Mix Sahaphap gets to perform (and has the performance chops to perform) in a style that I’ve never seen any other male actor get to embody. Mix gets to unironically play the #strongfemalecharacter. The Beatrice, the Elizabeth Bennett, the Jo March. Strong-willed, emotional, kind-hearted.
Not only do the plot points line up, but Mix, more than any BL actor I’ve seen, fully leans into the embodiment of this archetype. In his roles, he rolls his eyes, pouts, banters flirtatiously, softens his posture and expression at small details. He doesn’t over-exaggerate and imposition other characters but his face also doesn’t hold back his character’s thoughts and judgments. And when the moments arrive, he lets all the hurt and anguish pour out in shatters of tears and visible heartbreak—the star-counting scene, anyone????—in a way that harkens to the operatic emotionality of well-done melodramas, soap-operas, and their contemporary Thai equivalent of Lakorn. It’s only that these have never been men’s roles in those.
Tumblr media
It’s no surprise that one of Mix’s roles—Cupid’s Last Wish—is explicitly a gender body-swap, and Tian in A Tale of Thousand Stars is (albeit explicitly denied within the show) heavily connected to gender body-swapping. What Mix specializes in as an actor, and does exceptionally well, has been defined as feminine. To depict a kind of queer expression in this style is novel because it’s not camp, it’s not okama, it’s not a soft or femboy, it’s not a BL twink (Mix has been mostly excluded from the schoolyards and quads of the BL universe except for a role as a senior crush in Fish Upon the Sky). It’s too sincere and too adult for any of that.
Tumblr media
In Moonlight Chicken we get to see, without the pretense of gendered mysticism, this performance style’s seduction, warmth, wit, and explosiveness within the framework of a general gay form of expression. It says that this kind of femininity might just be a gay thing. Not all gay men exhibit it, obviously—queer men aren’t a monolith. Still, it gives us something to consider about how we observe performance of queerness on screen, especially in front of an audience that puts so much more emphasis on ships, heat, and pairing chemistry to assess how well they perform a BL role. Could we look for other features to judge performance of queerness instead of how well they kiss?
Seme and uke roles would be the major performance style categories loyal BL fans assess actors with, yet even within the archetype his character’s fill within BL narratives, Mix’s performances differ from the typical uke depiction in BL because he really doesn’t perform them as passive. Rather, Mix’s characters and his portrayal of them are dynamic and demanding. It certainly fits certain stereotypes of ukes (Gilbert!) and their gay stereotype equivalent of bottoms as pillow princesses and brats. Mix’s characters, though, have more drive, agency, and compassion than that, and he plays them with all of those currents running underneath.
Tumblr media
We certainly have openly gay writer/director Aof Noppharnach to thank for writing this kind of queer character for Mix to play in Tian and Wen. But for Mix’s specific commitment to the performance starting off with his (debut!?) role in ATOTS, we first have Earth to thank for believing in Mix’s ability and recommending him to portray the role of Tian, and then Aof’s acceptance despite his differing initial expectations for the character. Mix, Earth, and Aof have all been open about how Mix in his personal life and nature holds a lot of similarities to both his role as Tian in ATOTS and Wen in Moonlight Chicken. Some people might knock points off his performances because he’s like them. But his relationship to the characters, rather than dampening my enthusiasm for Mix’s performances, helps me appreciate his willingness to give an authentic performance in a style that hasn’t been encouraged on screens previously. It’s made more impactful that he chose to risk vulnerability to bring something personal that had previously been excluded from screens because of its gender deviance (and in broader society explicitly condemned). This doesn’t make a claim on Mix’s actual identity, but simply shows his willingness to understand and perform the expressions of his queer characters with an effort at empathy that many other actors would feel challenged to bring.
Some actors are chameleons, but some actors have a gift of a type within which they can explore depths and range that no one else can best. For me, that’s what Mix does in his work when directors and casting understands his talent. There’s a BTS video of Mix actually fainting during a scene while in Earth/Phupa’s embrace on the mountain that immediately brought to mind the wildly famous final scene in the film Camille where Greta Garbo as Marguerite dies in her lover’s arms.
Tumblr media
For Mix, it was a serious incident due to regrettably extreme conditions and requiring the on-set paramedics, but these levels of theatrics, for me, are emblematic of what Mix is capable of as a performer, as well. After all, he had to faint in Phupa’s arms multiple times on purpose. It’s the kinds of Old Hollywood and heightened sentimental romance realms Mix takes his performances to! Then he can turn around and make it look easy to take that same character into grounded quips or dedicated everyday tasks. It only takes writers, directors, and audiences willing to see that men can feel this way and act this way. Mix has paved the way.

Radio Silence - a Shigaraki x Reader oneshot
For the last year, your best friend has been somebody you've never met. When Tenko suddenly stops answering your messages, you don't know what to do. Canon, reader has self-esteem issues, 2.1k.
You’ve been avoiding your phone for what feels like days, but you know it’s been hours, or less. You hid it under a pile of clean clothes in your closet so you wouldn’t check it every five seconds. You muted all your alert sounds, except one. You gave yourself a long list of other things to do, hoping the tasks would distract you. But your mind always wanders, somehow, and it always wanders right back to what’s not happening. Every day for the last year you’ve been able to count on at least a message or two – and usually more – from a person you’ve never met face to face. And for the last three days, you haven’t heard from him once.
Tenko keeps weird hours. You know that. You know he goes dark for half the day or more at a time, and the one time you asked if he was okay, he went off on you for fifteen messages in a row. At first you thought it was because you’d gotten too familiar, made a conversation struck up in a Discord server into more than it was, but a week of shallow conversation later, you got a way-too-pissed message asking why you never asked how he was doing anymore. Tenko’s the king of mixed signals. You know that, too.
And at the same time, you know from the details he’s shared that he’s as far from okay as it’s possible to be. He’s sick a lot. He gets hurt a lot, and he won’t tell you how. Sometimes the anger pouring out of his messages scares you a little. And sometimes it’s validating, because you’re not okay, either. You’re angry, too. Sometimes the only thing that makes you feel better is knowing that you’re not alone in feeling that way.
You have been alone, though. The last three days, you’ve had nobody to talk to, and you’re angry at him for leaving you in the dark, for not just telling you that he was done with you. If he’d told you that, you could have gotten angry back, and maybe gotten a reason why he didn’t want to talk to you anymore. Instead you’re sitting here wondering what you did. Worrying that something happened to him. And then reminding yourself that nothing needs to happen to someone for them to want you gone. Everybody does, eventually. You aren’t worth sticking around for.
You knew that. You expected it. You just didn’t expect it to hurt this much.
You can’t avoid your phone forever. Eventually you need it for something, so you dig it out, and you switch on all the alert sounds again. You’ve been through this before, and no matter how much it hurts that the person you’re closest to has ghosted you, the world’s not going to stop so you can collapse in a miserable, self-loathing heap. Life keeps moving, even when you don’t want to be part of it. You have enough shame left to prefer walking rather than being dragged along.
The days begin to add up, and you try to force Tenko out of your mind. It’s hard to do, because you used to tell him everything. You stop taking pictures of things, because you know there’s no one to send them to any longer, and every time you open up your messaging app, you see the last message you sent him, hovering like a bad dream at the top of the list. It seemed innocuous when you sent it, but when you look at it now, all you can think about is how stupid it is. No wonder he stopped talking to you. You’re useless.
Your quirk is boring. Most people’s quirks are, but you’re also lazy, so you didn’t try hard enough in school to make up for being useless that way, and you’re not pretty, either – not that it matters, he’s never seen what you look like – so there’s nothing redeemable about you. Maybe he made better friends. You were probably only a placeholder for him. You just wish he’d had the grace to tell you that ahead of time.
A week becomes two weeks. A month. A little more than that, and although other messages have pushed your thread with Tenko out of sight, he’s still on your mind. You haven’t blocked him yet, even though you should. One night after work, you sit down with a bottle of vodka and a shot glass, swearing you’ll drink until you work up the courage. But before you work up the courage to do that, you work up the courage for something else. There was a while where Tenko was sending you voice memos instead of messages, because he’d gotten hurt and he couldn’t type. You’ve heard his voice, but he’s never heard yours. You’re going to make him listen to it. At least once.
You press the voice call button and listen to it ring three times before it abruptly disconnects. Screw him. You call back again, and this time, it rings all the way through and invites you to leave a message. Yeah, you’ll leave a message. Your message to Tenko is “fuck you”.
But when the voicemail starts to record, the words come to a hard stop in your throat. “Hi,” you start. “It’s – um –”
You forget your own name, like a clown. You didn’t think you were that drunk. “It’s me,” you say finally. The call log will show your name. He’ll know who it is. “I haven’t heard from you in, like, a month and a half, and I miss talking to you. I really miss it. And maybe I talked to you too much, or something, and that’s why you left.”
Your throat starts to close. “I know it might not be that you left, but it’s easier for me to think that than to think that something bad happened to you. I don’t want something bad to have happened to you. So it makes more sense that it’s my fault. I wish you had told me what I did, so I could fix it for the next person I talk to. If there’s a next person. I’m running out of lives on this friendship thing. Or whatever this was. Sometimes I thought –”
Sometimes you thought what? Even drunk and teary and pathetic, you can’t get the words out of your mouth. It’s too embarrassing. The only thing worse than wanting something is getting caught doing it, especially something that you should have known better than to think you’d get. “It doesn’t matter,” you say instead, and then you sniffle audibly, because your nose is running. Gross. “Anyway. You’re probably not even going to listen to this when you get it, and that’s fine. I wanted to let you have it about what a dick you are for ghosting me, but I couldn’t even do that. I guess I just – I don’t know. I hope nothing bad happened to you and you’re just done with me. I hope it’s nice, wherever you are.”
That’s a good sentiment to end things on. But of course you have to fuck it up, because you’re you. “I really miss you,” you say, and you know the voicemail recording is going to capture exactly how choked up you are. “I wish you had just told me, Tenko –”
The answering machine cuts off. You’ve been babbling so long that you ran out of tape, and somehow that’s the thing that makes it all too difficult to bear. You burst into big, stupid tears, your face in your hands, and instead of drinking more or lying down or doing anything that makes sense, you put your down on the table next to the vodka and shot glass and cry yourself to sleep, like you’re in high school all over again, learning a lesson you should have learned the first time. You’re never going to be someone’s first choice. You aren’t even worth a real goodbye.
When you wake up again, you’ve cried yourself out, and you’ve got a splitting headache to go with a mouth that tastes like vodka and death. You should also have a crick in your neck from sleeping on your kitchen table, but you’re not on the kitchen table. You’re not on the floor, either, or on your couch. Your head is on a pillow that’s a lot nicer than the pillows on your bed, and there’s a blanket pulled awkwardly over you. The air smells different, too. The mold-flavored air in your apartment is usually enough to send you sprinting to the bathroom when you wake up with a hangover, but this air is clean.
Are you even in your apartment anymore? You sit up slowly and get the answer – nope, absolutely not, because the room you’re in is a bedroom that’s bigger than your entire apartment. It’s probably the nicest room you’ve ever been in, if you’re being totally honest. Did someone kidnap you? Did you die? The latter feels way more plausible to you. You’re not interesting enough to kidnap. But if you’re dead, it feels kind of unfair to have a hangover on top of it.
“Finally,” a familiar voice says, from somewhere nearby. “I thought you were never going to snap out of it.”
You whip around fast enough to make yourself dizzy. The bed you’re sprawled out on is big enough that you could fit another bed between you and the person on the other side of it. The person over there is in a leg cast, with bandaged hands and bandages on his face. You couldn’t recognize his face even if you could see it. But you do recognize his voice. You can’t believe your ears. “Tenko?”
“Yeah,” Tenko says, like any of this is normal. “I was wondering if you were going to call.”
“If I was going to?” you manage.
“Yeah. You ghosted me.” Tenko looks at you. You didn’t have a clear picture in your head of what he looked like, but this definitely wasn’t it – white hair, red eyes, a face completely covered in bandages. “That was kind of shitty.”
“You didn’t answer my message for months,” you protest. “That’s what ghosting is. Not me not calling you after you didn’t message me back.”
“Whatever,” Tenko says. You know it’s him. It’s his voice. But you can’t get over everything else that’s weird about the situation – the way-too-opulent room, the fact that Tenko’s clearly been beat to shit, the fact that you fell asleep at the kitchen table and woke up here. Wherever here is. “If you called earlier I’d have come to get you earlier.”
He was waiting for you to talk to him? You’re tempted to look up ghosting on your phone and make him read the actual dictionary definition, but whoever brought you here left your phone behind. And there’s a bigger question you need answered. “Where am I?”
“This is headquarters.” Tenko shrugs, then winces. Is his arm in a sling, too? “For the League of Villains.”
You cough. “Or maybe it’s not the League anymore. They’re changing the name,” Tenko continues. The League of Villains? “Anyway, it’s a lot nicer than our last place. Makes your apartment look like a hole in the ground.”
“How do you know what my apartment looks like?”
“How do you think I knew where to get you?” Tenko gives you a weird look. “You’re here now. I’ll take you to meet everybody once you’re sober.”
He settles down on his side of the bed, grimacing as he tries to get comfortable. It looks like he’s ready to take a nap. He has to be joking. He just kidnapped you, or had you kidnapped, and he’s with the League of Villains. He thought you were ghosting him the whole time instead of him ghosting you, and instead of explaining anything at all, he’s going to take a nap. The anger you should have expressed on the phone call comes up. “Who are you, Tenko?”
“That’s not my name,” he says. “I couldn’t tell you my real one before. But I guess –”
He reaches over to a nightstand and picks something up, and your heart skips six or seven beats in a row. Not in the good way. The way where you’ve missed a step on the stairs and you’re not sure you can catch yourself before it’s too late. Your online friend settles the hand over his face and glances towards you. “Shigaraki Tomura,” he says, a crooked smile showing through the bandages. “Nice to finally meet you in person.”
He closes his eyes and falls asleep without removing the hand. You’ve spent the last month and a half tearing yourself up over being ghosted. It never occurred to you that there might be worse things. Depending on what happens when Shigaraki Tomura wakes up, this could all too easily be one of them.

Quid Pro Quo - Chris Sturniolo
Tumblr media
warnings : smut.
Chris’ POV
It was a hot summer day; the sun was shining, the sky was clear. It was a perfect day to go to the beach, so that’s what we were doing. Nick, Matt, Nathan, Y/N, and I were all in our Airbnb, getting ready to head out.
I was sitting against the back of the couch, with Matt, waiting for the rest of them to finish. Personally, I don’t know what takes so long. Throw on your swimsuit and grab a towel.
“Jesus, what’s taking them so long?” Matt speaks, voicing my thoughts.
“I was just thinking that same thing.” I reply.
Just then, Nate comes walking out of the bathroom. His face was buried in his phone, so we knew why he was taking forever. When he looks up, he notices that it’s just me and Matt.
“Where’s everyone else?” He asks.
Before anyone could say anything, Y/N’s door opened and the last two emerged.
“About fucking time!” Matt exclaims with a huff. “There’s no reason we should be waiting on you guys for forty-five minutes. Like that’s absurd!”
“We’re just going to the beach.” I remind them, completely confused as to why it would take so long.
“Literally shut up, we’re ready now.” Nick says, rolling his eyes.
As my two brothers and Nate walked towards the door with their things, I noticed Y/N linger a little bit, so I did as well. She seemed to be off in her own little world, so I walked over and placed my arm on her shoulder.
“You straight?” I ask, watching as she looked up at me with furrowed eyebrows.
“What? Yeah, I’m good.” She says, confusion clear as day in her voice. “Are you?”
I couldn’t help but chuckle, “I’m cool. You’re the one that’s staring off into space.”
She slightly shakes her head with a smile on her lips as light laughter falls from her mouth, “My bad. I’m good though, let’s go.”
With that, she walked ahead, following the rest of them out the door. I stood there for a split second, watching her retreat. My eyes found themselves checking her out, admiring everything about her. She looked so good in her little jean shorts that were unbuttoned and folded over. I could see her
neon orange bikini showing beneath her shorts and through her white crop tee. She looked amazing, and I just wanted to get my hands on her.
Shaking my thoughts from my head, I followed in suit, and we all piled into the van. After connecting to aux, I queued a few songs and we were on our way.
-
“We should get something to eat when we leave.” Nate suggests as we all exit the car.
The rest of us agree in a multitude of hums and nods. We gather our bags that held sunscreen, snacks, drinks, towels, and spare clothes. Once we were all ready, we made our way onto the sand, searching for a good spot to chill.
Luckily, the beach was pretty clear of people, only having a few stragglers here and there. We chose a nice secluded area, setting our belongings out.
Y/N grabbed a large sheet from her bag and began sprawling it out. I grabbed a few things to put on the corners, keeping it in place. She sent me a grateful smile which I returned with ease.
“It’s so hot out here!” Nate groans.
“It’s summer, kid. There’s literally a vast ocean in front of your face.” Nick points out.
“Then let’s go!” Nate shouts, yanking off his t-shirt and removing his slides before running out to the water.
It only took a second for me, Matt, and Nick to do the same, following our friend. We all crashed into the water, our joyous laughter mixing together as we splashed around for a moment.
“Let’s see who can hold their breath the longest.” Matt grins, looking between the three of us.
“I’m down. Who’s judging?” Nate asks.
“Not it.” The three of them said in unison, leaving me to roll my eyes.
I shrugged, “Well. Are you gonna go, or what?”
“Okay, kid.” Nick rolls his eyes, “On three. One, two, three.”
They all submerged at the same time, leaving me at the surface. Immediately, my lips turn into a frown, and my eyes look back to shore. Y/N was laying out with our things, by herself. Not caring about their stupid game, I wade back out to the sand.
Once I’m fully emerged from the water, I hear Matt yelling out to me, “Chris! What the heck, you were supposed to judge!”
I just waved a dismissive hand and continued striding over to Y/N, determined to keep her company and spend time with her.
“Hey.” I greet, grabbing my towel and patting myself dry.
She looked up at me, holding her hand out above her eyes to block the sun. She had her eyes scrunched, trying to shield them from the brightness.
She looked so ridiculously good. Her perfect body in her perfect bikini. Her recently pedicured toes and manicured fingers, her beautiful hair flowing down her back, her flawless skin. She looked better than the sun.
“Hi.” She spoke, a smile on her face.
I return the smile, sitting myself next to her. She looked back out at the scene in front of her, taking in the beauty of nature and the sight of her friends making memories and having fun.
Taking in a slight breath, pulling my attention away from her, I reach for my bag to grab some sunscreen. I poured a little in my hands, then spread it over my face, rubbing it in. I repeated the same action to my arms and torso, applying it everywhere I would most likely get sunburnt.
“Here.” I say, handing the bottle to her. “Don’t wanna get burned, do you?”
She grins, accepting the bottle from me. I watched as she copied me, rubbing some onto her face.
She then turns to me and asks, “If I lay down to tan, do you think you could put some on my back?”
My dick practically jumped at that and I was immediately nodding my head and scooting closer to her. I grabbed the bottle as she laid down on her stomach, her head placed on her folded hands.
Once she was settled and I was sat on my knees next to her, I poured some of the sunscreen onto her back. I could see her slightly jump at the cold contact. Setting the bottle aside, I began to softly rub the liquid into her skin.
I couldn’t help the feeling of my dick slightly growing. It was completely unintentional, but I was unable to prevent it. Her skin was so soft and warm, shining perfectly under the bright sun. I could hear her sighing in content, enjoying the feeling.
My hands worked her shoulders and around her neck, firmly massaging them. My fingertips gently dug into her skin, rubbing in circular motions. As I moved lower, I could hear very quiet, almost inaudible, moans coming out of her mouth. The sound travelled straight to my dick, hardening it even more.
Adding more sunscreen to her lower back, I worked it into her skin. My fingers lightly dragged over the sides of her bikini bottoms, moving onto her legs. As I’m massaging her thighs, I hear another moan come from her, louder than before yet still quiet. Her body immediately tensed at the accidental slip.
“It’s okay.” I assure her, completely unbothered by it, in fact the opposite.
After a minute of rubbing her legs, I riskily moved my hands a bit higher, palming right beneath her ass. When I got no objections, I placed my hands on both of her cheeks.
“Is this okay?” I ask, meaning sure she wasn’t uncomfortable in the slightest.
“Yes.” She quietly moaned out as I kneaded her ass.
Her soft grunts and moans encouraged me to keep squeezing her cheeks, gripping and rubbing them. My hands wrapped around each cheek perfectly, slightly spreading them, my fingers underneath her bottoms.
Her bikini bottoms were tightly pressed against her pussy from the positions of my hands. I could see her arousal peeking through at this point, and from that and her moans, I was so fucking hard.
“Tell me if you want me to stop.” I whisper to her, my voice a bit raspy.
“Please.” She moans.
“Please what?” I question, a grin pulling to my lips.
“Touch me, please.” She begs, pushing her ass into my hands a little more.
I lick my lips, a groan escaping from me, thrilled at the thought of finally having her. I quickly look ahead, making sure our friends weren’t coming. They were still goofing off in the water, completely oblivious to us.
I can’t help but pull my bottom lip between my teeth as I slightly pulled her legs apart, just a little bit. My fingers meet right at her core, putting light pressure on her heat, causing her to whimper. My index finger hooks under the side of her bottoms and tug them to the opposite side, revealing her soaking wet pussy.
“Fuck, you’re so wet.” I grunt.
Without being too noticeable, I lean over her ass, my face hovering a foot or two above. I pucker my lips, my tongue pushing saliva to the forefront of my mouth, letting it fall. It only took seconds, before it seeped into her folds and mixed with her juices.
I take my fingertips and run them back and forth between her slit, mixing it all up and coating my fingers. She was letting out small moans and I was eating it up, she sounded to heavenly.
I bring my the pad of middle and ring finger down to her clit, rubbing in full circles. I started slow, her moans becoming louder. When I picked up the pace, her moans were more frequent as well. I dragged my middle finger to her entrance, sliding right into her opening.
“Mm, fuck that - that feels so good.” She moans out, grinding into my hand.
I kept pumping my finger for a moment, before adding another, causing a lewd moan to ripple from her throat. Having her like this was turning me on beyond relief. I just wanted to sink my dick into her and have her moaning my name.
Sneaking another eye out to the sea, I made sure the other three were still occupied. Then, I take my other hand and trail it up her legs, squeezing tenderly. My hand roams her body a little bit before slightly reaching under her and rubbing her clit w my fingers.
She was so wet, my fingers were just gliding all over her. Her mouth hung up as her face scrunched up, several moans falling from her lips. I knew she was close. Her legs slightly trembled and her hand clutched at the sheet beneath us as she pushed her core back into me.
I started pumping and rubbing faster, the moans coming from her doing nothing but encouraging me. Her whole body began to shake and I could feel her clenching around my fingers.
“Oh my god.” She loudly moans out, twitching as she lets go and gives in to her orgasm.
My hand was covered in her cum as I continued working her through her climax. I was so unbelievably turned on, I just wanted to bury myself deep inside her. Once she came down from her high, I pulled my hands away from her and brought my fingers into my mouth, tasting her sweetness.
She was panting, trying to regain her breath. She turned her head towards me, a breathy laugh falling from her mouth as I gave her a smug smile.
“Did you enjoy that?” I ask, smirking at her.
“Did you?” She retorts, nodding her head towards my throbbing dick, begging to be released from its shackles.
I groan at her, pulling my towel to cover my crotch, “Not fair.”
She only laughed, tossing her arms up in defense as she sat up, causing me to laugh with her. Just then, the others came walking up to shore, joining us.
“We’re hungry.” Nate says, “We wanna go get food.”
“I haven’t even swam yet.” Y/N pouts.
“That’s your fault!” Matt exclaims, “You two have been out here, doing who knows what. You could’ve been out there having a blast with us.”
Me and her share a look, heat rushing to her cheeks at the thought of what we just did. I still couldn’t get my boner to go down.
“Pack it up. We’re going.” Nick states, drying off.
So we do. We gather our things and head back to the car, except Nate takes the front seat with Matt, and I sit in the very back with Y/N, Nick being between both pairs.
Throughout the drive, Y/N stayed right next to me, arm to arm. She lifts her hand and placed it on my leg, her head resting on my shoulder. My breath hitched at the movement of her hand, her fingertips pressing into me.
I just knew my dick would betray me any second, proving to her just how much I was feeling her. The way she smelled and how warm she felt against me, I was already at her mercy.
I could feel my dick twitch when her hand slid closer to it, wanting nothing more than for her to touch me. I shifted in my seat, readjusting myself. She placed her hand right on top of my dick that was now hard and throbbing under her touch.
I shoot her a warning look and she just innocently smiles at me, slightly palming me through my swim trunks.
“What are you doing?” I ask her, my voice a whisper.
“Hmm? Nothing.” She responds.
Her voice sounded so sweet and angelic, I wanted nothing more than her to moan out my name as she was wrapped perfectly around my dick, me sunken deep inside her.
My thoughts alone were enough to make me want to explode, but the way her hand palmed and stroked me, I was in shambles. My hips were jerking, wanting to feel more of her. My teeth were gnawing on my bottom lip, trying my hardest to keep my groans inside.
I quickly grabbed her hand and squeezed it, halting her movements because I was so close to nutting in my shorts. I dropped my head onto the headrest behind me and let out a breath. Her giggling next to me caused me to look over at her, and I was glad I did.
She looked so lovely. The smile on her face was wide, her pretty teeth on show. Her eyes were crinkled as she shook with beautiful laughter falling from her mouth. She was everything, and I just wanted to give it all to her.
“You’re insane.” I whisper, interlocking our hands.
“Only for you.” She responded, a cheeky grin on her face.
I wanted more of her touch, but I knew I would have to wait until we got back to the house.
-
We had already gotten our food and ate in the parking lot like we usually do. We were now pulling back up to the house, all eager to finally be back.
We exited the van, all gathering our things and making our way inside. Everyone parted and went to their respective rooms.
I put my things away and changed into some shorts, walking around my room for a little bit. I wanted to go into her room, but I wasn’t sure if she wanted me to. And I didn’t want anybody else to say shit. Sighing, I pulled out my phone to text her.
-come to my room?
-omw
It was that simple, and now, I couldn’t wipe the stupid smirk off my face. I don’t know what got into me, but ever since we left the house earlier, she’s been on my mind the entire time. Even more so after she begged me to touch her.
A few soft knocks sounded on the other side of my door, and it opened, Y/N peeking her head inside. I smiled at her, beckoning her over with a nod.
She looked so good, wearing a small tank top with little shorts. And the fact that I could see her nipples through her shirt was driving me wild.
When she walks over and stops in front of me, I reach behind her and pull her closer to me, my hand resting on her lower back. She stares up at me, an innocent look in her eyes that I just want to wreck.
My other hand trails up the side of her body, stopping at her jaw as I cupped her face. My thumb brushed her bottom lip, feeling her soft skin. She felt so hot under me, I loved it.
“I feel like you owe me something, no?” I say to her, my voice husky.
I watched as her eyes blew out, now nothing but pupils as her irises were completely unnoticeable.
“Lock the door.” She whispered to me.
I eagerly did so, quickly making my way back to her. She put her hands on my bare chest and softly pushed me back until my legs hit the bed.
She effortlessly dropped to her knees, keeping her hands at my waistline. She hooked her fingers in my shorts and tugged them down, leaving me in nothing but my boxers.
My boxers were a tent around my erection, my hunger for her evident. She reached up and wrapped her hand around my covered dick, her eyes never wavering from mine. Her hand firmly gripped me, pumping me over the fabric, I couldn’t help but buck my hips towards her.
She licked her lips and pulled down my boxers, discarding them with my shorts. My cock sprang up, practically staring her in the face. I wanted her mouth on me so bad, I was damn near fiending for it.
She wrapped her hand around me once again, this time skin to skin, and I couldn’t help but shudder. The anticipation was building and I so badly just wanted to fuck her throat.
She brought her lips to my head, dragging them along my shaft. I could feel my breath get caught in my throat as I watched her. She wrapped her lips around the tip, flicking her tongue over my slit and collecting my precum.
“Fuck.” I groan, my hands immediately going to her head and grabbing fistfuls of her hair.
Without warning, she took all of me into her saliva coated mouth, her nose hitting my pubic bone. I could feel my tip sliding down her throat, causing me to tighten my grip in her hair as I let out a low groan.
She pulled back and did it once more, her eyes locked onto mine. She began bobbing her head, sucking around me as she went. One of her hands went to play with my balls while the other one jerked what she couldn’t take in her mouth.
I was in pure bliss. She was making me feel better than I’d ever felt before. The way she sucked harder around my sensitive tip, seeing how I reacted to it. The moans were pouring from my lips left and right.
I felt myself getting close to finishing when she pulled away, leaving me whimpering at the loss of contact. She continued jerking me, squeezing and twisting around my tip, and licked my slit with a flattened tongue when more precum emerged.
I almost came at the sight of her, a loud groan coming out of me. I placed my hand under her jaw, pulling her up to her feet. Only giving her a quick glance, my lips were on hers.
I kissed her hard and deep, shoving my tongue into her mouth and exploring the inside of it. She moaned into the kiss, her hands finding my hair and tugging it.
I pulled away, slightly out of breath, and placed my forehead on hers. “Mm, can I fuck you?”
She put her lips on mine, resuming our kiss. I felt her nodding, but I pushed her back a little, looking at her expectantly.
“Please.” She whined, “Please fuck me.”
I turned us around, then quickly removed her top, leaving her torso bare. Her nipples were hard and I couldn’t help but pinch them, causing her to let out a soft moan.
I pushed her back onto the bed and leaned over her, my mouth meeting hers again. Our tongues colliding, teeth clashing. My hands slipped into her bottoms, tugging her shorts and her panties down, and pulling them down her legs and off her feet.
Her pussy was glistening with her arousal, and I just wanted to devour her. I sat on my knees, situating myself in between her legs. I brought my hand forward, teasing her folds with soft feather like touches.
She moaned out, thrusting her hips into my hand to create more friction. I chuckled at her desperation, and hovered back over her.
My hand enveloped her neck, gently squeezing as I planted a kiss onto her lips. My mouth trailed from hers, down her jaw, and onto her neck, leaving wet kisses in my wake.
Enough with prolonging it, I sat back up and lined myself with her entrance. Looking into her eyes, I sink myself into her. She reaches down and intertwines her hands with mine as I bottom out, low moans leaving both of our mouths.
I slowly start to rock in and out of her, loving every sound that she was letting out. Her grip on my hands tightened as I thrusted faster.
“You feel so fucking good around me.” I moaned, hitting even harder.
Her eyes were rolling in the back of her head as her face contorted in pleasure. I swiftly grabbed her legs, lifting them high and letting them rest on my shoulders, before drilling back into her.
“Oh fuck!” She yelps, a string of moans following. “Yes, right there.”
My thrusts were fast and hard, burying my dick deep within her. The sultry moans she was giving me was driving me crazy, I wanted all of her forever.
I leaned forward to quickly kiss her, missing the feeling of her lips on mine. She was soaking wet and I could feel her juices dripping down my balls as she clenched around me. We were both so close, I could see it in the way she was a moaning and quivering mess beneath me.
“You fill me up so well.” She moans, her hands dragging down my back. “I’m about to cum.”
I continued fucking into her at the same pace, knowing she would be falling over the edge soon. And she did.
Her legs violently shook as she arched her back, loud pornographic moans coming out of her mouth. She was trembling as she let go, cumming all over my dick.
“Fuck, you’re so pretty. I’m so close.” I tell her, watching her face as she climaxes.
She opened her eyes and smiled at me, before biting her lip, “Cum on my face.”
My eyes widened and I almost nutted right then and there, but I pulled out. She slid down as I came above her, positioned right over her face. My hand grasps my dick and it only took a few jerks before my stomach tightened and I shot my load out.
Her tongue was out, spurts of white nut landing all over it and the rest of her face. She looked so fucking hot, being a good little slut for me.
After both of us came down, I crashed beside her. I took in a few breaths before quickly going to my conjoined bathroom and wetting a washcloth with warm water. I went back over to the bed and kneeled next to her, softly cleaning her face as she looked up at me.
Once her face was clear again, I leaned forward and planted a few kisses on her lips. Folding the towel, I brought it between her legs and cleaned her own juices up. I then go to the bathroom and wiped myself up and discarded the towels.
Back in the room, I put my boxers back on and pull out a shirt from my closet, then hand it to her as she puts her panties back on.
“Will you stay?” I ask her, hopeful. “Will you stay and cuddle with me?”
She smiled, “I’d love that.”
I return the smile and climb into bed with her. We both get under the covers and I pull her into my embrace, planting a soft kiss on her head. She lays her head on my chest and wraps her arms around me as I put mine around her.
It didn’t take long for sleep to overcome us, as we were both feeling content and spent.

So basically my friend had a dream that we were in a science room and I was creating these “world destructive” weapons. She said it looked like a mix of a flamethrower and a water gun, specifically saying it looked “funky” and like a “monstrosity”. But anyway, she says that I dropped it cause I was jumping up and down, pretending to be a hero and saving people but I was actually cackling and didn’t look heroic at all🫤 and I dropped it and a red button was almost pressed and everyone knows red button=bad. Thankfully it didn’t get pressed.
But here’s the funny part.
The reason why I was making those weapons is because Donnie (yes. Dontello the fucking turtle) provoked me by saying that my weapons were ass. So i was like, “grrr👹” and he was like, “grrr👹” and we had a deadly nerd duel.
She said we might kill humanity if we were put in a room together and if we were to fight it’d be a tie since we’d be pointing deadly weapons at each other. She ended it by saying, “Moral of the story: You and Donnie would destroy everything.”
Anyways, I was wondering if you could write headcanons or a one shot with this sort of like theme ig with Donnie and just what you get from reading this weird ass dream she sent me🤭😭 (if it inspired you to write something)

“This place is about to blow,” April whispered to Leo. “Yeah, and my bet is on Donnie,” Leo added smugly, holding up a fake five dollar bill. “You’re on, you have no idea how crazy Y/n really is,” April said holding up her own five, yes that one was real.
“Last chance Y/n,” Donnie took a deep breath, calming himself. Y/n rolled their eyes, shifting their weight to one side, then glanced up at the purple clad turtle, “Oh? I was quite certain you were going to back out by now,” a mischievous glint could be seen in your eyes.
Confused? Okay, let’s back it up.
“Donnie, I’d like you to meet, my newest friend,” April gave jazz hands as she presented you, “Y/n!” She beamed and the purple turtle gave you a once over before turning back to his phone. THAT. That right there was his first mistake! “Donnie! C’mon be nice!” April pleaded. Though her voice was sweet, her eyes were raging with a burning fire that was threatening to explode behind closed doors–meaning as soon as you were gone April would be chewing out Donnie’s shell. “Sigh, if I must, greetings April’s friend ‘Y/n’ I am the Othello Von Ryan,” He gave a half-hearted wave with one hand. His gaze lingered purposefully for a second longer, then he looked at April as if to say, see I can be ‘nice.’ Then, his attention promptly went back down to his phone. A smug smile forming on his face, thinking himself cool.
You blinked hard, taking in his enormous ego and trying not to gag. Strike two. “Yes, well April I thought you said you were showing me the cool one,” you said off-handedly, turning back to the lab door that you had just entered through. April sucked in a deep breath, knowing you were pissed off, so instead of trying to force the two of you to get along, she was ready and willing to follow you out of the lab. But it seemed your comment had struck a nerve on Ol’ Donatello. “Only an intellectual individual would understand how cool my lab is, therefore crowning me the coolest person you’ll ever meet. Top side or here in the sewers, darling” he hadn’t looked up from his phone, but he was definitely clenching it a tad harder than before.
You chuckled darkly, darling? He’d regret that. What was the count? Oh yeah, strike three. You were still walking for the door, turning only when you reached it. Glancing around the supposedly ‘cool’ place, and deciding right then and there the two of you were never going to be friends. No, there was a special kind of relationship between the two of you. You assumed it would level up to hate eventually but for now you’d stick him in the dislike pile. Maybe he would realize how stuck up he sounded, especially for a first meeting. Your eyes snagged on a container that had somewhat of a spotlight on it. As if to say, out of all the things in his lab, this was one of his favorites. So you were a little mean when you said, “I don’t know, it’d be a lot cooler if that was genuine uranium instead of a carbon copy fake,” nodding at the said container and then you shoved the door open without giving him a chance to reply. April scurried out, harshly whispering to Donnie that she would have a word with him later.
Donnie hadn’t gotten up from his swivel chair the entire time–you had just soaked up his favorite place in the world, all with the most judgmental eyes. You weren’t just judging his lab though, you were judging him. But he never thought that you would actually know what you were looking at. Much less be able to tell the difference from him forging and putting together a fake piece of uranium. Or just that you even knew it was uranium to begin with?! You surprised him. And you had also dissed him. A mistake that he would make sure you would regret. He quickly removed his feet from his work table, dusting it off. He never put his feet up there, he had done it because you were there. A stranger that April trusted, and he wanted to appear to be the badass he proclaimed himself to be. Donnie felt like doing something illegal, something to obtain real uranium and shove that into your face. Because there was no way he could legally afford such material. He wondered if you were some rich uptown-ie. And immediately he was pushing his swivel chair away from the work table towards his big screen. “Well darling, you’ve got my attention, now, how much science do you actually know?” He muttered to himself as he did a google search. What? He’d start off with the basics. Then he’d dive into the dark web for all your dirty little secrets, if you had any. You looked like the type to hide stuff. But what he came up with was mainly surface information. Perfect grades, perfect family (only child), perfect records, even for attendance. Which then came as no surprise when he saw you had no criminal record. It didn’t add up, no one could be that perfect, he went back, to middle school, to elementary, and still you had perfect grades/attendance/record.
“Hmm,” he spun in his chair. What’s a goody-little-two-shoes running around in the sewers of NYC with his best friend, the April O’Neil. How did the two of you become friends? These were questions that only said best friend could answer and he knew he had surely pissed her off with his antics. Donnie sighed, he’d do a deeper dive in the world wide web before he had to admit he was actually curious to April.
Three hours later and nothing relevant. You didn’t even have a social media he could uncover! Fuckity fuck.
“So what’d you think?” April asked sheepishly. Hoping that you’d just forget about the whole interaction with Donnie and focus on how positive the rest of the brothers had been. April thanked the heavens above that even Leo hadn’t acted so childishly. Sure he was still immature, but he wasn’t blatantly rude! April had come to find out that you had a short fuse and a low tolerance for any and all bullshit.
“Raph was cool, Mikey was sweet, Leo was.. alright?” You said, pondering for a moment. Then your eyes hardened and April grimaced, you hadn’t forgotten.
“But that other fellow, the purple one?” You just shook your head, knowing he was still April’s friend, whether you liked him or not. You wouldn’t go as far as to bad mouth him in front of her. That would put her in an awkward position, so you kept your mouth shut—but April readily spoke up. “I don’t know what his problem was!! Honestly Y/n, he’s a great guy, and I’ll prove it to you. He probably didn’t have any coffee this morning!” She supplied an excuse and you raised an eyebrow. “Next weekend, like Mikey said, come back with me! It’ll be way more fun, and I’ll make sure to have a word with Donnie,” April pleaded.
It was easy to agree, truly the other guys were cool, you just had a bad taste in your mouth from the purple one. “Alright, I’ll be there then,” you gave April a small smile and she instantly relaxed. “Yes!! Awesome, this will be just—“ she looked down at her phone, immediately hiding it from your view in an attempt at being discrete. You did, however, notice how her eyes had hardened just slightly behind her glasses. “I’ve gotta take this. I’ll text you the details, see ya tomorrow?” April asked. You nodded, “Of course, do I ever miss class?” You joked, and April couldn’t help but laugh, thinking of some fond memories of you rushing in, barely making it some days but still there. “True that! Alright, see ya laters!” April waved, taking off towards a different direction than where the both of you had been heading. You noticed it was back towards the alleyway, likely to the manhole—right back down to the sewers.
You shoved your hands into the pockets of your hoodie. You would give the purple turtle credit for one thing, and one thing only, he had given you slight inspiration. You headed to your apartment, to your own lab. The benefits of being a straight A student and having rich parents, was practically getting anything you wanted from them. And yes, especially if you told them it was for school, and to them sure, all the stuff you bought sounded scientific enough. They didn’t know better, truly they were just happy that you did so well in school. That’s really all that mattered to them. Get the grade, and you’ll be rewarded, so get the grade you did. You never disappointed, that wasn’t in your DNA, nope not in your gene code. So as you typed in the code to your front door, passing through the living room and heading straight for the only other door with a keypad lock, you typed in a different set of numbers. Swish, the door slid open before you, and you were hit with a chilly breeze. Ah, home sweet home.
“I’ll give you one chance to offer up a good reason as to why you were acting so—so—so childishly earlier!” April had stormed back to the lair and went straight for Donnie’s lab as soon as she saw him calling. She hadn’t answered his call, no sir, she would much rather face him. “You should’ve seen the face they made as soon as they locked eyes with me,” Donnie started and April scowled, “Are you serious?!” April practically yelled; Donnie continued, “Yes, I am, and not just me—they were eyeing my lab like it was a junkyard. I may get some parts from there, but this is definitely not a repo place.” Donnie threw his arm to the side as if to make his point. His lab was flawless, freshly cleaned (he had done so just for April and her friend, you.) “Donnie, you spoke first. You started that whole bicker back and forth,” April exasperated, “now I’m asking you to put the whole thing aside for me, and get along. Please?!” Donnie grumbled to himself, muttering how he didn’t know if that would be possible if you couldn’t fix your resting bit-
“DONNIE!” April really yelled this time. He closed his mouth, had he been saying that out loud? Sheesh, you had really done a number on him. Though maybe he was just frustrated he hadn’t been able to find anything more interesting about you. Just the fact that you were rich due to your father’s wealth as a political figure. Which only made Donnie even more angry, you definitely had the money to buy materials he couldn’t… that is, if what he was assuming was true and that you were just as big a nerd as him. “Fine, how about you tell me why, or I should say, how the two of you even became friends?” Surely April could shed some light on that unknown fact. “It’s a long story, but I promise, Y/n is legit, just give them another chance, they’ll be back next weekend,” April informed as she stood, obviously planning on heading out. But this wasn’t good, Donnie hadn’t gotten any information at all! He sighed loudly, and April shot him a glare. “Dee,” she sighed, “I thought the two of you would get along.. you have way more in common than you think.” April shook her head, and Donnie softened if only slightly. “Okay okay, for you, and you only” and April beamed brightly. “Awesome, just watch, the two of you will be buds in no time!”
And now you have a bit of context! Still confused?
Well, next week arrived and it had been going all according to April’s plan. Everyone getting along for the most part, though subtle glares were definitely exchanged. You and Donnie were… cordial? Yes, we’ll go with that word. Mikey and April had thrown a pizza party, plenty of boxes to share. Then after a movie night was in order, and after that the board games had begun. This was where things started to go a little haywire. April didn’t know why she had thought it was a good idea to let Leo choose, but she did, and monopoly it was. A long ass game that definitely could break up the fragile peace that April had been trying to cultivate between you and Donnie. As soon as Donnie had landed on one of Y/n’s property, they held out their hand for him to cough up the fake cash. His eyes had turned ablaze. Not because of your hand, but because of your smug little face, more than happy to have had him pay up first. Instead of passing the money, he slid it your way, making you pick it up yourself. Classy Donatello, very classy.
It was war after that. The light blue properties and railroads secured by Y/n, you were on a roll and trying to get the oranges next. Though Mikey had practically called it in the beginning, he hadn’t gotten that lucky with his rolls, instead landing on the pinks and utilities. You had actually traded Mikey the last utility property for the last railroad. (Donnie had seethed, not thinking that was a smart trade on Mikey’s part, but really he just didn’t want you getting another set.) Donnie had the red’s and the dark blues, plotting on everyone’s demise. All it would take would be just one person to land on those expensive ass properties that had him almost broke now, but he was in this for the long run. Long run indeed, one by one the other brothers ended up bankrupt to either you or Donnie’s schemes until it was just April left. It was getting pretty late too, April would say so every time it was her turn, but she would immediately be thwarted by both you and Donnie saying, “It’s almost over!” “Just one more round.”
The competitive nature between the both of you was alive and crackling. It was your turn, and you landed on the chance tile. As you picked up a card, the color from your face drained. “This is bullshit.” You muttered, throwing the card down on the center of the board for everyone to see. “Oh noooooo!” Mikey wailed, he had been rooting for you, much to Donnie’s dismay. Out of all the cards, you picked the one that forced you to move to Boardwalk, aka the dark blue that Donnie had the most hotels built on. It was a sure shot defeat, you knew you would go bankrupt. “It was all part of the plan,” he said as he tapped the side of his head smugly. “Yeah well, make sure to thank the chance card for your victory,” you made sure to say.
April piped up, “I’m still in the game too you know!” You gave her a sheepish smile. While that was true, April didn’t have as much as Donnie now had—with his properties and yours included, it was a sure win. “But let’s call it a night huh?” April asked for a final time and you agreed, getting up and stretching. April didn’t think you were a sore loser but on the off hand that Donnie started to brag, April wanted to get you out of there while the mood was still amiable. The brothers all said their goodbyes, Mikey already asking for future plans. Donnie had walked silently back to his lab after his mumbled sayonara. To which you only hesitated a second before following after him.
Leo nudged April, nonexistent eyebrows waggling and silently telling her to not follow just yet. April’s eyes widened, wondering if the two of you were finally going to become closer! The best buds plan that she had hoped for were now in the foreseeable future?! She smiled brightly now watching as you disappeared around the corner that led to Donnie’s lab.
“Hey wait,” you called out when you saw he was about to shut the lab door. Donnie took a step backwards, head peeking out of the entryway to see you had stopped a couple feet away from his lab. “I just wanted to say, good game.. it was smart to consider the chance cards and their uses,” your hands were in your hoodie pockets. You made sure to keep eye contact, trying to convey your sincerity. Donnie’s full form came into view as he leaned against the lab door. Listening intently, eyes not leaving yours. When you finished he wondered if April had put you up to saying something like this. But the way your eyes immediately went to the floor after you finished, the way your feet were shuffling, he deduced that possibility was less than likely.
“Yeah, it was a good game, mostly because I won,” he grinned, unable to stop from bragging— at least a little! You rolled your eyes. “Right,” you replied, giving up on the sincere tone. “But for a second there, I thought I was in deep trouble, it was uh- fun to play with you,” Donnie remedied, the smugness fading into something more genuine. You raised an eyebrow, smiling slightly as you watched him backtrack a little. Being a little nice in fact. “I was thinking, you’re pretty smart-“
“Not just smart, I’d say I’m on par with Einstein’s level of genius” Donnie interrupted you quickly. You cleared your throat, shooting him a glare as you started to rock back and forth on your heels, “as I was saying, I have some things I’ve been working on for a while, I think they may be more useful to you and your brothers.” You concluded, but it was Donnie’s turn to raise an eyebrow. “What things exactly?”
One day later, and you were back in the sewers, specifically in the common area of the lair. The suitcase you had brought down was popped open, and Raph and Mikey were peering inside as you grabbed the first weapon. “So this isn’t the most dangerous thing I’ve built but I’d say freezing people solid is pretty handy when it comes to vigilante work!” You said, pointing the gun up in the air for safe measure. Donnie was on the far side of the room, and the look on his face was close to outrage. You wanted to give his brothers cool weapons??? That was his job! Plus they didn’t need weapons, they already had weapons. Sure they didn’t freeze people, BUT they did not need your things. If anything his brothers should only want—
“Cool! Can I try??” Mikey was making grabby hands for the freeze ray and you readily handed it over. “Just be careful, the safety’s off.” You said and no sooner had you spoken a blast was shot, near poor Leo, who was quick enough to move completely out of the way. “Hey!” Leo screeched, turning his face to see the pizza boxes that had been piling up had turned into ice. “Woah,” Leo breathed out, impressed. Raph took the weapon from Mikey, not trusting him to have another shot accidentally go off. “Heh, whoops!” Mikey said sheepishly as he ran over to the block of iced pizza boxes.
“You guys think that’s cool??” Donnie piped up from across the room. He made a mad dash to his lab, going over to the glass box that read ‘BETA’ and grabbed the first thing he could get his hands on. He was back in the common area in no time, “Feast your eyes on this,” From what you could tell he was holding a weapon much like yours, shaped like a gun. He flicked a switch, aiming in your direction, “Donnie!” Raph warned, but he pulled the trigger anyway. A blast shot past your face, inches away until it landed on the recliner by the projector. On impact it shrunk two times its normal size! “A shrink ray?!” Mikey exclaimed, running to go pick up the mini sized chair. Donnie’s weapon was now directed up in the air, resting on his shoulder, he had a smug smile on his face, daring you to top that.
Game on! It was a battle of who could outshine the other. All inventions were being put on showcase for the brothers and eventually April (who had just gotten out of her last class) to ‘ohh’ and ‘ahh’ at. Weapon after weapon, prototype after prototype. Until the really dangerous shit was coming out to play. “ALRIGHT,” Donnie said, skidding to a stop for the seventh time. The trip to his lab to the living room was getting to be a bit tiring. He pointed the most dangerous thing he had, directly at you. You did the same, out of your suitcase came a wicked looking weapon, and you clicked the safety off, aiming at Donnie’s face. The two of you were huffing angrily at one another.
“This place is about to blow,” April whispered to Leo. Popcorn had been popped, everyone enjoying the show the two of you were putting on. “Yeah, and my bet is on Donnie,” Leo added smugly, holding up a fake five dollar bill. He had a knack for sneaking monopoly money when no one was paying attention. And for some reason he still had it. April snorted, “You’re on, you have no idea how crazy Y/n really is,” April held up her own five, that one being real.
“Last chance Y/n,” Donnie took a deep breath, calming himself. He was watching you carefully, one finger ready to pull back the trigger. Y/n rolled their eyes, shifting their weight to one side, then glanced up at the purple clad turtle, “Oh? I was quite certain you were going to back out by now,” a mischievous glint could be seen in your eyes. Donnie gritted his teeth, he was not about to get punked by you. “Guyssss how about we call this a tie!” Mikey breathed out nervously. Twiddling his thumbs together as he came to stand between the two of you. “Only if Y/n admits my weapon is better!” Donnie hollered over Mikey and your eyes narrowed, “Not happening,” you said immediately. Raph spoke up then, “what exactly do those guns do?” You and Donnie were talking over one another not making much sense but the gist was, BOOM. The place would go boom.
“Okay,” Raph nodded, “PUT THE WEAPONS DOWN!” He yelled at the both of you. Simultaneously it was like all the air had been sucked out of the room as slowly, the two of you listened, weapons going down to your respective sides. “Mine’s better,” Donnie muttered, and you scoffed. “It was never a competition! I just wanted to—“ and you stopped yourself. You took in a deep breath, stalked forward, you weren’t about to admit this to the entire room. You brushed past the purple turtle. He had expected you to flash out once you reached him but you just kept walking, to his lab he assumed and immediately he was following after you.
“Should we make sure they don’t kill each other in a different room?” April thought aloud. Leo’s hand made a swipe in the air, “Nahhh I’ll bet another $5” he quickly held up another fake, “that everything figures itself out!” Mikey was scurrying over making his own bets and Raph was wondering if this was the smartest thing to do right about now. When just a couple of minutes ago the place could’ve gone boom! But he was quickly being dragged into Leo and April’s betting game.
As soon as Donnie passed the threshold of his lab, you were there, backing him into the door as it shut behind him. “What’re you—?!” Donnie exclaimed not liking the close proximity at all. “That’s what I should be asking you! I thought we were finally getting along?” You accused, waving the weapon around that was still in your hand. “Yeah that was until you decided to showboat and try to take my job!” Donnie surmised angrily. “You got issues because all I was trying to do was help!” You confessed as you threw the weapon to the ground in frustration. “We don’t need your help.” Donnie sneered, wanting to get his point across, he was the tech guy, he was the genius, they didn’t need a second.
You jabbed a finger straight into his plastron. “I knew it. I knew you were just some self-obsessed, ego-maniac, who only cares about himself.” You were met with a hard stare. You waited for him to challenge that, to dare and say you were wrong. “Oh yeah? Well you—“ his own fists clenching, “are the most privileged, prissy, judgmental person I’ve ever met!” You smirked, batting away his insults with a, “and how many people have you met exactly?” Insinuating mutant turtles don’t exactly have much of a social life. “Fuck you,” Donnie glowered. “Fuck you too.” And somewhere along the insults and the arguing the two of you had gotten pressed together. It was silent for a moment as the two of you realized this, your eyes widening if only slightly as Donnie’s breath fanned your face.
He was looking at you carefully, noting your surprise and the way your breath quickened. You saw the way his eyes darted to your lips, and the way he swallowed. Fuck it! You both thought as your heads came crashing to one another. Lips meeting and teeth clacking, it was a brutal kiss. Heated passion that was stoked by the fire of anger and attraction. His hands were pulling you impossibly closer, going around your waist. Your own hands were pressed against his upper plastron. Moments passed until air was needed and your head moved back slightly to gulp down oxygen. “You drive me crazy,” Donnie said, meeting your lips once more, not letting you rest. You kissed him back feverishly, agreeing wholeheartedly, he drove you crazy too. “So is this a truce?” You panted as he drew back to breath. “For now..” he smirked, already enjoying the effect he had on you. You shook your head, was it possible for his ego to get any larger? One of his hands came up and his fingers caught your chin, lifting it and his lips met yours one more time. This kiss was softer, but it took your breath away all the same. “I guess your inventions aren’t half-bad” he murmured against your lips. You smiled smugly, “Damn right!”

🧩 summary: your babysitting gig is working better than planned, but things are heating up between you and your best friend Niki. req by: @chaenqen
🧩 cw: swearing, suggestive flirting, kissing
🧩 wc: 2.7k ❀ part 1
Tumblr media
You remember this like it was yesterday. You and Niki had finished your first job and he ended the night by kissing you on the cheek.
You and Niki have been doing surprisingly well with this babysitting business. You had already made over $3,500 in less than 3 months and Niki was doing much better with the kids now. You decided to continue running your business through Instagram and just link a PDF file showing the pricing. It was just easier to watch one platform.
Of course, you had your best customer, Valerie, and her son James. She booked you guys every Friday now, and Niki and James have grown much closer. He's almost like a big brother to him. It's always cute to see them together.
In fact, last Friday was the first time you ever watched James at his house. She knew this was gonna be expensive, but she wanted you to keep him overnight and she would return the following morning. The reason this time was their anniversary, and her husband wanted to take her out of town.
Valerie gave us extra money to buy pizza for dinner, but Niki wanted to make taiyaki for James. "What's taco-ya-key?" James asked as he sat across the counter watching Niki mix the batter. "Taiyaki," Niki chuckled. "Oops tie-yaki," James giggled back. "It's like a dessert. Trust you're gonna love it," Niki said as he pulled out the mold.
"Umm does it taste like fish or something?" James asked tilting his head to the side. "Huh? What kind of dessert has fish in it?" "I think he might be confused by the mold Niki." "Oh. My bad. No, there's no fish in here. Unless you want some." "No way!" James said clenching his teeth together and shaking his head. "You sure? It might be better than you think," Niki smiled. "Uhn uhn," James said shaking his head once more. Niki poured the batter on the first side. "Niki, can I help?" James said, stopping Niki as he scooped the second spoon. "Oh, sure," Niki replied before picking James up out of his chair making him giggle a bit. "Okay, just pour the batter on the empty side over here." "Okay. I hope I don't make a mess." "If you do it's okay, I'll clean it up. But be careful, it's hot." James poured the batter on the other side spilling a few drops as he moved the spoon away.
"Oops." "Don't worry. I got it," Niki said placing James on the ground. Niki walked over to the sink to grab a wet towel, but when he turned around he saw that James was already on the ground wiping the batter up with his shirt. "You didn't have to do that. I told you I got it." "It's okay, Niki. I don't mind." "Yea, but now your shirt is dirty." "That's okay. I can change it." Niki patted James on the head. "Alright, well we can change it after we're done. The taiyaki still needs filling." "How are you gonna fill it?" "Y/N filled a piping bag with a chocolate filling while we were busy making a mess," Niki giggled. "Can I do it?" "Of course, you can," Niki said before coming to get the bag from you and handing it to James.
"Okay just pipe one straight line," Niki said as placed James on the countertop. "Okay," James said focusing hard on the stream of thick chocolate filling coming out of the bag. This time he was careful not to spill anything this time. "Niki, look! I did it!" James said, eyeing Niki for validation. "I see. You did a really good job too," Niki smiled. "And I didn't make a mess either," James smiled proudly. "Hehe, awesome!" James held up his hand and Niki gave him a high five. "Yes!" James shouted. Niki closed the mold to finish cooking the dessert.
While those two were busy playing around, you cleaned the kitchen around them and ordered the pizza. There was no way you were gonna let James only eat taiyaki for dinner. It was so cute to watch Niki bond so well with James. "It's crazy to think how they were when they first met," you chuckled to yourself.
*DING DONG*
"Boys! Pizza's here!" you exclaimed after closing the front door.
"Yay! Pizza!" James jumped as he ran to the table.
"Be careful," Niki said as James hopped into the chair. "When'd you order this?" he continued.
"While you two were busy with your Father-Son bonding time," you teased.
"Psh, whatever," he said giving you a cheeky look.
You fixed James a plate of pepperoni pizza with broccoli and cheese. "Thank you," he smiled before picking up a piece of broccoli. Afterward, you all sat down at the table to eat dinner together.
Niki and James finished up first and went to the living room to watch TV. James had been trying to get Niki to watch Thomas with him, and now he finally had the opportunity. "Which character do you like?" James asked as they watched the show together. "I like the red one...James right?" "Yep," James smiled before snuggling under Niki's arm. You joined them on the couch, sitting on the opposite side of Niki, resting your head on his shoulder. The sound of talking trains faded away as the three of you fell asleep together.
You woke up after some time to see James resting peacefully on Niki's lap. And, to your surprise, Niki had his arm wrapped around you. Your subtle movements were enough to wake Niki out of his sleep. "What time is it?" Niki groaned in a raspy voice. "Uhh...I don't really know. 12, maybe?" "Mmm, lemme check my phone," Niki said before noticing that James was lying on his lap. "Hmm, or maybe not," he continued before letting out a muffled yawn. "We should probably take him to his room." "Yea, I'll go pull his covers back," you said before getting up to leave the room. You still couldn't get over the fact that Niki had his arm around you. "Hold on, I'm coming with you," Niki said as he lifted James's sleepy body into his arms. The two of you walked to his room and turned on a night light. You pulled the covers back and Niki walked over to lay James down.
You and Niki headed back to the living room. "I'm kinda in the mood for a snack now. What about you?" Niki said as he walked to the kitchen. "Hmm, me too." "I have some more batter left. I'll make us some taiyaki and we can eat that unless you want something else." "No that's good."
Niki carried over 3 taiyaki. "We can split the ext--" Niki paused mid-sentence as he spotted James rubbing his eyes and walking over to you. "M-mommy," James mumbled as he crawled on the couch next to you. "No, it's me, James," you said as he looked up at you. "Sorry. I keep almost calling you that," James said shaking the little sleep out of his eyes. "Well, since you're here do you want the extra taiyaki?" Niki asked handing him the warm treat wrapped in a napkin. "Yes, thank you," he smiled before taking a big bite out of the fish-shaped snack.
Niki turned on the train cartoon for James, before whispering in your ear, "I guess we're Mommy and Daddy now, huh?" hearing this made you blush. "N-Niki." "What? We obviously make a pretty good team. Don't you think?" You were speechless. This behavior was odd, even for Niki. Or maybe it just felt different because of the way you woke up earlier.
Anyways, this Wednesday Valerie booked you to monitor a play date between James and a few of her friends' kids around the same age. As usual, she sent you her information and the information of the other kids. You were instructed to meet them at her house.
Fortunately, you had already been there before, which made finding things much easier.
“Ok, the kids will be over here in about 30 minutes. I just need you guys to set up the table and put these drinks in the fridge,” Valerie said handing you multiple juice boxes. “You want to make sure the kids have everything they need until we get back.” She said as she scanned a yellow piece of notepaper. “This has everything you need to know and everything that should be done in case of an emergency. We have two medkits. One under the kitchen cabinet and one behind the bathroom mirror. I'm gonna go finish getting dressed now, don't forget to call me if you need anything else. I really appreciate your business. The two of you have truly been a blessing to me and my son.” Valerie continued prancing around for a few minutes before walking back to her room to finish getting dressed. James was busy watching TV on the couch while you and Niki finished preparing for the playdate.
"This should be fun," you awkwardly smiled at Niki. "Well, this is the first time we had to supervise a playdate with multiple kids. So, I hope it's fun."
*DING DONG*
"They're here," you said in unison, rushing to the door. You all exchanged greetings with the children's mothers as the group of kids ran to join James on the couch. "Val! You ready?" one of the women shouted. "Almost!" you heard her reply from a distance. Most of the women headed to the kitchen and began chatting about their plans, but one stayed behind.
You could tell that one of the women was fixated on Niki. She had been looking him up and down since she first laid eyes on him. She looked around 25 or 26 and stood around 5ft 6in. She wore a pair of 4-inch stilettos with her cold black hair slicked back into a ponytail. She was wearing a pair of tight-fitting jeans and a tailored red blouse, her outfit perfectly accentuated her slim/curvy figure.
"Sorry, I didn't get a chance to properly introduce myself. I'm Catherine. Annie's mom." she said in a seductive tone, careful not to break eye contact with Niki. "I'm Y/N." "And I'm Niki." "It's a pleasure to meet you, Niki. What inspired you to start working with kids?" she asked as she began toying with her necklace that sat right above her cleavage. *Me bitch. I'm the only reason we're doing this shit in the first place* you muttered to yourself.
"Umm...well actually it started off as a way to make extra money, but now I'm kinda finding enjoyment in the whole process." "Tell me more about yourself. What do you like to do in your free time?" *God, she should go wipe the drool from her stupid ass lips* "Well, I like to dance." "Oh, so you're a dancer huh? How about you show me a little something," she said as she walked over to grab his hand and place it around her waist. *No fucking way. Is she serious?* "Heh, okay," Niki replied as he started to do a sort of partner dance which Catherine used as an opportunity to sensually move her hips and roll her body against his.
You found this disgusting as hell but at the same time you kinda of wished he was dancing like that with you. You rolled your eyes as she giggled when Niki spun her around. "Hmm, you're pretty good with your body. I'd love to dance with you more often. Maybe you could even teach me a few things. I'm really good at following instructions," she smiled placing a hand on his chest. "Maybe," he smiled back. "I'll even pay you for your time." "Tempting, I'll definitely think about it."
"Ok, ladies. I'm ready!" Valerie smiled as she entered the living room. "If you ever feel like you wanna dance, call me," Catherine said pulling a pen out of her purse. She scribbled her number on his hand before leaving with the other women. "Bye, baby! Bye, Niki," she said as she walked out of the door.
"Ugh, good riddance," you scoffed. "What?" "Did you see the way she looked at you?" you shook your head. "What do you mean?" "I'm really good at following instructions," you mocked. Niki laughed at your impression of Catherine. "She was literally all over you." "We were dancing." "Ugh." "What? Do you wanna dance with me?" "Yes--no. I don't fucking care." "Right."
You and Niki pulled out a few toys and activities for the kids to do together. James played trains with one of the boys. Two other kids worked on puzzles together. And Annie was drawing pictures with another girl.
Fortunately, all of the kids were very well-behaved, but it was about time for a nap. You made sure to follow Valerie's explicitly detailed schedule. You put on a quiet movie and got them all blankets.
"James was telling us about taiyaki. He said it was a fish cake with chocolate inside. Can we have one after nap time?" Annie asked as you placed the blanket over her. You were surprised at how well she spoke at such a young age. "Yea. Can we try the fish stuff after naps?" Xavier chimed. "Niki?"
Niki was busy talking to James, but when he heard you call his name, he immediately turned to face you. "Yea, what's up?" "Do you mind making taiyaki for everyone after nap time?" "Oh yea sure. That's no problem," he smiled. "Yay!" the kids cheered in unison. "James must've been spilling all of our little secrets with everyone," he smiled as he ruffled James's hair. "Hehe, yea because you're so cool," he giggled. "I love you, Niki. You're the best big brother in the world," he smiled hugging Niki before laying down. "I love you too, James. Now get some rest so you can help me make the snack for everyone when you get up." "Really?! I can help?" "Of course. I think you put a secret ingredient inside because those were the best taiyaki I ever had in my life." "You're whole life? Wow," James yawned before slowly drifting off to sleep.
Niki must've caught you staring at him because he gave you a strange look as he walked over to you. But it was just something about the way he was with James. Seeing his "big brother" side was surprising, considering that Niki was usually the type to pop off for almost no reason at all.
Niki grabbed one of your hands and put the other one around your waist. "N-Niki? What are you doing?" "Dancing.'' You weren't the best dancer, but Niki made you feel very comfortable as he guided you around the kitchen floor. The dancing was brief, but you enjoyed it. You had never been this close to Niki...well not in this way. He stopped after spinning you around and landing in a position where you fell under his body. You braced yourself against the countertop as you looked up into his eyes. He leaned down to place a soft, delicate kiss on your lips. Nothing sensual, just sweet and romantic.
"As if," you scoffed. "How many times are you gonna keep kissing me?" "I've only kissed you twice. You must be referring to your fantasies," he teased. "Yea right. Why would I ever waste my energy thinking about something as stupid as a kiss?" "It's not a waste if you like it." "Well, I don't like it." "No? Well then I guess I won't do it anymore," he shrugged. "But--Whatever, I don't care. I'd be happier if you kept your damn lips to yourself anyway." "Are you sure about that?" "Yea, I'm sure." "Well, then I guess you wouldn't mind if I start helping Cath--" You cut him off, grabbed his hand, and aggressively wiped her number off of his hand with a wet towel. Niki burst into laughter. "I was only joking punk," he said before placing a kiss on your cheek. "Let's go watch a movie while we wait for them to wake up," Niki said walking over to the kitchen table and pulling out his phone. "I forgot to bring my laptop, so that'll have to work," he chuckled.

You woke up in better spirits the next morning, Danny felt. When he walked by the bathroom after getting dressed, he had to pause, you were humming the chorus to Heat Above, and he peeked into the room. You were standing in front of the mirror, finishing up your second French braid, one already done on your left side.  Your fingers twisted and weaved the strands of hair effortlessly as you hummed, as if muscle memory from years of practice.
Danny suddenly wanted to ask you where you learned, had you been a little girl at sleep away camp? A cheerleader who learned on the bus on the way to an away game? Or was it time spent with your mother who told you stories as she braided, as you sat in front of her cross-legged on the floor. He wanted to know everything you would tell him about yourself, craved it, nearly. Danny didn’t realize he’d been caught staring until he realized you’d stopped humming.
“Sorry,” he blushed slightly, feeling like he was caught with his hand in the cookie jar. He met your eyes in the mirror with an apologetic smile.
“I’m the one who should be sorry,” you replied, twisting your hair tie around the end of the braid, securing it tightly. Turning you blinked up at him. “I drooled on your pillow last night.”
Danny laughed. After coming to bed, he slid in on your side, realizing his was completely taken as you snuggled into his pillow. The smell of your lavender shampoo and conditioner had surrounded him and lulled him into a more restful sleep, thanks to his conversation with Sam. When he had woken, it was to a small, yet pleasant surprise. You had rolled again in your sleep this time coming back to your side, and you had snuggled close to Danny. He had woken up to your legs tangled with his. Your toes had been cold, like you had them out of the blanket at some point in the early morning.
He took care to make sure they were warmed before he untangled himself from you, feeling more certain that Sam was right with his hypothesis. He shook himself from his thoughts as you spoke again.
“Actually I wanted to say sorry for how I acted last night.” You sighed, rubbing your arm anxiously. “I wasn’t upset with you or anything. I guess…I guess I just feel like we’ve gotten close in the past few days, and when I mixed up Jake and Josh, and you said it’s okay as long as it’s not to their faces…” Danny watched as you bit your lip, avoiding eye contact as your cheeks heated up. “It just reminded me that I’ll never meet them. After this week, there’s no reason for us to be together.
“Oh honey,” Danny sighed. There was a small pang of sadness that friendship was the only thing on your mind, but he decided that friendship was better than nothing at all. “We can still hang out after this is over. I would love that.” he watched your eyes light up.
“Really?” a small, hopeful smile graced your face.
“Yeah, really.” Danny chuckled. “You’re not like any other I’ve worked with. Now come on, we gotta finish packing for our camp out.”
There was a small tingling in your chest when Danny told you that you weren’t like any other he’d worked with. You’d come to terms earlier that morning that part of the reason you would miss Danny was that you had started to develop a small crush on the young man. Talking yourself through it in your head, you convinced yourself it was just because of the act the two of you were putting on. Danny was a brilliant actor, and it was like being back in the high school theater club.
Once this weekend was over, you’d lose the crush on Danny and it would be a beautiful friendship. Once you were back in your own bed in your own apartment, you would realize it was just a silly little moment, nothing more than a passing fancy.
By the time the two of you made it down to the lobby, two vans were waiting, overnight bags being tossed into the back of each. Danny had slung yours over his shoulder and went to load it up when Olivia came around, laying a hand on your shoulder.
“Hey,” she looked slightly perplexed. “Gavin and Naomi are riding in our van, are you going to be okay with that? I know seeing her yesterday wasn’t easy.”
“I’ll be fine.” you shrugged. You watched behind her as Danny came back around the van, smiling and laughing at something Mila, another bridesmaid, had said. “I won’t be alone.”
“I’m really happy for you,” Olivia mused after she turned to see what you were looking at. “I know the breakup with Gavin was rough, but you seem to be really, really happy with Danny.”
“I am, yeah,” nodding, you felt a blush creep up your neck and to your cheeks. You were, as it turned out, happy with Danny, even if the relationship was fictitious. He was turning into a great friend, at the very least.
“And the way he looks at you? I’m the one getting married and my fiancé doesn’t even look at me like that!” Olivia giggled. “Really, I’m honestly getting a little jealous.”
“What do you mean?” you asked, trying not to seem as confused as you were. Olivia rolled her eyes, turning and looking at Danny again before coming and standing beside you.
“I mean that,” she said, nodding out to the small crowd by the van. You followed her gaze, only to see Danny looking at you from under the bill of his hat, a soft smile pulling into a crooked grin as he caught your eye. “That man is head over heels for you.”
“Stop,” you shook your head. There was a part of your heart that leapt with excitement at her words, wanting to believe that your small crush was reciprocated. But you knew better, he was doing his job, playing the role you hired him to.
“Babe, if you ask me? I think you’ll be walking down the aisle next.” Olivia’s eyes twinkled, and you could practically see her shifting into planning mode again.
“Don’t hold your breath,” you laughed, and Olivia frowned. You had meant it as a small joke to yourself, knowing this relationship would end shortly, but she took it as hesitancy from your past.
“You can’t think like that.” she stepped in front of you again. “Not every guy is Gavin. And Danny seems different. You told me he was yourself.”
“Yeah,” you gave her a small, reassuring smile.
“Alright, let’s load up!” Mike called out. Everyone dispersed to their vans. Danny let you get in before joining you in the middle, making Gavin and Naomi take the far back. Thomas and his wife climbed in next to him and you squeezed in towards the window.
Mike got into the driver's seat, Olivia next to him in the passenger. He started the van and you watched as the vineyard passed by you slowly. Next to you, Danny was plugging his earphones into his phone, opening up the music app from the night before. Catching you look, he held out the right earbud in his large palm, gesturing for you to take it. Placing it in your ear, he did the same with the left one.
“Can we listen to more of your band?” you asked softly. Danny smiled, nodding and looking them up again, pressing play and shuffle. You grinned, turning back towards the window, watching the scenery pass by. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught movement, and glanced over to see your knee moving up and down as you tapped your foot along to the beat. There was a smile on your face like the night before when you listened to Heat Above and Danny found himself lost in watching you experience his work.
He looked away, trying not to be caught spying on you yet again, but it was too late. In the rearview, Olivia’s bright eyes were twinkling up at him, a knowing smirk on her face. Danny blushed, focusing back on his phone screen before staring out the windshield, avoiding the mirror at all costs. However, he could keep his eyes from you, especially when you started nodding your head to The Falling Sky.
Danny imagined what it would be like for you to see him play live. If you would enjoy it as much as you seemed to be enjoying the recordings. His imagination led him to see you in the stands, where friends and family typically sat, and he had to bite back a smile as he thought of pointing his drumstick to you, much like Jake would occasionally point his guitar towards his partner, and the smile on your face as you watched him play, and play for you.
The vision of you backstage, running towards him after a show, excited to congratulate him and jumping into his tired, sweaty arms made his heart thrum in his chest. The kisses you would pepper all over his face, telling him how wonderful he was and how you couldn’t wait to get him home.
You’d made it through most of his discography before the van was stopped on a wide field. There were tents already set up, a large fire pit in the middle of the circle a few feet away. The turning foliage gave a breathtaking view you would never forget in your life. Danny stood next to your side, looking out towards the woods, the same glimmer in his eyes.
“I love the fall,” you sighed. “I wish it would look like this all the time.”
“Agreed,” Danny nodded.
“Alright, we have a few activities planned for the day!” Olivia clapped her hands excitedly, drawing the attention to her as she spoke. “Go put your things in your tents and meet over by the field in ten!”
You and Danny made your way to the back of your van, and you waited for Danny to hand you your overnight bag, but he slung it over his shoulder with ease as he also carried his own. Picking a tent in the middle, you undid the zipper, ushering Danny inside before following him. You expected something of Olivia’s tastes, somehow she would weasel an actual bed into the tents, bedside tables, the works, but you were surprised to see merely a full sized air mattress, a sleeping bag adoring it with two pillows.
“This’ll be cozy.” Danny chuckled to himself, letting the overnight bags slide off his shoulders and onto the polyester floor of the tent. Nodding along, you sighed, feeling how hard the chilly ground was under your feet, even through the tent.
“I haven’t been camping since I was a little kid.” you admitted. “And it was girl scout camp so…it wasn’t even close to this.”
“Really? No roughing it in the girl scouts?” shaking your head, Danny laughed.
“Most tents at the campgrounds I went to were up on platforms, off the ground. And we had cots.” you laughed. “Boy scouts definitely had it rougher.”
“Yeah, we were out foraging for food, eating pine cones and hunting squirrels.” Danny made himself look tough, flexing his bicep.
“I’m so sure,” rolling your eyes, you moved to the open flap of the tent, stepping out. “Well who knows, we may need your survival instincts tonight.”
“I think I still have some hunting skills in me.” Danny followed you out, and the two of you walked back over to the field Olivia had pointed out earlier. Still talking about hunting, Danny was poised as if he were shooting a bow and arrow as you came upon the rest of the group lingering around.
Mike walked up from his and Olivia’s tent, wearing red, super short-shorts, with a white t-shirt tucked into them. His socks were pulled up his calves and a whistle hung around his neck. In his left hand was a clipboard, in the other, a bullhorn.
“Oh no,” you grimaced as he stood in front of the group and raised the bull horn to his lips.
“You all must be wondering why we’ve brought you out here from that luxurious hotel to a field in the middle of nowhere.” Mike said, his words echoing loudly. “On Saturday, Olivia and I will come together in holy matrimony. But today, we are two individuals, and we are competing against each other for the ultimate prize.”
“A blowie on the wedding night?” one of the groomsmen called you, making you roll your eyes as Olivia flipped him off.
“No, Logan,” Mike shouted in his direction, glaring. He turned back towards everyone and grinned. “Bragging rights on whose side of the wedding party was better.” Olivia took the bullhorn from Mike, grinning.
“Bridesmaids, obviously.” She gave Mike a gentle, playful shove. “We’ve devised a few games that pit the bridesmaids against the groomsmen. Dates, you are allowed to play, but you have to play on the side you came with.” Danny nudged you with his elbow, whispering a little ‘hello teammate’ before turning back and listening to the rest of Olivia and Mike’s spiel.
The games of the day were flag football, blind volleyball, and of course, beer pong. After a few moments, you were suited with a belt, three neon red flags hanging off it. Danny had matching ones himself, grinning while you swiped your thumbs across the tops of his cheeks, leaving eye black in their wake.
“There, now we look like professional athletes.” you laughed under your breath. Danny took his baseball cap, turning it around so the bill was in the back and nodded.
“Let’s go kick some ass!” he urged.
“That’s the spirit!!” Olivia cheered, clapping her hands. “Let’s demolish them!” Lining up on the field, you stood next to Olivia, ready to play offense. Your best friend was mean-mugging her own fiance, both of them talking shit to one another.
“Why do I feel like this is just weird foreplay for them?” Danny whispered to you as they shook hands, winking at one another.
“It probably is.” you replied with a shrug. “You have to leave their house after game night if you don’t want to have nightmares fueled by their moans.” it was Danny’s turn to grimace, sticking out his tongue like he tasted something sour. Shaking it off, he got back into formation, looking down the line of groomsmen. As his eyes traveled, they met with Gavin’s, who flickered to you and back him Danny, narrowing slightly. Danny mirrored the action, a sudden overwhelming urge to make this game a contact sport bubbling up in his stomach.
“Set, hut, hike!” Mike called, starting the first play. The movement on the field was fast, everyone getting the competitive edge as the game started. Somehow you ended up with the ball, running towards the opposite goal from where you started. A thrill ran through you as you dodged Thomas’ outstretched hand, trying to pull one of your flags, a shrill excited yip leaving your mouth as you jumped out of the way.
You surprised yourself, making it to the endzone of the field, throwing the football down onto the ground and raising your arms above your head as you and the rest of your team cheered. You were lifted into the air, Danny’s arms wrapping around you and lifting you up.
“Bridesmaids one, groomsmen a big fat zero!!” Mila lifted up her fingers in the shape of an L to her forehead, making faces at the groomsmen.
“Lucky shot.” Gavin called out. Danny couldn’t help the glare that he shot over to the man as he set you down. “Haven’t seen you run like that since junior year in college, when you streaked across the frat houses yards.” Danny moved to speak in your defense, but was surprised when you cut him off.
“Yeah? Well someone had to have the balls in our relationship, didn’t they?” you didn’t stay for a reply, instead turning with so much purpose your braids flicked out behind you, nearly whipping the air as you moved. Danny smirked at Gavin’s shocked face, raising his eyebrows challengingly before following you back to the center of the field.
“Streaking, huh?” Danny leaned down, snickering in your ear playfully.
“Like everyone else, I made choices in college, some good, some bad.” you shot him a small glare. “Most were under the influence of Jager bombs.” Danny laughed before getting back into position, and continuing the game.
It was a little while later, one flag dangling from your belt as you’d gotten “tackled” the second time you were in position with the ball. The play was called and you ended up with it again, tucking it into your body and bolting across the field. You felt it before you saw it. Something catching your ankle and forcing you to tumble to the ground, the ball falling out of your grip and rolling away.
“Out!” you heard someone call. “She’s out!”
“You tripped her!” rolling onto your back, you pushed yourself to a sitting position, watching Danny point angrily at Gavin as he rushed over to you.
“She fell when I grabbed her flag!” Gavin defended. “Not my fault she’s clumsy as hell.” Danny knelt next to you, looking over your body.
“You okay?” he asked softly. Reaching up, he wiped some dirt off your cheek.
“I’m fine,” you mumbled. “My ankle doesn’t feel great.” Danny moved his hand to the ankle you pointed to, gently squeezing. You felt a small jolt of pain, as if he were poking a bruise, and you winced.
“I swear to god if she has to wear a cast in my wedding I will make you regret being born!” Olivia threatened Gavin off in the distance.
“Okay, let’s get you to the sidelines, honey.” Danny maneuvered himself into a crouching position, wrapping your arm around his shoulders and taking your waist with one of his, lifting you up.
“It’s not that bad,” you protested as he moved you. Trying to put your weight on it for a step, you sucked in a sharp breath through your teeth. You quieted down as he brought you to a camping chair next to a cooler filled with drinks and water,  helping you sit. Thomas came over, taking a look at your ankle, using his medical background to see how bad it was.
“I think you’ll be okay,” he assured you. “Just a minor sprain, more like a rolled ankle. You’ll have to try and stay off it for a little bit.” Frowning, you looked up to Danny who was glaring towards where Gavin was getting a talking to from Mike while Naomi looked pissed and annoyed off to the side. Reaching out, you took his hand, tugging it and bringing his attention back to you.
“I’m fine,” you told him again. “I’m just going to have to sit out the rest of the games.”
“He tripped you,” Danny shook his head, his brows knit together in the middle of his forehead.
“And he’ll never hear the end of it from Olivia and Mike, I promise.” Danny sucked his teeth as the game started back up, becoming more upset Gavin was still in the game.
“He wants to make this a contact sport, he’ll get a contact sport.” Danny mumbled to himself, shaking his hand loose of yours and jogging to the middle of the field. Gavin wasn’t going to get away from what he did unscathed. Danny could hear his mother in his head, reminding him in her kind voice that an eye for an eye solves nothing, but he shook the adage away. While it wouldn’t solve much, it would provide Danny with satisfaction for the time being.
The play started, and just as he wanted, Gavin got the ball. Danny dashed after the other man, weaving in and out of the other players before launching at Gavin, reaching out for his two remaining flags, tearing them off and knocking the man hard to the ground in the process.
“What the fuck?!” Gavin growled as Danny stood back up, grinning with the flags in his hands.
“You’re out.” Danny replied simply. “Not my fault you’re so clumsy.” Danny tossed the flags to the ground before joining you on the sidelines, catching his breath.
“Danny,” you stared up at him.
“He deserved it.” was all Danny told you before picking up a bottle of water from the cooler. While the show of masculinity should’ve made you upset and roll your eyes, you instead felt flattered that Danny stood up for you like that. You would have to have a conversation with him that it couldn’t happen again this week, you didn’t hire him to fight your ex. Just to make being around him more bearable.
You sat out from the rest of the games, getting up a few times to walk when Thomas would advise it. By the time beer pong was over, it was getting dark, and most everyone had gathered around the firepit back at the tents, roasting weenies. You had gotten up to walk a bit, Danny watching carefully as you did a lap around the tents before coming back.
The autumn night air was chilly, and in your thin, long-sleeved t-shirt you were becoming susceptible to the cold. You had dipped into the tent, searching through your bag before realizing the hoodie you thought you had packed was still laying on the hotel bed where you set it down to make sure you’d packed your toothbrush and toothpaste.
When you came back from the tent, you were visibly shivering, even with the fire roaring in front of you. Without thinking, Danny stood up and pulled off his sweater, the soft material still warm from his body, and handed it to you.
“Put that on,” he insisted, tugging down the black t-shirt he had worn underneath it. The cream and black sweater was calling to you, practically steaming with warmth as you took it.
“Won’t you get cold?” you asked, holding the sweater in your hands. Danny shook his head.
“I packed another sweatshirt. You wear this while it’s still warm, and I’ll be right back.” You began to pull the cozy sweater over your head, threading your arms through the sleeves, basking in Danny’s leftover body heat. Danny came back from your tent a few moments later, tugging a black sweatshirt over his head before putting his hat back on, backwards again. He sat down on a camping chair, taking a beer from Thomas, who was passing them around. You went to find a seat yourself when hands took your waist, pulling you backwards.
 Your bottom came into contact with something firm but soft, and you turned slightly to see Danny smiling at you, having tugged you onto his lap.
“Best seat in the house, honey.” he threw you a wink before sipping his beer, making your cheeks heat up. Danny could say multiple truths at this moment. One, that he did it because he wanted to keep you warm. Two, that he did it because he wanted you on his lap so he could hold you. And three, that he did it because Gavin had been staring at you off and on all day, and he wanted to remind the dick who you were with.
As the evening wore on, skewers were passed around, along with the fixings to make smores. Danny kept a hand on your hip as you leaned forward on his lap, holding your marshmallow over the fire. You twisted the metal skewer slowly, allowing the marshmallow to brown evenly. The sleeves of his sweater had been pushed up to avoid any mess, and he couldn’t help but revel in how good you looked in it.
“Okay, is everything ready?” you leaned back, turning on his lap. Danny nodded, picking up the graham cracker adorned with a large square of chocolate. Placing the toasted marshmallow on top, you took the other part of the cracker, using the edge to scrape the melty goodness off the metal and onto the chocolate before setting the skewer down on top of the cooler next to you. Taking the small dessert, you squished the crackers down, letting the marshmallow ooze from the sides, coating your fingers.
“You’re making a mess,” Danny laughed, taking one of your hands. His original idea was going to be grabbing a napkin for the sticky fingers you now had, but as he caught Gavin looking at you from his peripheral vision, he brought them to his mouth before looking back up at you, gently sucking the marshmallow off each one. In the glow of the fire, he couldn’t tell if you were blushing again, but your eyes were wide enough to tell him that if the sun had been out, your cheek would be even redder than before. He was quick and discreet with his movements. Someone would’ve thought, if caught, that he had just been giving quick, small kisses to your fingertips, over before it even started.
“T-Thank you,” you stuttered. Taking your hand back, you ignored the heat in your belly, whether from embarrassment or the sudden swirl of feelings that stirred up for Danny, you weren’t sure. You focused on taking a bite of the smore, biting off the corner of the small cookie sandwich. Humming to yourself, you enjoyed the delicacy, not having had a smore since you were at least a teenager, maybe younger. Turning, you silently offered it to Danny.
Danny looked up at you, ignoring the offer and instead leaned forward, tilting his head up and pressing his lips to the corner of yours. You could feel the warm tip of his tongue glide over your skin, sending a shiver down your spine. When he pulled back, his eyes sparkled mischievously.
“You had a little chocolate there,” his crooked smile made your stomach fill with butterflies as he leaned forward again, now taking a bite of the dessert you had originally offered him. “Mm, honey, you make a perfect smore.”
“Only for you, lover.” you replied, a smirk on your lips. If he could lay it on thick, so could you. Something lit behind Danny’s eyes and the hand that held your hip tugged you back into him a bit more firmly. You took another bite of the dessert before taking the bottle of beer out of Danny’s hand, licking your lips before taking a swig to wash down the sweetness.
Danny watched you as you did it, something setting fire to his stomach. Maybe it was the way you took the bottle without asking, as if he really was your partner and it was common place to share drinks with one another. Perhaps it was the way you’d licked your lips before pressing the mouth of the glass bottle to them so confidently.
Whatever it was, Danny found himself completely smitten as you handed the bottle back without looking, leaning forward to talk to Mila about her debacle with her bridesmaid dress alterations. It happened a few more times, you taking swigs from Danny’s beer, as if it was the most natural thing to do. Which for lovers, it should be. Instead of your friends surrounding him, he imagined it was his. That Sam was telling you some story and you were leaning forward to listen to him, maybe Rose was at your feet, waiting for a secret graham cracker treat you’d sneak to her when Sam finally looked away. You would fit in so well with his friends, he decided.
It wasn’t until bed that you and Danny really spoke again, both facing opposite sides of the tent as you changed into pajamas. You were walking better already, but were still trying to keep your full weight off of your ankle, so you took a little extra time.
“Thank you, by the way,” you turned your head softly, just enough to make sure he heard you, but not enough to see anything as he changed.
“For what?”
“Well, while I don’t condone what you did to get back at Gavin, I’ve never had someone stand up for me like that before.” you tried to fight the smile at the memory of Danny practically tackling Gavin to the ground, but failed.
“He’s an asshole,” Danny snorted quietly. He’d been done changing, waiting for your okay to turn around. “I don’t mean this as an insult, but I feel like he was one of the bad choices you made under the influence of those Jager bombs.”
Grimacing to yourself as you tugged the warm sweater Danny had lent you back over your head, you nodded.
“The Jager definitely didn’t help.” you adjusted the hem of the sweater. “Okay, I’m good.” both of you turned around, smiling softly as a small lull filled the gap between you both. “So, you have a tattoo?” you asked, glancing down at his covered bicep. “I saw it earlier, when you gave me this sweater.” Danny smiled.
“Yeah, two of them.” he turned and showed you the back of his ankle, where a thin, dainty rose was resting.
“I never noticed,” you told him. “The rose is beautiful, what’s the one on your arm?” Danny went into an explanation, talking about the moon phase he was born under and what the lines represented. “Wow, that’s really cool.”
“Do you have any?”
“Mm, no.” you shook your head. “I wouldn't mind getting one one day, but I don’t know what.” you and Danny continued your conversation softly, getting into the sleeping bag. The bag was big enough there was a good deal of space between your bodies. You were both laying on your stomachs, talking quietly in the dark, pillows bunched under your chins to prop yourselves up a bit.
“You know all about my ex,” you mentioned. “Can I know a little about yours?” Danny sighed softly. “You don’t have to, I’m sorry I even asked.”
“No it’s okay,” Danny shushed your apology. “We just were clashing a lot. She would be upset that I was gone for long stretches, playing shows and touring with the band, and then would be upset if I took time off, because that meant money was going to get tight. Really, I think she loved being my girlfriend more than she loved me.”
“She’s an idiot.” you murmured, making Danny laugh softly. “What? How could she be loved by someone like you and take it for granted? You’re fake in love with me and I feel spoiled rotten.”
“There’s this scene of people, when you’re in the music industry,” Danny started, resting his chin on his pillow and looking straight forward at the back wall of the tent. “They want to be around you for what you can give them, they want the status of dating a ‘rockstar’” Danny lifted his hands up in air quotes. “But they don’t want to deal with the actual lifestyle of being away from each other for long periods of time, or working late or when you just want to stay home for a night after going out and being followed and stalked by crazy fans.”
“It can’t be easy,” you replied back, “I’m sure you don’t want to leave someone you love either.”
“No, especially after finding out that they cheated on you with one of your buddies while you were gone.”
“What?!” Danny shushed you, and you covered your mouth as he chuckled slightly. “You too?”
“What can I say? We are kindred hearts.” your hand moved on its own, claiming a home on top of Danny’s closest one.
“Want me to body check her?” Danny laughed, turning his hand over and squeezing yours.
“I appreciate the offer, honey, but she left town with her tail between her legs, moved back to her home state and I haven’t heard from her since.”
“Well good,” you yawned. “But if she comes back, it’s on sight.”
“Duly noted.” Danny laughed again. The two of you talked for a little longer until you started drifting off, rolling over with your back to Danny. He himself drifted in and out of sleep, every sound outside the tent snapping him awake. On one such occasion, he heard a small shudder, looking around as it sounded close, like a small animal had gotten into or was trying to get in the tent.
Looking around, he furrowed his brow, trying to see in the dark after having his eyes closed for a while. It wasn’t until he looked down that he realized the sounds were coming from you. You were shivering again, Danny now could feel the movements on your side of the sleeping bag. Your teeth chattered softly, and he finally caved.
“Hey,” he said softly. “Come over here.” You turned, looking at him. “Come closer, you’re freezing.”
“I’m f-fine.” your chattering gave you away. The sleeves of his sweater were pulled over your hands as you sleepily mumbled.
“You’re not,” Danny shook his head. “I don’t mind, come on.” he watched you battle something behind your eyes before you shuffled over, pressing yourself into his chest. You sighed at the warmth, feeling it spread through you slowly as he reached behind you and zipped the sleeping bag up more, closing it up.
“So much better,” you murmured into his chest, feeling his hands rest themselves on your back, rubbing up and down slowly. Danny felt you nuzzle your nose into his sweatshirt, smiling softly as your body stopped quaking, the muscles starting to relax.
“I think your braids aren’t helping, you need to keep the heat in. Do you mind if I?” Danny gently tugged in one of the ends of the braids, and you shook your head. His long fingers took the hair ties out, sliding them onto his wrist before they undid the plaits, working up to your scalp. You would be lying if you said it didn’t feel amazing, his warm fingers gently grazing along your scalp, undoing the weaving and fluffing your hair out around you. Once he was satisfied with his work, his arms encircled you again, hands running up and down your back.
“Just think of that hot stone massage tomorrow,” he whispered. You moaned softly, imagining the warmth on your spine, following the path Danny’s hands were taking. “Nice and warm, soothing.”
“Mmm,” you felt sleep start to come to you, weighing down your eyelids as you burrowed as close as you could to Danny. The last traces of his cologne rested in his clothes, and the heady aroma of cedarwood and linen cushioned your slumber. Danny kept talking, faint whispers floating around you, sounding more and more distant as time slipped by.
Danny felt your breathing even out, yet he was content to stay as he was, keeping you warm. Glancing down, he pressed a soft, sweet kiss to the top of your head. The act caused you to stir slightly, and he froze, waiting for you to wake and ask him what that was, but instead you only adjusted your body, tangling your chilly ankles with his warm ones.
Throughout the night your bodies entangled more, and Danny’s own sought to keep the warmth it was so freely giving. When he awoke, he was flat on his back. However, you were flat in your front, splayed out on top of him, snoring lightly into the crook of his neck. One of his arms held you there, the other behind his head as an extra cushion.
His body felt tight, and a stretch surged through him before he could stop it, his body shifting and jostling you awake. Your eyes opened, looking around disorientedly before they came to focus on him. A sleepy smile graced your features as you looked down at him.
“G’morning,” Danny’s voice was filled with sleep still, slightly gravelly, rumbling from his chest, the feeling was something you wanted to memorize. He, on the other hand, was memorizing your smile, the way your wavy hair had frizzed slightly in the night.
“Morning,” yawning, you propped your chin on his chest. Danny’s hand came up from your back, twisting a strand of your hair. The now loose wave spun around his finger effortlessly.
“I like your hair like this.” Danny murmured. As you opened your mouth to respond, a soft smile forming around your words,, someone rapped their fist against the fabric of your tent.
“Up and at ‘em!” Olivia’s voice sang out. “We have appointments!” sighing, you removed yourself from Danny, your body missing him instantly. Danny felt the loss just as badly, and had you been his really, he would’ve pulled you back to him, hunkering down into the warmth and never coming back up for air.
Packing up, everyone piled their things back into the vans. Danny offered you an earbud again, and this time you let him play whatever he wanted, just happy to ignore Gavin and Naomi in the backseat. Getting back to the vineyard, Danny took your bag along with his, carrying them up the stairs for you.
“I’m gonna hop in the shower, then I have to meet Olivia downstairs for the spa.” you told Danny once back in your room.
“Okay,” he nodded. “Mike asked me to run into town with him. We should be back before you guys are done, but just in case I’m still gone, I promise I didn’t just run off.” you smiled.
“You’re the last person I would think to do that.”
“Good,” there was another small silence, yet it didn’t feel awkward at all. You left it at that, heading into the bathroom to wash the camping events off of you. You were almost sad, taking off the sweater Danny loaned you, knowing you’d have to give it back. Folding it gently and setting it on the bathroom counter, you finished undressing before stepping into the shower, wondering if there was any way you could possibly bargain with Danny to keep it after the weekend was over.

Line: "And the saddest fear comes creeping in." Location: HGTV taping.
Alright time for a brand new AU universe.
You guys don't know it but I have an AU idea in my head for HGTV Brettsey for YEARS.
I am not throwing away my shot.
***
Sometimes Sylvie feels guilty about the lie she and Matt are perpetrating for the world, but then she remembers what it felt like to essentially be blacklisted from working and decides a lie is better than being homeless and starving.
Besides, this lie hurts no one but themselves. They're the ones who have to forego love lives in order to pretend to be an engaged home renovation power couple.
Their friends Severide and Stella introduced them years ago. Matt's business-partner-slash-ex had left him in the lurch. She sold him her half of the business, which was great, but she left him without an interior designer. Sylvie's ex and former best friend had taken all of her clients and run her out of town so she was an interior designer without any work.
She met Stella on her first night in Chicago while the latter was bartending at a firefighter bar named Molly's. Sylvie literally cried into her beer about her misfortunes and Stella was quick to help.
"You know, you're an interior designer with no clients and my husband's best friend is a contractor with clients but no interior designer. Maybe the two of you could help each other out?"
It was the suggestion that changed her life.
Kelly and Stella hosted a dinner to introduce her to Matt and they got along like a house on fire. Matt is funny, genuine, and thoughtful. The opposite of her ex. They also had similar visions for a few of his current clients. His design ideas for construction reflected her favorite interior spaces to decorate. Professionally speaking, they were a match made in heaven.
And their clients' feedback reflected that. As business grew so did their friendship. But since things went horribly wrong with Harrison and Hope, Sylvie promised herself never to mix business and pleasure. Matt felt similarly, considering his history with his own ex. Which meant, no matter how close they became or how her feelings evolved, they would always only be friends.
Even when the world and HGTV thought otherwise.
They hadn't meant to perpetrate a fraud but they got the offer for the tv show, signed the contracts, and then found out about a terrible misunderstanding.
HGTV thought they were married.
That was the real reason they wanted to offer them the show. They wanted half reality television and half home renovation. If they weren't married then the show would have been cancelled.
It was a shot in the dark that they would be picked up for a full season anyway. So, after a lengthy discussion, they went along with the story and decided not to fully correct their misunderstanding. As a compromise and an attempt to assuage their guilt, they told HGTV they were engaged instead of married.
By some miracle, they bought it.
And now, three years later, their show is still going strong and the American public thinks they're happily engaged and on their way to wedded bliss.
Only in Sylvie's wildest dreams.
Of course over the last three years, her pretend love for Matt Casey has become full blown, head over heels, unconditional love. Not that he knows that. She's pretty certain he's none the wiser.
"Cut!"
Sylvie's jarred from her thoughts by the sudden yell and shakes herself back to the present, taking in Matt's concerned face.
"Hey, guys," he requests, smiling politely. "Can you give us a second?"
The director nods and sighs tiredly. "Yeah, sure thing. Take five, everyone! When we come back we'll pick back up with the initial property walk through."
Once the crew has dispersed, Matt gently pulls her aside with a guiding hand on the small of her back. "Are you okay?"
She bites her bottom lip and idly spins her engagement ring, a habit she's developed when she's anxious. "That meeting we had with the network this morning..."
"I thought we said we weren't going to worry about that today?" He asks her, with a soft scolding stare.
"We say a lot of things, Matt, but that doesn't mean they're all true."
He snorts and chuckles at her, taking her left hand in his to stop her from twirling her ring. "We'll work something out."
"Work something out?" She says in a harsh whisper. "They want us to set a wedding date. A wedding date for our extremely fake engagement. A wedding date that will be used to market the renovation deadline of our future home that we're going to take on in the midst of all of our other clients and responsibilities."
"They'll compensate us appropriately so we can scale back our clients and focus only on our house. The workload will be fine," he assures her.
Okay, but that's not even the biggest part of her concerns! How is he so calm? How is he okay with marrying her, a woman he doesn't love? "Great, I'm glad to hear about the workload," she replies dryly. "Nevermind the huge wedding they want us to have, film, and then promote as a tv special. That's not a big deal at all."
He sighs and the sound comes off as hopeless and wistful all at once. His callused fingers grip her chin and lift her face until they’re eye to eye. Once he has her full attention, he brushes a loose tendril of hair out of her eyes and tucks it behind her ear. The gesture makes her stomach swoop in the most delightfully nauseating way.
Ugh, why does she have to be in love with her best friend and business partner? Why is nothing in her life ever straight forward?
"Look, I get it, no one wants you to marry a guy you're not in love with, least of all me. But we'll find a way to stall them. We've gotten pretty good at it over the last few years. We'll think of something. For now, though, let the network think they're gonna finally get that wedding special they've always wanted. It'll keep them off our backs for a little while at least."
She doesn't like his tone. He doesn't sound like himself. Not the flirtatiously playful version of himself he usually is when they're filming anyway. This is solemn Matt Casey. The one she sees most often when he’s stressed or anxious or in some sort of emotional turmoil.
He was fine until she let her fears get the better of her and got distracted during a heavy filming day. For his sake, she needs to get it together. She can sort out how to bury her feelings for Matt and get them out of this mess later.
"You're right," she says, taking a slow and soothing breath. "We'll figure out. We always do. I mean, whatever else our fans think we are, we've always been a great team." She smiles warmly at him, hoping the expression leaves her faith in the two of them on full display. From the day they met, he's been nothing but exceptionally good to her. Even if his feelings have never gone beyond platonic. "I don't see that changing anytime soon."
He squeezes her hand with an earnestly devoted look on his face that's too beautiful to be misread. "Not if I can help it. There's no one else I'd rather be partners with than you."
He means business partners. She knows he does, but is it terrible of her to internally swoon anyway? God, she's so screwed. How did she let this happen and how can she get out of it unscathed?
Matt Casey's going to break her heart and he'll never even know it.

@babyitsmagic sent five times left:      ( five times the sender and receiver parted ways ) - for eli/max or ro/ash OR a mix of both if you wanna!!!
this was very obviously inspired by the similar one you wrote about ash/ro but i went with a mix <3
i. one of the hardest things about being immortal is never being able to truly set roots. the constant moving around can be exhausting. thankfully, eli and rowan have each other. it’s not as lonely as it could be, but sometimes they both wish they could have something more. their prayers seemed to be answered when they met ash and max. while they hadn’t become inseparable or the absolute best of friends, they had seemed to be on their way to something special, if only they’d had more time. but eli and rowan had already been there too long. it was difficult to have to say goodbye, to have to move on to the next town when they’d finally found others who might understand, but they were hopeful their paths would cross again someday.
ii. they should’ve been happy to see each other again. but things are different. eli and max are captaining pirate vessels with rowan and ash as their second in commands and that means there can be no playing nice. their crews wouldn’t allow it even if they’d tried. so instead of hugs and drinks and reminiscing, they’re lunging at each other in a fight that should end with two of them dead, but no one seems to be willing to take it that far. so their reunion is short lived, with no pleasantries exchanged. they fight hard, but not as hard as any are really capable of. once they’ve put on enough of a show, they part ways with reputations in tact, but at a hefty cost.
iii. rowan knows this was a mistake. not that she regrets it. she thinks she'd always be too curious to know what it was like and they both needed to get it out of their systems. but watching him sleep as she dresses quietly, she feels her chest ache in a way it never has before when she's slipped away into the night. she finds a scrap of paper and writes a quick note: "until we can sneak away again." she leaves the note on top of his clothes and hurries out of the room before she can do something stupid like convince herself it would be okay to wait until morning to leave. she hopes ash won't hate her too much for it the next time they cross paths, even if it would be easier if he did.
iv. when he sees max, eli curses under his breath. he might not be captaining a ship anymore, but that doesn't mean there's not a hell of a lotta history between them that max might want to hash out. but then she's grinning at him from the bar and next thing he knows, they're buying each other rounds of drinks and laughing at old stories. it's not the max he's used to, but it's a max he likes. he hears them calling his name from the door and he knows it's time to go. he pays for another round for max to apologize for calling the night short and leans in, pressing a kiss to her cheek to say goodbye. he thinks the fact that it had to be unexpected is the only reason he makes it out the door without max kicking his ass.
v. after giving the kids one last kiss and a big squeeze, rowan makes her way over to her brother and gives him a hug. "i'm not asking if you're sure because they've been here for five minutes and probably given you just as many reasons to try and back out, so thank you for taking them. if they do anything absolutely disastrous, you know how to find us." she honestly still can't believe she somehow conned max and eli into watching the kids so she and ash could have a breather, but she's not going to question it. eli brushes off her thanks and as they're walking out the door, he calls to them, "just remember this means you get ours next time!"

Exhale
September 24th 2001
Sam lights his last cigarette. It’s his first day of college. He can’t believe he’s even here.
He is supposed to meet up with some buddies from freshman orientation outside the chem lab. Class starts at 8:00 AM and it’s already 7:54 AM. They might be no-shows. He takes a long drag.
Sam doesn’t honestly know how people in college are supposed to behave. Unless you count the times Dean forced him to watch Animal House. If you’re going based on that, you ALWAYS skip an 8 AM, especially if it’s a Monday.
Not Sam, though. He has goals. He isn’t here on daddy’s money (laughable to even think about). He is going to quit smoking, try to make some friends, and become a lawyer. Sam is done hunting for good. He wants to make something of himself. He just wishes it didn’t mean Dean wasn’t in his life anymore.
God. He can’t even think about it. Sam knows that if he dwells, he’ll end up dropping out. All the pain of leaving, for nothing.
He lets the smoke billow from his mouth, then wipes a hand down his face, hard. Checks his watch again, 7:58 AM. He stamps out the rest of his cigarette and heads in.
-
Sam leaves his first class and pulls out his map of campus and his schedule. Next he's got freshman speech. That is definitely going to be hard. It isn't that Sam can't write a good speech. He definitely can. But, standing up there in front of everyone? His hands are sweating just thinking about it.
He rubs the back of his neck. Then he chews his nails. Cracks every knuckle. He lets out a frustrated sigh.
He pulls out his 'last' pack and lights up.
-
The next morning rolls around and Sam has the worst migraine of his existence. That includes the time Dean knocked him out cold sparring, only to later be thrown against the Impala by a ghoul. It doesn’t help that his roommate snores like an old man.
Sam had managed to cut back his smoking by half on the first day. He only had ten. Today he’ll aim for five.
He checks his schedule, then his watch. He was heading to grab some lunch at the dining hall, but he only has 18 minutes until calculus. His stomach growls.
Okay, having six won’t end the world. Sam grabs out a smoke and lights up as he walks. It’s a beautiful day, same as yesterday. It’s still weird to Sam that the only “weather” here is the occasional sprinkle. He stops outside the math building to finish his cigarette, when he notices someone is staring at him.
He ignores it. Sam isn’t a hunter anymore, there’s no reason this person could possibly be a threat. It does make him a little uncomfortable though, and his cigarette is only half gone.
The guy looks preppy. Polo shirt, khakis, the whole nine. Sam notes to himself to never, under any circumstances, dress like that guy. He might not be a hunter anymore, but no need to stray THAT far from what he knows.
Mr. Preppy saunters up to Sam as though he isn’t dressed like a little kid going to Sunday school. How cute, Sam thinks, this guy thinks he’s tough shit. Sam is ready to take this guy if he has to, but he would rather not get arrested on his second day.
“Hey man, can I get a smoke?”
“Uh, sure,” Sam hadn’t been expecting that. He pulls out his pack of Marlboros and hands one over to Mr. Preppy. He pulls out the zippo he stole from Dean and lights it.
“Thanks. I’m Brady. You?” Sam supposes he couldn’t have called him Mr. Preppy to his face, so Brady works.
“Sam. I’m Sam,” He says it around his cigarette and reaches out to shake Brady’s hand. “So, uh, are you in Calc 1 with Professor Touriev?”
“Sure am. I gotta be honest with you, Sam. Most kids who go here don’t smoke out in public. Bad for their image. They’d rather do lines at parties and stick their powdered noses up at a good cigarette,” Brady takes a long drag and closes his eyes like it’s the best thing he’s ever had.
“I’m actually trying to quit,” Sam ignores the comments about lines and powder. He doesn’t need to get mixed up in that right now. He has enough going against him.
“Oh, sure. Me too. You should try American Spirits. They’re healthier,” Sam figures he’ll have to look into that later. Maybe those could help him quit.
“We should probably head in. I think class is gonna start soon.”
They put out their cigarettes and head in, chatting about starting school and their home lives. Sam lies.
-
December 31st 2001
They’re in Brady’s dorm room getting ready and pregaming to go out when she knocks on the door. Brady lets her in and looks at Sam with a twinkle in his eye. Sam wonders what he’s up to.
“Sam, this is Jess. Jess, this is Sam. I just know we are going to be the bestest of friends,” Brady says with a big fat smile. It always amazes Sam just how outgoing Brady can be. The shots of tequila they've been taking probably don’t hurt either.
He supposes it’s a good thing since Brady is his only friend so far, but Sam really isn’t up for it. It’s bad enough that he and Brady are going out tonight.
Sam quietly gets up and offers Jess his hand, “It’s really nice to meet you Jess,” Sam hopes his smile reaches his eyes.
“You too, Sam,” Jess replies with a shy smile. Sam’s heart gives a heavy thud. Her eyes are as green as grass. It’s hard to tell around the smell of Axe body spray, but Sam smells cinnamon and whiskey on her.
Brady cuts in, clearly oblivious to the moment they’re having, “We got tequila and beer if you want something to drink.”
“No, I’m okay. I had a few shots of Fireball before I came. I’m ready to go when you guys are,” Sam is happy to hear that his senses are still sharp as ever. But, the color of Jess’s eyes and the smell of cheap whiskey make his heart hurt.
“Yeah, let’s get going. I gotta have a smoke,” Sam claims, breaking away from the group to go outside.
“Kinda seems like you took care of that already,” Jess says before he gets to the door. She must mean the weed. That was mostly Brady, Sam only had one hit.
Before Sam can respond, Brady does, “Nah, Sammy here is our resident fag enjoyer.”
Brady can be such a prick sometimes. Sam just rolls his eyes at Brady and holds up his pack of American Spirits towards Jess. He walks out without waiting.
He lights his cigarette and walks down the hall, ignoring looks from people as he passes by. Smoking inside is definitely frowned upon.
Sam chain smokes the entire way to the party.
-
11:43 PM
Sam has been sitting on the sofa, watching the people around him engage in things he only ever saw in movies, until he came to Stanford. He watches someone do an actual keg stand. Shortly thereafter, he watches a couple of blonde girls do lines of coke on the crappy coffee table.
Brady stumbles down the stairs and flops onto the couch next to him. Or rather, on half of Sam’s body.
“Dude. I’m totally gonna fuck Jess.”
“That’s nice, Brady,” Sam really isn’t in the mood to hear about his friend’s conquests. Especially not if the girl in question is Jess. Those eyes.
“Aw come on Sam, be happy for me!” Brady kisses Sam’s cheek and unsteadily stands to go back upstairs. Sam is coming to realize that he is not nearly drunk enough.
Sam gets up to get another beer and checks his watch, 11:51 PM. He hurries to the kitchen, grabs a beer from the cooler and chugs it in one go. Downs a second. Sam picks up one more, but this time, he sips it on his way out of the kitchen. His stomach feels like he’s about eight months pregnant, but he’s had worse.
He heads out to the front porch where everyone is smoking. Sam lights his 18th cigarette that day. So much for quitting.
With a beer in his hand and a cigarette between his lips, he’s transported right back to growing up with his brother, and well. John. Sam moved away from them. Yet, here he is. Same damn bad habits as his family.
As if to put the perfect bow on such a depressing line of thought, his phone starts to ring.
Sam pulls out the Nokia he bought off Brady and looks at the screen. He doesn’t have many contacts yet, so it just shows a number without a name. Sam isn’t sure if he should answer. The little screen says it’s 11:58 PM.
He clicks the answer button and puts it up to his ear.
“Hello?”
“Sammy?” Sam’s grip on his beer falters and it splatters all over his shoes.
“Dean?” He wheezes out.
“I just, uh, wanted to tell you, that I, uh… Happy New Year's, Sammy,” Dean stumbles over his words a little. He sounds miserable. Dean should never sound that way. What’s worse is that Sam knows he’s the reason.
The people around him start chanting, “Ten, nine…”
Sam is feeling the alcohol now. He needs Dean to know how much he misses him, “Dean, I’m so so sor-”
“Sam!” Jess bursts through the door behind Sam.
“Five, four…” people are still chanting as Jess grabs his face.
“Sam? I’m sorry too, okay. I miss y-” Sam thinks he hears Dean say on the phone. He can’t really hear over the fireworks now shooting overhead.
“Two, one! Happy New Year!” People all around them are yelling. Jess kisses him hard right on the lips.
Sam pulls back after a second or two, “Happy New Year’s, Jess. Please, I just need a minute.” She looks a little confused as he turns away from her.
He puts the phone back up to his ear to see if Dean is still there.
Nothing.

Dream journal, prior dreams to 10/11/23.
7/29/23
Dreamt I was at this big party at Nan and pap's but not their real house. Anyway a bunch of people I didn't know were there including some people for OpChan. The pary is fun and eventually most people go home so I'm still there cleaning up. I find Hendrix has bitten one of his claws off so I take him inside and get some paper towel cleaning off the blood and tell him to relax. Eventually as I'm walking around outside one guy I overhear is waiting for his wife to bring something. He's really upset so I give him a $2 bill from my wallet. He gives me a hug and says thanks, then I head a burning noise and he's beating up heroine on my shoulder to snort. For a second I'm shocked just that it's happening and he tells me it's cool and relax he just needs a bump. I pull back and get just enough space to wind up and punch him right in the face as hard as I can manage. Then Biff, who physically resembles a professional wrestler, flattens him. Fin.
8/3/23
Dreamt I was back in school. For some reason my sister was in the same class. It was laid out weird with students facing each other. Anyway the teacher was just walking around the room because class hadn't started yet. Someone said something about my sister's jacket, then another person pulled one of those one piece motorcycle suits out of the closet and I was thinking how much I'd like one. We all had big travel mugs (all without lids for some reason) full of pop - mine was Coca Cola.
8/5/23
I'm going through this big massive and I mean huge hospital that's also a theme park. I was there as a patient or something when I tan into Logan. He was also being discharged so we hung out. We eventually start walking around and we've gotta get past this big roller coaster. We think of just walking along the tracks but there's a section where they bend and we realize we couldn't get past that pet so we get down and go under. I realize that a bunch of people are losing their phones off the coaster and joke that you could make a decent living scrounging cell phones from here and re selling them. As I crawl around I find an Alton helmet and a Makarov too. Soon after logan walks away and I'm standing down the room as a black guy (looked like zeb c from work but wasn't him in the dream) comes around the corner. He asks me soemtning and pulls a gun and I return fire. We miss all our shots so I close knowing I've only got the one mag. I fire five shots point blank, all of which bounce off him (I knew this was a thing that could happen for some reason, like I was in a video game). I start running when he pulls an electric corded drill that's plugged into nothing but still works. I put on my Alton helmet and start running when I see an unloaded SKS. I grab it as I run and turn around and stick him with the bayonet but he's still coming. I get under a section of rollercoaster and use it like a wall as he keeps coming after me and I stab at him from under it. He produces an axe or machete and I dodge his swings as I keep stabbing. I'm yelling for Logan but he's long gone just walked away. Prior to this I was making some chicken sandwiches at home but home was sort of circular - like the rooms were all in a line around something. Like the outside of a spinning top toy. The fighting part was very tarkov like I guess?
8/20/23
awoke from a nightmare in the first time in I can't remember when. I was working at some fast food joint. I was helping in the dishwashing for some reason or something like that when some people arrived. One of them, a woman, kept making weird comments like she was gonna do something bad to me. Eventually she does that thing cops do where they put like one arm behind your back and keeps firmly telling me to "mix with the floor" while she's trying to push me down to make me part of the floor. Woke up with an actual "aah!" Prior in this dream I saw a friend I hadn't seen in a while (he moved).
8/22/23
Last night I dreamt that I was talking with some people (I can't remember where - I think it was a classroom) and I said that most people shouldn't climb Mount Everest, and that because it's such an exceptional mountain, only the most exceptional of climbers can climb it, and that's why the only people who've climbed Mount Everest that anyone should bother talking about are people who did it without oxygen tanks.
8/28/23
I was in some sort of steppe town or something. It's sort of segued from another dream which is important to know. I was me but my family wasn't my irl family, and the family I was visiting were some sort of semi distant relation (I'll say cousij for the sake of brevity). Anyway, I'm told that my little cousin is being bullied really badly by these other kids, and the family are sort of known assholes. The village is really hill-y, almost like something out of mount and blade. So I'm walking up the steps to assholes' house and the family patriarch is this guy I know named Art. I tell him very nicely because art is a nice guy that his grandkids need to be nicer and he throws his hands up and says "oh great just kill me now, they're so damn dramatic just talk to them yourself" so I say okay. My cousins' bullies are all like ten years old but they're little fucking shithead half breeds. Im with my baby cousin telling her to fight this one kid giving her trouble. She won't because there's like four of them. So I'm somehow now upstairs in these people's house and I'm talking to them. I'm there by myself, my cousin is back out in the car. I pulled out my carry gun and dropped the mag, cleared the chamber and held one in my hand and said "This is a 115 grain hornady critical defense hollow point. That means when I shoot you for fucking with my cousin more, this little thing makes a fist sized hole in your mongrel nigger body (these people all looked vaguely Asian so I don't know why I called them niggers). I would really prefer if we could solve this all peacefully. We don't have to love each other but I don't want to have to kill you." So the little shit kids sorta grumble and leave and one of them who's sorta their leader I guess gets all shucking and jiving and pulls out a weird ass pistol magazine but no gun and then leaves. I immediately interpret this as a threat. I go downstairs, recalling I have an AUG in the car which is a lot hotter than a handgun. As I get Downstairs I run into my irl friend Dalton who's just like, coming into town or something (I think the bully family lived in the Inn or something idk). Thankfully Dalton is based and I tell him I may be in deep shit, "might have to kill a motherfucker today," and need him to watch and cover me while I get to my car. Just have him watch and be looking for trouble, not actually drawn and firing the whole time. He goes fuck yeah dude anything you need and I say thanks. So I take a deep breath and walk outside down the little hill and get into the back of the car (me and a couple family members were traveling together I guess). My AUG is right there in the back seat so I somehow roll the back window down, tell them to drive now, and watch out the back window with the rifle as we drive away. I vaguely recall how I got the AUG. in the dream before this, I was in some sort of big war. It was weird because I knew it was video game like, but it felt like it was still important. Like we respawned and everything but it was still real war idk. I had a basically bone stock AUG after trading a comfy-to-me decked out M4 for it (which is odd because I wouldn't do that). Then the game ended and I sorta got in my car and left and that's how I ended up visiting my cousins or whatever in the steppe town.
8/29/23
Dreamt I was spending some time with Katharina. She says we have to "have a hard conversation." Oh no. She then goes on to explain how every paycheck, we'll each put $50 of it into our savings accounts. Several minutes later I ask her "I don't mean to sound like an asshole but I'm not sure I understand how that counts as a difficult conversation; could you clarify for me?" And then I woke up.
9/4/23
Dreamt I was watching a pro wrestling pay per view with two friends both of whom are women. One who I could see a future with, Katharina, that would be very good and the other who's just hot, Adina. Katharina tells me she's gonna head out, aww but okay. Adina tells me we can get the PPV at her place and go back and watch it. Oh yippee. Start heading back to hers but to get there we have to go through this massively convoluted public transport thing. I'm talking like one of those weird ass paintings with upside down staircases. Also includes you know that brand lime? In my dream they own large spaces people need to get through so they create floors with sections that move in opposite directions and you pay to make them stop, but only for you somehow. I just ran over it and kept myself from falling. Some old lady told me I should've paid and I called her a cunt sucker (as in a cunt and a sucker). Got separated from Adina somehow but I figured we would just meet back up. All of a sudden Kat taps me on the shoulder and says hi, weird seein each other here still. Says she got turned around at one of the stations and finally got back on the right staircase or whatever it was. I'm telling you this public transport system was fucking nutty. I say let's walk together, we're going in the same direction for a while. She smiles and says sure, sounds nice. So we do and she says something about how it's so nice to see me again and I say likewise. We kiss out of nowhere as we walk and keep doing so. We make it to the next stairway (still going same direction) and walk by it and sit down at this little bench next to it and I sit down and she sorta stands in front of me but leans against me. We both start to cry and say we love each other. Kiss again. Then I woke up.
9/18/23
I was walking around some sort of big grocery store with James and Alex and someone else. The other person mr and James had shopping carts Alex was doing his own thing. I kept telling the other person to slow down. I finally gave her my cart since it had nothing in it and took hers which had stuff in it and moved my few things from her cart tto mine since I had a few things in her cart. I told her to slow down and I don't shop so fast. Then I can't remember what happened to the cart but I was running around this giant open air freezer action ice skating on my feet and saw Alex and said hey.
My sister had built a set out of foam cups and craft supplies. It was just her and the cats and me. We were playing dungeons and dragons but I didn't know. For some reason I smashed it once. She was very upset. The next day I was fighting with the cats about my behavior and I told them I would not be lectured to by a fucking cat. I sat down with my sister and smashed something again. This was because nobody had told me we were playing a game and I can't understate how much that fucked with me. She was even more upset this time and I couldn't find her to apologize. We were in some sort of temple and somehow playing that DND game was going to get us a scroll. One of the guys I was playin with said I didn't deserve to get the benefits of tnt a roll because of my behavior and I agreed. They were runes they taught us about elemental bending in them and I was sort of like the avatar I think. I didn't get the benefits of it and instead the camera zoomed out and I saw him give someone the tubes for death instead of earth.
9/30/23
I was walking through this sparse woods (low density of trees but still not a clearing or anything) to find my friends with an AK. I was just looking for them because we got separated but I wasn't anxious or anything. So I'm walking with the rifle slung with one hand on it just to keep it from banging into me as I walk and I get to a small ridge overlooking a valley. (The more I think about it, the more I think I actually know this place - it's a few mile hike behind my house.) So I get to the ridgeline and look down and my friends are just chilling in the valley sitting down maybe 70 yards away. Before I can call out this bear walking on two legs runs into the camp and starts trying to kill them. I lay prone and dump the rifle at the bear and kill it. Drop the mag and reload, scan for a second, and it's clear. Scoot down the ridge to my friends and despite the bear at one point having someone in its jaws swinging them around everyone is unharmed and super chill. Not denying it happened but like "yeah it's over so everything is cool now. "Oh and I found it weird how everyone was so chill, but I sorta figured "well yeah I suppose it is over with so no reason still being anxious about it"
10/3/23
First I'm out hiking with a friend. I'm standing a few steps up on the stairs to this fire tower almost with a ranger and my buddy Griff is walking a bit away. Suddenly this rabbis opossum looking thing comes up and starts trying to attack us. I look at the ranger and he's all sad but says I've gotta shoot it. I do and feel bad so I decide to bury it. Ranger says he doesn't have a shovel but there's a trowel somewhere so I walk his little campsite complete with garden and try to find it. Eventually I do right as Griff gets back.
Next thing I'm on some sort of military base with friends as a civilian. At one point there's this really nasty ruck sack, but like a framed one, that has a port in it that everyone is laughing at and smelling because it smells horrid. We're all hanging out in this almost loading dock type area having a good time with a woman loads up and smacks me across the face hard. I ask her what the fuck and she says we've all got to LEAVE! There's suddenly an alarm blaring and nobody has any idea what's going on. I turn back after a few steps to make sure I've got my CC but I don't find my keys. We're all separated in the exiting but brought back together outside the building. Nobody is told what's going on but a bunch of people exiting the building are wearing OD T shirts and multicam pants, some of whom it looks right on and others it doesn't, and issued weapons. Nobody I know is part of that group including some people I know either in the dream or in real life are good at that shit. So we're all sort of milling about trying to figure out what's going on when my friend Griff gets mad at being so bored and takes a stick and throws it. He's sort of a floor above me but it's this weird construction site type deal where there's a bunch of it as like, scaffolding. But the good metal scaffolding. So I look up and he's part of a chain of people. He asks if I know jiu jitsu, and I say only what I've seen on UFC so no I don't want to be a part of. Whatever is going on because I'll just hold people back being unable to hold my own. He goes nah don't worry it's not like that, we're just having some fun so I say fuck it sure why not. Next thing I know a bunch of us are standing on a big circle drawn on the ground. Were told that we each have to push one person out of the ring using whatever fighting style we want. Everyone is on their own and everyone starts at once and the round ends once half the players have been pushed out. First bell rings and I don't have a target at the beginning but nobody's going after me. I pick out one kid, middling thin Asian guy, and bull rush him, grab him by the waist in a bear hug, and basically just keep bull rushing him out of the ring. Easy peasy. Bell rings and that's the end of round one. Those of us who won return to the circle line for round two. The whole time there's this sense of... Dread. Like we're playing games in a death camp to pass the time, but not so certain. More of "what the fuck is going on we might as well find a game to play because nobody is going to tell us anything." I remember in the dream having this feeling of a bomb, and the date having something to do with 9/11 but not being 9/11 - maybe it was just "is this going to be another date like 9/11 that people just know". Anyway, right before the bell rang for round two, I woke up.

one last goodybe.
How do you think you would die? It’s a question everyone has asked themselves at least once in their life. Or they’ve been asked it by another, but it’s one that every living breathing person has been forced to ponder. Most common answer being “I’d like to go in my sleep,” the kind of death that is easy and painless. And that’s what everyone should get when their time comes to depart this world.
Though she was still physically alive and breathing, she could not say the same for her heart, soul, and mind. The moment replayed in her mind over and over again, taking another piece of her with it each time. She could feel the impact of hand meeting shoulder, the wrong shoulder, and that moment of true fear washing over her as quickly as Natalie had stepped into her path. Over and over again, she feels that fear coursing through her, growing stronger with every second that passed as if she was still out in those woods. It wasn’t supposed to be her, she wasn’t supposed to move Lisa out of the way, it wasn’t supposed to be her.
I know you didn’t want to leave Your heart yearned to stay But the strength I always loved in you Finally gave way
But it was and Misty’s hands had been the one to deliver the final blow, to bring confusion and fear to her best friend in those final moments before the mind prepared for the departure of the soul. Of everything that made the blonde love the other woman. For so long she had been Natalie’s protector ( from herself and any who dared to harm her ) and it was an oath that she had tried to uphold for the better part of twenty-five years. She never thought nor could she have ever imagined that she would be the one to break that oath. That she would be the one to finally do what the wilderness, the drugs and alcohol, and what Natalie herself could not do. She killed the very person she swore to protect.
Walter had drove her back to Wiskayok after the police had finished questioning them and she was thankful for him being there. The question of where to go had been simple as she wanted to go home and without any real thought behind that decision, she didn’t realize that home would hold memories. Memories that would only further bring pain to her, something she didn’t realize until she was walking in through the front door. Her eyes going to the living room, to the coffee table that Natalie had perched herself upon only a few months ago.
It had been days since that night, but the memory was still fresh in her mind. Replaying every time she closed her eyes. So sleep did not come to her with ease nor did she allow herself to sleep, but even Misty couldn’t keep herself awake. And though the brunette had not been in her home long, it didn’t matter. Her presence was still strong enough for the blonde to smell her perfume mixed with the smell of cigarette smoke. Maybe that was because of the leather jacket, the one that the brunette had worn so many times. It was all she had wanted ( the necklace Nat wore would be…picked up at a later date ) and it was something she would not allow out of her sight. She knew it was pathetic, that she had no right to it or any of the others belongings. But it was something physical to go along with the memories of the brunette.
The days that followed were filled with more tears than she had ever shed for anyone in her life. The grief she felt, a tremendous and resounding feeling, plagued her. Her routine was not what it had been, the only reason why Caligula remained fed and watered was because of Walter. He was a fixature in her life now, one that she was continuously thankful for, but she showed little of that thankfulness. Though he knew as he never said anything, never expected anything from her. But he could not help keep her dreams from turning into a nightmare that she had lived and created. He couldn’t keep her face from appearing behind Misty’s closed eyes as she slept.
In my dreams I can see you I can tell you how I feel In my dreams I can hold you And it feels so real
Though in truth, the blonde didn’t know what was worse. To wake up having replayed the moment she killed her one true love friend or waking up from a dream that was so vivid and real only to have been nothing but a dream? She figured both were equally worse as the latter, she would never get to see or hear Natalie’s voice, her laugh, or see her rolling her eyes with a scoff. So many no more’s that it made her heart ache ( what remained of it anyways. ) But in every dream that did not turn into that hellish nightmare, she clung to the brunette and told her she was sorry, over and over again. Just as she had done that night, in Natalie’s final moments on this earth.
Those dreams were hard to wake from because the real world was just a cruel and harsh reminder that Natalie Scatorccio was gone. And that Misty fucking Quigley had been the cause and reason for her no longer being here. But even the blonde knew that no matter how long she tried to stay asleep or how often she slept in hopes of seeing the other woman…
And in the early morning light After a silent peaceful night
…that there was no changing the past. That it was written in stone, sealed and delivered to the universe to read. And that was a cold, hard, and ugly truth that she alone would have to live with until it was her time to depart this world.
Oh I wish, I wish you could have stayed.

mortyfields:
By the time his savior came to collect him Morty was alone at the bar, but he hadn’t started the night that way. Of course he wasn’t just out drinking by himself; he and some ensemble cast members had gone out together for a little social hour after the latest night performance of the show. But they’d eventually all trickled out one by one, two by two until he was the last one left, not realizing until too late that he should have paired up with a designated driver or made arrangements for getting home before he was this drunk. Now he could…wander out on his own and try to find his way home? Nah. He could order an Uber or something—but why bother going to all that trouble when he could just as easily phone a friend? Ferdie was already on “do not disturb” at this hour, but Buttercup usually stayed out late partying; maybe she also had a ride he could tag along with if they could hook up! He sent a few texts and finished his current drink while waiting for a response, but when he got around to ordering another, he was interrupted by a hand on his shoulder and another turning his face to be met with—Bubbles? “Hey, it’s you! What…?” Temporarily stupefied, he let her lead him out, face flushed because of the alcohol he’d consumed and no other particular reason.
Morty hadn’t expected to see Bubbles, if only because he thought he’d messaged Buttercup (as it turned out their names were too close together in his contacts list not to get mixed up) but it wasn’t an unpleasant surprise at all. Bubbles’ gentle manner and care-taking was a far cry from her sister's usual attitude, and already enough to spoil him and make him crave more at the same time. More than he should take, yet at this stage of inebriation he had absolutely no inhibitions left, so as soon as it became clear that Bubbles didn’t drive here to pick him up, he complained that he couldn’t walk it. While her teasing response had just enough genuineness that he was tempted, the thought of her carrying him bridal-style made him falter. Morty stumbled over his feet and laughed it off as he regained his balance. “I'm a grown man...Piggy-back, please.” He threw his arms over her shoulders from behind, resting his chin on the top of her head and leaning heavily on her in a way that would surely knock down an ordinary person of her size. But she wasn’t ordinary—she was Bubbles.

To anyone else, it would almost seem comical that she even offered to carry him in any type of way. With their difference in height alone, either choice she had given him wouldn’t have worked when he was nearly a foot taller than her. Then again, Bubbles wasn’t an ordinary human. Maybe for any other person who was five-foot-two and who wasn’t born with superhuman abilities, they wouldn’t be able to carry a six-foot guy all on their own. Not without struggling. Even carrying him on her back, it could’ve been a struggle for her, but Bubbles wouldn’t have made either suggestion if she wasn’t confident in her strength to be able to carry Morty on her own. It wouldn’t be the first time she’s ever carried him either.
“Oh!” Stumbling over for a second before stabilizing, she half-hardedly glared up at Morty after he threw his arms around her and leaned heavily onto her. The colors on her cheeks had then tinted, but the darkness of the late night hour had made it so it wasn’t possible to notice unless he was looking directly at her. But with Morty resting his chin on top of her head from behind, it was impossible for him to have even notice. Even if he did, Bubbles could excuse it as being caught off guard by his sudden action. And he was drunk anyways, so what does it matter if she let herself react in a way she typically wouldn’t have if he had been sober instead. “As if grown men can’t be carried like a princess.” The blonde tsked, shifting a little so that way she can get a better look at him, her head pressing against his chest as her eyes peaked at up. For a second, she stared at him unamused and then her smirk grew. “Know what? For that, I’m going to make the choice for you!” Pulling away and in one big swoop, Bubbles changed their position until she had Morty positioned in her arms in a similar fashion a groom would carry their bride. “There! Now I can take you home and you won’t even have to move a single muscle~”

All the King’s Men  -  Three
Pairing: Alpha!King!Bucky X Omega!Reader
Summary: Your father always said that if it weren’t for your presentation, he’d think you were an Alpha. There’s a reason for that. Growing up in a world where Omegas are treated like garbage, you’ve fought for the respect that you have. Until you’re sold off to an old King desperate for a bride. But you will not lay down and present for your new husband. No, you will fight back.
Warnings: Langauge, Angst, Fluff, Smut, ABO Dynamics (bond marks, knotting, scenting, etc.), Enemies to Lovers, More to Come
Word Cont: 3.5K
A/n: Happy Samhain and Halloween everyone! I hope you’re all having a fantastic day/night! I plan on watching movies and writing tonight. I love you all and I hope you have a fantastic and safe night!
This is a still-developing idea, so it may take me a bit longer to update.  Taglist for the series is open.
~*~
“The seamstress requests your presence. She’s finished the gown for tonight but would like to see you in it in case she needs to make any last-minute changes.”
You nod your understanding, walking with Wanda through the gardens in an attempt at wasting time before the ball tonight.
Your nose wrinkles when you smell your husband, but worse than that is the smell of at least four more Alphas with him.
Only moments after you smell them do you see them, walking towards you.
“Ah, this must be she,” one of the other Alpha’s says, his eyes raking over you in a way that makes you growl.
“And the Omega beside her... is she available for our own leisure as well?” A different one asks, his eyes on Wanda.
You stiffen at the comment and Wanda does the same, dropping her gaze though you know she’s more than capable of protecting herself.
“What did you just say about my lady?” You demand, taking a step toward him and glaring daggers straight into his eyes.
Your hand twitches to reach for the blade strapped to your thigh, but you don’t. As strong as you are, there’s no way you’ll overpower five Alphas.
Shock radiates off of the four new Alphas and you take yet another step towards them, cinnamon rolling off of you mixing with an angrier undertone of something far spicier.
“You will not speak of her nor to her like that again. In my kingdom, you will not speak to any woman, omega or not, like that.”
The Alpha glares right back at you and takes a step forward, a warning growl rumbling in his chest as he regains his composure.
“You will watch your mouth, woman. Were you my Omega I’d cut out your tongue. James should do the same.”
You raise a single eyebrow and cock your head to the side, eyes flickering over to the King for a fraction of a second before returning to the older Alpha in front of you.
“If he cuts out my tongue then how will I please him with my mouth? The King is quite fond of my tongue, I’ll have you know.”
The silence hangs heavily in the air, none of the Alphas having a suitable reply, and you smirk triumphantly.
James clears his throat and walks towards you, a hand landing gently on your waist and his nose nudging over your bond mark, scenting you.
“My Omega, though harsh, has a point,” he says, raising his eyes to the man standing across from you.
“You will not speak of her lady in such a way.”
The man reluctantly nods, his glare trained on you, but you only grin.
“You will wait for me in my chambers. We have matters to discuss, Omega.” The King’s words are whispered gently against your scent gland and you grind your teeth together but nod.
The least you can do is hear him out after he defended both you and Wanda the way he did.
The walk to his chambers is silent and tense, but when you step inside Wanda clears her throat.
“Thank you... for defending me.”
You only nod at her, a soft smile on your face.
“Of course. You are my one friend, I would fight for you and kill for you.”
She gives you a timid smile then bows her head and takes her leave.
You’re only alone for a few moments before the King is walking in.
“You mustn’t aggravate them so. Those are important members of my council and you have insulted them.”
You roll your eyes and turn to face him.
“I am your Queen and they will respect me as they respect you. I do not care that I have insulted them, they threw the first insult.”
He huffs a heavy sigh and puts his hands on his hips.
“I am not disagreeing. I am simply stating that you need be more careful. I will not tolerate continued rudeness directed at members of my council. First, it was Lady Sharon, now it’s Lord Pierce. No more.”
You scoff and shake your head at him, your scent still clouded with cinnamon.
“I have every right to detest the wench who’s bedding my husband behind my back.”
He looks surprised for a moment and you take advantage of it, taking a step closer to him and raising your brows.
“What? Did you think I was unaware that you’ve been attempting to shove your knot in that dirty Beta? You take me for a fool, Your Majesty.”
He grins and shakes his head, facing off with you and looking into your eyes.
“I do not take you for a fool, Omega. That you must know. But you have been rather... unagreeable since your heat and a man has needs.”
You only hum, turning away from him and walking towards the door.
“Your Omega has needs too, Your Majesty. Needs which you were unable to fulfill during the time of my heat. If the time of your rut comes and you choose her, my attempts at taking your life will not fail. In my Kingdom, it is treasonous to interfere with a nesting Omega and a rutting King who needs to knot his Queen. The consequence of such treason is death. Do keep that in mind the next time you seek out that Beta to satiate your... manly needs.”
He grabs your bicep as you make to leave his chambers, a growl rolling out of him as he steps closer to you, a possessive cedar scent washing over you.
“You would prefer I seek you, Omega? You’d rather have me find you to scent and knot to my pleasure? Because, from what I gather, you would rather die at the hands of a beast than spend a moment with me.”
You grind your teeth together and shake your head, tilting your head back to look up at him as he towers over you, his huge body a little intimidating, though you know he won’t harm you.
At least, you don’t think he will.
“I would rather die than be with you, yes. But being so blatantly disrespected in my own Kingdom is a fate worse than death. I have worked hard to earn the respect I have and I will not allow your... baser desires and poor judgement to tarnish that.”
Your gaze is fiery as you glare up at him.
“You require something tight and wet for your knot? Fine. You come to me, not that filthy Beta. I do not care what your stupid Alpha hindbrain thinks of this. It is not me wanting you nor is it me needing you.”
His eyebrows raise.
“To me, it sounds like you are giving in to the claim. Do not forget that it is my mark you wear on your neck. You belong to me, Omega. You are mine, my property.”
Your hand shoots out, grabbing his groin not hard enough to hurt but enough for him to jolt where he stands.
“I do not belong to you,” you grit out, “you may have sunk your teeth into my neck, dog, but that does not make me yours. I belong to no man. To no Alpha. And I never will. The next time you forget that I will tear off your cock, gift-wrap it, and give it to that Beta that you so adore.”
His inner Alpha growls at the threat, but he can’t stop the smile from spreading across his face.
His heart jumps in his chest and butterflies swarm in his gut.
Even as you glare up at him, his testicles held tightly in your grasp, he smiles at you.
The smug bastard smiles at you.
“Do you think me to be joking? Do you not take me seriously?”
Your grip tightens and he groans, shaking his head.
“I know that you are not joking, Omega. Not, for a second, did I think that. And, when the need arises, I will be sure to find you and knot you. I know how much you enjoy being made to submit, as much as you deny it.”
You growl at him, tightening your grasp again for a brief moment before letting go.
“You tell yourself whatever you wish, but deep down you know the truth.”
He hums, thick arms crossing over his chest.
“You know, you spoke so highly of how your mouth pleases me. I think I may need a reminder of why I do not cut out your tongue.”
Eyes like daggers pierce through his soul but he stays standing tall, his lips curved upward with amusement.
“If you so much as attempt to push me to my knees I will bite off your testicles and spit them into your mouth.”
He laughs.
Your anger only grows at how amused he is by the situation.
“If you are done belittling me and making a mockery of me, I shall take my leave.”
He shakes his head, hand smoothing over your arm only for you to yank free from his grip.
He watches you storm out of his chambers, a soft grin on his face.
Your presence is swiftly replaced with one that smells far less lovely. She doesn’t smell bad by any means, but something about your scent, in particular, is so enticing and lovely, he wants to live in it.
“I heard your pup angered Lord Pierce,” Sharon muses, arms crossing over her chest.
James only hums, mind focused on the conversation he just had with you.
“You would do well to teach her how things work. She cannot go around running her mouth the way she does.”
He shrugs, taking a step back when the blonde steps towards him.
“She had a good point and no harm came from it. She and her Lady deserve to feel safe in the Palace. Pierce was out of line with his words and she made that known. Why punish her for something such as that?”
Sharon takes another step towards him, her hands finding his chest.
“Perhaps you shouldn’t punish her. Maybe... you should take your frustrations out on me instead, My King.” Her voice is a sultry whisper, spoken softly into his ear.
He swallows hard, his cock twitching within his trousers. He needs to grind his teeth together and take deep breaths before replying, trying to keep you in his mind instead of Sharon.
Throughout the years she’s been his go-to whenever he’s wanted to wet his cock. Always ready for him, almost too easy.
And then you come in.
You, a challenge of a woman. The only woman who hasn’t given in to his charm, his good looks.
The only woman he’s ever had to chase. Which is humorous because, by law, you’re the woman who belongs to him.
Though he knows as the days pass and he gets to know your fiery personality, he’s the one who belongs to you, not the other way around.
“I need to get ready for the ball tonight. You are dismissed.”
Sharon pulls away from him, a frown on her lips.
“But-”
“Dismissed,” he repeats.
She takes a deep breath then nods, bows, and takes her leave.
The scent of her anger lingers in the room and he scrunches up his nose.
“Sharon didn’t seem pleased,” a new voice says.
He turns to the door, nodding at Steven as he walks in.
“I sent her away. She tried to... initiate things but I made a promise to my wife.”
Steve’s eyebrows raise at this new information.
“Oh? So you are promising things to the Omega now? I thought you couldn’t stand her and wanted her only to bear your children.”
James lets out a sigh and shrugs, taking a seat at his desk and pinching the bridge of his nose.
Right from the first moment he met you, when you stood tall and refused to bow, he knew you’d be a spitfire of a woman. And you haven't disappointed.
You’re nearly half his age yet he’s slowly finding himself wound around your delicate little finger.
And, for some odd reason, he doesn’t mind.
Sending Sharon away felt like a blessing in disguise. For so long he’s relied on her, used her to satiate his baser desires, but now he has someone else. Someone better. Warmer and wetter with a body made to take his knot properly.
“She is... growing on me.”
~
"My daughter! You look gorgeous! You are adjusting well?” Your mother pulls you into a tight embrace, tears in her eyes after months of being away from you.
“I am, yes.” Your response is stiff and practiced, and it makes her shoulders sag a tiny bit.
Instead of dwelling on your lie, she takes a step back to look at you.
“This gown is gorgeous!”
It truly is.
It’s a combination of burgundy and cream, with jewels and gems decorating the chest. The skirt tapers at your waist and billows out around your legs, dragging behind you when you walk. The sleeves halt at your elbows, only for the soft fabric to hang delicately off of them in a regal and elegant way.
Atop your head is a crown decorated with more jewels than you’ve ever seen in your life.
All in all, you look every bit the queen that you are.
“We thought you might be a little... lonely,” Your father says, taking a step towards you with a smile.
A single delicate eyebrow raises in question, the expression melting from your face when your father steps aside.
“Pietro?!
The Knight in question rushes towards you, arms thrown around your waist and pulling you into a tight embrace.
The eyes on you don’t matter as he picks you up and swings you around.
“What sort of trouble have you and my sister been causing? I can only imagine all that you’ve done.”
You let out a soft laugh but don’t deny it. Instead, you take his hand and seek out Wanda so that the two of you can fill her brother in on all the havoc you’ve wreaked.
Unbeknownst to you, a set of eyes have been focused on the exchange from the moment the young Alpha set foot in the Palace.
“Who is he?” James asks, his eyes focused on where the young Alpha is touching your waist.
“Pietro Maximoff. Brother of your wife’s lady. A friend from birth is what her brother told me,” Natalia whispers, her eyes focused on you.
“He is too close to her. No one shall touch my wife like that. No one but me.”
His eyes flash red as the younger Alpha leans in, his mouth dusting across your shoulder.
Natalia’s hand shoots out to grab the King’s wrist, preventing him from moving like he so yearns.
“Be wise in your actions, James. This is a celebration of your marriage, do not allow your jealousy to cloud your judgement. You may be her husband, but her father and mother still have every right to pull her from you and end the arrangement.”
Her words go in one ear and out the other as he yanks free of her grip and walks across the ballroom floor.
The Alpha in front of you straightens up and takes a step back, smiling politely as your husband comes up behind you.
His metal hand finds your waist and he puffs out his chest the tiniest bit.
“My darling, you haven’t introduced me to your... friend.” The word is spat with poison but you don’t let it bother you.
After being away from your few friends for so long, you don’t care what issues your husband may have.
“This is my best friend since childhood. Pietro. He’s Lady Wanda’s brother and the only person I’ve truly ever trusted. He used to be my personal guard in Lothiella, and one of my few friends. It is good to see a friendly face.”
James hums, eyeing the younger Alpha for a moment longer.
“As much as I wish I could stay to get better acquainted with you, Peter, I require my wife urgently.”
He takes your hand and pulls you out of the ballroom and into the nearest hallway, his eyes glowing red at the thought of that Alphas hands on you.
“Why must you be rude to one of the few friends that I have? And- what are you doing?”
His nose pushes over your scent gland roughly, forcing his scent upon you.
“You wanted to be sought when I need to wet my knot. Well, that is what I am doing.”
He pushes you against the wall, his teeth scraping over your throat.
Your brows draw together but you don’t fight him.
No, you let him manhandle you and push you around as much as he pleases.
“Jealous of Pietro, are you?”
He growls against your throat and kicks your legs apart while simultaneously shoving your shoulders forward. Your hands find the wall before you, stopping yourself from smacking your head.
He gathers your gown and shoves it around your waist then grabs at your hips, his cock sliding through your folds when he finds you bare beneath.
“You will watch your tone or I will knot that mouth of yours.”
The very thought of him knotting any part of you makes you clench and he chuckles from behind you. One of his hands slides over your mouth just as he thrusts into you, muffling your sound of surprise.
Like every time he finds his way inside of you, the stretch is phenomenal. It’s something you doubt you’ll ever truly get used to, and you don’t want to get used to it.
He presses against every sensitive spot inside of you, stretches you and forces you to take everything he has to offer.
“Is this what you wanted, Omega? To be stuffed full of my cock whenever I choose? Because this is what you asked for.” He snarls the words into your ear while speeding up his thrusts.
A choppy moan is muffled by his hand, but that’s the only answer you give him.
“My Omega, so desperate to be knotted by her Alpha. After I’m finished with you, that other Alpha won’t even look at you!”
His teeth sink into the healed mark on your throat, sending a shiver down your spine and making your toes curl from within your shoes.
“I want you to cum for me, Omega. I want to feel it, want to feel you take my cock.” He moves his lips to your ear, hot breaths fanning out across your skin.
“We haven’t time for you to take my knot now, but you will take it later, do you understand?”
Tears prickle at your eyes at just how good it feels, at the promise of more to come.
“If you do not cum for me now, Omega, then I will bring you into the ballroom and make you cum there.”
The threat has your eyes rolling back in your head and the coil in your belly tightening.
You cum with a soft cry of pleasure, eyes squeezed shut and body trembling beneath him.
His hand moves from your mouth to the back of your neck, forcing you into a primal submission.
And you don’t fight.
How could you?
He’s making you feel levels of pleasure that only he can bring, and he’s being so generous about it, too.
“There it is, sweet Omega. My sweet little Omega. So good for your Alpha... so good.”
You mewl at the praise, arching your back the tiniest bit as his tongue smoothes over the mark in your neck.
Finally, after painting your walls white, he pulls out of you and allows your gown to fall around your legs.
“You will not clean my seed from your womb. I want it to be there when I feast on you tonight,” he growls, hands grabbing at your waist and spinning you to face him.
Your hands land softly on his chest and you look up at him, eyes full of lust and anger all at the same time.
“Who says I’ll allow you to feast on me?” You ask, the words a breath on your lips that he whisks away with a brisk but furious kiss.
One of his hands finds your throat, squeezing gently.
“I say. I will feast on you until you are crying and screaming. Maybe then you’ll finally remember who’s mark you wear on your neck.”

You swear you’re over Jungkook.
In fact, you would even go so far as to say you hate him ━ but you know that’s not true. It’s just that it’s much easier to believe that if you tell yourself you hate him enough times, then maybe you’ll find a way to fix your broken heart, and the pain in his absence won’t hurt so bad.
As it turns out, it hardly works.
Seven months since he had left you to travel the world with his band, basking in promised eternal glory and fame and money, and yet even miles and oceans away from where you stand, he’s all you can think about. There’s a myriad of reasons as to why trying to forget him was an useless endeavour. The hardships of trying to forget a cherished life-long friendship you had grown accustomed to was one of them, and those lingering happy moments you had shared with him as lovers however fleeting they may be was another. But then there was the ever present fact that Jungkook and his band were so quick to rise to fame, their names far exceeding the seemingly cramped and small city you had both reigned from, and suddenly the boy you had known forever, and everything special that makes him, was now being shared to hundreds of millions of adoring fans.
You were certain it was all Jungkook ever wanted, the added attention and the pretty girls fawning over him, because he had always been a casanova in many ways despite always promising you that you were the only one for him even before you had started dating. You had told him it wouldn’t work ━ I trust you as my best friend, you had said in a moment of despair, grasping at straws. I don’t have to worry about you breaking my heart. But I don’t know if I can trust you as my boyfriend ━ far before he and his band had been signed to their record label and paraded around the world, when they were still practicing in rented storage units and friends’ garages and rundown local studios, playing gigs anywhere and everywhere from dingy bars to college campus parties, supporting him every step of the way if only because he was your best friend, and he had been so persistent that it would work, chasing after you even when you tried to push him away. I would treat you right, he had urged so ardently late one drunken night after stumbling back to his apartment. I already practically worship the ground you walk on.
And how could you ━ who had already been so madly in love with him but scared of him breaking your heart, scared of losing him, scared of this happening ━ ever resist him? He made love seem so easy, and maybe that’s because it was when you were with him. But now, he was no longer yours; now, he was the world’s, and you were nothing but a mere hazy fragmented memory in his mind, long forgotten, watching from the side of the stage much like you always had from the very start of it all.
“Hey, isn’t this that band?” Jihyo’s voice bursts through your wandering trail of thoughts.
It takes you a moment to recollect yourself, finding yourself not in the arms of an ex-lover or stuck in a bygone time of months past, but in the cosy and amiable café nearest your campus and frequented by a plethora of your fellow peers. You’re fortunate to find that your other group mates have also become sidetracked, trailing far from the assignment you were all supposed to be working on. Dahyun is perched beside you, chin nestled in the palm of her hand and elbow propped on the table as she scrolls aimlessly through her phone; Jihyo and Taeyong were sat across from you, gossiping fervently about some mutual friend of theirs. You hadn’t known the pair long enough to know much about them or the tragic affair of whoever Mina is for accepting her cheating boyfriend back for the second time, and, likewise, they seem oblivious to your own self-wallowing once you realize what’s caught Jihyo’s sudden attention.
You hear his voice first.
It’s easy to discern, even after all this time and even amongst the muffled chatter and clanking of porcelain and cutlery of those seated around you. The sweet, velvety lull of Jungkook singing throughout the café from the overhead speakers, pretty upbeat melodies and synths mixed with wistful words making up the song he had written for you before he left, before the fame and fans, as a way of telling you how he truly felt about you. It feels like a dream, and maybe that’s because it is, bringing you instantly to another time, and another world. You still remember him showing you the unfinished song for the very first time, curled up next to him in his living room, listening to him serenade you to sleep, humming in places where he hadn’t formed the words yet, strumming along with his acoustic. It was yours and his until he showed the world almost a year ago on their very first show at the Seoul Olympic Stadium in front of thousands of people, as a final desperate act of proclaiming his love for you after a disastrous attempt at a first date that he had begged from you. Just one, he pleaded. To prove it to you that I can be a good boyfriend. And if things don’t work out, we can pretend it never happened and just go back to being us. That’s a promise.
At the time, you had treasured the song. It was beautiful in every way, his love transcending his words and enveloping your heart in pure warmth.
Now, you hate it.
It’s the third time you’ve heard the song that day. Despite avoiding it as best as you could, it seems to find a way to make itself known in your daily life like the nagging nuisance it is. Because fate seemed to enjoy its sadistic behaviour of having the song be one of the main reasons Jungkook and his band had skyrocketed to fame in such a short span of time and, suddenly, Jungkook disappearing from your life meant little when his voice remained as a constant reminder of what could have been, what couldn’t have been, and what fell apart at the already fragile seams. And what was a proclamation of love to you turned into nothing but a fabled tale of lovers. You wonder if people who hear it ever think about where they’ve gone, or who they’ve turned into, or if their love was made to last. You wonder, above all else, if people ever think about it at all.
“Beyond the Scene, right?” Taeyong asks. He seems just as animated to be discussing the song as Jungkook’s voice fades into Jimin’s.
“God, I love this song. It’s so dreamy,” Jihyo lets out a longing sigh as she slumps against her seat. “Y’know, I’m seeing them this Friday. It’s their first time being back in, like, five months.”
“Dude, I’ve been trying to get tickets to see them for months now!” Taeyong gaps incredulously. “How’d you score them?”
“A friend of a friend knows the guy who plays keys,” Jihyo says. “The cute mysterious one.”
“Yoongi, right?”
“Yeah━”
As the pair dive into a passionate discussion about the boys and their first full-length album released under their recently-signed-to label from Columbia Records, you shift uncomfortably in your seat. Dahyun almost immediately straightens up, eyes flickering from the pair to you and back again. You’re both fortunate she’s there, having known your past with Jungkook, and despise it a little more, wondering what her pitying gaze must mean.
“Hey, Dahyun. Y/N.” Taeyong’s voice grabs your attention now. “What do you think of these guys? Didn’t some of them used to go to this school?”
“Yeah, I had a few classes with their drummer.” Dahyun waves her hand airly, swiftly brushing over the fact that she did far more than have a “few classes” with any of the boys but was also one of their closest friends. “I think they’re great━” She glances sideways at you one more time. “Hey, maybe we should get back to the assignment now━”
“I had a class with their lead guitarist, Jungkook, last year,” Jihyo continues, her excitement getting the best of her as Dahyun’s voice drowns out in the foreground.
“No way!” This dubious exclamation comes from Taeyong.
“I tried talking to him once but he totally blew me off,” Jihyo says. “Which is fine, because he’s still hot. If I had known he was gonna be a famous rockstar, I’d have tried asking him out a second time━”
Suddenly, you feel sick.
It’s odd to hear two strangers discuss Jungkook’s life while you’re seated across from them, as if you’re nothing more than an outsider to whoever Jungkook has become now. But you can’t stand it anymore. You’re certain you look insane to them when you push your seat back abruptly, the metal legs screeching against the floor as you stand.
“Whoa, what’s wrong━?” Taeyong starts to ask but you’re gone before he can finish the question, murmuring a half-hearted excuse about how you forgot you needed to be somewhere.
You’ve rounded on your heel and have fled from the café before anyone can try to stop you, with nothing but Jungkook’s mellifluous voice fading in the distance as he croons aloud for you in a time long since passed.
You don’t care. Besides, you’re sure Dahyun will cover for you.
The worst part of it all? The dreadful realization that sinks into your mind, and into your heart, beckons the question: who’s to say you aren’t a stranger now to Jungkook’s life altogether?
Tumblr media
“So, what are you trying to say?”
You remember the moment so clearly despite wanting nothing more than to forget it all, and the pain associated with it. Because even from then you knew you would always be in love with Jungkook, but you couldn’t have him. It’s hard to remember whose fault it is this time that caused the sudden fight, though random little arguments had been a frequent occurrence nearing the end of your one year relationship more often than not. You hate blaming it all on him, because you were certain you were at fault too. Maybe a little bit wary at times, a little selfish, wanting him all to yourself. Even though you knew he has an obligation to the world, it still hurt when he started making promises he couldn’t keep, blowing you off for soundchecks, or spontaneous interviews, or record label meetings. More and more you could feel the both of you drifting apart, maybe without even meaning for it to happen.
It was just that Jungkook was destined for a lifetime of greatness, and you were starting to think that meant without you.
You had stopped him late one night after he had stumbled home from his and the band’s nightly studio sessions as they worked through recording their debut album as a signed band. Lately, it seemed as if that was all that Jungkook cared about, and while you knew the band meant the world to him and you would always support him in his endeavour, you couldn’t help but feel lesser in comparison. That, and you hated seeing the boy overwork himself to the point of near exhaustion every night if only because their label was so adamant about having the album finished before the month ended.
“You want to, what? Break up?” Jungkook asked, this time more incredulously and less dumbfounded as he had initially been. He didn’t believe you just yet, but you couldn’t exactly tell what he was thinking anymore at that point.
“I just figured we could use some time apart,” You had suggested awkwardly. “Just a break.”
He had let out a breathless, disbelieving laugh. “Y/N, this is insane.”
You flinched. You remember having to look away, refusing to meet his suddenly sorrowful look. “Is it, Jungkook? I mean… Look at us. We’re falling apart. It was bound to happen eventually. We tried to make it work but maybe we’re on different paths now.”
“But I love you,” Jungkook gasped, exasperated. “Where is this coming from?”
“And I don’t want to have to tie you down for the rest of your life,” You continued on stubbornly, “or make you think you owe me your whole life just because you said you fell in love with me when you were thirteen━”
This seemed to catch Jungkook’s attention. He grew rigid in front of you, a look of wary agony contorting his face. “Is that what this is then? You don’t love me anymore?”
You didn’t respond immediately, instead the dread of the night seemed to finally catch up with you and you had grimaced. You had loved him even then, but the thought of voicing it aloud when you were supposed to be breaking up with him didn’t feel right. The tears began to swell in your throat and blur your vision. Jungkook must have noticed, because he always seems to spot the small things about you that even you miss. Almost instantly, the sour look on his face softened and his gaze turned helpless, with those big puppy-dog eyes that you’ve always been too fond of. He closed the distance between you at once, warm hands grabbing at your own.
“You do.” It wasn’t a question, but a statement. He knew you were still in love with him ━ or maybe he’d just been hopeful. “I know you do. So then why are you breaking up with me?”
He let go of one of your hands to reach up to your face, calloused fingers gentle and soft against your cheek as they brushed away a rogue tear you hadn’t realized had fallen from your lashes. For a moment, you had let yourself get carried away. You leaned into the comforting heat and touch of his palm as he cradled your face.
“Don’t━” You choked out after a moment of silence, hating when your voice splintered into a sob. “Don’t touch me. Please, Jungkook. You’re only going to make this harder.”
His hands sprang away from your face almost at once, as if he had just been burnt by scalding fire. He wanted nothing more than to reach out and pull you into his arms but he had refrained the urge somehow, miraculously. So, instead, he grit his teeth and clenched his hands into fists as his arms fell limp at his sides.
“Then don’t do this. Don’t walk away,” Jungkook pleaded desperately. “I don’t understand. If you love me still, why are you making this harder for yourself?”
“Because what if that’s all we have in common anymore?” You asked wretchedly. “We care about each other. We always will. But you’re focused on the band, and this is my last year of school. Maybe we just need time to focus on ourselves.”
Jungkook blinked once. Twice. His stare was suddenly devoid of any emotion as he gawked at you, but you could tell that he was hurting. It was there in the fluttering of nerves in his jaw; there, in the way his lips pulled taut into a thin line; there, in the way even you could see his eyes begin to shimmer with wet tears that he unabashedly displays without trying to wipe away.
“So that’s it?” he asked. “After everything we’ve been through. You’re just gonna end it, like that? Y/N, come on━”
His hands had found purchase on your waist, and you had lingered for a moment too long; then, fumbling, he tried to grab delicately at your face, probing you to look at him. But you couldn’t. The moment you met his wounded gaze, you shook your head furiously. You had slithered out of his grasp, slipping through the seams of his fingers just like that.
“I━” You paused. “This isn’t some spur of the moment decision, Jungkook. How can you not see it? I’ve felt so alone these past few months. It’s like you’re here but not entirely. Your mind is always somewhere else, always thinking about the band and never about us.”
“What am I supposed to do?” he had asked hotly. “The band is my everything.”
“And what am I?” You asked. The question only mildly offended you, a shot right to your heart. Because if the band was his everything, what were you in comparison? “A distraction until you get everything you want? I can’t keep being that.”
“No!” he protested. “You’re not a distraction. You’re━” He stopped himself short, brows furrowing. “You can’t keep pinning this all on me. You just don’t trust me, do you? You never did. Always thinking I’m with some other girl when I’m not with you━”
“That’s not true,” You admonished.
“Isn’t it?” Jungkook retaliated.
“I don’t want to hear it,” You had said at once. Your tone was final, a decisive ending to your argument with him. “My mind’s already been made up, Jungkook. I don’t think we should see each other again until we sort all this out ━ or, until you sort out whatever your priorities are.”
Jungkook’s stare had hardened, a frown deeply etching into his face. He had straightened up then, perplexed and upset with your standoffish demeanour, as if thinking this surely meant nothing to you. But little did he know this would become one of the hardest decisions you would have to make.
“Fine,” he said rigidly. “If that’s how it is, then I’m gone. You’ll never have to see me again.”
You hadn’t known at the time just how terribly you had messed up ━ neither had Jungkook. He had left before you could stop him, or before either of you could change your minds. Because nothing’s worse than a broken heart, blinded by stubborn and defensive rage. Accusatory fingers and blaming him or you wouldn’t heal the wounds that had already formed, and ending things seemed to only make it worse, months of lonely heartache without Jungkook to further prove just that…
Tumblr media
The last time you spoke to Jungkook, you told him you never wanted to see him again ━ or, at least, that seems to be how he interpreted it.
Now, you were standing in the midst of his domain, surrounded by everyone in his public sphere of friends and colleagues and acquaintances, and there was certainly no way of escaping him.
You were starting to think you’re losing mind, because you’d truly have to be insane to have worked up the nerve to agree to go with Dahyun to a party being held celebrating the band’s recent tremendous success and headlining their first world tour. Their manager, Jin, had personally reached out to you and Dahyun, calling you as a means of asking you to attend, though you had given him a timid and dismissive response at first. If it hadn’t been for Dahyun purposely and almost quite literally dragging you out under the premise that “even if you don’t want to see Jungkook, you at least owe it to the boys to go,” you don’t think you’d even be here. But while you didn’t know where you stood with Jungkook anymore, that didn’t mean you weren’t still proud of him or the rest of the boys. It just became harder to bask in their success with them when you had gone from knowing every detail of their lives, of Jungkook’s life, to knowing only what you could hear from gossiping fans around you, or plastered in tabloids, or all over any form of social media.
The party is held at some sort of fancy lavish restaurant, the entire back room rented out by the band’s record label and management, and is filled with dozens of people you don’t know. Fortunately, you and Dahyun aren’t left alone for very long, as an elated Jin and Jimin, the appointed lead singer, bustle their way through the crowd to you almost as soon as you arrive, leaving very little time for you to feel so awkward that you consider running away again. Jimin, in all his spritely and extravagant blue haired disposition, wastes no time in engulfing you both in a comforting hug as if months hadn’t passed since you’ve last seen them.
“Glad you guys could make it!” Jin smiles from over Jimin’s shoulder.
“It’s been forever,” Jimin affirms.
“Wouldn’t miss it for the world,” Dahyun says. “I’m surprised you guys didn’t forget about us, considering you’re big rockstars now.”
“Rockstar is a bit of an overstatement.” An effortlessly charming smirk unfurls on Jimin’s face, which seems to immediately dazzle Dahyun. “Besides, we could never forget you. Hey, come with me to find the guys. I think we could all use some time to catch up━”
He places his hand on the small of Dahyun’s back as he guides her away, leaving you with Jin. A moment of silence passes, in which time you can feel the boy’s eyes lingering on you.
“He knows you’re coming tonight, if that’s what you’re worried about,” Jin says carefully, treading over his words lightly. It’s too painfully obvious who he’s talking about, though you’re fortunate he doesn’t bother mentioning Jungkook’s name anyway. “There’s no point in hiding. I think you should talk to him.”
“I━” You trail off uselessly, your voice croaking. Fearing an imminent breakdown, you shake your head. Then, holding your chin a little higher, Jin’s startled to hear you pretend as if he hadn’t said anything. “It really is good to see you guys again. If you’ll excuse me, I think I need a drink.”
And you’re gone once more before he can say anything else. On your lonesome, you find refuge at the bar, though you only order water because you’re certain you won’t be able to stomach anything stronger. You don’t know how long you spend there, blankly staring at a spot on the wall as your mind wanders everywhere and yet nowhere at all until━
“Y/N?”
There it is again. The familiar sound of his voice, only this time it’s much more attainable, closer to your world and not elsewhere so high in the clouds like a hopeful dream. You brace yourself before turning to face him.
This close, Jungkook looks breathtakingly and painfully beautiful.
As always, he’s adorned in all black, the first few buttons of the silky blouse he’s wearing left undone so that it teases the exposed flesh of his collarbones and the rose tattoo that inks his chest, the thorny stems crawling up the side of his neck just below his ear, accompanied by a pair of leather pants. He’s the same as ever. The same imperfect tattoos that decorate his fingers and arms that you’ve always loved, the same ring-clad fingers painted a chipped black, the same hoop accentuating his button nose. His hair is still his natural dark ebony color (something he’s seemed to stick with much more as of late despite dyeing it wild colours throughout his past), only it’s a little longer than you last remembered, and the sides of his head are shaved in the form of an undercut. You’re foolishly surprised to find he still looks the same, but almost a year away from someone can both change nothing and yet everything all at once.
“Jungkook…” You want to say something more, but your words fall short.
It’s hard to tell if he’s angry or upset at seeing you there, but you don’t think he’s either, and you have an inkling of a thought that he purposely sought you out amongst the many faces. Instead, he looks hesitant, apprehensive, as if dreading how you’ll respond to see him. As if you’ll yell at him, push him away. You do neither, fortunately.
Just when the dense silence starts to become almost unbearable, Jungkook clears his throat. “I━ Wow… You look great.”
You blink once, a flustered blush warming your face that you hope he doesn’t notice. “Oh. Thank you. You do, too.”
His eyes flicker over your presence as he nods absentmindedly. Then, he’s offering you a pretty smile, soft and sweet in nature. No malice, or ill-intent. “Um━ How have you been?”
You hate this. You hate the awkward pauses, the prolonged periods of silence. A year ago, even despite knowingly pining for one another, your moments alone with Jungkook were never so terrible. He always found a way to say something cheekily flirtatious even when you were just friends, if only because he knew it would make you blush and giggle because, no matter how many times you would roll your eyes or nudge his sides, he also knew you secretly loved it. All the inside jokes, the milestones shared together, the ardent fleeting touches ━ where did it all go? And while you were both noticeably trying to maintain the peace and pleasantry between one another, it didn’t feel the same. It felt forced, fake. Distracted.
“I’ve been good,” You lie. “How about you? Actually, don’t answer that━” You let out a breathless chuckle. “You’ve clearly been doing amazing. I mean, your album, and your world tour. And tomorrow you’ve got a big day with the hometown show. I heard it sold out in the first ten minutes.”
“Something like that,” Jungkook says modestly. “It’s been kind of crazy. Namjoon says it’s good, but I miss━ I just miss a lot of how it used to be. The slow pace. I dunno. The quick burn up is quick to burn out, right?”
“Maybe,” You admit. “But I think you’ve all got it in you. You’ve worked so hard for this moment. Enjoy it while you’re in it. You deserve it, Jungkook.”
His stare softens as it meets yours. “Thanks.”
Another beat of silence passes. He looks as if he’s warring with himself, as if he’s fighting the urge to say something more, gnawing at his lower lip, brows knitting together.
“Yo, Jeon!” A foreign voice from amongst the crowd beckons aloud abruptly for the boy.
Jungkook glances over his shoulder swiftly in search of the source, then waves his hand as if to motion he’ll be there later. Then, he turns back to you. “Sorry about that.”
“It’s okay. I won’t keep you,” You say. “I know you’re busy.”
“But━” He stops himself, his jaw clamping shut. Changing his mind, he decides to ask hopefully, “Will you be at the show tomorrow?”
“Of course.” The affirmation seems to relieve him, even though it’s a spontaneous decision made by you on the spot. Before this moment, you hadn’t been so sure you could go.
“Promise?”
You can’t help but shake your head, a chuckle slipping past your lips at the innocent boyish question he asks. “Yes, Jungkook.”
His smile widens a little more, however sheepish it may be. “Then can you promise me one more thing?”
“What?” You quirk a brow, intrigued to say the least.
“Will you drop by the hotel we’re staying at tomorrow morning, so I can take you out for a coffee? Just to catch up. It’s been a while,” he says timidly. Then, feeling a little stupid for being so bold, scrambles to explain himself. “And no pressure if you don’t want to. I just thought━”
You can’t possibly say no. Not when it comes to Jungkook, all your past struggles seemingly vanishing without a trace. “I’d like that a lot, Jungkook.”
“Really?”
“Yeah.”
Then he’s positively beaming, his self-indulgent grin making your own heart flutter in your chest. When he leaves your side that night, you find yourself looking forward to the future perhaps a little too optimistically. But how terrible could grabbing coffee with your ex be, if you had survived the first wretched encounter?
So, in the morning when you wake, there’s not a stutter in your step or a wavering flicker of your confidence as you make your way to the Four Seasons hotel Jungkook had told you to from the night before. In fact, a selfish part of you almost thinks that maybe things will start to look up. That maybe you and Jungkook can finally make amends. That maybe you never had a reason to fear Jungkook breaking your heart if he made such an effort to heal it.
The hotel itself is one of the most luxurious ones in Seoul, a considerable contrast from when the boys were slumming it on friends’ couches and in their run-down van touring the country. The room Jungkook tells you to meet him at is one of the hotel’s grand suites, located on the higher levels of the building. But as soon as you reach the landing and have begun making your way towards the designated door, it flings open and a pretty girl comes stumbling out. She’s giggling at something that has just happened inside, her hair a dishevelled mess which she ruffles up in an attempt to fix it. She’s adorned in a pretty little dress, the skirt of which is hiked a little higher up and one strap falling down her shoulder, as she clings her shoes and bag to her chest. She smiles at you on the way past, though she’s too far gone in her own little daze that you wonder if she even notices you at all.
But you certainly notice her, and, all at once, your reverie of him and what could be comes crashing to the ground once more.
Maybe you should have stayed, should have waited for Jungkook to let him explain, but you were too afraid to hear an answer you weren’t looking for. You try desperately not to imagine Jungkook loving someone else. You try not to think about him holding her the same way he held you, his lips finding purchase on some other girl. But by trying to avoid the thought, it beckons the unwarranted memories of how it felt to be loved all over by him once upon a time. You wonder how many girls he’s hooked up with in your time apart, and the overwhelming sense of regret washes over you.
You don’t bother to wait. You know fleeing is the easiest option rather than facing your fear, but you’re far too timid of rejection again. Instead, even before you can approach Jungkook’s hotel room and knock on the door, you turn on your heels and run.
You’re long gone by the time Jungkook comes to the door, prying it open in search of you on a whim. When he doesn’t see you, he glances up and down the hallway but to no avail. Namjoon comes slinking past inside then in his own disoriented haze, having just woken up from moments ago when the girl he had taken back to their room the night before left. Even then, Jungkook had warned the rhythm guitarist against bringing the girl back, pointing out the fact that they had much to do today ahead of their concert. Namjoon had promised it wouldn’t be long, that she would be gone in the morning, and Jungkook was fortunate enough that the suite had two separate bedrooms on the opposite ends of one another so that Jungkook didn’t have to hear whatever it was the pair were doing in the other.
“Did Mina leave?” Namjoon asks through a yawn, digging the heels of his palms into his tired eyes. When Jungkook nods, a sliver of a reminiscent smug grin tugs at Namjoon’s lips. “You missed out, Jungkook.”
The cheeky quip is met with a roll of Jungkook’s eyes. “I’m sure I’ll survive. You know I’m not like that.”
Like that━ As in midnight hook-ups and cheap thrills alike. He tried it once, far ago when you had first broken up with him, on a drunken spur of a moment as a way of healing the anguish in his heart. It hadn’t worked then; he assumed it would never work.
Namjoon seems to understand this immediately. He gives Jungkook a look that the boy doesn’t notice. “Well… is Y/N here yet?”
“No. But I’m sure she’ll be here,” Jungkook grimaces. He hopes. “Something probably came up.”
Namjoon clasps a reassuring hand on Jungkook’s shoulder, humming aloud, “Good luck, dude.”
But you never arrive, even though Jungkook waits for most of the morning, nervous eyes flickering to the door at every commotion outside, running to check only to see room service delivering breakfast or concierge showing guests to their rooms. He has no choice but to give up on the thought of you coming when Jin knocks on their door, prompting the boys to get a start on their day. Interviews and soundcheck await, but how could he possibly go on with his life without knowing what happened to you?
Which is why you stay on his mind for the rest of the day, distracting him in every aspect, mixing up his words when he’s in the midst of his interview, tripping up on stage as the boys set up and begin to rehearse. As the hours wane down to just an hour before the show, the thought of performing in front of thousands of fans starts to make him nervous and he doesn’t know why. He’s done this countless times before, almost nightly during the tour, so what stops him now? Of course he knows the answer, had grown all too accustomed to the feeling the first few months in which the break up had been so recent. It would always be about you.
But just before the show starts, Jungkook is making his way backstage from the greenroom, where the band had been waiting, to the stage. Fiddling with his in-ear piece, he almost doesn’t notice you and Dahyun weaving your way through the roadies and sound tech, being guided by Jin to the pit on the side of the stage where only family and friends are allowed. You don’t see him, and there’s a split moment where he thinks he should just let you go, until he doesn’t.
As he makes his way to you, the tour manager for the band intervenes part way, shouting out to the boy. “Where are you going? We’re on in five, Jungkook!”
“Yeah, I’ll be right back━” He waves the manager off as politely as he can, wasting no time to chase after you. He calls out your name, though it drowns out in the sound of the music being blasted through the speakers of the arena and the screaming fans. “Y/N, wait up!”
He’s relieved when he sees you stop in your tracks, turning to face him as Dahyun and Jin become lost in the chaos of the backstage. He comes to stand just before you, smiling breathlessly at you, unaware of the way your shoulders tense at the sight of him.
“You didn’t show up this morning,” he says as a way of greeting, his voice a curious prob. “What happened?”
You try desperately not to get lost in his big beautiful eyes, laced with such hope. Instead, you fold your arms over your chest, looking away. “Something came up.”
It’s then that Jungkook senses something is wrong. You’re upset with him, though he can’t tell why. Aside from the obvious rift in your relationship that had initially split you two up, you had been so pleasant to see him the night before. But he doesn’t give up just yet. “Well… you’re here now.”
You meet his gaze with your own hardened one. “For the boys.”
A shot right to his heart almost makes Jungkook gasp for air. He flinches, and then his stare softens, and you wish he wouldn’t look at you like that, out of fear that you might just relapse into his arms.
“What’s wrong?” He closes the distance between the two of you. He wants nothing more than to reach out and touch you, but refrains with much difficulty. There’s dozens of things that could be wrong, and he braces himself for your retaliation. “You didn’t want to come, did you?”
When you don’t respond, but also don’t stray from his side, Jungkook hurries to speak again if only to fill the tense silence.
“Look, last night… Maybe it was just me, but last night seemed like things were okay,” he says. “Was I wrong to feel that way?”
“Jungkook…”
“Please, just let me know,” he begs. “Because you’re all I can think about these days, it’s driving me crazy. And I don’t know what’s going on, but the reason I wanted to see you this morning was because I hate how things ended between us, and I wanted to tell you…” He swallows nervously as he trails off uncertainly. “I wanted to tell you that I’m still in love with you. And I can’t get you out of my head. These months away from you made me realize that I━”
Suddenly, you’re shaking your head and he knows you don’t believe him. As soon as the words leave his mouth, he regrets saying it, if only because they seem to enliven you. Now, you push yourself away from the boy. “I’m not doing this right now. You’re not doing this right now.”
As if to further your point, the band’s tour manager can be heard calling out frantically for the boy. “Two minutes, Jungkook!”
But Jungkook is hardly paying attention now, instead solely focused on you. “Please, Y/N━”
“No, you don’t get to say that to me,” You admonish hotly. You can’t bite the words back, no matter how hard you try. “You don’t love me. You think you love me, but you don’t.”
His jaw clenches, and his brows furrow into a frustrated stare. “I do.”
“You don’t.”
“Yes, I do.”
“Stop.” The harsh word makes Jungkook clamp his mouth shut. You shake your head furiously, but you know it’s only to distract yourself so that you don’t let the tears fall. “You’re being selfish, Jungkook. You don’t get to take all of me, love all of me, and leave, only to come back months later and pretend you’re still in love with me. And whatever this━” You gesture vaguely between the two of you, “is, or was, doesn’t exist anymore. We both need to stop pretending otherwise.”
Jungkook winces, eyes tinged with pain. “You don’t mean that.”
You don’t respond. Elsewhere, his tour manager starts to grow impatient, scolding the boy aloud, “Jungkook, we’re gonna be late. Hurry up!”
“Yeah, I’ll be there!” Jungkook calls back, irritated. Maybe he is being selfish. He’s wasting precious time by not leaving, all the hard work that the crew put into tonight’s show, and the fans awaiting his and the band’s arrival. He can still hear the crowd, this time their buzzing voices amalgamating into unanimous chanting muffled by the walls that sounds akin to the band’s name.
“You should go,” You say now. “Don’t wanna disappoint them.”
But he’d throw it all away for you if you told him to. He promised you that even before he had left for tour, before the band had been signed. Had you forgotten? Because he surely hadn’t.
“Y/N…”
“Good luck out there.”
Then, you’re gone before Jungkook can even make a move to stop you ━ but even if he did, what could he do to make you stay? The feat seemed impossible, and you always seem to find a way to slip from his grasp no matter what he does. Only this time he has no choice but to let you go, out of fear of being berated further by his tour manager or angering the boys so much to the point where he gets kicked out of the band.
He makes it on stage in time, the band filing out to take their places one at a time, deafening screams blowing out their in-ear pieces that stand no chance as each member joins the stage. The lights fizzle out until complete darkness cloaks the venue, but Jungkook still looks for you. He finds you in the pit on the side of the stage, Jin and Dahyun standing beside you, and finds it hard to keep his eyes off of you even though you attempt to pretend as if he’s not even there.
After their first adrenaline-filled opening song of the night, Jimin takes to the microphone to greet the crowd who scream back an indiscernible shout as, elsewhere, you notice Jungkook pry himself away from the microphone stand on his side of the stage to wave the rest of the boys over to Hoseok’s drum kit. They murmur amongst themselves briefly, though they go unnoticed by Jimin or the crowd as the lead singer entertains them.
“Seoul! It’s good to be back. We’ve missed you all so much━”
Jimin’s words get cut short when Jungkook, having just parted ways with the rest of his members for their impromptu meeting, beckons the lead singer over, out of range of the microphone. They seem to discuss something just as shortly as Jungkook had talked with the rest of the boys, in which time Jimin nods understandingly, then steps away from the microphone. Then, Jungkook takes to the microphone, the rings on his fingers glistening under the spotlight as he grips the stand.
“I know the night’s only getting started,” Jungkook’s voice wavers as he speaks, “but we’re gonna slow things down for a moment. We hope you don’t mind.”
Intrigued murmurs echo around the crowd, suddenly buzzing with excitement as they watch Jungkook with eager eyes. A few encouraging bellows has Jungkook smiling smally. Jin, on the other hand, looks perplexed.
“What is he doing?” Jin asks no one in particular, a quizzical look on his face. “This isn’t part of their set.”
“I think a lot of you might know this next song,” Jungkook continues, “but I don’t think I’ve ever expressed how much it means to me. This next one, I wrote for a special someone, and it sort of helped us achieve all of this. So, I think it’s time that person knows how much they mean to me.”
Jungkook glances nervously over at the boys standing behind him, each in their own respective spots. Then, sweeping his gaze across the crowd, he finally finds you already staring up at him. His own eyes soften into a look of longing, however hardened by past tribulations and sorrow it may be. As if he’s determined not to lose you again; determined to make it up to you.
“This next one is for Y/N,” he says timidly. He has to turn away from you in the next second, afraid he might just break down before the fans and the boys and you. “I’m sorry I messed up.”
As the boys take their place, with Jimin taking an acoustic and fading back from the limelight, you wonder why. But then you hear it, the familiar beginning chords making up the song you had so wholeheartedly claimed you hated. Only this time they’re gentler, made up of acoustic strums of a guitar, Hoseok’s drums, and Yoongi’s keys, all amalgamating into a pretty song almost unrecognizable.
Then, Jungkook starts singing, and what was once a wistful dreamy song of prospective lovers suddenly turns into a melancholic requiem for you. Some lyrics are changed, present tense turning to the past, and Jungkook sings his way throughout the entirety of the song in contrast to the one that plays all over the radio featuring the other member’s voices. The fans sing along, their voices melding with Jungkook’s into some sort of celestial mellifluous choir, and you’re left no longer wondering if the fans would ever know the meaning behind the song that Jungkook had brought to life. Because now, it wasn’t just Jungkook singing to you; it was the whole world. And yet, paradoxically at the same time, it felt all that much more intimate. As if it were just you and him once again, seated on the couch in his small apartment, listening to the beginnings of what would be their number one selling song.
Above all else, you realize that you don’t seem to hate the song as much you claimed to.
Tumblr media
That night, you can’t sleep.
You find yourself leaving the venue earlier than everyone else, even when the boys invite you and Dahyun to join them for celebratory drinks, returning to your home in the hopes of forgetting the night altogether. Instead, you stay up tossing and turning, your mind filled with memories consisting of only Jungkook and his haunting voice singing to you, and for you. But at some point during the night nearing one or two in the morning, just when you give up on the idea of sleep, the sound of incessant knocking at your front door rouses you from your trance.
When you finally answer the door, you’re more than surprised to see that Jungkook stands on the other side of the threshold as if coming to you from a dream. But then you register the fact that he’s a complete mess. Dark circles line his weary eyes, now smudged with that faint hint of charcoal liner he had worn for the concert, hair so messily mused beyond repair, and you notice quickly that he’s crying, fresh tears glazing over his pupils and streaking down his face. It’s startling to see him in such shambles, a complete contrast to how effortlessly charming and confident he usually portrays himself. But though you’ve seen him cry before on various occasions, now is all the more unsettling.
“I━I’m sorry.” It’s the first thing he says, screwing his eyes shut tightly as he shakes his head. He fumbles over his words, slurring them together in his rush to get them out. “I know I’m probably the last person you want to see right now, but I needed to see you.”
“Are you drunk?”
“No, no, I swear━” He pries his eyes open to meet your desolate stare, tears unabashedly falling from his lashes. His voice thins with desperation. “You said we need to stop pretending, but I’m not pretending. I never have been. And if you think ━ if you truly believe ━ that there’s nothing here between us anymore… Tell me. Right here, right now. And I’ll leave you alone forever, you’ll never have to see me again. I just━ I’ve missed you every moment and it kills me.”
You’re silent for a long period, pitying gaze sweeping over him, but he doesn’t care if he looks insane. He just needs you to know how he feels.
“Well, how do you think I felt?” You ask the question carefully, but then the memories come flooding back and the semblance of a scowl forms on your face. “You leave and suddenly everywhere I look I see you. Your song is playing everywhere, you and the guys are everywhere, and I’m reminded every day about how we ended. About how you left me.”
Jungkook blinks. He shakes his head stubbornly, the nerves in the corner of his jaw fluttering as he grits his teeth. “You were the one who said we should take a break.”
“A break!” You snap sternly. “Fuck, Jungkook. I didn’t want you out of my life forever. I wanted you to fight for me.”
“No, don’t put this all on me,” Jungkook pleads helplessly. “I have always fought for you. But the minute things got rough, you bailed. You told me you never wanted to see me again. What the hell was I supposed to do?”
“I was scared!” You try to swallow the tears away that start to form as a lump in your throat but to no avail. “I was, and I still am, so fucking scared of losing you. And you━ It felt like you gave me no choice. Like you were over it. I would have wanted to make things work but you left. You just… You left, and suddenly it was like you were never in my life at all. Seven months, and I get no word from you.”
“I fucked up, okay!” He cries out so suddenly, it silences you at once. He bites at his lip, and straightens up half-heartedly, running a hand through his hair. When he meets your stare this time, he’s zealous yet sincere. “I know that I messed up. I know. And it fucking kills me every single day. I don’t know where it went wrong, but it did, and I know it’s all my fault. When you said we should take a break and I agreed, I was only thinking about you. Because I knew I was disappointing you every day, and I was afraid that was all I would ever do, and you don’t deserve that. I thought it would be better this way, if I was just gone from your life for good. But I can’t forget you.”
“How can I trust you?” You ask. When his pained stare gawks at you, you tilt your chin a little higher. “I came by your hotel room yesterday morning, just like you asked, only to see that girl leaving.”
Jungkook’s gawk turns into a dumbfounded expression. He looks weary as he shakes his head, as if struggling to keep up with the way you accuse him now. He tries not to focus on the fact that you actually came to the hotel, then feels inconsolably terrible when he realizes why he never got to see you. “That girl was Namjoon’s fling. We were sharing the suite, and they were in a whole other room. I didn’t even think about her━”
Your stare droops from him, and he knows he’s struggling to keep you on his side.
“Okay, fine. You want trust? I’ll give it to you,” he says. A newfound sense of confidence seems to possess him, though he approaches the topic with extra caution anyway. “After we broke up, I was crushed. I couldn’t move on from you, and the guys thought I should get drunk, find a random girl to bring back to our hotel one night on tour. And I listened, because I wanted to forget you, but it didn’t work. All I could think about was you. Every time she touched me, every time she kissed me, I could only imagine it was you. And when she left that night, I broke down because I felt like such a fucking idiot. I instantly regretted it. Like, even though you and I weren’t together, I still did something to hurt you by sleeping with that girl. And all it did was hurt me too in the process.”
He pushes himself forward, taking a step over the threshold. Even despite him admitting his wrongs to you, you can’t find it in yourself to hate him. Because, at the end of it all, he’s here at your doorstep, pleading for you to forgive him, but he had already won the moment your eyes had landed on him.
“You’re the reason I am who I am today.” His voice is hoarse when he speaks, almost in a whisper. “That I get to do what I love for a living. But all of it means nothing without you. You saw me at my worst, and my best. And you were the best I ever had, and I ruined it, and the worst part of it all is that there’s nothing I can do to make up for it. But I promise I can make it better ━ I can make it right again ━ if you just give me a chance.”
There’s a short pause filled with poignant silence in which Jungkook thinks you’ll push him away or scream at him. He’s fortunate when you do neither; instead, he hears you whisper faintly.
“Kiss me, Jungkook.”
And it’s more than enough for him. His heart thrums in delight as he wastes no time in reaching out for you. His hands are warm as they come to grasp at your face, holding you delicately; then he’s leaning in to you, drawing you closer and closer until his lips are pressed against yours. It’s unadulterated, but not without feverish passion, noses smushing together in both your eager hastiness to close the distance between the two of you. It doesn’t last long either, though that’s partly because Jungkook can taste your tears mingling on your lips, and can feel your faint smile form against his mouth. Kissing him feels both foreign yet familiar at the same time. You know the feel, the taste, and the sense of comfort that comes with it, but months apart from one another has left it feeling different.
Jungkook’s thumb wipes away at the tears on your face. “Why are you crying?”
It’s a useless question, he knows, but he needs something to fill the silence. He’s relieved when he hears you snicker. “Because I miss you, you idiot. And I’m sorry I’ve been acting like such an idiot. I’ve messed everything up.”
His own shoulders quiver with contented mirth. “It’ll be okay.” As he leans in once more for another kiss, you can feel him murmur against your mouth, “I promise I’ll make it up to you.”
“Then make it right,” You say, “right here and now.”
“I’ll do anything for you,” he promises earnestly.
Jungkook understands the underlying yearning in your voice even without having you explain yourself. He knows, if only because he can feel it too. As his hands fall to your waist, fingers digging into your skin, your own arms wrap around his neck and pull him into your apartment. He has you pressed up against the nearest wall within seconds, kissing at your throat, then up to your jawline.
“It’s been so long,” he sighs.
You hum in agreement, though your mind is already spinning, and all you can muster is a weak yet urgent croak of his name. “Jungkook.”
Your fingers thread through his hair, tugging at the roots and he croons with delight. His lips finally meet yours again, only this time he lets his tongue lav at your lower lip. Almost as soon as he does so, you notice something strange. It takes a moment for you to register the small metallic object that grazes your lower lip but when you do, you pull away from the boy.
“What’s wrong?” Jungkook asks in a confused dazed.
“Is that…” You rasp. “Did you get your tongue pierced?”
Suddenly, Jungkook is smirking, one brow shooting up to his hairline in a smug demeanour. He sticks out his tongue for you to see the silver ball poking through and you almost moan at the sight of it as the thought entices you.
“Oh.” Your face warms with a flustered blush. “That’s new.”
“Yeah,” he says. “Always wanted to get it done. Guess I was saving it for the right moment.”
“Right moment, huh?” You scoff as if the implications don’t already have your thighs rubbing together. “Care to explain?”
“I think you’ll find out soon enough.”
You dissolve into a fit of giggles, marvelling at the way Jungkook’s familiar flirtatious bantering can soothe your troubled heart at once. It’s almost as if time hasn’t lapsed between the two of you.
“I’ve missed this,” You sigh. “I’ve missed you, Jungkook.”
You spot him smiling before he’s kissing you again, this time his tongue slipping past your parted lips to meet yours midway. The piercing is strange to adjust to, but you get used to it quickly, humming at the feeling of it against the soft flesh of your tongue. It’s easy to get lost in one another’s lips as you pull and tug at Jungkook, guiding him to your bedroom, nearly tripping and stumbling over one another in the process. He knows the path like the back of his hand, the same way he knows every curve and dimple of your body as his greedy hands explore you. He has you sprawled out beneath him on the bed in a matter of seconds, carelessly shedding each other of your clothes until you’re left naked and he’s without a shirt.
As he’s tugging off the hoodie you’re wearing, he realizes two things abruptly. One: you’re not wearing anything beneath it, your bare body dazzling him at once. And, two: a sudden thought jogs his memory that makes him ponder aloud, “Is this my sweater?”
“Yes,” You admit sheepishly.
He smirks. “Was wondering where it went.”
“You forgot to take it back when…” You don’t finish your sentence. Instead, you tug your fingers at the hair at the nape of his neck, as if scared he’ll leave again. He doesn’t. Instead, he nestles his body between your legs, tonguing patterns on your neck. “I wear it sometimes, especially when I’m missing you. I don’t know… It just━ It still smells like you, even after all this time.”
Jungkook’s heart nearly implodes. He wonders briefly if he’d prefer fucking you without or with the hoodie; but then he’s letting himself time to study your naked body and he deduces he needs to gaze at you in your entirety a little longer.
“Keep talking,” he murmurs. He starts kissing down your body now, starting from your throat to your collarbones, between the valley of your breasts, then your navel. “Tell me more. How badly did you miss me?”
“So badly,” You whimper. Your legs instinctively part to make way for him as he shifts downward, kissing just above your core. A shudder runs down your spine when he kisses the inside of your thigh. “Sometimes I’d put your sweater on and touch myself to the thought of you.”
He grunts against you, teeth softly biting at your flesh. His tongue pokes against your thigh, the metallic piercing a dully cold sensation as he licks upward to your core. He laps at your folds, as if to taste the glistening cum that starts to form.
Your breath audibly hitches in your throat, hips jutting forward to meet his mouth. “I missed your hands, and the way they made me feel. Missed your mouth between my legs. Missed cumming on your tongue, or your fingers.”
Now, you’re starting to understand what he meant by waiting for the right moment to use the piercing to its fullest potential. As he lifts his head higher to tongue at your clit, the piercing makes your head spin. The contrast between his soft tongue and the harsh metal works wonders against you, rubbing you just the right way that has you a moaning mess beneath him within a matter of seconds.
“Fuck━” You cry out, hands twisting in his hair. “My hands never feel the same. You always made me feel so good, Jungkook.”
He hums something in response, the sound reverberating up your spine. He busies himself by replacing his tongue with his finger, rubbing small, controlled circles against your clit as he lowers his mouth to your folds. He teases the piercing against the sensitive flesh before lapping at your insides, burrowing further into you.
“Ooh, Jungkook━”
The noise that eclipses your throat is a piqued sob of delight. The piercing that scratches against your walls has your insides throbbing, body twisting and turning beneath him. You grab at your breasts, fingers pinching at the perked buds as you imagine Jungkook’s hands in replace of yours.
His mouth wraps just right around you and he sucks hard, earning a beautiful moan from you. It doesn’t take long for you to draw closer to your high, sputtering and whimpering at every action he does. Soon he’s burrowing his face even closer against your core, nose nudging against your clit in a way that makes you writhe and squirm. Before he can get carried away (and he certainly could), Jungkook decides to come to a stop which seems to thoroughly surprise and upset you. When you feel his missing warmth between your legs and the sticky wet mess accentuated further by the cool air that hits you, you pout like a child.
“That’s not fair,” you whine.
“Sorry, baby. Need to feel you.” He pulls away from you and crawls over your body once more. He kisses your lips, sloppy and heated, and lets you taste your own succulence on your tongue. “God, I need to feel you so bad.”
You’re just as much startled as you were seconds ago to hear the slight whine in his voice, a sound hot enough to almost push you over the edge.
“I’ve missed you too, just so you know,” he moans, burrowing his face in the crook of your neck. Your fingers continue to scratch delicately at his scalp and he simpers delightfully against you. He ruts his hips eagerly against yours, the bulge in his pants rough against your core. “So fucking much.”
“How much?” Now it’s your turn to ask, your curiosity getting the best of you once you find your voice.
“Every day,” he sighs as he continues to grind his hips into yours. “Get so hard at the thought of you. Your pretty mouth moaning my name. Your hands in my hair, just like this━” You pull a little tighter at the roots of his locks, and he has to stifle his contented moan. “And your body━ Fuck, your body. You take my dick so well, baby.”
“Jungkook,” You mewl impatiently. “Wanna feel you in me.”
“Fuck, okay. Okay━”
He hastens to rid himself of his pants and you help, arms momentarily tangling with one another in your rush. Then he’s kneeling before you, one hand planted firmly on your hip, rings digging roughly against your skin, as his other hand wraps a fist around his hard length, slowly pumping himself. He guides the tip of his leaking cock to your core and pushes himself forward carefully. He easily slips past your folds, coaxed by your slick walls, that he has to pause to give you both time to adjust to the feeling. It’s just as he remembered, though somehow better, and he isn’t so sure how long he’ll last. You don’t know either, marvelling in the way he stretches you open.
“Oh, shit,” he grunts.
He watches as your jaw drops open in a silent gap, your eyes fixed only on his. You grab at his hips, fingers scratching delicately over the laurel tattoos inked there, prompting him to move. He does so in one languid movement, burying deeper and deeper into you until you feel so full and he feels so warm. He fucks into you a little sluggish at first, taking his time and enjoying the way your clenching walls feel around his throbbing cock. It’s a pace so maddening that it soon has the both of you panting, heavy moans filling the space around you. Your own fingers dig into his shoulders, his back, his hips ━ anything to keep a hold on reality as you slowly lose yourself to the pleasure. He reaches for one of your hands, eager to feel you in more ways than one, and laces his digits with yours, pressing your clasped palms above your head. You squeeze tightly, his name falling from your lips in a cry.
“Doing so good,” he mumbles through gritted teeth. “Feel so nice, baby.”
Jungkook grasps at your hips and flips the two of you over. He lands on his back on the soft mattress and you fumble to not break the pace. Firmly planting your hands on his chest, you grind against him, sweat coating your forehead. He watches you with a dark fascination, brows screwed together and jaw clenched as your own cum starts leaking down his length. Not wanting to waste another moment without being beside you, he sits up and shifts you in his lap. Then he pulls you close to him, chest pulled flush against chest to the point where he can feel the rapid beat of your heart against his. You whimper aloud, wrapping your arms tightly around his neck as he guides your hips back and forth on him. There’s little to no space between your gyrating bodies, sweaty skin sticking to one another.
At some point, Jungkook notices you’re crying again, steady tears tangling in your lashes and wetting your face. Despite the way you’re driving him to near euphoria, he brushes your hair out of your face and manages to ask, “What’s wrong? Are you okay? Are you hurt?”
“I’m sorry━ fuck,” You gasp. He can tell you’re genuinely sympathetic for whatever’s making you cry but it’s hard for you to convey it properly when you’re still so consumed by him. “I’m so sorry━ I’m okay. I just━ You feel so good, Jungkook.”
“It’s okay,” he whispers, rubbing tender circles against your waist that contrasts with the fierce burn between your legs. “You’re okay, baby. Doing so well for me, aren’t you? Cum for me, yeah?”
You won’t tell him why you’re crying ━ not yet, at least. But Jungkook thinks he knows why; he can feel it too. The bitter sense of longing and mingling regret for all the time lost. The overwhelming feeling of love of finally being reunited. You continue to roll your hips against his, and he, breathless, rubs his nose faintly against yours, resting his forehead against yours.
It doesn’t take much longer after that for you to come tumbling to you high. He strokes your hair so lovingly as you ride him recklessly, leisure rolls of your hips driving you to your high. When you cum, the feeling completely washes over you and electricity crackles in your veins, warming your entire body. He holds you close to his chest the entire time as you writhe with pleasure, your walls clenching around his cock.
“Fuck, I’m gonna━” His voice splinters off as you busy yourself by sucking a bruise onto the underside of his jaw.
He reaches his high moments later just as you’re beginning to wince at the feeling of oversensitivity. He grunts and groans, spilling his hot seed into you, and then, with his hips slammed against yours, grinds leisurely to ride out your highs.
Then, the room falls silent.
Neither of you move from your warm embrace, with you still perched on his lap, his cock softening inside you as his cum runs down his length and onto your thighs. Your face is hidden in the crook of his neck, and he waits until you’ve both calmed down from your orgasms. You’re running your fingers through his sweaty hair, but he knows you’re still sad. He kisses you all over in the meantime, a few ticklish kisses that make you smile sleepily and a few loving ones that have your heart swelling. Then, he gingerly shifts your head to look at him.
“Why were you crying?” he asks silently.
It takes you a moment to respond. You cling to him tightly when you do and all he can do is cradle you closer to him. “I don’t want this to be some kind of drunken one night stand thing. Like we both needed one last fuck to get over each other, or something."
“You mean more to me than a one night stand,” Jungkook says and it makes you smile smally, a little timidly.
“That’s good,” You say, “because I’m not over you or us. I want us to work out. I love you too much to lose you again, and I’m scared this might be the last time I’ll ever see you.”
“I’m not letting that happen,” Jungkook shakes his head furiously. “I’d be an absolute idiot to let that happen. You won’t lose me. I’m not going anywhere this time. You’re my priority, Y/N. You always have been. Not the band and definitely not the record label.”
“I’m sure the boys will love to hear that,” You snort to yourself.
“Yeah, well, I’m sure they’ll understand,” Jungkook grins. But you’re only joking, and you know he sort of is too. That’s not to say the band isn’t still important to him, but you take precedent over it. “Without you, I wouldn’t even have the chance to be where I am now.”
You nuzzle your nose against his own, and he steals one sweet kiss from you.
“Do you really mean all that?”
“With my whole heart.”
And, when he says it, you know he means it. There’s no reason not to trust him.
You’ll both move eventually from one another’s arms, soft touches from Jungkook peeling you off of him and wrapping you in your covers before falling asleep beside you, and waking up in the morning with you in his arms. But, for now, it’s just you and him, a little broken still yet all the more in love.
While you both know healing a broken heart will take time, you’re both prepared for it because you’re both worth it to one another ━ and that’s all either of you really need in the end to make it right.

Hopeful (Draco Malfoy x Hufflepuff!Reader)
Word count: 2100 sorry got a bit carried away. 😅
Warnings: None. Soft!Draco being an absolute blubbering idiot.
Draco’s thoughts are written in green
Tumblr media
Spring had arrived.
It could be felt in the cool and gentle zephyr that made the shiny new leaves on top of the once barren and dead trees rustle.
Daisies were in full bloom and the wind had managed to carry some of the petals away—making them fall to the ground, acting like a harbinger of the fast approaching summer.
Draco couldn’t be bothered if it was spring, or autumn or winter.
In that particular moment, all he wanted to do was get away from the Slytherin common room and Pansy Parkinson.
He had taken her to the Yule ball and things had sort of fizzled out afterwards. He couldn’t get himself to see her as anything other than a friend.
Having ran all the way to a far and secluded area of the Hogwarts grounds, Draco leaned against a tree trunk and panted heavily in an attempt to catch his breath.
“Are you—are you alright?”
Your voice startled him and he quickly stood up straight to look around.
You were sitting criss-crossed on the grass with your transfigurations textbook opened on your lap. Your shirt sleeves were rolled up and your yellow and black tie hugged very loosely around your neck.
“Fine.” He muttered as he slowly sat down noticing a single daisy tucked behind your ears.
After sitting there in complete silence for the next few minutes, he finally spoke up.
“What are you even doing here anyway?”
“Just wanted some peace and quiet to be honest.” You said, shrugging your shoulders. “It’s a beautiful day.”
Draco just hummed in response and kept staring at the daisy in your hair that swayed lightly with the breeze.
“What?” You asked when you noticed.
“You have—you have a twig stuck in your hair.”
“A daisy.” You corrected him as you closed your book and moved a bit closer to where he was sitting. “It’s a daisy.”
“Yeah I know that. I’m not stupid.” He said quickly. “But why?”
"Well, Daisies are essentially two flowers blended together in complete harmony." You said pulling the daisy out of your free falling hair before putting your hand forward to hand it to him.
“And?” Draco reluctantly took the flower from you and blinked his eyes in confusion.
“They are said to resemble innocence—true love even.”  You explained getting comfortable next to him.
“You believe in all that?” Draco scoffed, twirling the flower between his index finger and thumb. He couldn’t tell if the floral fragrance was coming from you or the air but it made him slightly queasy nonetheless.
“Merlin. No.” You scrunched up your nose. “It just gives me hope I guess.”
Draco gave you another hum in response. For someone who came up with snarky and sometimes witty comments on the spot, he found himself weirdly tongue tied.
“I know you were hiding from Pansy by the way.” You remarked, making a small smile pull at his lips.
“How come?”
“What do you mean how come?” You rolled your eyes. “Everyone can see that she is obsessed with you for some reason that I personally can't seem to comprehend.”
~~~~~
The next day during potions class, Draco slowly opened his book and started to absently doodle on it with his quill while Snape talked about the upcoming potions essay that had to be done in pairs.
Draco knew he should be paying attention but he just couldn’t get the interaction between you two out of his head.
And just when he took a deep breath and decided to focus, a familiar scent started to fill his lungs up.
Fruity, almost spicy notes of strawberry and pink grapefruit mixed with gardenias, vanilla and musk. It felt like someone had tossed a huge bouquet into the room.
He knew it was you without even bothering to look up from my book.
"Ah, Miss y/l/n. Late again." Snape muttered. “Five points from Hufflepuff house.”
You quietly sat down next to your friend with your head hung low and Draco fought an unexplainable urge to give you a hug.
"The essay must be done in pairs.." Snape said.
Great.
"Ronald Weasley and Gregory Goyle."
This is exactly what I needed right now. Thanks Snape.
"Blaise Zabini and Hannah Abott."
The last thing I need is someone weighing my essay down.
"Draco Malfoy and y/n y/l/n."
What?
You turned back to look at Draco and gave him  an apologetic smile and he didn't understand why you kept smiling at him. It's not like the both of you had suddenly formed an unlikely bond with each other.
Draco scowled at you in return and quickly raised his hand. "May I work on my essay alone?"
"No. You may not Mr. Malfoy."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You and Draco had been studying in the library for almost an hour. Because you were quietly sitting next to him, his elbows and knees slightly brushed yours every few seconds and as much as he hated to admit it, He secretly enjoyed it.
Contrary to yesterday, Draco was trying very hard to make a conversation with you. You seemed somewhat offended that he had asked Snape to work on the essay alone.
“I am happy to do most of the writing if you can look up all the ingredients.” You offered.
You don’t have to do all of that yourself. I am happy to help with the writing too. Is what he should have said.
“Fine whatever.” He said instead as he reached for a copy of One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi.
That night, Draco stayed up tossing and turning in his bed before giving up on getting any sleep for the night.
He lethargically walked towards his dresser and put his hands in his blazer pocket pulling out the now dried and pressed daisy from the other day.
Taking a deep breath, he put the flower in between the pages of his copy of One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi.
You were drawing him in, undoing him, unraveling him even.
He knew that.
But did you?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Draco! Open up."
His head jolted towards the door and He quickly walked over to open it.
You stood on the other end with books tucked in your arms, wearing your denim shorts and a plain white tank top—looking like summer personified.
The more time he spent with you, the more he started to notice your quirks. Like that the way your skin glowed as the days got warmer.
Compliment her. Do it. It’s not Difficult.
“Did you do something different to your hair?”
“Uh—no why are you asking.”
“It just looks a bit strange.” He commented wanting to slap himself.
"Okay, well are you going to let me in?" You questioned, wondering why he was blocking the way and asking you about your hair.
Why did you have to wear that God damned tank top-
"Sorry?" You asked stepping inside making his cheeks burn when he realized he wasn’t meaning to say that out loud.
"Just shut up and get back to working in the essay or whatever it is that you were doing." Draco grumbled feeling embarrassed as he grabbed some fresh parchment.
Okay. Focus. The Strengthening solution requires...
You stretched a little and pushed your hair away from your face.
several days to mature...
"Staring is rude Draco." You suddenly interrupted his thoughts as you set your eyes on his—peering right into his soul.
Draco felt like he was giving you some sort of power over him and the possibility of you using that power and leaving him heartbroken made him feel so very vulnerable.
He couldn't take the vulnerability a second longer.
 "I don't think we should study together anymore." He blurted quickly standing up. “It's for the best.”
"Huh?" You stood up contorting your face in total confusion—wondering just what you had done to piss him off. "What's wrong Draco? Did I do something wrong?"
"Leave. Now." He muttered with his teeth clenched.
Please don’t go.
"Just go—leave please."
You couldn’t help but feel a sharp sting burning your insides as you gathered all the books that were on the floor and ran made your way towards hufflepuff dormitories with tears threatening to flood your eyes.
As soon as you ran off, he punched his wall and muttered out the plethora of angry curses when the impact bruised his knuckles.
~~~~~~~~~~~
During the following week, Draco failed to show up to any of your shared classes after you had refused to talk to him after what happened.
Even if you did manage to see him walking down the halls or walking with Crabbe and Goyle, you noticed that he looked like he hadn’t eaten or slept in days.
On a Tuesday, Draco looked at the Hufflepuff table during breakfast and when you caught his eye, all you did was look away.
Everyone at school had their opinions about him—most of them weren’t good opinions.
But when you were with him under that tree, he seemed different. His smirk was more playful than condescending. It managed to charm you in a way.
You took a final bite of your toast and gathered all your books, walking to your Potions class.
His seat still remained empty and you shook your head, trying to snap away from the thoughts of him as you flipped open your book.
Only it wasn’t your book.
You didn’t remember writing on the margins and making annotations on your book.
Running your fingertips along the pages, you flipped to the very first page of the book.
D. Malfoy was written in ridiculously neat handwriting and you shook your head when you realized that you had grabbed his book with you that day by mistake.
And just when you were about to put his book away, something fell from in between the pages and fell onto your desk.
It was the daisy you had woven into your hair the other day. Even in its dried state, the petals remained intact like her had done something to keep them that way.
When class was finally over, you made a quick beeline towards the slytherin dungeons, bumping into people along the way.
~~~~~~~~~
“Some hufflepuff girl is standing outside the dungeons asking to see you.” Theo shrugged when he saw Draco at the common room sofa. “Says it's urgent.”
He felt terrified yet so elated as he quickly stood up and made his way outside.
“Here’s your book.” You said taking a step towards him. “You never told me what’s wrong by the way.”
“Thank you.” Draco quickly took his book from you and stared at the ground.
“Why did you stop talking to me y/n?”
“You told me to go away—If I remember correctly.” You said shaking your head at him. “Tell me Draco, what’s wrong?”
“Everything.” He said quietly, meeting your gaze.
"What do you mean?"
"You make me feel all weak.....and smiley...and I hate it." He looked at you with agitation.
"Weak?" You ran your  fingers through your hair in confusion.
"And your ridiculous white tank top." Draco half yelled.
"What's wrong with my top?" You asked, raising your voice slightly as if you had had enough of this.
"Nothing is wrong except for the fact that you look stunning in it.” He blurted involuntarily. "It is absolutely distracting when one is trying to study!."
He watched you open your mouth in shock and close it. Before he could spend another minute trying to solve the riddle that was your expression, you grabbed him by his tie and placed your lips on his.
His brows furrowed as he kissed you back tenderly. Tasting the sweetness of your lips—pouring out every bit of suppressed passion and adoration he felt for you with his lips.
There was something so strange and euphoric about finally kissing someone he had been longing to kiss for so long.
Something so magical about holding the person that fits perfectly into his arms.
Freaking Finally.
He was slightly disappointed when you slowly backed away, but the glow on your skin and the glossy ness in your eyes made him smile.
"I guess I'll leave before I realize the consequences of what I have just done." You said softly as you held his face and placed a small peck on his lips.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next day, you found a tiny box and an envelope on your desk when you woke up. Your roommate let you know that Draco Malfoy had stopped by late last night when you were asleep and half begged and half threatened her to leave the box on your desk.
You slowly opened the box and found a bedazzled and whimsical looking daisy necklace, encrusted with gems.
A Daisy for my daisy.
You give me hope.

Who is the most needy while in heat?
I decided to write for a few characters for different categories: Clingiest, Horniest, Territorial and Requires Support. Enjoy~
Who is the clingiest:
1.     Itachi – Itachi has only ever had soft heats in his life(heats that are not sexually, but instead emotionally charged). He didn’t have his first heat until he was already part of the Akatsuki and didn’t feel safe enough for a proper heat. His health also isn’t the best, so his body knows to have soft heats rather than normal heats. Because he only has these types of heats, they are very strong. He feels a constant urge to be by your side, ideally with you touching him at all times. He can’t take suppressants because they mess with his illness, so he can’t minimise the effects. He spends the two days holed up in his room, the door locked and sealed shut. He won’t let you leave his nest much, growling and whining if you try. His instincts are screaming at him that he has to protect you and that you have to protect him. He can get a little addled and confused because the impulses are too strong. He’s extremely clingy in heat and he hates it. He always feels embarrassed afterwards.
2.     Izuku – Izuku is prone to crying and feeling very rejected if you neglect him during his preheat or heat. He feels the sting of rejection very strongly and feeling abandoned during a heat is… not good for omegas to put it lightly. It can make them sick if it’s serious enough. So, Izuku will definitely try and keep you in his nest as much as possible, asking wordlessly to be carried with you if you need to leave for a moment. Going to work or leaving the house during his heats (even when he’s on suppressants) is a no-no for him. He will do anything to get you to stay with him, including but not limited to hiding your keys, seducing you, and begging.
3.     Mammon – From the second he’s in preheat, he literally will not leave you alone. He’s very attention starved, but his slight tsundere tendencies keep him from acting on his need for affection. His heat and preheat remove the tsundere tendencies and make him even more desperate for attention. He’s hanging off of his Alpha constantly, following them around and sleeping in their room. He enjoys laying on top of them while they stroke his hair or rub his back. Will growl away anyone who tries to take you from him. If the growling doesn’t work, he’ll whine at you to stay with him because he knows you can’t refuse him when he’s like that.
4.     Kaoru – He doesn’t like how clingy he is, but it’s very uncomfortable for an omega to ignore their heat urges, so he doesn’t bother trying to resist it. He’s very prone to loneliness when he’s in heat or preheat, so he likes it if you’re with him as much as possible. He will spend most the time sitting on your lap, innocently and not so innocently.
5.     L – He isn’t particularly fussed about constant physical affection, but he wants you to be in the same room as him at all times. He constantly turns away from his work to make sure you’re still sitting in the room with him, and in the evenings, he likes if he can sit on your lap while he works. His heats are reduced from suppressants, and his libido is very low generally, but he still likes to make sure his alpha is safe and with him during his heat and be surrounded by his alpha’s scent.
Who is the most territorial during heat:
1.     Sasuke – Will straight up growl at anyone who gets too close to you both, and it won’t end well if someone shows up at his house when he’s in heat. Sasuke immediately views whoever it is as a threat and would likely try and attack them, especially if they were a stranger or someone he didn’t like. He is a lot less stressed during this time if you both just hole up at home for his preheat and heat. One of the reasons he makes his nest in a walk in wardrobe is because it’s an easily defendable place.
2.     Shikamaru – He has to have an arm around you or vice versa at all times. He makes sure you always smell like him during his preheats, just as a warning to other omegas. In heat, he gets very intense and caught up in the feelings, so interruptions from outsiders will be jarring and he’s likely to react aggressively.
3.     Shinsou – Is very paranoid when in heat and preheat. He gets nervous about people coming to try and hurt him and his mate while he’s weak, so he doesn’t like anyone he doesn’t know around you or him. Shinsou is fiercely protective of his family and his alpha. When he’s actually in heat, he would probably try to attack anyone who got too close.
4.     Belphie – Likes to just lay down and sleep with you when he’s in preheat, and whenever any of his brothers (or anyone else) try and get you to move, he growls them away, wrapping his arms around your chest to stop you from going anywhere. Would definitely bite someone if they were brave enough to try and remove him from you by force. When he’s in heat, he uses compulsion charms to keep people away from the attic where he likes to spend his heat with you.
5.     Diavolo – He can’t keep his hands or lips off of his alpha during preheat, but not just in a horny way, mainly in a ‘they’re mine’ kind of way. He likes to show off his relationship to others as a warning to stay away. He is delightfully smug if you return the treatment.
6.     Kusuo – He pretends he isn’t being territorial when he’s in preheat, but whenever you end up in conversation with someone, Kusuo is just suddenly standing next to you, I wonder how that happened? He also makes a way greater effort to ditch anyone who might interrupt his alone time with you. He turns his friends away if they show up at his door when he’s in preheat. When in heat, he gets off on the ‘you’re mine and I’m yours’ aspect.
7.     Light – This boy in greedy for your attention when he’s in preheat, and very bitter if he doesn’t get enough of it. He directs most of his anger at anyone who he perceives as taking you away from him. He will lie and manipulate others away from you both during this time with zero hesitation or regret. Would be possessive if you gave too much attention to a book while he’s in heat.
Who needs the most support:
1.     Alois – I headcanon that Alois has some specific heat related trauma, that I’m not going to get into right now, that impacts him greatly. His alpha is his protection. He only feels safe during his heat if you’re there with him. If you leave him alone, even just for a minute, he will panic, fear mixing with his already heat addled brain. For that reason, he needs a great deal of support, he needs a gentle touch and a constant presence.
2.     Shouto – His father paid to have him on illegal grade suppressant without him knowing just after Shouto’s quirk came in. Endeavour got the quirk he wanted, but not the dynamic he wanted, so he tried to change that. He experiences similar heats to Neji when he first comes off of suppressants. He’s so sensitive everywhere that it hurts. He wants to be touched so badly, but it hurts him. His alpha needs to work with him slowly to help him overcome the sensitivity.
3.     Neji – I mentioned before that due to the suppressant abuse that was inflicted on Neji as a child, his heats can be very painful, especially at first, much like Shouto. For a more in-depth analysis, I have headcanons on Neji’s suppressant abuse listed on my pinned masterlist.
4.     Keigo (Hawks) – He suffers from really bad paranoia during his heats. At first, it’s unclear what’s triggering the paranoia, but eventually it becomes clear that his treatment in the hands of the Commission have left him some nasty mental scars. When Keigo is in heat, he needs to have the door locked and bolted, the windows lock and covered with thick curtains and blinds, he needs to be rid of all technology or anything a person could use to contact him, and he needs all supplies to be in his nest with him so that neither you nor him have to leave that one room. It’s why the room he nests in must have an ensuite. He tends to have soft heats (emotionally charge rather than sexually charged) because his paranoia makes his body think he’s in too much danger to have a proper heat. It’s lucky that his heats normally only last for a day.
 (N-sfw under cut~)
Who is the horniest:
1.     Sebastian – He barely manages to keep it together during the day when he has to serve Ciel, but at night? You better be fucking him so well that he can’t stay coherent. He needs a full eight hours of sex before the heat withdraws enough for him to focus. A demon’s heat is very intensive after all.
2.     Kakashi – Every little thing sets him off when he’s in heat. Maybe you knotted him and the heat is subsiding a little, but then you bit your lip or stretch in a certain way, and immediately he’s consumed by his heat again. He struggles to keep it in his trousers long enough to hydrate and sleep. Sometimes he needs to cockwarm his alpha just to be able to calm his instincts enough to sleep.
3.     Tamaki A – He gets so horny at the peaks of his heat that any and all nervousness completely vanishes. He will beg his alpha shamelessly to get what he needs. He cannot control his voice at all, so you better hope your neighbours are forgiving, because Amajiki shouts some filthy things when he feels really good.
4.     Asmo – No one is surprised that he is completely and overwhelmingly horny for his entire heat. Most omegas have down moments for resting and hydrating while their heat isn’t so bad. Not Asmo. His heat lasts for three days (a maximum amount) and is intense for all of it. You have to make him to eat and drink something while he begs and writhes on your lap for you to fuck him.
5.     Kiba – Has a very high sex drive in general, even when he’s not in heat, so it’s no surprise that he’s basically insatiable when he’s in heat. He jumps his alpha five times a day when he’s in preheat, and every hour when he’s in heat. If you can’t provide for him as often as he needs, he will absolutely buy a knotted dildo and use it while he’s on top of you. Most of the time that convinces his alpha to help him get off.
