She lays her feet on his lap, head thrown back in exhaustion and finally content to have some relief. She’d been swelling all day and her skin felt tight.

“What bullshit,” Austin says, pausing his ministrations to glare at the TV. She wiggles her toes to get him to continue, sighing contently when he does so.

She thinks of the past year and the rumors that have swirled. At first it began small as fandom drama and as time went on media outlets began to pick up on her absence as well. She and Austin were aware that there’d be some push back but it never occurred to her the length people would go to proving they weren’t together and had both seemingly moved on.

Arizona had been her safe haven. She was thankful for Ashley being willing to watch Luci at any time, for Austin’s grandparents who cooked her favorite foods every single day, and his father and step-mom who bought her body pillows and slippers and anything she may need to feel better.

She thinks of Austin and what he must have had to face bouncing back and forth between Los Angeles and New York and Arizona to keep her happy and relaxed. She hadn’t faced the paparazzi or the fans but he had multiple times and he remained patient and understanding of her needing to grow their baby away from the public eye.

Peeking an eye open, she finds him still glaring at the TV. She’s unsure why they’re even watching but she’s too lazy to reach for the control. He’s got on his grey sweatpants, soft against the skin of her legs, and white T-Shirt with his thin gold chain. She smiles, feeling love and gratitude and disbelief swell in her chest that this was her life, this wonderful man was her husband, and they were going to welcome another baby together.

It may not have been planned but it was a happy occasion all the same.

She sits up, planting a big kiss against his cheek. Austin turns, eyes crinkled with his smile.

“What was that for?” He plants his own kiss on her forehead.

She shrugs, “Just felt like it.” Her eyes are welling with tears and she’s sure if she begins expressing her gratitude to him the waterworks would fall. She hopes he knows though, hopes he can feel it radiating off her.

She thinks he must, because he pulls her in closer with an arm around her shoulder, tucking her face into his neck. She presses another kiss to his collarbone as he places his other hand against her belly. Immediately there’s a kick.

She grunts. “He always knows when it’s you.” When Austin had to travel it’s like their baby boy knew and he wasn’t happy, he’d begin spinning and fluttering in what she assumed was his version of a tantrum.

“Mom-eeee.” Luci joins them, pointing to the TV where her face is gracing them. She grimaces at the photo chosen and Austin laughs, kissing her hair. “Say hi to brother.” Luci falls to her mom’s lap to press a kiss on the belly, right above Austin’s hand, and begins mumbling secrets. She feels more fluttering in her belly and by Austin’s smile she’s sure he felt it too.

“I love you.” She says, peering up to him. He hums, leaning down to steal a kiss.

Hey! I'm relatively new to the Austin fandom, and first of all, I just wanted to say you really opened my eyes about the Kaia situation, so thanks! Second of all, I wanted to know your opinion on something: judging by his sister's follows on instagram, and his grandmother (I think it's his grandmother)'s posts on Facebook, Austin seems to have been raised in a conservative family. I know it's none of my business and that "stalking" his family like this can come off as disrespectful, but the thing is: as a leftist, I try to be very mindful of the people I dedicate my time and attention to. Austin never discussed his political views publicly, right? Do you think this is maybe because he is afraid of a certain backlash he might receive if he "came out" as a conservative/republican? I really avoid putting famous people on pedestals and idealizing them too much, and I know some people think it's stupid to care about artists' political views, but I'd still be kinda disappointed if I found out his values are so different from mine. I'll be honest, I don't usually like getting into political topics or views here on my blog. But since your ask seemed genuine, I'll try to give you my honest opinion.

Honestly? I think you should just take Austin for face value and not worry about what political party he might (or might not) belong to. As far as I'm aware, he's never really mentioned any real political views, and hasn't even identified himself with any specific political party. (Someone can correct me if I'm wrong)

I think one of the reasons why our country is so divided right now is because people have stopped seeing people as individuals, and they just see people as from one party vs from another party. 🥴 Personally? I don't think that's really fair.

I prefer to base my opinions about someone on a case by case individual basis. I have met some wonderful people from all various walks of life and different political views. I think it's also good to keep in mind that even people inside of a political party may not always agree with everything the party believes or represents.

Going back to Austin --

I choose to look at who Austin the man is, and everything that I've seen of him so far over all these years have been nothing but positive. I see how he treats both men and women. I watch how he treats people from various diverse backgrounds. I saw how he boldly spoke out about racism and "White Privilege" during the murder of African-American George Floyd back in 2020. I have also paid close attention to how he talks to others, how respectful he is of everyone, and how he doesn't treat anyone differently (not even his fans) no matter their position in life.

I have seen how he gave a homeless man food in the streets, how gentlemanly he is with women (i.e. opening up car doors, helping older women up on stage, etc.), and how kindly he speaks of everyone (don't think I've heard him speak badly about anyone tbh). I've also seen how gracious and loving he is to his fans. Friends of mine who have met him in person have echoed the same thoughts that he really is a sweetheart to everyone and how wonderful it was to meet him. I've also heard how everyone in Hollywood who meets and works with him describes him as being very "kind".

I've even looked at his old tweets and Tumblr posts! You can even find his old tweets and Tumblr posts online from when he was a teenager to a young adult, and all of them are so wholesome and adorable. 🥰 While some celebrities are out here getting canceled for their old scandalous Tweets from years ago, with Austin, even as a young guy, you never found him saying anything misogynistic, racist, fat-phobic, mean, or just plain rude online. He's usually always been very positive.

All of these things combined go on to paint the picture of a man who really truly is just genuine, kind, down to earth, and good-hearted. 💕 🥹

I know some people might not feel the same way that I do, and I know that Austin isn't perfect, but based on what I've seen of Austin, he really does seem like just a good guy.

I don't really follow closely what celebrity family members post or who they follow, but I think it's very important to realize that just because your family member has a particular view, it doesn't necessarily mean that you have that same exact view also.

Yet another Taurus and Scorpio rising uniting: Austin Butler and Kaia Gerber synastry analysis

Today we're going to be looking at the synastry of the "it" Hollywood pair: Austin Butler and Kaia Gerber. Are they truly the perfect match for each other or is this just another couple that looks good on the surface but won't stand the test of time? Let's take a deep dive into their charts and see what's up.

As always, let's look at their individual charts first.

Austin's chart screams stability to me. He has a slow and steady Taurus rising and a Leo Sun - both fixed signs that are known for their loyalty and devotion. Aside from that beautfiul cazimi Jupiter, he has a stellium in Virgo - a mutable sign that may like to change their mind a bit but still, being an earth sign, it likes a set routine and knows that things require work. It is even more pronounced since both his love planets, which happen to rule his ascendant-descendant axis, are a part of that Virgo stellium. It also falls in the 5th house of romance, which definitely may make him a charmer. This is also probably a reason why he hasn't proposed to his long-term ex Vanessa - a 7th house ruler in the 5th often signifies people who don't marry, for various reasons. This doesn't mean they can't commit though, especially when said ruler is in a relatively stable sign.

What supports this in his chart is Moon in Sagittarius, which, of course can be devoted and loyal, but it still needs a sense of freedom. Sagittarius is also the sign of free thinkers and those who go with their heart and philosophy so it wouldn't surprise me if he was one of the people who thinks marriage is just a paper.

When it comes to Kaia, she shares the same ascendant-descendant axis as Austin, just reversed: she's a Scorpio rising with the ruler Mars in Sagittarius. A fiery ascendant ruler endows her with a bit more spunk. This is even more pronounced by her Venus in Leo. The planet of beauty and romance rules her 7th house of partnerships and is high up in the 10th house - she probably loves to show off her partner and shower them with affection and compliments. A descendant ruler in the 10th house also points to a partner who is a prominent figure, especially in the flashy Leo. You probably won't see her date "a nobody".

Easy breezy compatibility

Their synastry shows pretty good compatibility, that is because their planets occupy the same signs and elements. There is no single planet that is sticking out from the rest. Their Suns are in a neighbouring signs, which on paper should bring clashes of personalities but they get enormous help from other personal planets: Austin has Sun and Jupiter in Leo, while Kaia has Venus in Leo. On the other hand, she's a Virgo Sun but he has that stellium of planets in the sign. We get a similar thing with his Sagittarius Moon and her Sagittarius Mars. With these two in particual there's somewhat a double whammy since her Moon in Pisces is opposite (very tightly!) his Mars in Virgo. This is the strongest aspect they have between fast-moving planets and it's not one for the faint of heart. Moon-Mars aspects makes your heartbeat go faster but can also potentially make your blood boil if not handled with maturity (also, it's a baby-making aspect fyi). But going back to the previously mentioned aspects, it's important to point out that they are all sign-based. What it means is that, they are very compatible but aren't necessarily very attached to each other. Synastry charts like this often appear between people who are together (and they can be together for a very long time), but they often don't spend much time in each other's company, usually because of busy schedules. For them it would absolutely make sense since they are probably very busy people, especially since Austin's acting career has blossomed.

Generally their synastry looks very upbeat and energetic. The physical chemistry is very much present between them and so is the importance of spending quality time (Virgo influence) and having adventures together (Sagi/Pisces influence).

Okay but what about longevity?

For this we look to Saturn and Jupiter. They both have their Saturns in air signs but those are unfortunately poorly aspected. Her Saturn remains completely unaspected, while his is receiving a trine from her Libra Mercury - this one definitely does support everyday living and cohabiting as well as taking each other seriously. But is this enough?

When it comes to Jupiter, things look a bit better although it's not ideal to see their Jupiter placements are in neighbouring signs as they may not be on the same page when it comes to values and legal issues (and just to give a background, him and Vanessa Hudgens had Jupiter squares, which often points to some obstacles in getting married). Here we have a double whammy of Jupiter opposite Uranus and his Jupiter trining her Mars. Interestingly, the former might suggest unconventional approach to the relationship and ditching tradition. Or, again, some clashes where one wants to legalize the relationship and the other is rebelling againts that. In their case the Jupiterian clashes of priorities and personal beliefs might be the sign of their age difference.

Interestingly, we just had the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Taurus - Austin's 1st house and Kaia's 7th house, which makes me wonder what might've happened at that time for them. As the conjunction ties back to the opposition in their synastry chart and symbolises the union between the two, triggering it.

Their 7th house rulers aren't aspecting each other either because again, those are semi-sextiled (his Mars and her Venus). This relationship might continue, especially that it has a lot of energizing and uplifting aspects and having opposite ascendants act like a magnet, so I do see the excitement of a thought of being together, maybe even getting engaged at the whim (or under pressure), but I don't necessarily see them tying the knot after all.

Overall this is a pretty decent synastry for an easy-breezy low-key relationship and it surely makes them look good next to each other. The attraction is there, the level of emotional and physical intimacy is there as well and it may seem all lovey-dovey but their synastry tells me that really sticking through thick and thin would require from them a lot of energy and willpower.

What influences the couple?

Their relationship is marked with Venus cycles. The pair started dating in December of 2021 and if you remember your astro dates, you might recall that it was a period of Venus retrograde in Capricorn. If we want to time their relationship then, we could assume changes between the two (good or bad) might occur late 2025/early 2026 or 2029/2030. Any other period of Venus' retrogradation or Venus-Pluto conjunctions might act as bookmarks in the relationship as well.

I searched for the first reports of them dating and what I've found is that - and this is important - the news popped up when Venus stationed retrograde in a conjunction with Pluto. This is very significant but it raises some of my doubts. This might be an actual astro red flag as Venus-Pluto aspects can be pretty volatile or can uncover some uncomfortable truths. Although, fun thing to point out, you guys probably know that I don't use modern rulership but the interesting thing about it is that Venus and Pluto signify their ascendant/descendant rulers so it's funny to see them coming together during the conjunction of those two planets.

When it comes to transits, at that time Austin went through his exact Jupiter opposition - the great benefic was in the last degrees of Aquarius, aspecting his natal Jupiter and Sun. He was also going through his 7th house profection year, which is very fitting for starting a new relationship. A transit like this surely is significant and marked with beneficial and expansive power of Jupiter (the transit surely did help him with expanding his acting career).

Kaia also had some Jupiterian themes going on at that time as she went through a Cancer profection year and Cancer is where her natal Jupiter resides. Interestingly, in December 2021 her Venus received not only a direct opposition from Saturn but also a square from Uranus. As far as Saturn, even in harsh aspects, can sometimes solidify things, being influenced by Uranus makes me raise my brows. Relationships that start during Uranus transits often either don't last too long or are in some way unconventional so I do wonder how things will progress for them.

Let's compare the Taylor/Joe article with the Page Six one, shall we:

T/J: "Joe will travel with her when he can,"

A/K: "Although we’re told Butler was initially supposed to join the outing, the “Elvis” star got stuck at work."

T/J: "They are great together. Joe is super supportive of her career."

A/K: "Austin Butler and Kaia Gerber are doing great." "— who have busy schedules due to their respective thriving careers — "

Both articles basically lay out, that the couples are busy but there is nothing wrong, not to worry. They make excuses as to why both men are not with their partners. And the fact, that with A/K they keep using "no trouble in paradise" is just a direct reference to the L&S article from May. Why try to deny it now, months later? Why not deny rumors when she was pictured with Marcello? Why did he untag himself from those pics? Why is this article coming out now that K is getting more exposure from her Time100 feature? If she needs to make sure everything is fine, maybe she should have considered not fueling these rumors for weeks. I genuinely think they are on the brink of a breakup she just doesn't want the bad press, cause I'm sure she's not the one to want to end this.

On a side note, we barely ever got reports like this from T/J throughout their entire relationship, only some blurry pap pics. When this article came out a lot of fans were suspicious why they needed to confirm they are doing "great". A few weeks later they broke up.

I understand what you’re talking about, I want to lay out the whole situation here.  We initially wanted to work out the situation in private with the person you’re talking about, but it does seem like we need to explain everything here.

In brief: We received an ask about Portia that we of the mod team didn’t want to post.  When the person reached out about their ask we sent a brief response explaining that we didn’t want to post it.  We also, mistakenly, thought that person had sent a previous anon about Kaia that we were similarly uncomfortable with.  The person later questioned our lack of clarity regarding this, and other bloggers chimed in that they felt we were performing an act of erasure by not wanting Kaia on the blog.  This situation is somewhat multi pronged, so I’ll cover it in two sections.

Portia:  

Portia as a character is, in our opinion, written in an extremely poor and racist manner in the episode itself. She calls a white man “master” and turns into a dog, and a huge amount of the episode is taken up with jokes about her being a dog. This plays into a long cultural history of Black women being dehumanized and sexualized by being compared to animals.

We felt that the ask we got furthered that treatment - in our opinion, it thoughtlessly replicated the racism of the original episode, only replacing the white male “master” with a white female “master,” and continuing to compare Portia to a dog.  While the ask approached this from first a kink, and then a comedic perspective, given the extremely loaded histories present with both, we felt uncomfortable with the ask as a whole.

When presented with an ask about her (something we hadn’t anticipated because she’s a fairly minor character in the show as a whole), we thought the better move would just be to not publish the ask.

The person who sent the Portia ask reached out and asked why their piece was not being published, and we overreacted by telling the original ask-sender that we were banning the character. This was mostly because, again, we didn’t have a policy worked out in advance, since Portia is a one-episode character and Supernatural is long. We were shocked that she came up, and shocked at the content of the ask.

We have decided that banning Portia was a mistake. But please don’t send us another ask where she’s calling a white woman “master.”

Kaia:

Kaia is again a situation where we should have had more clarity from the beginning, we apologize for that.

We of the mod team discussed Kaia when we were forming this blog.  We’ve seen indigenous bloggers arguing for her inclusion in fanworks, and indigenous bloggers arguing against her inclusion in fanworks, and we certainly see both sides of the argument.  Kaia, as presented in the show, isn’t always written very well, but fandom is also a space to flesh out and explore characters.

Ultimately, the reason we decided to not discuss Kaia in the event was twofold; firstly, the only ask we received about Kaia involved Claire kidnapping AU! Kaia, subject matter we feared unintentionally veered too close to actual racist dynamics in the real world.  Secondly, and more broadly, most Kaia content is in the form of the Dreamhunter ship, which is often not concerned with Kaia as a person: she’s just a body for Claire to be interested in.  Given that this is a toxic femslash event, our concern was that fanworks with this ship would (again unintentionally) replicate real world racism.

Since seeing the post you’re referring to, we of the mod team have talked it over, and have ultimately decided that we are okay with Kaia and Dreamhunter being submitted to this blog.  Our concerns are more of a case by case thing, and we do not want to silence anyone who is interested in Kaia as a character and wants to explore her further.

Final Points:

In regards to the last point, of having to decide things on a case by case basis, this is where I think a lot of the lack of clarity you point out comes from. Ultimately, when it comes to issues like this in fanworks, it’s hard to create any sort of blanket ban that’s effective.  For instance, banning works where characters of color are kidnapped would be incredibly unhelpful; it would stifle works that are perfectly fine and would fail to meaningfully prevent racist works from being submitted.

Additionally, it’s not like Kaia is the only character who ends up being handled in a racist way by fandom - if we banned every character who was frequently handled in a racist way by fans, it would be an all-white event.

If you look at the asks we receive, white characters are disproportionately in the “main character” role and characters of color are disproportionately in the “love interest”/”object” role. We don’t really have a good solution for this, and it’s not like every ask that fits this pattern is some horrible act of racism, it’s just statistics, along with the show being a racist text that fleshes out white female characters more than female characters of color. The answer probably isn’t to ban prompts where white women are the main characters and women of color are the love interests. But it’s not really a problem we have a good solution for. 

In the end, because of this, we’ve decided to allow Kaia and Dreamhunter.

Ultimately, we’re trying our best to create an event that encourages people to think more deeply and do more interesting things with all women in Supernatural, including women of color, and I want to apologize if we haven’t managed to do that. 

While we’ve always reserved the right to not boost certain works, we now see that more clarity will be helpful, and hope this communication provided it.  If a similar situation comes up again, we will discuss it more openly on the blog itself in order to maintain transparency.

I appreciate you reaching out in regards to this; I hope after laying out our reasoning that this makes a little more sense.  I want to apologize if you still feel uncomfortable participating in this event, but I wish you the best either way.

I feel like it’s a PR relationship 100% kaia is using his fame for her own career. Like she did for Jacob elordi when they just so happened to be dating when season 2 of euphoria got released. Same thing when she dated Pete Davidson right when he was blowing up on snl. She needs to stick to modeling truly. I hope it’s just like a two year contract and we will here that they’ve “split up” by January. I’m sure he’s getting paid for it. It’s also so suspicious to me how she apparently started dating Austin not even a month after her split with Jacob when there 1 year anniversary was the month before. I also don’t fully blame her and I’m sure her parents have something to do with it wanting to get her name out there like she isn’t Cindy Crawfords daughter and couldn’t get any role she wanted without dating a man who was trending at the time. I just want Austin to be happy. I also hope she realizes that Austin’s not gonna want to get married for like 2-3 years minimum. He’s gonna wanna work on his career. Doesn’t mean he won’t actually date but he’s not gonna settle down anytime soon. I just want their relationship to be over. I don’t want to hate on Kaia but it’s just so frustrating when she is a literal model because of her mom, she’s an “actress” because of her mom. It’s not for her being her. Like all nepo babies nowadays are successful because of their parents.

What's crazy to me is she looked so much more suited and happier with Jacob Elordi. They were always snuggled up to each other and he looks more her speed. If they were PR then they did a very convincing job because he actually looked happy to be loved up on her and to be seen with her, unlike someone we know lol. And she looked happy to be with him. Plus, she actually posted him to her socials and they talked about one another all the time in the papers. So. It's wild the 360 there between Elordi and Austin.

And yes I do remember that she was broken up with him and then 1 month later she was seen with Austin. That's buckwild, and the fact we still do not know at all how they got together in the first place is very strange

But yes to everything you express here. Also the thing with Austin, I feel like he's still focused on his career that i think 2-3 years isn't long enough of a gap to be honest. He was with V for 9 and he never popped the question. This man is dead set serious on his career first. And conveniently so he also uses that as his excellent and genuine excuse to not allow engagement rumors to flame with K, seeing as that died in less than half an hour with a quickness on social.

Let's just be fucking real here, K is not his forever girl. I feel like whenever Austin meets his one true love that he'll marry then he'll be all about it. People are getting married AND having children at older ages now, and while he's only gonna be 32 this year that is still young to where he could wait until mid/late 30s to get hitched. Who knows. The man has plenty of time, he's in no rush clearly. She however is only 21 and she's still a child and she needs more time to mature and grow as an adult with life experience. As a near 30 year old woman I remember how I thought i was tough shit and knew everything at her age and thought i was soooo grown up. But hell no, you're still a kid.

When someone is dying to get married, you have to question the reason why. There could be deep seated insecurities where by a certain age one feels like their clock is ticking and they need to settle down with the next available person immediately. Or maybe it's for security financially, etc. It could also just be desperation in order to feel like you're wanted. I'm looking at V here because she moved on with that Cole guy so quick and got engaged so quick and throws shade to Austin all the time. Still bitter about not being Vanessa Butler lol. But rushing down the isle is a big mistake. Austin's background dictates that he knows 100% the seriousness of a commitment and he will not just marry any woman when he knows divorce could maybe be in his future.

I think a lot of the Austin hate now stems from Jacob fans, bt i find many of Jacobs "fans" to b very fleeting. i think the voice comments will always b there bt a lot of ppl got over the unjustified rumors of him cheating on Vanessa and ppl do think he/Kaia gerbers age gap is weird (ik i do 🥴) bt Austin just got famous from Elvis last yr n I dnt really think Kaia is that relevant in pop culture so some ppl will point it out bt I think their kinda overlooked as a couple. I still don't really get the voice thing tbh. Yea, his voice might be slightly different, but if you compare it to 7 years ago, his voice/accent basically sounds the same. He just has an older voice now, and maaaybe a less hard enunciation of certain words probably due to the Elvis vocal training all those years. But other than that?? People drove that voice thing into the ground imo.

Look, even Tom has an older voice now. That's what normally happens when you age. Your voice (yes, even women's voices) change a little, and usually get deeper with age.

They as a couple have always seemed a bit OFF to me (and I'm not just talking about the age gap thing ; which is cringe in itself) and idk why. Look, I've tried to like them as a couple, and her, but I just can't get over the nepobaby-ism, and the weirdness of that family. I actually used to think they were real (and maybe they are?🤷🏾‍♀️) but this year, certain things about their relationship have seemed a bit contrived and pap-heavy??

Ooo doubles on Chilling Effect by Valerie Valdes there's three books out now n they're funny n I love the world building n there's space dinos! The first book has road trip/space opera vibes like Angry Planet for sures. Hopefully not to spoilers-y but the second book has a bit of a pokémon parody which I loved. I love all the characters and how big and colorful the space is. Also cats.

I really love the White Space books by Elizabeth Bear, so far just Ancestral Night and Machine out I think. There are some similarities with Becky Chambers' Galactic Commons series in world building. It attempts a utopian look at a galactic community spanning loads of alien species. There's some amazing diversity in the aliens, which I love, tho both books use different human pov characters.

Precursor species are a big theme in both of those series if ur into that.

Less "fun" unless your idea of fun is war crimes and political plots (less lighthearted I guess I mean), but since u love Murderbot I feel I gotta bring up the Imperial Radch trilogy by Ann Leckie. The main character is an AI in a human body, the last remaining ancillary of a battleship, on a quest for revenge against the immortal emperor who destroyed her. (Interesting to note all citizens of the Radch use she/her pronouns.) There is another book out set in the same universe after the trilogy and another one will be coming out this summer! I love Leckie's worldbuilding and all the different cultures.

Oh also also Kaia Sønderby's Xandri books. Testing Pandora is actually the first of the series, then Failure to Communicate, and then Tone of Voice. For some reason Testing Pandora isn't always listed. The books are about one of the few remaining autistic humans in the galaxy who works as a xeno-liason. Her job is generally helping to negotiate with alien species to make agreements or join the interstellar government she's a part of called the Alliance. There is a theme of ableism and eugenics via genetic engineering to eliminate disabilities, which is why Xandri is so unique and has to navigate discrimination and figuring out her autistic self. Despite that, the books are a comfort read to me, and I love the aliens in them!

Okay one last one I swear! Persephone Station by Stina Leicht. Multiple pov characters, one is a traveling humanoid AI. The plot is about the people of a corporate owned world, including an indigenous species the corporation has hidden from the bigger interstellar government to maintain ownership of the world. They are fighting the corporation but there's also dramatic interpersonal beef between two very old humans.

Murderbot are my comfort books and I loved The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet. That’s really the ideal vein that I’m looking for. I’ve read some Scalzi books and enjoyed them and same with the Martian, but beyond that I’m still pretty fresh to sci fi. I’m a big fantasy person, so I’d appreciate any and all ideas of what I can explore next. Thanks!!!

i don’t just dislike taylor because she’s white. i don’t dislike taylor because she’s a woman. i don’t dislike her because she writes mean and petty lyrics about past relationships and people who wronged her. i don’t dislike taylor because her public circle of friends is almost exclusively blonde white celebrities with their own laundry lists of issues that includes ryan reynolds and blake lively who are poster children for white privilege and pseudo-excellence if i’ve ever seen them. i dislike taylor because the amalgamation of all of those things is so exemplary of a huge problem i have with the music industry in general but also like american society

1. taylor swift consistently releases the same mediocre album but in different colors. every album is the same lyrically and tonally. her body of work rarely goes very far above “good for taylor swift”. folklore as both title and musical aesthetic is irrelevant to the actual content of the album, which is just every taylor swift album except set to folk pop and with a bit more cussing, congrats for baby’s first swear. i’ve seen folklore compared to much better bodies of work and even propped up by stans as album of the year, a distinction that rina sawayama and chloe x halle will be battling it out for if there is any justice in the world at all. the fact that she is allowed to do this and still be considered great when this is something that even white male artists are butchered critically for... astounds me. like we all know how well received all of coldplay’s similar sounding albums are.... Come on. 

2. i don’t think taylor or her work is particularly feminist and yet for some reason every time she frowns an army of white women brings her kleenex. i’m not saying taylor’s anger has always been unjustified, but her feminism to me has always felt like “i can do whatever a man can do” feminism, which is utterly fucking useless to me as a black woman. it’s only useful to her because as a wealthy, white, straight, cis white woman her ONLY obstacle in life is her gender. and if she just didn’t have that tricky little bitch then maybe people would take her seriously. like, just think about her music video for the man... what was the thesis of that? what was the point of that? with all of her privileges she’d just be gaining a single extra privilege. she’s a blonde blue eyed thin white girl, the world kisses her feet. i have no interest in proving myself any better or any worse than white men, they are not the standard for how a person should be treated, they’re cautionary tales, and white women are too. i think taylor capitalizes off of white woman victimhood, and it’s all over her writing style. even when she’s trying to be empowered, like in mad woman for example, there is this tone to it of victimization, poking the bear, unleashing the beast if you will. she invokes the imagery of salem witches and even more boldly chooses a noose to write about in the song which is..... surely going to be a white tumblr staple for many gifsets to come but holy shit is it hollow. she also tends to come back to teenage memories in her music and she’s thirty. i don’t think about being seventeen unless i’m being held at gunpoint but she seems to think about it All The Time. and part of this is to keep herself young, at least in her music, which only further ingrains this image of fragile teeny bopper taylor into the mind of the listener, fueling her victim image. this imagery and language means nothing because the world always rallies around taylor. even when she was the butt of jokes for not being beyonce (which she is not and never can be) and writing about her exes (which she does), she was largely supported by the industry and by critics. look at how many fucking awards she has!

3. folk and indie and alternative music is in a moment of transition, where musicians of color are getting the chance to really speak about how they’ve been treated in these overwhelmingly white circles and create their own standards and their own voices. and for taylor swift to swoop in with aaron dessner and jack antonoff fantano and almost reassert that mid-2010s indie sound as The Sound of folk pop in the popular consciousness.... it makes me violent! it! makes! me! violent! 

4. back to hozier! finally, i wanna talk about white standom, fandom, bandom, and womandom. i often see these very superficial comparisons between hozier and taylor (and hozier and florence and hozier and stevie nicks and hozier and whatever other white woman in fashion) and they frustrate me for more than one reason. i know that hozier has met taylor and said she’s cool, which is nice of him and he’s a nice man, but i’m not a nice man so i’m going to just say it: none of the people who have made those posts have listened to more than four hozier songs and it shows. the reason why this matters is because these posts catch on and create an image and preconception of hozier’s music that is divorced from reality and divorced from his influences and most importantly divorced from the deliberate and reverent blackness of his musical style. hozier has his white male privilege in the industry for sure but he’s not as towering of a giant as taylor and taylor’s music is an unsalted chicken, plain oatmeal, white paint drying on a white wall, a stick of unflavored gum. her music is so white it told me that its dad is a cop. i am, as a black hozier fan, exhausted with having to share space with white women who don’t know why hozier’s music kicks me in my lungs sometimes and think that taylor mentioning a tree ONCE in her 3 minute acoustic guitar slog about whatever suburb is the same when it simply is not. i swear some of you are pretending to love taylor because your friends love her and you don’t wanna be left out of the hot new musical discourse but she’s only the hot new musical discourse CONSTANTLY because she’s a white woman, she’s almost the Perfect white woman. like if someone asked me to describe a white woman, it would be taylor swift. her position at the top of the musical pyramid among people who eclipse her musically, vocally, and lyrically is only allowed because she’s The Perfect White Woman. she’s an ideal. white girls relate to her immediately because of it and now we have this unshakable mob of unbearable white women who think that the world has wronged someone who literally wrote fanfiction about the rich oil heiress white woman who owned her rhode island mansion before her aklghlghdhlgs it drives me fucking NUTS

Sharing my Acer Day 2022: The Green Mark Concert experienced! PLUS how to be a introvert fangirl in a concert.

Ever since I decided to attended SB19's concert live, I always bought tickets for two. It is because I always want to have someone I'm familiar with. But being alone is not the problem here. 'Coz I can even go to malls or eat on the fast food chain on my on. But attending event is really different for me. Thinking that I will seat with somebody that I didn't know makes me feel like I'm suffocating. My hands felt cold. My heartbeats starting to race. Then my anxiety kicking in.

At exactly 3:28 am, I arrive on SM Megamall after my night shift duty.

This is another day of 'Bahala na si Batman'. Because I don't know what to do and who to approach with. When I see a crowd I just followed them and most of the time I'm on my phone. To look like I'm busy.

After an hour, the queue started and I was able to get a number. This is the time when I initiate a talked to the person on my front to ease my awkwardness because of the situation. Good thing she is fun to talked to. I also got a chance to talked and know the names of the other two girls on my back.

Fast forward, 10 am and we're still on the fifth floor of the mall. I got little bit panicked here since I still have a work at 6pm and the line is moving so slow. Yah, I know I still have hours to prepare for my shift. But thinking that I possibly working without a sleep is already draining me.

But thank God the line moved! Around 1:16 pm I almost near the ticketing booth.

And at last at 1:30 pm I got my two tickets. And I still have time to rest before my shift start.

D'day! Guess what? From Upper Box I was able to upgrade my seat to Lower Box. And this how my worries started.

I know many A'tin are approachable. We can talk like we are friends for a long time. This is just one of the impact of SB19 to us. But in Acer con, SB19 is not the only artist who will performed. So thinking that I will be seated alone, without knowing if my seatmate is an A'tin or not, and far away to my friends who is left on Upper box makes me anxious. I even don't remember how many times I look up to their seat just to feel that I'm also with them.

And that's how I felt on the first part of the show.

But every thing change when Parokya ni Edgar started to performed. Aside SB19, PNE is one of the perfomer I'm looking forward to watch.

I'm very thankful for PNE that night. I really feel that I'm one with the crowd. They removed all my tense and nervousness that time.

That is also my first time seeing them in live. I'll never forget that experienced.

Also different artists also performed such as Kaia and Adie.

Of course, the reason why I decided to watch the concert, SB19. At their first appearance I already felt kilig. I immediately notice Pablo's cheeks. I really want to pinch it. The other members; Justin, Josh, Ken and Stell like Pablo are all looking fresh and good plus their white and green outfit really fits them. I mean they always looking good, anyway.

Their cute but maangas personality are really shows every time they are on stage either they perform or just talking. They performed their hit songs What, Tilaluha, Mapa, and SLMT.

I'm also very thankful to those people I'm with that day. My new found A'tin friend plus my casual listener friend.

I never thought that I will captured it like this. I just notice it while I'm editing this entry. Look at Pablo on stage. He is looking at my/our side. It feels like he is waving at me. 🤧

That's how my Acer concert experienced ends. I realized that I really love SB19. That I can go out of my comfort zone just to see them. And I wish someday, I can see them closer and thank them how I'm grateful I am that I'm A'tin. That their personality, talents, and music help me. 💙

boats and a blue-eyed birthday boy

The boat won’t start, because that’s just Dean’s luck. His son is inside, celebrating his 4th birthday, and his surprise gift is malfunctioning right before the big reveal.

Ever since Dean, Cas, and Jack moved out of the bunker and into their cottage-style lake house, Jack had been obsessed with the water. He was enthralled by the lake, spending hours on the dock watching the fish swim by or dipping his feet in on warm days. Cas fueled his interest by purchasing every book and guide about lake-dwelling creatures and plants.

Jack’s obsession was pushed even further when their elderly neighbor had offered to take him fishing on his boat. From that moment on, boats became all the rage in the Winchester home. Books about boats moved in next to the lake books on Jack’s bookshelf, his cowboy themed bed sheets were swapped for a set adorned with tiny sailboats. Dean and Cas had to practically restrain him from pestering their neighbor for a boat ride everyday.

That’s how Dean found himself purchasing a repaired boat from some guy in southwest Minnesota. He had made the drive to pick up the boat a few weeks ago, it was relatively affordable, not a luxury speedboat or ridiculous pontoon, but perfect for about 6 people to climb on board for a day of fishing or relaxing on the water. Dean had made a plan with El, their elderly neighbor, to keep the boat stored in his garage until Jack’s birthday. El was happy to help, even took apart the motor to make sure everything was working and got it in the water that morning to surprise Jack.

Now, Dean is huffing over the damn thing, trying to decipher why it won’t start. Everyone else, including El, the only person that could actually help him, is inside trying to keep Jack distracted while Dean preps the boat.

“Shit,” Dean curses, after another failed attempt at turning the engine over.

He slams his forehead into the steering wheel, frustrated tears gathering in the corners of his eyes. Four was the worst year of Dean’s life, for obvious reasons, and he wanted to make sure that Jack’s fourth year was everything that his wasn’t. He knows it’s stupid, to get this worked up over a freaking boat, but this boat was so much more than that. It was a promise to Jack that he would always be there, he would always love him. So if he’s a little emotional over the possibility that this boat will ruin his son’s very important 4th birthday, who can blame him?

Dean turns his face toward the sky, the sun peaking through the tree branches to warm his skin. He thinks this is a moment he would pray, if he had anyone to pray to. Considering his two favorite angels are already inside the house, it seems kind of arbitrary. Instead he just looks at the sky, watches puffy white clouds drift by lazily, and wonders pointlessly about what he did to deserve this.

“Looks like you could use some help.” Says a gravelly voice Dean instantly recognizes as belonging to El.

He runs a hand across his face, quickly wiping away any evidence of tears. “You think you can get this thing going?”

“I should have told you earlier, you got to give it some gas as you turn the key.” El says simply, nudging Dean out of the way before pressing his foot to the accelerator and starting the boat.

“Well, I’ll be damned.” Dean declares, slapping a hand to the other man’s back. “I thought the day was ruined.”

El laughs, adjusting his trucker cap and turning to face Dean with a serious look. “Boy, you think this boat not running would have ruined the day?”

Dean cocks his head to the side slightly, a mannerism he’s picked up from Cas after all these years. “Would have been a bummer if Jack’s surprise tanked.”

“You coulda given that kid an old thing with a couple of paddles and he woulda been ecstatic.” El smiles, clapping his shoulder affectionately. “All he really wants is something to share with you.”

In moments like these, El reminds him of Bobby so much that it almost knocks the wind out of him. There’s a lump in Dean’s throat, he quickly turns his head toward the ground and lets out a wet laugh.

“You and Cas,” El starts again. “And I guess Sam helped out, too. You guys raised that boy right, he doesn’t need things to be happy, he just needs people.”

Dean looks up, his glossy eyes meeting El’s, he gives him a soft smile. “Now, how’s about we go get that kid and show him his gift.”

“Yeah,” Dean laughs. “It’s showtime.”

El promises to keep watch of the boat while Dean jogs back up to the house. He pulls open the backdoor and immediately bumps into Kaia, who is looking at him guilty with her hands tight around Claire’s waist.

“Really? This is a birthday party for a 4 year old.” Dean attempts to scold, but there’s no real heat to it.

“Sorry!” Kaia yells as Claire says, “Who died and made you a patron saint?”

Dean laughs loudly at that, pressing a kiss to the side of Claire’s head as he passes. He makes his way into the kitchen, where Sam and Eileen are putting the finishing touches on Jack’s birthday cake.

Where’s Cas? He signs when Eileen catches his eye.

Living room. She signs back, giving him a warm smile.

He can hear Rowena’s laughter filling the room before he even steps over the threshold. She’s standing to the side of the living room, deep in conversation with Jody and Donna. Jack is on the floor with Alex, talking animatedly while he secures one of her braids with a bright pink hair tie. Jack’s wearing a red cowboy hat with a t-shirt that says ‘This is my 4th rodeo’, the shirt was Cas’ idea, along with the matching ‘Jack’s 4th Rodeo’ shirts that everyone in attendance is adorning.

Cas is perched on the sofa, watching Jack and Alex with a fond look in his eyes. Dean slides his hand across Cas’ shoulders and bends down to plant a sweet kiss against his lips. “It’s go time.”

Cas smiles excitedly as Dean sticks his hands under Jack’s armpits and pulls him to his feet. He reaches into his back pocket and retrieves a bandana that he begins to fasten over Jack’s eyes.

“Alright everyone, it’s time for Jack’s big surprise.” Dean says as he secures the bandana around Jack’s head. “Head out to the backyard so we can show our birthday boy his present.”

Everyone files out the backdoor and into the yard behind the house. Dean and Cas each take one of Jack’s hands in their own, leading him toward the dock.

“Okay buddy,” Cas says once the three of them reach the rocky shoreline, the rest of their family gathered behind them. “You ready?”

“Yes! I’m ready!” Jack nearly squeals.

“Three… two… one!” The group counts off in unison as Dean releases the bandana in one swoop.

Jack stands there slack-jawed and in awe for a moment, clearly overwhelmed by the sight in front of him. “A boat?” He asks more than states.

“Yeah, baby, it’s for you.” Dean says, a little confused by the 4 year old’s reaction.

Jack turns to him and Cas, his hands still holding tightly onto theirs. “Our boat?”

“Yeah, Jack, your daddy picked it out for us.” Cas states, running a hand through Jack’s hair.

Jack releases both of their hands then, throwing his arms around Dean’s neck so aggressively that he tumbles from his crouched position onto his butt. “Thank you daddy!”

Dean buries his face into Jack’s neck, hiding his suddenly teary eyes, and says, “Happy birthday kiddo.”

Jack pulls away and places his small hands on the sides of Dean’s face before leaning in and pressing a sloppy kiss to his cheek. “I love you daddy.”

Dean huffs a wet laugh, looking over Jack’s shoulder to see his family watching with eyes as shiny as his own.

“I love you more, Jack.” He says, smacking an equally sloppy kiss to his forehead. “Now, how ‘bout we take it for a spin?”

“Papa too?” Jack asks, eyes lighting up.

Dean looks up at Cas, who has tears slipping unashamedly down his cheeks, and smiles. “Yeah, papa too.”

After they get Jack secured in his life vest, he takes his spot at the front of the boat, kneeling on the seat and leaning precariously over the edge to watch the boat carve through the water. Cas is seated next to him, one hand looped tightly in the back of his life vest, and Dean is at the wheel. The sun is setting over the horizon, reflecting off the lake and painting them in a picture-perfect orange glow.

Jack looks back at Dean, his blonde hair curling slightly from the spray of the boat, his gap-toothed smile is wide and unapologetic. Cas is looking at him, too, affection and love spilling over every feature, his mouth turned up in a lopsided grin.

“I hope I can be 4 forever!” Jack yells, letting out a wild laugh as Cas reaches over to tickle his neck.

Dean knows, somewhere in the back of this mind, that he should be worried that Jack is getting older. One day he’ll grow up, probably move away, and their house will no longer be littered with plastic sailboats and tiny socks discarded around every corner. At this moment, though, he can’t find it in himself to worry. Jack won’t be 4 forever, but he’s sitting in front of Dean with a smile like sunshine, toothy and perfect, laughing raucously, unashamed in his joy, and that will always be enough.

Soulmarks are like. a thing for soulmate aus. I think. I've read ones where if you draw on your skin, it shows up on your soulmate's skin, another fic where when the two touch it colors their skin. For coming up with symbolic titles. it can be just the first thing that pops into your head that fits. it can also be a song lyric from a song that fits your characters or smth. Or it can hardcore connect to each character's identity. It doesn't need to connect to the plot.

A Kingdom of Shadows can be REALLY fucking interesting if you give it more than surface level meaning. Like. There could be parallels between the two kingdoms, and the title references both of them, but where the Lizzie country is literally associated with shadows, the Watcher country could also be the kingdom of shadows because of the secrets they hold and the shit they hide in their darkness.

Or the Kingdom of Shadows could be a person, in reference to like Jimmy where he loses all his memories. He's the kingdom. And the shadows are everything he doesn't remember.

Play with the concept of making it subtly deeper, I guess would be my advice for the title thing :)

And you're always free to fiddle around with the concept. You might want something with kingdoms and shadows, but you might not like that specific title. it'll come to you. probably.

My working titles for this fic have all had "around your soul". Here are the seven different endings: "-and yours" "-and beyond the skies" "-and through the skies" "-and to the moon" "-and by the sun" "-and beyond the stars" "-and beyond your horizon".

I knew I wanted a space themed thing, so I kinda started with that because of the winners, but sun was too specific to Grian and excluded the other main characters, moon was too specific to Pearl, stars was more encompassing but Scott isnt very relevant to this fic, skies was the most likely for a while since Grian and Pearl are avians, Jimmy and Lizzie can fly, and Scar just sees the sky as a form of freedom, but it excluded Gem and didn't feel right.

So she originally wanted to change things so she was a vigilante but then no one took her seriously so she worked her way up through the ranks of the villains and now she's the boss of the underground so that's just a win for her

Grian has always thought his soulmark was a sunset. This is supposed to represent Grian's (and the Azures in general, minus Jimmy until a point) more pessimistic pov.

Scar has always thought that his soulmark was a sunrise. This is supposed to represent Scar's (and Gem's) more optimistic point of view.

More literally, both of their soulmarks are horizons.

Also after the fact I noticed that Grian's soulmark being a sunset means that the sun will disappear, making the earth more consistent and valued, and Scar does the opposite.

Around your soul would mean that your soul is valued, and we love it, and all that shit. Beyond your horizon would mean that I value your soul and you as a person beyond your soulmark and whatever other pieces that are supposed to define you (either to the Watchers or to society).

It does need to connect to Pearl and Gem somehow, and I think that can happen because both of them would be on either side of that horizon. Pearl would be in the sky, as the moon, and Gem is somewhere on earth, as a mortal.

(shinyduo is doomed by the narrative. I'm trying to make them be together it's not working very well. desertduo is also doomed by the narrative but less so)

It always bothers me when people refer to Kaia as Austin's karma. Karma for breaking up with Vanessa after he booked Elvis. Karma for not marrying Vanessa. Karma for "wasting 10 years of Vanessa's life". Or the cheating rumors, which when did this man ever cheat on Vanessa? He was already single when the whole Olivia rumor started.

Now he's stuck with miss nepo baby Kaia. Who openly kisses other people. Hangs all over other men. While Austin continues to do paparazzi walks with her looking like a simp.

That makes me so sad to see stuff like that being written about Austin these days. Kaia isn't karma. Kaia is a bad relationship mistake that every single person on the planet can relate to. Kaia was the total opposite of Vanessa. It made sense why in his first relationship after Vanessa he would go for someone totally different. Clearly, it isn't working out. Kaia is not his person. We can all say we've dated someone we shouldn't have. That's life. But people using Kaia as a weapon against Austin because they're still mad (almost 5 years later) that he didn't marry Vanessa...stop it.

Vanessa and Austin loved each other. But clearly they were having issues long before Elvis happened. By the time Austin did book Elvis, his career was already taking off in a new direction after OUATIH. Vanessa's career was winding down. She wanted marriage and kids. Austin didn't. It's happens. Two people who were growing into two different directions. And we're better for ending the relationship. Vanessa found her person and is married with a baby.

Austin has been able to truly focus on his career and grow into a great actor. He'll find his person down the road. He's only 33. We all know celebrity relationships like Austin and Kaia eventually run their coarse. Sooner or later, Kaia will get bored and move onto someone who craves the paparazzi and attention as much as she does.

For one thing, I think it's very presumptuous for them to assume that they know the cause and all the reasons for the Aunessa breakup. They don't know a single thing. People break up all the time, especially in Hollywood. Austin and Vanessa lasted longer than most marriages in Hollywood last lol. That should account for something.

I also think people should leave Austin and Vanessa alone. The end of their relationship is their business. They loved each other very much and were together for almost 9 years. I'm sure the breakup was hard on both of them. Haven't they suffered enough without people making harsh judgments and negative assumptions about them and their relationship?

Yes! ok let me preface this by saying that obviously people can read whoever they want as gay and i'm not gonna take that away from people. That being said

i think a lot of the reading of jimmy as gay comes from the fact that he abandons his like white midwest nuclear evangelical heterosexual family. like the fact that he chooses possession by cas (who is, as we know, gay) over like fulfilling his husbandly duties in his happy christian marriage becomes evidence for his gayness and dissatisfaction with heterosexuality. this is fair but misses entirely that there are many other reasons a fundamentalist christian dad would deprioritise his wife and child! like the more obvious answer to me is, simply, patriarchy. religious devotion (very important caveat that my knowledge here is limited almost entirely to christianity and mostly to catholicism) is not uncommonly weaponised by religious men to shirk emotional responsibilities and parental duties — the idea that connecting to god is good for the abstract notion of "the family" and the father's personal spiritual fulfilment and some "greater good" and so it's an acceptable trade-off for like. spending time with your daughter or staying with/emotionally supporting your wife.

which is a thing that Most men do under patriarchy! men are hardly pressured to be an emotionally dependable, physically present parental figure in the way that women are. it's expected that they will be in some way disengaged from the family unit, and the world bends over backwards to justify men collectively doing this. so like, to me jimmy making the choices he does re: choosing cas over his family is so good as a (however unintentional) commentary on the way men, particularly fathers and husbands, fail their loved ones in pursuit of some abstract cause. which works MUCH better and cleaner with heterosexual jimmy. this isn't about gay dads this is about how straight men fail their wives

The Austin Butler reddit page, I have to vent for a second. Someone posted the article about Austin out growing his relationship. Which in the past talking about the relationship never bolds well in that subreddit. The shippers will gang up on people and run people off the subreddit. Anyone who doesn't talk positively about the relationship gets run off the page. They preach about difference in opinions, as long as it fits their narrative.

A lot of people in the thread were having a discussion and agreed the relationship was most likely ending. In come the shippers who down vote anyone saying it. Apparently, L&S is not reliable...because the shippers don't like what they are reporting.
