Seat the whole time, even tho I read the Manga. It was amazing.Â
Best cliffhanger yet
PHENOMENAL!! THE TENSION DIDN'T LET UP FOR A SECOND
I really liked the episode. People can criticize, but Mappa couldn't have done the episode in another way. They're doing an amazing job, the animation is beautiful, the musics are amazingÂ
Fairly good 8/10
It was ok, would've preferred a better climax.
Almost perfect episode
I thought this episode was adapted incredibly well; I enjoyed it more than I did previous episodes. The opening theme still isn't working entirely for me, though.
Best episode of season 4 so far. Also, Rage Mode is backâŚ
Most anticipated episode and Mappa 100% delivered. MAPPA GOAT
WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING MOMENTS WAS YOUR FAVORITE? 220 Responses
As expected, the cliffhanger of the episode was the most favored moment (with 40.5% of the vote) with Eren transforming during the declaration of war was finally brought to life. The subsequent favored moments all contained various partts of Eren and Reinerâs basement reunion.Â
Reiner ready to protect Falco over himself made me love him even more, this moment needs more spotlight
Eren and Reiner's voice actors really went out of their way this episode. Their performance was â¨phenomenalâ¨
Reiner is really well-done in this episode. They were really able to capture his inner torment, not to mention the voice acting is amazing.
WHICH INTERPRETATION (BY RBA) OF THE OLD MANâS STORY DO YOU THINK IS CLOSEST TO WHAT THE MAN ACTUALLY THOUGHT? 217 Responses
At 56.7%, the majority believe Bertolt was correct in that the old man RBA spoke with wanted to be judged before his death. 23.5% agree with Reiner that thereâs no way theyâll ever know, and only 19.8% agreed with Annie in that he wanted to be forgiven.
IN THE SAME VEIN, WHICH OF THE AFOREMENTIONED INTERPRETATION FITS REINERâS STATE OF MIND IN THE BASEMENT SCENE? 217 Responses
In that same vein, the majority (52.1%) also believes that Reiner wanted to receive judgement, perhaps from Eren. Just a little under 31% believe that in addition to receiving judgement, Reiner also wants to receive forgiveness. Few believe Reiner solely wants forgiveness. Finally, a little under 9% simply arenât sure what Reiner wants.
He knows what he's done and he knows it's unforgivable so I think he just wants a release from it all
He is depressed, has PTSD, and feels tremendously guilty.
He wants to die for his sins, I don't think it's either for for forgiveness or judgement, but his own internal quilt..
He wants to be free (of this world) da guilt too much
He wants to be judged and killedÂ
He wants to die
WOULD YOU LIKE TO GET A HUG FROM PIECK? 219 Responses
An incredibly serious question with a lopsided result. Just under 84% would like to receive a hug from Pieck, in contrast to a miniscule percentage whoâd rather not. 12.3% donât really care about stuff like this.
DO YOU THINK HELOS ACTUALLY EXISTED? 217 Responses
The plurality (little under 42%) believe Helos was a complete fabrication, down to his very existence. Some others (26.7%) think he existed, but wasnât anybody special or (17.5%) think he existed and was actually involved with ending the Great Titan War. A bit under 14% just donât care.
âIâM THE SAME AS YOU.â EREN SAID THIS TO REINER A FEW TIMES IN THE EPISODE. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THAT? DO YOU THINK EITHER OF THEM HARBOR A GRUDGE AGAINST THE OTHER? 108 Responses
One of the episodeâs (and the adapted chaptersâ) focuses is the meeting between Eren and Reiner, in addition to their general relationship. Many people seemed to give their thoughts on the central motif of the meeting, and whether either of them bear a grudge against the other:
yes and no- theyâre both broken by what theyâve done (and will continue to do) to each other, and those feelings are as mixed as can be.Â
No, they understand each other, and the horrible acts they do is the result of seeking the best for the ones they love, in an unbearably cruel world they were born into
Probably not, from Reiner i think it's just a lot of remorse for what he did, as for Eren, he's probably beyond all of that.
They were forced to do what they had to do and both were ignorant as kids.
No grudges. And I think Eren believes he and Reiner are the same, and therefore that Reiner can understand what he is about to do and why. Eren didn't need to have this conversation with Reiner, and yet, he risked Reiner possibly interfering in his plan to talk to the one person he believes understands what he is about to do. Eren no longer believes his friends will understand his actions, which is why he did not confide in them, but he clings to the idea that Reiner will. However, I personally do not believe they are the same. Reiner's actions, while horrible, were those of a brainwashed child. Eren is an adult, about to set in motion genocide on a much larger scale. There is just no comparing it.Â
There's definitely animosity between them/they genuinely dislike each other from this point on. Last battle of Shiganshina Made it clear imo.
No, if circumstances were different, they would be best friends.
They share a lot of similarities, but it all comes down to the path they take by the end of the story. While Eren decided to commit mass genocide, Reiner is regreting his past actions and trying to save the world. I don't think they absolutely despise each other, they understand their struggles but both are ready to stop one another even if it means killing them in the process
Not sure. Reiner took Eren's family so not completely same-same trauma
Yes and no, feelings aren't particularly concrete between any two people ever. There are parts of Eren that still hate Reiner, and parts of Reiner that still hate Eren, but the same can be said of their comradery. Their relationship is pretty complex
No. Reiner doesn't hold a grudge for Eren because he is guilty. Eren doesn't hold a grudge towards Reiner because he also sees himself as a mass murderer.Â
Yes, Eren still wants to inflict pain on Reiner. He just claims that Reiner didn't care about his/his family's suffering either.
No, there are no hard feelings between them. Eren has forgiven Reiner since he has understood the current state of the Eldians and how Marleyans are ( they are humans just like him). But still, Eren will keep 'moving forward' and suffer from his actions like Reiner did (him talking Bertolt and Annie into breaking the outer wall and carrying the burden).
They both know it's inevitable. There is no other option.
Not consciously, at least: both of them came to understand the larger systems and powers at play, and both of them were manipulated as children by them
DO YOU THINK THAT EREN AND REINER ARE EFFECTIVE FOILS TO EACH OTHER? 215 Responses
The vast majority (88.4%) seem to agree with the notion of Reiner being a foil to Eren, be it a complete or partial foil. Some others dissent and argue that thereâs no comparison.Â
They mirror each other, they have different reasons but they did the same things and had I believe very similar baseline motivationsÂ
I had learned that a foil is defined as a character who brings light to another character's traits or motivations through the contrast between the two. So if Eren and Reiner were foils to each other, then they would have had opposite personalities, as how foils are used. But Eren said 'I'm the same as you' and they do indeed share a lot of similarities. The only significant difference is that Reiner is at the point of giving up whereas Eren still keeps moving forward. So, no, they are not foils I believe.Â
I think they're more like tragic, star crossed lovers (minus any romance)Â
arenât they parallels of each other? can they be foils and parallels of each other simultaneously? or i guess just donât be know what either term means
SO, WAS THE DECLARATION OF WAR EVERYTHING YOU HOPED FOR? 219 Responses
Overall reception of the execution of the Declaration of War was positive, with 47% stating they were âquite pleasedâ with it, and another 33.8% barely being able to contain their hype at all. There are some who felt a little overwhelmed by it for one reason or another, stating it could have been better but also wasnât bad. Others think MAPPA did the animation well but didnât pair it with the right kind of music. A small percentage were just disappointed in it, period.
It was pretty much a 1:1 from the manga, so it was great.
Absolutely incredible, while the last music choice wasn't the best (it isn't a huge deal tho, it still fits), the rest of the episode was marvelous (direction, lighting, voice acting, music for most of it, animation) and managed to make justice to the manga chapters
i really don't care about the declaration so i wasn't hyped for it either way
It was great though music was a bit too triumphant for me (though ruined is way too strong)
I feel like such high expectations were held upon this chapter, so we're really critic about it. I would've liked a more intense music build up and manga-like animation of crushing the stage.Â
I loved the music choice throughout the episode, but for the declaration itself it could have been a bit more horrorish. Still loving it. No hate for the studio, they are doing great!Â
I wasnât too happy about it at first but itâs grown on me so quickly that I think itâs well on its way to being my favorite episode out of the entire series.
The build up was amazing. Sure we hoped for more actions, but Mappa couldn't have organized the episode in another way. It was really well executed and the final scene simply left me breathlessÂ
It was perfect, but I'd have preferred having either the coordinate/attack on titan/S4 trailer theme playing but music choice didn't ruin at all the experience
BACK WHEN WILLY ACCUSED EREN OF WANTING TO INITIATE THE RUMBLING, DID YOU ACTUALLY BELIEVE THAT WAS ERENâS GOAL WHEN YOU READ THIS CHAPTER FOR THE FIRST TIME? 212 Responses
Are we still allowed to say âhindsight is 20/20?â The majority of the fandom had more faith in Eren back when these chapters were first published, with 25.5% saying they had a suspicion that he might, but didnât want to accept that possibility and believed in the better of him. 19.3% felt that Willy was genuinely full of crap just for the sake of demonizing Paradis, and 14.6% felt that though the Rumbling would happen, Eren wouldnât be the one at fault. On the flipside, a smaller amount of voters fully saw this coming, with 14.6% believing this to have been Erenâs goal, but with the hope that he wouldnât make it a reality, and 11.8% now having the pleasure of saying, âI told you so.âÂ
At the time i just thought it was willy's assumption he used to get the other nations to side with his agenda
I cannot even remember what I thought... too long ago
I didnât think the rumbling was gonna happen at all, actually.
When I read the chapter the rumbling had happened
I already knew the Rumbling would happen before I read the chapter, so I don't have an opinion on this other than Willy ended up being right, even if it's only because it's a self-fulfilling prophecy.
I sadly had that plot point spoiled :(
At this point, I genuinely did not think the Rumbling would happen at all.Â
I thought that Willy and Eren were playing along for the sake of "common enemy - unites the world". With sacrifice on both ends.
WEâVE GOTTEN A SNEAK PEAK OF YELENA IN THIS EPISODE. NOT SO MUCH THE DESIGN, BUT MORE SO THE VOICE. ITâS QUITE LOW. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT IT? 217 Responses
When it comes to Yelenaâa introduction, itâs about as mysterious as it was in the manga. The difference however is the inclusion of a voice. The reception came out to be overwhelmingly positive, with people deeming it fitting, sexy and cool (in that order). Some others (24%) thought that it was as low as it was now only because she was imitating a soldier. Just a little over 10% simply didnât care.Â
I assume it's low right now because she knows Pieck will recognize her, but also Yelena could sound like a literal elephant and I'd still want her crazy beautiful ass to step on me
I didn't hear it well.
Reminds me of the voice actors in Claymore. It was perfect.
ANNIE STILL HASNâT REUNITED WITH HER FATHER, DO YOU THINK SHE EVER WILL? 217 Responses
In spite of both Annie and her father coming back to the forefront in recent manga chapters, they still havenât been reunited. A plurality believes that they will. Just under a third thinks that itâs a possibility. Finally, a little over 20% donât think that the meeting will happen.
THE NOTABLY IMPORTANT SCENE BETWEEN WILLY AND MAGATH RIDING IN THE CARRIAGE AT THE BEGINNING OF CHAPTER 100 IS MISSING IN THIS EPISODE. WHAT DO YOU THINK HAPPENED TO IT? 214 Responses
When it comes to the rather important scene between Willy and Magath and its lack of inclusion in this episode, most people (57.9%) came out thinking that the next episode will open up on that exact scene before transitioning into Willyâs death. Some others believe that itâll instead be shown either sometime in the next episode or just before the arc ends. On the flip side, 20.6% believe that the scene was simply cut and thatâs that.Â
Either it's completely cut or will appear in a flashback again
Has to be shown at the start of episode 6 otherwise that's a colossal fuck up on Mappa's part and will affect how I view this episode
Much of it was implied through the fear on Willyâs face the whole episode.
THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM - THE MUSIC. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE CHOICE AT THE END OF THE EPISODE? 218 Responses
The music choice for the climax of the episode wound up being very controversial, as many had different expectations than what MAPPAâs final product delivered to us. Though, it seems that overall the majority werenât bothered at all by the music direction. 28% felt that it worked well with the scene, 22.9% very much enjoyed the music direction. 17% didnât even notice the music much, being more immersed in the animation and overall development. Some felt let down, but realized in hindsight that maybe they expected too much for certain tracks (new and old) to be utilized. The rest either donât care about the music or were massively let down by the execution overall.
It felt like Tyburs orchestra was playing them throughout the episode. It felt immersive.Â
Dude it was bloody brilliant, what's everyone on about?
Not a let down, but I found it kinda funny that they chose that one. It seemed too... intense, upbeat, I'd say. Though if I was an anime-only I probably wouldn't care, because I wouldn't know what Eren was really gonna do.
I imagined *that track* behind this scene since reading ch 100 years ago so it was weird to hear different music, but as I rewatched the ep a couple of times I changed my opinion: the music they used fits just as well.
What I cared about most was proper execution of the scene, not the music. They could have used no music at all for all I care. I seriously can't believe some "fans" were so bitter about them not using YouSeeBigGirl for the declaration of war that they personally attacked the director and made him feel bad. Have we already forgotten that if it wasn't for MAPPA, we wouldn't be getting a season 4 at all?! The ungratefulness and toxic criticism is something else, man.
I was waiting for intense music, I didn't care which, but I was let down by the lack of intensivity build-up for me.
My month is ruined
It could've been better, but fuck the assholes who harassed the director over it.Â
During the whole speech it was just perfect, you can really feel that growing tension. End music could be better thoughÂ
If they had just synced up 2volts explosive chorus right as Eren busts through the building in his titan form, then I think it would've worked out so much better. But yeah, I think I just over anticipated a different OST for the scene. Overall, it's okay.Â
It was ok, an 8/10 choice of music
While watching I was so focused on what was happening that I didn't even notice the music so when I saw the complaints I was shocked. Keeping that moment low key until the very end with no musical signals of what was to come was perfect! Anime audiences (you know, the people this is actually for) were completely caught off guard by Eren's transformation. They legit thought Eren was befriending Reiner in that moment by lending him a hand. Having musical cues would've ruined it.
WHEN WILLY TYBUR NOTED THAT HE WISHED FOR THE EXTINCTION OF ALL ELDIANS, THE MANGA SHOWCASED A PANEL OF ZEKE, FORESHADOWING HIS ULTIMATE PLAN FOR THE FUTURE. IN THE ANIME, THIS IS JUXTAPOSED WITH REINERâS SUICIDAL PLEAS. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE CHANGE? 213 Responses
MAPPA seems to be keeping the audience even more in the dark about Zekeâs motivations than Isayama himself did in the manga⌠by excluding just about everything hinting at him having any motivations other than pure loyalty to Marley. In episode 64, the opted to juxtapose Willyâs speech with Reiner and Eren, leaving Zeke out of the equation. 43.2% overall were disappointed in this decision, with 24.9% feeling let down by the lack of foreshadowing of Zekeâs plan, and the other 18.3% feeling saddened by the lack of narrative contrast between the Yeager Brothers. 17.4% are hopeful for some anime-only foreshadowing.
i donât really care about the juxtapositioning because i think the average anime only would not pick it up. but i am disappointed that the scenes that made zeke more enigmatic and suspicious were cut
Didn't even notice
I never noticed this detail in the manga, but i feel like it was better being left out to keep it as a secret.
I found it to be an effective way to make Zeke's motives even more mysterious. I also didn't mind the scene being juxtaposed with Reiner's scene because it serves as a reminder of Reiner's guilt and brainwashing from the past. Both of these things have torn him apart mentally.
It works either way for different reasons
WHICH SCENE FROM THE PREVIEW ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO? 218 Responses
The majority (52.3%) were most looking forward to Erenâs fight with the War Hammer Titan. 19.3% were hyped for Erenâs initial emergence from his titan form during the fight. 9.6% were looking forward to the Survey Corps throwing Pieck and Porco off guard, 8.3% were looking forward to Erenâs assault on the military and the remainder were looking forward to seeing Udo and Zofia die. Magath got a very tiny sliver of the pie.
Can't wait to watch Eren giving them the deaths they deserve again
ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS ON THE EPISODE?
I felt tense most of the time, just like when I was watching most episodes of s3 pt. 2 :')
The suspense truly killed me!!! Even tho I knew what was to come!
....I just want to know if miss tybur gets a goddamn given name already... but considering how long it took for us to get âPieck Fingerâ? Dx
I likes the addition of the marley soilders approaching where eren and reiner were talking, it gave it an extra bit of intensity.
Was on the edge of my seat for the entire episode despite knowing what would happen. The VA's also delivered some of the best performances of the entire series so far.Â
I absolutely loved the whole episode, the overall atmosphere, the tension building during the speech, and of course the soundtrack was excellent imo, I was not even expecting YSBG myself as I don't watch SoulMadness' videos, so in my mind that scene played out to some botched mental version of Counter Attack Mankind instead... :P
I may have known what was happening... But the music made it so much better and intense.
Also I wholeheartedly believe those professional and experienced directors know better than randoms on the internet who never directed anything. I never thought such a thing could be so controversial. :) - Ryuuhime (I lurk on reddit but almost never post)
Amazing aside from the ost at the end and the lack of direction for the transformationÂ
We should thank Mappa for the amazing job thus far!
Intense. Somehow even more intense than the manga at times.Â
People really need to shut the fuck up and just be grateful that such an amazing studio is giving us what we never thought weâd see in a thousand years. Mappa has been going above and beyond to give us a great season and so far itâs taken the top spot of my favorite season, knocking Season 2 down to my second favorite. The voice acting, the added scenes, the directing, the animation, the character designs, Iâm just grateful weâre finally seeing all of these things in the quality we havenât gotten since Season 2. Bless Mappa đđđ
Okay I'm kind of hoping we'll get the big panel of Eren emerging in the next episode cause that was pretty sick, but s4 is looking awesome so far and I think MAPPA is doing as well as they can- and exceeding expectations IMO considering WIT did so well and we all thought whoever took up SnK was gonna flop.
Fantastic adaptation. There was a lot to love. People need to calm down about the ost.Â
It was rushed and lost some of its impact from the manga, but it was an otherwise excellent piece of anime storytelling when detached from the manga experience.
Isayama probably got a say in the play's direction. It was amazing.
I genuinely enjoyed watching this episode! I don't really understand all the hate towards it.
Overall, phenomenal and everything I had wanted it to be. Â
AMAZING Episode. Wished for a better ost at the end but the current anime version is growing on me Â
Very well done, the next one's gonna be fire! đĽđ
talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, shit on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it.
Not as strong of an adaption as other episodes, but great because the source is great.
I was so hyped for the declaration of war that I forgot that most of the episode would be dialogue. A LOT of it. Uyy. Next episode will be better.
The songs are very important on a scene, but i don't think that justifies hating on the anime just for that, the episode was great, and Mappa is doing just fine.
It pisses me off how ungrateful this fandom can be. I'm not saying we cant criticise, because that's important and valid. But seeing a vocal minority, harass the director over a song choice (which had been well made, 2Volt was great for the moment as well as the OST throughout the episode) to the point where he locked his twitter account just takes it too far. People should remember that the Anime is made for anime onlies in the first place, and I have seen VERY few anime watchers complain about the episode, next to none, actually. It's always some of the Manga readers. We literally got a perfect episode, what else do you demand? Without Mappa we wouldn't have AOT. I'm just happy we finally get the story animated.
Pretty good overall. It felt really well paced compared to the previous episodes that seemed hella rushed to me. I understand the music complaints, but otherwise a good episode :)

Test of determination
Summary: Thomas tries to overcome some of his fears by going on a horror ride on a theme park. shenanigans ensues.
Characters: Thomas, Joan, Patton, Logan, Virgil, Janus, Roman, Remus
Pairing: none really, but could be read as Intruality :)
Words: 2250 (nice number)
Warning: jumpscare, caps lock. Let me know if I should add anything else!
Authorâs note: This is very silly and light hearted, but I had the idea a few days ago and I wanted to write it. Plus we donât have nearly enough Intruality content so even if this is not romantic, itâs still the two of them. Hope you like it!
-----------------------------------
Thomas faced the attraction that stood before him. A horror ride. Even though it was mostly aimed for teens, he couldn't help but gulp. Did he really wanted to do this ?
Joan, can you remind me why I asked to come here?
-  Well, you said you wanted to overcome some of your fears or something like that. And I thought we could start with something light to ease you into it smoothly. And if it ends up being too much, we'll stop.
Thomas sighed, running a hand through his hair  Yeah... yeah. I can do this. How bad could it be, right ? It's just a silly attraction, nothing more. I can do this.  He smiled weakly. The hand of his friend on his should helped him ease some tension and so, he bought the tickets and went on the ride.
âŚ
He absolutely could not do this.
The first minute of this was bearable... The second, not so much, and the poor man already had his eyes shut .
-  How long does this one take ?
-  I think it's 10 minutes ?  said Joan, who was sitting just next to Thomas, unphazed at the thing.
10 minutes.... so he had to deal with.... 8 more...
He could do this.... He could do this...Even though right now, he was feeling like he could do anything but this.
And what does this mean for his Sides ?
Well, Virgil was curled up in a ball, his hoodie covering everything but his bang, and he was trying very hard not tell Thomas anything stupid. Logan was next to him, on the 17th slide out of 82 slide Powerpoint about why this ride was not in fact going to kill Thomas and how this ride was in fact most probably harmless. Janus also tried to calm Virgil, even though he couldn't help his irritated tone.  Could you not make Thomas feel miserable for two seconds ?   Well I can't really help it, in case you didn't know you idiot. It's not like it's my job or anything. , on the other hand, Roman was stress-singing his heart out, his katana out and ready to smack everything that would appear too close to him.
And meanwhile, Remus was having the time of his life. He couldn't help his giggling and squealing. All of the sudden imagery inspiring more and more ideas from him, making Virgil growl at him with new levels of angry. Of course, the couldn't care less. The looks of rage directed at him everytime he spoke up were pleasing, even.
ÂŤÂ OH !! OH !!! WHAT IF THE BATS SCRATCH YOUR EYES AND IT GOT ALL INFECTED ??!??? Â
-  REMUS SHUT UP !!! JUST SHUT UP!
-  Remus, if you want to blurt out thoughts like that right now, have the decency of speaking backward or something so we don't have to understand what you're thinking about. Taking care of the crying toddler is already not easy.
-  You're the fucking toddler.
-  Oh, look at Virgil, making comebacks and swearing. You're such a big boy. How mature of you.
-  You two quit it.
The two shut up for about 2 seconds before another jumscare made Virgil yelp and Janus groan. Getting the two to team up really wasn't easy. Roman examined the space quickly before frowning.
Hey, has anyone seen Patton ? I don't remember seeing the puffball anywhere.
-  What if he's hurt ?  the anxious side perked up.
D-Don't worry kiddos ! I'm f-fine !  came a shaking voice. Everyone looked as Patton tried to come closer to his friends without his legs betraying him, clearly not fine. Janus scoffed.
Please.  he grunted as Logan punched his elbow a bit.
What ? It's virgil's job to act like an incompetent child, I don't think we can deal with two of them.
-  Can you not rub it in ?? Because I can make this unpleasant for the both of us.
-  Implying I enjoy anything about this ...
-  Stop.  Logan ordered firmly, silencing the two, then turned at Patton with a more gentle expression and a kinder voice.  Patton, what exactly is troubling you ?
The emotionnal side couldn't find something to look at for more than five seconds and tried to stare at Logan as he replied  Mmmhhh... a- a little bit of...everything ? I know fear is more of Virgil's department but umhh... this ride has a lot of things that makes me... nervous.
-  Sorry...  The anxious side mumbled.
-  Oh no don't worry it's okay ! I'm just... mhh... you know, this ride is very good at being scary, that's all !
-  Is there anything you think we could do to help ? Perhaps you could join Virgil as I continue to explain how most of the props are not made of flesh and therefore, most probably unable to harm us unless the people that made the rides are competent enough to write a very complex code to acomodate the machines used for the train.
-  ...Wow... thanks kiddo. I think that might actually hel- SPIDERS!!!!!
And just like that, the small comfort Patton had was gone. He jumped and tried to hold onto the closest whatever he could find.
And suddenly, the whole squad went silent.
Because the closest whatever Patton hold onto happened to be Remus.
The rat man stared, wide eyes at the poor mess Patton had become as the spiders pattern came from every corner of the ride and oh god so many spiders-
What if they're deadly ?? What if those spiders came in and got into your mo- Oh god there are an awful lot, you could drown in that many spiders and WHY DO THEY MOVE SO MUCH-
-  Virgil, stay with us. They aren't real it's just a light trick.  Even as his voice stayed even, it was clear that Logan was also nervous due to Thomas' general edge at the moment.
-  You okay there, Padre ?  Roman came closer to his brother, who was uncharacteristically quiet. Patton was burried deep into Remus' side and gripped the duke's clothes like a lifeline.
-  Umh... Y-yeah... Sorry kiddos ! You know how those little death dealer scare me... I can't help it.... A-Are you alright ?
Roman raised a brow  ...Yeah... I'm doing okay.  the question was : was remus alright, though ?
Ever since Patton hold onto him, he had his eyes locked on the moral side, and he froze like a statue. And Roman wished he had a telepathic link with his twin at the moment.
...
Remus did not like that.
Patton was being scared. And not because of anything he said. Patton was scared by what was happening outside right now....
Remus did not like seeing Patton scared.
At all.
He really wanted Patton to stop being so scared.
He could feel his heartbeat, his shaky breath, his trembling legs. Patton has always been terrified of spiders, and the general atmosphere did not help him calm at all. And patton, even though through sheer panic, grabbed Remus for comfort. He went to Remus for comfort..... Remus... remus...
Remus had to help him.
'Okay, for once in your lifetime Remus, focus.' He had to think of something to distract Thoma from whatever was happening before him..... Â Let's see.....
Spiders.... Spiders have fur. Remember that furry art that you stumbled across yersteday, Thomas?? This shit was definitely por
Fur ⌠Fur is soft.
Soft... like a pillow ?
Pillow... Sleep ...what if someone used a pillow to choke Thomas in his sleep ?
Sleep.... he could sing a lullaby ? Sounds too creepy. Let's start over. Let's see...
oOOH MY GOSH !!  Thomas jumped as the statue of a Witch light up before him.
- Okay. Next time you have an idea like that, remind me to stop yourself. We'll go sit somewhere calm after that
-  I-I'm okay ! I'm okay, Joan..  I-... just... tell me this is finished soon, please.
-  âŚYyyyyep.  They were only halfway through it, but Joan couldn't bring themself to worry Thomas even more. Poor man...
They both passed by the awfully clichĂŠ witch. Crooked nose, witch hat, green skin.
Green skin ?
Remus stopped at that.
That's it. He had an idea !
He slowly opened his mouth, and Roman stood curious. On the other side, Logan and Janus tried to calm the river of thoughts that escaped Virgil at an impressive speed. They tried to muffle the sound of this scary voice, but that only made Virgil bring up even more ideas.
Remus inhaled loudly, and sang as loud as he could.
ÂŤÂ SOMEBODY ONCE TOLD ME THE WORLD WAS GONNA ROLL ME-Â Âť
Every single side jumped at that. Virgil closed his mouth with an audible click and eyed Remus. Meanwhile Patton had to step back at the sudden sound, but kept his attention on Remus, who continued to sing.
The sudden song popping into Thomas' head made his nerves lose it and he started laughing uncontrolably
Virgil, Roman and Patton joined Thomas, and soon enough, the room was filled with wheezes and a perfectly on key sang 'All stars ' As Remus became more and more ridiculous in his movements. Roman joined him soon enough and they became the only thing you could focus on.
Janus sighed through his nose, but couldn't help his smile. Logan's eyes switched between Virgil, Remus and Janus.
- Well this is new
-  I think we already know this song ?
-  No, I'm talking about Remus. Weird how for once, he tries to calm the chaos in Thomas' mind... A surprise to be sure, but a welcomed one.
-Â ÂŤÂ ...Was that a-Â Âť
-Â ÂŤÂ Hey now, you're an all star, get your game on~~Â Âť He hummed, obviously avoiding Logan's question. The logical side soon followed the movement, with virgil joining in slowly after.
Sure, Thomas would jump a bit at the sudden pop in of the monsters, but the rest of the ride went extremelly well. And before he knew it, the ride stopped, and they had to get out of their seats. Thomas was still giggling to himself.
-  Well glad to see you made it out alive ! What caused your sudden mood boost?
-  Oh it's nothing. I just had a random song playing in my head and I wasn't expecting it at all.  He wiped a tear of laughter from his eyes.
-  Heh, I see. And hey. You did it ! You went through the whole ride first try !
-  I sure did ! I'm not doing that again anytime soon, though.
They both laughed and travel through the park, looking for the next attraction to do.
In the Thomasphere, things went smoother, and Remus could swear that when he locked eyes with Virgil, he mumbled a thanks before retreating in his room.
Logan was now debating with Roman on the next part of the park to go, and Janus was away, listening to the conversation but mostly in his thoughts. Remus took a step in his direction but Patton caught him before he made it to the yellow side.
Heya Remus... I just wanted to... emh... apologize for earlier. I wasn't at my best  he chuckled.  I didn't even ask before doing what I did and maybe I scared you as well so... if I did anything that bothered you, I apologize and know that I'll do my best not to do it again.
-  Aaaww, don't worry, Daddy. It caught me off guard sure, but if I didn't like it, I'd push you away before you can say 'kiddo' !
-  Oh, that's good to hear.
-  âŚÂ Âť
-  ...
-Â ÂŤÂ Well, I'll be on my w-Â Âť
-  Thank you, kiddo.
Remus' voice died on the spot.
Thank you very much. I know I'm not the... nicest with you at times, but you helped me and that was kind of you. So yeah... Thank you.
-  ...
-  ...
-  Boy, this is awkward.
-  Yep.
-  I'm not used to that soooo ummm....... You're welcome ?I guess ? I'll, uh... I'll see you around next time I cause problems on purpose.
-  Oh, yeah alright.  was all Patton could say before Remus escaped the discussion. And the words would not stop repeating in his head again and again and he knew it would drive him crazy with an emotion he's never felt before. And he knew he needed a time for himself right now.
Before dissapearing, he looked one last time at Patton, who went back to be the happy pappy Patton they knew, and a quick glance at Janus.
And he knew damn well the pleased grin on the snake's face wouldn't leave anytime soon.

Ah, but what scenes in particular did you enjoy? The wangxian ones in general? Or were there any particular ones that stuck with you?
-the axe cultivator
Oh, ac, I missed some of your question last time didn't I? So sorry. My head is kinda in the clouds these days
There are so many scenes that stuck with me, so I'll make a bullet list and probably still miss some ^^
It's such a small thing but in ep 1 the transition from the tale of how wei wuxian was killed transitions to the tea house via a shit from within sizhui's trea cup as he's pouring tea "onto the camera". It's nothing special but remember loving that shot so much the first time I watched that it was one of the things that kept me watching
Wangxian-wise in the first two episodes, I'd be remiss not to mention that handgrip when wei wuxian plays wangxian to calm wen ning down. Because it goes on ... and on ... and on. When I watched it for the first time I was like "ooohhhh so it's gonna be this kind of gay". You know the endless-longing-stares kind. And now when I rewatch it's just devastating. The last time they saw each other before this scene, they also held onto each others wrists but wei wuxian let go and fell to his death. And here lan zhan is, holding on for minutes and only let's go once jiang cheng threatens wei wuxian. Just ... đ
i started shipping xiyao from their very furst sxebe together. Those two actors (i try to remeber their names but i always forget them again. My memory is shit when it comes to names :/) really just did want some of that sweet sweet homoerotic tension. Also, their first interaction stand out to me as the moment i really started to like lan xichen. In a setting that was shown early on to be highly hierarchical, he exhibited in the very forst scenes that he is willing to disregard someone's standing and look at their character and abilities instead. I just really love xichen â¤
Okay, i can't name one scene per episode, so letâs sum them up a little
I adore this progression during the cloud recesses and the yin iron arc from a flirtratious rivalry to genuine deep freindship and love. There are so many little moments that stand out because of the subtle acting joices made my wang yibo and xiao zhan, as well as the script, The lantern scene, when Wei Wuxian doesnât betray the yin iron secret to huaisang and lan wangji goes âhu, so your bullshitting has reasonsâ, when they are in the market and lan zhan actually communicates that he doesnât like crowds and wei wuxian pulls him closer but not into the crowd and so many others. When you watch closely, you see them realising little details about each other and Iâm honestly so impressed with how amazingly the process of their falling in love was portrayed
fast forward a bit: obviously, the freaking montage quasi-fan vid in the middle of the cave scene set to their freaking love song. I remeber when I first watched this scene I actually, literally screamed. I could not believe it because their was no fucking way that this could be read as anything but romantic and I was not used to that much blatant queer romance!
A little less happy (okay a lot). The entire destruction of the jiang clan with a special mention to the scene when Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian just saw the bodies and run into fields where they fight and Jiang Cheng chokes Wei Wuxian and then they just fall back in exhaustion and sleep right there under the open sky. Everything about that scene was brilliantly done and also soul-crushing. The loss of innosence in that moment devastated me. It was so obvious that in the moment of deepest despair, all of these childrenâs traumas and deep-seated fears reared their ugly heads. So Jiang Cheng directs all his grief at the easiest target for his anger and Wei Wuxian just takes it because that is what he thinks is his job. And the real tragedy? This dynamic will not be broken until Wei Wuxianâs literal death. These children need therapy so goddamn badly and all they get is more trauma on top of their excisting trauma.
âThe single log bridgeâ scene. I. Am. A. Sucker for the found family trope, especially for characters who cronically think they have to do everything on their own. So there Wei Wuxian is saying he will walk his dark path alone, but instead he finds lit lanterns and a humble feast prepared for him by people who love him. That juxtaposition kils. me. every. time. YOU ARE LOVED WEI WUXIAN! FOR YOURSELF!
(Shout out to the second time his word are refuted, this time by lan wangji and *gasp* verbally. Because there is NO better love declaration than that scene in front of basically every leader of cultivation world who politely wait for their turn to attack them)
Luo Qingyang removing herself from the narrative. I literally cry every time.
Talking about women: jiang yanli defending wei wuxian and calling him her brother. That moment is the "three things all wise men fear" quite incarnat, only it's the anger of a gentle woman
âLet me goâ So ... I have SUCH a thing for couple who grapple with questions of when it is time to let go and when it is time to hold on. So Wangxian hits all my buttons. I will go further into this in my last bullet point (about the very last scene)
Oh god, this list is gonna get so long and iâm still going to forget things
In the present timeline:
Again, to sum it up, all the gentle wangxian moment where they look at each other and their entire face grows soft. Every almost-smile lan wangji sends wei wuxian, every "oh. He really loves me huh?"-look from wei wuxian. Especially in the Jingshi just after lan Xichen's loredrop. These two intensly guarded people (yes, wei wuxian is guarded,he just hides behind smiles) are so open with each other. I only have to see a guf of lan wangji with his heir down and I go feral!
Talking about that episode, the lan family backstory as a scene does things to me. And I remember watching that the first time and so much of lan wangji's behaviour suddenly making sense. Especially little lan zhan kneeling in front of his motherâs house and that being how he showed his grief really drove home just how this man exhibits emotion. I'm pretty sure that that was the moment he really became my favourite character.
Same episode and a start juxtaposition to the domestic scene between wangxian before: the talk between lan xichen and Jin Guangyao just afterwards. You could probably write an essay of meta about the parallels and differences between those two scenes and I think that's deliberate because they're back to back. The lan brother's share tea with the person closest to their hearts. One is finally able to open himself fully, the other closes up more than he ever has before with this person. The framing in that scene alone drives that message home, never mind its content. It's heart-wrenching and so well done!
Talking about xiyao: jin guangyao's death for similar reasons. Just ... arrrgh
I'm sure I've missed a ton but thus is already so long so I'll close with my favourite overall: the last scene. The parting and subsequent reunion on the mountaintop. I've stated before why this means so much to me. It is such a reassuring message to me: to have two intensely different people learn to understand and love each other exactly as they are. Being who they are, the occasionally walk different paths. But they don't limit each other. They learn to improve each other by just being there when they are and therefore know and trust that their love will return.
This was mostly cql because you asked for "scenes", but have some honorary novel mentions:
Lan Wangji: "The face says nothing. Listen to the heart-beat." đđđ
The moment when wei wuxian collapses after the second siege and lan sizhui expresses surprise over this, lan wangji says something like "We are all human." I love that moment for many reasons. 1) it's one of the rare direct insights into lan wangji's thoughts. No matter how brief he is here, you don't say something like that just because. 2) and it's significant that he is the one saying it because he, too, is placed on a pedestal. In fact, I think a lot about mdzs boils down to the conflict between the inner self and outer perception and how that dichotomy can be both a deliberate shield (lan zhan being the perfect example) and a curse
I hope you and your axe are having a wonderful day đĽ°

Yeah, no fucks to give here!
Really not into this ship - at least not in a romantic & sexual context.
â
At this point, I think it is best, if I put a little clarification here, before I continue:
This is just about my personal opinion, theories & headcanon - and by no means lays a claim to general validity (nor does your POV, btw).
I have more of a pick & choose approach to fandom subjects, anyway, so I can customize the experience exactly according to my needs and wishes. This is fiction, after all - the realm of endless possibilities - where anything goes, and where there is a place for the preferences of all of us.
That said, I really want to point out that I have nothing against people shipping the Dr. with Agent Stone - but since I, personally, prefer m/f ships, Iâd rather choose the female OC approach, as itâs also my beloved villain x heroine constellation (not the subject of this post, though).
My take on the dynamic between the Dr. and his assistant is, therefore, quite a bit different from the fandom popular one. Well, to each his own.
What this post definitely is not, is an invitation for a debate regarding character interpretation, shipping choices, etc. - and all the potential drama that this might entail. If that is what youâre after, then Iâd politely ask you to leave now, because all you are doing is wasting both of our time.
Letâs just agree to disagree and move on, k!?
I do my thing and you do you, guys!
I suppose, I made myself abundantly clear now.
â
Anyway, to return to the topic âŚ
Where have all the male friendships & professional partnerships in fandom gone!?
Because, personally, I think agent Stone rather relates to his boss on that levelâŚ
Robotnik being a role model of some sort, that is - not unlike a kohai & senpai, or a younger & older brother constellation, actually - where the former looks up to the latter due to certain traits that he admires (and Stone certainly does). Regarding the age difference of the two, this could also make sense.
Iâd estimate that Stone canât be much older than his mid-twenties at most, since heâs in the position of a junior agent and assistant - still at the very beginning of his career path. And heâs very capable, disciplined and professional, at that, which is probably why he made it as Robotnikâs assistant at all (unsurprisingly, given the man isnât the most patient).
Speaking of whom - I think, regardless of Jim Carrey being in his late fifties at that point - he, himself, canât be that old, actually. My personal take (& preference) here would be late thirties, which would still make a lot of sense regarding his academic and occupational career. Being this overachieving genius, I guess that he finished school in time-lapse mode, skipping one, or even more grades - same goes for uni. Therefore, it wouldnât surprise me if he was done by the age of 25 - his five PhDs included (bet he did two at once), which would still give him plenty of time to make his way as an agent and scientific government official up to the time of the events of the movie.
Aside from that, I canât help but see parallels to the dynamic of Piett and Vader here, as well - a mixture of professional esteem and a bit of intimidation. But certainly no outright fear, as Stone is hardly under the threat of being strangled to death by his superior, like poor Piett is.
That is not to say that Robotnikâs still frequent misconduct towards him is ok (it definitely is not), but it certainly is more mild than he behaves towards, say, pretty much anyone else. Btw, that includes the âpin yourself to the wallâ, grabbing him by the bottom lip and dragging him towards himself, while glaring at and chiding him (For what exactly!? Not being perfect, or as smart as him!? Chill, man, the boy is doing his best, and heâs doing a good job!).
Fandom, of course, does what it always loves to do - construe this as âevidenceâ for the alleged attraction between the two, which is pretty far-fetched, imho (âŚalthough youâre surely free to interpret it this way, if you so please. As I said, this is just my pov & to each his own. *shrugs*).
Anyway, you can clearly see Robotnik displaying this type of behaviour, along with the invasion of personal space, towards other male characters as well - be it âMajor Nobody Caresâ, âOfficer Brainfartâ, the big bar dude he threw out of the window, or Tom Wachowski. So, following this line of argument, does that mean heâs into these guys, as well!? Honestly, thatâs pretty ridiculous!
If anything, it is a blatant display of asserting dominance, bringing the message home that he is the alpha male, while putting his opponent / subordinate in his place - and thatâs it! What this behaviour definitely is not, however, is something remotely shipping related.
Besides, there are many examples of other male characters doing this for similar reasons, too - amongst others Darth Vader (remember that scene between him and Orson Krennic!?), and Severus Snape (after Harry invaded his memories during the occlumency lessons). And Robotnik does that quite aggressively in the cases above. In fact, it seems to be a fairly consistent behavioural pattern with him (not that he actually needed that though, but thatâs an entirely different matter).
As for Robotnikâs personal attitude towards his assistant, I think Stoneâs one of the very few people he actually respects, and even likes, because the young manâs esteem for him is so genuine, while everyone else regards him pretty much like nothing more than an asset, or a threat.
Itâs not like he doesnât somewhat encourage being kept in that position himself, behaving like he does - aside from actively reducing himself to his intellect & academic prowess. This isnât all that surprising, as it is something he apparently gets his entire sense of self-worth from, and likely the only thing he got any appreciation for from others, which is, perhaps, also why he constantly needs to spotlight said trait (no behaviour someone truly at one with himself & his abilities would display, btw). Then, there is his little tolerance for failure - especially when it comes to himself. He truly expects to perform flawlessly, like a machine, and when he doesnât, that really seems to unsettle him (that face when Tom points his unsuccessful attempts to catch Sonic out to him ⌠he was so offended, he almost looked like he wanted to cry ^^;;).
So, of course it is likely that he becomes quite attached to the sort of attitude and behaviour that Stone displays towards him, even though he wouldnât think of it this way - because, you know, emotional bonds with other human beings obviously are beneath him (Yeah, sure, we did see the veracity of that claim afterwards, didnât we!?).
But, then again, growing up as an emotionally starved child and adolescent, used to being brushed aside, and, later, deliberately distancing himself from other people, he actually might have no clue whatsoever how to appropriately deal with things like these, and thus brushes them aside as âweaknessâ, which really does make sense, especially in the context that he was bullied as well.
Same goes for him eventually adopting the habit of pushing other people away via plain disagreeable behaviour. I think this phenomenon is called âhedgehogâs dilemmaâ, and it is quite ironic that he is more afflicted by it than his blue nemesis.
It is so painfully obvious that this guy has some massive issues, stemming from past emotional neglect and negative experiences - so much, that he even rejects all things human altogether, along with his own humanity.
His excessive idealization of and identification with technology, therefore, comes quite in handy as a defense mechanism in order to cope with said experiences.
Machines donât ask much of you, they do what they are told, they are predictable, and they - above all - canât suddenly abandon, betray, humiliate, and hurt you (which, I think, is the crux of the matter here).
Even though he might claim that his robots are everything to him, and that he doesnât need anything and anyone else - his actions, however, prove otherwise ⌠let alone his constant spiteful remarks on the matter, which just sound so damn bitter.
We can recognize that quite clearly when he is forced into involuntary seclusion on that mushroom planet at the end. This is where we see that what he truly is missing are not his machines (I bet he could have easily built a robot to accompany him out of the wreckage of his vessel), but one of the few people (maybe even the only one at that point), that he had apparently grown to value as worthwile company - namely agent Stone.
And, yes, it is very evident that he misses him (platonically, for me - but this isnât even the point here) - he even tries to make a rock resemble Stoneâs likeness in order to have someone to âtalk toâ, and mimic the social interactions he had with him.
Essentially, all those objects and machines are but a substitutive gratification that he tries to use, but that never come remotely close to the real deal, let alone are ever able to replace it.
In the end, heâs still a human being, along with all the human needs that go along with it - human contact and care included.
If the psycho-social and emotional makeup of his closest known relatives is any indicator to how his own might be structured - and it usually is (Iâm speaking about the nature aspect, not nurture) - then he canât be such a bad guy, after all - at least not inherently.
Taking his grandfather Gerald Robotnik, for example, who loved his granddaughter Maria (a total sweetheart) so much, that he was willing to do anything for her, in order to heal her from the fatal illness that was afflicting her - and who literally went insane with grief after losing her - then it shows someone with a strong emotional life, who feels what he feels very keenly and deeply. Furthermore, he is also someone that happens to bond very selectively, but if that is the case, it has this virtually absolute quality about it, with a love just as intense and profund to match (which is quite beautiful, actually).
On the other hand, though, that can also mean someone that has a high degree of emotional vulnerability, and who, therefore, is susceptible to sustain lasting damage from interpersonal traumatic experiences (which happens to be the case here, imho).
More often than not, it is this type of person that is likely to cork up their feelings and harden their hearts as a result - and who use every opportunity to deride the very traits, needs, and wishes they worked so hard to push away, if they see them in others. That is, amongst others, what gives them away. Itâs pure projection - which is why I think that his caustic remarks should definitely not be taken at face value.
There are many, many examples of villains (or anti-heroes) that fit this type. Robotnik would hardly be an exception.
Besides, it is nice to see that Jim Carrey seems to have a fairly similar take on that matter (not that I actually care, but still):
â⌠and all it really comes down to is, he wants to be special to somebody, only itâs gone megalomania for him.â [x]
Ouch! Poor guy, actually.
He seems a lot like Ozai in that regard. No wonder I dig this dude (aside from him being hot, that is, haha) - heâs totally the type of villain I fancy.
And also, like itâs the case with Ozai, I canât help but wonder about his past, given there is known so little about it (aside from a few hints), so the following will be about some of my personal theories and headcanons about him, his family, and his past.
These are such important characters (main antagonists, no less), yet the creators canât bring themselves to be more specific about the most basic facts concerning their families. Ugh, huge pet peeve here! Nobody expects a huge ancestral chart down to the tiniest details, but they could at least offer more info about their closest relatives - especially the parents, who happen to have the most formative influence on a person.
How old was he, when his parents died, anyway!? That they died seems pretty much a given, as that is what being an orphan is about, per definitionem (and he referred to himself as such). But how did they die? Did he witness their death, or was he absent?
Personally, I have this theory that their demise might very well be linked with what happened to his grandfather Gerald Robotnik, and his cousin Maria. Perhaps they were on that space research colony during the military assault, and were also amongst the âcollateral damageâ there.
From what I read, the recruited scientists lived there, so I reckon that they did bring their families with them, which is likely, since it is said that Maria was born there, so at least her parents must have lived there for an extended amount of time, as well. Since Ivo isnât Mariaâs brother, but her cousin, Gerald must have had at least two children, who lived alongside him (⌠and his wife!? No info about her, either.) on that station.
While I think both of Ivoâs parents were from prominent scientist families (after all, that is what the population of this space station was comprised of), it is still unclear whether or not they remained on that station. I am inclined to believe they might have split their time between there and Earth, as Maria and Ivo donât appear to have been particularly close, such as, for instance, her and Shadow (who was pretty much her only friend there), but I think that might also have been the case due to a difference in age.
Maria was 12 years old when she died during the military attack on the station. Since Ivo apparently seems to have no significant memory of his parents, and seems to have spent his childhood as an orphan, he canât have been older than 3-4 during this incident.
With Gerald arrested, and pretty much the rest of the inconvenient Robotnik family gone, aside from that small child, I think the military decided to take him along, simply because of the vast potential of this child, coming from a bloodline of geniuses, that was now theirs to mold and to exploit.
They likely left the boy in an orphanage afterwards, mostly to his own devices, and without any support, or caregiver whose bonds transcended the mere duty of keeping their fosterling alive - a lonely life, largely deprived of emotional warmth and attachment.
However, they did keep him under close monitoring, so they could intervene anytime they saw fit, to stir him in the direction they wanted - like a psychological experiment of sorts. I remember that in the movie the presiding pentagon guy referred to him as âa lab rat with teethâ - which is rather telling regarding how they perceived him, and pretty nasty, considering the implication.
The Robotnik name, though, they obviously did not refuse him - a decision they would come to regret later. While this allowed him the only tie to his ancestry, their legacy, however, didnât do him much good.
Gerald Robotnik was a disgraced man, known to the world as the genius madman, imprisoned and sentenced to death as a criminal - which was, by far not the whole truth. And yet, he was turned into this idealised picture of a hero by his grandson, who so admired his achievents and strove to become a scientist because of it, despite knowing only the official version of the story.
The tainted reputation of his grandfather would haunt Ivo for a long time to come. It would also become the lens through which he was perceived and judged by the world at large, and this turned out to be the main reason he was rejected, and, furthermore, relentlessly bullied by his peers - irrespective of his own accomplishments, which earned him at least the praise of his authority figures.
That he eventually snapped and retaliated, did not exactly improve the situation for him. While the bullying did stop for the greater part, the peoplesâ suspicion had turned into fear, as their concerns had come to pass after all, and, as a result, he was shunned even more.
In the following years, he was further on groomed to become this perfect military asset - a morally unchecked scientist and ruthless agent, that the government could deploy like the weapon they undoubtedly saw him as.
Unfortunately for them, however, their experiment didnât quite have the outcome they had anticipated, as he not only exceeded their expectations on an intellectual and scientific level, but, at the same time, became increasingly unstable, unpredictable (âpsychological tire-fireâ) and, hence, potentially dangerous - to such a degree that they became very hesitant to deploy him at all (despite the âperfect operations recordâ), and even downright terrified of him.
Frankly, I think theyâd also have ample reason to be afraid of him, other than just his obviously ambitious nature. The most prominent being a possible event, where he finds out about what truly happened to his family and himself, as well as their role in this. Needless to say, that he wouldnât take this lightly, considering all the shit he had to endure because of it, and likely seek revenge. Iâd really be curious about such a scenario.

character name(s)/alias/etc: harry james potter / the master of death
character age and date of birth: 24, 31st july 96.
character's pronouns/gender identity/romantic & sexual identity: he/him, genderqueer, bisexual/biromantic & polyam.
character faceclaim: avan jogia.
oc or canon + which fandom affiliated with: canon, harry potter/magical universe.
currently located: grimmauld place, kirington.
moral alignment + people/groups etc they are aligned to: chaotic good though there is a touch of lawful to it too, but the lines blur somewhat for harry since he isnât entirely supportive of all areas of government and law. harry, in spite of the horrors he has personally witnessed in life, is still incredibly supportive of the general idea of good and he does all he can to help keep what he fought so hard for in place. however, that doesnât mean heâs about to follow along blindly and easily with methods to get there. breaking and bending the rules has always been in harryâs style and thatâs never something that has changed. harryâs loyalties and alignments remain, as always, with ex-order members. with his closest friends. but also, with the wider magical communities across the world that he hopes to see all find freedom and peace in who they are. harry and his hero complex always wants to do good and help those less fortunate.
tell us about their personality/the kind of character they are/what kind of goals etc they have: cocky, arrogant and full of himself: heâs a double of his father through and through. but the fact is, harry also has both of his parents sweet hearts and kind, thoughtful natures. harry is, in spite of some closed-off natures in the past, a very warm and kind hearted person. he is very positive about people changing for the better, and helping people along that journey. he is patient and encouraging, but he can still be judgemental at times too-- falling into some old habits. he holds people to their past mistakes and can be a harsh critic alongside his fiery temper. but this has gotten a lot better with age and heâs not the same person he was in his school years at all. his edges can be a lot softer, but it takes time for that to show with someone. harry however, also deals with a lot of negative emotions within himself. he has severe ptsd among other mental illnesses and while heâs working on it, he still struggles with life after a war-- after being raised in it and constantly in the limelight as the âsaviourâ of the wizarding world. heâs become a lot more private and closed off, but itâs about to change when the world becomes aware of something he did almost three years ago now. harryâs goals remain fairly focused on helping to further shift the society he is a part of, to move it further than itâs archaic ways especially within government. but further than that, he wants to help not only educate young wizards, but those across the world that perhaps need it. harry longs to find a deeper purpose in life. itâs been almost seven years since the end of the wizarding war-- almost three years since he returned and settled down in albion, and yet, harry still feels as lost as he did the day the war ended and voldemort was defeated.
biography: harry spent his childhood in isolation. his only real reprieve from his abusive home would be the few times he managed to sneak out and run off to the woods and lose himself to his imagination. as a child, harry was extremely introverted and often lost inside his head. this changed greatly once he discovered the truth about himself, that he was a wizard, and started at hogwarts and made actual friends. harry always dreamed of a life of more, but due to the constant abuse from his âfamilyâ telling him how worthless he was, harry never believed it were possible till he started at hogwarts. harry suffered emotional, mental and physical abuse as a child. he was purposely isolated and âhidden awayâ and made to feel like a burden, like a shameful person. and the dursleyâs were racist fucks among all their abusive shit. they were downright disgusting to harry and no, he never forgave them. when he first ever visited the burrow, harry found a genuine, real safe place and he always felt ten times lighter anytime he was there.
harryâs life changed seemingly every single year at hogwarts and there was a dramatic, horrible event around ever corner. most of the time, they were part of a grander plot: lord voldemortâs return and take over. eventually, in what was meant to be his seventh and final year of study, the war between voldemortâs forces and the order ended. after a year spent hunting horcruxes and facing impossible odds, harry defeated voldemort. a final, brutal battle at hogwarts saw many loses, but eventually, the cruel dark wizardâs defeat was won.
and from there, harry disappeared. by december of the year 114, harry had booked passage out of albion and was headed for ketterdam. harry spent the next few years of his life travelling from place to place, seeing more of the world, witnessing different cultures and learning of the world. he hates what he sees in ravka, absolutely loathes what he witnesses in fjerda and shu han. but still, harry gains a greater appreciation for the world and disappearing from his life certainly helped him to feel better ( read: avoid ) his own problems. however, he did keep in contact with his closest friends for the entire time and met up with them from time to time, but he never returned to albion properly, not until in the year 118, harry potter finally went home.
an important thing to note is that while harryâs travels had been⌠fun, interesting for the most part, it had also been about gaining more knowledge of his and other kinds of magic. it had been about understanding that which he possessed, that which he never told anyone, not even his closest friends, that he still had: the deathly hallows. harry never set the elder wand back in dumbledoreâs grave. harry never dropped the resurrection stone. and of course, he kept the invisibility cloak. not that he needed the actual items. no, harry had already possessed each of them in the same instance and therefore, he became master of death. but he still kept them, feeling a call to the items and always fearing that setting them down would result in someone else hunting for them.
what harry found in these few years, was that there were stories across the world of the hallows. different names in places, different details to the story. but always, death was the focus. overcoming it the ultimate goal. inevitably, harry began testing and pushing the limits of his powers, powers that he found had only grown stronger with time and practice. it started with pushing his healing powers on both himself and others. it only grew from there and harry inevitably became wildly talented with wandless and non verbal magic-- a difficult feat for most weaver wizards. but when harry returned to albion, to the home his parents had died in, twenty two years old and a year older than they ever got the chance to be, something seemed to shift in harry. powered by his grief and fuelled by all heâd been learning, he tried something that was supposed to be impossible by normal standards. but then, when had harry ever gotten the chance to be normal? he raged, desperate to just bring his parents back, to grant them life that had been stolen from them-- to give them a chance, and to for once, stop having those he loved taken from him.
but the universe had other plans and instead, it backfired. harry gained extensive scarring along his forearms and outward from his heart. lightning scars more intense than that which graced his forehead. and still, no parents. but as he came back to himself there was someone there-- sirius black, his godfather.
itâs now been almost three years since that night, and harry has been living entirely at grimmauld place and has done his best to help his godfather readjust to this life and has developed a deeper bond with him. heâs incredibly grateful to have been given this chance, even if they both have their fears as to the price of it and how lasting itâll be. but for now, things seem to have been going well. harry has also been working for two and a half years now within the auror department for the ministry and is⌠casually dedicated. mostly heâs just⌠following what he figures is expected and demanded of him. but after more recent events in ravka, harry has a great interest in switching to a more international reach within his job.

Mercy Me - Part Four
(not my gif!)
PART ONE,  PART TWO,  PART THREE*
Summary: Jacqueline Laymore canât really tell when it started to hurt to call Spencer her friend. But that didnât really matter after she got kidnapped. Right now all that matters is getting home and getting Spencer Reid.
Warnings: Bombs, the slur d*ke censored, throwing up, sexist pig cops, homophobia
Word Count: 1074
A/N:Â while I identify as bisexual I feel uncomfortable using any slurs [or any slurs in general] towards the LGTBQ+ community because I personally have never had any harm come towards me due to my sexuality and because I am more attracted to men and could micro label myself heteroromantic, also iâm like 80% sure that this isnât how you should handle a bombing situation :|Â
Jollieâs was loud and dirty. Jollieâs had a guy with a bomb strapped around his stomach on the dance floor.
Jacqueline really doesnât like Jollieâs anymore.Â
She really was starting to think if this was just bad karma. If Jacqueline deserved what was being thrown at her. It was irrational of her to believe so faithfully in higher powers, yes, but praying seemed like a pretty communal thing in the current situation. Trudyâs labored breaths were going in one ear and out the other. Jacqueline was busy trying to remember what to do in this type of scenario, nine years in the FBI had, had to have taught her something.
An a, B bomb, yes, C c, D detonator. Did he have a detonator? Jacquelineâs eyes found the manâs hand and saw that there was a small remote in between his thumb and forefinger. âTrudy.â Jacqueline hit the back of her hand against Trudyâs arm.
âY-yeah?â Trudy was crying. Oh, God, she was crying.
âI need you to try and get out as many people as possible, and when you get outside, designate someone to call the police. Or you call the police and tell them there is a suicide bomber at Jollieâs.â Trudy nodded and Jacqueline sighed,
Then she stood up. With both hands up near her head, she took one tentative step towards the man with the bomb. âMy name is Dr. Jacqueline Laymore. I am unarmed and I just want to speak with you.â Jacqueline heard a rustling from behind her and she sighs in relief inwardly.
âWhatâs your name?â Jacqueline asked.
âKieran Markson,â the bomber said. Jacqueline nodded and took another step forward.
âOk, Kieran. Why are you bombing this bar?â Her voice was shaky. Why was her voice so God damn shaky?Â
Kieran swallowed, âMy sister came out as a d*ke because of some slut from this bar.â He spits onto the floor near Jacquelineâs feet. In the corner of her eye, she can see red and blue lights. As much as Jacqueline hates the police and what they do in most situations, she was happy to see their arrival.
Jacqueline stared into Kieranâs eyes, âWhy do you feel the need to bomb this bar though. Instead of talking with your sister? Or even cutting her out of her life?â The words left a bad taste in her mouth. She never never recommends cutting a family member out of your life. She had seen first hand what not being accepted by those closest to you can do to a person.Â
âThey⌠They broke my sister! This bar made her lose her job and friends and everyone who supports it should die!âÂ
âWith that logic,â Jacqueline thought, âHe must be telling the truth.â
âCan you hand me the detonator, please? I want us to talk seriously, and Iâm afraid youâll accidentally set off your plan before you can really do the most damage.â Jacqueline stretched out her hand, hoping, nay praying, that she played into his fantasies just right.
Just enough for her to take control of the situation without any deaths. Surprisingly, Kieran handed her the detonator. She held the hand holding the detonator up, so Kieran can see it at all times.
âKieran,â Jacqueline said, catching his attention on her face, not her hand, âDo you have any other weapons on your person?â Kieran shook his head. Jacqueline raked her eyes over his body, double-checking. Though he didnât lie and hasnât yet.
The small remote then arched through the air, a theatrical arc, before landing somewhere behind the bar. Kieran watched the detonatorâs motions with his mouth agape and his eyes wide. He started hyperventilating. âThe bars empty Kieran.â The twoâs eyes met. Kieran had this fire behind his eyes, Jacqueline's, on the other hand, were blank. This isnât her first time doing a really, really bad job de-escalating a bomb situation.
Kieran, in the short time that sheâs known him (a good thirty minutes), is a very narcissistic person, who is also fiercely loyal to those heâs close to. âYouâve failed your sister, Kieran. Itâs over now.â Kieran narrowed his eyes and dove towards Jacqueline. She side-stepped him and shoved him towards the ground, taking hold of his right arm and pinning him down.Â
Luckily, Jacqueline heard familiar footsteps. Policemen walked into the bar and found Jacqueline pinning down a writhing bomber. She also recognized Trudy's feet next to the Police's boots. "Ma'am. Can you please get off of him please?"
"I'm SSA Dr. Jacqueline Laymore, give me the handcuffs, I'll detain him." Kieran started squirming more under her.
"We can't do that ma'am." One of the policemen said. Another took his phone out, most likely looking Jacqueline up and then showed his screen to an older cop.
"A. It's doctor not 'ma'am'. B. If I get off of him he is going to start fighting back. Do you really think that he isn't going to hurt us? You didn't even bring SWAT with you. Or the bomb squad!" The police officers made sounds of disagreement but Kieran --who hasn't stopped squirming-- chuckled at her statement.
Jacqueline flipped her hair off of her shoulder and glared at the oldest officer, the one arguing with her. "Give. Me. The. Handcuffs." Reluctantly, he handed the handcuffs to Jacqueline. She handcuffed Kieran forcefully and yanked him up by the chain in between the two cuffs.
"The bomb squad is outside, they'll get the bomb off." Jacqueline glowered at the cop who informed her of this.
"You all handled this horribly. I'd be ashamed of yourselves," Jacqueline bit out. Her words sharp as her glare. The cop scoffed and rolled his eyes. Trudy came up behind Jacqueline and set her hand on Jacq's waist. She flinched at the pressure.
Trudy's breathing was hot on Jacqueline's ear, the piercings in her cartilage feeling odd with the new sensations. "That was like, really hot you know?"
"I didn't realize you were attracted really that attracted to me." Jacqueline pulled away from Trudy and walked into the women's bathroom, hoping that she doesn't follow her.
Jacqueline pushed open the first stall door. The first bathroom stall is the least used therefore the cleanest. People always skip it, but not me, and hopefully, not you either. His voice echoed in her head. Bouncing off of each corner in her brain. She angrily rubbed her hands against her skull trying to make it quiet. Serene and peaceful. Then she threw up in the toilet, emptying her stomach contents and purging the memory of that night.

The Transformers #22- Chaos Theory Part 1: Space Racism, Space Classism, and Space Pseudo-Romantic Tension Between Rivals
Before I jump into this comic, it is positively vital I talk about Drift.
Drift is an IDW original character, born on the page without any previous rendition. He was introduced in All Hail Megatron #5, which was Shane MeCarthyâs fifth solo writing credit for IDW publishing. He waited a whole five comics to introduce an original character, and Drift had reason and purpose to his creation- he was meant to honor Japan as the home of Transformers. He existed to show what a Decepticon defector would be like, and how both factions were losing the plot of the ideals they fought for. Pretty thought out stuff.
Meanwhile, in The Transformers #22, on the FIRST FLIPPING PAGE-
Okay, to be fair, Rung isnât super important here. He will be later on, but as it is, heâs just a funny little creamsicle man whoâs wandered into the scene. This also isnât technically his first appearance within the IDW publications; in the Last Stand of the Wreckers, there are several character profiles, penned in-universe by Rung, going over the members of the Wreckers and their various emotional/mental ailments. This is still quite the step up for him, however. To think, he started out as a one-off psych joke in Eugenesis. Heâs come such a long way. Iâm so proud of him.
Anyway, our story begins in the past, at Maccadamâs New Oil House, where itâs time for Megatronâs character depth injection. He and Impactor are having drinks- Impactorâs had several glasses of what appears to be molten lava, while Megatronâs more of a childrenâs cough syrup kind of guy- and Megatronâs showing his friend his writing. You see, Megatronâs a bit of a revolutionary, and an intellectual one at that.
Megatron is dissatisfied with the current state of affairs on Cybertron, and as a man of the people- he is but a lowly miner at this point in time- he feels it is the duty of the public to incite change through the power of language and critical thinking.Â
Thatâs not really Impactorâs style though, as we find out when Rung gets tossed onto their table, and Impactor decides that the best course of action to take is to start punching the guys whoâre throwing entire robots around in a bar full of very breakable glasses and drunkards.
In the present day, Megatronâs still hooked up to that full-body harness, and is currently being seen to by Ratchet⌠and Perceptor. When the hell did Perceptor get here?
Oh, okay, cool. Thank you, TFWiki.
Ratchet runs a bit different than one would expect him to here, not quite as grumpy as heâll end up in MTMTE, and a bit superstitious. No, the role of the strictly-fact-based bluntness has been awarded to Perceptor this issue, who quells Ratchetâs concern with Megatron using his labelled black hole/antimatter powers by telling him to stop being stupid.
Meanwhile, in the observation room, Ironhide, Optimus Prime, and Xaaron are watching this scene go down. Xaaronâs here to act as legal council, since Megatronâs surrendered himself to the Autobots and is therefore a prisoner of war. Is this the first time legal precedent has been taken into account by the Cybertronian population in the IDW run? No, but it does seem as if Xaaronâs just about the only form of legal council they have. No wonder the planetâs such a mess.
Thereâs a reference to the fact that Ironfist is fucking dead, and then Xaaron leaves to talk to Wheeljack.
Donât you smile about that, you absolute jag.
Something is bothering Optimus Prime. Megatron seemed off when they last spoke, as if he were putting on a performance. Which he kind of was, considering he invited the entirety of his Decepticon forces to watch him and Optimus beat the shit out of each other. Does Megatron want to- dare we dream it?- end the war? Only one way to find out: Ironhide suggests a heart to heart.
Back in the past, Megatron is being questioned by a cop, in the aftermath of what happened at Maccadamâs.
Did Megatron get his groupâs tagline from some prison graffiti? I suppose inspiration can strike someone anywhere, at any time.
Springarmâs questioning Megatron, or at least heâs attempting to- seems to be having a hell of a time with both reading comprehension and having an outdated form. Cold construction gets its first mention in officially published media- an idea played around with in Eugenesis- and then Whirl shows up to save Springarm from embarrassing himself further. Whirl is a cop here, but donât worry, he gets better.
Back in the present, Optimus is psyching himself up for his conversation with Megatron. Â He enters, has the audio in the observation room cut, and Wheeljack loses a bet.
Oh hey, Drift, been a minute.
Optimus wants a proper conversation with Megatron, but Megatron points out that it isnât exactly fair that heâs strapped in place, filled with inhibitor chips, and primed to be electrocuted to death if he so much as sneezes. Optimus agrees with him, and releases Megatron from his bonds, then offers him a chair and a cup of tea.
So, Optimus and Megatron get to talking. Actual talking, not the âtaking turns reactingâ stuff they usually get up to.
And then Optimus more or less calls Megatron a hateful son of a bitch to his face. Which Megatron seems to take in stride.
I think Megatron is the only guy in the universe to hate so insanely hard that it turned off his ability to get hot and bothered.
Of course, Megatron doesnât hate Optimus- oh, he could never. He just hates everything he stands for, and everything he does. Which, uh, doesnât leave a whole lot left over to not-hate. When asked if he hates Megatron, Optimus isnât nearly as composed and elegant about his thoughts. Itâs like he thinks âhateâ is a dirty word. So did I, when I was, like, six.
Theyâve been at war for so very long, itâs gotten to the point where the entirety of the galactic council has kicked any Cybertronian representative out, because these guys clearly have some issues that just arenât getting resolved. Maybe if they had more than a single mental health specialist for the entire population theyâd get somewhere.
As it currently stands, Optimus just wants to know what the hell Megatron is even doing all this for. Megatron says itâs for control and dunking on lower lifeforms with space racism. Optimus thinks thatâs a load of horseshit, and presses for more details.
Thereâs our first mention of the Knights of Cybertron, who become a major plot point in the IDW Phase 2 publications. Weâll hear more about them later on.
It seems as if Optimus and Megatron share the basest of values- both want peace. Optimus just isnât really digging the whole âsubjugate the people for a better tomorrowâ shtick Megatronâs touting.
Megatron doesnât like being compared to Optimus, whoâs about as centrist as it gets- Megatron is a radical if there ever was one, and heâs been fighting for his beliefs for the last four millions years, tooth and nail.
Not that these robots have nails.
Back in the old days, the Senate divvied up the populace by alt-mode, and whatever you turned into, that was your job. Personal taste, interest, and  talent werenât factors. Thatâs why Megatron worked in the mines- he wasnât allowed to do anything else. This is Functionism, another plot point that will be factoring into Phase 2 pretty heavily.
Optimus didnât really oppose Functionism at the time, seeing as he was a rather privileged individual, and also a cop back in the day. Everyoneâs a frigginâ cop in this continuity.
But enough about systemic oppression of the masses, itâs time to reminisce on the good old days- also known as every single time Optimus and Megatron have ever tried to kill each other. Itâs a lot. Like, a lot. And then they have a good laugh about it.
This isnât a healthy response to stress, you two. Someone throw Rung in there and lock the door for a couple weeks.
Optimus says that he wants to end the war. All Megatron has to say is that he wants it too, and itâll end. Megatron doesnât say anything to that. Optimus still hasnât figured out just why Megatron surrendered, but it looks like timeâs up, and he strings Megatron back up and exits the room.
Later, Autobot High Command is having a meeting, with Bumblebee, Ultra Magnus and Prowl having telecommed in. Itâs an emergency meeting, over the complicated legality of Megatronâs trial. Since the Galactic Council isnât returning their calls, they donât have any sort of neutral third party to run this thing, and the Autobots canât just hand out sentencing themselves, because they have a natural bias. Magnus suggests they give Chief Justice Tyrest a ring, seeing as heâs considered a neutral by the Galactic Council.
Thereâs another part to this issue though; because of the nature of this case, the prosecution gets to decide Megatronâs punishment, should he be found guilty. They start putting it to a vote, but Optimus says that itâs his decision since Megatron has been his responsibility for the last few million years, completely cutting Bumblebee out.
Yâknow, Bumblebee. The current appointed leader of the Autobots.
Why do we even bother having elections, if Optimus is just going to pull this whenever itâs convenient?
Then Rodimus calls Optimus out on being potentially compromised, since he listened in on his little chat with Megatron. Optimus reacts to this about as well as he can.
That is to say, not at all.
Back in the past, itâs time for some good old-fashioned police brutality.
How in the hell do you even punch someone when the closest thing you can make to a fist is more akin to a torpedo in shape? I guess only Whirl knows.
Whirlâs decided that heâll be killing Megatron for his two little buddies, and he almost gets to it before Springarm busts in and stops him. Megatronâs being released, on the captainâs orders, because the captain went through Megatronâs things and read his writing, revealing himself to be a violenceless revolutionary.
Impactor, what the fuck.
The captain is Orion Pax, by the way.
In the present, Optimus is back in Megatronâs room, because that will certainly help his case of being on the up and up. He wants to know why Megatron surrendered, and he wants to know NOW DAMMIT. Megatron asks him to rephrase the question, then goes full edgelord in an attempt to make Optimus react, because itâs the only way the two of them know how to interact at this point.
Megatron gets what he asks for, and Optimus realizes that perhaps attempting to murder his greatest rival minutes after having been revealed as a have a soft spot for the guy wasnât the greatest idea. He leaves the room before things can get more awkward.
He runs into Ironhide in the hallway, who asks how things are. Not great, Ironhide. Not great. Optimus committed an act of violence on a bound man, thus feeding his hatred of authority figures.
In the past, Megatron finally corrects the etymology error everyoneâs been making with his name.
Because thatâs not a massive red flag right there.
Megatronâs free to go, and Springarm gives him his little journal back. Too bad Megatronâs been tainted by the á´á´á´Ąá´Ę á´ę° á´ ÉŞá´Ęá´É´á´á´ and doesnât nearly believe as much as he once did in the power of the written word. He tosses his writing away, causing his first incident of property damage and foreshadowing his future.
Thatâs the end of the comic, but not the end of the issue. In the back of the book is a little blurb welcoming Roberts to the writing chair and calling him out as a bit of a dork, then a sign-off from Andy Schmidt as Senior Editor of IDW, which also calls him out as a bit of a dork.
So thatâs the start of the Chaos storyline. Lots of setup here, both for Chaos and things further down the line. This is a sharp left turn from how the prior issues of this series have gone. Itâs not just people punching one another in the face. Iâm getting a feeling that character motivation is lurking in the wings here.

mdzs read diary part IV, the end
Itâs inspiring how much self care wwx is gonna finally get now that his husband will go along with whatever he does, so heâs gotta look out for lwjâs well being if not his own. that is emphatically the STUFF
dragging my hands down I face as I read this, after all these chapters of getting up close and personal with ghouls bleeding from every orifice, slaying ancient beasts, rebelling against the entire cultivation world, the two of them are absolutely paralyzed by middle school crush sleepover math
chicken
he actually drew kissy doodles .... he....
IDK I THINK I JUST DOCUMENTED THIS PART CUZ I WAS STILL SCREAMING you cant expect me to have very useful things to say at this point
this is torture you are both so mushy you are so GONE
This part really stood out to me, itâs an attitude I feel like wwx implies with his inner narration a few times but most clearly says here: heâs not one for allowing himself to exaggerate how bad his circumstances are/could be even a little bit - heâs already lived through some extreme low points and found a way to keep going, so he never makes sweeping statements about what he couldnât live without (Inner JingYi: youâre supposed to say youâd be lost without him here!!!) Instead he seems to accept as a given that being alive doesnât guarantee him any pleasantness or joy at all, and as a result his feelings toward being in TRUE LOVE are surprisingly pragmatic, but also colored with such gratitude. There are a lot of things in the novel that struck me, like this, as being just a little to the left of familiar tropes/sentiments, and were more touching for it. Whether it be the influence of culture difference as opposed to what Iâm used to reading in most western romance stories, or MXTXâs unique outlook, or a combination of both, it was really refreshing and made me pause over it. Not âI canât imagine living without youâ but âI could be living without you, but instead I get to be with you and I think thatâs the best thing that could happen.â
ADJFDKFJ THE UST BEING SO STRONG THAT EVEN THE VILLAIN COMMENTS ON IT IN THE MIDDLE OF EXECUTING HIS EVIL PLANS IS ONE OF THOSE THINGS THAT WILL NEVER FAIL TO MAKE ME LAUGH MY ASS OFF. hes like god damn! here I thought I had problems
it was at this moment that I realized we were doing this Now... Iâm still recovering. What a scene. I am so glad I saw the most incredible fanart soon afterwards, bc the fact that someone has already drawn a perfect comic of this part means I donât have to
I love you so much, you are so annoying, you are perfect... I like how heâs been experiencing openly requited love for all of ten minutes but heâs already figured out how to weaponize it to piss people off
doing!!! his!!! job!!!!!
ahh... itâs a really good story. JGY is a great character. One of the most interesting differences for me between drama watching vs. novel reading experience is that without an actor to bat his vulnerable doe eyes at you and smile faintly with his cute dimples, the book does not go much out of its way to try to lull the reader into a false sense of security around him or *endear* him to you the way the show does. But just by seeing events through wei wuxianâs POV, its still enough to evoke pity or understanding towards him. The overall impression is a bit more detached though, thereâs less emphasis on the spectacle of how he could manipulate everyone closest to him and more of a general feeling of resigned tragedy that everyones the worst on this bitch of an earth.
I CANNOT DEAL WITH YOU FOR EVEN ONE MORE SECOND!!!!
I clearly paused to take note of less and less parts at the end & the extras due to: a) too excited to reach the end b) too spicy to photograph and c) too sleepy cuz I kept reading in the middle of the night. but I absolutely took the time for Bro We Are Teens appreciation corner:
Iâd absolutely read 40 more extra chapters of their monster-of-the-week field trip antics.
god... poor Jin Ling now basically has to deal with divorced parents that talk shit about each other to him whenever he is saying with one of them. except they are both his uncles. just a disasterhood of all uncles from start to finish. AUUUGH wei wuxian and jiang cheng have fucked me up completely, I dream of them reconciling but I also REFUSE to believe it would ever be easy. let me know if theres a fanfic that absolutely tortures you for decades before they hug
HAHAHA oh no this man ainât making it to immortality thats for damn sure. HEâS JUST GONNA TRY AS HARD AS HE CAN HIS WHOLE LIFE NOT TO LOOK AT HIM BUT THEYRE *MARRIED* SDLKFJSF ohhhh itâs too funny, like... the mundane domestic family drama IN the fantastical swords and sorcery setting is what really ratchets up these things from amusing to fucking hilarious I think
aaaa the end... final random thoughts? No not final, I would like to please keep discussing at length and exhaustively, all the time please - CQL has gotta be one of the best TV adaptations Iâve seen. ANY adaptation of anything would be lucky to be so good!! reading the novel has just made me appreciate it even more.
- I donât think I can do justice to what I find most fascinating about comparing the two versions briefly, to do that I need to get drunk and ramble at my friends for hours but... the condensed version is something like this. Really all the significant differences between the two versions (besides the ones which can be attributed to censorship and therefore arenât worth discussing) are a side effect of the structure of how the story is told - thereâs barely anything changed arbitrarily. Aside from having a cold opening, the drama sticks to a very linear version of the story, and I think for a TV show or film, thatâs probably the best way to do it. We see everything, we get shocked and tricked and betrayed and surprised along with the characters, we feel the biggest impact at the climactic scenes having experienced all the build-up. The novel on the other hand is not only much more non-linear in WHEN we learn bits and pieces of information, but that information is also obfuscated under wei wuxianâs multiple layers of Unreliable Narratoritis, which are as follows: 1) difficulty remembering things because of personality/avoiding painful memories/actual memory loss, 2) No Homo Goggles still on, and 3) a wry sense of humor that makes the reader unsure of how much they can trust his attitude toward things, especially near the beginning. The experience of reading is a puzzle the reader has to mentally piece together through all of the above listed camouflage, and the puzzle itself is a three-sided mystery: One - How Bad of a guy was Wei WuXian really, and how exactly did all the bad stuff in his life go down; Two - wangxian epic pride & prejudice gambits; Three - political murder mystery. (I love stories like this btw... though I fully admit Iâm glad I watched first this time bc it might have taken me a long time to tackle otherwise.) Because of this, where the drama wants to pull you in and submerge you in all the most potent emotional parts, the novel in direct contrast deliberately side-steps around these things and asks that you hurt yourself by filling in the blanks. In fact the more intense emotions and painful memories involved, whether it be his relationship with jiang yanli, his DEATH, the darkest days of war times etc, the more the novel evasively withholds details. I actually really like both styles of storytelling but each one is obviously way better suited to its medium. ANYWAY.... THATS BASICALLY WHERE MY BRAINS AT WHILE IM READING GAY SWORD WIZARD BOOKS
- The extras are so saturated with domestic married bliss that itâs a good thing I stopped taking pictures because Iâd just take a picture of every page. this is too much for me to take... I did jump the gun a few times and read a few fanfics while I was still mid-read of the book (I tried to hold out but alas I am mortal) and at one point after finishing I was like âwow what fic was it in where lwj says something cute and wwx kisses him in public but theyâre in the corner of the restaurant so no one really sees... OH NO WAIT that was actually in there.â and ... and thatâs the LEAST OF IT... *stares into the distance* theyre married wow
- I ofc couldnât help but see a few vague blogs beforehand so honestly I was braced for something like, wildly ooc for the sake of porn to happen in the extras... I definitely appreciate how the incense burner porn interludes could be uhhh a lot for many people and not my personal cup of tea in terms of smut however [here follows the words of a poisonous frog who has dwelt her whole life in the rainforests of BL] the concept is also surprisingly SWEET SDFLKJF like wwx sees lan wangjiâs darkest mixed-up violent teenage fantasies and heâs just like aww babe you had a crush on me!! just... good for them
- I swear Iâm not gonna rehash every cute married thing they do but wei wuxian grading papers in the tub........................rEALLY GOT ME
- I want to Draw - ok thats enough if I keep going Iâll just write âwei wuxian grading papers in the tubâ seven more times probably

Fawley Family - History, Head-canons, and other stuff
Iâve been delaying this post for far too long, so letâs talk about the Fawleys. This will not be canon to Remembrance, (Though I might mention spoilers from the fic, so be warned.) as Iâm working on a Ravenclaw AU for Luca (Spelled âLukaâ in this timeline.) that is as of yet going to remain unfinished because I want to know the full story of HPHM before I finish it - Mainly concerning Rakepick and R.
PoliticsÂ
So, The Fawleys are part of the Sacred Twenty-Eight. Iâm inclined to think they donât really care about their status in the Pureblood Directory, even though itâs an inherently racist document. As opposed to the Malfoys, who pride themselves on their inclusion, and the Weasleys, who canât stand that they were put in. The Fawleys have never properly declared for one side of history or another. They never supported the Death Eaters, but they also didnât join the Order of the Phoenix. Theyâve never been hostile or dismissive to muggles, but they also mingle with the more racist pure-blood families. They keep their options open, and as a result, most people tend to enjoy their company, but donât fully trust them. It helped that they were usually sorted into Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff, and were therefore able to keep out of the school-age rivalry between the Lions and the Snakes.
Reputation
Of course, The Fawleys arenât entirely popular either. People tend to avoid them in general, particularly if theyâre superstitious and believe in things like the Grimm. This is because, for countless generations, The Fawley Family has been...well, thereâs no simpler way to put it, than horribly unlucky. Misfortune seems to follow them wherever they go. It doesnât usually affect those close to them too directly, although it can. Fawleys are known for madness, as a great number of them go off the deep end over time, even if there were no warnings signs. Far too many have committed suicide. The history of this family is a trail of blood and tears. People have noticed over time, and rumors grew that the family is cursed...and they actually are not wrong. A curse does indeed live in the blood of the Fawleys, and is unfortunately passed down genetically. It doesnât strictly cause bad luck or anything, but the rumors are still true.Â
Lineage
Being one of the oldest pure-blood families in the U.K, they can trace their heritage back hundreds of years. The oldest notes about the family tree suggest that the children of Merlin and Morgan Le Fay, were in fact the Fawleyâs original ancestors. There is no way to verify this, of course, and unlike some of the more pompous Wizarding families, they see no need to parade it or make any claims. If itâs true, great. If not, whatever. (In my head, this rumor is definitely true, but it doesnât change much about them either way. Itâs just fun to think about.) On the other hand, it seems to be fact that many generations of the Fawleys were hunters who lived in the woodland and caught their food, sometimes doing odd jobs for hire - this is where the name Fawley (roughly translating to âfowlâ) comes from.Â
Signature
Several pure-blood families have some kind of motto or sigil. The Malfoys and the Blacks both have a crest, and the Fawleys do too. You might be expecting a bird, but this is not the case. During the War of the Roses, the Yorkshire muggles received some unexpected help from mysterious advisors, who became infamous for their abilities to control people and arrange the deaths of enemy soldiers before they even set foot in battle. Many were grateful for the aid, others voiced doubt, fearing and mistrusting the advisors. They seemed to vanish after the wars ended, having earned the nickname, âThe Black Roses.â Sometimes derisively, sometimes approvingly, depending upon who was asked. Within the Wizarding community, however, the Fawleys never hid that they and some of their closest friends had been the Black Roses. It became their symbol.
DarknessÂ
As stated, the Fawleys have never been Anti-Muggle, not have they favored blood supremacy. But whether or not they stand against the Dark Arts tends to vary between the generations - the Black Roses definitely used dark magic in their efforts, for example. Rarely do any of them go full-out and cross to the dark side. Most of them favor unicorn wands. Rarely do any of them turn completely evil. But a wizard who can employ both light and dark magic is a versatile one, which is advantageous in multiple ways, particularly when it comes to exploring magic itself. What is consistent across centuries of the family is that they like to experiment, they push the study of magic to itâs limits. Some of them became spell inventors. Others travel all over the world in pursuit of greater powers and secrets. More than once, a Fawley has gone off the grid and simply disappeared, never to be heard from again.Â
Friendships
The Sacred Twenty-Eight is composed of the core families that often inter-marry, either due to coincidence or to intentionally keep the blood pure. In the Fawleys case, it was the former. There was no rule about avoiding marriages to Half-bloods and Muggles, and sometimes these would even happen - but the number of premature deaths that occurred in this family unfortunately cut off any branches that might have formed. Most consistently, the Fawleys seemed to associate with the Burkes, the Greengrassâs, and especially the Blacks. They had a consistent, ongoing friendship and occasional rivalry with the Black family. They would explore the boundaries of magic together. Sometimes they would be mortal enemies, at others they would protect each other. Many Fawley-Black marriages occurred, and present day, Tonks is distantly related to Luka and Gail.Â
AbilitiesÂ
The Fawleys have frequently become Healers and either worked at St. Mungos or started smaller practices and apothecaries of their own. Some say this tendency to heal is born of the anguish the family regularly faces. After all, many say the kindest people are those who have suffered the most. Others say that learning these skills became a necessity with how many tragedies there were. But regardless, they usually have talent in the Healing Arts. Typically a Fawley will be gifted in either Charms, Potions, Herbology, or some combination of the three. They are also natural fliers, despite having little interest in Quidditch itself, most of them know their way around a broom. On an unrelated note, I like to imagine the Fawleys, ever-neutral, generally keep themselves out of Quidditch culture, but would be fans of the Montrose Magpies. Finally, we know from canon that MC and Jacob are Legilimensâ, so Iâd say natural talent toward this magic runs in the family.
HomeÂ
In the Remembrance timeline, the Fawleys live in a small cottage off the coast of a place called Dulcimer Beach, always cloudy and with black sands. However, I like to imagine that at least one branch of the Fawley family grew up in Godricâs Hollow, perhaps just outside the cemetery. I donât know, thereâs something about growing up literally next to a graveyard, that kinda suits them in my opinion. Plus. the whole idea of them being nearby when James and Lily died, even if they werenât at all connected to it. Not sure where Iâll put the twins in the AU, I might have each of them in one of these two places. All I know is, they have a garden with a bed of black roses, that have magical properties and are used in their potion making.Â
The Curse
If the Fawleys have one fatal flaw, that is consistent across the vast majority of them...itâs curiosity. This is why theyâre usually in Ravenclaw. Itâs why Jacob went after the vaults. They donât thirst for knowledge but when presented with the idea of a secret they donât know...they want to know it. This family has done terrible things over the years in their journey to learn the darkest secrets imaginable. They donât crave power, they just want to see how powerful they can actually become. While they often use that power for good...it always comes with a price. The Curse...was their own doing. Despite spreading rumors that it was the Fault of the Blacks, the Fawleys placed the curse in their blood on themselves, centuries ago. Present day, the current inheritors of the curse donât even know this to be true.Â
HeirloomsÂ
Just one. A set of thick, fur-lined robes that are white and lined with black, as well as having a black rose emblazoned on the side, usually concealed when the robes are bundled up. Supposedly, these belonged to one of the âBlack Rosesâ but thereâs no way to know if thatâs true. They could have been made years later, as a simple reference. But Lukaâs father Arik had them, and his father before him. Other than that...I suppose there is the Wizardâs Chess set that they have? But itâs only a couple of generations old.Â
The Cabal
Iâll get straight to the point. No matter what R winds up being, no matter who they are or what they want, my personal theory or head-canon is that MCâs family has been connected to them, or at least to the Cursed Vaults, for longer than we initially thought. That Jacob and MC being sought out by them was no accident or coincidence. I believe the Fawleys are deeply involved with the Cabal, and have been all along, perhaps going back many generations. Perhaps Dumbledore or the Aurors already know this, and simply keep it from MC. This could also play in to how they never sided with the Death Eaters or The Order - they already had a faction they had pledged loyalty to.Â
MiscellaneousÂ
Iâve always pictured them as Iranian, at least for the past several generations. I also think having twins is not unusual for them, since it seems to happen more consistently in certain families. However, still-born babies and miscarriages, not to mention infertility, are all the more common. As for family traits, I see the Fawleys typically having large dark brown eyes, thicker, longer hair, and smaller, button-like noses. Luka is lactose intolerant, Gail is dyslexic. As I alluded to, they love Wizardâs Chess and probably donât like Gobstones very much. They generally donât believe in superstitions and many will claim the Fawley Curse is a hoax, even if they know this not to be true. I also have always imagined them as being Jewish, and if I ever write a reboot fanfic of the Ravenclaw AU, Iâd like to incorporate that into the story more.Â
Damn if you actually read all of my nonsense you deserve a cookie âşď¸ If there are any questions about the Fawleys or head-canons for your own OC's family, please share them!
