Meanwhile he's standing there like 🧍‍♂️"am I that ugly."

Give me a scene where, finally used to this reaction to him from the general shinobi population, the team starts to use it to their advantage.

• So like. Itachi is the clan heir. That's big. That's important. Let's do something with that.

First off, I had a great time reading this one fic (tho I don't even remember what the fic itself was about now, oops) where a plot point of it was how Sasuke is just a walking stereotype of main house Uchiha. Like people look at him and they don't just go "oh that's an Uchiha." They go "oh fuck that's an UCHIHA Uchiha." He's so fucking painfully, obviously related to the very tippy top of the clan that anyone not blind can tell. It's in the way he looks, it's in the way he talks and treats those around him, it's in the way he fucking holds himself. You look at him and every other stereotype about the Uchiha clan is there in big, bold letters. (On top of that he's also a dead wringer for Izuna, which I'm such a sucker for and desperatley wish people would do more with)

So like let's give that to Itachi here because it's so fun for several reasons.

First off; Sasuke in this is like. Straight up a doppelganger of Izuna, just a few generations apart. They could be twins. Itachi, as I'm sure you are aware, is Sasuke's big brother. So let's take some liberties and say that Itachi could absoloutley pass as a blood sibling to Izuna and Madara.

He is however 12, so we're also going to say that the only people who get to make this connection is anyone who's seen the siblings when they were also at a similar age.

On top of that however he has the 'walking amalgamation of all the stereotypes of the main Uchiha house' so anyone who isn't blind will look at him and assume he's somewhere in the sphere of 'important main house person' tho who really knows how distant the relation may be exactly. No one !! That's who !!!

Second; He's the fucking clan heir!! What the fuck!! This bit would have the most impact after all the messy time travel reveals when things have settled down a bit, so it'll sit in the back pocket for a bit. Save it for some fun shaking up later down the line so we don't run out of all the fun reveals too fast and bore the readers, yk?

When it is brought up tho it'd be fun to maybe have some fucky Itachi and Madara mutual understandings of the way things work.

• So. Madara is like a bit of a scary bed time story to Uchiha children, right? Like. "Ooo make sure you don't get too obsessive or fall too deep into your grief and always stay loyal to the village or you'll end up just like Madara!!"

Something something Uchiha-Village relationships are tense as hell, something something Madara fucking over a lot of the clan with his whole. Everything., Something something scapegoat and old stories, something something 'people have probably been talking a lot more about how "god dammit this all started with Madara" in recent years.'

Now with that in mind let's take a look of what our time travelers think of Madara:

Itachi is a good Konoha soldier. Itachi (as has been very much fucking proven) would rather beat a possible problem before it even exists with a hammer till it dies an ugly bloody death than even RISK it blossoming into a proper problem. Itachi does not like Madara. Itachi personally, quietly thinks they should maybe wait till the village is formed then carefully arrange a little accident for him before he goes off the rails. He, even more quietly, maybe even thinks it would be a kindness. Allow him to be remembered well by the village instead of scorned.

Shisui I think is cautiously optimistic about him. He's the kind of guy who gives the benefit of the doubt, who weighs the options, risk and reward, but includes things like hope and compassion in his calculations. Yes, Madara was a uhh. Thing. That happened. But in every story his big blow up always come from one specific event; Izuna's death. So if they stop that from happening, wouldn't it secure both a better future for them and Madara? The history books never went into detail about Izuna, he doesn't know what he's like, but maybe his involvement in the future, on Konoha's side, could lead to even more profits for them long term. At the end of the day he's not against killing Madara (though to be clear, they are at first operating on trying to avoid all interactions with historical events and return home without touching things) but it'd be nice, to manage to get a happy ending for everyone. Unrealistic maybe, but nice.

Mmmm hear me out actually, maybe Shisui, after interacting with him a bit, finds that Madara reminds him of Itachi too. They definatley both have that "I would do unspeakable things to even dream of my loved just one more time" energy, if you know what I mean

Anyways; Kakashi and Tenzo are both neutral on Madara. Yes, they learned about how he betrayed the village when young just like everyone else, but they weren't getting the bed time stories and "do this and you'll end up just like him" warnings like the Uchiha's. They're possibly leaning into negative but are detached from the situation enough to just go "well he hasn't done it yet and his brother is still alive so he won't any time soon" and be done with it

• Now, on the the total opposite side of the spectrum you have Hashirama and Tobirama. People are brought up in Konoha to fucking IDOLIZE these guys. You can not tell me our team of time travelers wouldn't be at least a little awed to speak with them.

I think Tenzo would be the most wide eyed about Hashirama, both for the baseline "holy shit that's the Shodai Hokage" and also that fun juicy mokuton user imposter syndrome he has going on for him. That guys DNA is inside his body!!! Holy shit wait does that mean if someone did a blood relation test with them he might read as being related to him?? Fuck were gonna pocket that for now but like. Mmmmm potential.

I'd say Itachi is the most hesitant about Tobirama but again, village loyalist, so.

You know what tho maybe Shisui is the most hesitant about him (though still largely positive) he both def grew up looking up to him but can also see the anti-Uchiha policies people inact now with the implications that Tobirama would have approved of it. He doesn't know if he would, but like, he has to wonder.

Kakashi is probably the most normal about them (and also has experience in being close to a hokage (Minato) to know that at the end of the day they are painfully human) Don't get me wrong, he's still in some sort of awe! He might get a little lightheaded at the thought of seeing the God of Shinobi in proper battle, or the possibility to see the famed genius of Tobirama with all the different jutsu's he's invented. You can't tell me Kakashi didn't spend a little extra time reading about him when he was trying to make Chidori. Honestly I'm gonna roll with that and say he had a bit of a phase as a kid where he was a total fan boy. Maybe sprinkle in the good old HalfHatake!Tobirama hc to add some faint daydreams a lonley babykashi had after his father's death, about getting to meet him as family. Like cmon, little genius idolizing and projecting on some big history figure only to find out they're actually related? Can you say potential?

Anyways he did eventually grow out of the phase, probably got unattached to it all and lost interest after the whole "losing everything he loved" bit of his life. And at the end of the day, he doesn't have any real complex personal hang ups on the founders like the others do. Thus, most normal.

• And then my favorite most special boy, Izuna !! He's for sure the one they're all most neutral about. He's not actually taught about in the academy? There's probably some throw away line about him in some history books somewhere, but he died young and was quickly buried by the looming shadow of Konoha. The only real knowledge had about him in modern times is just a vague "Yeah he got killed by Tobirama which lead to peace being made but also lead to Madara losing his shit"

Poor Izuna he's the linchpin for it all but was left an unremarkable footnote of history. My boy deserves so much better

Tenzo doesn't actually even know who he is, that boy got bare minimum education under Danzo and Izuna was NOT included.

Itachi and Shisui mmmaybe have some small little fun fact here or there buried in stories from the older members of the clans but like. It's gonna amount to just "yeah he had a great katon" and thats about it.

I WILL SAY HOWEVER. Itachi sees him and instantly is that one PTSD dog meme. Sasuke is a BABY but holy shit Izuna looks exactly like he'd expect him to grow up as and it's making him FEEL THINGS. Also he's so bratty little brother coded !! He's an entire 7 years older than Itachi but Ifachi keeps fucking up and trying to big brother him it's embaressing.

And ofc Itachi didn't go into the first meeting thinking he'd see some weird older mirror version of his beloved baby brother who he misses and worries about very very much. So like. There's for sure going to be some conflict there. If their first meeting is a scuffle (which it probably will be) I think Itachi would keep hesitating to attack. On full run away mode. Which is probably for the best bc he shouldn't try to fight Izuna anyways honey he's like double your bodyweight and you're strong but you aren't THAT strong.

• Pointing back at both the 'Itachi does not like Madara and has quiet thoughts about how it'd possibly be in everyone's interest to just kill him' and the 'Itachi and Madara quietly bond over being clain head/heir during stressful times (w pressure from the elders especially)

I can see 2 outcomes of a potential bonding conversation with them:

1) They come to understand eachother better.

Madara wants to be on good terms, he looks at this kid and sees one of his brothers eyes and the others quiet determination. He can tell Itachi doesn't like him for some reason, and it's frustrating because he doesn't know why. He wants him to like him. He wants to be able to offer his hand and have it taken. It hurts, to be looked at with such suspicion from a face that has traces of Izuna's.

Meanwhile Itachi . . . Itachi looks at Madara and he sees someone who gets it. Gets it like no one ever has. It scares him. He looks up at this man, this horror story he's been told to fear becoming, and he sees himself. And this realization shakes him. It makes him think, makes him wonder. He's so, so sure of his loyalty to Konoha. More sure than he is of anything else in the world. But . . . But if something happened to Sasuke, if he had to choose—

And maybe it softens something in him too, along with the (honestly healthy) dose of fear. It forms a little crack in his shell, just enough to maybe, maybe let Madara through. Just a hair.

Or 2) we pull one of those "The conversation ends with them agreeing verbally but mentally they're on 2 VERY different notes."

Madara, nodding and looking at Itachi meaningfully: "Yeah it can be hard, but all we can really do is try to make the world a safer place for the ones we love. (To create Konoha, to keep my clan safe. Izuna safe. And now to keep you safe too.)

Itachi, nodding slowly: "Yeah. No matter how hard it is (even though I think I understand you more than anyone else Ive ever met) we have to try to make the world a safer place (by killing you in your sleep once Konoha is formed) for the ones we love (My clan. My village. Sasuke.)"

• Also pointing back at the 'Hatake warring clan era reputation,' the 'Tobirama is half Hatake' and also now pointing at Tobirama's title as the White Demon. Small thing but it'd be neat if there was some small throw away line that the nickname lowkey started in part because of the absoloutley terrifying reputation of the Hatake combined with Tobirama's own Everything(tm) like it just had some influence on how some view him. Give me Uchiha's making dog jokes ab him it'll be funny

• Ok but now the actual plot thoughts. Yeah I know I kept you waiting sorry about that.

So time travel! Probably due to a mission gone wrong. Some ruins or some ancient crumbling scroll that wasn't even supposed to do fucking time travel but was so old and corroded that it somehow managed to transform into a whole other seal by pure bad luck. Or good luck I guess, considering it could have just turned into a nuke.

Our favorite team of disasters are very very alarmed !!! What the fuck !!! Obviously they don't default to thinking time travel, but they immediatley know something is wrong. The landscape has changed, though the big landmarks are still there. The mission was complete anyways with no injuries so they just retreat to Konoha. Only oops !! It's not fucking there!!!

Queue alarm.

Shisui is the first one to suggest time travel because he's quirky like that. And there's a very easy way to confirm this theory.

(Also we're going to say that Konoha's location is a valley a few miles out from the Naka River that borders the Senju / Uchiha territories.)

This is convenient because that verification method involves checking in on where Itachi and Shisui know the old Uchiha compound should rest.

They do it in full stealth mode, the second they saw Konoha was missing Kakashi as team leader decided they'd treat the land as enemy territory. They all agreed ofc, for all they knew this WAS enemy territory now.

And, ofc, yeah!! There's the old Uchiha compound!! Being active!!! There are people there!!!

"What are the odds Fugaku-sama decided to have the clan return to their homeland for ahh, cultural enrichment?" Kakashi asked weakly.

"Time travel." Was the only reply he got from Shisui, whispered reverently as the boy vibrated with excitement on the branch.

Itachi just gave him a look, radiating a level of dissaproving disbelief that no normal 12 year old should be able to make. Kakashi would know, he was that not-normal 12 year old once.

From there they decide a no interference policy. Hands off guys!! They probably debate it tho, like, a good amount. They all have ✨️opinions✨️ except maybe Tenzo who's lowkey still in the middle of trying to learn how to be a person and is following Kakashi's lead 99% of the time. Especially since they're still in mission mode and this is like a super serious discussion and he really does know the least ab the founders overall.

They probably debate the merits of going to Uzushiogakure bc seal help but it's really far and they don't actually have like, just any leverage with them. They already decided not to fuck with the future so it isn't like they can trade secrets and warnings. At least if shit happens here they have some plausible deniability, being, yk, 2 uchiha's and a senju-passing guy with Mokuton. Kakashi's kinda fucked tho in that regard but he isn't going to be doing the party ANY favors with his clan heritage.

Which means it's time to potentially get desperate enough to interact with Tobirama !!! Which will inevitably lead to them bumping into a Uchiha patrol or something!!! I don't know honestly

• Anyways want Hashirama and Tenzo to interact. He has so many issues like holy shit. Let Hashirama give him the hug he deserves. I want him to violently adopt him. New brother acquired!!!

I said before but Tenzo is still reprogramming from ROOT. Let Hashirama impact that! Let him help! They can make flower crowns and photosynthesize together idk

Tenzo or Shisui couldn't take down Izuna or Tobirama but if they teamed up I'd allow it. Kakashi would get his ass kicked by Hashirama or Madara but he could survive a minutes longer than the others would

I love him and he is terrifyingly competent but he won't win 1 on 1 with anyone unless he has some sort of advantage. Minus Shisui and Tenzo who he does have the advantage of regularly fighting, so.

• I think they do get to go back home in the end. It takes a ton of work tho and they probably do need to get Mito's help with it, Kakashi can show them the seal they got brought here with but it's an ACTUAL one in a trillion miracle it didn't fucking atomize them. So it needs a lot of touch ups

Alright, here are my thoughts/theories:

We know photos are one of N's love languages, and she communicates through them. L WAS NEVER GOING TO BE POSTING A BUNCH OF PICS OF N ON HIS GRID RN. For LOTS of different reasons. However, these type of pics started popping up at the end of April, which is when the WT really started picking up. I think N was using these types of pics to communicate with us on her feelings for L, and how she sees him. She wanted us to see him through HER lens (if that makes sense). These photos signal trust, comfort, love, joy, silliness, safety, connectedness/intimacy etc. Regardless of the public optics of what was going on, N wanted us to know that she and L have a very special connection 😍

She also doesn't have pics like this of ANYONE else on her grid this year (I haven't looked through her whole grid, so I don't know about posts from before this year, except that one of her and L after his play that blew up lol). Now yes, like I mentioned, a lot of the pics N has of L on her grid from this year is Bridgerton Season 3 promotional material, but there was something different about these photos. I have a lot of theories on why N decided to post these, but this is what I will say. I think these photos served as a message that things were changing for L/N BTS during the WT, and tbh, I think she wanted to show him off on her grid 😉 She just did it by hiding behind Polin and the tour, so there was plausible deniability.

I also found it VERY interesting that L seemed fine with N posting all these specific photos the last few months, but A could only post his freaking hand. interviewer: Amazing race today! How's the new car? Overall emotions for the new season? 

y/n: The car is so smooth, the McLaren team did such a great job with it this year. I'm so excited to be back and driving, and it feels really nice to finally get back on the track, y'know. Been training over the break and i feel like I'm ready for this season. 

interviewer: That's amazing. Seems like all that training paid off, huh? 

y/n: Always, I have the best personal trainers and the best support system within this team. It's what's kept me going for four seasons now. 

interviewer: And, speaking of, you have a new teammate this year. What's that like? How're you getting along with Lando Norris?

y/n: I'm always excited to see how I'm able to work with different types of people, and he's... different, to say the least. It'll take some time adjusting to our dynamic, but I hope we can work well together on the track. 

interviewer: The internet seems to be speculating some rivalry between you two. How do you think that'll impact your relationship on the track? 

y/n: There's not much to say honestly, I feel like he's just adjusting to this new team, as well as having a strong competitor.

Lando: Yeah, somewhat. 

interviewer: Fans seem ecstatic about you working with McLaren, especially y/n. Though, they seem to be wondering whether or not you're intimidated by her, because of the sudden rivalry between you two. 

Lando: I'm not intimidated by her at all, neither is she intimidated by me. I feel like there's a lot I could learn from her, maybe some strategies for a win, which is what I'm aiming for. 

No matter how many of them you attend, press conferences don't get any less stressful. 

You're sat in front of a room full of people with raised hands and cameras aimed at your face. To the left of you sits Max Verstappen, happily chatting away with you while your teammate, Lando, sits to the right of you. He has his arms crossed over his chest, brows knitted together in thought. 

"Okay, let's start," one of the interviewers begins when he's allowed by the manager of the conference. "Good to see you, Y/N, still in your champion pace. Can we expect that from you for the whole season?" 

From the corner of your eye, you see Lando quietly scoff, still with crossed arms and furrowed brows. "Uh," you avert your attention back to the question. "Yeah, I mean. I've been at this pace for four seasons now and I'm positive I can keep it up." 

Lando, once again, rudely scoffs.

Sure, you've been winning races left, right and centre, but that's been the case for your whole career at McLaren. Lando knew who he'd be competing against when he joined this team, so why is he being so childish? 

The next interviewer asks Lando about his experience with McLaren so far. "Well, I'd say it's been going well." 

"Do you think you will get some wins this season?" Another interviewer asks, annoying Lando with the question. 

"Absolutely," he answers, a hint of sarcasm in his tone. "I'm here to learn from the best and get more experience in racing." 

"I bet Y/N could teach you lots." The interviewer smiles at Lando, but he simply shakes his head. "Tha-" 

"I wasn't talking about Y/N," Lando cuts the interviewer off. "There's plenty more racers with more experience than her who I'm willing to learn from. Just 'cause she gets wins doesn't mean she's the best." 

Those words caused an awkward silence to settle in the room. Lando's eyes were on his watch and your eyes were on him. 

Max leans into a microphone, "Someone shat in Lando's cereal this morning, sorry. I'm pretty sure he meant that Y/N is far too advanced to teach at his level." 

The interviewers laugh at his joke and you turn to Max with a soft smile, he reciprocates the same. "Thank you." You whisper quietly enough for only Max to hear. 

The press conference continues as usual, except that Lando doesn't get any more questions. You and Max answer them all and cause the interviewers to laugh at your jokes all while your teammate sits there, bored out of his mind. 

You feel upset and very confused as to why Lando's being so rude to you. You've been letting him do his thing, never got in his way in the garage and barely engaged in conversation with him. 

Even when you did, he'd be snarky and reply using sarcasm most of the time. But this? This was new. He has never insulted your skills on the track, and you didn't even know he felt like that. 

You never considered yourself as 'the best' driver on the grid, and obviously there's people that are more experienced than you, but the way Lando expressed himself made you quite confused. 

You catch Lando in the McLaren lounge when he's alone and walk over to him. He's sat on the couch, scrolling on his phone when you approach him and tap his shoulder.

Lando turns his head to look at you. "What do you want?" 

"Can we talk?" 

Lando's brows furrow and he already looks annoyed. "About...?" 

"Why you're being a bitch to me." Your answer causes Lando's eyes to widen, yet his lips rise at the corners into a small smirk. 

"I'm not," he shrugs and goes back to scrolling on his phone. You roll your eyes and grab the phone out of his hands. "Wha-" 

"I don't know what exactly is wrong with you or why you're being a fucking cunt to me, but we're both part of the same team so act like it." The anger in your usually calm voice made Lando confused about whether he should feel threatened or turned on. 

You take a breath and continue speaking. "If this is about me winning races-" 

"It's not." He sharply cuts you off. You notice a hint of something in his voice, but choose to ignore it. 

"Then what the fuck is your problem?" You push further, noticing the slight smirk of his. 

"Nothing." Lando shrugs. "Can I have my phone back?" 

You roll your eyes, dropping it in his lap before turning around and walking as far away as him as possible. 

There were a lot of teammates you've had. All of them were so different from one another, but none of them were as insufferable as Lando Norris. 

There's something about him that irks you. Maybe it's his competitiveness, maybe it's him being younger than you by a few years but acting like he's still a middle schooler. 

Maybe it's the fact that he's good enough to beat you, soon.

Lando’s feeling… something. 

There’s some sort of deep-seeded feeling blooming in his chest when his eyes fall on your figure, standing in the McLaren garage and talking to some of the engineers. It’s part envy, part anger, part… attraction? No, can’t be. There’s no way he finds you attractive. 

There’s absolutely nothing about you that he could find attractive. Not a thing. 

Yet, despite ‘not being attracted to you at all’, his eyes are stuck on the way your face doesn’t change emotions when speaking. He can’t tell if you’re excited or bored. That intrigues him. The only time he saw emotion in your face was when you confronted him in the lounge. Maybe that’s when he started noticing you more. 

Maybe that’s when he started to grow a sort-of liking to you. 

Yeah. Lando’s screwed. 

He knows he’s more screwed when he’s so zoned into you, he doesn’t notice when your figure comes closer to him. 

You’re right in front of him when he snaps out of it. “You alright?” 

“Uh,” he looks down at you, slightly confused. Since when do you worry about his well-being? That’s kinda sweet, albeit odd. “Yeah? Why?” 

Lando watches as your shoulders rise with a shrug. “No reason.” He notices the small smirk playing on your lips as you turn your head and look at something. 

“Spit it out,” he rolls his eyes, despite being intrigued by you. 

You look back at him, biting your bottom lip to suppress your growing smirk. “Just wanted to make sure you’re ready to see the back of my car again.” 

And there it is. 

The cockiness never left your system, even after your little argument in the lounge. He notices the smirk now freely playing on your lips. Considering the fact that you’re usually rocking a resting bitch face, Lando found that quite cute, yet infuriating. “Wipe that smirk off your face before I do it for you.” 

Your eyes go wide and the smirk slowly dissolves at his words. “Right, uh. Good luck with the race.” You mumble and Lando can’t help but watch as you scurry away, with a small smirk on his face.

There’s a thin line between love and hate. 

You and Lando learnt that the hard way. All those insults and all the banter wasn’t because of some random hate for one another, but rather some sort of attraction. Lando was first to notice it. 

A month before summer break, he approached you and asked to talk. With no clue what could go right, you agreed and he took you to his racer room. 

You noticed that glint of something in his eye, that hesitance in his voice and the barely-visible shake of his hands. One odd thing after another couldn’t have prepared you for what he’d say next. 

“I wanted to ask if you’d like to go out to dinner sometime.” 

There was a tinge of hope to his voice, a shaky exhale following his question. You looked at him for a second, trying to find the moment he breaks out into a laughing fit for making you ‘hopeful.’ But he didn’t. And you felt bad, because you laughed at his question rather than accepting it, like you were going to. 

Before you could stop him, he was walking out the room with a pained look in his eyes. Something in your chest felt like it broke. You had run after him, but to no avail. He wouldn’t turn around no matter how much you called for him. 

A week later, everything felt like it went back to normal, or as normal as you and Lando’s relationship could get. He was back to bantering and you were back to teasing, and you wished him luck on the race he managed to win. 

Lando thinks you may be the good luck charm he needed. 

Sure, he’s been a bit of a dick, but it’s all because he was so confused about his feelings. That doesn’t excuse it at all and he knew that when he spoke to you the second time. 

The second time around, you didn’t laugh. You stood there, watching as he subconsciously tapped his fingers on the table as he sat on it, telling you his side of things. 

“I didn’t want to be a dick, but I didn’t know how to be nice without digging myself a hole I wouldn’t be able to climb out of.” He admits. 

You smiled at that. “Seems like you did that anyway.” 

Lando exhaled a breath he wasn’t aware he was holding in, a small chuckle escaping past his lips. “Yeah.” He bites his bottom lip to hide the small smile on his face. “So, uh. I’m sorry for all of that and I completely understand your reaction when I asked you out last time.” 

“You left before I could answer.” You pointed out, his ears perking up and eyes immediately locking onto yours as he anticipates whatever you say next. “I laughed because it seemed silly to hear something like that coming from *your lips. But now it makes sense, I guess.” 

“And…?” Lando urges. He’s as impatient as you knew he was and that made you smile a little. 

You walk up to where he sits on the desk, your hands coming up to flatten out the suit around his shoulders. “I’d love to go out to dinner with you, Norris.” 

So, you went out to dinner the following day. And then again the next day. And then, after about five dinner dates, Lando suggested you came over to his and he’d cook dinner for both of you.

That went as well as you’d expect it. But thankfully, Lando’s place is close to a pizza shop so you two ordered a delivery, laughing about Lando’s inability to cook for the rest of the night. 

When McLaren was closing up for the summer break, you, Lando, Daniel, Carlos, Max and Charles planned a trip to the prettiest beach you could find. 

Conveniently, you were assigned a plane seat next to Lando. He slept on your shoulder and you held his hand. But he wasn’t actually sleeping. How could he fall asleep, when your touch made his heart speed up faster than the car he races in? 

At the beach house, Daniel purposely planned out the rooms so you’d have to share with Lando. Charles was paired up with Carlos, Max was paired up with Daniel, so that meant that you were left with Lando. The best part? Neither of you minded. 

And guess what. The room you two had left was the master bedroom with one bed. Not much sleeping was done for the first two nights. 

Lando laid awake on the first night, as far to the left of the bed as possible while you laid comfortably on the right side. You were sound asleep, quiet snores falling from your parted lips. Lando watched as you slept, feeling like a creep, but also feeling so hopelessly in love. 

You woke up halfway through the night, Lando still awake but pretending to be asleep, just so he doesn’t seem like a total weirdo. Lando listened as you got up and made your way to the kitchen for a glass of water, grabbing his phone and pretending you woke him up. He heard the pitter patter of your feet and closed his eyes half-way, looking at his you with a squint. 

Even at four in the morning, you looked absolutely breathtaking. 

“Did I wake you?” You ask, when you set your glass down on the nightstand and sit back down in bed. Lando feels bad when he sees the apologetic look in your face. 

“No, I’ve been awake.” He admits, lying back down comfortably, as far away from you as he could be. 

You furrowed your brows at him. “Why are you so far away? Come here.” Your hand pats the middle of the bed and you scoot closer when he does. Lando’s hesitant, but when you lay your head on his chest, all the worries leave him. His arms wrap around you and finally, he falls asleep to the feeling of your soft breaths on his bare skin. 

The next night, neither of you could fall asleep. Mostly due to what happened during the day. 

You were at the beach and having fun with all of the guys. Lando was sat beside you, in front of you, Daniel was playing football with Max and the two Ferrari drivers were out to buy drinks for the evening. 

The sun was warming up your skin, tan-lines guaranteed to be seen when you get back inside. You were lying on your stomach and watching Lando as he watched you, a small smile on both of you’s faces.

It felt like the perfect moment. The moment.

Lando started leaning in and so did you, and the next thing you know, Daniel’s laughing at the ball landing beside you and leaving both of you sandy. 

Angry looks were shot Daniel’s way and he just shrugged, suggesting they all got into the water to wash the sand away. Lando immediately un-buttoned his shirt and dropped it on your beach towel. You did the same and ran after him into the water. 

You noticed that Daniel didn’t get into the water and that he grabbed his camera, for whatever reason. 

The water’s warm, salty, relaxing. Completely opposite your job, yet it made you miss it. Lando swims around you and when his hands creep to your waist, you wrap your arms around his neck. He doesn’t waste time and leans in, connecting his lips to yours. 

Daniel, of course, snaps a few pictures and sends them to Lando. And Lando posts one of them. And you’re not sure how to feel. Obviously, he didn’t point out that it’s you. He didn’t tag you, didn’t even say anything in the caption, but it made you uneasy. 

The picture you posted was just of your shadows, so no one could really tell who it could be, meanwhile Lando’s picture had a clear outline of you. And everyone under the post were pointing it out.

You didn’t tell Lando that it made you feel uncomfortable, and you didn’t need to. He knew. 

“Can we talk about it?” Lando turns to you, after what feels like eternity. You look at him. “I should’ve asked, I’m sorry.” 

“It’s fine.” You brush it off. You lay on Lando’s chest again and he wraps his arms around you. You don’t want to say that what irks you most is that he hasn’t asked you to be his girlfriend yet. 

Lando doesn’t want to rush it. He’s not sure how to act without ultimately screwing it all up. 

But, after Daniel urging him and Max bullying him for taking so long, Lando does ask you. 

The day before you fly back home, he sits you down and asks you to be his.

a small part of you had always thought the two of you would end up together. everyone joked about it, pope and john digging into him for carrying you home when you get too drunk or lost your shoes on the beach, kiara teasing you when she finds out jj slept over your place again.

It's funny, because at a first glance, Doppio seems like the type of guy that takes what he wants. He's never shied away from who he is and wears his heart on his sleeve; one of the many reasons you fell for him.

But he doesn't. You collab often with him and you can tell there's something unsaid between you two, or something more underneath the surface-level entertainment. Something that goes beyond the audience's heads.

It's not quite a certainty but you're convinced you need to do something. It's just that as streamers, especially streamers that work under a corporation, you want to know exactly what to do.

You end up talking to Ver for advice. As the President of Xsoleil, he's a good listener, especially since you know how close he and Doppio are. He wouldn't dare judge you when his friend's own feelings are on the line as well as yours.

You enter the Xsoleil student council office. As expected, Ver swivels around in a big leather office chair that makes him look more imposing than his dorky-sweet-tooth personality ever could. "Reader, it's good to see you. I liked your stream last Friday. How can I help you?"

At the mention of his name Ver leans back in his chair, and you tense. You explain yourself: how lucky you are to work with him, how wonderful of a man he is, and how much you care about him. It spills out of you like water in a strainer. You've kept your feelings bottled up for so long, and Ver has such an accepting energy that makes you want to uncover everything you've been hiding. After all, if anyone could give you approval and advice on your feelings about Doppio, it would be the president himself.

By the time you finish, however, he seems far less surprised than you expected. "You should tell him."

"But what if-"

"Just do it." He presses his fingers between his eyes like he's alleviating a headache. "Trust me on this one. Please. Hopefully if you do so within the next week, Meloco's earnings from the betting pool will go back into our funding."

Somehow, that doesn't surprise you, and you're too happy they approve to get frustrated. You request Ver's blessing. He obliges. "Not that you need it. We're just happy there's someone out there for him." Ver's eyes glint. "Treat him right. If you don't, I'll be very disappointed. And Kotoka will start a smear campaign on Instagram."

"Duly noted, Kaichou."

"And he'd be sad."

"Can you trust me too?" You ask. Ver nods. "That's the last thing I want to do. If we're going to do this, I want to make sure I give him everything he deserves."

"Good answer." He smiles, like everything's fallen into place. "I meant what I said, you didn't need my blessing, but you definitely have it now."

When you finally muster up the courage to ask Doppio out, it's like he forgets to talk. In fact, he does. He sputters out happy noises that don't even make up sentences for a solid minute before he remembers how to say "yes."

Doppio makes a lot of noises even when he does know how to talk, and it might be one of the most endearing things about him. You've lovingly started calling them Doppi-noises simply because no one reacts quite like how Doppi reacts. He’s so silly and there isn’t a single word in the English language to describe how silly he is.

He even talks to inanimate objects sometimes when he's alone. It's not much different from how he talks in front of others, but his voice is lower and gentler, and when he realizes you could hear him thank his oven for preheating and the mixing bowls for not spilling ingredients, he spouts out a flustered Doppi-noise with averted eyes and red along his face.

Hanging out with your boyfriend is never boring. He brings so much energy wherever he goes that anything becomes a story, including seemingly mundane things like studying.

Whenever you go grocery shopping he somehow always remembers that one thing you mentioned a few days ago that you wanted to buy but didn't put on the list, and buys it with his own money to give to you, but he doesn't remember to get his own stuff sometimes??

The amount of times Doppio bought you a snack or found a good deal on a candy you've been craving, but forgot to buy hand soap... he usually runs by himself to the store, grabs whatever he forgot, and then comes back to your door nearly out of breath.

Doppio always makes you laugh. He's so goofy when he tries to be, and so earnest when he's serious that his charm is never lost on you. He likes to make you smile.

On the days when your lives as Xsoleil students and streamers get too busy to pay attention to one another, you tend to watch his VODs while you work, and you can pretend like it's just another domestic day where you both tend to your own chores while still enjoying shared company.

You take a fifteen-minute break to reset your brain from working so hard, and you hear Doppio on stream offhandedly mention something with a giggle, and you cackle when you realize it's an inside joke you both share. Then you notice no one in chat even pays attention to what he just said, and you laugh out loud even more. Even when you're apart, he's still thinking about you. He's loyal to a fault.

To this day Doppio still tweets his nonsensical ramblings. But sometimes you reply to them like you understand exactly what he's trying to say! You roll with his humor so well and so quickly after he tweets sometimes, that not only are your fans totally surprised you can comprehend him, but some of your other coworkers in Nijisanji have to ask you to translate what he's saying.

Confession incoming: most of the time you don't understand entirely. But when he checks Twitter and notices the reply from you, his face lights up, and rolling with it makes him bright as a sunbeam. To be fair, you get a lot of his jokes that no one else does. You know how to quip with him and he appreciates it a lot.

Doppio's energy is always infectious, but only so intense when he wants to be. He's always uniquely himself, but he can chill out, and he appreciates when he can. The D in Doppio Dropscythe stands for Downtime!

The whole chuuni thing isn't an act—that's just how he is—but sometimes it's nice when he doesn't need to constantly proclaim his position as the Duke of Discipline. Sometimes it's nice to know he can come home to his Devoted that already knows he's the greatest cheftective out there no matter what he does.

By the way, when you're alone by yourselves, he calls you his Devoted. You think it's so dramatic for the little moments and he thinks it's a bit embarrassing, but neither of you have figured out another word for "lover" that starts with a D, so, Devoted it is.

(Meanwhile you call him Doppippi. Not so chuuni, and you don’t call him that regularly—too mushy—but you swear his face gets a little more colorful whenever you call him by that name.)

It nearly drives you insane how cute Doppio can be. Here he is, one of the tallest and fittest people you know, with piercings and eyeliner and messy hair, and pointed eyes that scream punk rock energy—but he coos at any animal he sees and sticks out his tongue a little whenever he's concentrating on a game, and he turns pink as your hand brushes against the inside of his wrist.

But at the same time, he's still such a badass that you can't resist him. He likes to mess around and tease you, and he knows how to use his appeal to his advantage. It’s no secret he has a sadistic streak, either.

It’s the best of both worlds. He’s so hardcore that it makes the gap moe even more effective when he decides to be cute, and when he's soft and silly it just serves as even harder whiplash when he acts cool.

You entered Doppio's streaming room with a glass of water and a light snack, and exchanged a few words while Doppio was typing out a before-stream message on his waiting screen.

You kiss him, hungry and stupid, drawn to his magnetism. His teeth are pointed. They leave imprints on your tempted mouth, dragging magma over your thoughts, the blind come-ons that dusted over what makes sense. The stream should be starting soon but you can’t find it in yourself to resist.

Steam rises where Doppio hangs his tongue along yours, and so do his hands, large palms rubbing up your back and fingers on your shoulders. You’ve learned that he purrs when pleased; a soft, soothed groan pours from the corners of curved lips. Like an engine muffled by your connection.

You readjust, parting just enough to speak, though your words bounce back into his mouth. “You should prepare for the stream.”

“Done.” He holds you along your neck next, ready to go another round.

“Your Scythekicks are going to get lonely.”

“I don’t want to either,” you say. “I mean, you can always delay by fifteen.”

Even though the keyboard is just inches away, Doppio still brings you in with a loose arm around your shoulder and neck. Your forehead presses up to his cheek, not quite a hug but just as casually intimate. He removes his arm when he places a quick smooch to your temple.

By now all of Xsoleil’s vtuber talents are pros at sending delay messages and Doppio is no exception. The keys clack along in a steady cadence, until the tapping patters out, slowly and surely, with gaps of space between every keystroke.

It’s comedic like everything Doppio does whether he knows it or not. One final key sounds out before your boyfriend folds his hands over his mouth, and lets out a tiny “Huh?”

He stares at the screen. It’s strange to see him this motionless. You’re not too concerned, until you watch his head sink into his hands. “Er, Doppippi? You alright?”

Doppio buries his head a little bit further. It muffles him as he softly chants. “No, no, no, no, no, no, no.”

“What’s the matter?”

“No no no no no no no no noooo.”

"Did something happen?" You pat his head comfortingly, before looking back up at the screen, where he was typing into chat. "It usually isn't this difficult for you to send a message..."

By now, Doppio flopped down in his chair so much that he's flat against the desk. Even though embarrassment crawls down your back, your hand rubs his head and shoulders as reassurance while you continue. "Maybe we should've announced that we were dating sooner."

At that Doppio launches straight up in his seat like a bamboo shoot. "Yeah, but I wanted to do a special stream for it, and take viewers' questions and give bad love advice and have a column name like Doppi's Dreamy Passionland and then announce that we're together at the end!" His eyes squeeze shut as he spits out his thoughts, pink washing over his cheeks the more he talks. "But-but-but what's the point of the Scythekicks knowing I have rizz if they can tell I'm not a whiz?"

You know the blood is rushing to your head too, but even now, your shoulders raise as you giggle. "You know our fans would be supportive whether you had a stream or not."

"But the contenttttt," he whines. He blinks to life with a pout and puppyish eyes, a sign that he's being dramatic for the sake of being dramatic. There's no hiding the fact that you're both mortified, but at least you know just as well as he does that he'll bounce back.

You don't wait for any answers before you finish Doppio's half-written delay message, pin it to chat, and make triple-sure that the mic is muted this time.

Doppio rests his cheek on his palm, squishing his blush. "I could've done the stream, you know."

"Okay, but do you really want to after that fiasco?"

He averts his eyes, then relinquishes. "...Touché."

"Thought so," you say. "So what do you want to do now?"

"Nothing." Doppio slumps over and places his head on your shoulder, too exhausted to wrap his arms around you even though he leans into the fabric of your shirt and the body heat underneath it. "Let's just not do nothing."

So you take the initiative instead, and hold him properly, letting him sink like a weighted blanket. "You know, that was embarrassing, but if I can say? I'm glad they know we're an item."

He rests in the crook of your neck, letting you envelop him while tired hands lay on your back. "About time they figure out I'm yours." Your scent fills his nose and warms his blush, and even though he thought he was at his weakest on stream, he still finds his reservations breaking down as you let him be vulnerable, just for this moment. "But can't you be mine? Just for now."

You hug him tighter. "Always."

You could see him taking in every single detail. as he did so, he lifted an eyebrow and waited for your reply. a small smirk played with the corner of his mouth. the kind of smirk you see someone do when they feel they are superior towards you. he did not know your name, at least not yet.

your silence caused him to continue: “I am theo. and you are?"

"I'm y/n"

"pleased to meet you y/n. my father always said that a name should mean something. it should reflect the person being named"

"i'm not really sure what my name means, but i hope is something nice!"

"are you a pure blooded witch?"

"yep" you say nodding

he seems satisfied with your answer. as if you somehow passed a test without even knowing it. he holds his hand out and introduces himself with a slight bow.

"i would say you look like an angel from heaven, but you look more like some punk girl who has trouble getting to class on time"

“oh! uhm, that can get you into trouble. you know.” he says. then he adds: “are you always so bold? it’s kind of cute.”

he is enjoying this attention he thinks. he leans in even closer to you and whispers in your ear.

you let out some of the air that was inside your lungs "to be honest, I was thinking of smoking some cigarettes and painting my nails"

"you’re a naughty girl then. do you smoke cigarettes often?" he asks this in a way that implies he actually cares about the answer to the question. as if smoking cigarettes is a bad thing. or it's not?

"yeah, but don't tell anyone, ok? it will be our secret"

he seems amused by your response. he smiles and whispers again. this time his voice is even quieter

“a secret.” he whispers the last word and he has this smile on his face that says it is not a normal secret. the look on his face gives her the impression he thinks of something not entirely appropriate. “how many cigarettes are you planning to smoke today alone?”

"3? i'm not really sure"

again, he gives you this amused smile, and it seems he is actually a bit impressed. he is not used to seeing someone not care about the rules like she does.

“well, they say you gotta try everything once. you must get into trouble a lot. aren’t you afraid of detention?”

"no, plus I never get caught anyways". you say and smile for him "do you smoke?"

he seems surprised at the question. he shakes his head and says. “no, I have never smoked. my father makes sure i take care of my health. but he doesn’t say anything about my friends. I suppose you would have to hide it from him?” “how does it feel to smoke? will it feel good to try it for first time?”

"I don't want to be a bad influence for you" you chuckle "so I won't answer"

he seems to actually be thankful. as if you just saved him from doing something bad.

"thank you. If I start smoking today. I’s your fault though!” he laughs. then he asks. “what else do you do that is bad? or am I the only person that deserves to know about this side of you?”

he seems curious and even though the smile on his face remains as teasing as ever. you can see the look on his face is genuine. as if he actually wants to know about you more.

he laughs again. you notice how good his laugh is. he seems to do it a lot lately. he leans in again. you can smell his cologne when you get this close. “so, you are afraid I might judge you or something?”

he gives you a playful look and then adds: “i already said you were cute. so being a little naughty, does not make you any less cute." he says this playfully, and you can see that smile on his face again. he seems to enjoy teasing you.

he seems surprised, and gives you a look. it’s the look a person gives you, when they know they are not in charge. you just gained a lot of power and superiority over him just now.

he smiles, his cheeks are red now, and his whole face is blushing.

"y-yea I have.” he says it as if it’s difficult for him to admit it. your response seemed to have knocked him off his feet. his eyes are fixed to the floor, as if he is trying to decide what to do next.

he looks up and seems shocked. he blushes even more as you say this, his cheeks are as red as a beet now. your confidence has made him completely speechless. he whispers so only you can hear his voice, while also pulling you closer into him. "may I?”

he leans in and gently kisses you on the lips. It’s sweet and gentle but very passionate. you notice just how soft his lips are.he is blushing as you kiss, and so do you. his lips are soft and smooth, you feel them against yours and you find the experience very calming and pleasant.

you place your hand on his cheek and they get even redder, as he continues to hold his lips against yours. he enjoys the kiss very much.

he breaks the kiss after a bit and looks at you. "that was nice.” a broad smile was on his lips. he looks so happy and full of life. you can see all the tension fall away as his shoulders slowly relax.

wandering through the busy streets of hyogo prefecture, the gentle breeze pushes you in the direction of the cafe you always drag suna to after school. the streets are littered with fallen cherry blossom petals, the wind carrying them away from you.

"how'd you know these were my favorite?" you raise an eyebrow at him, did he secretly pay attention to you and your friends gushing over the most romantic flowers to be given?

"i overheard you talking about it," he looks away, "i don't know a lot about valentines day.." his voice is down to a whisper, uncharacteristically so, "will you teach me more about it?"

your face was almost as pink as the flowers he was holding, he was asking you out of all people to teach him about love? how could you say no!

"of course i'll teach you! come! i'll teach you over some coffee!" gently grasping his wrist, you led the way, tugging him towards the entrance to the cafe. behind you, a stoic boy followed, with flushed cheeks and a gentle smile.

"samu look! he gave her the flowers!" atsumu whisper shouts as he watches the two of you through comically large binoculars from the bushes.
