thinking abt that christmas special again. janus showing up already completely drunk is so. like. okay imagine you're being forced to go to an event you see no point in with people you know hate you, people who have consistently hated you for several decades, including someone you used to have a genuine connection with before they essentially abandoned you in favor of being accepted by the aforementioned people that hate you. all of that, and you have to face the man who's the literal reason for your existence, your one purpose in life, the reason you do everything you do, the person you're trying to protect above all else. and he hates you too. or at least he did, up until very, very recently, when he suddenly started validating your existence, most definitely leading to a lot of unresolved and pent up feelings being released all at once.

like yeah no i genuinely do not think she would've been able to handle that entire situation without some alcohol.

I love Sanders Sides Au's where Virgil swaps introduction wise with either Janus or Remus because when Janus and Remus were introduced in season two, Thomas was so genuinely surprised and shaken, (though he has kinda calmed down around Janus, and he hasn't had enough cannon interactions yet with Remus) and like worried about them. But when Virgil first showed up in season one Thomas was just like "Dear god, this bitch again?" like he wasn't threatened at all

and I just think its funny that if Remus had showed up in season one instead of season two, instead of being generally feared and have Thomas be confused by him. Thomas would have just been slightly annoyed and gotten rid of him in five fucking minutes, please tell you find this as funny as I do

janus' major character flaw isn't being selfish or amoral or whatever, it's being overprotective of thomas. probably because he's the last line of defense between potentially harmful information and thomas' conscious mind. that's what he's overprotective of: thomas' peace of mind. he keeps away everything disturbing, everything scary or uncomfortable, and assures thomas that everything is fine, even when it isn't. when thomas is mentally at his lowest, it's completely up to janus to stand up for him and look after him, while the others are busy freaking out.

anyways i think no matter which side you ship janus with, he definitely calls them all "thomas" during sex at some point
