as far as stuff outside of canon goes, i think it really depends on how you want maxie characterized as a person. like, is he well-meaning and kind of stupid, or is he an ecofascist bent on hoenn expansionism? i'd start there.
Very important question to Maxie fans. If you have a headcanon for this, what do you think is his reason for uh. Wanting more land. Other than what's explained in canon.

#just me rambling#tbh. my reborn ocs are the only one who ''fully'' fleshed out#Kayne original from Hoenn and their main purpose to go to Reborn was to study these new field effects#Neo (who i considering to change name because there are suprisingly many ocs has Neo name XD)-#was originally from Reborn but moved to Alola after the region got into chaos#then back to Reborn because the Aether president order him to look for rouge scientist that secretly works on Type:null#and then order him to stop the PULSE inventions#Evelyn is one of the orphanage from Sigmund place#she ran away before Lin did and joined team Meteor then leave the team after learning about what happened to Ace#rejuv OCs are like...different cans of worms#because rejuv lores are wild#all ocs are from different worlds that ''stumble'' into this one specific dimension#one OC is hinted to be Ariana who lost her memory because she felt into a Dimensional Rift when running away from the Nihilego#one is an high-ranking scientist of Garufa who got killed by Variya but their soul somehow ''get'' rescued by their Dusknoir and the pokemo#thought it would be safer to literally transfer its trainer soul to different universe#one is related to my other Reborn OC. who...has the most normal background compared to other rejuv ocs#there is also another rejuv oc that...has two versions of themselves#one is specifically made for renegade route and to be the pain in everyone ass

Been reliving my childhood playing pokemon emerald and I am loving every minute of it . It was my first hand held pokemon game and it places a special place in my heart <3
I loved my little Swampert so much and just getting to replay emerald and have him on my team just makes me happy <3

following up an earlier post with some more thoughts on religion and mythology in my pokemon fanfiction.
in hoenn, legend has it humans and pokemon were made out of an uneven mix of earth and water, the same makeup as the planet. when they die they're buried or buried at sea to return that material to its source. cemetaries are often also gardens, and some folks living out in the country may forego a community cemetery to bury their loved one in their garden. it's taboo to disturb a burial place or dig up a garden.
may thinks this is strange because she's johtoni, originally from blackthorn, and according to their traditions bodies are burned to release the soul to ho-oh for safekeeping so they can be reincarnated. burying a body traps the soul outside of ho-oh's domain.

i'm using these as building blocks where they can easily be switched up tbh. none of these are set in stone. i say this cause i always forget how many hoenn pokemon i like and i was torn on some of these. milotic may get replaced with walrein cause i love those two pokemon about equally... depends on which ones translate well into anthro designs i like
#for this one im thinking about a sins of the father approach. bc i love sins of the father stories (starfall is kinda one if you squint)#so im thinkingggg that sceptile's dad was the professor (so trading places with the rival) and that professor did some screwed up shit#im not sure what they did. maybe they caused damage to the ocean in some way and that caused the team aqua stuff?#but idk how much i wanna extend that beyond aqua vs magma#(btw either aqua will the the main antagonists or itll be an emerald situation where they both are)#i know i wanna include elements of both games in each gen so probably the latter#hmmmm maybe ill actually move that to kalos... getting some Ideas for Kalos actually..........#ok. so the theme of hoenn regardless is environmentalism obviously. how do you treat mother nature.#now that pokemon are anthros and occupy different ecosystems as is. how do they treat the environment? how do they adapt?#which is why i wanted sceptile here. besides that i like sceptile the most of the hoenn starters#not associated with aqua or magma (ik magma is ground but lets pretend the fires there. i consider them a ground/fire team)#echoed voice#anthro au
